Revenant Kung Lao x Reader: Sweet Laollaby

Warning: Partial angst and plot confusion ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The spectators of Outworld all cheered loud down to the circular arena of the Kolosseum. Winds pushed up the sand, narrowly tampering with your sight, but you could make out who was the focus.

Your close one, Kung Lao, victoriously standing beside the defeated Tiger Shokan, Kintaro. The very first time you were proud. Relieved even that your human lover didn't fall to some fire breathing beast. But you knew how this scene plays out. Your curse was having to watch it over. And over. And over.

Yet, everytime you tried to scream and cry for him to lookout, not a noise came out your mouth as you're forced to watch and feel the same shock and grief when the cruel tyrant went up behind Lao and snapped his neck like he was nothing but an empty plastic bottle.

  Everytime, guilt surrounds you as everything around you darkens. Remaining beings were you and his body as it darkens unnaturally with red streaks forming on your skin. As his eyes open with glowing red orbs that dart to you with immediate hatred, his neck twists back to its normal position and he stands, stalking to you with spite. "Why...didn't..you.. do anything?"

And as he pounces at you, that's when everything is over.

You gasped awake in bed, breathing harshly and feeling yourself to confirm the regular. Just another nightmare on the trauma. Though, it will always leave you feeling terrible even if you're safe in bed at your home.

After the terrible event of watching your own lover die before your eyes, Raiden and Liu had to practically beg you to step down as a kombatant. You didn't like it but it ruined you mentally where it clearly has an affect on your skills. And you showed no signs of recovery. You weren't alone though, having the same deal as Jax from the Special Forces.

Groaning, you shifted out of bed. There's sleeping pills in the kitchen cabinet that could maybe assist on a well rest. Even if sleeping at night isn't great anymore when the same ugly nightmare would be waiting to haunt you.

After gulping down two tablets with some cold water, you walked around for a bit until you felt the need to lay down. Standing in the living room near the slide door, you pushed aside the curtains and gazed at the dark. You zoned out.

Within one blink, your eyes looked into the glass and it took you a minute to see two faint red glows. Nothing clicked right away until those eyes moved close in the reflection and you could clearly see a body step out.

Immediate fright struck you with adrenaline and you screeched, turning around and pressing your back against the glass door. There standing, was the man in your nightmares. The result of when you couldn't help Kung Lao.

The revenant's face was blank and chill, but you knew how revenants were. Evil. Not the person as they were before death. But from the same constant dream you had over and over, maybe you should've seen this coming.

"You're here to hurt me, aren't you?" The whine couldn't be suppressed down. Your hand clutched dangerously on the curtain behind you. "Hurt me because I couldn't do anything at the Kolosseum? Because... I couldn't save you?"

The undead man doesn't answer right away but watches as the curtain you were gripping too hard fell off its hanging rod, making you fall with it and covering your frame as you yelped with surprise.

Slight amusement roamed his eyes when he steps forward and lifts the drapes off you. Lao looks at your scared face and calmly responds with his own question. "Do you want me to hurt you?"

Bafflement replaced part of your fear. Shouldn't he be using his hat and tear you in half as punishment by now? Why isn't he attacking? "N-No..."

"Then I won't, my sweet." Lao chuckles under his breath and tosses the fallen curtain aside and standing you up. He had the same gentleness handling you as when he was alive.

"I don't get it. The common dream... nightmare- you ask me why I didn't do anything... tell me it's my fault. And you kill me right after. Aren't you going to do that?" You look up at him, taking in the slight smirk he has. The same smile he uses with you whenever he's taking in your beauty.

"It's a dream, Y/n. It isn't real. And Raiden's the real blame here. Not you."

Wait, what?

"Huh? But it was Shao Kahn that-"

"Raiden claims he could see the future. Getting visions of what is soon to come. So how is it he did nothing but stand there rather than preventing my death?" Kung Lao cuts you off and explains.

The explanation leaves you wordless. It's a fair point, but surely Raiden didn't actually want you love to die so suddenly like that. After all, you recalled him nearly striking down Shao with his powers before Liu Kang went up first. All while you looked horrified at the dead loved one, feeling your body stiffen with all the emotions like you were him.

"I guess the only thing that incompetent thunder god did to repent was leave you out of this mess." The cold man lures behind you, grabbing your wrists and spreading them like you were a mere puppet to him. He looms to your ear, careful to make sure his hat doesn't graze your head. "I'd hate for something to happen to you when I'm not around."

You turn back to glare at him. "Why are you here?" You tug your hands away for him to stop playing with you, and he does let go.

He shrugs. "Well, it's been a while since I've got to see you. You still remain beautiful as ever."

Holding your glare, you knew it wasn't all. "Okay, what are your intentions with Earthrealm?"

"If I told you that, I'd have to kill you." Lao dismisses and walks away from you. It looks as if he was going to leave already. 

Your heart immediately told you to stop him. You didn't want him to leave now. Not ever. Even if you knew it had to be some sort of treason to associate with a revenant, reborn in the hellish Netherrealm under a necromancy's command. "Wait! Don't go! I missed you!

Revenant Kung Lao stops in his tracks. You sighed and made an interesting request. "Can't you just stay and sleep with me?"

He slowly turns back and looks at you with appeal. You just knew you'd have to clarify right away.

"N-Not like that! I'm just tired of sleeping alone without you. And you're here. Please? You can leave when I fall asleep if you can't stay."

The former monk thought for a moment but with a face like that, even as reincarnated evil, he couldn't say no. "Very well. 'Only' sleeping." He repeats the request.

Gently holding you hand, you walk to the bedroom. Safe to say, you didn't have a nightmare this time when you fell asleep. The man in your dreams didn't seem too scary anymore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~

𐙚 After your guys conversation was over after repeatdly declining errons advances , what you didn’t expect was to be harshly grabbed by the wrist and pushed to a corner, and grabbed by the chin being brought up closely to Johnnys face, his brows furrowed in anger and eyes as sharp as knifes.

“ really? Your fucking kidding me right? Over here prancing around like a fucking whore getting other men’s attention you know you aren’t supposed to. The fuck do you have to say about that huh? “

𐙚 The grip of his big hands on your chin getting more tighter and feeling your jaw swelling and burning, it’s like you had a lump in your throat wanting to come out but nothing came out, all in results was your eyes feeling an itch of water slowly becoming more visible in them, and your mouth not uttering a word, if it was sown shut.

𐙚 His facial expressions darken at the silence, both of his hands went to your shoulders pushing you harder to the wall, having his face close to yours

𐙚 The sudden yell from him caused you to flinch, and finally have a tear run down your right eye, the times you two have been together he never fails to make you fear him, you swallowed the so called lump in your throat and opened your mouth slight trying to push out words

𐙚 but only pathetic stuttering came out, which caused him to only ease his grip on your shoulders and raise his eyebrow in amusement waiting for your response

𐙚 You were cut off by him just rolling his eyes and chuckling and finally letting you go but still making sure you were against the wall, in frustration he ran his hand through his hair, and grabbed a Kimber Micro 9 Semi-Auto Pistol out of his gun holster,

𐙚 he chuckles in a manic crazedway and pushes it up against your chin, making your head go up, but still maintaining eye contact with him in fear

“ listen baby, I love you and you love me, but if you ever decide one day you don’t, I will kill you. You hear me? If I can’t have you…then no one can, okay sweetheart?“

𐙚 He says the last 2 words in a smile that sent chills down your spine, it’s like he thought this was something completely normal to do to someone you love. His hand roughly grabbing your jaw, pulling you closer to him, his lips meet yours and his free hand move slowly from your neck down your waist.

𐙚 When he felt you not kiss back, he chuckles within the kiss and brings the gun down to your stomach, having his index finger slightly press on the trigger basically threatening you to kiss him back

“ don’t be a brat, and kiss me back. “

𐙚 After he felt your effort in the kiss and how your lip quivered in fear, in satisfaction he put down the gun from your stomach, his soft and warm tongue slips into your mouth, grabbing your neck roughly making sure you have no intention on breaking the kiss first

𐙚 his breath feeling like a gentle breeze. he pulls you in closer, his hot breath almost burning against your skin.Both of you then heard someone call out Johnnys name, and audible annoyed noise comes out of his mouth as he pulled away from the kiss

𐙚 he then caresses the side of your cheek and says in a sweet tone despite his words pressing the gun further on your chest, definitely causing a mark

“ we’ll talk more at home alright love? If you even fucking remotely look at his way or any man that isn’t me, you’ll know what will happen. k? “

𐙚 he then kisses your cheek and holsters his gun then walking off, you feel your knees give out in pain, you slowly glide against the wall, and let a tear drop by drop, your hand softly going up feeling the burning sensation on your neck and chin from the harsh grasps of his, you don’t know how you’ll have to do it, but soon enough you’ll have to go back out there pretending like nothing happened and this is just the beginning.

The fact that so many people don't like Khaos Reigns is CRAZY to me.

I watched that shit for the first time last night (after putting it off because I thought it was gonna be trash) and my God... That DLC had some of the most powerful imagery I've seen in a recent MK game. 🐉🔥

Some of my favorite parts included:

The Tanya and Orin Scene (Empress Tanya was just chef's kiss)

The Kolosseum Maze with all the traps

Cyrax and Sektor in general were just... SOOO GOOD!!! NRS ATEEE!!!

Sekhan is fucking cute and I will forever stand by that

Mileena's new Empress outfit?! Um YES!

Kuai Liang being an absolute dick for most of the DLC lol 😆

HARUMI!!! WITH A SWORD!!!

Kudos to Netherrealm frfr! They were really giving their girlies some screentime in this DLC and as a female MK fan I really appreciate it :)

What is your headcanons on shangblade?

Sorry for the late reply, but OML, my first question & it's about my 2nd fav MK crackship! These'll cover 5 of my general HCs, then ones I think of in the different eras of MK!

My ShangBlade Headcanons

General:

Shang Tsung first spotted Sonya during one of her missions in Earthrealm. He was simply doing his shady sorcerer business for Shao Kahn before he spotted her fighting an enemy. He was not only attracted to her beauty, but her strength and will.

Sonya wouldn't be attracted to Shang's looks - not because she thinks he's ugly! But she would be attracted to his stubbornness, wit, and resilience (kinda like how I imagine she'd be attracted to Johnny). She'd also really like how knowledgable he is about battle & war tactics.

They'd have a lot in common than either of them realize (similarities will depend on the timeline). Whether it's the fact that they both serve their realms with pride, they're both constantly underestimated by friends & foes alike, or that they're craftier than they appear, they'll both be surprised at how similar they actually are.

Shang Tsung is possessive of Sonya. That's been shown well-enough in the '95 film. If they were to be together, he'd be a lot more yandere-like. He'd treat her like the world, but if anyone so much as look her a certain way (in his eyes), they'll be a part of his experiments without hesitation.

The two wouldn't have a very long relationship with one another...not without one changing their allegiance. Therefore, if Sonya turns into a villain due to Shang Tsung's influence, they would be a happy villain couple. On the flip side, if Shang Tsung becomes a good guy due to Sonya's influence, they would be a happy heroic couple!

1995 Movie

Sonya didn't let Shang Tsung kidnap her, as the film showed. Instead, I like to think that he tried to catch her by surprise when she was trying to reach Johnny during his fight against Goro. But, because she's an experienced soldier, she managed to surprise him instead & put up a good fight.

Speaking of said fight, it's very one-sided, with Shang Tsung at the defense while Sonya kept throwing punches & kicks. Though she was good, he was better (unfortunately).

Then he gives her an ultimatum while he's got her in a hold (nothing spicy, I swear). If she admits defeat & lets him take her to Outworld, he won't call the tournament & have Shao Kahn invade Earthrealm. If she doesn't, then he'll have to defeat her & take her "strong, sweet, beautiful" soul into his collection (and also win the tournament & let Shao Kahn invade).

As confident as this Special Forces soldier was about her kombat, she's not stupid. She knew that unfortunately, she's been outmatched by this conniving sorcerer. Thinking about her friends & their kombat though...she agrees.

And that's how she was kidnapped near the end of the film.

Also, I'd like to think that despite Shang Tsung saying that Sonya was going to be offered to Shao as a bride...

The First Timeline (MK1 - Armageddon)

Shang Tsung was smitten with Sonya when he saw her beat up his guards. When he forced her to participate in the tournament, he fully intended to kidnap her & keep her for himself (after ridding of Shao Kahn before he could touch her), no matter if she won or lost the tournament.

Sonya was treated with surprising grace from the sorcerer at first, as opposed to Kano. They've even had talks (see my third general HC), but even with his revitalized appearance & good manners, she never fell for his charms. That's why she's seen chained up in Shao Kahn's kolosseum, though Shang never wanted to put her in that position.

After she escaped, it was on sight whenever she saw him ever since. But instead of feeling bad, he always appreciates seeing & fighting her every time they've met. He's still in love with her as he was before, not matter how she felt about him.

The Second Timeline (MK9 - MK11)

Like the first timeline, Shang fell for Sonya when she & Jax came to his island battling his guards. BUT, he's a lot more subtle about his attraction towards her, because like her, he was focused on his job.

Even so, this attraction did play a role on how lenient he is when it came to her during the first tournament. "You allowed them to escape," Raiden said. 🤭

But, of course, after Liu Kang's win & the invasion afterwards, Shang Tsung kidnaps Sonya anyway and tries to make her see the dark side. He saw how relentless she was as a fighter, so-

She has no time for his bullshit...and that just makes him more attracted to her.

He still tries to hang out with her, despite her being a prisoner, and she hates it every time. Though with their talks, she did come to secretly appreciate his cunning and intelligence...as a foe!

After Sonya's freed, she now has knowledge she could use to help her friends gain an advantage over Shang Tsung...as well as a few other kombatants.

Even after the events of MK9, the sorcerer still lingers in the soldier's mind. Not particularly in a romantic way, but in a way to never underestimate her enemies and what they're capable of when interested in her.

After killing Fire God Liu Kang in his ending, Shang Tsung would create his own timeline & have Sonya be his strong, loyal wife (akin to retcon-Sindel). She was his muscle with weapons enchanted by his magic, he was her sorcery in case her strength & weapons weren't enough.

Now, I COULD also bring forth my new era HCs concerning ShangBlade, but I'll withhold them...until the time is right!

Liu Kang x Friendzoned Reader: Saving Kotal

This could be a sequel to the chapter you get friend zoned, idk ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Standing aside from the group of Outworlders, you all waited for the three to come back: Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and the one that secretly makes you spite everything, Kitana. Maybe it was a good idea you stayed back. It would've been a shame if the pettiness inside you acted on the intrusive thoughts. You kept everything down though, knowing your feelings weren't important in this matter.

Kitana was to convince Baraka to side up with her to rescue Kotal and defeat Shao Kahn, hopefully all of them weren't shredded down there. It felt awkward being around all these Outworlders too. But no worries, they all return with the allegiance of Tarkata.

Letting out a small smile you went to them. "Glad you guys are back." Glancing mostly at Lao since you were still bitter about the other two. Liu sensed your vibe, awkwardly nodding at Lao before walking off with the princess.

The hat wielder pulls close to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulder as you two walked closely. "So we all are going to the Kolosseum," You already were aware of the next dangerous leap. "Liu wishes for me to tell you that you don't have to go. It is very dangerous."

You scoff and push away from Lao. "So what? He couldn't tell me himself? Maybe he actually just doesn't want me to go because... of her."

Lao grimaces. "See, this is why he made me speak to you." He murmurs before clearing his throat. "No. He just thinks it wouldn't be fair for you to risk your life for something mostly for Kitana. Though the realms are at stake. But it's up to you if you wish to not participate. He understands."

"I'll go." You sigh. "And Lao," You place a hand on his shoulder. "Don't be his messenger. You're too much of a good friend for that." You walk off.

He smiles at you when you walk away and as you go completely out of sight, his face drops into a frown. "Shit."

---Time Skip To Kolosseum---

You stood far back as Kitana lead the large group to the doors of the caged battle arena. As they were forced open, you could tell any second late, Kotal would've had his head bashed in. Standing back, you could barely hear what the princess and Shao Kahn spoke of.

"-exactly like you, 'father'." That's when the battle began, Kitana striking Shao with her fan blades and everyone else getting into it. You fought smoothly, knocking any foe that approaches off their feet with easy defeat.

Turning your head, you see Liu fighting honorably as well, but it would seem he didn't hear the enemy approaching behind him, readying his sharp weapon. Without any hesitance, you rushed to that swine, heart pumping in fear he would strike him.

You deliver a strong high kick to the back of the opponent's neck, sending the heel of your shoe through, making the swine choke up on his own blood. The sound made Liu jump back and his eyes widen as you pull your heel out, watching in despise as the Shao Kahn follower collapse dead, blood seeping from the hole you caused.

"You came!" Liu looked at you with warmth. "Why?"

"I'd give my life for you." You cross your arms, looking away blankly. You said it so simply, he stands there confused. He always sort of thought you disliked him ever since he had to put you down. The champion would've understood if you resented him all the way, but he was happy you came through.

"I owe you mine's now." Liu bows gratefully to you.

You scoff and roll your eyes. He is confused to why you step towards him until you wrap your arms around him, his mind fading out as everyone else was dying in the background and the audience cheers with glee.

But he smiles and returns your embrace, resting his chin on your head.

You two hugged it out for long up until you hear a pained yell from Kotal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I do a little trolling in this chapter lol
