#kokichi gets out. he laughs off monokuma. he has to stand there as not-mastermind he remains a little shit but maybe dials it down like 20%

hello and thank you everyone for voting so far! I am genuinelly so positively surprised by the sheer number of votes AND ALSO the interesting results! All the answers have been picked at least once, which to me shows just how cool the writing of this trial really is and how much space for interpretation it offers. But there's also been a clear winner so far. I love how much appreciation for both Kokichi and Kaito as characters hides in that choice. tbh I simply wanted to gush over this iconic trial a bit and get an idea of where the fandom's consesus on it is, and so this has been delightful to see :) thank you again, excited to see more takes, hope you have a good one
I'm just really curious about how people view this aspect of the trial because (to my knowledge) it has never been addressed in the game directly.
More detailed versions of the answers are below:
Kokichi thought his spinal injury was too serious for him to stay alive and sharp until the class trial even with the antidote having gotten rid of the poisonous part
Kokichi (correctly) assumed that Kaito wouldn't trust him enough to believe that he wouldn't seriously try to get everybody killed to end the killing game. He thought Kaito would refuse to get crushed as to not let him do whatever he wanted in the class trial.
Kokichi wanted to be the mysterious enigma 'till the very end. He didn't want others to know his true intentions to such an extent that he chose dying before having to explain that he wasn't actually the mastermind and he also apparently wasn't even that evil (awkward :S)
Kokichi wanted to give Kaito a chance to prove he is truly "not boring" and so he forced him in a position where Kaito had to abandon his morals and lie to his friends in order to make Kokichi's death not completely in vain
Kokichi became a bit delusional at the end (the stress of the killing game plus poison in the bloodstream) and really started to believe that he, the big bad guy, should be the one to be mercilessly murdered, for whatever unhealthy reason
Kokichi had been planning on being the victim of the unsolvable case for sooo looong and didn't want the amazing detailed script he wrote to go to waste (yes, reminds me of Korekiyo's seesaw trick)
Kokichi somehow knew Kaito was seriously sick and he wanted to give Kaito the chance to achieve being the first blackened who technically wasn't executed by Monokuma (another "fuck you" to the killing game)
Kokichi didn't actually want to sacrifice everyone to end the game: he knew very well that Kaito would fold in in last minute but he also understood that the Luminary's heroic exit would inspire the others to fight the killing game and succeed in ending it somewhere down the road. He had realized that with the image he had made for himself, his own execution could never have such a positive impact on the group and therefore couldn't be used in bringing the whole game down anyway (this is my personal favorite tbh)
#love the points made by both of the people who tagged you are both correct and have awesome minds#btw wanted to add that I suppose this works with the assumption that kokichi COULD execute the plan perfectly in a way that#would make Shuichi think in the last moment of the trial that it was Kaito in the exisal#so they would be about to vote Kokichi but then Kokochi would switch to Kaitos voice and 'confess' without leaving the exisal#and make them ALMOST vote wrong BUT THEN BOOM#in the last second#after his last moment of trickery with the Kaito sentiment#kokichi gets out. he laughs off monokuma. he has to stand there as not-mastermind he remains a little shit but maybe dials it down like 20%#and maki would have to stomach that even though he killed kaito#he also saved Maki from becoming the blackened#and he let Kaito die with a clean slate. even if it was not as courageous#maybe hed be appreciative of shuichi trusting 'kaito' so much and though he wouldnt appologize he wouldnt laugh him off#cause after all it became shuichis most powerful weapon there at the end and he used it to get to the actual right answer!#plus the only way kaito would agree to being the victim would be if he TRUSTED kokichi wouldnt do anything insane in the trial#so I think he would at least respect it as a tool for achieving something more#just like kaito learned in the original trial how important lying can be in a dirty fight against a ville unfair enemy#ufff okaaay WELL I wrote all thag here huh please dont let it sway your vote I just had a moment of inspo#txt#💜#kokichi ouma#kaito momota#drv3 spoilers#drv3

never alone
request: could I get a kokichi x reader hurt/comfort imagine? like, kokichi has a bad day and ends up opening up to his s/o and then s/o totally babies him? makes him a bath, cuddles him and gets him snacks etc- really just pampers him and makes him feel all special and soft? (bonus points if there's atleast one forehead kiss involved) anyways, thank you, and I'm sorry if requests aren't open/you can't do this one qwq
characters: kokichi ouma
notes: i’m not really sure if this fits your request that much, but i really liked how this turned out and i hope you do too
cw: canon violence and language
kokichi was not well liked and he knew that. being trapped in this school for gifted juveniles with sixteen other students - that number slowly dwindling - only made it worse. everyone believed that cooperation with each other would be best to defeat the headmaster named monokuma, but kokichi knew that wouldn’t work. this was a sick game that wanted everyone to fall into despair, if everyone corporates they’ll be hit with a even bigger motive then someone will die and that fake trust they had for each other would go down even more.
yet kokichi didn’t need everyone to like him, just one person, s/o was the only person he actually trusted and despite the constant lies he told, they trusted him too. they were someone he knew he could depend on even if others wouldn’t stand behind him. he could let his facade down in front of you, he didn’t like this killing game; actually he despised it with his entire being. he doesn’t want anyone else to die, he wants to confront the mastermind.
the morning announcements had went off not long ago and the remaining students- excluding kokichi - had met in the dining hall as usual. you sat alone in the corner eating breakfast waiting for kokichi to arrive, it did worry you when he didn’t appear at the same time as everyone else, but you don’t want to imagine that someone might’ve done something over night.
“gonta has plan,” the ultimate entomologist breaks the silence gathering everyone’s attention. you look up, also interested in what he would say. “gonta will fight exisals so everyone else can escape.”
“are you crazy! they’ll kill you!” tsumugi exclaims.
“what are you guys talking about?” kokichi opens the door to the dining hall making a beeline towards where you were sitting.
“gonta wants to fight the exisals so we can all escape.” you tell him. kokichi laughs, “wow gonta you really are dumb.” everyone goes silent.
“you’ll just end up dying, but i guess that’ll make the killing game even more fun so go ahead ahead and do it!”
“kokichi-“ shuichi begins but is quickly cut off. “in fact, i plan on winning this killing game and i don’t care if i have to become a blackened to do so. only two people have to survive right? so it’s gonna be s/o and i, all of you will di-“
kokichi didn’t even get to finish before kaito punches him on his face. “you always been weird but this is a different level kokichi, you need to get your shit together.” kaito states staring that the boy.
kokichi says nothing, his hair covering his face only thing visible is the red mark that was on his cheek. he walks off in silence leaving everyone in the dining hall, “seriously how the hell do you deal with him? are you seriously okay with what he’s saying?” kaito asks you.
everyone’s eyes turned to you and you freeze, what could you say? you knew kokichi was lying but even if you tell them that his motives will still be unclear to everyone else. you stand up running out of the dining hall without saying anything, you had to know if kokichi was alright first.
it took multiple tries but kokichi finally opened his door for you, you locked it behind yourself both of you sitting on his bed.
“are you alright?” you whisper resting your fingers in his hair, he closes his eyes leaning into your touch. he shrugs, “my face seriously hurts,” he says. you smile slightly pressing a light kiss to his swollen cheek.
“i’m sorry i should’ve stepped in,” you admit, kokichi looks at you. “no you shouldn’t have, if kaito would’ve punched you i would’ve killed him.” he gives you his signature smile but it drops seconds later.
you both sit in silence for a moment before you stand up taking your hand out of his hair. “c’mere,” you murmur pulling him off the bed heading towards the bathroom.
“s/o if you wanted to see me naked you could just said so,” he teases. you roll your eyes, “not like that dummy,” you turn on the water plugging the tub so the water would fill it. “take a bath, alright? i’ll be right back.” kokichi looked confused but went along with your request. you shut the bathroom door behind you, leaving his dorm to grab his favorite snacks.
when you returned kokichi was already finished sitting on his bed, you hand him the snacks and sit next to him. “sorry that is not really a breakfast but you haven’t ate yet so…” you trail off.
kokichi says nothing and opens the snacks, “thank you s/o.” he says and you nod. the silence didn’t last for long, after building up the courage you said, “you know i care about you right? you can talk to me about anything at all.” you place your hand on his cheek so he’d look at you.
kokichi sighs, “i know s/o, and there are things i’m not telling you just so i can protect you. “ he admits.
even though there were multiple times kokichi had opened up to you, it still shocks you. he was letting he walks down one by one for you, showing how much he trusts you. “i want to protect you too y’know.”
he says nothing pushing you lightly so you were laying down, he rests he head on top of your chest. you immediately wrap your arms around him feeling him sigh into your touch.
“when we get out of here,” he says, “i want you to meet d.i.c.e”
you were guessing that was the name of his organization, he’s never really talked about it before or told anyone the name of it.
“i can’t wait to meet them, i bet they’re amazing just like you.” you say. you feel him smile against you.
“yeah they’re cool, but no one’s better than i am.” he says. there’s the kokichi you knew and love, you use your other hand to ruffle his hair. “of course not! you’re the best.”
it was silent again, you let your eyes travel across his room. evidence from past cases were everywhere, even a board with everyone’s picture on it and how trustworthy they were. you being the most trustworthy and shuichi having “trustworthy?” (or is it stay cautious, in the japanese ver. i heard it was that) scribbled under his name. everyone else was labeled suspicious or weird.
“s/o…” kokichi breaks the silence first. “please don’t die. i don’t want to be alone here.” he whispers. you look down at him rubbing your hand across his back. “i don’t want anyone to die but if you-“ he pauses.
“i’m not leaving you.” you state. “don’t die on me either, i love you kokichi.” you press a kiss you his forehead.
“i love you too s/o.”

So what if for a motive instead of kokichi being a giant he’s shrunk and stuck with shuichi :0! ( like continuing off of the other motive writing you did -)
hiii I'm glad for this req I was hoping someone would catch my drift and ask for a sequel since I had an idea for it in mind 💃 altho I took a wittle little bit of liberty with your req I hope you don't mind
(again terribly sorry for the delay friend I hardly had any time for this hope you'll enjoy either way)
___
Word count: 1800
Summary: The game master has a new dirty trick up their sleeve to get rid of a certain little liar; but Kokichi isn't going down so easily, even with the threat of now death waiting for him at every corner.
___
It seemed the mastermind wasn’t too pleased when the motive hadn’t gotten him murdering and executed, so their next plan was to get him directly murdered.
Kokichi stands in Monokuma’s shadow, expression blank in face of the bear’s cruel cackles. It's a wonder how the mastermind can see him as a threat when he hasn't been able to stop any of the past murders, but he's still flattered that he's managed to mess with their plans enough that they'd stoop to such a low motive.
When the monochromatic bear leaves, Kokichi is left silently staring at the rest of his classmates from his spot on the cafeteria table, standing at the miserable height of a toy. Any other day, jokes and taunts and lies would be flowing out of his mouth, but his mind doesn’t come up with anything when he’s surrounded by classmates who he knows are already thinking of killing him and hiding his body to avoid a class trial; the same classmates whom he could hold in the palm of his hand only yesterday.
Silent and unmoving as he is, they must think him a scared little child; Kokichi Ouma, supreme leader of evil, reduced to some cute joke, some fanservice for an audience to coo at before he inevitably dies. The thought of the mastermind looking down on him and laughing to themselves at the moment is near sickening.
Kiibo is first to speak up, “So… What should we do about this?”
“I say,” Maki’s reply is instantaneous, like she’d been waiting to say those next words for too long, “We end this killing game right here and now.”
And when she takes a swift step forward, red eyes piercing through his tiny form with a murderous intent he’s seen too many times already, Kokichi can’t do anything but resign himself to the fact that he won’t live to stop the killing game.
Then something darts in front of him and blocks his view, and he thinks he somehow must’ve dreamed the words, “Maki, don’t hurt him.”
It takes his paranoid brain longer than he’d like to admit to realize that the hand in front of him isn’t coming to grab him and squeeze his guts out, rather, it’s shielding him. A gesture he wouldn’t expect coming from anyone in this room, except-
“You can't fall for the mastermind's trick so easily.” Shuichi stands towering in front of him in a protective stance, like some knight in shining armor; and to think this is the same boy who was cowering in his presence only days ago.
"Yeah! Harumaki, you promised, remember?" Kaito, the actual knight in shining armor of the academy, doesn't come to protect him; instead, he steps up to Maki and places a hand on her shoulder. Of course, when killer girl is trying to kill poor lil' Kokichi, it's still her who needs help and support and not the doll-sized villainous boy about to be murdered. "This has gotta be a trap or somethin'."
"Right," Shuichi joins in. He briefly glances over his shoulder at Kokichi, and the now tiny boy meets his gaze with the same blank expression. "Think about it, doesn't this new motive seem more like a way to…" his gaze lingers on Kokichi's small form for a second longer, before he tears it away, "… to get rid of a specific classmate?"
"Yeah," Kaito chimes in, "I'm starting to think the mastermind wants Kokichi dead for whatever reason," The grave expression on his face matches the morbidity of his statement. He slams his fists together in determination, "We can't let that happen."
"I do agree," Kiibo pipes up, "That if Kokichi was the enemy hiding among us, it wouldn't make sense to put himself in such… disadvantageous situation," he's hesitant and careful with his choice of word, like he could somehow be tiny-phobic.
"You're all overthinking this too much," Maki's cold gaze falls back on him, and if looks could kill, a body discovery announcement would have played out, "The killing game stops when the mastermind is dead. Simple as that."
The pressure of her stare threatens to crush him. Kokichi's legs nearly give out under his weight, and his first reaction is to stumble a few steps back and plaster a grin on his face.
“Pish posh, poor Harumaki… wants to kill me so badly, she's ready to do it in front of everyone,” His voice nearly wavers, he takes another step back for good measure. No use in trying to reason with an assassin or try to gain anyone’s sympathy; it’s always easier to stick to the role he’s written himself into.
Kokichi speaking for the first time seems to trigger the whole cafeteria to erupt in a cacophony again. Maki tries to push past Kaito and Shuichi to get her grubby hands on the little leader, and the two boys defend him (at least he thinks they do); someone yawns and someone else gasps and exclamations and accusations are thrown around.
"There has to be more to this motive!"
"You're protecting him over a maybe?"
"This is terrible, we shouldn't fight!"
"Nyeh… we still haven't had breakfast…"
They argue and bicker, like they always do when a new motive is presented and they don’t know what to make of it. Kokichi finds it easy enough to block out the obnoxious voices. He lets cold logic take over his mind and shadow his fear as he assesses the situation.
Even if he refuses, they'll probably force him to be baby-sat by someone. Staying with Maki or Miu is out of the question. Kiibo would be a good choice if Kokichi wanted the eyes of the mastermind and the audience on his back at all time, and Himiko would be a good choice if he wanted all the protection of a bodyguard who doesn't tolerate him and sleeps most of the time.
Gonta does tolerate him and has already worked with him in the past; he wouldn't be a bad choice, but for now Kokichi has a feeling he'll end up sleeping in a bug case with cockroaches if he goes with the giant entomologist, so he'll pass. Kaito superman-wannabe-Momota wouldn't be so bad either, but he'll probably take advantage of the situation and try to get the tiny boy to open up about his super evil dark past or whatever; so again, he'll pass for now.
And then there's Shuichi… Staying with his beloved detective, they could stay up late at night and braid each other's hair and share their secrets, they could make plans together and explore the school and beat the mastermind like some iconic duo, they could even pick that night's game of chess back up since Kokichi still remembered the setting of the board. Staying with Shuichi, truely a dream come true, and a dream right in his reach. But he wasn't in dreamland, he was stuck in a killing game hell where he couldn't let his facade slip and show vulnerability so easily to the protagonist of their game. His eyes fall to the floor with the shame of entertaining such a dream before remembering the sobering reality. Staying with Shuichi is out the question.
Kokichi goes back to listening to the conversarion, but he finds the room silent and eight pairs of eyes on him.
“Kokichi,” Shuichi speaks again. The boy is tempted to look away, but he forces his eyes to meet the giant detective's faded gold ones, “you can stay with me if you want?"
A taunting smirk pushes its way to his face. “Man, Saihara wants to get a hold of me so he can do all kindsa weird stuff to me? Ew ew ew, so gross, I'm so terrified! How could you do this to a frightened little boy?”
“Kokichi,” he considers the exasperation in the detective’s tone a victory to him, although an unpleasant one, “You don’t need to be so obnoxious, if there’s someone you want to stay with, you can say it.” Sheesh, wasn't Shuichi dying to talk to him the other night?
His best option isn’t ideal, but he can't get too picky in his current situation. “Welll, I think I’d like to stay with big sis Shirogane!” he hears the girl in question sputter a noise of surprise, and all eyes turn to her.
“What are you planning?” Maki speaks again after a long silence, voice betraying her skepticism.
“Oh, are you jealous I didn’t pick you, big sis Harumaki?” Do you want to die?
“Do you want to die?” Bingo. Too predictable.
“Uhm,” Tsumugi’s meek voice cuts him off before he can retort, “Why me? I-I mean, I don’t mind, I just don’t understand?”
Kokichi turns to her, and she nearly flinches at his attention. At least there’s one person in the room who’s still intimidated by him. “I just wanted to stay with my absolute favourite girl in this academy," as he says that, he walks around Shuichi's still outstretched hand to better face the absolute favourite girl in question, shooting on his way a quick glance up the detective, "aaand there's also this one cosplay I really wanna try now that I'm cutie-sized. That is, if Shirogane is fine with it?"
Tsumugi looks down to her feet and starts to vibrate with excitement hard enough that he can feel it under his feet. "O-Oh, I am fine with it. I wonder if we're both thinking of the same anime… but the only male character there has a dark skin tone, and there's one girl that really looks like you… You don't mind wearing a dress, do you?" She's already walking up to him with an outstretched hand, as if driven by the by the force of her love of cosplay.
Kokichi blinks his fear away and steps into the unsteady surface, immediately understanding the fear and discomfort in Shuichi's face that last night. Questions and accusations are still coming at him left and right, but he pointedly ignores it all and waves back to his remaining classmates with his cockiest smile as he leaves in the giant girl's hand, mind already buzzing with plans to survive the new motive.

Saved and Executed
“How would V3 react to almost being killed, but their s/o saves them by killing their attempted killer and now their s/o has to face their execution?”
I didn’t know if you wanted the whole cast or just one gender, so I’m going to go with the V3 boys with F! S/o, if you want the girls as well, feel free to request when they’re open again! Spoilers: Main story plot, a lot of this is based on actual murders/attacks!
Shuichi Saihara
Shuichi knew he might be targeted one day, he was the detective after all
Wouldn’t it be much easier to get away with murder without him?
He was still incredibly surprised when he was walking to his usual night training and someone grabbed him from behind
He tried to give out a yell but they quickly covered his mouth
Shuichi struggled, eyes widening when he saw the glint of a knife
He closed his eyes, waiting for the pain, but all he got was a harsh shove to the floor and a scream from behind him
He looked up to see his girlfriend standing, holding a bloody knife
He then saw Miu on the floor, bleeding out
Y/n and himself instantly started panicking, Y/n trying to stop the blood
When it didn’t work, and Miu stopped breathing, she panicked, sobbing and holding on to Shuichi
He held her tight, whispering that it was going to be okay
But it wasn’t, and they both knew that
Shuichi knew what was coming, his sweet Y/n was going to be executed, and he knew she wouldn’t try to cover it up
So when everyone arrived at the scene, Y/n told them through tears what really happened.
The trial came and went impossibly fast, and before Shuichi knew it, he was saying his final goodbye to the love of his life. He held her tight as they both exchanged tears, everyone’s moods dimming due to the hopeless situation
He watched as she was dragged away, yelling for her to come back
But she didn’t
He watched as she was giving her painful execution, feeling completely helpless at the idea that he couldn’t comfort his girlfriend this time, or any time after this, and she could never do the same
He left alone, and felt alone for the rest of this game
Kaito Momota
Let’s be honest, I’m surprise Kaito lasted that long
When Kokichi took Kaito hostage, no one knew what to do
You tried everything to get to him, only finding the small window, which you couldn’t fit in
You had worked out a plan with Maki, to slip him a crossbow to defend himself.
But when you got there, you had seen Kokichi standing over him. Thinking the worst, you aimed the crossbow as best you could and fired. You heard a yell and looked to see Kokichi on the floor, bleeding out
Kaito yelled and ran over to him, seeing that he was already gone. He yelled for you to get out of there, and you did, running to your dorm and throwing the crossbow under your bed, scrawling under the covers
You got up when the sun rose, walking out to see some of your classmates rushing to the scene. You followed, still shocked to see the scene as you left it
Everyone began investigating once the doors were open, and you tried to feign help
When the investigation period ended, everyone headed to the trial grounds, ready to find the blackened. You gulped and took Kaito’s hand, him giving yours a comforting squeeze and the elevator went down
When you got there, everyone laid down what the scene had held, giving possible culprits
It hurt you to see how your actions had pit your friends against each other, how they yelled and cried at each other brought pain to your heart
When Kaito was deemed the most suspicious you knew you couldn’t let your friends, your boyfriend, die for you. You slammed your hands on the podium, silencing everyone around you. You took a deep breath.
“I did it.”
Everyone was either angry or confused. How did you do it? Why did you do it?
Kaito tried to step up and pin it back on himself, but you harshly told him to shut up
“I did it...but it was a mistake, I swear! Please forgive me!”
You lowered your head, soft sobs coming from you. Everyone looked at you with pity, except Kaito, who’s face held more concern and heartbreak than one could ever deem possible
You regulated your breaths and looked up, explaining what happened. After voting, you thanked Kaito and Maki for keeping quiet, but you knew you couldn’t sacrifice the remaining people just for your life. Everyone here meant so much to you, even the one you killed
After your execution, Kaito left with the others, heading to his dorm before Maki could stop him
When he got there, he laid down, punching the nightstand next to him
Why did you do it? Why didn’t you let him take the blame?! He was going to die soon, anyways!
But he knew you. He knew you wouldn’t even let someone clean for you, much less sacrifice their lives for you!
But it didn’t matter to him, he knew his time was going to be up anyways.
But then he could be with you.
Ryoma Hoshi
Ryoma knew someone would kill him, but that’s what he wanted
At least, before he met you
You made everything worth while, even the days where you just casually hung out in one of your dorms, talking. You were everything to him
You had gone to his room to bring his lunch, you knew he was probably just playing tennis against the machine in his room. He had been more active lately, and you were glad for that
When you didn’t see him at first, you were confused. Had you missed him?
There was water running in the bathroom, maybe he was taking a shower? You went over and settled the plate in one hand, knocking with the other. After the second knock you heard a gasp, which was very much not Ryoma’s
You threw the door open, giving a startled yell when you saw Kirumi leaning over the sink, shoving your boyfriend’s head in
You rushed over, dropping the plate and ignoring the shatter as it hit the ground. You grabbed Kirumi by the shoulders and threw her back, missing Ryoma’s yell for you to stop when Kirumi screamed
She got up and ran at you, but you quickly shoved her down again. Panicking, you saw the stick Kirumi probably used to knock out Ryoma and picked it up, swinging it at her head lightly
She yelled, getting up and running back at you. Before her hands could grab you you swung again, this time with much more force. You heard a sickening crack as she fell, this time not getting back up
You looked down to see Kirumi’s body crumpled on the floor, and immediately started crying
Ryoma tried to calm you down as much as he could, considering he is probably shorter, and has handcuffs on
People started rushing in, hearing the scuffle from outside
Ryoma tried to take the blame but you cut him off, telling everyone the truth
Kiibo helped get his handcuffs off and he gave you a proper hug, wiping your tears away
When the trial came, Ryoma still unsuccessfully tried to take the blame, stopping when you quietly asked him to
You voted for yourself during voting time, and took Monokuma’s hand as you were walked to your execution
You looked back one last time, giving Ryoma a teary smile as you let out a half-hearted laugh
“Bye guys! I hope you all make it out!”
Everyone watched the execution with teary eyes, knowing you didn’t deserve this
No one tried to be sympathetic towards Ryoma, nor did they try to walk with him off the trial grounds. They all knew what he wanted, and it was to be with you
Oh, how he longed to be with you
Rantaro Amami
Rantaro knew his situation was dangerous, trying to catch the mastermind and all. But he knew it would be worth it to get out with youHe had planned a trap for the mastermind, and had asked you to help. He knew it was risky and didn’t want you to get involved, but he needed a second person to help retrieve the materials.
You had been asked by your boyfriend to retrieve some glow in the dark dust for the card reader.
“Rantaro, I’m ba-” You look to where he was to see him struggling with someone above him. You dropped the supplies and rushed over, pulling them off and shoving them into a bookshelf.
A sickening squelch was heard as the person who fell to the floor’s head crashed into the shelf, practically killing them instantly
You helped Amami up and made sure he was alright, patting his back as he coughed. You couldn’t help but notice the red hand prints around his neck.
You both looked to the attacker’s body, gasping when you noticed the blonde hair and purple sweater vest.
You immediately started crying, Rantaro sighing as you clung to him
“I know you didn’t mean to kill Kaede, Y/n, but for all we know, she was the mastermind. We should use this opportunity to try and pin it on the mastermind, saying they did it because the time was running out.”
You agreed, nodding your head, still buried in your boyfriend’s chest. You two began to set up a scene, trying to make it seem as if a mastermind who happened to be coming through the hidden door stumbled on Kaede and killed her to avoid a witness.
You two left quickly, going to Rantaro’s room to cuddle and calm down your nerves.
You had the right to be nervous, after all, you did kill someone.
You two went to the scene when the body discovery announcement went off, finding most of your classmates and a very pale and shaken Shuichi
You helped gather clues, trying to emphasize how much it looked like a mastermind.
It was finally trial time, Rantaro starting it off by saying that it was most likely the mastermind, and everyone seemed to agree
But as the trial went on, people started noticing the inconsistencies in the scene, throwing out the idea of the mastermind altogether
Suspects started dwindling, and before you knew it, it was against you and Rantaro
Clues were being thrown around, but you weren’t paying attention. It was between you dying, and everyone you know dying.
You snapped your head up when you heard Rantaro speak up.
“Yea, I did it. I thought the mastermind would come out, but they didn’t. Hey, can’t say I tried right?”
Everyone started agreeing to start voting when you called out
“Wait! I did it!”
Everyone was confused, Kaito even telling you to cut it out so they could vote
Rantaro tried to play it off as you trying to save him but you quickly brushed him off, explaining what trully happened.
Everyone started voting, Rantaro staring at you, face unreadable. Was he mad?
When you were turned up as the true blackened, you gave everyone a sheepish smile, apologizing to everyone, especially Shuichi. You gave Rantaro one final hug before being dragged away to your demise
Rantaro watched, expressionless throughout the whole thing. When it ended, everyone turned to Rantaro, almost everyone paling when he gave a closed eye smile
“Well, guess that didn’t work out the way we expected, huh? I just want the mastermind to know one thing.” He turned around, back facing his audience
“When I find you, you would rather be executed then be at my mercy.”
Gonta Gokuhara
I don’t think anyone expected Gonta to ever be a target, with his height and build
But he was so kind, some people knew how easily they could trap him or manipulate him
But you would never do that, and soon you guys had become closer than you every expected.
You spent many days having picnics in the grass, sleeping or trying to find bugs. Everything seemed perfect
But when you went to Gonta’s room one night to return a book he left in your lab, you could hear talking through the door. Leaning against it, you picked out Gonta’s panicked voice and Kokichi’s sinister tone.
“C’mon Gonta, I swear, Y/n is the mastermind! You’re closest to her, are you really too big of an idiot to realize that?”
Gonta’s stammers became louder, and you swore you heard his voice crack as he tried to refute Kokichi’s words.
You threw the door open, marching right up to Kokichi, who hid behind Gonta
“She’s the mastermind Gonta! Save meee!”
Gonta’s confusion was doubled, him trying to figure out what to say to you. You gave him a small smile before shoving past him, going after Kokichi. You grabbed him by the scarf and pulled him up. “Don’t ever mess with Gonta again, you hear me?! I swear if you ever hurt him I’ll kill you!”
Kokichi let out a small giggle, pulling something from behind his back. “You mean like this?” He pointed the crossbow at Gonta, who let out a yell
Panicking, you smacked the crossbow up from his hand, catching it and pointing it at him. “Where did you even get this?!”
Kokichi smirked, looking you in the eye. “You act like a supreme leader doesn’t have weapons!” I reached into his back pocket and pulled something out. As soon as you saw the glint of a knife you shot the bow, hitting him in the chest
You watched as he stumbled backwards, falling to the floor without a word. You turned to Gonta, who immediately fell to his knees and started crying
“Kokichi said you mastermind...a-and that you want to kill me!”
You pulled Gonta into a hug, promising that you didn’t want to hurt him and that everything Kokichi ever told him was a lie
By the time you had calmed him down, someone had walked by and seen the scene, fleeing for help. When said help arrived, they found you two, crying on the floor with Kokichi’s lifeless body in a pool of blood.
The trial immediately started, you not thinking for even a second about pinning the blame on Gonta. When he realized you were to be executed, he started yelling
“But Y/n kill in self defense! To help me! She didn’t mean it!”
Monokuma quickly cut off his words, explaining that a kill is a kill, and that the blackened, if caught, must be punished
You said goodbye to Gonta, making him promise to keep himself safe and alive. With that, Monokuma dragged you off to your fate
Gonta refused to watch, trying to block out every horrible thing that was being thrown at you, covering his ears when he heard your final, sharp scream as the final blow was given.
He was led home by Himiko, Tenko, and Angie, all of them promising that you were in a better place
He sat on the foot of his bed, sobbing the whole night
What was the point of this if not for you?
Kokichi Oma
Kokichi didn’t expect, nor did he even want to make friends here
But when he met you
Oh, you were just so prankable
But when you started retaliating with your own pranks, he deemed you a worthy foe. You two began to hang out more, your relationship seeming more like a friendship to others
You were looking for him carrying all of Miu’s work tools, you had been planning a huge prank and you needed him to look at the final touches. Oh, Miu was gonna be so mad!
But when you went to his room, you saw him pinned to a wall by a hand, quickly connecting it to the Kaito who was quietly but intensely talking to him
You yelled, running into the room and dropping all of the tools. You grabbed Kaito’s shoulder to shove him off, but he smacked you back, your body tumbling to the floor
Kokichi thrashed now, Kaito’s grip visibly getting tighter. You looked around, seeing the tools scattered. In a haze of panic, you picked up one, a hammer.
You sprung up and rushed at your boyfriend’s attacker, smacking him in the head forcefully, his body crumpling on the first shot
You helped Kokichi up, letting him lean on you as he seemed to cough a lung up.
You looked over to where Kaito’s body now was, blood pouring from the wound to the side of his head. You felt the sudden urge to throw up, but suppressed it with a shudder
You just killed someone. This was never supposed to happen.
Kokichi pulled himself up to look at you, for the first time you got a glimpse of his serious side. “Y/n, it’s going to be okay, alright? I promi-hey, look at me. I promise, I’m gonna get you out of this.”
With that, he sent you to your own dorm, telling you to get rest, and to come when the announcement goes off.
You tried to do just that, only succeeding in getting on and off naps here and there. You were woken up from a muggy dream by an alarm, then Monokuma’s shrill voice announcing a newly found body and it’s location
You quickly sprung up and rushed to Kokichi’s dorm, seeing the crowd already in there causing a scene
Everyone surrounded Kokichi, either yelling or trying to tackle him. You could see Maki with teary eyes, giving him a glare that could kill anyone.
“Yea, I killed him, pretty simple, huh?”
Some people gave refutes to his claims, but mostly everyone kept silent
They told Tenko to watch him as they started investigating, you joining.
When it was trial time, they escorted him down. Who knew what he could do? Everyone boarded the elevator silently
You snapped out of your anxious mood when Kokichi silently hooked his pinky with yours, as if trying to tell you that he’s here for you. That made you feel a lot better
When the trial began, Kokichi started his claim again, Shuichi saying they needed to figure out everything before it happened. After all, Miu’s tools were the ones at the scene.
Kokichi’s claim was quickly thrown out when they realized that there was no way he could kill Kaito when he was being held to the wall. He cracked a joke and settled back, trying not to let anyone else see the worry on his face
When people started questioning your alibi Kokichi intervened, asking how someone as weak as you could’ve defeated Kaito so easily
But the facts, sadly, added up against you
Kokichi watched as they all voted for you, none of his tactics working
Before your execution, Kokichi let himself childishly cry, hugging your crying form as well.
He watched the whole execution, taking note on everything that they did to you
After all, he was going to find this mastermind, end this killing game, and put them through this.
Korekiyo Shinguji
You didn’t mean to grow close to Korekiyo, it just happened
You two had a small conversation, which went to something much more
You had been helping your boyfriend research old religions, Zoroastrianism to be specific. He had been missing a book and asked you to check the library for it
You went down and found it, not surprised that it was within the thousands of books this basement contained
As you made your way to your boyfriends lab, you noticed someone walking in the same direction. Tenko!
You were about to call out to your friend when you noticed what they were carrying, a wooden bat. You walked behind them quietly, watching as they turned into Korekiyo’s lab
You immediately heard things moving and crashing, rushing in to see him trying to dodge Tenko’s swings. He was holding his shoulder, presumably from the first blow when he didn’t realize the situation he was in.
You looked around, noticing the sword sitting in it’s case. You dropped the book and grabbed it, unsheathing it
Next thing you knew, you were thrusting it at Tenko, watching as her eyes went wide with pain as it went through her stomach, and out through her back. She dropped her weapon, trying to speak, before she herself fell completely, sprawled out on the floor
You took a step back, trying to not have the increasing pool of blood touch you.
Korekiyo stepped over her, visibly shaking. He pulled you into a hug. You leaned into his embrace, resting on his chest and closing your eyes. You felt him pull down his mask and kiss your forehead, before resting his chin on your head.
“It’s okay, darling. We’re going to figure something out.”
You two tried to make the crime scene as confusing as possible, removing and adding things till it seemed to even confuse you
You two left, making sure to break the lock on the front door
In the morning, you met at breakfast, carrying on the usual routine until Himiko asked where Tenko was
You all gave no answer, worrying her increasingly
At that moment you heard a scream come from upstairs
You guys rushed up to see Gonta standing in the doorway of your boyfriend’s lab, staring in
Himiko rushed over to see the scene, immediately covering her mouth and running away
Everyone was already here, so the investigation might as well start.
Everyone had different ideas on what happened, some people stating their frustration multiple times
When it was trial time, you all had to wait for Himiko to drag herself to the elevator, the look of absolute despair on her face making your gut hurt
As the trial started, everyone gave different evidence, not all of it lining up
That’s why it came as a surprise to you when Angie announced that she had found the evidence you guys tried to dispose of in a nearby hall closet
Slowly, your friends started piecing it together, and you would be lying if you said you weren’t relieved. Did you really want them to die for you? Korekiyo too?
When it came out that your alibi and innocence were false, you started crying, replaying the story to everyone, and apologizing every chance you got. You looked towards your boyfriend, watching his expressionless face trained on you. He was probably still trying to process that you had mere moments to live
After voting, you went to Himiko and apologized, who turned away from you, saying she would never forgive a murderer.
You gave your boyfriend one last hug, him telling you that, while humanity is a beautiful place, you now get to go someplace more much interesting, where he will meet you in due time.
He watched your execution, noticing all the references to your ultimate talent. He watched as you were hurt, emotionally and physically, until you collapsed, and didn’t get up
He went home alone, no one saying a word to him, just like it used to be. He went to his bed and sat down, slowly taking off his excessive attire,
‘She’s in a better place now,’ he thought, taking off his mask
“Soon we’ll all be together, my two favorite girls in the universe.”
Kiibo
Kiibo never expected to get attacked
He was just a robot, but he had lots of armor and defense abilities
So when Miu was working on him, like every few days, he didn’t mind
But when the signal flashed on his screen that there was someone tampering with his main wires, he grew concerned
He brought it up to Miu, but she didn’t respond, and he felt himself slip into darkness
When he rebooted, he saw Miu on the floor, bleeding from a gash on her head, and his girlfriend, Y/n, standing over him crying
“Y/n, what happened?”
You explained how you came to meet up with him at usual time, but saw Miu pulling cords from him. You ended up fighting with her, until you accidentally shoved her into a tool cart, killing her.
“I tried to patch you up as best I could, but I’m no inventor”
You helped him up, and he could feel himself twitching, just a bit
“Thank you, Y/n, but this means you are the blackened!”
“I know, but I couldn’t let you die! I promised that I’d try to save everyone, even if at the cost of my own life.”
You helped him get up, leading him back to his dorm.
You set him down on his bed before walking to the door. “I’ll be back in a bit, okay?”
He sat, and sat, and wondered what was taking you so long. That’s when the body discovery announcement rang
He got up and went as quickly as possible to Miu’s lab, seeing everyone there, including yourself.
“What’s going on?” He shuffled in, but no one responded, looking at Y/n.
“I, I told them what happened. I’m not going to let them die for me.”
He looked at you in disbelief, had you really given yourself up?
He knew it was true when Monokuma announced the skipping of the investigation period, and had them go straight to the trial grounds for voting.
Everyone voted, Y/n, herself included.
Kiibo and Y/n were allowed one last goodbye, cut short by the metal collar dragging his love off, despite his begging
He was forced to watch as you were toyed with, beat up and finally, murdered.
He went back to his dorm after Monokma somehow fixed him
He laid on the floor in his dark room, projecting memories of you on the ceiling.
Oh, how he’d miss the person who taught him how to feel.

Can you please do Yandere Kaede x Rantaro scenario? Except it’s played for comedy. Kaede doesn’t kill anyone, but just scares the competition away from Rantaro. Bonus if she actually manages to scare Kokichi, Korekiyo, Angie or even Monokuma.
I love this. I’ve written for Yandere!Rantaro multiple times but never for Kaede, and you all know I love my Amamatsu. Enjoy!
Yandere!Kaede Akamatsu x Rantaro Amami (Comedic Scenario)!
Eversince this Killing Game predicament started, Kaede hasn’t been able to restrainher feelings as easily or seamlessly as she used to.
It didn’t help that there was a certain green-haired man in particular thatseemed to catch her eye. She had fallen for Rantaro so quickly and didn’t want anyone else to take her man away. Kaede was especially fearful in this situation because she would be damned if he fell Victim to one of the other worthless participants trapped here.
She doesn’t want to kill anyone, that was never her style – especially in the Killing Game; she’s not just going to let the Mastermind use her as a toy. If she were to become reckless and kill someone to get rid of hercompetition, Kaede risked getting caught and executed. And if that happened, she could no longer be there to protect her beloved Rantaro! And she could never win hisheart over if she was dead.
So, she’d have to settle for scaring the others away from her lover.
He was so charming and romantic that he seemed to have several other Ultimatesswooning over him as well, and Kaede just couldn’t have that. She wondered howshe was supposed to compare or stand out in a place like this. She could feel herself growing colder, her Yandere-tendencies getting the best of her.
Even in a life-or-death scenario, Kaede was too afraid to approach Rantaro. Shekept her distance, admiring him from afar and slowly building up a shrine inher room dedicated to him.
Every time one of the others got close or spoke to him, a rage built up insideof her that proved difficult to contain. That’s when she devised her plan toscare everyone away from the man she loved, so that she never had to intervenewith him directly.
She was sick and tired of watching that little pest Ouma trying to flirt withhim, and she knew that he had some little thing for Rantaro; he was constantlycalled him his ‘Beloved Amami-Chan’ among other nicknames.
Kaede knew that directly influencing Ouma would only lead to trouble because hehas a big mouth and would without a doubt snitch to Rantaro, ruiningeverything.
She simply… broke into his room when she knew he wasn’t home and no one elsewas around, vandalizing it a bit. She left some threatening sticky notes behind that said to ‘Leave Rantaro alone, you tiny little fucker.’
However, all Ouma did was laugh and show them to the other man, giggling about how he had a secret admirer. Rantaro looked a bit uncomfortable but shrugged it off as a prank. Stomping his foot, Ouma raised his voice and shouts, “It’s not~! I wouldn’t lie to you, Amami-Chan!”
His eyes danced over to the corner where Kaede was hiding and he made eye contact with her wide, soulless eyes and devilish grin. The sight was unsettling, even for Ouma. He simply backed off with Rantaro calling for him, asking him where he was going.
“You can deal with that crazy bitch, I’m not trying to die!” Ouma responds hastily, leaving the other man in a dazed confusion.
Her next rival came in the form of an all-too preppy Artist who was trying to lure Rantaro into joining her Cult, or something. He seemed a bit intrigued since he’s always trying to learn about different cultures and beliefs, but Kaede couldn’t have that, now could she?
She seemed to come at the right time because Angie was clinging on his arm and chanting about a blood sacrifice to Atua. She couldn’t let that creepy bitch take her man’s blood, only she could do that!
Without a second thought, Kaede retrieved one of the switch-blades she kept in her backpack and tossed it at the Artist, grazing past her face and giving her a nice haircut.
Angie stopped and snaked her arms away from Rantaro hesitantly, glancing around in a panic. Truthfully, Kaede didn’t even think when she threw it, as if her reflexes had a mind of their own. Thankfully, they didn’t see her except for…
Korekiyo who had been standing in the shadows just a few feet away. Kaede didn’t notice him until it was too late and he let out a small chuckle, but all she had to do was square up and shoot him an intimidating glare, and the taller man got the message. With a fearful expression, he wipes the grin off of his face and disappears, promising to never tell anyone what he saw.
Kaede returned to her room where she had the faces of their peers lined up in a row, drawing an ‘X’ over Angie’s face since she seemed to get the memo after nearly getting a blade to the cheek. There wasn’t anyone else whom she was very fearful of, feeling content that her competition was slowly whittled away.
Suddenly, Monokuma appeared on her bed which was behind her and signaled his arrival with his signature laugh. Kaede whipped around and grits her teeth, growing at the pesky bear. “Wow, Kaede, you sure are crazy about Rantaro! Emphasis on crazy.”
The blonde smirked and, with an evil stare, reminded him that she could tear his stuffing out with one swift move. A sweat droplet formed on Monokuma’s face and he defensively raised his paws, “T-that won’t be necessary, Kaede!”
Before she could ask what he was doing here, he disappeared almost as suddenly as he came.
Her frantic acts of desperation became more intense with time. During Himiko’s Magic Act, she asked for volunteers and Rantaro nearly raised his hand. However, Kaede elbowed Tenko in the side and forced her to raise her hand before she could pick her man from the audience. Another time, she crashed Kaito’s Workout Session when Rantato decided to tag along by stealing some insects from Gonta’s Lab and releasing them on the Astronaut; making sure that they wouldn’t taint Rantaro’s perfect complexion, though.
Once, Rantaro offered to paint Tsumugi’s nails. They were the only three people in the Kitchen at the time and, before Tsumugi could accept the offer, she purposefully set the oven on fire to cause them to rush out of the room in a frenzy. She didn’t care if she burned the building down as long as her man wasn’t holding another woman’s hands.
Slowly but surely, her competition disappeared and Kaede was the only person left who was compatible with Rantaro! That’s how these things work, right…?
Plus, no one would attempt to kill him at this point since they knew what would happen if they tried. One too many ‘coincidences’ surrounded Rantaro and no one was brave enough to try. Not only did she eliminate the competition but she also ensured his safety.
It’s a win-win in Kaede’s eyes! Now he has to love her… right?

Trial 6 - Retrial (1)
...... Alright, let’s do this.
Speculation post with theories are here.
It’s so... blue....?
i’m not saying this shade of blue makes me think of anyone in particular but I’M TOTALLY SAYING IT MAKES ME THING OF SOMEONE IN PARTICULAR -
Is that a ‘the results will speak for themselves’ thing or literally ‘someone else will choose’ thing??? We’ve had to deal with ‘an outside force is actually a part of this’ thing, but last time that was a force for good and they were pretty much rendered helpless. What are the chances that’s the same this time...
Probably because he and the mastermind being threatened with exposure are two different entities??? It sounds like he doesn’t have anything on the line this time!
MONOKUMA DO YOU REALLY HATE US THAT MUCH
LMAO
Damn you Monokuma you really can make me laugh sometimes when I’m not ready for it.
“’They’ being ‘me’, in case I didn’t make that clear.”
And then, after setting up for the trial and a long pan around the remaining participants, we land on....
.... one Very Tired Detective.
There’s one pretty glaring reason to have a class trial even if there hasn’t been a murder; someone incredibly significant still left to identify....
.... I-I guess this is the way we’re doing it though! Okay! We’re going to straight-up retry it!
I guess this is as good of a way to do it as any! This all pretty much revolves around the events of that night in the end!
“Incredibly ironic, considering the circumstances.”
lmao I swear I mentioned the Ultimate Mastermind as a joke possibility at one point whoops
I do like how we have Himiko to confirm it for us. Actually, that works out perfectly - we have a classmate almost every step of the way to confirm most of the evidence, except... I guess in the case of the flashback light room, right? Which is, y’know, good, considering we’re probably going to be accusing one of them within the hour... 8′D
And he wanted a second. Most people don’t want to go back in for seconds. Here’s a question though - did he remember the last killing game in the prologue? Is that why he recognized Monokuma? But.... why wasn’t he freaking out at that point? Or maybe that’s just because of his apparent ability to keep calm under pressure...
HE GOT FUCKING PLAYED
This speaks to the hidden trap that’s always existed in Shuichi’s own mind - that he often assumes that anything he can do, such as notice the hidden door, other people can do just as easily. Because ‘if someone like me can do it, who only became the Ultimate Detective by accident, then surely it would be presumptuous to think that no one else could make the same observations as me’. N-Not that I understand those feelings on a personal level or anything.............
Out of pure curiosity, I wonder if he was given the Monopad specifically by Monokuma or if he just woke up with the second one? Or maybe it was left for him in his room? He had to have reviewed it at some point in isolation, because he was clearly shaken up by it. For that matter, when did he see it? Just after we first originally met up in the gym, post-talent acquisition? Or later than that? I wonder if it’s possible to pinpoint before and after him going through the Survivor’s Perk based on his reactions? I do remember he was checking out the library during one of Kaede’s FTEs when we approached him, but I can’t quite remember when that was...
Wait, are you telling me the video itself was on his Survivor’s Perk? I thought it was just in that safe - then why was there a copy of it on a USB in his lab??? Was it to paint him as suspicious if we got that far? A bonus prize for someone if they were able to figure out the clues?? Hell, was it a ‘motive’ to paint a target on Rantaro’s back the same way the flashback light targeted Kokichi in Chapter 5, in case he made it that far? WHY WAS THE DECK SO STACKED AGAINST THIS POOR BASTARD
“He just had an incredibly scary face while coming to that conclusion, so naturally it was very suspicious at the time.”
.... Man, what’s with all these people with our best interests at heart having such terrifying sprites? Rantaro, Kokichi, Gonta, Ryoma, and I’d argue Angie in her own strange way - all of these guys had some of the creepiest reactions in the game. the lesson is it’s the plain cute ones you gotta watch all the pun intended -
don’t be rude Himiko
“If only I’d had the protagonist power at the time - I could have wooed him. I could have wooed him!”
This is pretty damn sad, though. I wonder if there was anyone he was considering reaching out to? There’s at least one person that comes to mind immediately and I 100% guarantee it’s not who you think it would be:
.....
Ready? No, it’s not Kokichi.
It’s Ryoma Hoshi.
No, seriously! Ryoma literally made it clear that he was willing to give up his own life to end the game. He showed the resolve to help someone get out of there in order to rescue the rest of them. Rantaro literally had to argue him down from doing that. I know at that point it was the day of the deadline, but... man. What if Rantaro had come clean with Ryoma about what he knew? Could something have changed?
Behold: Rantaro Amami, the Ultimate Cryptic.
How heavy was this burden on his shoulders...
I know it’s not relevant to the flashback but SHOW HIS SCARY SPRITE YOU COWARDS
RANTARO WE WILL MAKE UP FOR THIS IN THE BONUS SALMON MODE, I SWEAR IT TO YOU RIGHT NOW -
Behold: Rantaro Amami, the Ultimate Sacrifice -
if there aren’t what-if AUs out there about potential scenarios where Rantaro opens up to someone I will riot.
I-I mean, we weren’t going to explicitly say that but -
“.... Patience, Shuichi. Their time will come. And they won’t know what hit them.”
I see you, sneakily trying to sneak that truth and lie theme back into the trial, and I wholeheartedly approve ~
Are you just saying that...? You were there, right? You saw that we found the Survivor’s Perk. You know we found the lab, so why are you not trying to redirect us? Will you try to do that in the debates or -
oH -
SHE DOESN’T KNOW WE FOUND THE HIDDEN PASSAGE FROM THE BATHROOMS
SHE DOESN’T REALIZE WE CAN PIN HER DOWN WITH THIS
LET’S DO IT!!!!!
Well THIS explains why the Monokubs are participating in the trial. 8′D
E N O U G H
We can match it... aaah, we can match it to the picture that shows him holding it! And it wasn’t there with the body, but in the mastermind’s room!!! Man I’m so pumped up!
I love how Shuichi’s shutting down the Monokids lmao - I’ve never seen him act so aggressively in a Rebuttal Showdown before. 8′D
Man that’s a lot of blood to have landed that way, but who am I to argue about blunt trauma blood physics. THE POINT IS WE HAVE PROOF, BABY! CONFIRMED SECOND PERSON IN THE ROOM!
oh right also this happened:
So we’re just gonna lose them one-by-one during the trial, huh? I’m okay with that.
can you let it slip again
pretty sure you’re thinking of Scar and Simba was Mufasa’s cub -
THAT TOO
DO MONOKUMA AND TSUM - THE MASTERMIND HAVE BEEF OR SOMETHING DEAR LORD
“And it’s totally not someone in this room.” awkwardly attempts to not make eye contact with a certain plain girl -
In those brief few precious seconds...
Cutting all the fluff out, but all you need to know is that all the Monokubs are absolutely useless and don’t know anything except for Monodam because of course.
T... The interval timers. We’ve talked about this already. It was a big thing in the last trial - literally why Shuichi was suspected for a while, and how it got narrowed down to her and Kaede.
It’s always her. It’s always her.
TSUMUGI IS LITERALLY ‘CASUALLY’ TEAMING WITH MONODAM TO DISPROVE SHUICHI I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW BALLSY SHE’S GETTING
Didn’t the mastermind have the advantage of Rantaro triggering the camera both times and setting the ‘30 second’ clock between intervals? Just sayin’ ~
I’m so glad and not surprised that K1-b0 is the one remembering Miu’s contribution. look I have room for kiiruma in my heart too okay
with that said I love the ‘so done’ look he has while he’s next to her in this picture
30 seconds sounds like a short amount of time, and it is. but it can also be surprisingly long. She would have to be quick and deliberate... but she could do it. Dart out, grab it and go. And she’d probably be watching the live feed so she would know exactly when to do it! Between the flash and the ball dropping on him, she has two cues to work with!
I see you too debate online.
this is the ‘take a minute to appreciate the text and graphic design’ minute, don’t mind me - I just really l ike how they have such different styles denoting who’s speaking. Man I can’t get over how well designed it is.
....
Wait, we really have to bring up the idea that they have surveillance cameras? When one of the biggest sticking points of the last trial was that Monokuma didn’t know who the victim was because Kokichi interfered? YOU THOUGHT WE WOULD GET THROWN OFF BY THAT POINT -
This is K1-b0′s big win, so I’m glad he’s the one sassing them and presenting the sixth cub ~
this better be the last damn time we ever agree on anything EVER
I mean, I guess we had to clarify that for the sake of being able to move on but... eh.
OH
Though! Though it does help us confirm that the mastermind had to have been in the room and not one of the people who were known to be downstairs, so that is good! I mean, we honestly pretty much knew that already, but it definitely doesn’t hurt. Gotta tighten that trap after all!
I DUNNO TSUMUGI, WHY WOULD THEY?
“The mastermind is a punk bitch -”
“O-Okay, we plain get it, that’s enough -”
“No. No, I think I need to elaborate on what a scaredy-cat coward the mastermind is -”
LMAO HE’S REALLY INTERRUPTING SWEETCHEEKS ON THIS
..... What a weird point to be hung up on. And the way you’re talking, like you are the mastermind rather than an independent AI, is definitely different than before.
i-i mean look what just happened with kokichi and maki but okay, yeah, we’d totally work together and not have a random student try to make a stand on their own or, hell, have a flashback light designed to instigate chaos and confusion -
Yes............. but. Uh, I’m going to bring this to the point below actually - *
HA
okay blow up a Monokub now
....
damn it
Oh damn, I didn’t think that rule would ever actually come up in a trial. Cool.
LA LA LA LA I CAN’T HEAR YOU -
YOU LITERALLY SET HIM UP YOURSELF!!!
.... Or, the mastermind did. One of you did. I don’t know - I know in my head that I should probably be treating them as one and the same - but they just feel like different entities to me. And if I’m going to humour that idea, that means there is the very real question of ‘who decided to set him up with that message’, ‘who decided they had to steal the Survivor’s Perk back’ and for that matter, ‘were these decisions made independently of each other or was the idea to take back the Perk back conceived the moment the Perk itself was created?’
* To pick up where I left off earlier -
It sounds like discrediting the idea of the mastermind would all be much more important to said mastermind moreso than Monokuma... right? Because Monokuma seems convinced that everything will be fine (the game will continue) even if they find the mastermind, right...??? So I don’t know if the reason was to keep the killing game going, because she clearly showed she is able to create a motive even when the students are banded together against a single person, and she can even misdirect them - I think it’s more to protect herself, because she never wanted that to happen in the first place. Iunno. It just feels a bit different to me than how Shuichi put it.
Oh....?
B-BUT, LIKE, WE CAN STILL FIGURE OUT WHO IT IS FROM THAT... >:( let me accuse my cosplay girlfriend you monojerk
So, erm. Right.
At this point, if you weren’t seeing my little spur-of-the-moment text reactions, you wouldn’t know that I did a double-take when I saw this happen live. Because, well... I’d figured out the whodunnit, the whydunnit, the when, the how - but apparently I’d managed to miss the fact that there was a ‘what’ to resolve. So I figured out the culprit.... but didn’t realize that we weren’t just investigating a theft, but the actual murder again.
With that in mind -

IT’S A W H A T ? ! ? ! ? !
TSUMU - I-I MEAN -
MISS MASTERMIND, WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE?!?!

For @isuckatthisdonti “I hope you enjoy this, despite its lateness! I went by the prompt you gave me”
Ouma pressed his pale knuckle against his thigh, stopping his leg from bouncing for the fifth time that evening. Eyes sharp, he kept a paranoid gaze at the exisal hangar door. Sweat threatened to fall from his brow as he took in a deep breath, attempting to calm his nerves.
He wasn’t nervous, he couldn’t be.
Ouma’s face twitched slighlty as minutes passed by, taunting him. He had taken to pacing circles around the hangar. His bare feet slapped lightly against the ground as he slowly grew more impatient.
Where was he?
Ouma turned his gaze to the entrance once more, clicking his tongue. He really should have planned more thoroughly.
Letting out a deep sigh through his nose, the supreme ruler felt a strange sense of calm fill his mind. Maybe…this was supposed to be how things turned out, he thought. It was an abrupt change of mood, but Ouma suddenly felt content. He almost laughed.
“Yeah, it was a crappy plan anyways. Right? No way would it have worked.”
He didn’t realize he had spoken until the echoes of his voice greeted him moments later. Groaning quietly, he covered his face with his hands, kneeling down on the ground. “Ah..aha…I’m going insane.” He muttered bitterly, ready to break out into cruel laughter any second. Reaching for his back pocket, he pulled out a pair of pliers. “You guys are USELESS!”
He practically shouted, hurling them across hangar. They fell with a loud clatter, making even him wince. He quickly lapsed into a dead silence, letting himself drown slowly. Twirling a lock of lavender hair, Ouma kept a blank face as he stared up at the ceiling. He should be the one to die, not some dumbass-
“Ouma?”
The boy in question shot up from his place on the ground, stomach dropping.
…Dammit.
A certain figure stood in the hangar’s doorway. Their pale face had concern written all over it.
“Oh,” Ouma swore violently in his mind, ready to book it. “Heeey Kii-boy!” He slapped on a plastic grin, face tight. “How’s my favorite robot in the whole wide world?” His eyes flickered over to where the pliers were, just a few feet a way from the robot.
I might…still have a-
“We both know I am not your favorite, much less liked by you.” Kiibo’s cold voice shot through his train of thought. Ouma blinked owlishly at this. He quickly composed himself, laughing dumbly at the robot. “Nishishi, ya got me!” The supreme leader lolled his head backward, a smirk on his face. “Just thought I could make you fall in love with me before I died!” Ouma turned his back to the other, monologuing to stall time.
(Well, not necessarily STALLING, he preferred to call it waiting for the perfect moment.)
“Oh, Ouma! Please don’t sacrifice yourself for lil ol meee!!” He raised his voice by an octave, mocking the robot. Clasping his hands together, he turned to Kiibo and bat his eyelashes. “You’re all I have in this killing game! I’m just a little bunny!!! I can’t survive without you!! Protect me!!!!!” Ouma continued his charade until he saw Kiibo’s eyes begin to twitch in annoyance. Interestingly though, his face had also turned a light pink. “I do not sound like that!” He snapped at the supreme ruler, arms crossed. Ouma tiltes his head, strolling towards him. “Oooh, did I embarrass you?” He reached for Kiibo’s cheeks, pleasantly surprised by their soft texture. Ouma squished his cheeks, which had begun to grow even hotter under his touch. “Awww what a cutie patootie! Who’s a good boy? You are!” Stunned by the sudden invasion of space, Kiibo stood there, posture stiff. Blushing furiously, the robot shoved the leader away from him. “St-stop that!” Ouma simply laughed again, Putting up his hands in a sort of mocking defense. “Sorry~” He sang, voice ringing throughout the hangar.
Now’s my chance.
Ouma did his best to act casual as he strolled past the still red faced robot, reaching for the pair of pliers he had thrown earlier. Face growing somewhat grim, he clutched them tightly in his hands.
Back still turned to Kiibo, he took in a deep breath. “…Kiibo?” The robot in question tilted his head. “What is it?” Ouma faced him, not bothering to mask his serious face. “You’re probably wondering why I called you here.” Not waiting for a response, the supreme leader continued, nerves catching up to him. “Well…I wanted to tell you about my plan.” He looked back down at the pliers in his hand. Before he could say anything more, he was interrupted.
“Plan? What are you talking about, Kokichi?” Kiibo asked, eyebrows knit together. To his surprise, Ouma glared at him, face filled with frustration. “I was getting to that.” The robot blinked, confused. “Oh.” He responded dumbly. Ouma held the pliers up to his face. “My plan…to ruin this killing game.” As if turned on by a switch, the room has suddenly developed a chilling atmosphere. Kiibo looked at the pliers, a strange feeling crawl up his body. “Ruin…this killing game? But…why?” Ouma glanced at him. “Why do ask? Are you the mastermind?” He shot back, suddenly aggressive. “Wh-what? Of course not!” Kiibo sputtered, baffled by the entire situation. “What I mean is, why would YOU of all people try to stop the killing game? I thought you said you loved it…” The robot trailed off, unsure of his own words. Ouma simply rolled his eyes, growing exasperated. “God, I guess a robot like you wouldn’t even be able to see through such an obvious lie. Of course I want to end this crappy killing game.” He paused. “These types of games are the worst.” At that, Kiibo tilted his head. “These types of games?” He echoed. Ouma nodded. “Yeah, cuz…” He turned his gaze to the hangar floor, hair shielding his eyes.
“…How could a game that you’re forced to play in ever be fun?”
Kiibo stared at him, expression impossible to perceive. “Ouma…” He shook his head, as if to his thoughts. “Please tell me why you called me here.” The supreme leader sighed, a lazy smile plastered onto his face. “Man, can’t let anything slide by you, can I?” He took a deep breath.
“I want you to let me kill you.”
Silence was all that came after he said that.
Kiibo blinked owlishly, lost. “You want…to kill…me?” His tone was more robotic than ever. Ouma simply nodded, searching for some kind of reaction.
“If…I were to kill you in a way even Monokuma couldn’t figure out, then…we might have a chance at ruining this killing game.” Great, now his own hesitation was showing. The ultimate robot continued to stand still, seemingly contemplating his choices, which were very limited in this case.
A minute went by, and still nothing happened.
Ouma slowly felt his resolve weaken with each second.
“Actually…nevermi-“
“I’ll do it.”
Ouma’s eyes shot up to stare at Kiibo’s, which were filled with confliction. “I’ll…let you kill me.” The supreme leader felt his heart beat speed up. That was…surprisingly quick.
“Seriously?”
Kiibo nodded once more, face grim. “If we can ruin this killing game, like you said, and free everyone else…then I’m willing to risk my own life.”
Wow.
“I didn’t expect it to be this easy, to be honest.” Ouma stated bluntly. Kiibo rolled his eyes, arms crossed.
“So, how do we pull this off?”
Okay, wow, he’s really doing this.
Ouma dropped his gaze to the pliers in his hand, suddenly growing awkward. “Well, uhh I just figured I’d dismantle you or something and go from there..?” It came out as a question. Kiibo put a hand to his chest, offended. “That’s such a plain way of murder. You obviously haven’t planned well at all.” Ouma grit his teeth. “Well I didn’t expect to get this far, you stupid bot. Just let me kill you, and I’ll do the rest of the work.” He snapped at him.
The awkward, almost comedical atmosphere was once again washed over by the same chill, maybe even colder. Ouma’s words slapped them both back into reality. They exchanged a tense glance. After a moment of silence, Kiibo spoke up. “Do you want me to go into shutdown mode?” Ouma nodded without missing a beat. “It’s better that way.”
The supreme leader watched as Kiibo immediately put a hand to the nape of his neck, clicking a switch of some sorts. The robot’s glistening blue eyes dimmed down, his eyelids falling. His figure fell slowly onto the ground, right before ultimate laying down completely on his back. Ouma took a hesitant step toward his frame, standing over him. He looked…peaceful. His normally stern looking face had smoothed out, leaving a blank face of serenity. It was ironic, given the situation they were in.
Taking in a small shuddering breath, Ouma quickly got to work. He knelt down next to Kiibo’s body, hands running over his torse to look for some kind of opening. He tugged lightly on an armor plate, frustrated. “Should’ve came with a damn instruction manual.” Growing more agitated by the second, Ouma ultimately decided to rip off the plate completely, sparks flying. “Yikes.” He muttered under his breath. Well, at least he got what he wanted. There, under that plate, sat an array of colorful wires, just waiting to be pulled and cut. Gripping his pliers, he couldn’t help but smile. “Way better than Miu.” He told himself jokingly. Picking a random red wire, he yanked harshly on it, splitting it into two. Sparks flew once more, making Ouma wince. “Fucking robots…”
He did this for the next two hours, thinking of what to do afterwards all the while.
Wiping sweat off of his forehead with the back of his hand, Ouma sighed heavily. “Ugh, FINALLY done!” He said, studying his masterpiece. There, strapped inside an exisal, was Kiibo’s “corpse”. Well, only Ouma would be able to recognize it. He had removed the robot’s face plate altogether, revealing an ugly picture of inner workings and cogs. His eyes were most eerie though, just two glass balls with a beautiful shade of blue for two large pupils. Ouma shuddered. His body had been reduced to almost nothing, only pure torn wires and an arm and a leg. His other limbs had been scattered across the hangar, leaving a strange mystery for the others to solve. Truely a sight for the eyes.
Ouma smiled shakily, almost proud.
“Good luck with this one, Shuuichi.”

How about a scenario where DRV3 boys are exposed as the mastermind by their s/o? You can randomly pick the survivors on each scenario.
I really like all the different ways this could go. Thank you for submitting!
Shuuichi Saihara
“So according to Saihara’s observations, the mastermind is…”
You looked at Saihara. He had such a warm smile on his face.
“Go on, s/o. Tell them! I know you’ve figured it out.”
He was acting oddly like Kaede.
“The mastermind is…” You took a deep breath. “Shuuichi Saihara.”
Tenko and Kaito looked bewildered. Korekiyo slightly gasped.
“So you mean the person we’ve been trusting this whole time was…” Kaito looked downtrodden.
“Me! Yep!” Saihara laughed, mixed with dementedness and apology.
Something was off about his personality though. This couldn’t be the Saihara you knew, whether an advocate for the truth or despair.
“I actually thought of you guys as friends…but one day I woke up and felt different. I actually felt confident. I had self-esteem.” He smiled.
“Then I remembered I was the one who set up this killing game.”
Two buttons appeared at each stand, labeled Mastermind, and Freedom.
“Everybody here was nice to me…so I’m leaving the choice in your hands. You can either kill me and stop anymore killing games from happening, or choose your personal freedom and get released back into the world.”
You exchanged glances with the others.
As everybody’s hands hovered uncertainly over the buttons, you still had that thought in your head.
Is this really the real Saihara?
Rantarou Amami
Rantarou seemed to be impatient.
“Who do you think is the mastermind s/o?”
His eyes dug into your skin as you lamented over everything in your head.
He seemed different. The dots clicked in your mind.
“Rantarou…”
“Rantarou, are you the mastermind?”
He smiled gently and nodded. “You bit the bullet.”
The screens around you clicked on. It was playing the murders and executions of everybody who died.
Himiko threw up, and Angie looked at it with a mix of awe and disturbance.
You looked at Rantarou. “Why?”
He stifled a laugh. “I’ll tell you. The first mastermind was Iruma, but I was going to succeed her if she died in the killing game.” You remembered back to Iruma’s death when she was killed by Kaede.
“So that’s why Monokuma’s behavior suddenly changed…”
Rantarou nodded. “Well, I’m going to leave you three here until you all break. Then maybe you all can join me as the Mastermind’s assistants in the next game!
He turned around, and the door behind him slammed. You didn’t know how to feel. You looked up, seeing the videos of all your late friends. Maybe it would be better to not resist.
You should just give in, s/o.
Kaito Momota
Kaito, the one who was optimistic and always cheering people on?
The mastermind?
“That’s right, s/o! You’ve always been a good sidekick!”
You looked at him with his huge grin and thumbs up. It almost seemed like he was mocking you.
“Now, I have a deal for you s/o that I know you wouldn’t turn down. You’re listening, right?”
He continued on anyways. “If you agree to be my sidekick and help me with all the other killing games I have planned, I’ll let everyone go.”
You looked at your friends, Kaede, Maki, and Gonta.
Kaito looked at you with expectancy. You scowled. “I’m doing it for them, not you.” You walked over to where Kaito was and waved at all your friends.
A Monokuma grabbed you from behind and pulled you into a dark room.
Kiibo
You looked at Kiibo.
“Kiibo, you can’t be the mastermind.”
He looked down and tapped his fingers together. “I-I’m afraid I am…I’m so sorry s/o.” Kiibo showed actual empathy for what he did.
“Why?! Why would you betray us like that?” Kirumi said coldly.
“…I…” He seemed at a loss for words. Kiibo looked like he was going to cry if he could.
A door opened, leading to the outside. Your friends ushered out.
Kiibo and you looked at each other. “I’m sorry, s/o…I wish I could’ve…”
You nodded and left out the door.
When you were farther away from the Academy, you swore that you heard a muffled explosion.
Kokichi Ouma
You were the one person who trusted him.
Yet…was all the trust for nothing?
It seemed a bit too obvious for him to be the mastermind.
But all the clues pointed to him.
“S/o, is there something wrong?”
You looked around, and at Angie, who everybody said was the mastermind.
“Guys. Angie’s not the mastermind. The mastermind is Kokichi.”
“Nishishi~! S/o figured it out before Saihara!” He laughed on and on.
Saihara, you, Angie, and Ryoma looked at him with distaste.
“Yep, I’m the mastermind. It doesnt really matter since most of you don’t like me. But you’re all wondering ooone thing…why?”
Kokichi looked around and tapped his stand’s railing. He smiled to himself.
“That’s one thing you’re gonna die without knowing.” The hissing of gas starting to be released into the trial-room was heard. “I said throughout this game I was going to win it, and I am going to win this game. Even if I have to play dirty.”
It started getting hard to breathe. Kokichi looked at you. “I love you, s/o.”
He then turned and left you all suffocating from the lack of oxygen.
Gonta Gokuhara
Gonta was a kind soul.
Too kind to ever carry out a game like this.
Yet the words left your mouth, despite how much you doubted them.
“Gonta’s the mastermind.”
He looked at you with shock. “N-No! Gonta would never do something like this! Gonta swears!”
Everyone else had the same doubt in their mind, too.
Good.
“I’m sorry Gonta, but everything points to you being the mastermind. I..I don’t want to believe it too.”
Murmurs began. “What if s/o is the mastermind, and is just trying to get just to turn on Gonta?”
You sighed at you caught a glimpse of Gonta. You swore you saw a girl guiding his hand towards a button.
But then you felt the ground give out from under you and heard a girl’s laugh as you fell.
Ryoma Hoshi
You looked at Ryoma.
“Are you the mastermind?”
He nodded.
“All that I can say is it was fun.”
Silence filled the room. You looked at Kaede and Rantarou.
You looked back at Ryoma.
He was the least likely person to be the mastemind. Yet he was.
Monokuma said that the trial ended and you all went back to your rooms.
Except for Ryoma.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
“The mastermind is Korekiyo.”
Once everyone had processed what you said, Korekiyo went on one of his rants about humanity.
“…and so, I set up this killing game to witness the beauty of humanity in an unusual setting. It has been quite the performance.”
You didn’t even care anymore. A person that you thought you could trust, put 16 peoples lives at stake and views it as a performance.
Everyone but you participated vocally in the last trial.
As Korekiyo sealed his fate to his own execution, he seemed genuinely scared.
You wish that you could empathize with him, but he never really did empathize with you or anybody else here, did he?
For all of your lives were just but a stage.

NDRV3 Victims meet Killer
Trial 1
As she felt the cold darkness of death approach her, Kaeda smiled.
Perhaps now she could apologize to Rantaro
When she opened her eyes next she was no longer on the giant piano, she was in the fluffy clouds
She looked around, where was she?
Then gasped and clutched her head in pain as forgotten memories returned
She had... this was all..
“Hey Kaeda are you alright?”
She looked up (when had she closed her eyes?) to see Rantaro looking at her in concern
Rantaro...
She felt tears well up as she hug him tightly
“Rantaro! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to kill you.. I... I...”
“Hey.. it's okay. You only wanted to kill the mastermind right? You didn't mean to kill me.” He held her close to him and rubbed her back. “Besides.. you weren't the one to kill me Kaeda, you were wrongfully executed.”
“W-what!” She looked up at him startled. She.. she hadn't killed him?
“I'll tell you everything I know... your past memories are probably going to start to come back soon.. Let's go relax somewhere else. Hopefully no one will come soon.. but since this is Danganronpa...” He shook his head. “Anyways we can greet them when they come but for now you need to sit down for a while.”
Rantaro held out his hand in front front of him
“Let's go Kaeda.”
She looked at his hand for a second before slowly wrapping her hand in his
“Okay.”
Trial 2
She couldn't help the scream that escaped her lips as she fell
She failed.. she failed.. she couldn't protect her people she was a failure, a failure
And god was she in so much pain, make it stop!
As the pain started to fade away she gasped
“Hey Kirumi are you okay?”
That voice, it couldn't be..
Yet as she opened her eyes and looked down and behold there he was, Ryoma the one she murdered.
She opened her mouth to speak but a gasp of pain was all that escaped her as her head started to pound.
“It's alright Kirumi the head pain is normal. It's a sign that your memories are starting to return. Anyways we should go to the others.. we were all worried about you especially since how brutal your execution was..”
He held out his hand to her.
Why...?
“Why?.. Why are you being so nice to me? I killed you! I drowned you in your own lab!” She yelled out in confusion, her normal calm facade gone
To her surprise Ryoma let out a low chuckle
“So what? You had a reason to live while I had none. I understand why you did what you did. I forgive you Kirumi. So let's go back to the others alright?”
He forgave her.. just like that.. what a minute others?
“Do you mean.. Kaeda and Rantaro are here?”
He nodded
“Yup it seems they have been watching out for us. I'd be rude to keep them waiting ya know.”
She stood back up straight and looked down at Ryoma with a small smile
“I suppose you are right, we shouldn't keep them waiting.”
And she grabbed his small but powerful hand in hers and he lead her to where the others were waiting
Trial 3
I'm so sorry I failed you sister
That was the only thought that echoed throughout his mind as the world began to turn black
He couldn't do it, he couldn't send her 100 friends
And then his pain dissapeared and his vision returned
“HIYAAAAAAAAAH!”
Actually no now the pain has returned as something kicked his chest sending him down to the ground
“Nyahahaha! I think you were a bit harsh on him~”
That voice!
He opened his eyes to see his two victims, Tenko and Angie standing in front of him
Angie had a small smile on her face as she looked down at him while Tenko just huffed
“He did kill us you know!”
“Forgive and forget, that is what Atua is telling me!”
As the two argued he got back up and looked around
Clouds, clouds were everywhere the eye could see bathed in a golden light
“Are we perhaps in the afterlife?”
He questioned the arguing duo
Angie smiled at him and nodded her head
“Yup, yup! Isn't it wonderful!”
Tenko crossed her arms
“Yes it would be wonderful if we weren't dead! At least I can watch Himeko from up here..”
His eyes widen
“So we can watch what happens to the others from up here facsionating.... Urgh!”
He held his head as pain started to form from within it
Tenko looked down at him with a sigh before doing something he would never expect, she helped him up
“The head pain is normal it seems from what the others tell us it's your lost memories returning to you.”
She drapped his arm around her shoulder as she helped him up
“Ooooh! That's right the others are waiting for you Korekiyo! We should go meet them!”
Angie exclaimed as she grabbed his other arm to help him up
He couldn't understand why they were helping him.. he just murdered them in cold blood and now here they were helping him
“Why...?”
Tenko just looked away from him so Angie was the one who answered
“Because we are friends silly! Besides it's not your fault you killed us!”
And with that the two girls helped him walk to where the others were waiting
Trial 4
Gonta was crying
Even as the pray mantis stabbed him
Even as the fire was burning him alive he was crying
He just could not believe..
He.. he killed Miu..
So when the pain stopped and it seemed he was no longer being held up he simply fell to his knees sobbing
“Hey idiot! What are you crying for! If anything I should be the one bawling my eyes out not you!”
He opened his eyes to see Mui standing right in front of him, her hands on her hip as she glared down at him
“Mui! But.. Gonta thought..” He stood up in shock
“Yeah well you did strangle the shit out of me if that's what your thinking. But hey now we're both dead.”
So he did..
Gonta couldn't stop the wail that escaped him as he pulled Mui into a tight hug
“Hiiieeeeh!”
Mui was not expecting this one bit as she gave a startled reaction
“Gonta so sorry! Gonta not gentleman at all! Gonta don't know why he did it!”
“A-alirght! I get i-it now put me the fuck down!”
Mui yelled and he complied but as he did a strong pain flowed into his head
His hand clutched his head as the pain continued to throb
“Aaand there's the memory pain huh?
Mui stated to Gonta's confusion
“Memory?”
Mui brushed him off and sighed
“Anyways get up you big lump the others are waiting for us.”
“Others?”
“The other bozos who died, you still remember them right? So hurry up and let's go!”
With that she got up and began walking away
“H-hey! Wait for Gonta!”
And with that he followed her
Trial 5
Kaito couldn't help the smile that crossed his lips
He did it, he saw space..
And in some way be managed to beat Monokuma
But as his world faded away he heard something he never expect to hear again
“Nishishishishi~”
He opened his eyes wide in surprise to see Kokichi standing in front of him
And on instinct he slugged him straight in the kisser
“Owww! You see me again after killing me and you decide to punch me? I guess I kinda deserve it though”
Kokichi rubbed his jaw as Kaito looked around
“Where.. where are we?”
“Welcome to the afterlife Kaito~” Kokichi announced smiling at the confused Kaito
“W-what?”
“I mean how else would you get to speak to me. I was squished remember~” Kokichi giggled at his stun face. “Anyways at least you got the last laugh on Monokuma riiiiight.”
“Yeah I guess..”
Kaito rubbed his neck awkwardly as he looked around.
Clouds were everywhere.. were they in the sky?
“Hey Ko-”
“Anyways as much as I would love to answer all of your dumb questions, the others are waiting for you!”
Before Kaito could question him his head began to throb
“Ow.. he-”
“Aaaand there's the headache~”
With that statement Kokichi grabbed the confused Kaito's arm and began to drag him forward despite his protests
Trial 6
Tsumugi didn't expect anything to happened as she was crushed
Kiibo was just happy that he managed to help the other survivors escape
So when they both woke up to see clouds everywhere they had no idea what happened
Kiibo took a step away from Tsumugi, glaring at her slightly
“What have you done now? Where are we?”
Tsumugi merely sighed
“I don't know... this wasn't a part of the plan but I understand why you don't believe me.”
Kiibo opened his mouth to speak but stopped as he saw a figure approach
“Well well... welcome to the afterlife you two.” Rantaro drawled out as he looked at the two
Tsumugi paled and took a step back while Kiibo's eyes widen
“R-rantaro but you..” Kiibo stopped talking as he realized what happened “Is this a form of afterlife?”
Rantaro nodded
“Everyone's waiting for you two you know... don't know why they decided to send me”
“E-everyone... they want t-to meet me for.. revenge right?” Tsumugi stuttered out
Rantaro sighed and ruffled his hair
“Sure some of us are angry.. which is understandable.. but.. most of us just want to talk..” Rantaro trailed off and looked away
Kiibo moved forward ready to meet the other students but Tsumugi remained where she was
Rantaro smiled and Kiibo and began to walk him towards the others but then he stopped and turn towards Tsumugi
“Take your time.. I understand why you don't want to meet the others right now.. but we'll be waiting for you.”
And with that they both walked away leaving Tsumugi with her thoughts

Hello everyone and welcome to Thirsty Thursdays where we only serve you Despair with a side of Mod Tojo’s bad humor. Prepare to suffer. Upupupupupu~
Spoilers Ahead
Rantaro Amami
* It was the last day before Monokuma would flood the school with killer bears and everyone would die.
* You decided that the best thing for you now was to hope your ‘principal’ was bluffing, or… the worst case.
* Your last hours were spent lying with Rantaro, but you could tell he just wasn’t comfortable sitting there knowing everyone was going to die in the morning.
* He had a plan to get everyone out, even when the odds were obviously stacked against him, but he needed your help.
* You were shocked by his sudden request, but he wouldn’t let you falter.
* “S/o, you’re the only one I can trust to do this with me. Do you trust me too?”
* Of course you did, he protected you and loved you throughout this entire process. There were many opportunities where he could have just done you in, but it was obvious how strong your relationship was.
* “Then let’s go.”
* You follow close behind him in the shadows of the hallways, keeping a close eye out for any desperate lurkers who could have caused you harm.
* Finally, you reached the library.
* “Over there on the bookshelf is a tablet, it has a recording on it that’ll show us a way out. I just couldn’t get to it untill now.”
* You nod and make your way over to the shelf, sifting through the books to find the hidden item. Once you located it, you made your way to return the pad to Amami. That is until a flash went off behind you.
* What was that?
* As soon as you went to check, a metallic ball rolled from the top shelf and fell in the space between you and the books.
* While your guard was down, your loving and adoring boyfriend loomed over you, his plan to get everyone out definitely worked out in his favor. But what he didn’t tell you was that the only way to get out of the school was in a body bag.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
* It started with a few obscure comments every now and then followed by “only 100.”
* “Only 100 what, Shinguuji?” You’d ask him.
* But you could tell he was brushing you off with some half-baked lie about it being a significant number in human history.
* Your curiosity about it grew stronger each time one of your classmates died or were executed, but most curious was Kore’s behavior.
* He seemed…noticeably clumsier, almost careless even as if he had just relieved himself of an extremely heavy weight.
* You began to visualize that weight slowly lifting off of him as more of your classmates died. Perhaps he was glad this game was going to end soon…
* It wasn’t until the fifth death and execution that he seemed completely lax and practically carefree…so carefree he even removed his mask.
* What the actual-
* “I am so happy big sister finally has enough friends, s/o!~ She wanted to thank you herself! Please be kind to her!”
* …What?!?!?!?!
* “I needed this perfect opportunity to send the purest, most worthy girls to accompany my sister in her resting place. Now that I have finally accomplished my goal, I no longer need to hold you all here as captives. You are free to leave.”
* Free to… resting place… sister?!?!?! *cue major freak out*
* “Oh those poor innocent blackened students had no idea what they had gotten themselves into… and the last despairing expressions on their scared faces? Humanity truly is B E A U T I F U L.”
Kaito Momota
* He was angry.
* This was bs! Total crap! Not cool!
* How tf was he found out so suddenly? There was no way Shuuichi had seen through his ploy, even if he was the so called SHSL Detective!
* This was some kind of ruse!
* He stood behind his podium, his classmates expecting him to answer the accusations.
* Even worse, you were among them, horrified and stunned into silence, hoping Kaito would prove them all wrong. He could not be the mastermind. There was just no way!
* Kaito shook his head trying to clear his head, thinking hard about the situation he was in.
* Of course he was the mastermind…but he wasn’t going to let them know that, he still had a duty to protect them all…that way when the time was actually right, the despair could really be scarring.
* “Kaito are you just going to stand there or are you going to admit that-”
* “I’m not the mastermind.”
* You seemed a little relieved, but still held your worried gaze. There was no way that was it. He had to have some sort of explanation behind his actions! He couldn’t just stand there and say that-
* “S/o is…”
* What
* The
* Actual…
* “They were the one’s behind this whole operation. They threatened to kill me if I didn’t do as they said.”
* You were so shocked, you nearly forgot to defend yourself against your classmates…who were actually buying this story?!?!?!?
* “W-whoa! Wait! I am not the mastermind! He’s lying! We have evidence that-”
* “Guys just think about it for a second, everything that I did, none of it really traces back to me, there was still more clues…”
* The odds were definitely not in your favor this trial.
* But…but you didn’t have to take the punishment, there was still proof that–
* Were you really going to sell out Kaito, who was the real mastermind, to save yourself…
* Or were you actually going to go along with this, let the other students go free because the “mastermind” was dead and take the execution?
* Kaito was sacrificing you so this game could stop…it seemed like…the right thing to do…
* You never found out if the game ended with this trial or not, instead you bitterly said goodbye to your classmates and headed towards your death.
* Spoiler Alert! The game didn’t stop and the real mastermind left an “AI chip” forcing Monokuma on to allow the game to proceed.
Kokichi Ouma
* You were having a lot of nightmares lately, but who wouldn’t when you were trapped in a high school with the next Ultimate Killer ready to pluck off this week’s pickings?
* Each dream had something to do with Monokuma strangely and a grey figure you could never identify.
* Was it the mastermind? Who knows, but all you knew was that this nightmarish dream was keeping you from sleep. * Deciding that sleep was inevitable, you sat up planning to pay a visit to one of the coolest guys you knew, Kaito Kokichi.
* The morning announcement hadn’t gone off yet, so the dining hall was still off limits, however, your boyfriend’s room wasn’t~
* Okay maybe it was…he never let anyone go in there, what was the deal with that, anyway?
* When you approached his door, you froze.
* It was wide open.
* Weighing your options you figured it would be best to enter, even though he wouldn’t have wanted that, he could’ve been hurt especially at this hour!
* Rushing through the doorway, you paused at the sight before you.
* Images from your nightmares suddenly became vivid… but the most prominent was the DICE poster hanging above Kokichi’s bed post.
* “Like what you see, s/o?~“
* No way…it…it wasn’t true.
* There was no way Ouma was the mastermind! It just couldn’t be after all he was so helpful during investigations…and…and…
* “I’m sure you and the others are all so curious as to what my secret organization does~ Perhaps you’d like to take a guess~ It starts with a D, and it can flood an entire city 😉"
* “Ouma there’s no way you could be the mastermind! It’s just not true!“
* He just laughs to himself, practically crying with how despairing this situation was. Time to kick it up a notch.
* “Ouma are you listening to me?! You have to let everyone go! It’s not fair to keep us here!“
* “It’S nOt FaIr To KeEp Us HeRe!“
* He was mocking you and you’ve just about had enough. If he wasn’t going to stop, you-
* Ouma let out a heavy sigh as he watched you faint in the arms of one of his followers, a cloth covering your mouth and nose.
* “Took you long enough. Now go stage a murder scene, or make a real one, whichever you think will cause more despair. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
Shuuichi Saihara
* It’s the final class trial. The time to reveal which one of you is the real mastermind.
* The sacrifices it took to reach this point would not be forgotten and Shuuichi reassured you that everything would be okay.
* That is until Shuuichi stopped the trial altogether.
* “No, no, no. This is all wrong. How are you all missing the important details?”
* Huh?
* Your remaining classmates were just as puzzled as you, but Shuuichi only shook it off, insisting that the debating continued.
* Then it happened again.
* You turned to your strangely behaved boyfriend, questioning his motive behind stopping the debate this time, only to have him curtly cut you off.
* “You’re all missing the point here, there is no way the mastermind could have sealed them self off inconspicuously if he intentionally baited you all to lead you to your deepest despairs! Just stop and think about the one person who grew closest to each of your hearts!”
* What is he going on about?
* Shuuichi only seemed more frustrated to everyone’s “oblivious” answers, if this went on you were sure he’d blow a fuse or something.
* “It’s obvious no one’s gonna get it. This whole thing isn’t even as despair-inducing as I thought it would be, it’s just disappointing.”
* That’s when it hit you…
* “Shuuichi…are…are you the mastermind?”
* “Well, ‘Detective S/O’ it sure took you long enough to figure that one out!”
* There…there had to have been some mistake…even if he admitted it…it just wasn’t true!
* The rest of the class trial, the battle for Hope and Despair…you mentally checked out. There had to be some way he was lying? The sweetest guy on the planet could not have been for the killing game, there was just no way-
* Your own despair was interrupted when ‘Punishment Time’ echoed in the trial room.
* “Shuuichi stop this! You don’t have to go through this. What if I forgave you for everything? We…we could just go back to the way everything was before…what if-”
* He was laughing at you again, the same laugh you had heard from Monokuma throughout your prison life here, was the same laugh being projected around the room endlessly…
* He was too far gone…but perhaps there was another solution, another way you could have him back to normal.
* “Then…I’ll go with you.”
Kiibo
* Kiibo only wanted to learn about human emotions.
* This entire killing game was just one of his many tests to see if he could experience them all.
* There weren’t any robot laws preventing him from forcing humans to engage in murderous activity, it’s just that he physically couldn’t harm a human no matter what. :3
* Every time a murder happened, he was excited to check the cameras, hoping to witness new emotions under such dark circumstances.
* He kept them recorded in his internal hard drive, replaying them to himself, enjoying the shouts, screams, laughs, sobs, and so many more sounds that emotions could produce.
* But could he himself experience these things if he could experiment them hands on?
* He decided to ask you how to go about this tough situation.
* “S/o, what brings you despair?”
* You were taken aback by your boyfriend’s sudden dark question. But you figured there could be no harm in it…maybe he was just feeling left out because of this whole ordeal was nothing but a wave of confusing emotions, despair being lost somewhere in it.
* “Well, a lot of things can bring on…um despair… Having your secret leaked, losing someone you love, or maybe realizing a mistake you’ve made could have a huge impact on your life…”
* Kiibo perked up at those suggestions.
* They were easy, and he didn’t have to kill anyone…well directly anyway…to do it!
* “S/o, of you don’t mind I would like to try it out with you…”
* “Kiibo, despair isn’t something you want to feel, it’s…” you trail off wondering if it would be right to tell him this.
* Of course you’d never want your boyfriend to suffer because of despair…but it would be wrong to deprive him of it…the emotion was necessary because you learned so much from it…especially how to prevent it from happing again.
* “Okay…I guess…but be careful with it…it’s a really delicate emotion, you know-”
* “I’m the mastermind!”
* …
* Before you could even question him he struts off with a joyful pep in his step.
* He must have been joking…phew…for a second there…his serious face almost convinced you… But this is Kiibo we’re talking about, he’s a sweet guy, no way he could trap people in a prison school against their will, haha, so funny that guy.
* The next day went on smoothly, Kiibo never mentioned the conversation you had yesterday and all that mastermind talk was way in the past.
* But days grew on, and Kiibo had started to look a little glum.
* “Kiibo, what’s wrong?”
* “You said despair could be felt if I leaked one of my secrets! No one believes me when I tell them I'm the mastermind, and I don’t feel any despair!!!”
* “Kiibo, that’s not funny cut it out!”
* “But I’m serious, come see for yourself!”
* Reluctantly, you tag along, hoping that if you just played along, Kiibo would stop saying ridiculous things about him being the…mastermind…
* There in the library…a hidden room was kept tucked away from visible sight… Every camera in the school showed images of your classmates’ activities.
* You glanced at the center screen, where “Monokuma’s Central Control” was written.
* Despite your obvious horror, Kiibo was rather pleased with himself! The second cause of despair was now accomplished! Now for everything to go horribly wrong!
* He didn’t stop you from running off to warn the others of his horrible actions…but he wished he had when he watched the screen showing right outside the library.
* His mistake was letting you go, when he should’ve trapped you here, to protect you from this killing game.
* Instead, his secret caused him to lose you…and another student took the opportunity to kill you unexpectedly.
* This must have been what true despair felt like…
* And he loved it.
Gonta Gokuhara
* Cute, lovable, clumsy Gonta.
* Gentle spirited, and would literally never hurt a fly.
* He was proud to have someone to call his s/o, someone he could show his bugs to, and listen to if they ever got lonely.
* Not that he would ever let his s/o become lonely.
* Not when he had access to the biggest bug emporium known to mankind.
* Some were pesky, others were nice and friendly- those are the ones he really liked to keep around.
* But sometimes accidents happened and a bug would do something very bad and he had to punish them.
* When it was Punishment Time, the other bugs would cry (or not, depending on how naughty the other hurt bug was).
* His s/o was not a naughty bug though, because he would not let despair reach their bug- or um big heart.
* Even though he could easily enjoy the despair of squishing the other bugs, he wanted to observe them interact and create their own despair.
* If only they knew that Gonta was the hive king behind the bug emporium.
* If only those other bugs knew that was how Gonta saw them all…tiny insignificant bugs who would all meet their despair soon enough…
* His temptations and curiosity with despair was already brushed once and his favorite bug got crushed in the end…so he decided that all of the other bugs would be punished, even if it meant he would also be squished.
Ryoma Hoshi
* You ignored his warning from the start.
* Yeah, he was a killer, but that didn’t mean he was some monster…he had a good reason behind it…the mafia had taken his family.
* These were the excuses you’d told him, yourself, and anyone who questioned you.
* It wasn’t likely that someone so docile, and kind-hearted would kill in cold blood, even if they were placed in the right environment.
* At some point he had just learned to accept your love and move on. He couldn’t let the shadows of his past haunt him forever.
* He wouldn’t let that sadistic, blood-thirsty, enraged weaponized version of himself loose.
* He especially wouldn’t let the other students who had loved ones to return to– while his own family were mercilessly slaughtered after his performance in the underground tennis tournament– suffer the greatest despair of them all.
* Even when disgusting, stupid, bigoted, loud-mouthed, sneaky, or shady students lurked hoping that they’d kill to recieve their freedom- only to realize that no one would leave unless he wanted them to.
* No, of course not…not at all…
* Because he loved you…and even though sometimes the one’s he loved caused him the greatest despair…he would hold onto the hope you gave him.
* The hope to spiral the rest of your classmates into a well-deserved despair…
* His empty gaze stared at your lifeless body, your gaze forever frozen in shock from when he revealed his role as the mastermind to you.
* It wasn’t as dreadful as he thought it would be…but maybe that was meant to be your despair.
#Me and my memes#Do you all feel the despair yet?#Everytime Mod Tojo says despair is another hour she has to listen to Komaeda's laugh#Tehehe...Someone execute me lol#Anyways this was really intense to write for some reason#(probably because despair is unpredictable...and having to warp our precious bois into monsters really hurt me)#BTW I made the sprite edit...if you want it you can have it lol#Mod Tojo#Rantaro Amami#Korekiyo Shinguuji#Kaito Momota#Kokichi Ouma#Shuuichi Saihara#Kiibo#Gonta Gokuhara#Ryoma Hoshi#long post

Accident
“How would the V3 boys react to finding themselves accidentally killing someone or killing out of self defense in a killing game? Bonus if Kiyo kills a man and Kaede has expose Shuichi in the trial!”
Oooh this sounds great! I have so many ideas for this! Story under the tag!
Shuichi Saihara
He didn’t mean for it to go this way
He had been plotting a trap to stop the mastermind with Kaede
He was in the library looking for good places to set the cameras while Kaede went to go get more tape to set them up
As he was moving books to create a hiding hole he heard the doorknob rattle
Quickly hiding behind a pile of books, Shuichi watched as the door opened, Rantaro stepping in
Was Rantaro the mastermind?
That wouldn’t make sense, unless his obsession with stopping the mastermind was a facade
Shuichi held his breath as Rantaro opened the hidden door, his suspicions confirmed
He had to do something! What if Kaede walked in and Rantaro attacked her?
He rushed from his hiding spot, running towards Rantaro
He grabbed his arm, earning a look from the boy
“Shuichi, what are you-”
Shuichi shoved him away from the door, noticing it close behind him
Rantaro stumbled, tripping over a few books and falling, hitting his head on the edge of a bookshelf
The detective watched as he fell to the floor, a pool of blood forming under his head
Oh no
What should he do? Kaede would be back any minute.
He ran out, knocking some books over in the process
He ran to the dining hall, where Kirumi, Tenko, and Himiko resided
He sat with them, trying to be casual when he heard a scream come from the library
They all ran out, reaching the library and seeing Kaede in the doorway
Over her shoulder, they could see Rantaro’s body sprawled out on the floor
The investigation happened quickly, Shuichi excusing his nervousness as shock from his first time seeing a real body
When the trial came, he started the discussion, but was soon lost to his own thoughts
He couldn’t let them all die for him, could he?
Shuichi let Kaede carry the trial, only speaking up to confirm evidence or alibis
Finally, Kaede seemed to have pieced it together, looking at Shuichi with an expression that made his whole body churn with guilt
“Shuichi...was it...you?”
He clenched his fists, staring at her with defeated eyes
Everyone was shocked, how could their detective, their friend kill someone?
He nodded, earning a shout of denial from Kaito
He explained what happened, keeping his eyes on his own shoes
He let his classmates throw words of hate at him
He deserved it, after all
Once voting came, he voted for himself
He and Kaede shared look, shedding tears for each other
One final hug
One final smile
One final goodbye.
Kaito Momota
How could he have done this?
Just one second ago Maki was showing him all the weapons in her ultimate lab
Just one second ago she was sternly telling him to not mess with anything
But he didn’t listen
He had to play with the crossbow
He had to accidentally pull the trigger
And now one of his best friends, someone who could’ve possibly been more, was bleeding out on the floor next to him
He grabbed her, earning a sharp gasp of pain from her
He cried, incoherent words tumbling out of his mouth
She didn’t say anything, only staring up at him with wide eyes, hand holding his cheek
When her eyes glazed over and her hand fell, he screamed, not caring who heard him
When people came rushing in, he didn’t move, still holding Maki’s body
He watched as his tears fell onto her uniform, darkening the red of her coat
The trial came and went, Monokuma calling it one of the fastest trials in killing game history
He didn’t care
He deserved it
He killed one of his best friends
Ryoma Hoshi
Ryoma had expected to be targeted first
And he was right
What he didn’t expect though, was his reaction to the attack
So when Kirumi came up behind him and swung at him with a weapon, his first instinct was to swing at her with his racket
Startled, she spun and stepped back, tripping over the tennis net and hitting the floor, gasping for air at the impact
He watched, wide eyes when he noticed the wooden stick she had attacked him with had pierced through her stomach
He watched as she coughed up blood, staring at him with pained eyes
He saw the life drain from her eyes, her fingers stopped twitching and her chest stopped moving
Ryoma stood, staring at Kirumi’s still corpse
He only moved when he heard a gasp, looking over to see Angie in the doorway
So there was no way he was getting out of this, huh?
Rantaro Amami
Rantaro didn’t understand why he didn’t know his ultimate talent
Everyone else did so he obviously had one
Right?
He sat in the courtyard, aimlessly rearranging heavy rocks into patterns while he let himself get lost in his thoughts
Angie was with him, trying to help him remember his talent and be more happy
Atua told her to, apparently
All it did was make Rantaro frustrated, her constant talking and shaking him when he didn’t respond with more than a hum
“So you should get to know everyone around here more, huh?”
He gave another hum, shoving another rock into place
“Maybe it’ll help you remember your talent!”
“Maybe”
“You know, Atua says that everything happens for a reason, yea? You have sisters, yea? Maybe they went missing for a reason!”
Rantaro let in a deep breath, closing his eyes
“Angie, stop it”
“Maybe they went missing because your talent is super important, or dangerous!”
His hands grasped a rock, knuckles whitening
Rantaro doesn’t lose his cool
“I said drop it, Angie”
“Man, that must feel terrible, being the reason your sisters are gone. But don’t worry! Atua-”
“I SAID STOP!”
He swung at her, only remembering what was in his hand when it was too late.
He watched as she fell into the grass, blood staining it a dark color
He dropped the rock, watching it roll a few inches
What did he do?
He just killed someone
He only planned on killing the mastermind, and he definitely doubted it was Angie
After standing for a minute, thinking about his predicament, Rantaro calmly went back to his dorm, trying to pretend nothing happened
Which was kind of hard when the body discovery announcement woke him up from a nap, only a few hours later
He contributed to the investigation for only a small portion of the time, mostly looking out for who might be suspicious enough to be the mastermind
Not figuring anyone out only made him more frustrated
When the trial came, he tried to spin it on the mastermind, hoping that it would draw them out
But in the end, it was a lost cause, and he was voted as the true culprit
He looked at everyone around himself, giving them a half-hearted salute
“Well, I guess this is it for me. I hope you guys find the person behind this, okay? Get out of here, I know you guys can”
Rantaro gave one last look to all of the students, before turning to the bear
“Okay Monokuma, I’m ready.”
Gonta Gokuhara
Gonta sometimes underestimates his own strength, but it usually earns him a few laughs and some stern lectures
This time, it earned him a horrific sight
He had been helping Himiko with some of her magic tricks in her lab. She wanted him to help her practice some of her illusions, mostly the ones pertaining impossible feats
She was a mage, after all
But when she asked for his help with her sword box trick, he didn’t fully understand that she wanted him to wait a few seconds before putting in the first sword. So as soon as she entered, he stabbed the sword into the box at a random angle
He didn’t realize anything was wrong until he saw blood dripping out from underneath the box
He threw the door open, seeing Himiko standing in the middle, sword through her chest and gasping for air
Gonta yelled, not knowing what to do
“D...don’t worry! Gonta go get help!”
He ran to the nearest room, the dining hall. In there he found Tenko, Shuichi, and Kaito
He explained the situation through a flurry of tears and hiccups, dragging them to her ultimate lab
When they got there, Tenko screamed and immediately ran towards Himiko, noticing that she had already stopped breathing
She ran towards Gonta but Kaito held her back, only earning himself a kick to the stomach
She hit Gonta, screaming at him, but it did nothing as he stared at Himiko’s body
Shuichi went and gathered everyone else, before they waited out the investigation period and headed towards the trial grounds
The trial tensely came and went, everyone already knowing who the blackened was.
Kokichi Oma
Kokichi didn’t understand
Didn’t Gonta understand how to do anything?
He knew Miu planned to kill him, so he manipulated Gonta into killing her
But it went wrong
Did Kokichi’s plans ever go wrong?
Gonta had cornered Miu and began choking her, but Kokichi saw his face as it turned into one of confusion and guilt
“Gonta...Gonta no can do this!”
Before He could release Miu, Kokichi noticed the hammer she had dropped
He picked it up and swung at her, hitting her in the head with a harsh blow
She went limp immediately, Gonta freaking out
“Kokichi...kill Miu!”
Kokichi sighed, looking at her bleeding body
He’d have to pin this on Gonta, huh?
He talked Gonta down from his hysterics, telling him that it was alright
The entomologist would lose his memory anyways, right? So there were technically no witnesses!
They quickly put her body through the fake wall and returned to the cabin, joining everyone in the panic of Miu’s glitch
When they logged off, Kokichi realized the mistake
He had planted a bottle of poison, yet it was evidence she didn’t show any of the symptoms the poison had
Stupid Gonta!
He went along the investigation as usual, cracking jokes about how stupid the culprit was and calling Miu horrible names anytime she was brought up
When the trial came, he tried to spin it on his accomplice, but that defeated the whole purpose of his plans all along, doesn’t it?
He wanted them to get out, so he’s been setting up for an impossible crime, he didn’t want them to die
Well, maybe
But he didn’t want Monokuma to win!
When he first said it was himself, no one believed him. He did do that every trial though
But after more talking on Shuchi’s side he finally pieced together what really happened, and that Kokichi was really the culprit
After they voted, everyone was quiet
Shouldn’t they all be happy he’s leaving? He’s been tormenting them their whole lives here!
But it was still a heavy atmosphere, knowing they were now down two more classmates
This a snide one liner, he waved goodbye and let Monokuma walk him to his death.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
Korekiyo knew people were scared off by him. He knew his creepy look and intense personality warded everyone off from him. He didn’t mind, though.
Korekiyo would much rather watch everything unfold than have to interact with the other students in this academy
Which is why he was even more surprised when he was planning a murder of his own and Kaito walked in
This was an empty classroom on the third floor, why would anyone need to be in here?“H...hey, Kiyo...”
Korekiyo watched him, occasionally glancing back at the cage and sheet he had in the room. “Hey, what’s in your hand?”
Kiyo looked at his hand, noticing he was still gripping the sickle he planned to kill one of the girls with.
“Oh, I was using it to make markings in the floor”
“Okay.” Korekiyo began to turn back to his work when he heard a click, turning around to see Kaito pointing a crossbow at him. “What are you doing?”
“I was always suspicious of you. You’re planning a murder, aren’t you?!”
Kaito shot, but his shakiness and inexperience with a crossbow made him miss, hitting the wall behind Korekiyo
The ultimate astronaut swore, and charged at Kiyo. Kiyo dodged a punch, moving through the center of the room, careful not to land on his own trap
Kaito, on the other hand, was unaware of the modifications he had made to the floorboards. He ran towards Korekiyo, stepping on the board and tripping, leg stuck in the trap
Kiyo, in the rush of the moment, swiftly moved towards Kaito, slamming the sickle into his neck
He watched as he bled, silently panicking. He’s only supposed to kill girls, that was his promise to his sister! What did he do?!
He quickly left, going back to his lab
The body discovery announcement rang out, and he walked slowly to the classroom
Inside was Angie, sitting down and pale, along with a few of their other classmates
He sat in the corner like he usually did, watching Shuichi panic over his best friend. He noted how silent Maki was, before she stormed out.
When the trial began, he continued like he usually did, dropping small bits of info he deemed irrelevant to the case
Then, the mystery was cleared up when they looked at the cultural side of everything that was in the classroom
The voting commence, everyone voting for the ultimate anthropologist
It took all of Maki’s strength not to hurt Kiyo, it was evident by the stare she was giving him. It only angered her more when he said he had no pity for Kaito, only for the fact that he couldn’t keep his promise to his sister
With a laugh, Monokuma dragged him off to his death
‘At least I’ll be with my beloved once more.’
Kiibo
Miu had been trying out new functions on him practically everyday
He had been in her ultimate lab quite frequently, and most of the time he was shut off to make sure nothing went wrong
And nothing every did, till Miu tried to add a hologram function, so they could see his memories. It seemed to work find when they first tested it, but after a few moments of using it Kiibo blacked out
When he regained consciousness, he saw Miu on the floor, bleeding from a head wound. He looked at his own hand, noticing the blood splatter on it
He practically short circuited from the sight, screaming
This alerted Gonta and Kaede, who had been bug hunting in the fields closest to the ultimate inventor lab
Kiibo apologized profusely, if he could cry he would be
Kaede went and got the rest of the class after calming Gonta down
The trial happened without an investigation, Kiibo silently voting for himself
It still hurt when Monokuma announced him as the blackened. He whispered one final apology before being hauled away by Monokuma.

I hope you like it! Sorry it took so long, and I apologize that some are super short!

Trial 5 - Pre-Execution
Investigation 1 / 2 - second half is where I put my own theories that I penned before playing the trial.
Trial: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8
HOW MANY TRIALS ARE GOING TO END WITH A CONFESSION ANYWAY
Hnngh - okay, this is actually happening now. We’re having a post-trial talk with Kaito before we send him off to the gallows. Cool. Cool. Cool cool cool cool -
marvels again that on the most basic detail I was right but as a whole I was very, incredibly wrong about what went down
This is going to be a weight for her to bear for a long time, huh.
He’s trying so hard to stay positive and cheer everyone up - how can you be so upbeat right now???
well I guess there’s the fact that he’s had plenty of time to come to terms with his own death since yesterday’s events but -
get this man an Oscar
Kaito is low-key impressed just saying.
I’m sorry when the fuck between the extreme muscle spasms, seizures and general shut down of his body was he supposed to have written this? Was this something he started before all this happened? Was this a contingency plan? omg - was he thinking of Shuichi when he originally wrote the script and came up with a ‘in case something happens to me’ trial plan, then filled in the details up until he died to match the exact circumstances of what actually happened? He did ask Shuichi to be his partner last chapter... how long has this particular plan been in his head for???
How hard was it to swallow his pride and ask Kaito for help instead of Shuichi?
going for those Beatrice vibes even beyond the grave, huh
PLEASE ELABORATE PLEASE -
DAMN IT -
okay I see what the game is trying to do here. And I appreciate it going and highlighting how clever Kokichi is for his foresight, his planning, and his general awareness and understanding of the people around him. That is coming through loud and clear.
But can we talk about Kaito’s ability to ad-lib on the fly, in character, and react to all the situations he was presented? Because Kokichi could not predict the exact future. He clearly planned things, not just in the general sense, but there is only so far a mere mortal could go.
“When Shuichi brings up these points, counter with those.”
“Flatter Himiko to throw her off. Here are some sample lines. Push it as far as you need to to make her flustered.”
“Play on Tsumugi’s ‘everyday boring girl’ syndrome.”
“Here are all the insults I’ve come up with to use at K1-b0 to distract him. Choose the ones that fit the moment, or use them to come up with your own if needed.”
“These are turns of phrases I use to project my incredibly important image.”
“Here’s a 20 paragraph speech I’ve prepped as a giant SCREW YOU to Monokuma, you can break it up as you need to but you have to make sure you get through all of it at some point because I want to rub this in his face and if I’m not there to do it you NEED to do it for me.”
I’d laugh if he had scripts and script notes denoting possible variations, but there’s just a bookmarked page partway through the script and it’s this long anti-Monokuma manifesto
Anyway, I want to admire Kokichi’s planning, absolutely - but I also want to appreciate Kaito’s own skill along with it, because I don’t think they should take from each other at all. Even if he broke character a few times (which is even more hilarious in hindsight), he was utterly convincing in full acting mode!
:(
.... does K1-b0 power off his eyes when he wants to look incredibly depressed... sorry, utterly distracted for a moment...
(Himiko looks depressed too - I’m just trying to not literally upload every single frame of the scene already and it’s HARD.)
Fucking hell Kaito, with all of your self-aggrandising talk why is it now that you can’t understand why everyone is upset?!
Well... I mean, I do kind of get it. Trying to make everyone around you happy - in general, and with themselves - is practically your raison d'être. And right now, you’re the reason everyone is so upset. But still, it’s only because everyone cares about you so much!!!
Kaito put on a pedestal and pushed off of it - check.
How?? Like, how did he phrase it??? Did he decorate it with his normal sureme leader talk? Did he lay out that Kaito basically owed him a debt now? Or did he leave it with just ‘Maki will be the blackened if you don’t do this’?? I have a feeling that whatever I get from the flashbacks, it still won’t be enough 8′D
In the last chapter? Or longer? ... It must have been longer, right? He was writing on that stone since at least chapter... 2? 3? and was talking to Monokuma in Chapter 4.
LMAO WHAT A CASUAL WAY TO DROP THAT PARTICULAR KNOWLEDGE BOMB
“Oh shit really? Wow, go figure.”
i enjoy kaito’s mildly shocked face here
HOW MUCH GEAR DID YOU GET MIU TO MAKE FOR YOU??? Am I going to have to pore over all of your interactions after all??? You guys gave each other so much crap during the trials and outside of them??? You had that ridiculous black-and-white scene in front of the computer??? How close WERE you two before she lost herself to paranoia?!
I can’t help but think everything with Gonta was improvised based on how events were unfolding around him. Would he have still tried to do the same thing if Miu hadn’t been making an attempt on his life? Or did he know that at some point down the line he would have to orchestrate a murder to convince everyone that he was the mastermind? Was this something he had to steel himself to do, or was that always in the back of his mind as an option from the beginning?
I’m sure that last bit upset Kaito the most - he was Gonta’s most stalwart defender in the last trial.
I haven’t seen this sprite in a while, jeez. Or... have I seen this sprite before??? It’s definitely similar to the ones he showed in Gonta’s trial, but I don’t recall him being so, erm, sweaty then.
#calledthat
That has to rankle more than anything. He highlighted Maki’s talent repeatedly and continuously called her out about it, and then this.
The fact that he’s framing it as ‘the true mastermind is at fault’ and not putting it all on Maki is interesting. I wonder if Kokichi just sees Maki as a weapon as opposed to a person? Accurately in this case, perhaps...
Frowning/serious Kokichi is so strange?!?! Not that there’s any reason for him to be smiling here, but it’s really telling that he can’t even bring himself to do it here. This is probably the closest we’ll get to seeing his true feelings and thought process, huh...
Whelp I just went back to this part after writing a whole blurb a few screenshots down and the ‘mastermind doesn’t remember they’re the mastermind’ theory I concocted for fun just died an unceremonious death. I did enjoy those brief few minutes of my oddball ‘Maki doesn’t remember she’s the mastermind’ theory while it lasted so I’ll leave it up for you guys to laugh at enjoy! Unfortunately Monokuma being in time-out debunks it unless there are two masterminds.
If we tie this to the funeral scene... I proposed the idea that the flashback lights give their brains scenes to work with - aka that they aren’t necessarily actually their memories, but perhaps someone else’s, for example - and that their brain works to interpret them and make sense of them, and generally fit them into their own world view. I think it’s becoming accepted now that memories themselves are somewhat pliable and can even change during each ‘recall’. So if they were given the flashback light that said, ‘hey, there’s a cult working to destroy you all and it’s led by the traitor in the group, X’, their brains would fill in ‘X’ with Kokichi based on the context at the time. It also gives room for the idea that I originally had, aka that the talents and perhaps even memories they all have aren’t necessarily their own - that they could have easily had their talents switched between them in the prologue, and the fact they landed like this was just a coincidence - and the one known as ‘Kokichi, Supreme Leader’ could have easily one of the other classmates in a different timeline. The mastermind would be able to have the ability to adapt to any scenario, if that was the case...
lmao yeah that was pretty obvious
So even Kokichi never figured it out in the end? That’s pretty significant - the kid is basically a living lie detector. That leaves four possibilities that I can think of:
1) The mastermind isn’t actually among us. I highly doubt that - we’ve been building to a reveal from the beginning, even as far as having Shuichi find the door in the library.
2) The mastermind is among the dead - someone Kokichi never got a chance to ‘read’. The best candidates for that would be Rantaro and Kaede. Rantaro would be the almost too obvious choice, between his memory loss, the video where he tells himself ‘you wanted this’, and his general intelligence and knowledge of the proceedings - and, hell, his lab door. Alternatively, this would be a good way to bring Kaede back into the game - we did see a shot of her wearing that helmet too, and also it would be nice to see her again tbh
I just... don’t think this is the case though. Not only because we’ve done that with Junko already, though that’s a bit one, but because everything was set for DR1′s twist from the beginning - 15 students and 16 stands, the ‘odd one out’ murder aka Mukuro, etc. Rantaro’s video is certainly hinting at something, but I’d be shocked if it was leading to his reveal as the mastermind.
DEBUNKED :( 3) The mastermind doesn’t have their memory. Now, we’ve already done this with SDR2 so I really, highly doubt this is the case but if it is this way the best choice would be for it at this point in the game to be Maki. I mean, Shuichi would have been viable too... if he wasn’t the protagonist, because then we’d really be retreading old territory. Anyway, here’s the fun ‘what if’ for why Maki!mastermind could potentially work - it would really add onto Kaito and Kokichi’s conflict. Kokichi never liked Maki from the start, and antagonized her repeatedly - what if it was he sensed that potential in her? What if she was sent to infiltrate the mission by the cult and have everyone killed like this? And on Kaito’s side, he spends big chunks of the game trying to redeem her. What if it worked? What if it turned out that both Kaito and Kokichi were right, as a follow-up to this chapter where they both set aside their differences and work with each other (and, well, are killed by Maki). What if Kaito turned someone who had the capability to set up this game into someone that wouldn’t? There’s so ground that could be covered in this direction - I mean, I doubt it’s true which is why I said from the getgo that I highly doubt it’s the case, but it would be a fantastic reason to have highlighted her character so much and really give depth to, well, ‘tsundere assassin learns to love’. I could go on about this tbh...
4) The one I’ve been partial to for a while now... the mastermind is someone who specializes in lying. In putting on a mask. In breathing life into a persona, inhabiting it, becoming it, until it’s indistinguishable from their own identity - perhaps becomes their identity in those moments, to the point that Kokichi wouldn’t be able to realize they were lying. Oh, Kokichi was incredibly adept at it, sure - but he was recognized for his leadership skills, as unorthodox as they may have been. There’s someone else still alive, however, whose talent addresses the concept of ‘becoming another person’ has not been showcased much if at all to this point.
now mind you other than the proclivity for cults shown in chapter 3 and references to escapism, I still haven’t gotten a proper motive in mind but at all but hopefully that’ll come next chapter??? anyway I’m getting distracted again
kokichi has the heart of a gamer
You just know that’s Kokichi’s game face. I mean, Kaito has his ‘optimistic!’ face on right now to give him the strength to face his own execution - maybe this is Kokichi’s way of comforting himself too?
THAT MUSIC CUT!!!
“ALSO HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING THAT WITH YOUR EXPRESSION, IT’S JUST THE TWO OF US, CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME BEFORE YOU DIE -”
Could it have worked the other way around? If Kaito let himself die, Kokichi pretended to be Kaito in the exisal and it was left decide whether ‘Kaito’ mercy-killed ‘Kokichi’ via the press or if he died by poison first, would that have been viable? Probably not as effectively... it would be a lot easier for them to believe Kokichi was pretending to be Kaito, less believable that Kaito wouldn’t show himself in the exisal, and a whole host of other factors. Maybe not, then.
And of course Kaito asked Kokichi that, because if he’s going to be committing to a plan this wild he needs some assurance.
Then there have to be people alive, right??? But they saw the burning ruins around them when they tried to leave, and even collapsed because of the air quality - so what, did they crash land in an area that was wiped out or something? But there are still places where people are alive?
It was a test, then.
... Gonta... has to have been a heavy weight on his conscience. I think we can officially say his breakdown over him was real if he would go so far as to try and end the killing game like this - and if Gonta was a necessary sacrifice, it was one Kokichi was pushed to make when he had few options left.
I think the chess analogies I’ve been associating with him are accurate at this point, and it would even be fair to say that if you were to think about Kokichi’s strategic thought process, the allusions are almost necessary - the whole game is about exchanging pieces in order to get a more powerful position on the board and eventually corner the ‘king’, and at some point Kokichi looked at the board and his available moves, as well as the ‘piece’ Miu Iruma putting him in a ‘check’ position, and realized that his only option was to intercept her with ‘piece’ Gonta. I also like using chess here too because there’s duality in that too - there’s the side of Miu that Kokichi can and clearly did use for his strategies, and the side that the mastermind used by way of motive.
Ah, and of course I’d be remiss to not mention that Yu-Gi-Oh! the card game works well too here (hell, it comes up in his FTE) even though it’s less accessible; it’s a game where more powerful moves require sacrificing lower level ‘monsters’, and there’s a literal graveyard they’re sent to. Also, unlike chess, playing from the graveyard is a legitimate strategy in YGO . I’m sure, especially after this trial, Kokichi can relate to that strategy in particular.
Or maybe as they’re suddenly starting to imply it’s more like the ‘Black Book Club’ ala YYH? There must be people alive then, right? ... So maybe... people who survived through unscrupulous means and sheer force of wealth and need some sort of entertainment??? They remembered being kidnapped at the beginning of everything, right? Were they intercepted before the gopher project had a chance to play out and now they’re being kept in an isolated facility somewhere meant to replicate the ship, but it actually isn’t the ship at all? Wait, when did I start wearing a tinfoil hat - ?!
Kaito is defending Kokichi, everything is right in the world
Shuichi: Please don’t redirect the spotlight at me - ah, shit shit damn it shit
“It’s just like Kokichi said!”
mm thank you game, keep feeding me merci beaucoup
Himiko just gobbles up any bit of positive attention thrown her way with the obvious and incredibly glaring exception of Tenko??? man I really need to do her FTEs or something - does she just not know how to handle straight-up affection or -
i n h a l e s
KOKICHI OUMA
IS NOT
A REMNANT OF DESPAIR!!!!
K1-B0 YOU’RE KILLING ME HERE!!!
This just makes me wonder if betting and big money in general is wrapped up in all of this. “Who is the mastermind? Now gentlemen, place your bets before the reveal!”
MAKI IT’S THAT ATTITUDE THAT GOT US IN THIS SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
tsun
dude he found a way to save Maki and potentially stop the game, I would hardly call it ‘evil’.
“I mean, I was hoping we could cut straight to the chase, but you’re actually a decent guy at the end of the day, and unlike most of the rest of the class don’t actually want me dead. Damn it.”
Fucking hell, between the music and his faces it so so easy to frame him as eeeeviiil!!! And yet just looking at the text in isolation, it reads:
“But are you sure you’re okay with that? Because if this poison kills me, then Maki would become the blackened. And her crime would be exposed so easily.
If that happened, then Maki and I would’ve died for no reason, right? Which is just what the true mastermind expects...”
And yeah sure it still has a bit of an edge to it, but it’s way more ambiguous when presented outside of his “Supreme Leader” aura which apparently can warp both his face and music.
Kaito is still trying to filter this through his ‘hero vs villain’ narrative, bless his heart. Either that or this is a heavily edited version of events - it would be interesting, even if it’s unlikely, if we found out that Kokichi made Kaito promise to tell everyone a different story than what really happened in the event of being found out.
There are gears turning in Kaito’s head right now, you can’t tell me there aren’t.
even if some of them are just him thinking ‘no seriously how are you doing that with your face’
NO!!! NO ‘D’ WORDS IN THIS HOUSEHOLD!!!
FUCK I want to have a montage of Kokichi doing incredibly kind-hearted and generous things and just doing his damnedest to spin it all in the most scary, ominous way possible!
“To answer your question, it’s really hard for me to hold my face in these expressions and the muscle spasms beginning to wrack my body are making it that much harder.”
But you can see shades of yourself in him, can’t you? That’s the scary part. Their goals aligned. This whole time, they’ve just wanted to help their classmates survive. They assigned themselves bombastic personalities in order to take the pressure off of those left in the class and damn it, they both prepared themselves to die alone in order to make good on their wish to save everyone left. Kaito made references to Kaede’s last wish - I wonder if Kokichi took it to heart as well?
No you were, Kokichi! No you fucking weren’t! Fml I don’t know how much solace that gives you at the end of the line, but...
Okay I nearly ended the post here as a tribute to Kokichi’s efforts but I have a rule of doing a single post-trial, pre-execution post and I must resist that urge -
LMAO IS THAT WHAT YOU GOT OUT OF THE EXCHANGE
I-It’s going to take you a while to warm up to the idea of ‘Kokichi actually wasn’t the dick he pretended to be’ huh. 8′D
OH REALLY
IT WASN’T BECAUSE OF MAKI OR ANYONE ELSE
IT WAS BECAUSE YOU TWO AGREED ON SOMETHING
SO YOU WEREN’T ULTIMATELY BLACKMAILED OR COERCED INTO THIS, EVEN IF THAT’S WHAT GOT YOU LISTENING INITIALLY
YOU CHOSE TO DO THIS FOR THE GREATER GOAL OF RUINING THE GAME
just. just want to make sure that point was clear for myself. Seems like it’s important characterization-wise, that’s all.
This seems like a good time to note that I am 99% sure Kaito had those swirly despair!eyes DR is known for in the last image with him coughing up blood. That was definitely the turning point for the chapter.
Also, Kokichi didn’t just swallow his pride - Kaito did too. He’s wanted to be the hero who swooped in to save the day for how long??? And here he is, admitting that this was fully Kokichi’s plan, and acknowledging that Kokichi was correct in a lot of ways even if he didn’t agree with him on everything. Beautiful.
nO IS IT FINALLY HAPPENING WE’RE ACTUALLY TALKING ABOUT THIS NOW
‘THAT WAS A LIE.’
OKAY THAT’S IT, WRAP IT UP FOLKS, WE’RE DONE HERE.
“Ha ha yeah I could probably drop dead at any moment tbh ha ha why are you giving me those looks huh ha ha ha hrk -”
I’m guessing the medical exam took place before all of these events happened. But wasn’t the whole point of selecting these guys that they were immune or something??? I mean clearly it wasn’t true - I guess it was dormant or - ?!
... which Monokuma then brings up himself. Cool, thanks.
How dare you say that so cheerfully. >:(
L M A O
he’s so bloody casual about the whole thing
I mean I get that it’s because he’s come to terms with dying but
damn it Kaito
A chance to end the killing game and save everyone, knowing he was on his way out either way, and a way to save Maki specifically - it really was the perfect storm, huh?
Well damn it I know it’s implying this all happened after Kokichi died, but the idea of Kaito visibly fangirling over the plan in front of Kokichi, giving him a bit of external validation for the first and last time since his miserable life started here, makes me feel a little better. If nothing else, he would have at least felt good about the chances of success before he died.
FUCKING DAMN IT IT’S LIKE KAITO LINED UP HIS DIALOGUE STRAIGHT AT MY HEART AND PULLED THE TRIGGER
MERCILESS
DAMN YOU KAITO I SEE THAT SMILE YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU’RE DOING
my BOYFRIEND
I’m not sure if he’s trying to comfort Shuichi after messing up Kokichi’s plan or not but if he is, he’s incredibly good at it.
Was it????
again, more praise for him -
Kokichi, beyond the grave: NO YOU DUMBASS I GAVE MY LIFE SO YOU COULD END IT IN A SINGLE TRIAL as soon as you join me in the afterlife I am going to KICK YOUR ASS -
AIBOU
Oh you big hypocrite. Wait - no - let me check -
*takes off shipping glasses*
Nope, I still don’t buy it. Kaito has a tendency to go to an extreme with his words - he’s shown that time and time again. The fact that he’s already started layering praise on Kokichi at this point - that means something. The idea of him as a whole still rankles Kaito and he still has their clashing viewpoints and outlooks on life to work through, but his opinion on him has already turned so much at this point. If he had more time to think on it, I bet it would change that much further. And again - pointing to that love hotel scene - Kaito loves a challenge, and people that challenge him. Kokichi was a fantastic rival for him, and the fact that he knows now that he never meant any true harm to them is important. He also hasn’t been given a chance to really digest the importance of everything Kokichi revealed to him - he basically got the script and plan thrusted into his hands, spent whatever time he wasn’t sleeping and recuperating studying it and preparing for the trial, and now, well, we’re here. Kaito has been shown to be very good at reevaluating people once he’s cooled off, and he hasn’t had a chance to really do that!
.... If only he had more time to reflect. 8c
!!!!! g o d ........
The darkened face sprite...
Insert Himiko parallel here.
WELL COOL THAT WAS PRETTY UNAMBIGUOUS
“NO DAMN IT! I HAVE MY ROCK-SOLID VIEW ON HIM! STOP MAKING HIM LOOK SYMPATHETIC!”
If you really thought that, would you really share those words with everyone? In fact, just the fact that you said that in reference to being a ‘lying sack of shit’ in regards to his supposed feelings during the game and acting like everything happening was fun - that, uh, kinda speaks for itself!
Thank you K1-b0!!! I officially forgive you for calling Kokichi a Remnant of Despair again.
don’t you pull this shit on me game
just because you have the class split down the middle doesn’t mean you can pull the wool over my eyes
WAS HE.... THOUGH....
No seriously, what an odd thing to say. I... I don’t know what to make of it. Do actions not speak louder than words? Am I the crazy one here??
!!!!!!!
HE’S ACTING ON HIS CLAIM OF ‘COMMUNICATION BEING IMPORTANT’ AAAAAH
OH MY GOD WHAT AN EXCELLENT APOLOGY
Seriously I could probably learn a thing or two from it, damn.
Chapter 5′s entire mission is to make me cry, I see, I see.
Even now, three chapters later, I am still incredibly impressed by that move on Kaito’s part. He just knew exactly how to alleviate the pressure Shuichi was under.
?!?!
AH NO NOT COOL WHAT THE FUCK NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR HEARTFELT APOLOGY DAMN IT
as;dlkfj Kaito you and Kokichi are tied in having the most horrifying sprites in the game. Congratulations! You did win at something after all!
ANOTHER FUCK YOU FOR MAKING ME LAUGH WITH THAT ‘YOU SURE ARE, BUCKO!’ BULLSHIT
speaking of sprites that denote great terror!!
I-It really is the Kaede scene all over again D: including them being willing to fight Monokuma and Kaede/Kaito protesting!
I hope you do little man!!!
This was the strength Shuichi desperately wanted but didn’t have in chapter 1 - and man oh man it’s nice to see him showing it now, in full force!
but as usual Monokuma is off thinking about his own thing
DOES
THAT
ARE YOU SAYING WHAT I THINK YOU’RE SAYING
THAT YOU RECYCLED LIFE
THAT THESE GUYS ARE NOT JUST REPLACEABLE, BUT PERHAPS REPLACEMENTS
DID YOU RECYCLE MEMORIES AND TALENTS, PERHAPS -
oh NO APPARENTLY NOT DON’T YOU DO THIS
...........
Okay they all introduce themselves here but you know what? No. No. I’m not dignifying you guys with your opening screenshots even if I do love your theme song. sorry monodam I like you but I’m lumping you in with the rest of them
YOU ARE DEFINITELY MAKING SOME SORT OF STATEMENT ABOUT THE ACTUAL STUDENTS HERE
PERHAPS ABOUT HOW YOU GATHERED UP SOME NO NAME KIDS AND FORCED TALENTS, MEMORIES AND ABILITIES OF DEAD STUDENTS FOR SOME REASON, OR THAT YOU HIJACKED THE ORIGINAL PLANS OF PEOPLE WHO DID THAT
perhaps to make sure those that were immune to the virus were what humanity needed to survive or something???
I JUST -
I JUST DON’T KNOW IF I’M RIGHT ON MY CURRENT ASSUMPTION OR IF THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS I’M MISSING BECAUSE WHAT I’VE COME UP WITH FITS PRETTY WELL
oh jeez okay we’re making a direct comparison then - I guess that’s fair at this point of the game, but I guess I just wasn’t ready for it?
THAT’S. THAT LITERALLY GOES AGAINST THE WHOLE ‘EVERYONE IS DEAD’ THING. YOU KNOW THAT, RIGHT?!
YOU’RE REALLY NOT
Except you. Only you. so basically the opposite of monokid. whatever i really don’t care about the kubs tbh
........ oh fuck
Sadly I’m on Kaito’s side in all of this.
It really did grow on her, huh. When was the last time anyone showed her any sort of affection outside of that ‘childhood friend’ hinted at in her FTEs? :(
I didn’t keep all of the interspersions of Kaito reacting in surprise to Maki’s statements but the fact that he didn’t realize his impact on her, that he was really getting through to her, is sad to me. Makes sense - the only indication he got that she was starting to respond to his ‘training’ was from Shuichi in the hangar bathroom scene, and then just a few hours later she busts in, completely throwing away everything he said about her being more than her talent, and basically acting as the mastermind’s weapon. It is incredibly interesting that he’s so shocked by all of her outbursts here - that he didn’t realize how much she actually cared about him.
Aaaah she’s crying D: Those sound clips, man...
And here’s the confession that was pretty much inevitable at this point.
For once Shuichi knew a matter of the heart before Kaito. That’s significant - in fact, it may actually say more about Kaito than Shuichi. You brag so much, but when it comes down to it, you really did underestimate the power your positivity had on people - or perhaps, more likely, your own self-confidence was shaken that badly in the last chapter?
Figures you’d only let us see you bleed is when you physically can’t hide it anymore and are actually about to drop dead.
KAITO UNDERSTANDS PEOPLE
INCREDIBLY WELL
AND KNOWS HOW TO SUPPORT THEM UNTIL THEY CAN STAND ON THEIR OWN
You - are you not going to address her confession at all??? omg I... I think Kaito may not feel the same way about her. Oh. oh jeez this is awkward...
Seriously though, what a smart way for him to take that confession and use it to help her. Whether he likes her back or not, it doesn’t matter - he won’t be around much longer anyway. What’s most important to him right now is that his friends will be okay when he’s gone - and in this moment, that they stand down and live.
I mean. Come on. He’s literally dripping blood from the mouth and smiling through it. Kaito, you’re absolutely ridiculous and I love you.
easy for you to say, you can’t see yourself right now
whatever Kaito you can’t fucking stop me I’m on the other side of the screen
WHOA DAMN WHERE DID THOSE COME FROM
Wait, that’s a reference to Ishimaru, right? Uh, Ishida?
.... does that mean this is him speaking for both him and Kokichi right now???
“Like I did. Like Kokichi did. Learn from us. Grow in our absence. Thrive. And take that sonuvabitch down.”
YES ONE LAST SAIMOTA BRO-TALK FOR THE ROAD!!!
OH GOD OKAY SPEAKING OF THINGS ‘FOR THE ROAD’, ANOTHER DEPRESSING SPRITE
Man, you just weren’t ready for this game at all. Physically you were stronger than everyone else, but mentally...
And just like that, he backs down. There’s probably some pretty valid criticism levelled at Kaito about being persistent and not always taking ‘no’ for an answer, but he does when it’s most important to, I think. And he knows to back down here because damn it, she needs to get this out of her system.
You’re not just some hero, Kaito, and that’s okay - you’re not some larger than life Ultimate Astronaut, Luminary of the Stars, just as Shuichi isn’t just the Ultimate Detective and Maki isn’t just the Ultimate Assassin -
You’re Kaito Momota, Shuichi and Maki’s friend. <3
THE FIRE IS BACK!!!
YOU TELL HIM, MY MAN!
Just so you know, when I played this through initially I just. I just paused the game a few screenshots before this because it was late and FUCK THIS SHIT I’M NOT WATCHING HIM DIE BEFORE I SLEEP TONIGHT
not sure if delaying the inevitable was any better but anyway, that’s where my head was at. I was incredibly Not Ready either way.
THIS IS ALREADY INCREDIBLY ‘NOPE’
NOPE IS AN EMOTION RIGHT
fuck it it is now
holy shit it’s the execution that started the whole series off
Also I’m mad about how pretty the whole thing is. Is that the planetarium that we can use as a gift???
Nice new threads, Monokuma.
NO HE’S ALREADY IN SO MUCH VISIBLE PAIN THIS IS NOT COOL AT ALL
NO FUCK YOU
I KNOW I SHOULD BE IN AWE OF THE CALLBACK BUT NO
Usually these are ironic though??? His whole thing is about how he wants to go to space, though I suppose the irony of being killed with what you love always fits like it did with the others...
OH FUCK YOU AGAIN
I didn’t notice it until I looked at this still, but aren’t those the headmaster’s bones???
HE’S COUGHING THE WHOLE TIME.... FFF
I-Is he still alive at this point??? The headmaster was reduced to bones at some point during the trip, right???
!!!!!!
HE’S TRYING SO HARD TO CLING TO LIFE...
KAITO!!!
KAITO, YOU MADE IT!!!!
oh god he
he smiled... for just a moment....
Kaito, on his way to hell, at Monokuma: ╭∩╮(︶︿︶)╭∩╮
OH COOL HE DIED SMILING
I’M DEFINITELY NOT CRYING OR ANYTHING
He died amongst the stars....
Wait so does that mean they didn’t see any of this happen??? Or was it projected on a TV for them or something -
oh jeez -
WAIT HOLD ON WTF?!
OI NO COLLATERAL DAMAGE ALLOWED!!!
AHOGE DOWN, AHOGE DOWN?!?!
Despite the smiling, despite him finally reaching space, there ultimately isn’t any happiness be found in death. He never wanted to go out like this. :(
GOOD FUCK YOU MONOKUMA

DRV3 Mastermind! Boys Learning S/O is Semi-Immortal
Shuuichi Saihara
You were hanging out in his room just rambling on.
Saihara was half-listening, instead making up plans for the killing games when he heard something off.
“S/o, what do you mean you’re semi-immortal?” He watched your face go red.
“I- I said that?” He nodded as you took a breath. “I guess there’s no use in lying...” Saihara watched you run your hands through your hair.
You explained about it, but never the origins.
“Oh, that’s really interesting, s/o!” He smiled. “You could write a book about that.
You nervously laughed. Saihara started a discussion on where it could’ve come from. He wasn’t giving his true thoughts to it, however.
Now Saihara could stop all the protections he had gave you to survive in the killing game. Only a few could used. Perfect.
Rantarou Amami
Rantarou asked for your help set up a trap that would be later kill someone in the game. You were oblivious to both facts.
During a silent break, Rantarou looked worried.
So, you decided to ease him up with some talking.
“Rantarou, promise you can keep a secret?” He nodded. “I’m immortal.”
His expression was a surprised one. “Really?” You giggled.
“Well..semi. So I can die, it just takes a lot.”
“How do you know that, s/o?” He watched you ponder, then shrug. “Would you like to test it?” Rantarou’s voice carried a joking tone.
“Hell, no! I can still feel pain.” He smiled.
“I guess you have more capability in surviving this game than all of us!” Rantarou joked, watching your smile fall.
Kaito Momota
“Woah! That’s super cool, s/o! I can take you to space with me!”
You rubbed the back of your neck. “If we survive this.”
“We will! We’ll defeat that asshole of a mastermind and get out of here alive!”
His voice’s enthusiasm was hollow feeling.
“Hopefully the mastermind isn’t among us.”
Kaito looked at you and smiled. “Don’t worry, if he is, I’ll make sure that no one hurts you!”
“That was...oddly specific, Kaito.”
Kiibo
He had been tinkering with Monokuma when you came into his Lab.
When he heard the door opening, Kiibo quickly shoved it aside and closed the container it had fell in. “Kiibo!”
“Yes, s/o?” He turned around, face to face with you. He stumbled back a little.
“So, you know how we promised to never keep small secrets from each other?” You watched him nod as you drove your foot into the ground in small, tiny circles.
“W-Well...I’ve been keeping a secret from you this whole time.” His mouth opened slightly. “I-It’s not what you think!” Your hands moved in front of you sporadically. Kiibo grabbed them and held them in his hands.
“Go on, s/o. I’m not going to get mad. You had a good reason, I’m sure.”
You breathed in and out slowly.
“Kiibo, I’m semi-immortal. I never told you because I wasn’t sure if it was something I should tell anyone. They could’ve used that info against me but...”
You closed your eyes, then looked into Kiibo’s.
“I trust you.” He smiled warmly. “Just don’t tell anyone, ok?”
“I won’t.” But I will use it for my own intentions.
Kokichi Ouma
When he came back to everybody but you dead, he caught on quickly.
“How come out of all the survivors, my cute, little s/o has survived after 5 hours of non-stop torturing?”
He slammed a button, letting your weak body fall.
You struggled to stand up, but Kokichi grabbed your arm and helped you up.
“Care to tell me~?” His tone was malicious, but his face showed compassion.
“I-I...I’m semi-immortal, you jerk...!” You spat out blood as Kokichi cuddled you.
“Aww, you should’ve told me sooner! I wasn’t planning on killing you.”
He carried you to the Mastermind’s room. “You are the only person who trusted me after all. Let me get you patched up, s/o.”
Gonta Gokuhara
“S/o is semi-immortal?”
Nodding, you finish pressing the last of the butterflies. You held up the frame for Gonta to see.
“S/o did a great job!” You laughed, seeing his childlike appreciation for the work that you did.
“But...” He put it down beside him, looking into your eyes.
“What, Gonta?”
“Will it help you survive?” Your eyes fell.
“Probably.” Gonta hugged you.
“I’ll protect you, S/o! So don’t worry!” You two laughed, Gonta more nervously.
He had not one clue on how to protect his S/o from him and his killing game.
Ryoma Hoshi
It was the final trial.
“You can’t kill me because...”
He turned around from leaving. “Because?”
“I’m immortal!” Small gasps were heard from your classmates.
“A-And if you want to kill them, you have to kill me first!” Ryoma’s eyes met yours, a clash between cold and hot.
“I see. So if I find a way to get rid of your immortality, you all can die?”
“Yes.” He snickered.
“Alright, c’mon S/o.” You stumbled, feeling your legs lock with every step.
A choking silence filled the room until you reached Ryoma.
“It’s just like you to give your life to save others.”
You plummeted into a small, dark box. A loud slamming was heard from above.
Gulping, you heard Ryoma’s voice just barely.
“No living creature can live without food.”
He saw through your terrible lie that was only halfway true.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
“So you’re a living demigod.”
His eyes were infatuated with you from this fact.
“Y-Yeah.” You shuffled uncomfortably. “Korekiyo, why were you talking to Monokuma?”
“I was asking him to replenish the tea stock for us, s/o.”
You took a deep breath, trying to confront him in the best way possible.
“Korekiyo, you were talking about who was going to kill next and their execution.”
“Oh...? What are you suggesting?”
“You’re the mastermind, aren’t you?”
He chuckled. “Yes.” Korekiyo took your hands and held them in his.
“It was to witness the beauty of humanity.” You jerked back, but he held your hands tighter, pulling to lay your head on his chest.
He covered your mouth with his hand.
“Now what would be a good execution for you, s/o? I want to see a new side of beauty to you.
“After all, it will have to be fitting to a beautiful demigod.”
