Officially getting knee surgery done on the 15th the doctors said I can get the same one done on my left knee the next time it gets injured so both knees will be protected.

There gonna do the less invasive surgery where they add more ligaments to my knee, instead of cutting off part of my bone and pulling my knee caps down.

I’m so nervous, I’ve never had a surgery this intense before. I’m hoping healing will go well

Im 7 weeks post partial knee replacement. Honestly this journey has been more mentally taxing than i ever expected. This was my third knee surgery so physically and mentally (my ocd is MAD) i knew what to expect. What i never expected was the sense of doom and rawness i feel about it. Its the finality of it, there is no more false hope of it “getting better”, this is it for my knee, half of it is gone, eventually all of it will be. The surgery worked, dont get me wrong, my knee feels the best its felt in like 10 years. But boy shes messy, and my patellafemoral joint is also now down to bone, and my ACL graft is stretched AND BRO Im 34 in 6 days, like this is my knee for a looonngg time.

I'm Back, Bitches!

Life has been haaard...two knee replacement surgeries in February and a month ago! No cartilage in my knees. Thanks, hereditary arthritis! I haven't been able to sit at my desk.

It was pretty sweet for a while, sitting with my leg elevated and iced. Being only able to watch streaming shows and read my phone. But the second time around..

For some reason, my second recovery is more difficult. The conduit between my brain and lower body is worse than ever, and I've had to use a fucking WALKER! PT is a bitch. I rewatched "Swiss Army Man" up to the part where Hank passes out after the bear attack. I just can't watch the last part. It fucked me up all over again. But seeing my beloved Paul Dano was worth it.

Real life absolutely blows chunks. The Supreme Court, the election, every damn day nothing but bad news.

HOWEVER, both Britain and France resisted fascism, so maybe there's hope for us.

Six month update for posterity!

So, uh. Wow. This side of six months doesn't seem nearly as bad as six weeks did.

I'm back to biking and swimming, full range of motion, still a little weaker than it should be, but some of that is my pre-op timeline and some of it is my less-than-100% compliance with my HEP.

(It gets old. It really does. It's a mental game and I'm working on it, but the brain is the hardest body part to fix.)

My last follow up appointment was yesterday. I... may have forgotten that I have a grade 3 chondral defect on my patella. Like, completely.

So even though I still have some residual pain with single leg squats, I chalked it up to a strength issue and didn't mention it to the surgeon, which I sort of regret.

On the other hand, any cartilage repair procedures would be another 12-18 months recovery and I am SO not ready to chase that route.

Thus, celebrating my current victories, my clearance for any and all activities as tolerated, and I'll cross the cartilage bridge when I get there.

Well, I have a matched set of knees now, both arthricsopically patched up. My goal is to be able to dance at my daughters wedding in October. Norco is making me itch all over 😬 But I can't do without it, nerve pain flareup has my leg from hip to foot on fire with pain. So thankful for pain meds, except for the constipation. Havn't slept much since Thursday night. Thats the latest, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
