Levi wasn't ready to lose her.
In this period of grief, we see him stoop down by the smallest body in the line-up to recover their Scouts patch. It is the first and only time we ever see him do this in the series.
For someone whose philosophy is to make a choice with no regrets, regardless of the outcome; for someone who takes much time and care to reflect over his fallen comrades; we never see a scene like this again for the rest of SNK. He experiences this "Crushing Blow" (title of S1 E21, where his squad is slaughtered), and in "The Defeated" (S1 E22), stops to gaze - what was that, in his gaze? - at Petra's broken body by the tree.
Then he takes Petra's, and only Petra's, patch.
For every battle before and each battle henceforth, he comes prepared to lose everything. But in this one expedition, for this one soldier, he didn't. So he takes her patch.
"It's proof that they existed, at least for me." (Levi, in The Defeated)
He needed proof that she existed, because he wasn't ready to lose her.

In today's news on how Reiner smashes through Wall Kei's bank account...
So, here are some of the Reiner goodies that arrived for me last month. I do have other things coming in sometime in the near future, BUT! I love my new haul~
I am also happy to say that I finally completed this:
Gotta say that among these three, my favorite is Sholayered's Olive Vodka. According to the body spray's description, their Olive Vodka scent is "A well-mixed cocktail of fresh green olives and ripened fruits elicits a scent that's both smooth and alluring. Developed to pursue the sexy impression at night." And it really does give that kind of impression when you smell it. It's got a very cool scent that reminds me of ice. I don't know how to explain it properly, but it's a scent that's so easy to take in.
The Survey Corps one, I thought would smell different from the one inspired by the Final Season variant, but they are almost similar. Only, it's got milder tones compared to the other one. Like, a teenage version of the the other one. So far, the one inspired by the final season has the manliest scent. Very strong, and very mature. The Olive Vodka has a mature scent, but in a very different way. Like the product mentioned, it's a sexier scent, I guess.
But these three have one thing in common for me. The moment their notes mellow out, the final notes of their scents become almost identical. So you know, all these scents feel very Reiner at various stages of his life.
Additionally, the proxy shop (Seibah Crafts) I get my things from made me this for my birthday:
This is a rosette which you can use to showcase your button pins. This one was inspired by the anniversary outfit and color scheme. I really do love the addition of the Eldian star over there. It's so beautiful, I can't wait to get it along with the next batch of items that they got for me.
