i cant sleep so here’s a snippet of an au i’m working on.

reader is dead/undead. a spirit. jing yuan is 30+, a college professor :3 reader died in mid twenties.mimi is alive and well.

You don’t remember how you’ve died. It’s been a few years; everything was fine that day. Sunny and warm. Now you watch as a man with silver hair and a white cat fills your space, conquering it and desecrating the warm home you’ve carved out of the cold steel and apathetic city.

You write messages on the steam of bathroom mirrors, grease of the (new) electric stove, dust on the shelves and splattered water droplets. The cat hisses whenever you’re nearby. The man smiles kindly, gently as he reads the messages, not seeming perturbed or angry with the development.

“A roommate.,” he chuckles, “the company is welcome of course. I am intruding on your home.”

At least he had the decency to admit it!

“LEAVE.” you write on the grease of the stove. You despise that man.

“wear a jacket. it’s cold.” you wrote, hovering around as he grades papers.

“i will, i will,” he smiles kindly, and you almost smile back, “thank you.”

“welcome.” you write.

i had this idea from a dream i had where jing yuan was a ghost and i was in his place, but then i was a ghost and he moved in.

i’m seeing a lot of hanfu with western elements… and thought it would be cool for my persona/main oc

was also doing a small color analysis, bc i tend to make messy palettes (next to my oc is jing yuan’s color palette. he only uses abt 6 colors—counting the gold accents and discounting shading and rendering—i used it as a point of reference bc i noticed he has one color that’s a “direct” compliment to another as an accent. the red and teal i mean)
