Jedediah Crane was born in 1840 in modern day Arkansas. He grew up in the era of the Oregon Trail, dreaming of one day traveling this route himself further west. Instead he found himself still stuck in the same spot in the mid 1860's as the Wild West era took off, and began working as a gun for hire and bounty hunter. During this time he had an encounter with a cryptid in the area, which shifted his limited worldview to try and encompass things beyond his understanding.

Shortly after the incident with the cryptid, during a raid in 1867 he was bitten and turned into a vampire. With the vampire that turned him killed in the ensuing fight and nowhere else to go, Jedediah found himself going back to talk with the cryptid he had encountered. It was quickly clear the cryptid didn't speak english, but there at least was an established understanding between the non-humans that helped Jedediah to cope with his new situation.

After spending years on the fringes of human society Jedediah decided it was time to find somewhere new, and in 1895 began traveling east to the Appalachian mountains. Here he lived in the forest and amongst the mining towns in the area, until he heard of the Appalachian trail that was being built in the area. He began traveling up and down the eastern coast along this trail, meeting strangers from all over and learning their stories. Through this he stayed connected with human society, though still from a distance.

While living along the Appalachian trail he began to hear stories of an organization called Spectre Corps through the 90's, and while curious, didn't give much thought to it until meeting a trail partner named Honeybee. After spending months traveling together and having a heart-to-heart, he decided it was time to stop hiding and at least make an attempt to reconnect with society. And considering SC is known for working with the occult, he figures that's a good place to start. After getting in contact with an American branch of SC and a life-changing plane ride across the ocean, Jedediah Crane is now an employee of SC.
