Bruised and Battered
Kol Mikaelson Helping You Through An Injury Headcanons :
Tumblr media
(Prepare for immense fluff)
Sweet baby Kol...
First of all, this boi would feel sooooooo awful about you getting hurt.
(How could this happen??? He left you alone for five seconds???)
He doesn't blame you at all whatsoever. Even if you were being dumb.
If it was someone else's fault...
Well, let's just say that if you broke an arm, this person would find both arms freaking shattered beyond recognition.
Is that useless hunk of flesh even an arm anymore? Nobody knows.
He does get a little frustrated with you tho. Just a bit
Why won't you take his blood? It would make this so much easier!
(news flash: that's nasty and you don't want to take no chances!)
It physically pains him when the doctors won't let him go back with you for x-rays. He can hear your whimpers of pain through the walls and it makes him want to cry. He just curls up in a ball and waits it out.
If you have to get surgery??
Heaven help the poor hospital staff...
It KILLS him that he can't be by your side the whole time.
Kol would be pacing back and forth in the waiting room, tugging at his hair and telling himself all the reasons you're gonna be fine. Over and over and over again.
He is there the second you wake up.
Technically he's not supposed to be, but if compulsion can't keep the nurses and doctors quiet then the cold chilling glare he dishes out certainly will.
Once you're home, you will not be doing anything for yourself.
Movies.
Anything you want to watch. All day. Even if he hates it.
Unlimited popcorn supply!
He will get you whatever you want to eat or better yet he'll compel someone else to do it so he doesn't have to leave your side.
So. Many. Hugs.
Cuddles.
Cuddles all the time
All the cuddles.
Seeing you in pain tortures him.
If he accidentally bumps you he will apologize ENDLESSLY.
He's always asking what he can do to make it better
He can't really do anything and that's the worst part
You just ask him to stay
He's only too glad to do just that.
Though he certainly remembers to give you your medication. Even if it's 1 AM. He never forgets.
He stays with you all through the night. Every night.
If you wake up in tears from sleeping wrong, he's right there to hold you close.
If it were up to him, he would never let you go.
Scars from surgery?
Kol would make it his mission to keep you from hating them.
He would tell you how cool they look all the time
Also, the gentlest kisses.
He would kiss every inch of those scars.
Endless "I love you"s
Don't think for a second that you're a burden because he will go into a 20 minute speech about how he has literally nothing better to do with his immortal existence.
When it's time for physical therapy, he always makes sure you can get to your appointments.
Kol would 100% compel the therapists to let him come back with you and cheer you on (even though seeing you struggle makes him want to scoop you up and hold you until the tears go away)
He always makes sure you do your exercises too. There is no amount of bribing that can sway this man. You are doing those exercises.
End. Of. Story.
So encouraging tho. The complements are ever flowing from his lips.
And again, all the cuddles after you finish.
Constantly making jokes.
"If I rip off one of your arms, that will make it better right? I mean, it will certainly distract you from the pain!"
Kol would also help you come up with an excellent story for how it happened.
Whether it be jousting on unicorns, fencing with glass blades, or assassinating the president, there is no limit to his creativity.
Kol would do literally anything to see you smile.

You hate Kol Mikaelson.
He’s cocky, impulsive, and constantly getting you into danger that you would never find for yourself. He also relentlessly flirts with you until you’re warm and deeply frustrated.  He’s complicated enough that you wish he wasn’t a part of your life so it could resume a sense of normalcy.
Getting caught up in Mikaelson drama was never your plan. You just happened to make the mistake of working as a bartender at Russo’s—where they frequented. Klaus took a liking to you, and the rest is history. Being a human that’s friends with vampires is like poking a bear; not recommended nor convenient.
This recent conflict was forgettable but proved to be a disruption to your life. One of them annoyed someone, and that someone wanted revenge, and now apparently you were in danger, and so on and so forth. You have repeatedly debated sending an invoice to the Mikaelson compound for restitution. You don’t think Klaus would find it very funny.
You almost forgot about your life being in danger until you were forced to go on the run with the youngest brother, Kol. Kol, who insisted on driving you nuts. You kept trying to tune him out in the car, listening to the radio or focusing on the trees speeding past your window. Still, he was relentless and wouldn’t leave you alone for a minute. Plus, he was a horribly reckless driver, and you were gripping the door so tightly that you might hurt a muscle any minute.
“I’ve lived for a very long time, but I’ve never visited Fes,” Kol said, one hand on the wheel as the other tapped on the door. You barely spared him a glance. “Would you visit Fes?”
“Not even sure what Fes is,” you answered through gritted teeth, suppressing a yelp as Kol took a turn obnoxiously fast.
“City in Morocco considered its cultural capital.”
“You sound like a Google search,” you scoffed, sparing him half a glance. Long enough of a glance for Kol to give you a toothy grin, his canines glinting in the sunlight.
“I like knowing things,” he states, squinting at you. “I don’t know much about you. Tell me something.”
“No.”
“Please?” he begged, every bit a kid enjoying picking on the new kid on the playground. You fixed him with a dead stare.
“I hate your driving.” That caused him to laugh, which made him throw his head back and speed up even more. You clutched the handle and clenched your teeth till you felt your whole body would seize up. Kol eventually took pity on you and slowed down. It was enough for you to relax…slightly. “Where are we going?”
“Nowhere. Anywhere. Haven’t figured it out yet.”
“Brilliant. I’m going to die out here,” you sighed, sinking deeper into the leather seat.
“Nonsense. Nik would dagger me if I let that happen, and I’m very tired of being daggered.”
“Not because you care about me or want me to live?” you jested, quirking a brow at him.
“Now, why would I care about you at all?”
You pretended it didn’t sting, even though it felt impossible for you to care about Kol. Still, hearing him say it felt a bit like a slap in the face. You just turned more out the window, ignoring him. You didn’t notice the sharp look he sent you, as if he regretted what he said.
Instead, you notice a sign advertising a Black Bear Diner. You perk up immediately, tapping the window and looking back at Kol.
“There. Stop there.”
“That piece of garbage?”
“Yes! Stop the car!” you shouted, regretting your words when Kol slammed on the brakes. “Stop the car slowly, you asswipe.”
“You should’ve clarified that,” he smirked. You jumped out of the car, ran towards the restaurant, and experienced euphoria when the smell of waffles and fresh coffee hit your senses. Kol walked up slowly, hands in his pockets. The sun was obnoxious out here, but there were enough trees in the area to not make it feel like a desert. You could even see the mountain in the background in all its snowcapped glory.
The inside of the diner was a welcome breeze on your damp skin. It wasn’t very crowded, and you got seated immediately as you happily flipped through your plastic menu. Kol looked slightly uncomfortable sitting in the diner, but you ignored him. You were getting pretty good at ignoring him.
“I used to go here all the time with my family,” you said, flipping to the drinks page of your menu. “Not this exact location…but this chain. I went to it when I first moved to my hometown.”
“It’s barely gourmet.”
“Fuck gourmet, I want comfort. I want to feel like home,” you laughed, closing your menu. “Don’t you want that?”
“Home?” Kol inquired. “Not sure what that is anymore.”
Your lips turned down in a frown, but you offered nothing else. He didn’t seem like he wanted to talk, and you wouldn’t force him. The waiter came over to take your orders, and you happily ordered a black coffee, orange juice, and a waffle platter. After they left, you started packing your bag with the tiny jams and creamers they had out on the table. Kol just looked at you in disdain.
“You are pathetic.”
“Rent is expensive, groceries are expensive, give me a break,” you snorted, taking a few sugar packets for good measure before you stopped looting. Kol laughed, running a hand through his hair and leaning back in his seat. His leg bounced from anxiety, and his fingers tapped the table in a paradiddle pattern, just left, right, left, left, right, left, right, right over and over again. He looked shockingly young, like the boy before he turned, and not the man he paraded as. For a split second, you could see yourself having a crush on him in high school if he was one of your peers. You erased that thought as soon as it came. “Can I ask a question?” you leaned forward on the table, arms folded in front of you. “Why are you guys always protecting me? I’m definitely a liability.”
“I think my brother just wants to sleep with you,” Kol sighed. You snorted, biting your bottom lip to subvert your laughter. Honestly…you have managed to weasel your way into our family—like a parasite.”
“Aw, your words are so kind,” you rolled your eyes, kicking Kol under the table. He just kicked you right back, wearing a smirk. “And I would never sleep with your brother.”
“Why’s that?” Kol questioned, crossing his arms.
“His face is weird,” you answered. Kol put his head in his hands in laughter, and you joined him a second later. You weren’t sure if that was the reason, but it was the first thing that came to mind, and you didn’t think to change it. Plus, it made Kol laugh, which kind of made you happy. The arrival of your waffles made you even happier.
“Bloody hell, you’re going to eat all of that?” Kol looked shocked, eyes flicking between you and your waffles. He had ordered a much smaller plate than yours. Yours likely could’ve been a party platter.
“Yes, and I will do it with pride.”
You did eat all of it, and enjoyed Kol’s expression the whole time. He looked so disturbed it made up for it. You also drank all your coffee, orange juice, and free water refills. Your plan was to eat enough to enter hibernation. You even think Kol was a little impressed at some point. Kol asked the waiter for the nearest hotel, and they pointed you to a place three miles down the road that would likely have openings. By the time you left the diner, it was starting to get cold as the sun was setting. You could hear crickets; you probably would’ve gotten fireflies if you were more south. Kol drove surprisingly slow towards the hotel, which you attributed to his worry that going fast would cause you to throw up your entire waffle extravaganza. He slowed down even more when you came up to the “hotel”—which was actually just a bed and breakfast. An extremely cutesy bed and breakfast.
The inside of the building was somehow worse than the outside.
The outside had small-town charm. The inside was where doilies went to die.
Both you and Kol exchanged glances as he went up to ring the bell. You counted seven cat portraits before a portly woman came out with a cheeky smile. She wore a linen frock and a floral dress right out of the 1960s.
“Well, good evening,” she smiled. “What can I do for you?” She had a thick Minnesotan accent, and her smile made her eyes. Overall, she radiated friendliness.
“We’d like a room?” you inquired, leaning against the counter.
“Oh, you betcha! Lucky for you, I got the best suite in the house available. It’s perfect for you two lovebirds,” she chirped. Your eyes widened.
“Oh, uh, we’re not together…,” you coughed. You turned to look at Kol, who just shrugged his shoulders. Completely useless. “Do you have a double?”
“Unfortunately, all our doubles are booked for our birding convention. I might have a futon available to bring to your room?”
“Perfect,” Kol smiled, finally interjecting. “We’ll take that.”
“Splendid! Here are your keys, and I’ll have you sign in there.”
You brought your one bag with you up the stairs and to the right to a room at the end of the hall. The wallpaper was mocking you at every turn, a plethora of orchids and pinks staring at you, along with the eyes of fifty million felines. You were certain Dolores Umbridge was hiding somewhere amongst the foliage. The room was less pink but still reminiscent of something in a senior home. The bed was the nicest part: a large four-poster with mahogany bedposts. The wallpaper was sage color with pictures of ferns. The ensuite bathroom had a clawfoot tub and gold décor. A painting of a young boy eating ice cream was on the wall. You immediately took it off the wall and turned it around so you didn’t have to look at it all night.
“It’s a little…”
“Cozy?” Kol interjected, closing the door behind you two.
“I was going to say tight.”
“It is the lovebird suite, darling,” Kol whispered in your ear, a smirk in his voice. A shiver ran down your spine.
“I’ll take the futon.”
“I doubt you could fit a futon in here,” Kol scoffed. He was right. There was really only room for the bed and bedside tables. Whoever designed this room intended to spend a lot of time in bed. Your cheeks heated at the thought. You tapped your foot in thought before eventually sighing in defeat.
“Just…don’t get too handsy,” you shrugged, glaring at the vampire’s ever-present smirk.
“Handsy? You must think me a rascal,” Kol cooed, stepping closer into your space. The room was tight, which meant you were backed against the wall. You felt like a rabbit being targeted by a fox, his mischievous grin and wandering eyes taking all of you in. Your eyes were drawn to how he licked his lips, and suddenly, your blood pressure spiked. Heat crawled up your neck, and you knew that Kol noticed. He always managed to notice.
“Knock it off, Mikaelson,” you hissed, tilting your head up defiantly.
“You’re actually red,” Kol chuckled, brushing a strand of hair away from your face.
“…Shut up,” you slapped his hand away, maneuvering your way from his grasp.
“Like actually vermillion,” he laughed, and you gave him an unsavory gesture as you escaped into the bathroom, closing the door behind you. Back against the door, you breathed out, groaning into your hands. You pushed off the door, getting ready for bed in an effort to put this night behind you. You cleaned up, brushed your teeth, and put on pajamas. In hot weather, you usually just wear a T-shirt and shorts to bed. Your t-shirt said, ‘I got lobotomized at Freddy Fazbear’s,’ something idiotic that you couldn’t even fully be ashamed of. When you exited, Kol was lying on top of the covers on his phone, having changed into a t-shirt and sweatpants. He looked up when you exited, snorting as he read the shirt. “You have an odd sense of humor.”
“It’s too evolved for you to understand,” you rolled your eyes, getting in on the other side of the bed and leaving space between the two of you. Kol smelled sweet, like vanilla, and it was slowly suffocating you. You both sat in silence for a second before Kol disrupted it.
“Y/N,”
“No.”
“Darling,” he purred, inching closer to you.
“What, Kol,” you turned to look at him, eyes narrowed.
“You like me,” he said. It was not a question, just something he exclaimed. You scoffed.
“I do not.”
“You do. It’s why you blush vermillion when I call you things like darling,” he smiled, propping himself up on his elbow as he lay on his side to stare at you.
“You’re incorrigible.”
“So, if I kissed you…you wouldn’t care,” Kol inquired, voice soft as he sat up slightly. You felt your heart skip a beat, and Kol’s mouth turned up slightly when he heard it. You knew you just proved his point, but you refused to concede.
“I wouldn’t care,” you whispered, holding his gaze.
“So, when I do this,” Kol leaned up, kissing your cheek, his lips burning your skin. He kissed right under your jaw, finally on your pulse point. “…it doesn’t matter?”
You bit your tongue to stop yourself. “It doesn’t matter,” you choke out, but all you’re doing is spurring Kol on. You’re a hare caught in his trap, and you can’t even find it in yourself to hate it. Kol sucks on your pulse point, nipping lightly and moving down your neck, one hand coming up to tilt your head more to the side for easier access. His touch was shockingly gentle as if he was giving you an out. Your will was thinning by the minute, though, and eventually, you grabbed his hand, causing him to stop.
“Darling—” he starts, but you cut him off by kissing his lips, soft but passionate. For once, you’ve taken him off guard, and a sense of pride spurs through you as you part, kissing the corner of his mouth and looking at him through thick lashes.
“Does it matter?” you ask, voice breathy. “For you…” You’re not sure exactly what you’re asking, but you know there’s a line you’ve crossed that you can’t return from. Kol’s thumb brushes your cheek, so gentle from the reckless, hotheaded vampire you are acquainted with. A grin crosses his face.
“It means everything,” he smiles, kissing you again, fingers tangling in your hair. Your hands find his arms, sighing as he deepens the kiss. You’re on fire, every single part of you, and you’re sure that Kol can feel your racing heart and hot skin. You like kissing him, though, and you realize you like him a lot.
“Kol?” you breathe. “Don’t sleep on the futon.”
“For you? I would never,” he grins, kissing you again. You make sure to put a Do Not Disturb sign on the door for later.
Afterwards.
It’s the middle of the night when he wakes you up.
“I guess Nik won’t be able to sleep with you now.”
“Kol.”
“Because I’ll be the only one sleeping with you.”
“Go to sleep.”
There’s a shuffling of blankets as his arm wraps tighter around you, his breath hot on your neck.
“You’re going to be stuck with me forever,” he whispers.
You smile. “I’m okay with that.”

Let me show you who I really am
Tumblr media
Pairing- Kol Mikaelson
Series- vampire diaries
Summary- usually you’d get quite a few boys ask you to prom, but not this year. Apparently they were all scared of your admirer who wanted you all to himself.
Warnings- kissing, vampire killing, mentions of blood, detailed description of killing.
“I can’t believe it was over a month since I posted- I apologise! I will try to be more active but sitting A levels has apparently hindered my ability to come up with ideas. Just bare with me <3”
Tumblr media
It was finally the day of our school prom. I’d been stressing about what to wear, how to have my hair, what colour to use on my lips. But the biggest thing I was stressing about, was who I was going to go with. It’s not a flex but in the past I’ve had multiple offers from boys to go to dances or gatherings. But this time, nothing. Not one offer. I even went out my way asking hector wathe to come with me, seems we’d gone to a dance together last term. But he just shook his head and ran away from me. I would have been embarrassed if I wasn’t consumed with confusion about his behaviour.
So I gave up on the date thing, assumed I’d be going myself. But my girl’s picked me up, ditched their dates so they could come with me. Prom was about friendship anyway. Not a random boy I’d forget once I made a life for myself.
“Y/n? Is that you?” My mother called as I walked through the door. I smiled as she entered the hallway with a giant box in her arms. “This came for you sweetheart” she edged over to me passing the box into my arms. “What is it?” I questioned frowning. “We haven’t opened it, it’s private” she shrugged staring at the box. I could see her mind was racing with the possibilities of what could be inside. “Thanks mum” I swallowed joining in with her thinking myself. Who was it from. What was in it. I carried it up the stairs as my mum filtered back into the living room to watch whatever was on the tv. I put the box on my bed and then lifted the lid off it, curious about the details. There was a note on top of the white tissue paper.
“Saw this and it reminded me of you, thought you’d look good in it, like you do in everything” I whispered as I read it out to myself. My eyes flicked down to the bottom “from Kol” my eyes widened at the three letters of his name. Kol? Why would Kol send me a dress? What game was he playing? Sure id noticed his eyes lingering on me for a while too long before and noticed how his deep eyes compelled me to stare into them until I melted. But that doesn’t give him a reason to send me a dress. I placed the card on my bed and unwrapped the tissue paper. I pulled out this gorgeous emerald dress. It had a silver strip coming from the waistline all the way down the sides of the leg spilt. It looked as if they’d put the gems on by hand, one at a time taking precaution not to ruin or snag any part of it. The dress was slightly off the shoulders which would make my chest look great.
It was overwhelming. It must have cost a fortune. But here it was in my house, lying on my bed. All because of Kol? A Mikaelson was showing me more interest than any of the boys from school. He was supposed to be a sworn enemy, and because of that, I folded the dress back up and put it back in the box. I already had a dress. It was a lot simpler and less expensive but it was mine. And it wasn’t gifted to me by a deranged, gorgeous psychopath. No I meant a deranged, bloodthirsty, psychopath. Not gorgeous. I couldn’t have meant gorgeous. Putting the note back, I lifted the box putting it under my bed where no one would find it. I’d give it back to him if I ever got the chance. It wasn’t right to keep it let alone wear it. Plus I was running out of time overthinking this, I had to get ready.
I curled my hair after my shower and put on my red dress. It didn’t have sparkles on it, but it did have a cute leg slit and a nice tied up back. “Mum!! Can you come and do me up!!” I yelled out of my room. A minute or two later she came plodding up the stairs. She stopped in front of me smiling and her eyes filling up as she raised a finger to wipe her tear. “Oh y/n you look so gorgeous” she whimpered walking over to hug me. “Thanks mum” I whispered nuzzling my face into her neck with a grin across my cheeks. “Come on, let me tie the back” she smiled ushering me over to the mirror. “Oh- y/n have you noticed this rip?” She blinked looking at the back of me. “RIP?! Where!!” I turned around trying to have a look in the mirror. “Here?” She pointed looking stressed herself. “Oh god- what am I going to do- can you fix it?” I blinked at her in utter panic. “No- well yes- but not in time for your prom” she shook her head having a closer look at it. “Come on, I’ll need to work fast, you’ll only be a little late, take it off” she patted me on the back but I eyed the box sticking out from under my bed. “No- no it’s okay, I’ll wear something else” I blinked, not taking my eyes off it. “Something else? What else do you possibly have to wear to a prom?” She raised an eyebrow following my eyeline.
“I’ll meet you and dad downstairs, give me ten minutes” I smiled rubbing her shoulder. “Alright…” she trailed off leaving my room full of confusion. I didn’t move. I swallowed staring at the box. Would it be completely wrong to wear it? I had nothing else I could wear. Surely my friends would understand. I sighed walking over to it, clipping on the floor in my black heels. Taking it out from under my bed. I held it up over my body looking at it in the mirror. I put my head on one side thinking for a second. Before removing all the thoughts out of my head and putting it on. I walked down stairs to my parents sitting in the front room. Their eyes widened as I walked in. “Y/n! That dress is stunning where did you get it?” My mother gasped covering her mouth with her hand.
“It was a gift” I bit my lip not wanting to say anymore. “You look amazing darling, you’ll be the best dressed there” my dad smiled at me. With that the door bell rang. “That must be the girls” I smiled rushing out as fast as the dress would let me go. But when I opened the door the girls weren’t there. Kol was. He stood with his famous smirk, his hand held a big bunch of roses as his eyes looked me up and down. “So I was right, it does suit you” he joked, my jaw was ajar now staring at him. “What are you doing here- why are you wearing a suit and- why do you have flowers- why did you send me a dress?” I hissed coming outside closing the door so my parents wouldn’t hear us. “Because I’m taking you to prom” “erm- no you’re not!” I scoffed almost laughing. “You don’t have a date? So why can’t it take you?” He raised an eyebrow at me.
“There are a number! Of reasons why you can’t take me to prom kol” I laughed before the realisation sank in. “How the hell do you know I don’t have a date?” I whispered frowning at him. His brown eyes slimmed on me as his smirk widened. “I may have sent out a message to some guys- that you were taken” he shrugged his shoulders. “What?” I blinked in disbelief, my breath hitched. “I want to take you, I don’t want other guys putting their hand on you” he told me slamming his eyebrows down. “You’re serious?” I asked him in a quiet voice. “You’re a vampire kol- you’ve hurt my friend- not only that you’re an original…” I trailed off holding the door handle. “And what?” He shrugged laughing. “I’m here aren’t I? I’m not lying I’m not causing trouble- a vampire can’t admit his feelings for a girl?”. “Feelings? For me? I’m just an ordinary human Kol” “you’re not ordinary y/n- you’re different from your friends, different from all humans” he smiled staring into my eyes. “How” I slimmed my eyes at him shaking my head not believing a word that came out of his mouth.
“You think you can put me on the spot y/n?” Kol chuckled to himself. “The way you carry yourself, the way you stick to your morals, your loyalty to those you love, your way of seeing the best in people even if they have hurt your friends- you’re out here talking to me, you could have stayed in your house in the safety- so you must be slightly intrigued or trust me slightly- just give me a chance y/n” he put his head to the side as I consumed everything he dumped on me. “I will protect you- treat you right- I just want a chance to show you who I really am, I don’t want anything more to do with klaus and his mess- let me show you that” he begged, I saw it in his eyes. He wasn’t lying, if he was he was a damn good lier. I wasn’t wearing vvraine so he could have compelled me but, he didn’t. “Okay- you have one night to make me feel anything but uncomfortable around you” I raised my eye brow at him reaching out for the flowers. I smiled at them clutching them between my arms. “I’m gonna grab my bag and text the girls to meet me there- you can wait here” I told him with a little smile warming up to the idea of Kol Mikaelson liking me. If he was a normal boy this would be so much easier, he was attractive- he was gorgeous. But he wasn’t normal, he’s a vampire who’s been around 1000 years longer than me.
I did as I said I would before saying goodbye to my parents. I met Kol outside his car where he opened the door for me before getting in his own side. He drove us to prom while keeping up basic conversation, which just intrigued me more. I wanted to know what he was up to. We got to the prom location in under twenty minutes. When no one was looking Kol vamp ran round to my side and opened my door for me. “Kol!” I hissed shaking my head. “Don’t do that you could get caught” I whispered as he put his hand out for me. I took it gently. “They wouldn’t be alive very long if they did catch me darling” he whispered in my ear as I stepped out. “I don’t want any killings here tonight, or I’ll never forgive myself” I widened my eyes at him. “Yes mam” he smirked leaning in closer to me. There wasn’t much room between my back and the car or my front and kol. “I can hear your heart racing darling” he whispered tucking my hair behind my ear. “Don’t worry, I won’t kiss you until you ask me to, and you will” he winked before stepping back and putting his arm out for me.
“You’re delusional” I giggled rolling my eyes taking his arm. We walked towards the enterance and kitty Renfeild stood outside with a camera. “Hey y/n- and y/n’s handsome date” she winked at Kol who completely blanked her without him even knowing I was looking at him. His arm wrapped around my waist and he whispered “going have to get a little closer now love” he pulled me into his body. The flick of jealously I felt from kitty’s comment was what I blamed my actions on. I pressed my body against him putting my other hand on Kols chest. I heard him chuckle as I posed for the photo. “Have fun” she told us after snapping the photo and in we went. There were lot of people here even though we were maybe ten minutes early. There were flashing lights and drink tables everywhere. People were already dancing to the shit music playing. “Has Kol Mikaelson ever been to a high school prom?” I asked him smiling up. “Oh I’ve been to my fair share of dances, balls and whatever was going on in the 1920s but never a prom” he laughed catching my eyes. “And I’ve never had such a gorgeous date to attend any of these events with” he winked. “Quite the charmer ain’t you” I nudged him gently.
“Y/n? What’s this all about?”. I look up and see Elena, Bonnie and Caroline all staring at me like I’m an alien. Or, staring at Kol like he’s an alien. “Hey girls…” I trailed off as my heart started pounding. Kol clearly picked up on it because his grip round my waist became tighter. “I can explain, I have a thing for y/n- have done ever since I laid my eyes on her and i decided now was the time to tell her” “what” Carolin blinked in horror. “He’s a Mikaelson y/n” Elena widened her eyes at me. “He doesn’t want to be involved anymore” I shook my head at her hoping they’d find some way to look at this differently. “You can’t trust him- he’s a vampire” Bonnie hissed at me, her face pulled into disgust. “Well that’s why I’ve braught him- to see if I can trust him” I told them with a little bit of a shrug. The girls all looked round at each other. “I’m done with all klaus’s shit, I want to prove that- not necessarily to you guys but to y/n” he told them blankly. “I’m sorry y/n, but I don’t like it” Elena stepped back before rushing off into the crowd. Kol rolled his eyes at her “she’s always so dramatic”. “I…” Caroline trailed off not knowing what to say in this situation.
“I’m going to get some air, will you be alright for a second” I tapped Kol on the bicep. “Yes gorgeous” he nodded brushing my hand with his. That made me smile. Even within this mess. My friends hated the idea of me and Kol being together, on a serious level. Elena was ready to cry about it. But what made it worse was the fact that I thought I was really starting to like him. He was charming, he was handsome, he was bold and confident. He was my type. I made it outside to the side of the tent and took a deep breath. I had two options here, to lose my friends and continue on with Kol- or leave him now. And that was a hard decision. “Y/n, i didn’t expect to see you here”. I whipped around seeing klaus standing opposite me. He had a girl in his arms and blood was dripping all down his chin. Her neck had been torn open. Klaus’s eyes illuminated orange as fear spread across my face. “Klaus- what have you done…” I whispered blinking at the lifeless girl.
“I came to create a massacre, I’d say I’m going to start with you but I’ve already started” he chuckled throwing the body on the floor. Klaus walked a few steps towards me while I took a few back hitting the tent behind me. “Why are you doing this?” I gasped as he vamp ran in front of me. I could smell the blood that was smothered across his mouth and T-shirt he was that close. “Because i simply can” he smirked reaching out for my hair. I pushed his hand away from me scrunching my face up. “That was stupid” his eyes lit up again as anger starting to corse through his veins. I saw his jaw tighten emphasising his anger. “It was stupid to come out alone anyway” he grunted and my last thought was about to be ‘klaus is right’. As he lunged forwards towards my neck his body got ripped away from me and he flew backwards hitting a tree with a thud. I pannted looking around before finally seeing my hero. Kol stood there scowling at his brother who was in the process of standing up. “She didn’t come alone brother” Kol raised his eyebrows. Once klaus stood up he flicked his eyes between us assessing the situation.
“A human?” Klaus chuckled from a distance. “I thought you were into witches” “I thought you were into Caroline but we all know how that worked out” Kol walked closer to me standing in front of me as if he was a shield. “What are you playing at Kol?” “I like her, and you aren’t going to touch a hair on her head without going through me” Kol answered folding his arms across his chest. Klaus laughed, it went right through me making my blood boil. “I could easily get through you” “so do it” Kol shrugged letting his arms lose once again. “I’m sure we will see each other real soon little brother” klaus nodded before vamp running away into the forest. Kol turned around and came to me fussing and checking I was okay. “Kol! I’m fine- do you realise how many people you just saved” I questioned almost weak from the shock of his protection. “I don’t care y/n, you are my priority, when you’re with me you will be safe I’ll make sure of it” he told me brushing a finger down my cheek. I felt my cheeks going red. He made me feel emotions I’d never felt towards a guy before.
I pushed my body against his and wrapped my arms slowly around his neck gently pulling his head down to meet mine. Our lips met, gently at first but then Kol gripped my waist, pulling me even closer to his body. There’s something about almost dying that makes you do crazy things. Life is short, and I want to try life with Kol. No matter the repercussions.

I am like 1000% not a Klaus or Elijah stan and in fact I actually dislike Elijah (and sometimes I have problems with Freya and Kol) but I find it funny that people try to be different and stand up against the fandom's hatred of Finn, like. 😭
I always think back to this thing I read that was like "the worst crime a fictional character can commit is to be annoying". and I'm sorry but I just agree... like was Finn morally worse than his siblings? No, probably not. I never actually saw evidence of the rest of them trying to assassinate a baby, so...? Not entirely sure, I guess? To me trying to murder an actual toddler is like maybe one of the worst things you could possibly do, but that's just MY morality scale
But considering the crazy amount of murder in the Mikaelsons' past, I'm sure some babies were killed at some point, right...? 😭 But Finn was trying to kill a baby WHILE being an annoying bitch and on top of that he was a hypocrite. You just can't throw him in, give him no personality, interests or (hardly any) actual backstory and then expect me to care about him. But then on top of that most of his dialogue revolves around saying vampires are inherently poised to be evil (which he's not wrong) but then he turns around and hexes them and specifically sets them on innocent people to force them to eat them? His entire goal with that whole thing was for Marcel and his vampires to kill innocent human people... He wanted them to slaughter people on the street. Like you just cannot stand on a moral high ground and then force them to do the shit you're complaining about
You can hate your siblings because they suck, 100%. He has a great reason to hate them. But he's also fucking annoying and it's clear that his vendetta is personal instead of moral, made obvious by the above actions kjrjhhjtr so like stop acting like it's moral
I'm not even attracted to Klaus or Elijah but for the fans that hate Finn because he was annoying and not as hot as their faves.... ok? That seems valid to me 😭 It's a tv show, the point is for the characters to be interesting, hot and entertaining to watch

“Come on! Shots!” you grinned. Taking the small glass once it was presented to you, you tossed it back and enjoyed the delicious burn. Rebekah stood next to you happily following your lead.
“You know, my brothers are going to be pissed that we’re doing this.”
“Your brothers? Or just Kol? Darling, if he wanted to join us, then he should have said something before we left. Too late now. All we need to worry about is not getting alcohol poisoning, which should be relatively easy,” you grinned as your veins began to show themselves under your eyes.
“I like your thinking, Y/N. Come on, more shots,” she exclaimed.
“You heard the lady,” you compelled the bartender who had no choice but to feed your appetite.
*****************************************************************************************************
The music pumped through your blood as you danced on one of the tables near the back of the bar. Rebekah was standing a few feet away with the two guys you decided are going to be yours for the evening. She was whispering in their ears as they watched you. Their eyes were on your body, studying the way it moved to the beat.
The bar was loud, the alcohol throbbed from within, and every sense was on overdrive. Usually, alcohol didn’t do this to you, but you’ve mixed it with something a lot more fresher, warmer. Wiping the blood off your bottom lip with your thumb, you used your vampire speed to make it back to the trio.
“Are you guys enjoying yourselves?” you asked, eyeing the two puncture wounds on your guy’s neck.
“Yeah, we’re having a great time.”
“Mmm, I’m glad to hear that,” you whispered before pulling him in close. The scent of his blood still fresh on his neck was enough to send you into a fritz again. Your fangs protruded from your gums before you sank them into the same spots as before.
*****************************************************************************************************
“I had so much fun tonight,” you slurred as you tried to make your way into her house. She had been so kind as to let you stay in her mansion while you figured out your living situation with your brothers, the Salvatores. They had a big house, but no matter how many rooms it held, it still wasn’t enough space you could get between the three of you.
“Yeah, maybe a little too much fun,” she chuckled.
“Why aren’t you more like me? I think you drank more than me!” you hiccupped followed by a giggle.
“Just remember, I am a thousand years old. I can take a bit more alcohol than you can. Just go to bed, and you’ll be fine. Perks of being a vampire: no hangovers.”
“Okay,” you nodded as you stumbled to the stairs. “Where are your brothers?”
“Kol thought it was a good idea to take out the boys since us girls were out. Don’t worry, they’ll be back later. Just get some rest,” she yawned. While she may have a higher tolerance for blood and alcohol than you did, she was feeling a bit groggy.
“Okay,” you muttered as you slowly climbed the stairs. Reaching the top, you stared right at your closed door before walking in the opposite direction. In all the time you’ve been here at the Mikaelson’s, you have yet to see Kol’s room. Since you were so wasted, you decided to take it upon yourself to satisfy your curiosity.
Opening his door, it looked like a normal room. A bit neat but not overly, big but not too big, it was just right. His bed was in the middle of the room, and seeing as how you were about to pass out, his bed was the only thing on your mind.
Falling onto it face first, you tried to get comfortable but found that you couldn't. Maybe it was the blood and alcohol, maybe it was because Kol’s bed was on the west side where the sun sets, or maybe it was just because his fan wasn’t on, but you were hot.
As best as you could, you began undressing, messily taking off every layer of clothing until you were bare naked. Only then were you able to find sleep.
*****************************************************************************************************
“I told you that you would have fun,” Kol laughed as he entered his house with his brothers.
“Yes, you’ve made your point,” Elijah nodded with a smile.
“Brother,” Klaus said as he placed his hand on Kol’s shoulder, “don’t ever make me do this again.”
“Shut up, you loved it,” he grinned cheekily before making his way upstairs. He was sure you and Rebekah would tell him about the night you two had. In order to listen through that, he had to get out of last night’s clothes and into something more comfortable.
When he opened the door, he did not expect a naked you in his bed. Why were you naked? How did you get here? And most importantly, why were in his bed?
“Kol, have you seen--well, that’s one way to spend the night,” Klaus interrupted his own chain of thought. Upon hearing his brother’s voice, he quickly shut the door and glared at his older brother.
“What do you want?”
“I found her. When she wakes up tell her I need to talk to her,” he laughed as he walked away. Once his brother was gone, he slipped inside his room. The first thing he did was grab an extra blanket to cover you up. As much as he wanted to stare at your body, he knew it wouldn't be respectful of you. Your clothes were torn and on the floor, and he suspected that you got frustrated with taking them off in your drunken state.
He ruffled through his drawers before producing a set of clothes you could wear when you woke up. Once everything was set, he left the room and headed to the kitchen where he could hear his sister eating.
“What did you do to her, Rebekah?” he asked.
“She was having fun. Who was I to stop that?”
“She’s naked in my bed.”
“Then that’s a treat for you. We just had too much to drink last night.”
“I don’t see you naked on another man’s bed.”
“Okay, her more than me. She’ll be fine,” Rebekah passed it off.
“You better hope so,” Kol sighed, worried for you even though he knew you could handle your own. As soon as the effects of the blood and alcohol wore off, your other senses were waking up. The first thing you heard was Kol and Rebekah arguing in the kitchen. Normally, you would have a massive hangover the next day, but there was none this time. The only thing you remembered was passing out on Kol’s bed… naked.
Looking down at the sheet on you and the clothes next to your body, you could only assume Kol placed them there. That meant he saw your naked body; not that you minded. It’s the fact that you were so careless as to sleep in his bed last night instead of your own.
Quickly changing into Kol’s clothes, you made your way downstairs and into the kitchen where they were.
“I’m sorry,” you captured their attention, “that was so unlike me. I mean sleeping in your bed… naked. Sorry.”
Kol noticed the blush on your cheeks as he walked closer to you since you were blocking the only way out of the kitchen.
“Don’t worry about it, darling,” he winked as he walked past you. “Oh, and Klaus is looking for you.”
“Okay, thanks,” you whispered as you looked at Rebekah.
“Someone has a crush,” she giggled.

< Chapter ten: Family.
Tumblr media
“What we’re doing here Elijah?” you question him when he stops the car in front of a 2 story house, brick façade on the first story and white hardiplank on the second one.
He reach to open your door, extending his hand to help you out of the car “Do you like it?”
“How I wouldn’t love it? It’s exactly like the draw I made of my dream house” you respond while walking to the porch of the house, Elijah not far away from you.
“I tough it was time we move out of the Compound” he reveal to you walking to the door and reaching for the key on his pocket.
“And that I’m getting on Klaus nerves doesn’t have to do with any of this?” you question him crossing your arms.
He chuckle and walk to pass his arms trough your waist “I have to admit no one beside yourself have been able to keep up with me and my family” he confess.
“I have been told that” it slip under your lips.
He raised his eyebrow to you “really, by whom?”
“Your younger brother, Kol” you confess “and what about Klaus?” you try to change the conversation.
“I don’t care what my brother has to say about it” he said.
“You’re been reckless, Elijah” you announce him passing your arms trough this neck.
“Not when involves you, only when it’s to protect you, consequences be damn if been reckless keep you safe” he admit to you passing his fingers through your hair.
“I love you Elijah” you admit leaning to kiss him.
He sigh thinking about you and the baby. By now you would have 34 weeks, he or she would be the sizes of a pineapple, did you know the gender? Have you feel him... or her kick? Have you spoke to the baby about him? Why you left? Why you didn’t tell him? But the most important questions of all, are both of you safe?
A million questions keep him zone out until the sound of his cellphone make him blink several times bringing him back to reality, a reality he don’t want to live anymore.
“What is the matter Rebekah?” he question without looking to the id on the phone, she is the only one that have been calling him since he left the Compound keeping a check on him.
“Marcel call, there’s a few vampires speaking about a Winchester baby at Rousseau’s” she informed him.
“I’m on my way. Tell Marcel to keep an eye on them and don’t let them go” he demand to her sister going out of the house in direction to the bar.
Tumblr media
“Please muffin let your mother sleep” you request with your hand over your belly-bump where the previous kick was made “I wish your father was here, I bet his voice would calm you down as it did to me” the movement on your belly stops as fatherleaves your lips. “Alright I get it, you want to hear about your father” another kick was made as confirmation.
The bell ring on your door, making you leave your book aside to answer it. Finding an envelope with the name Winchester on it.
Please join the
Mikaelson family
This evening at seven o’clock
for dancing, cocktails and celebration.
You turn the invitation looking for a note, no other than Kol Mikaelson could have seen it.
Little huntress, find your way to our library, I would make my noble brother follow you.
Kol Mikaelson.
You sigh “in what mess I have involve myself?” closing the door and going in direction of your wardrobe to find a suitable dress for the ball.
Tumblr media
“You didn’t have to come with me Damon” you told him at the entrance of the Mikaelson home.
“I think I make myself clear that I didn’t want you or Elena close to any Mikaelson” he remind you between teeth’s and looking around for any treat.
“And I make myself clear that I can take care of myself just fine” you respond while scanning the foyer for Kol or Elijah.
“And I just don’t care” he exposed turning you around so you meet his eyes, his back to the entrance, he took a deep breath “don’t leave my side, please” he beg you with a soft glance in his eyes.
You open your mouth to answer him but before you could said anything, Elena appear on the entrance “it would be better if you keep an eye on Elena” you said making him turn around to the entrance where she was standing.
“Shit” he exclaim to then look back to you and see you going upstairs “got dammed” he said debating who to safeguard “why Stefan can’t keep her girlfriend away from harm” he said before going in Elena direction, knowing you could protect yourself.
“It seems she is with the older Salvatore” Kol announce to Elijah taking a sip of his champagne “I will take care of her” making his way to the stairs to follow her.
He stop him with a hand in his shoulder “I will take care of this” he prompt to him “after all we intent to make Mystic falls our home again Kol” he remains him.
“Suit yourself, Brother” raising his glass to him with a smile on his face.
Tumblr media
You were admiring the books on the library when you hear some footsteps at the door, making you look in his direction “I apologize, I was looking for the restroom when I found the library” you offer to him. “It seems been an Original vampire have some perks”
“How so?” he question you his hands in his pockets.
You turn your side to the bookshelf “For once the chance to meet the authors and as second to have the first edition of their books” you respond to him.
“Would you do it?” he ask you, you tilt your head at his question “become a vampire” he add.
“Depends” you respond without hesitation, running your fingers through the bookshelf, avoiding his glance.
“Of what?” he move around the library to be closer to you.
You cross your glance with his “if the man I love is a vampire or not” you finally respond to him, losing in his eyes briefly, feeling safe and that you have known him forever even knowing that was impossible because he is an Original.
He didn’t say anything, he just look at you while a sense of peace and comfort invaded him, a feeling that he knows you already, but this was the first time he actually saw you and that was a particular something that draw him to you, after a few minutes he shook his head and clear his throat “I think we haven’t been introduce properly” he extend his hand to you “I’m Elijah Mikaelson”
You extend your hand and place it over his. When you hold hands, there’s a palpable electricity running between yourself at the touch. “[Y/N] Campbell”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you” lifting your hand to deposit a tender kiss in your palm “please join me for the dance” he propose to you.
“I will be an honor Mr. Mikaelson.” You answer while he guide you at the stairs to the main floor.
“Please call me Elijah” he request giving you a sincere smile that reach his ears.
You smile back at him “Only if you call me by my name too” you propose “and if you provide access to that library of yours” you push a little.
“I may be able to arrange something after the ball if you would like” he suggest in a flirty tone.
“Only if you would be there” you respond also in the same tone.
“And that beignet it’s how I meet your father, because of your uncle Kol” you express softly to the baby and lay down in bed to sleep.
Tumblr media
He enter the Rousseau’s, he set his glance on Marcel behind the bar that nod in direction of the vampires he was looking, he reach for the bourbon bottle and glass that Marcel set on the bar.
“Gentlemen” pouring bourbon on the glass “I have been informed that you know something about a possible Winchester baby” taking a sip of it.
Both vampires look between themselves and then turn to him “we may have some information” one of them respond.
“Let’s talk about business at the Compound, shall we?” he offer them.
Both of the vampires grin and follow him, once they reach their destination “Please take a seat” pointing to the seat gathering around the foyer.
“Elijah, we didn’t expect you” Rebekah call him from the 2nd floor “less with company” walking down the stairs to meet him.
“Dear Rebekah, our guest have information about the Winchester baby” he reveal to her “do you mind to get them a drink?” he request to her.
“Of course” she respond, knowing he was keeping a calm façade but inside his blood was boiling at the thought of this vampires could harm his soulmate and child.
He seat in front of them and was about to speak when one of the vampires rush to do it “We want revenge, they kill our friends so we want the child” the statement of the vampire almost made Elijah stand up and rip his heart out there and now, but he took a deep breath calming his now accumulated rage.
“Why are you so sure it’s their child?” he need to be certain.
“After they left we return and we found an ultrasound with the Winchester name on it” he reveal.
“I assumed you have this under your possession” he ask a little eager to see it.
“Yes” he nod “and the wallet where it was found but it’s full of fake identifications” he add.
“Very well” he stand making both vampires stand with him “we appreciated the information but I would take care from here” he express them earning a confused look on both vampires before ripping their heart out, taking a little more time on the vampire that threat his child.
“What the hell are you doing Elijah?” Rebekah shout looking at him drop the hearts of the now death vampires to the floor.
Taking his handkerchief from his pocket and start cleaning his hands blood “protecting my family” he explain to Rebekah before kneeling to search the ultrasound.
He lift a small picture to the level of his eyes “it’s what I think it’s?” Rebekah question walking to be at his side.
“It’s” he answer her with a smitten smile on his lips “my child”
Tumblr media
“It appear you have handle the situation brother” Kol affirmed entering the Compound. “And base in your smile you know already the reason she leave New Orleans”
“Did you knew?” He appear in a blur a few inches away him, demanding to know.
He nod and rush to add “Just recently” taking a step back and raising his hands at the vampire face of Elijah in front of him “let me explain”
“Explain now” he demand almost shouting at him, the veins still under his eyes and his iris darkened.
“These two” pointing to the vampires Rebekah where disposing “got the ultrasound she give to her annoying and stupid brother, she call me and ask me to tracking them down” he let him know.
“Avoiding that the word spare between the vampires and possible reach to me” he watch Kol nod “and you accept” he add hurt in his voice.
He nod again “With the condition that I saw her” he admit “she’s close to Lebanon, Kansas with her brother’s but I don’t know exactly where” he rush to add seeing a glance of hope in his eyes “She’s a clever girl, you know her” an smile reflecting proud in his mouth “she saw me in a restaurant in town” he add.
He took a deep breath “Are they fine?” he ask him more calm now the features of his vampire face where gone now at the mention of you and his child.
“They’re” he confirmed him. “She look marvelous and your child kick as if Thor himself had raised his hammer-” he start the phrase.
“And summoned thunder and lightning” he finish with a smile on his lips “are you going to tell her?” he ask suddenly concern.
“That you know?” his face serious “she once told me I would do anything to protect the ones I love and that included put myself against my own family” he reveal “and that include her, so no, I won’t tell her you know everything”
“Thank you Kol” he reach to pull him on a hug.
“Promise me you would take care of them, Elijah” he whisper during the hug.
“I will brother, I will” he vow before pulling apart and see Kol again disappear to the New Orleans Street.

Disorderly Conduct
Tumblr media
Series: Crimes and Misdemeanors
Word Count: 10,000
Warnings: Esther herself is a freaking warning, some more non-consensual stuff... like biting. Graphic imagery and maybe some language.
Summary: (Sequel to Vandal) Kol Mikaelson had insisted he was your friend. He had insisted you could trust him. That boy's lies just keep compounding. || Kol x HOH!reader || Here lies my Masterlist
A/N: This may have to be the last thing I write for a while. I just got my first job - it's full time and I'm having a bit of a hard time adjusting from having all the time in the world to having like two hours. I'm really sorry to those who have made requests. I hope to get around to them eventually.
Story Begins Below
Hunger…
Looking into his eyes, you saw only hunger. Dark, unnatural, insatiable hunger. There was no soul in them. Only a wicked, animalistic craving.
It wasn't supposed to be like that. He wasn't supposed to be like that.
You had thought Kol's eyes to be empty pits when first you'd met him, but that had changed the closer the two of you became. His eyes weren't supposed to be dark or empty when they looked at you. Kol's eyes were supposed to be warm, full of life and light, and something that always threatened to make your knees buckle. His eyes were supposed to be like steaming hot chocolate - inviting, comforting, something to warm your stomach and ease your troubled heart.
Kol wasn't supposed to eye you as though he craved to ravish you and leave your corpse on the street to rot. That boy was supposed to hold you close, watching over you as if he would be content to do so forever.
You remembered how he'd looked at you the night before. Sitting atop your kitchen counter, with Kol between your legs, his hands on your hips, gripping you just right. You remembered how he'd looked at you then. When he'd said your parents couldn't take you away from him.
He'd looked hungry then too, but not like this. His eyes had been so warm and gentle. Those were the eyes of a sweet boy who cared about you.
These were the eyes of a monster.
Infinitely more disturbing was the sense that you'd seen him this way before. This very same image had flashed through your imagination too many times to count. You'd sketched it out - the blackness that consumed his eyes, spreading out through cracks down his porcelain cheeks. With pencil and paper, you had shaded his petal-soft lips and the vicious razor-sharp fangs behind them. You had never seen, yet you had known.
How could you possibly have known?
Vaguely, as though from far away, you heard yourself scream.
Tears stung your eyes, blurring your vision, and you watched in horror as the monster bared its teeth - its terrible, flesh-shredding teeth - and reached for you. A helpless sob escaped your throat and you felt your feet stumbling back - numb and useless. The world lurched sideways as your foot slipped off the last step of his front porch. Your ankle rolled from under you, and you cried out as you collapsed onto the gravel driveway. Pain seared white hot in your ankle but you ignored it and scrambled back, heedless of the gravel beneath you as it shredded your palms.
Anything to get away from that freak.
Then the monster froze in its pursuit. Its pale hand dropped harmlessly to its side and you watched as those deadly canines receded. The ravenous blackness in his eyes faded until soft, milk chocolate stared down at you... and there stood your friend again.
Your breath hitched in your throat.
Kol was right there - with messy hair and soft eyes, just as sweet as he was supposed to be. You wanted to run to him, wanted to let him hold you, wanted to bask in the comfort he always provided. He was the one who had believed you. He was the one to reassure you - who had promised you weren't crazy. And all along, lurking under his skin, was a monster itching to tear you apart.
Before a tear could slip down your face, a soft breeze fluttered through your hair and you felt yourself being hauled to your feet. Kol's warm, familiar arms wrapped themselves around your back and you shrieked as he pulled you into his chest.
"No! No, let me go!" You tried to push yourself away but you would have had better luck attempting to escape an iron cage. With a soft sigh, the boy lowered his head, tucking his face into the crook of your neck. You couldn't stop shaking. "Please-"
Kol shushed your protests and tears rolled down your cheeks as his perfectly soft lips found your pulse. He kissed you sweetly - gentle and chaste. You whimpered, chest heaving with unsteady breaths, and he held you tighter. Kol kissed you again, a little slower this time, a little less chaste. Your breaths evened out a little, turning to small, quickened puffs of mist in the early morning air.
"It's okay, my sweet. You don't have to be afraid," Kol murmured into your skin. "I'm not going to hurt you."
"But you're-"
"Not human?" He guessed. Kol smiled against your neck before kissing your pulse again. "No, I'm not."
You couldn't help it. Kol had always had this near-magical effect. He made you feel safe. You relaxed just a fraction and his arms tightened around you.
"You-you don't… You don't wanna hurt me?"
The boy chuckled, a darkly amused rumble you could feel in his chest.
"I don't believe that's what I said."
You stiffened, but Kol shook his head, rubbing your back soothingly before you could work yourself up to panicking again. He shushed you quietly and left two more kisses against your throat.
"No need to get so worked up, darling. I said I won't hurt you. It's a conscious choice," He whispered. "I don't intend to change it."
You could take that comfort for the moment. Fisting his shirt, you let yourself melt into his arms - you couldn't escape him anyway. What point was there in fighting?
You felt him tug on the sleeve of your hoodie, drawing the fabric off your shoulder. He skimmed his lips over the exposed skin with all the pressure of an autumn breeze. You pressed yourself closer to him and he returned the favor, humming contentedly. His sweet as caramel butterfly kisses made you want to forget everything you'd seen. Because how could this kind, attentive friend of yours be a killer?
His hands dropped down to your hips. There was no telling how many people he'd hurt - how many he'd killed. Yet, you let him touch you anyway. You just couldn't seem to run from him - not when you had nowhere to run to. How pathetic was that?
"All this time… All those people?" You hissed, squeezing your eyes shut. The thought turned your stomach. "It was all you?"
Kol inhaled sharply and a tiny, dazed part of your brain was surprised he reacted at all. He shook his head vehemently, fingers digging into your hips - into the bruises he'd left the day before. It hurt.
"No," He promised. "No, that wasn't me. I haven't killed anyone… i-in this town anyway."
So he had killed. Your only friend was a murderer.
You sniffed, shaking your head. The boy groaned.
"Darling, please don't be upset? Listen, you've done nothing wrong-"
"-You're a murderer," You cut him off with a bitter laugh. "Yet, I'm still here. That's wrong."
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I've been asleep for nearly one hundred years. I swear I haven't killed anyone since I woke up."
"That doesn't mean anything." A choked sob escaped your lips and you fisted his shirt tighter, fingernails digging into your palms. "You were supposed to be my friend!"
"I don't want to be your friend." He pushed his nose into your hair, inhaling deeply. "I want more from you than that."
"I don't care what you want," You seethed. "All you've ever done is lie!"
"That's not true," He insisted. "I could have let you think you were mad, but I didn't."
"And now what?" You demanded. "You want me to stick around? Trust you?"
The boy hummed, pleased. "That would be ideal, yes."
"This is just some sick game to you, isn't it?" The thought hurt.
"It was," He said, nodding slightly, rubbing his cheek against your hair. "Not anymore though, otherwise, I'd have killed you by now."
You laughed but there was no humor in it. "Oh yeah? And what makes me just so special?"
"I think I'll leave you to find that out for yourself," The boy said with a smirk. "For now, it suffices me to say that you're interesting, fun, and I like your attitude."
"Tell you what," He said, chuckling. "Give me five days. You can stay here, and I can prove I mean you no harm."
"And we're back to this again - I'm just supposed to trust you? Right off the bat?"
"What? No!" You protested. "I can't just… stay in your house!"
"Why not? My family's loaded," He reasoned, shrugging. "Besides, the way I see it, you really don't have anywhere else to go. Unless you want to check into the loony bin?"
You bit your lip. He had you there.
"And what happens after five days?" You asked.
"If all goes well, you give me your trust, and I'll give you the best night of your life."
You didn't have to see his face to hear the smirk in his voice. Despite everything, his cheeky flirting still made you laugh. It was a little hysterical, born from shock, residual fear, and prominent sleep deprivation, but it was there nonetheless. After all, it wasn't much of a choice you had to make. You could either take Kol's offer or check yourself into the loony bin and let a bunch of doctors pump you full of drugs until your best friend became nothing more than a bad dream.
Both options sounded like a death trap. At least being eaten by a vampire was a cool way to die.
Reaching up, you hesitantly wrapped your arms around him. It was Kol's turn to tense this time, as though he couldn't believe your actions could be real. Then the boy's shoulders relaxed and his body curled around you a little further, almost protectively, though that seemed too good to be true. His voice quieted further, morphing into something reverent.
"I promise you can trust me," He vowed.
Perhaps he was lying.
But what choice did you have?
"Okay," You breathed. The boy hummed and you could feel him smile.
Lifting his head, Kol pressed a kiss to your temple and one to your cheek. He hesitated for a moment. You felt his warm, cinnamon breath ghost over your skin. Slowly, his lips settled onto your pulse again and he waited for your reaction. Your breath caught, but you didn't push him away. What surprised you was how tentative he was. Kol opened his mouth and slowly latched onto your sweet spot.
His lips lit your body on fire and you whimpered, knees buckling as he kissed you - slow and filthy and deep. He sucked roughly on your skin but somehow he made it feel sweet, going slow, being patient, easing up when you flinched - it felt like more of a message - more of a promise - than a demand for something. Tugging lightly on your hair, he urged you to tip your head back, and you obliged, granting him greater access.
"Good girl," He mumbled. His voice sent the butterflies in your stomach into a frenzy. Kol swept his tongue along your pulse and your insides felt like molten glass. You sighed. A few more seconds and you were sure to fall apart.
Then the enormous double doors behind him opened. Kol broke away from you with a groan, untangling his fingers from your hair. He flicked them in a casual wave to whoever stood behind him.
"G'morning, Mum!"
Your heart stuttered and your face flushed hotter than the sun. You were lucky the top of your head didn't pass his shoulder.
"Kol." The woman's voice was cold and sharp.
"How are we this fine morning?" His tone was nothing but innocent. Meanwhile, his hands dropped down to grab your thighs. In one swift movement, he hiked your legs up around his torso and held you like a little kid. Only then did he turn around. You buried your face in his shoulder with an embarrassed noise you couldn't define.
What an excellent first impression you were making!
"I certainly hope I didn't just hear this young lady scream," His mother said. She didn't sound very happy with him.
Kol simply shrugged. "Not yet, but the day's still young."
"What have you been up to?" She demanded.
"Nothing too nefarious, right love?" He nudged your cheek and you clutched into him tighter.
"Uhhh…." Words seemed utterly unattainable all of a sudden.
Kol laughed and kissed your cheek. "You'll have to forgive this one," He said. "She's a little shy." His fingers dug into your thighs and you jumped. He thought it was hilarious.
"Can this young woman not speak for herself?" Kol's mother asked, voice hardening even further if that were possible.
You shook your head in the most imperceptible motion you could. If the rest of his family was anything like he was, then it was probably best to act like a harmless plaything than an intelligent threat. Luckily, Kol seemed to get the message. Two taps against your left thigh followed by a subtle squeeze.
"Oh, she can!" He said - innocent as ever. "But we've only just come to an understanding and I'd rather not have you scaring her off."
"I see."
You got the feeling Kol didn't care for his mother all that much. Moreover, the feeling unfortunately seemed mutual.
"Who the bloody hell is this?" A new voice joined the conversation. This speaker was also feminine and she at least sounded alive, however, you had no plans of turning to face her.
"Nobody important," Kol replied. Your heart sank.
"That's Nobody Important?" The voice was oddly familiar. It took you a second to place it. Rebekah Mikaelson, Kol's sister. "Wait a second… is she the artist who drew all those messed-up pictures of everyone?" You couldn't help groaning. Rebekah laughed. "I take it that's a yes." She paused. "Does she know about…"
The boy grinned. "She's been informed."
"Ah." Rebekah nodded. "That was the screaming, I presume."
"Indeed, it's all sorted now though. Right, love?" He prompted, carding his fingers through your hair.
"Oh, uh… yeah." Perhaps your usual terse responses would be taken for stupidity. "We made a deal."
He nodded as though that was exactly what you were supposed to say.
"That we did. Y/N's going to be staying with us for a few days," He explained, swinging you back and forth a little bit with the cheekiest grin possible.
"Absolutely not," His mother said. You flinched and Kol's grip on you tightened as though this woman would try to take you away from him.
"Why?"
"I know you, my son," She answered coolly. "You kill, maim, and torture, reveling in the lives you end-"
As the woman spoke, images flashed through your head. They were blurry, out of focus - moving too quick to take in - but all of them were stained red. It was odd. Those images - they almost felt as though they didn't belong to you. It felt like watching through a window where the curtains are closed but not all the way. Distantly, you thought you heard Kol laugh… but that couldn't have been right because he was growling viciously. You shivered and he held onto you tighter.
"-I will not so much as consider housing a guest until you learn some semblance of control," She finished.
"My control is fine," Kol spat with contempt. Growing serious, he lowered you to the ground. Searing pain shot through your ankle as you absentmindedly rested weight on it. You flinched, wavering, and the boy shot you a concerned glance. You shook your head slightly and instead leaned into his side. Kol slipped his arm around your back to support you.
"I've yet to see evidence of that," His mother said. She waved a hand towards you. "This child can barely stand, Kol. What have you done to her?"
Your friend ground his teeth but you squeezed his arm.
"That was my fault, m'am," You spoke up. "I tripped. It was a misunderstanding."
Kol's mother narrowed her eyes, her expression pinched and sour. It wasn't hard to tell that she'd already judged you to be dim and unimportant with no more than a glance in your direction. Her golden blond hair matched the rest of her features - straight, rigid, and utterly impeccable. Studying her appearance, the artist in you kicked in. You supposed you could see the familial resemblance between mother and son in their facial structure, yet at the same time, the two couldn't have been more different. It was in the eyes, you thought. Kol's were milk chocolate - warm and playful. This woman’s were an arctic glacier - frigid and hard.
"I doubt you understand much of anything pertaining to my son," She said through tight lips. You blinked.
That was uncalled for.
You were relieved to note that you weren't the only one who thought so. Kol snarled and, standing beside her mother, Rebekah frowned.
"Mother, I don't think-" The girl began.
"Silence, Rebekah," Her mother commanded. The girl's mouth snapped shut. The woman's cold eyes flicked back to you. "What is your name, child?"
You swallowed thickly. "Y-Y/N, m'am."
"Y/N," She addressed. "My name is Esther. I am well aware of how charming my son can be when he so desires something, but heed this my warning. You do not know him. He cannot control himself and his lack of restraint will not make an exception for you."
"He's done a pretty good job so far." You weren't sure where the bite in your tone came from - it was unlike you - but you didn't regret it. You didn't like the way she talked about Kol, about her son. She spoke like he was nothing more than an animal - wild and ravenous. He was more than that. He was kind.
"Erase her memories and send her home. This meeting never happened." She moved to turn around, discouraging any further discussion.
A sardonic smile curled at the blonde woman's lips, but there was nothing friendly about it. She waved her hand dismissively. "I say again, you know nothing of what you speak. His patience is limited and as it wanes, his appetite for you will only grow. You are human; you will bleed and my son will attack. I gave my word to this village's authority to keep my children in line. I will not allow your life to end the same way as so many others." Just like that, she was done speaking to you, turning away as though you simply weren't worth her time. She redirected her attention to Kol.
"No!" The boy beside you snapped.
Esther paused. Slowly, her head turned to eye Kol over her shoulder. She raised a brow. For a tense moment that felt like an eternity, all was silent.
"No?" Her voice was clipped - a challenge and a warning. "You would defy me, my son?"
Rebekah's wide eyes flicked rapidly between her mother and brother worriedly. Out of the corner of her eye, she shot you a pitying glance but didn't attempt to speak up. Next to you, Kol stiffened and his fingers pressed into your waist. It shocked you to note that, incredulous as it seemed, Kol was terrified of this woman. You could almost taste it in the air - something tangy, copper… pain. But to his credit, he didn't back down.
"I gave my word she could stay," He said. His voice was firm but you could feel his hand trembling. "This whole bloody town believes her to be insane. Her own parents intend to send her to a lunatic asylum and it's my fault. I ruined her reputation and as much as I may wish I could fix it, I can't compel an entire town. This is the best I can do to make repremends."
He held that woman's cold, cold eyes for a full minute, unblinking, and you had to admire the sort of constitution such a display of sheer willpower would require. You wouldn't have been able to do that.
"It's true," Rebekah finally added, coming to her brother's aid. "All of it. Kol practically ruined the poor girl's life!"
You flinched. She was right, but you couldn't exactly dwell on that at the moment. The frying pan was the least of your worries so long as you remained in the fire.
Esther's gaze returned to you, wordlessly prompting you to voice your standing.
You nodded, opting to stare at her feet instead of her face. Her feet were intimidating enough. "They're right. I-I have nowhere else to go," You admitted in hardly more than a whisper. "Kol promised."
Esther's expression soured further. She glared at you as though you'd offered her insult in suggesting that her son might not be the foulest creature on the planet. He wasn't. He'd been kind, a good friend - and that was better than you received from most.
"You wouldn't make a liar out of me, would you?" Kol challenged, daring to proffer a self-satisfied smirk.
You were suddenly overwhelmingly grateful that looks did not, in fact, possess the potency required to kill. Otherwise, you were quite sure your life would have been rendered forfeit by the icy glare Esther sent your way.
"On the contrary." The woman smiled thinly. "It's about time you displayed a little honor, my son. I would do well to encourage this sort of behavior. Very well. Bring her inside."
Kol sent her the most glaringly false smile you'd ever seen.
"Thanks, Mum!" He held out his other arm for you to hold onto and you took it, wincing as tested a little weight on your left foot. Kol adjusted his grip on your waist to better take on most of your weight before he helped you up the front steps. "Take it easy, love. We'll get you something to eat… Oh, and mother?" He paused just before passing through the door. Esther hummed, facing him. He flashed her a sneer.
"You may be the architect of my curse, but you've been dead for one thousand years. Do not presume to know me or my limits."
Esther sculpted her expression into an approximation of something motherly. "Very well."
The rest of the day flew by in something of a shell-shocked haze. Kol made you breakfast, showed you around his house, and left you alone to stow your backpack full of essentials in a guest bedroom. After you finished with that, you sat on the unfamiliar bed, struggling to process everything you'd been exposed to in one day. You weren't sure how long you spent just staring off into space. It could have been minutes - it could have been hours.
A muffled noise drew you from your reverie and you looked up to see Rebekah's blonde head poking through the doorway. She smiled and you switched your hearing aids back on.
"Sorry, what?"
"My brothers and I were just about to play a game," She said, jabbing a thumb over her shoulder. "Kol thought it might be nice to invite you… since you haven't left this room in two hours. Would you like to join us?"
Two hours? That sure looked pathetic.
You stood, straightening your paint-stained hoodie. "Um, sure. What are you guys playing?"
Thankfully, your ankle had long since quit bothering you after Kol had made you some tea with breakfast. He'd said it would help your injury and sure enough, the swelling had gone down along with the pain.
"No idea!" She chirped. "Come on, everyone's waiting downstairs."
"O-okay."
Hugging your arms around yourself, you trailed after the deadly cheerleader as she skipped down to the first floor and into their kitchen which was easily as big as your entire house. Gathered there around a table that had to be made of mahogany, sat three men whose names you knew despite having never before met them. Rebekah moved to join them but you reached forward and caught her sleeve. She turned back, raising a brow.
Your voice faltered. "Um, w-where's Kol?"
"Allocating some playing cards," The only blond of the three men answered. He was sketching something - a portrait by the looks of it - the quality of which was exquisite. "He'll be back shortly."
Your mouth worked faster than your brain. "You guys don't have any playing cards?" You asked.
Another man, this one brunette and dressed in an expensive suit, tossed a hand in your direction. "You see, Niklaus? Even this one agrees."
The blond man, Niklaus, rolled his eyes.
"My apologies if I'm not overly fond of solitaire!"
The man in the suit huffed and turned to you. "I don't believe we've been formally introduced, I am Elijah," He said. You waved - stiff and awkward - prompting a twitch of his lips.
"Hi," You mumbled. "I'm Y/N Y/LN."
He nodded. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." How old had Kol said he and his siblings were? This one certainly talked like he could be one thousand. "These are my brothers, Finn and Niklaus." He gestured to each of them.
"That's Klaus to you," The blond man snapped, rather irritably. "I suppose that makes you Kol's latest toy? I'd heard he'd brought another one home."
You stiffened. Even if you'd had the slightest clue how to respond to that, you were cut off before you had the chance.
"Another one?" The other brunette - Finn - snorted. "You say that as if it's typical for our brother's playthings to last this long." He turned to you, eyes hard and unreadable. "Can you sing?"
The sudden topic change threw you.
"Uh…" You blinked. "N-no more than other people, I think?"
Finn hummed, eyes returning to his book. "Not like Dolcina then."
"Finn-"
Elijah held up a hand, cutting off his sister's warning. "This is important, why?"
"Inquiring after our little brother's type, are we, Finn?" Klaus added with a smirk.
The eldest of the siblings scoffed. "Our brother's type is anything with a pulse. Dolcina was merely the only other of his dalliances to survive long enough to meet the rest of us." He shot you a sour glance out of the corner of his eye. "Seeing as they have nothing in common, I doubt this one will fare much better."
As your eyes connected for the briefest second, it was like something out of a dream. An overwhelming rush of noise and color flooded your thoughts. The impressions felt like memories, but they weren't - at least, not yours.
Just as before, it was sounds at first, beginning with a voice - a pleasant song that morphed into a shrill scream. Distantly, you caught the notes of a hauntingly familiar, musical laugh - something like a bubbling spring. Innocent, boyish laughter. Soft words whispered to a dying girl. Warm hands. A vice-like grip.
Blooming like impressions in watercolor, a face you'd never seen before rendered itself in your imagination. Tresses of golden blonde hair spilled out over a stone surface - the flooring of a Catholic monastery, though you weren't sure how you knew that. Glazed, dead eyes stared up endlessly, their crystal blue shade contrasting starkly with the scarlet hues staining her throat and soaking through her once pure white dress. More bite marks littered her arms, chest, and back and those were just the ones you could see. You didn't want to know how many were covered by her clothes. A rosary hung from the mutilated mess that was her neck - she was meant to be a nun one day.
You saw petal-soft lips stained with red and black abyssal eyes. Dark, tousled hair with hints of caramel catching the fading sunlight. A charming smile and dagger-like teeth.
You gasped and the images faded. The unbidden daydream lasted mere heartbeats but each one felt to you like an eternity.
What had you just seen?
You didn't realize how much you were trembling until Rebekah wrapped an arm around your shoulders. "Cut it out, Finn. You're scaring the poor thing!"
You snapped your head to her, eyes wide. She frowned and rubbed your arm soothingly but you were already halfway to a panic attack.
"Good," The man said dryly. "She could use a little common sense." He shook his head, mumbling under his breath, "Foolish girl."
The condescension in his tone was tangible enough to cut with a knife and with how hot your temper flared at his implication, you were surprised you refrained from attacking him. Of course trusting your life to the hands of a vampire wasn't the smartest course of action. You knew that! You simply didn't have any other choice! Yet he had the audacity to assume you were doing this because of some childish crush?
He assumed he could see through you. He didn't know anything.
You were glad your shaking fists could still pass for the nerves of a timid teenager.
Before you could come up with a retort, Klaus' head shot up - alert. "Incoming." He pointed. Seconds later, Kol appeared in the doorway. Quite literally. It was as though he materialized out of thin air.
"I got it!" He announced, holding a deck of cards aloft victoriously. "Now can we decide what we're playing, please?"
"Oh, oh! Poker?" Rebekah suggested with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
The dark-haired boy moved to your side, wrapping an arm around your waist. He pressed a kiss to your temple before guiding you to sit beside him at the table where he took your hand, lacing his fingers with yours.
Across from you, Elijah grimaced. "No thank you, sister. I believe I owe you and Kol enough favors already."
"That's only because you can't bluff, mate," Kol assured, whipping the cards from the box. "I'm sure you'll get better at it in another thousand years or so."
He split the deck to begin shuffling but Elijah reached out and snatched them from his hands.
"I may make a poor bluff," He said, quickly layering the cards both forward and back. "But you are a flagrant cheat."
"I am not!"
"You count cards and rig the deck. That's cheating."
"And that's why I prefer Baccarat," Kol countered.
"My point still stands."
"Besides," Klaus added, sounding bored. He gestured to you, "this one's got nothing to wager." Then he paused and raised a brow, smirking. "Unless, of course, you'd be willing to tap a vein, love."
Under the table, you clasped Kol's hand and that boy could count himself lucky that he was superhumanly durable as he'd explained to you earlier. The pressure of your grip turned your knuckles as pale as your face. He gave you a reassuring squeeze in return and your trembling lessened slightly. Perhaps it was foolish to take comfort from him, but of the murderers surrounding you, at least he was the most familiar.
"Don't be an ass, Nik." Kol scowled, pulling your chair a little closer to his.
Klaus just shrugged. "Just making a suggestion," He said. The expression he wore was that of a very satisfied wolf. "No need to get so uptight, brother. After all, what's a friendly game of poker without some interesting stakes?"
An uncomfortable blush warmed your cheeks as you bit your lip, shrinking in your seat. On your other side, Rebekah huffed.
"Quit being creepy - all of you!" She demanded. "Bloody hell. Elijah, back me up on this!"
The man in the suit didn't so much as glance up from the cards he was shuffling.
"I would if I thought my doing so would make a difference, sister," He said in a tone so dry you might mistake the humor in it for a mirage. "Please excuse my brother's lack of tact, Miss. L/N. Finn is anxious and uncomfortable in his new surroundings whereas Niklaus, I believe, is jealous that Kol seems to have made a friend."
"I'm not jealous," Klaus grumbled. "I'm suspicious."
"Paranoid," Elijah corrected. He continued shuffling. Had you not been quite so intimidated, confused, and agitated, you might have noted that his shuffling was likely better than some dealers on the Las Vegas strip.
"What's your favorite card game, Y/N?" Rebekah asked. Her's was likely an attempt to put you at ease and though failed, you appreciated it all the same.
"Oh, um…" Tucking a strand of hair back behind your ear, you thought for a moment, searching through your brain for games that five immortal siblings might find entertaining. You arrived at a surprising conclusion. "Do you guys know how to play B.S?"
An hour later, after explaining the rules, the six of you were on your second game.
"One King," You lied, laying the four of hearts face down on the pile of cards stacked in the center of the table.
Kol eyed you for a moment but didn't call you out. He withdrew a selection of cards from his hand and followed suit.
"Three aces," He said evenly.
"Bullshit!" Klaus called around a mouthful of pretzels. Apparently, a bottle of whiskey and three bowls of salted bread twists were what qualified as a viable evening meal in this house. You weren't going to question it, though you opted for a bowl of cereal instead.
"Alright." Kol shrugged, smirking. "Go ahead and check then."
"Rebekah put down an ace on her first turn," Klaus reasoned. "You really expect me to believe that out of six other people, you just so happen to have the other three?"
You glanced down at your cards and frowned. You held the ace of clubs. So either Kol had managed to slip an ace up his sleeve - which would hardly reward him in this game - or someone was lying. (Not exactly surprising considering that was the whole point.)
Kol leaned back in his chair, smug as a bug. "Seems like you've got me all figured out."
"Are you going to call it or not?" Elijah pressed.
Klaus narrowed his eyes. "I'm calling it."
Grinning, Kol reached forward and flipped the top three cards of the deck face-up. There sat the ace of diamonds, the ace of spades, and the ace of hearts.
"Read 'em and weep, Nik."
"Bloody hell, that's half the deck."
"And it's all yours."
Klaus groaned and, as per the rules, took the whole stack into his hand.
"This is what happens when you suspect everyone of bullshit," Elijah chided, laying down two cards to start a fresh pile. "Two twos."
"I suspect everyone because everyone is suspect!" The blond exclaimed, reorganizing his now enormous hand. "Looking through this, I don't think Rebekah's played a legitimate card this whole game!"
"Hey! I have too!" She claimed. "There's a three in there somewhere."
"Not where it's supposed to be," He retorted. Then the hybrid jabbed a finger in your direction. "And you-" He emphasized. You jumped just a little. "-are lucky your heart is already racing just as fast as a rabbits, otherwise, I could have called you out for half of this."
You tried your best to smile, shrugging.
You continued playing until the rest of Kol's siblings called for a mercy rule having lost to Finn nine times out of thirteen. Elijah cleaned up the cards and Rebekah was kind enough to bid you goodnight as you quietly announced that you would be heading to bed.
It startled you when Kol materialized by your side once you were halfway up the stairs and you nearly tripped. Luckily, he reacted and placed a steadying hand on the small of your back, flashing you an almost apologetic smile. Silence stretched on between you as he walked you - like an old-fashioned gentleman - back to the guest bedroom he'd designated was yours for the time being. It wasn't awkward, but he'd reached to hold your hand and you had shied away from his touch, wrapping your arms around yourself instead.
Reaching the cream-colored door, he held it open for you, smirking in that infuriatingly cheeky way of his. "My lady…" He waved you inside and you flushed, ducking your head as you passed by him.
The second you were fully within the room, Kol kicked the door shut behind him and brushed past you before flopping back onto the bed. The rapid movement made you flinch.
He looked up at you expectantly with those big, brown, puppy-dog eyes of his, smiling. A chill ran down your spine as you took in the sight. Though you didn't understand how, the fact remained: you had seen things - glimpses of horrors you didn't want to fathom. Yet, trying to equate this sweet boy with the ravenous monster you knew was lurking beneath his skin was like trying to compare a baby fox to a Panzer.
How were you supposed to keep yourself safe if you couldn't see him as a threat? His true face was monstrous but by the time his fangs came out it would be too late for you. In front of you, all you could see was your friend. But what of his family's warnings?
The teasing, enthusiastic smile faded from his lips. He sat up and his brows drew together with concern. "Darling, is something the matter?"
You stood hardly a step from the doorway - stiff and unsure - rubbing your wrist nervously.
"I-I, uh… It's nothing," You told him, trying to smile reassuringly.
"Really?" Kol raised a brow. You hummed and he narrowed his eyes. "That's odd, because you look like you've seen a ghost."
A heavy sigh escaped your lungs. You'd been holding it in all day.
"You've been a good, uh, friend to me, Kol." You paused. "Well… sort of. Y-You're trying to make up for it, I know. Point is, I don't wanna hurt your feelings."
It was a bit of a surprise to note that, not only did you want to avoid going to a mental health institution, but you also didn't want to see the smile slip from that boy's face. You liked it when he smiled.
He got to his feet and took a step toward you. "Love, I-"
A mess of blonde hair and blood flickered behind your eyes. You could almost see the blood on his hands.
Drawing a shuddering breath, you shuffled back a few places, half-hoping you might meld yourself into the wall if you tried hard enough. Kol stopped, eyes wide with first confusion and then hurt.
"Darling, I'm not… I'm not going to hurt you. Remember?"
"You say that." You shook your head. "But five other people are telling me the opposite."
His jaw clenched, and he nodded bitterly. "Do you believe them?" He asked.
"I don't want to."
Kol met your eyes for a moment and it happened again.
You saw green, a forest surrounding you. Trembling hands, warm and slick with blood. A searing pain like nothing you'd ever felt twisted your stomach and traveled upward, burning your throat. You heard a voice, alien in its vulnerability but familiar all the same. Words of a language you didn't understand flowed out in oceans of choked sobs - a cry for help, though you shouldn't have known that.
And no one ever came.
Kol cursed and tore his eyes away. The connection broke and you blinked away the afterimages burned into your memories.
"I asked you for five days," He said, voice wavering. "Will you grant them to me?"
"I don't know…"
"I understand that you're frightened and confused, but you have to give me a chance," He insisted. That boy's eyes darkened. "You're not supposed to be like everyone else."
He had to use your own words against you.
"I'm trying not to be." Shuffling your feet, you took one step away from the wall. The smile he sent you was strained but it was there all the same as he reached out to offer you his hand. You took it and he tugged you toward the bed where he sat down again. Your cheeks burned and your stomach did backflips - fear mixed with something entirely different. His smile and hands were gentle as he guided you to straddle his lap. Your hands settled naturally on his shoulders and you were pleasantly surprised when he rested his own respectfully on your waist.
"Y/N, my love, I know this is a lot to take in," He said, looking you in the eyes. "But from the very beginning, I haven't changed. You met me as I am right now. Now, I know things can't go back to how they were, but you don't have to act as though I'm someone else."
You'd never been afraid to share exactly what was on your mind with your best friend. Kol was still that boy.
You bit your lip, nodding. When you spoke, your voice came out quiet and hoarse.
"So if I told you the truth and said that even though I know I should be scared out of my mind, I still feel safer when I'm with you - i-if I said that, what would you say?" You wouldn't look him in the eyes, instead focusing on picking a loose thread from his jacket. Kol just hummed, pressing a sweet kiss to your temple. He pulled you in closer, resting his cheek on your hair.
"I think I would be thrilled to hear that," He said, with just a hint of a smile in his tone. "And I would have to wonder if perhaps that confession might be an invitation to stay?"
"I think it's more of a request actually," You murmured, resting your head on his chest. His jacket smelled like burning pine and brown sugar - an odd combination but nice all the same.
"Well, in that case-" He pulled away and flashed you an eager smile. "-movie?"
"Just until I fall asleep?" You asked.
"Just until you fall asleep."
"And then you'll leave?"
He nodded solemnly so you knew he meant it. "If that's what you want."
Then you smiled for him - your real smile and, looking into his eyes, you thought you saw a meadow bathed in sunshine.
"Have you ever seen Lilo and Stitch?" You wondered.
Kol shook his head, chuckling softly. "Love, if it came out after 1914, it's a safe bet to assume I haven't seen it."
"Well, would you like to?"
"Is it any good?" He asked, mimicking your unsure tone. This was still your best friend - his teasing still made you giggle.
You shoved his shoulder a little. "Okay smart-alec. Where's the remote in this joint?"
"No idea." He frowned, tilting his head like a puppy. "Have you not found it? I only know where mine is."
"We can watch it in your room."
For whatever reason, just speaking those words sent a thrill through your body - something like electricity and butterflies.
Kol eyed you with a cautious sort of hope. "You'd be comfortable with that?"
You nodded. "I wanna trust you."
The boy grinned and it was one of those smiles that looked like it could be made of light.
"You never stop surprising me," He mused, almost to himself. You glanced away, smiling though you didn't quite understand why.
"I try."
"And I love it," He said, pressing a kiss to your cheek. His cinnamon and spice breath ghosted over the shell of your ear when he spoke again. "May I carry you?"
You frowned and tried to ignore the rush of heat invading your cheeks and creeping lower. "Y-You want to?"
"Very much so, angel."
Your voice sounded very small. "Okay."
Far too slowly for your own good, Kol slid his hands from your waist over the swell of your hips, then down and around to the backs of your thighs. His grip tightened until your breath hitched in your throat. Your whole body was trembling but you weren't scared - not of him.
"Is this alright?" He asked huskily. You knew you were in trouble when he looked up through his lashes and met your eyes again to be sure. It was so sweet - he was so sweet.
If you spoke, you would surely make a fool of yourself. You couldn't seem to drum up any kind of language so you just nodded and quickly buried your face in his shoulder.
"Thank you, angel," He whispered, lifting you easily as he got to his feet. You probably weighed less than a feather to him.
He pulled you in flush against his chest. You could feel each breath he took and could hear his heartbeat. (You were a little surprised he had one.) Kol was warm - so very warm. Being carried by him was like being rocked to sleep, by the time you reached his room you were fully content to remain in his arms forever. After turning on the TV in his room, he laid back on his bed, still cradling you like a little kid. For once, you didn't mind - it only felt… adoring when he did it.
He asked if you wanted him to put you down. You said no.
By the time Stitch's spaceship crash-landed on Earth, you were already half asleep.
***
Poor thing was three sheets to the wind as soon as he'd started the movie. It was so sweet to watch her struggle to stay awake. She gave it all she had but once he'd started combing his finger through her hair, that girl was a goner.
His little artist was practically lying on top of him, completely vulnerable in every way, and yet she felt safe enough to fall asleep.
How bloody extraordinary.
He turned off the movie and she shifted, nuzzling closer to him. Kol smiled. It wasn't even a malicious smile like he was so used to putting on. It was a smile he couldn't keep off his face. That girl had every reason to hate his guts and yet still - even after everything he'd done - she chose him.
No one else would do that. No one else ever had.
So Kol had to smile as he rested his cheek on her hair. She had soft hair. He closed his eyes just for a second, basking in her warmth, taking in her scent, reveling in the pulse he could feel just beneath her soft, soft skin. Sure he had one, but it was weak, hardly there at all. Hers was strong and tempting - like a lullaby he wanted to sink his teeth into.
A wave of exhaustion washed over him then and it was odd because he really hadn't been that tired. He fought it of course, because he'd promised to take his little artist back to her room once she fell asleep but his limbs felt so heavy. Slowing his thoughts, that foreign sense of fatigue dragged him under before he could question it.
He woke up, according to the clock on his bedside table, mere minutes later. Yet, something felt… off. Kol frowned, glancing down at the girl in his arms. Her head was tilted slightly to the side and her shirt had slipped off her shoulder, perfectly bearing her throat to him.
In a split second, Kol's throat ran dry. His stomach twisted and an all too familiar pain shot through him. Thoughts were stripped away from his mind, just like they always were when his curse overtook him. He tried to fight, but he couldn't think. He was hungry - so hungry - and it hurt.
He tried to tear his eyes away, but he couldn't. He couldn't look away and she was right there. Her scent overwhelmed him, ensnaring his senses - strawberries dipped in sugar and cotton candy with roses. Kol wanted- No, he needed to taste it. He could hear her pulse pounding in his ears. He could feel her blood rushing everywhere he touched her, through her clothes and her skin. She was so warm, almost burning him, but it was pleasant. The tender, delicate feel of her body was so enticing. He was so hungry.
It was so sudden and extreme and unnatural but he couldn't think about that.
Her perfect pretty eyes fluttered open. Tiredly, she glanced at him. She squeezed her eyes shut and stretched. Her carotid artery stood out through her skin. It took everything in him not to clamp his jaws around her throat that very second. She looked up at him again and started, gasping. Her heart rate spiked and Kol groaned. He clenched his jaw, trying to keep his fangs retracted but her alluring scent was too strong to ignore. His eyes bled black.
The girl in his arms whimpered.
No, no, no. Her eyes were wide, full of fear. He was scaring her.
"Kol?" Even her breath carried the scent of her blood. How could he resist? "Are you okay?"
He hummed, nodding even though he should have been telling her to run. "I just… I just need a minute."
It was like a dream. He wanted to warn her, but he could only seem to listen to himself soothe her worries.
"You should run," He thought. "Get away. I'm gonna hurt you." But he couldn't say it.
"Are you hungry?" She asked. Her voice was so quiet - so kind and sweet. That wasn't how she usually talked to him, he noted. That was the voice she used when she was trying to put on a good face. It wasn't real.
Kol ran his tongue over his teeth. He tried to look at her but the perfect curve of her neck was so pretty. She was so close.
"Yes," He hissed. He shut his eyes, trying his very best to block it out.
Why couldn't he just let her go?
Her hand was warm. She reached up to touch his cheek, skimming her thumb over the writhing black veins protruding from his skin. Hers was so soft - so kind. People always ran from him. No one tried to touch him when he was like this.
He opened his eyes and met hers. She blinked.
"S-sorry." She went to remove her hand but he caught her wrist and she stilled. He leaned into her touch, then pressed his lips against the pulse in her wrist. He kissed her - a little harsh, a little needy, but Kol couldn't help it, he needed more. "Just one taste," He promised himself as he let his tongue dart out, skimming over that same spot. A growl tore itself from deep in his throat as he kissed her again, laving at her delicate little wrist, almost touching the pretty little veins just beneath the thin veil of her skin. But he didn't bite. He didn't want to hurt her. He couldn't hurt that lovely angel.
It was so much harder than it should have been to drag his mouth away from her wrist. When he looked up at her, his delicious little artist blushed so sweetly, he almost lost it. She was appetizing on a good day but now, so tiny and warm and blushing in his lap - how could he resist that?
He wanted to tell her to run, but that wasn't what left his lips.
"If you don't stop biting your lip like that, I swear I'll do it for you."
It wasn't a lie - it was never a lie. But that wasn't what he truly wanted from her.
That girl blushed further. He wanted to see how far down that blush went but at the same time, she really needed to get away from him before he killed her.
"Does it hurt?" She wondered. "The hunger, I mean. Does it hurt you?"
His curse clawed at his stomach, a black hole that could never be appeased. He just wanted it to go away.
"Yes," He murmured. "It does."
That girl bit her lip again and Kol didn't know how it happened, but suddenly he was on top of her. It was dreamlike with the way things shifted and blurred. He didn't really have control over his movements, not quite. He could only watch - like a passenger in his own body - as he positioned himself to end her life.
Yet, he couldn't stop.
So when he leaned down to kiss her, he wished he didn't know exactly what she tasted like, wished he'd never felt her velvety soft lips, wished he'd never kissed her more than he should have that first time, then maybe he could have kept himself at bay a little longer. He couldn't focus. Her body felt so good beneath his - so warm and soft and human - part of him wanted her this way for real. He could feel her breathing, could feel her chest heaving but he couldn't tell if she was scared or not. He could hear her heart, pulsing a low rhythm, wet and strong. Kol knew what that girl tasted like and he couldn't resist. His hands found her arms and he pinned her down, licking into her mouth with heat and a desire he couldn't fight. It was filthy and deep and everything he wanted. If he didn't know better, he'd have thought he was possessed as he ravished that girl's mouth, listening to her whimper so bloody sweetly.
The worst part, however, was that he did know better. Kol knew himself and he knew that perhaps not so deep within his blackened soul, there existed some sick part of him that genuinely enjoyed what he was doing to her, he wouldn't have dreamt it otherwise. Or perhaps he wasn't quite the one dreaming it. Something about the dream - and it was that or at least he prayed it was - felt oddly forced. But he couldn't focus on that.
Temptation overwhelmed him, demanding that he break away from her lips. He was licking at her throat before he could stop himself. The taste of her skin was too much and not enough, a flavor like pure honey and gold stripped any cognitive function from him. An animal-like growl built in his chest and he was sure he was bruising that poor girl's arms, but all he could feel was an all-consuming need for more. Kol felt so hungry in every possible way. He couldn't think. All he could do was trail his mouth lower, leaving mind-numbing kisses along her collarbone.
He couldn't believe what he was about to do. How could he hurt his tiny perfect angel? Even if this was only a dream, did that make a difference? If he did it in his head, would he do it for real? She trusted him…
Then… he heard her. She was speaking - talking to him.
"It's okay, Kol." Her voice was light and breathy. She carded her fingers through his hair and melted into her soft touch. No one had ever touched him like that. It was so pleasant, the boy couldn’t help the low purr that thrummed in his chest.
This was what he wanted from that girl. Kol just wanted it to be real. Was that too much to ask?
"It's okay,” She said. “You're okay. I know you would never hurt me and I care about you. So, if you're hungry, you can have a taste. I know you can't help it. I won't mind."
It was fake - just a dream - a fantasy.
She would never say something like that. She would never sound like that either - so submissive and demure. That wasn't her. It felt like someone else.
Kol knew it was a lie.
But those were her lips and it was her voice. How could he resist an invitation for the very thing he wanted so terribly from her?
Swiftly, like the fox he was so often equated to, he buried his fangs deep into his artist’s perfect throat. Biting into that girl's tender flesh was like curling up under a cashmere blanket, it was relaxing and reassuring - like he'd done the right thing and everything would be alright as long as he kept biting down. It wasn't the excitement of an enrapturing high that he usually felt. It was a comfort and he couldn't help but let it soothe him.
Oh, and that girl was screaming. His little artist screamed and cried and begged for him to stop. Kol could hear her, but the sound seemed so far away. Like a dark curse lifted, the lie, the terrible illusion which had blinded her, was gone. She sobbed, cursing his name, but he couldn’t really hear her - far too absorbed in the bliss of satiating his hunger. The girl struggled and thrashed, but he just tightened his grip, keeping her pinned. Kol hummed and bit down a little harder - he couldn't explain why, but it felt so good. The instant her blood met his tongue, he knew this could only be a dream - it was hot and thick but he couldn't taste her, not quite. He wished he could. She would probably taste like strawberries and everything sweet.
Maybe one day she'd let him taste her for real. She could learn to trust him. After all, she would never have to know about this dream.
Kol drank her until the warmth in her skin faded away.
Then he woke up.
And Y/N was still screaming.
***
The first and only thing you could do was lash out.
No ordinary dream could be that vivid, nor remain so clear in your mind. It was as unnatural as his insatiable appetite, or the demonic blackness you found yourself waking to.
The second your eyes snapped open, you shoved yourself away from that… that thing. Your foot collided with his knee, imparting enough force to warrant an audible crack. Scrambling off the bed, your hand slipped on the edge and you toppled backward.
Your head cracked against the hardwood floor of his bedroom.
Pain exploded throughout your entire body. Ears ringing, lights flashed in your vision and the world blurred. Your thoughts - the few you had - stilled. You couldn't move and you couldn't run.
That disgusting predator lunged. Just like in that horrid dream, he positioned himself over you and you couldn't fight back. You wanted to, but your body wouldn't cooperate. Obsidian eyes faded to milk chocolate, blinking rapidly. His fangs retracted and he looked like that sweet boy again. But no.
He had bitten you.
It may have been a dream, but you knew he had been the one to make that choice. Somehow, some way - the two of you had shared an unconscious thought. Kol had been there and he had chosen to hurt you.
He'd enjoyed it.
He'd liked holding you down - relished manhandling you. Why else would he have chosen to do it?
You hadn't been able to tell him no, your mouth simply refused to form the words. You'd listened to yourself offer him a chance to feed on you. He'd been so eager, so hungry.
That was gone now, you noticed as you reached up and fisted his shirt, staring blindly off into the space overhead. You tried to speak but all that came out was a pathetic keen. You wanted to shove him away, scream at him for lying to you yet again. But you couldn't. White hot pain pulsed at the back of your skull and your stomach turned with a looming nausea. Your limbs couldn't seem to do anything but pull that boy in closer to you.
Through the tears blurring your vision, you thought you saw his expression contort into one of desperate worry. He cried out for his sister, though it took you several seconds to understand the words on his lips.
"Rebekah! REBEKAH GET IN HERE NOW!"
You blinked slowly, in a daze, attempting to clear the spots from your quickly dimming field of view but it was fruitless. Kol's hand gently brushed your hair back from your forehead but you flinched away from him. You wished you could curse his name but the only sound you could make was another feeble keen.
"Just keep those pretty eyes of yours open, okay?" The boy was saying
He stroked your cheek, forcing his lips to smile. "Alright, darling? It's gonna be fine. Jus-just don't close your eyes."
You didn't want to listen to him very much. Why should you? That boy would end your life one way or another - be it by accident or for entertainment. You'd rather pass out and die from a concussion in your sleep than experience Kol's teeth in your neck again.
Dream or not, that boy's mouth had felt all too real.
You didn't try to stifle the bitter huff of a laugh that escaped your lips before your head lolled to the side and your vision blackened.
"No… No, no, no! Y/N/N!!!" Your former friend's voice cried. "REBEKAH!"
No one came.
"Rebek-" His sister's name was cut off by a soft sound - if you hadn't known better, you would have thought it a sob. "No. No, NO! Y/N, please… just stay awake. You have to stay awake!"
Your thoughts drifted and sank beneath the rolling waves of unconsciousness.
"ELIJAH?! KLAUS?!" He called desperately. "ANYONE?!"
Still, there was no answer.
"...Please?"

I Was Feeling Heroic Chapter 18;
Chapter 18 - I Was Feeling Heroic Series.
First Season.
Second Season.
Tumblr media
Alex's eyes roam over the page in the book in front her when her penthouse door opens, she hadn't seen or spoken to any of the Mikaelson's after that night when Klaus had stabbed her with the dagger that was supposed to be for Kol, she had received messages that they had awoken Elijah from his temporary death by supposedly killing the hallow, but the city was still roaming with dark magic and it was effecting Alex, and probably every witch in the city.
"Have you been avoiding me?" Elijah says from behind her, she lets out a soft sigh.
"I haven't been avoiding you," Alex says while turning around to look at him, her book laid on the kitchen counter while she was leaning on the counter reading it. "I'm simply trying to find something that can be used to kill the Hallow."
"The Hallow's dead," Elijah states as he takes a step towards her.
"It's not!" Alex says loudly. "I can still feel it, I can still feel the dark magic lurking in the city." Elijah tilts his head in confusion at her statement. "It's still here."
"Then what do you suggest we do? What is the plan? How do we track it?" Elijah asks, Alex licks her lips. "More importantly, how do we kill it?"
"I don't know," Alex says, she runs her fingers through her hair. "I don't know, I've been searching for days in every single damn book, but I can't find anything." Elijah speeds towards her, gently placing his hand on her cheek.
"We'll find a way, there is must be a way," Elijah says, Alex placed her hand on top of his.
"I don't think there is this time." Alex mumbles. "And if there is, I haven't found it yet." She pulls his hand away from her cheek.
"There has got to be a way," Elijah says, Alex looks down at their hands as she begins playing with his fingers. "But first, I think we must talk about what you saw, experienced inside my mind."
"There's not much to talk about, I get that you did some things in your past, most of them for your family, some things, willingly," Alex says as she looks up at him. "But why Santino? I know what he said, but..." She lets out a sigh. "He tried to get me to stop using."
"My anger at that time was indescribable, I wanted to blame everyone other than myself," Elijah says. "You wouldn't have stopped drinking, to stop one addiction, another one will replace it." Alex nods her head. "I might be wrong, but I believe you could have spiralled further down with just the use of alcohol."
"We'll never know, will we?" Alex says, Elijah shakes his head. "Then I suppose we should move forward, but don't think that I've forgiven you for murdering my friend."
"My apologies," Elijah says, they lean closer to each other. "I'll spend an eternity trying to fix my mistakes, perhaps one day you can forgive me for that mistake." She inhales deeply. "And I'm sorry for harming you."
"Harming me? Pfft, you can't harm me." Alex says. "Not easily at least." Elijah softly chuckles.
"I could've easily scared you off, then we wouldn't be here right now," Elijah says. "Not like this."
"You're going to have to do a shitload more to scare me off, Elijah," Alex says, Elijah's lips brush against hers, he could still taste the kiwi fruit she had been eating before he arrived, she could smell the familiar scent of old books on him, they slowly break the kiss, just enjoying the moment in each other's presence.
"I should go inform everyone that the Hallow is still roaming the streets of the city," Elijah says, Alex nods her head as he takes a step back. "But I will be back soon."
Tumblr media
They had run out of time to find a weapon, they needed to get rid of the thing quickly and the only option was to place the spirits of the Hallow into four Mikaelson siblings, Alex stood in the abattoir watching as Vincent prepared a spell that would split the Hallow in four and into the Mikaelson siblings, Hayley was seated on the floor with an unconscious Hope in her arm, The Hallow hiding inside her.
"Kol, if you would, right there," Vincent says pointing to a spot where he needed Kol to stand. "And Rebekah, right there, perfect." Marcel walks into the abattoir, he had heard about the spell that was going to take place and wanted to make sure it worked.
"What the hell are you doing here? Did you come to gloat?" Rebekah asks.
"No, I came to make sure that this works," Marcel says as Elijah and Klaus walks into the room, Elijah walks towards Alex.
"Thank you for coming," Elijah whispers, she nods her head.
"I'm sorry I couldn't find anything," Alex whispers, Elijah wraps his arms around her and softly kisses the top of her head.
"It's okay, we'll keep searching," Elijah says. "Wherever we go, we'll keep looking." He unwraps his arms from around her.
"Elijah," Vincent says, Elijah turns to face him. "I need you right there at the top." Elijah moves into the spot on the floor into one of the four corners. "Klaus, right there for me, please." Klaus walks towards his spot. "And we are ready." The Mikaelson siblings look at each other as it slowly creeps in what was about to happen. "I just want to say that what you guys are doing here today is gonna go a long way towards setting things right in this city, The Hallow took everything from me, it inspired nothing but suffering and torment, it's ruined families, it's gone after little kids and yet, here and now, despite all of our differences, and there are many." He places a hand on his heart. "Thank you." He looks at Klaus, Klaus nods his head not needing to respond. "Freya." Freya walks towards him.
"The savage Mikaelsons heroically defeating a terrible evil," Rebekah says. "Maybe this will finally earn our redemption."
"Do any of us really believe that?" Klaus asks.
"Not for a second," Elijah says. "It's a wonderful sentiment." Freya and Vincent take hold of each other's hands and kneels down onto the floor.
"Hayley, when I tell you to, I want you to take the manacles off, hold onto Hope, do not let go of her, everybody else," Vincent says. "When this spell is over, you got to get away from each other, and you have to stay away from Hope." Rebekah takes in a deep breath as Elijah and Klaus looked at each other.
"Always and forever, we had a good run," Rebekah says.
"Yeah." Elijah sighs.
"Diviser... Diviser ak konkeri. Diviser ak konkeri. Diviser ak konkeri. Diviser ak konkeri Chire apa ak po. Ak konkeri. Ak po." Vincent chants, Alex could feel the power of the spell as it was being performed. "Hayley, do it now, do it now, Hayley!" Hayley removes the manacles from Hope's wrists and the Hallow's spirit was pulled from Hope, Alex could see the spirit being divided into four parts before each part entered one of the four Mikaelsons.
"I can heat it," Rebekah says. "Whispering."
"Okay, you guys need to go, now!" Vincent says, Kol was the first to speed away followed by Rebekah, Alex walks towards Elijah and places her hand on his shoulder, she glanced at Klaus before teleporting herself and Elijah away.
Tumblr media
Alex and Elijah stare at a broken and burned mansion that once belonged to the Mikaelson's, Elijah had contacted Vincent and Marcel to meet with him, Alex knew what his plan was and fully supported him, not yet knowing the consequences of the spell, Marcel approaches them and looks at the mansion as well.
"Excuse me, I'm going to go see if Vincent has everything he needs," Alex says, Elijah nods his head and Alex walks away from them, she approaches Vincent as he prepared everything for the spell.
"I'm glad you're alone," Vincent says as he spots Alex, he stood from the ground. "I need to explain something to you, I need to warn you."
"About what?" Alex asks as her brows furrowed.
"Once we do this, once Marcel compels him to forget, he will forget everything." Vincent begins, Alex nods her head.
"That's the purpose of this, isn't it?" Alex questions as she pushes her hands into her pockets, she could see his hesitation for a moment.
"There isn't a way around it, he's gonna forget everything," Vincent says. "He's not going to remember ever meeting you, all the memories you two have together." She runs her hand through her hair as she realized what he was trying to tell her.
"He's not going to remember me, at all," Alex whispers, her eyes dart around. "I mean, I kinda figured, but he was positive that there would be a way around it." Vincent nods his head.
"I'm sorry, Alex," Vincent says, she lets out a sigh.
"No, it's... it's okay." Alex says as she spots Marcel and Elijah walking towards them. "It's just going to make me work so much harder trying to find something to destroy it." He nods his head knowing that she would be looking everywhere for answers.
"So, how do you know that this will work?" Marcel asks.
"All of Vincent's power, he can open my mind, allow you to compel me, to release me from always and forever," Elijah explains.
"The Hallow's too powerful, it's gonna tempt him to try and get back with his siblings." Vincent begins explaining. "If we don't do this, the Hallow's gonna come back."
"What if we're just creating a monster here," Marcel asks.
"I am a monster, you, of all people, know that," Elijah says, Marcel glances at Elijah before looking back at Vincent.
"Okay, okay, but how do I compel an original?" Marcel asks.
"Marcel, you haven't even begun to tap into all that power our Ancestors put inside you, now, if we combine that with my spells, we can wipe out centuries of family drama," Vincent says, Marcel looks at Elijah.
"Are you sure you really want that?" Marcel asks.
"Yes," Elijah says, he was hoping for a long happy life with Alex, no family drama in between.
"All right," Marcel says, Elijah smiles and turns to look at Alex.
"So, uh, before you're not completely you anymore," Alex says as she steps closer to him. "How about one final kiss before we enter our new life?" She could feel her heartbreaking with each word.
"Of course," Elijah says. "I can not wait to start our new life together." She softly smiles at him as she stops in front of him, he places his hands on her hips as he leans down, she leans closer to him, taking in the scent of old books, wine and a burning fire, a scent that she would soon have to forget, put in the back of her mind, she pulls away. "I'll see in you a moment, love." Alex takes a step back from him, giving him a faint smile.
"Yeah," Alex whispers. "See you." Marcel steps closer to Elijah and Vincent steps up behind him.
"Louvri, louvri animo. Pémét pou accessum." Vincent chants, he looks at Marcel. " Okay, do it now." He steps out of the circle, joining Alex by her side, a tear slips down her cheek.
"Your vow, the promise to forever and always, forget it, all the pain that went with it, all the love, forget it, the family you cherish, the vow that you have honoured, forget it, let it go." Marcel compels.
"I should go." Alex mumbles, Vincent nods his head knowing that it must be painful for her to watch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alex stood on a hill just outside New Orleans staring at the city as the lights were just being turned on, the sun had started to set and she needed to be alone.
"Fancy seeing you out here," Klaus says from behind her. "Should you not be with my brother?" Alex sucks in a deep breath.
"Elijah had requested that Vincent and Marcel erase his memory," Alex says. "It was the right thing to do, but..." Alex lets out a sigh. "There wasn't any way around it."
"He doesn't remember you," Klaus says, Alex nods her head.
"No, he doesn't." Alex softly says. "But it's for the best, for now." Klaus nods his head, he looks towards the city as her gaze hadn't left it since he arrived.
"I'm sorry." Klaus begins, Alex turns her head to look at him. "For stabbing you with the dagger, for making you feel like you're being used by us." Alex nods her head. "But I'll never forget the times that you saved us, rescued us when we needed it the most." Klaus turns to face her. "I know I don't have any right to ask any favours from you, but I need you to keep my daughter save."
"Are you really sure you should be asking me to do that?" Alex asks, he tilts his head in confusion. "I couldn't even save the day today." She looks towards the city. "I was feeling heroic, yet I couldn't become the hero."

A/N: Sorry, I only included #12 in this one! :)
It has been a stressful week at work, so here I am at Rousseau’s, drinking away the night. Luckily Camille is working a shift today, that way I wouldn’t feel completely alone in this crowded vicinity. The glass before me is nearly empty as I’m in a daze, spinning the liquid around.
“Hey can I get you a drink?” A male voice beside me asked, vaguely snapping me out of my daze. I glanced at him lazily before bringing my view back to my empty glass.
“No I’m good. I got it.” I replied in a stale tone, evidently disregarding him.
He sighed dramatically and it brought me to finally grant him my attention. “Come on. You’re too pretty to pay for your own.”
I paused momentarily before obliging, shrugging. “Ah what the hell.”
A couple of free drinks in, we exchanged outrageous stories along with smiles and laughter. I didn’t find myself attracted to my new acquaintance. It was just relieving to have a nice conversation with a local for once. This city is just filled with tourists.
As I’m gulping down the last of my drink, I suddenly feel a hand at the small of my back. To break the awkward tension only I’m feeling, I slam my now empty glass on the atop the bar counter, setting my feet to the floor to stand. Thankfully, He shifted his hand away.
“I’m glad to have met you. How about another?” He asked, smirking.
“No I’m fine.” I glanced away nervously. “I’ve had a lot to drink. I should get going. Thank you though.”
Before I could turn to walk off, he grasps onto my wrist. “Already? The night is still young, beautiful.”
My eyes flickered at my captured wrist and my stomach turned from the unwanted nickname. I guess having a nice conversation gets mistaken for flirting nowadays? I thought to myself, narrowing my eyes.
“Yeah I’m aware. But I’m tired. It was nice meeting you though.” My annoyed tone was obvious but still didn’t release me. I glanced around the room to catch Camille’s attention, but she was extremely occupied pouring drinks left and right.
Suddenly, he pulled me so that my hands landed on his chest. His breath reeked of liquor and cheap cologne. “Let’s go back to my place.”
He nearly fell backwards when I used all of my force to shove him away. “Touch me again and I’ll skin you alive.” I snapped, voice laced with fury.
“Jesus lady! Not my fault you led me on.”
“I think it’s best you bugger off.” A familiar male voice sounded behind me. I didn’t need to look over my shoulder to know that it’s Kol Mikaelson.
Tumblr media
“And who the hell are you?”
“Her boyfriend.” Kol stated. I snorted at his statement because he wishes he was my boyfriend. But I guess I’ll play along.
The man scowled at me. “You never once mentioned having a boyfriend.” I shrugged in response and he started exiting the building, shoving past Kol.
“Very funny, Kol. My boyfriend?” I chuckled, shaking my head. “Yeah right.”
“I can dream. Can’t I?” He folded his arms in front of his chest, wearing his signature smirk.
“Well thanks for coming to my rescue I guess.”
“Since I did you a favor, you owe me a date.”
I sighed. “Fine. But take me somewhere nice.”
Kol has been quite determined in taking me out, but I’ve been rejecting his requests. Though I do find him attractive, I can’t allow myself to give into his charm so easily like majority of women in the past have. But since Kol did do me a solid, I figured I’d finally grant his wish.
“Friday at 8pm. And don’t be late.” I said sternly, lifting a brow as Kol grabbed ahold on my hand, planting a kiss over my knuckles.
“You have my word. And wear a little black dress for me.” He was obviously feeling smug.
“Yeah yeah yeah.” I brushed past him without a backwards glance.

Monster Among Men
Pt 2
Rebekah, Klaus, Elijah, Freya
Kol Mikaelson: “It's time for me to admit that I'm an Asshole”
You knew Kol when he was an original vampire. You had become his anchor at one point, allowing him to make mistakes but ultimately helping him from being a ripper to a semi-decent vampire. You had mourned him when Jeremy Gilbert had killed him. Had nearly a heart attack when he popped up out of the blue one day in some other body. “A witch.” you had repeated as he told you about the last month of his life. You knew he and his family had once been witches so finding out that his mom had put him in that new form hadn’t disturbed you as much as it should have. It also wasn’t that you were unaware of witches or any supernatural creature but rather you were concerned about this new face and the authenticity of it all. But still, you were around whenever he called, had spent hours with him researching a witch who could potentially end the vampire species entirely. That wasn’t exactly what he had told you rather he told you that she was a treat to his family and you believed him without much evidence. But you were there with him laughing and joking as he created spell after spell to locate her and her secret weapon. It wasn’t until Finn has hexed him you couldn’t breathe. The fact that you had lost him yet again had made you irritated and yet something about his friendship with Davina had made you second guess everything. When you had begged him pleading with him to ask Davina for help in healing him that you finally realized why he wouldn’t ask for her help to heal him. He had played you, pretended to care about you when he was flirting with the child he allegedly thought was a threat. You moved on though, two years after Finn had hexed him and he died you had left town starting a new life in another town, getting a job as a waitress and renting out a small bungalow barely finished because you didn’t care enough to. Nothing had prepared you for Kol Mikaelson himself sitting on your doorstep in his original body. Your heart nearly popped out of your chest. “How?” your voice was low and you were pretty sure he hadn’t heard you until he stood to his full height crossing his arms across his chest. “Hi, love.” his accent rang through your ears and you lost it hitting him in the chest with the side of your fists. You couldn’t believe him. You couldn’t believe how he could search for you after all this time where you thought he was dead. He let you hit him until your tears started down your face. “How,” you screamed, looking at him filled you with so much anger you couldn’t believe. “Rebekah brought me back,” he stood taller as you walked the few steps to your front door. You were done looking at him but your heart still kept you in place listening to him. “I’ve been looking all over for you for a year.” his words were rushed, fearful that you’d go in leaving him alone. You let out a growl. “Your such a liar!” you yelled, which was true because you had left Rebekah with your new address, had told her to come by anytime she’d like. “I want Davina more than I wanted this.” he gestured to the air between the both of you. “I spent the last year trying to make it work with her but she’s different- I just, I’m sorry love.”  the air seemed to leave your lungs at how honest he was. “I wouldn’t have cared if you had chosen Davina, I just wanted to know you were okay Kol. I just wanted you to be happy,” you screamed. Your neighbors were probably peeping out their curtains to see you with a boy whose ripped your heart out right in front of you. “Okay, maybe it’s time for me to admit, I’m an asshole…”
