Pattaya's Koh Larn is LOCKED DOWN for 15 -DAYS

The famous Koh Lan in Chonburi will be closed to tourists from May 5 to 20 in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Koh Lan community announced on Monday.

The community has also announced the following measures: ▪︎ Hotel and resort operators are required to ensure guests leave the island on May 4 and no bookings are taken until the situation is resolved. Tourists with Covid-19 symptoms are required to inform the authorities immediately. ▪︎ Residents are not allowed to leave the island unless absolutely necessary, while outsiders wanting to enter the island must seek permission from the Covid-19 administration centre at the pier. ▪︎ Every individual on the island must monitor their symptoms, and those with cough, fever or sore throat must contact the community's medical centre via (038) 434 144. ▪︎ Residents must avoid gatherings or outdoor activities unless absolutely necessary. ▪︎ Hawkers and stall operators from Pattaya City are not allowed to enter the island, though mail and goods can be dropped off at the pier. ▪︎ Speed boat operators have been told to suspend services, with people required to seek permission from the Covid-19 administration centre if they wish to use one. Koh Larn - Coral Island - Pattaya

Just off Pattaya in the Gulf of Thailand is Koh Larn, also known as Coral Island. Measuring four kilometers long and two kilometers wide, the island boasts beautiful beaches with clear waters and a hilly, forested interior.

At just seven kilometers off the coast of Pattaya, Koh Larn is a popular day trip. Koh Larn has 6 main beaches.

Tawaen’s long sandy beach is Koh Larn’s most popular destination. 

Samae sandy beach is over 500 meters long, the waters are clear. 

Slightly shorter than Samae and Tawaen, Tien beach boasts a beautiful sandy beach lined with palm trees and great views of Koh Larn island’s forested interior behind it.

You can get Coral Island by Speedboat or Ferry.

The quickest way to get to Coral Island is by speedboat.  The speed boat trip takes about 20 minutes from Pattaya. Rates are 1,500 to 2,500 Baht depending on the size of the boat.

A little slower but much cheaper is the Ferry.  There is one to Na Ban pier and one to Tawaen beach pier on the other side of the island. Both take about 45 minutes and depart from Bali Hai pier at the South end of Pattaya walking street. The fare is 30 Baht one way.  

At Coral Island different water sports are available including Snorkeling, Para Sailing, Water Scooter, Banana boat ride, Undersea Walk etc.

We couldn't get hold of fins but that was OK today, still managed to get rather far out in the ocean.
