Koh Larn - Coral Island - Pattaya

Just off Pattaya in the Gulf of Thailand is Koh Larn, also known as Coral Island. Measuring four kilometers long and two kilometers wide, the island boasts beautiful beaches with clear waters and a hilly, forested interior.

At just seven kilometers off the coast of Pattaya, Koh Larn is a popular day trip. Koh Larn has 6 main beaches.

Tawaen’s long sandy beach is Koh Larn’s most popular destination. 

Samae sandy beach is over 500 meters long, the waters are clear. 

Slightly shorter than Samae and Tawaen, Tien beach boasts a beautiful sandy beach lined with palm trees and great views of Koh Larn island’s forested interior behind it.

You can get Coral Island by Speedboat or Ferry.

The quickest way to get to Coral Island is by speedboat.  The speed boat trip takes about 20 minutes from Pattaya. Rates are 1,500 to 2,500 Baht depending on the size of the boat.

A little slower but much cheaper is the Ferry.  There is one to Na Ban pier and one to Tawaen beach pier on the other side of the island. Both take about 45 minutes and depart from Bali Hai pier at the South end of Pattaya walking street. The fare is 30 Baht one way.  

At Coral Island different water sports are available including Snorkeling, Para Sailing, Water Scooter, Banana boat ride, Undersea Walk etc.

  STADSNIEUWS | VOLGENS DE TESSAKIT POLITIE VAN PATTAYA WAGEN IEDERE DAG TUSSEN DE 5000 EN DE 8000 CHINESE TOERISTEN DE OVERSTEEK NAAR KOH LARN PATTAYA:- Vorige week plaatste uw nieuwsbeer de bevindingen van het Pattaya City Law Enforcement die de handen vol had met het helpen van chineze toeristen om de Beach Road van Pattaya over te steken en op de strand nog eens een handje moest toesteken bij de organisatie. Ze merkten 4.990 toeristen door een reisgroep werden begeleid naar speedboten die in het water bij het strand stonden te wachten. Nog afgezien van de toeristen die zelfstandig een speedboot huurde. De Tessakit politie liet het afgelopen weekend weten dat ruim de helft meer van hun schatting de oversteek naar Koh Larn maakte, namelijk tegen de 8000 Chinese toeristen en daarbij niet eens de andere toeristen bij opgeteld evenals het aantal toeristen dat wel de aangewezen haven, de Bali Hai daarvoor gebruikte. Toen het artikel vorige week in de Pattiaanse kranten verscheen, trok het direct de aandacht van de Thaise criticasters op sociaal media, die zich afvroegen waar het mogelijk was, dat er zoveel toeristen van het strand werden meegenomen, terwijl er nauwelijks een jaar geleden met veel bombarie door de Tessakit politie werd verkondigd dat er alléén vanaf de pier toeristen mochten afvaren en aankomen. De verhuurders van speedboten reageerden weer op hun beurt door te vertellen dat dit logistiek gezien onmogelijk is en Bali Hai Pier gewoon niet klaar of groot genoeg is om het aantal boten of toeristen aan te kunnen. Wel bestaan er verschillende plannen als onderdeel van het Eastern Economic Corridor-project, er om de pier flink uit te breiden voor zover mogelijk.
