Made my very own tiny dungeon meshi dragon plush, that’s based on the version that only appears in the very last chapter for five pages and then is never seen again. I think it turned out pretty well.

I used this pattern to make it with some minor tweaks to the body, tails and legs and then just made some tiny cones for the horns at the end. If anyone would be intersted I might post the alterations and where to apply them but go check out the original pattern! I stuffed it both with acylic stuffing but also some plastic pellets for a bit of extra weight. The eyes are done with french knots.

Going to be adding manga spoilers below the read more with pictures of what I tried to get it to look like.

When you start knitting stuffed animals (or anything for that matter), it’s inevitable that there are gonna be some mistakes. Luckily, I've made a ton of these mistakes for you, and now can pass on my knowledge to you.

Common Stuffie Knitting Mistakes

01 - faces and embroidery: Probably the hardest part of making stuffed animals by hand is getting the face right. Don’t be afraid to take out the face and start again if you don’t get it right the first time. It’s shockingly easy to end up with a stuffie that looks sad or upset for some reason, but it’s just as easy to take it out and get them looking happy and ready to be cuddled.

02 - stuffing and polyfill: The best way to avoid lumpy plushies is to stuff with small pieces of polyfill at a time. That way you can shape as you go. You also want to stuff pretty densely. Over time, stuffing will compress and the stuffed animal will feel thinner than how it did when you first filled it. If you don’t stuff tightly, your stuffed animal may end up feeling a little limp later on.

03 - row gauge: Row gauge is just as important as stitch gauge. Sometimes with other projects you can fudge the row gauge a little bit and it’ll be okay. With stuffed animals, the ratio between the row gauge and the stitch gauge determines the shape of your animal, and if your row gauge is off, you can end up with a stuffie that’s weirdly stretched or kind of squished looking.

04 - seaming: The most important bit is to leave a long tail when you cast on or bind off, so you’re not fighting with a short thread while piecing things together. You’ll also want to seam things in the right order. It’s much harder to line the head up straight with the limbs than it is to line up the limbs with the head. If you want to avoid having your stuffie looking to one side, seam the limbs on after you’ve done the head. Trust me.

I know a lot of people think Athena was a lot harsher with child-odysseus than she's being with Telemachus but what if she isn't?

What if ,when odysseus trained under her, she was once soft and gentle with him too. She praises him and ruffles his hair and lets him lay his head in his lap when he gets tired and tells his parents they should be proud of him when they reach the palace after she walks him home. To award his progress, she bakes him carrot cake and knits owl plushies for him that even into his 20s he still sleeps with for they remind him of his mentor.

(Only because he's fragile. Only to motivate him. yes she's totally not getting attached to. Attachments and emotions are for the weak. He is only my mentee.)

She doesn't know how much she is tricking herself.

That changes with the trojan war. She sees an opportunity to gain glory, to be known. Her unknown attachment is overridden by her ambition.

With that she truly starts seeing odysseus as just her mentee. no. less. Her weapon to deliver on the trojans for slighting her. Her little warrior.

She becomes harsher and sterner on him pressuring him into remaining the perfect general.

(Does she know? Does she know how he cannot sleep? How the horrific war crimes he committed under her influence keep him up at night?)

The war ends. He spares a cyclops. She is *enraged*

How dare he? How dare he scorn her teachings, she who gave him glory?

(But what's a title that a goddess can lend, if he'll never sleep at night?)

That night she attempts to sleep. And the next. And the next. A horrible, guilty feeling swirls in her stomach and keeps her up, gruesome images of what may be happening to odysseus play in her mind along with those of a bright eyed boy she can't help but feel she failed.

After a few years, she goes through this problem logically.

Why do I feel so guilty about him? Why do I want to run back and fix things?

Ah, I must have gotten much more attached than I thought.

Ok. Now i know the problem, I can apply the solution.

Forget him. Emotion and guilt are for the soft. To remain strong, I can't let these feelings get to me.

Then, she remembers something.

What got odysseus through all those years at troy? Through the guilt and blood?

Penelope.

Telemachus.

He was never fighting for her.

He was fighting for them.

They were his strength.

His love for them were his strength.

Maybe, my love can me mine?

Maybe, my attachment to him isn't so bad ?

Maybe, it isn't so weakening.

Yes.

Who would have thought that a goddess of wisdom would be taught wisdom from a mere mortal?
