Artorias being the ONE person that Ciaran ever opens up her cold heart to fully, the ONE person she decides she could trust with her cynical soul.

The years of their companionship finally hitting her and making her realize she loves him more than herself. More than anyone alive. She wants to BE with him, STAY with him, cherish and protect him….he is the only one she would be willing to abandon her duty to Gwyn’s kingdom for if he asked.

But as a seemingly emotionless assassin, a professional….she hides these feelings a little too long. She admits to them a little too late.

By the time she does, Artorias has a mission to complete. He doesn’t believe he can cast it aside or choose anything else besides it. The Abyss cannot spread. He cannot allow it, and he willingly smothers whatever love he could have returned to Ciaran. He leaves her and chooses duty, the same way she vowed to do for years and the same way she succeeded in doing for years.

And Ciaran is cruelly reminded of why she held to those vows for so long when Artorias does not return.

Digital painting - Procreate & Photoshop

In August last year a Dark Souls group artshow event was held in my city. I was one of the lucky artists asked to be involved. It was such an amazing turnout, some incredible artists from Europe, US, India and Australia. I had this piece printed on a metal hanging print.

Paintings large and small covered the walls while patrons had dark souls games playing around the venue, had a dark synth dj, a firelink shrine photo booth and some really nice themed food and drinks. Definitely a highlight of my 2023.
