Went to the Frederick Fiber Fest today and picked up a couple of skeins of 29 Bridges Studio's new Linen Wool Single base in Inia and Truffle colorways. Also picked up a skein of Marianated Yarns' Scrumptious HT base in the colorway Scoundrel.

He honestly doesn’t notice at first.He doesn’t really look at peoples hands.He prefers keeping eye contact with is S/O so whenever they are talking they know he is listening.It isn’t until he watches S/O count on their fingers that he realises.

He then takes a closer look and then the puns and the jokes begin.

He noticed your hand’s quite early on into the relationship.He is a massive hand holder. He doesn’t say anything.He isn’t a Rude skeleton! That is until he forgets (as the busy always moving skeleton he is) and got S/O some gloves as one of their birthday pressies.He then remembers just as S/O is opening the pressie and it’s to late.He was embarrassed for a good few hours.

Once S/O explained what happen and why they have a few less fingers he just goes,

He might of called S/O a ninja turtle at one point.

It takes him an embarrassingly long amount of time for him to realise that S/O is missing a few fingers.We are talking like a year into the relationship.They way he found out was that him and S/O we’re cuddling,S/O rubbing their hand over his skull, Then he feels it.His eye sockets widen.Wait….A hand is not shaped like that.He definitely pretends that he always knew.And doesn’t bring it up.

He was a bit wary with S/O in the kitchen for bit before he realises that S/O has probably had this their whole life and knows what they are doing.

He doesn’t notice.Similar to Red he believes his S/Os hands are just hands they give pets and cuddle him the same way.Plus if it was the result of an accident he doesn’t want to bring it up because he doesn’t want his S/O to be overwhelmed by the memory of it.

He does this cute thing where when he counts he misses the fingers S/O doesn’t have on his hand.Coping what his S/O does.

Squad leader: The food he makes is absolutely amazing, very good and very healthy. He does not compromise on his nutrition as it's important to him. 10/10 he only eats outside if he's lazy to cook

2145: He does not care at all for how good, healthy or appealing his food is. It's whatever. He would eat a raw egg whole for breakfast, he would ask you if you want one too. Worst case scenario 2/10 best case scenario 5/10

IM1235: Decent, she could make a meal and it would be pretty good. As a red blood cell her sweetness tolerance is higher than most, so her dishes are probably very sweet. 8/10 kinda dishes if you don't mind the glucose

Reg T: Doesn't cook a lot but she probably wouldn't mess up if you gave her a recipe. She doesn't really know what to add to a dish to make it any better or what to avoid so it doesn't become worse. 6/10 at least it's edible and you won't hate it too much

HT: His taste for food is insane. He can make food that he enjoys but if you tried it you would question everything you know about him. 2/10 order your own food than rely on him.

B Cell: Surprisingly good, he would get infinitely more maidens if he were to show them his cooking skills rather than invite them to parties or the like, he can do both baking and cooking, very good for him. 8/10 in general

Memory Cell: I'd imagine he was the one who taught B cell his skills, prefers bitter tastes over sweet ones, 7-9/10 depending on how similar your taste is to his

Mast Cell: Terrible. He can only do cup noodles. All his effort goes into Cellor-sun, not self preservation. 1/10 if you were to make him make an actual dish.

Eosinophil: I like to imagine she can bake pretty well, but her cooking is more or less average. Baking 10/10 cooking 6/10

NK: She is prepared for every scenario her little head can think of, taught herself cooking because what if she gets stranded and lost out in the wilderness?! 7/10 She will not risk herself dying from food poisoning

Dendritic Cell: Surprisingly horrendous. You do not expect a sweet guy who has good sewing and knitting skills be this bad at cooking, so it makes it all the more worse. 0/10 always eats with his colleagues who can cook or goes outside to eat.

M cell: A bartender who sells food on the regular definitely knows how to do it. Maybe his depression dampened his skills but it's very good, the bad reviews on his shop never mention the cooking, only his personality after all. 10/10 KT is on par with him which is why he only asks KT to help him at the bar sometimes.

3033: If you gave him the recipe, he'd find a way to mess up something (he doesn't even know how it goes wrong). He gets frustrated at it so he doesn't do it that much, at least he can make instant noodles with a few extra bits here and there. 3/10, he wishes he could do something about it.

Cross: Surprisingly very good. Maybe it's a hobby of his, maybe it's just him trying to imitate his squad leader, who knows. Good at improvising with ingredients, especially since the budget at the T cell station is so limited, he has to make whatever work. 9/10 he could somehow make bacteria taste decent

The Vampire Diaries, Ep. 1x10

The Turning Point

this is a somewhat boring name for an episode, but it gains some meaning when you do a quick peruse of air dates and learn that this is the last episode before the mid-season break! is what i would say if this were a normal american tv show, but i must instead say that this is the last episode before the first mid-season break because there are two.

we start this episode very excitingly! it's melissa mccill! i love melissa mccill! she's the best character in teen wolf! she has the best track record of episode mvp awards of any character! i wonder how many episodes she'll appear in because i think she's amazing! oh... she's dead.

then, damon makes a quip about trying out for the amazing race. to which i say, 'i would pay good money to see them do the amazing race.' unfortunately, this turn of events seems unlikely. anyway, the brothers are blocked from the amazing race by learning that there's another vampire in town. (which they know because my beloved melissa mccall has been killed.)

damon finds out where fucking newsboy is (by coercing caroline into helping) and then goes to confront him. luckily, he gets shot like ten times by wooden bullets! it was a very cathartic moment for me because i hate damon. i wrote 'hell yeah!' in my notes. with the exclamation point.

after damon and fucking newsboy's confrontation, we learn about the main plot of the episode: career day! this is a classic vampire situation! what's my line from season two of buffy is a wonderful two-parter! i'm so excited!

unfortunately, we are not delving into the true power of career day on a vampire show, but we do get to hear stefan talk about his past, where he's apparently earned many many degrees, in a variety of subjects. elena used to want to be a writer, but since hasn't felt the same since her mom died. to borrow a line from a different (better) vampire show, 'when i look into the future, all i see is you.' (buffy summers to angel, buffy the vampire slayer 2x12 bad eggs)

back at the school, fucking newsboy takes caroline home, proving that she is a vampire magnet. (obviously, he's just trying to get a rise out of her mother.) also, fuck face is back. we spend some time with the mayor for the first time and learn that the mayor is a piece of shit. this means that both fuck face's parents are horrible, and it makes me feel a bit bad for calling him fuck face. not bad enough to stop, obviously. then, it is heavily implied that fuck face is a werewolf. which would make me very excited. and also make me stop calling him fuck face.

then, elena has her best moment yet: 'you don't get to make that decision for me. if you walk away, it's for you, because i know what i want. stefan, i love you.' elena has stepped up to the plate. she's making a decision, finally! she is claiming her agency, sticking to her guns, taking a stand. i have been begging for this since the show began, and it's finally here. of course, the thing she is standing for is her right to date stefan, not literally anything else. but, beggars can't be choosers.

after elena's big moment, she goes into stefan's house with him, and it becomes clear that they are going to have sex. then, there's another what's my line scene! stefan starts to vamp out and turns away. elena pulls him back to her because she's not afraid of his vampire nature and she truly loves him. awwwww

after they have sex, elena finds the picture of katherine that has been sitting on stefan's table the entire time (because he's a creep.) she takes off the necklace (bad move) and runs out of the house to her car. then, she drives away until she runs into a dark figure on a country road and flips the car. then, she hangs there, watching as the figure's bones knit back together and it stands again. that's a vampire. hard cut.

before i'm done with this episode, i have to talk about ht (history teacher [alaric saltzmann]). he kills fucking newsboy, who doesn't recognize him, throwing confusion on my theory from last episode. fucking newsboy has clearly met his sire, who told him about the vampires in the vault. he wouldn't know that katherine's down there unless he heard from a vampire, right? but he didn't recognize ht. i am feeling very confused about this whole thing.

I got the buttons at ht like everything else, but fjaondna bought me the enamel pins at a kiosk (for three bucks apiece!!!! a great deal!)

Unfortunately, ht didn't have any gf merch, but they did have the gf-coded pins so I left happy

Enamel pins-wise, I got the Sailor Pokeball wand because it was the kind of thing that was for everyone and no one simultaneously. The other two, I got to was obligated to get because I mentioned gf in front of fjaondna and the (super-awesome) kiosk girl.

Im pretty sure Paps would implode if his S/O got him anything for Valentines.

Oh!A key thing to remember is that Paps is allergic to vanilla so best avoid gifts that have that!

Another classic man! But for a date he would take S/O to a fair ground! Winning you prizes, going on a ferris wheel,kissing when it gets to the top.

Best not to let him anywhere near the Kitchen unless you want a burnt breakfast in bed then it’s best to keep him away (How on earth did he burn juice?!?!).

He did ,however, make a wonderful card for you. It does have enough glitter to make the whole house covered but it’s the thought that counts!

He just wants to spend all day and night cuddling, spoiling his S/O and watching anime/movies. Now that’s romantic.If you have to go out ,expect those characters valentines cards being sent to you 24/7.(You know the ones>:) )

I think a better way to word this is ‘romance’/‘having a crush’, rather than ‘love/being in love’.

I understand the point, which is the prospect of Robby or Mo developing a crush, and it being experienced by the Terrans, etc.

However, there are multiple kinds of love/attraction, and the Terrans already have experienced some of those different types of love. Being familial, and platonic, and I dare say they’ve also experienced emotional attraction.

They’re obviously all siblings, and they consider Dot and Alex their parents, and know they love each other. They passively experience familial love daily, like any close knit/loving family.

And it’s obvious to a degree, during Swindle’s EP, Thrash seemed to have to some amount at first experienced emotional attraction, and became attached and trusted him in some amount.

During the Wheeljack EP, Twitch was obviously experiencing emotional attraction, got attached, and definitely trusted him, and quite possibly a squish/platonic attraction. She really wanted to be his friend.

In JB and HT’s starring EPs, we saw they have fairly strong relationships with their siblings, and definitely love, care, and trust their parents a lot.

During Tarantulas’s EP, Nightshade clearly experienced very similar to Twitch, just with Tarantulas instead of Wheeljack.

During EP 18, all that familial/sibling love was directly emphasized onto Hashtag to help her.

The Terrans have experienced love. What they haven’t experienced, is a crush, romance, romantic attraction, sexual attraction, etc. which are different forms/types of attraction/love.

I understand that it may be ill wording, and trying to get a different message across, but as an AroAce, I find it a little shallow to imply that romance is the only type of love, when that’s really not the case, and this actually just a really allonormative idea.

I apologize if I’m wrong, and I have the incorrect idea. I just felt a strong urge to point that out, as it quite bothered me.

Will the Terrans know what love is?

Taking into account that the Terrans and the children share an emotional bond. How will the Terrans react when the children feel love?

Throughout the season, we've seen children Robby and Mo experience various emotions that are unknown to Terrans.

An example is the school chapter where Robby and Mo start school. Twitch and Trash tell Bumblebee that lately they are experiencing emotions they don't know about, this is caused by children.

Now, my doubt is the reaction that the Terrans would have when the children fall in love. In this case I see it more likely from Robby, that he falls in love with someone at school.

At some point Robby will fall in love and although he doesn't want to admit it, his emotions will be reflected in the Terrans. As we well know, Robby is going through puberty as he often tells his family that he no longer plays childish things.

Terrans will not know why they experience these emotions. If you ask Robby he will deny it, while Mo would not understand what they are talking about.

At some point Robby will confess that he is in love with someone. Although his family is excited by this news, the Terrans will continue to be confused by what they ask about "love".

The Maltos give them a brief explanation about love. The Terrans will ask Bumblebee if the transformers feel the same when they are in love.

Bumblebee wouldn't know how to answer them since it's not something common in his species. He is aware that there are couples between transformers but he is unaware of those emotions. Terrans would wonder if they felt love for someone.

Hashtag seems to be the only one who knows this topic of love thanks to her knowledge acquired on the internet.

Robby's crush would complicate his life since he is now aware that his emotions will be reflected in the Terrans and this will probably affect him in the long run.

Savory Barley Rosemary Soup

My rosemary looks more like a bonsai version than a full size woody stemmed plant going to shrub just from snipping off the odd sprig to add as seasoning to whatever new dish I’m cooking that day.  It was twice that size last summer.  Here is an easy to fix barley soup with just a hint of rosemary to flavor along with parsnips, mushrooms, and wiltable greens.  See what you think...

2 c. barley, dried

6 c. vegetable broth

2 c. water

1 t. salt

1 t. pepper

1 sprig rosemary

oil

2 c. celery, sliced thin

1 c. parsnip, grated coarsely

2 lg. leeks, sliced into rings

2 t. garlic

1 bunch wiltable greens - spinach/kale/chard - diced

1 c. mushrooms, sliced

In a large soup pot, add barley, vegetable broth, water, salt, pepper, and rosemary.  Cover and bring to a boil then turn down to simmer.  While that’s cooking, saute celery, parsnip, leeks, and garlic in oil.  Add vegetables to barley gathering, add greens and mushrooms.  Cover and simmer 30 min. until barley is tender.  Grab a ladle and deep soup bowl - get ready to enjoy a hearty savory meal.
