When I finished this scarf two years ago I made a mistake and knit it one pattern repeat shorter than it should have been.

Finally decided to add that missing repeat and just make the scarf longer. I had an extra ball of yarn anyway.

I cut one stitch in the middle of a row and unpicked it both ways, knit on two repeats and grafted it back together. Then I found out I'd remembered the pattern wrong and had knit all sections with 7 DR, instead of 7 DR on the long bits and 5 DR on the short bits. Had to ungraft, rip back, reknit and regraft the scarf and finally knit the two new insertions.

Now I can wrap the scarf around once!

Thing I learned: the notes app on my phone has the ability to scan a photo for text and convert it to text in a note - that I can copy and paste!!! Omg - so awesome! Hand writing knitting instruction shorthand is so much EASIER than trying to type that out.

And then I did some knitting math and reminded myself how to subtract … the super large numbers of 22 and 14. 22 - 14 = 8 🤩

All to figure out how many inches of color transition and solid color sections for the rest of the sweater body.

I have never knitted anything more complex than a simple scarf, and never used a knitting pattern in my life, but I am determined to learn more cool things. I have found a recipe for pretty braided gloves, I have read it, I understand it, and I am prepared to make the gloves.

the halibut sweater is done !!

i really enjoyed this pattern. the only other colorwork ive ever done came out terribly but i took this one much more seriously and theres no puckering or visible floats anywhere. once i got the hand of working with 2 strands it was actually quite fun. i dont usually wear yoked sweaters but i really like how this one fits

i used the italian cast on and bind off. mock neck. switched the w&t for german short rows cause i prefer how they look. also skipped the decreases along the sleeves and did all of them before the cuff and im very glad cause the sleeves dont have much ease if knitted as per the pattern. which i dont like at all

did a size up from my usual cause my gauge was tight and knitted until the lenghts recommended in the pattern. it comes right at my hips and its slightly loose but fitting after blocking

also i used rowan felted tweed and for the its price i was expecting much better yarn. its scratchy and sheds a Lot. it does have a good grip so it works well for colorwork and it is very warm the mock neck honestly works as a scarf you cant feel a breeze

happy with the results overall i might knit another one at some point

redid the heel. it fits now! mostly. its honestly still a smidge too long, but its not enough to bother redoing the whole heel again. i hope this heel will fit me well, it looks like its a square heel, which i've never tried before. its also a questionable length... seems to be 2.5 inches, which is how long i knit my heel flaps, but we will see how i like the fit when the socks are done! which should be soon enough, now.

i just have to knit the leg until its as tall as i want and then start the leg cable pattern. not a very difficult sock all things considered. the most difficult part was getting the size right, because following the pattern exactly did NOT get me a fit i enjoyed lol
