Random headcanon I just thought of for Jay cuz I can't be stopped

He's known for rambling a LOT when he's anxious and since he's usually always anxious we see it a lot. but he also has another layer to his anxious state that he rarely gets to but when he does it's grounds for worry.

Going mute

The others don't know exactly what causes him to completely silent but everytime it happens it scares them

Cuz he'll go hours or even days without saying a single word

They r used to him being loud and larger than life with his voice so to have him go from that, to deadly silent is extremely concerning and kind of scary for thdm

It doesn't happen often, luckily but they have found that just being there for him, cuddles and comfort helps alot as he has said multiple times before

Tho they do fear the possibility that one day he'll go silent and never speak again.

PIXAL and Jay's friendship is so underrated imo. Folks either don't have them interact at all or if they do its PIXAL expressing annoyance at Jay and seeing him as incompetent and VERY little else

I think there's so much potential there beyond PIXAL just seeing Jay as an annoyance and a dumbass

Like cmon they are two capable inventors and you mean to tell me that nobody can think of any scenarios where they would bonding really well?

Imagine PIXAL being one of the only to notice Jay stopped inventing and wondering why cuz she considers him a very capable inventor

I could easily see PIXAL trying to encourage Jay to invent again too

I can easily see them having many conversations about mechanics n whatnot. Going long hours of the day just talking and brainstorming new ideas and just geeking out in general

Jay going all mad scientist with his ideas and PIXAL bearing witness to the absolutely bonker inventions he makes and wondering howww they are still alive

Jay helping PIXAL be more wild with her ideas and how she makes them while PIXAL helps Jay reign in his crazy

Together they make the coolest shit

Nya has no fucking clue how to flirt cuz she's never had to put In effort to impress anyone like that before

Jay was smitten with her upon first meeting her so she really didn't need to do much of anything to impress him

And its a problem now cuz her yin has no memories of her and all her flirting skills are doing is weirding him out and pushing him further away

She is becoming acutely aware she has no idea what she's doing and it's both cringe and funny to witness

Jay who's now trying to find his place In the world but may end up spiraling so far down a ditch he may never get out

Jay who is so terrified of being alone and now he's out there, more alone now than he has ever been before

Jay and Lloyd's relationship is so sad cuz out of all the ninja they feel the LEAST close

I feel like when Lloyd was a child they were really close playing pranks, video games and reading comics with Jay introducing Lloyd to more.

But once Lloyd got older they started drifting apart extremely fast

Lloyd darted taking in more responsibility and seeking the others out for things that Jay just..couldn't aid with

Why go to them for comfort when Nya or Kai are right there?

Why go to them for leadership advice when Cole is literally right there, their previous leader

Why go to them for building things when Nya, PIXAL and Zane are all right there who are simply better at it than them?

All they really had was their bond for comics but then Kai got into them

Then Lloyd started to go to him instead to talk about them

And it stings yea. Like a LOT

Jay really feels like they don't really contribute to the team but this just...hurts a lil too much

To know that there's a canyon wide gap in between them

But what CAN they do? What comfort or company can Jay provide to Lloyd that the others can't?

So they accepted the drift

What else can they do but to?

Ed n Edna would have adopted Lloyd in a heartbeat if they had found him before the show started I'm right and you're all wrong

They would be such good parents for him man but Lloyd would likely be overwhelmed at first LOL

Going from having no parents looking after you to having two very loving and dotting parents would be jarring and he wouldn't know how to handle it

Meanwhile u have Jay who would be annoyed as shit at first having this random little kid here disturbing his peace having to share his room with(i mean going from being an only kid with ur own room ti having to share it with a random new child would definitely be annoying), but at the same time he kinda likes it cuz with Lloyd around and needing more care than him his parents aren't as overwhelming and suffocating to him anymore (not to say they neglect him, I would never suggest the amazing Ed n Edna would do such a thing)

Lloyd would have no trust in them at first and would be very reserved believe that they want something from him in exchange of giving him a place to sleep and food

(Doesn't help that Jay is being cold to him in the beginning)

So he woudl be doing what he usually does to push folks away, be annoying as shit and cause problems. He's certain that all these problems he's pulling will eventually cause Ed n Eda to drop the "masks" he's convinced they have and reveal what they want,

But it never happens.

They never snap at him, or yell at him, or hit him. The most they do is lightly scold him heck they more often scold Jay who tends to be the one getting angry at him

Despite all lthe trouble he causes they never withhold food, or threaten him. They still treat him with the same level of kindness they had since the beginning and he doesn't know how to handle it.

Is this really real?

Do they really care this much about him?

The thing that finally had Lloyd accept all this was real and that they do want him was the day Edna gave him Mr. Greenbean

A little green stuffed Pig that Edna made herself to go along with Mr. Cuddlywomp, Jay's lil stuffed horse

Lloyd Loved that pig the moment he laid eyes on it and he couldn't stop himself from crying.

It was the first gift anyone has ever gotten him and was made with such love and care

They really do want him....

From then one Lloyd slowly started to adjust to his new life. His pranks, while never fully stopping did die down and were less..destructive.

He still had one problem though that kept him from fully adjusting to this new life

The moment that finally tips Jay and Lloyd's relationship from hostile to...something is when Jay walks in on Lloyd having a panic attack over breaking something in the kitchen

Lloyd(who had finally gotten used to having a stable home) had awoken early In the morning thirsty so he went to get a glass of water. He tried to do it in the dark as to not disturb anyone but had accidentally knocked a glass over shattering it.

Jay woke up not long after him hungry as he usually is at that time of day and noticed Lloyd was missing and then heard the glass shatter

Worried he ran into the kitchen only to see Lloyd on the ground crying nnd panicking as he tried to pick up the glass but in his panick all he was doing was injuring himself with the glass

Jay managed to calm him down and help aide the cleanup as well as providing first aid to Lloyd. They ended up having a loong conversation about Lloyd worries I nwhich Jay told him some insecurities he himself had

After that well

Their relationship was different

Jay didn't feel so negative about Lloyd anymore and Lloyd starting feeling more comfortable around him. They actually started to hang out and realize how much they had in common

It was... nice

(He did slip up and call Ed dad one time which made Ed literally cry but thats besides the point-)

Lloyd felt safe and happy for the first time in a long time. He wouldn't give this up for the world.

And then a random old man found Jay while he was testing an invention and everything changed

So we're all in agreement that Jay absolutely has depression right? That his laughter and jokes is just a mask to hide his feelings right?(I mean this part is basically confirmed)

God Jay u make me so siiick

Cuz he fr would be the type u have to regularly check on to make sure he's actually alright

Cuz it's easy so easy to forget to do so when he so easily and effortlessly masks how he truly feels behind his jokes and laughter and smiles.

That his anxiety isn't the only thing you have to be concerned about

He's one to keep masking to keep pretending until he literally just can't anymore and breaks and when he breaks its bad. His break downs are awful and explosive in the beginning, his powers going haywire as they respond to his emotions and try and protect him. And he's just crying and screaming and that lovely smile of his so full of life is just gone and in its place is a dreadful frown that seems endless with how deep it is. But them afterwards its like he..shuts down. It takes him so long to recover from his breaks and the entire time his family is just scared for him, cuz he seems so...dull and unresponsive. They are unable unwilling to leave him alone in fear he'll do something drastic-

But when he does recover it's almost scary how much he makes it seems as if he never had that breakdown to begin with

If it wasn't for the explosiveness of his breakdowns that cement themselves in his families memories you would have had no idea he ever..broke

And that honestly scares the others more.

So they make sure to have regular check ups with him especially Cole and Nya.

Safe to say....it's not long before he's officially diagnosed with depression

Hope to see some Kai and Jay moments in the show cuz too many folks are convinced Kai hates Jay and I need them to show that's absolutely NOT the case

Kai may dig in on him but he cares about Jay as much as he does the others. There isn't any weird hostile relationship there

I really wish we knew exactly HOW Ed and Edna adopted Jay cuz it really makes or breaks the kinda character Libber ended up being

Cuz if they had just adopted him from a system then we know that Libber out him up for adoption before dissappearing, which bring up more questions about her relationship with Cliff and if he was In the know and of he agreed or if she just bailed amd took Jay with her, but that's not important rn

There's also a possibility they they personally knew her or knew her to an extent where she felt safe enough to leave Jay in their hands

BUT there is also a much darker and fucked up possibility that she just left Jay In the middle of the sea of sand and/or some other random place on his own with the full intention of him not being found and it was by the grace of the FSM that Ed and Edna found him

I will never forgive the writers for not exploring this cuz now its EATING at me as well likely never know and I hate it

The ninja regularly sleep in cuddle piles or just chill in cuddle piles. They are long past the point of being embarrassed about physical affection. Working as a ninja has shown them (multiple times damn these bitches got PTSD and trauma) that any of them could be taken at any point and they want to make sure each if them are aware they are wanted and loved so cuddles is a must

I dunno I just think it's cute. They are a found family who loves the cuddles your honor

The parallels between Jay's Arc rn and Nya's earlier In the series is truly something to behold

It would be so interesting if the writers had Nya and the Ninja unintentionally do to Jay what was done to her

What I mean is: Nya's Arc(I'm grossly oversimplifying here btw) In the beginning of the series was about her paving her own path and trying to deal with having little choice In the direction her destiny went. she had to give up her role as the samurai, something she chose to be on her own, to become the water ninja, something that was chosen for her. Then she had to deal with all that was season 6 having her choices essentially snatched from her

She wanted to be the one to choose how her life went. She was tired of others telling her how her life was going to go and not consult her In the slightest

That really parallels Jay's Arc in DR. As I've said before he's had very little choice in his life post merge. Under the control of the administration, while yes he did have some freedom to play video games, we saw just how strict and by the book that place is so we can presume that even with that freedom he still had tight rules he had to obey

Then he left for what he presumed to be freedom under Ras' command. But we all know that isn't true freedom. Jay was lied to, and manipulated to follow Ras' commands. Very strict commands cuz we know who Ras is. And then when he was no longer useful he was promptly tossed out

He finally thought he found some purpose only for that purpose to be snatched away, leaving him with nothing.

Now he's all on his own finally free from anyone's control and I imagine he's not very eager to listen to anyone anytime soon.

Hence why he's now gone Rogue.

Jay and Nya's Arcs are so similar to me message wise that I cannot see it as pure coincidence and I hope that it's used in an effective way

I wanna see Nya unintentionally being a hypocrite. I wanna see her so desperate to get Jay back that she doesn't even try to acknowledge who he is as of NOW In the matter. All she sees is her yin, her love who's lost and alone and needs help and she feels that being with them is the best choice so she makes that decision for him

And of course being with them is better than him being on his own. Thats his family! I know this, you know this but JAY doesn't know this nor does he care right now. And that's the point of view we have to consider cuz through it all Jay's the victim here. He's the one who forgotten everything and is trying to discover his place In the world after being controlled twice now.

All he sees is some random lady that he kinda hates and her friends insisting over and over that he come with them and to go with them. That's where his home is, screw anything else. All he sees is the same shit being spouted to him that Ras prolly did and i imagine it would be infuriating

Tbh They kind of have already started going down that route with having Nya insist that Jay belongs with them. While that is true as I said she doesn't really stop to consider Jay's feelings on the matter even if u can't really blame her

In all likely the Jay she knew would absolutely approve of what she's doing, cuz he would do the same, but that Jay isn't here rn and she's not really considering that. None of the ninja are considering that

They plan on chasing Jay down to get him to come home with them, not really considering(or ignoring) the fact that Jay wants nothing to do with them

They r ignoring his feelings for the sake of trying to get back the Jay THEY know with little consideration with what the Jay of NOW wants

They don't consider the very real potential reality that Jay may never get his memories back, that he may never be the same again cuz they don't want to consider that potential reality

Cuz how would they handle Jay then? Would they accept him as who he is? Or will they continue to search for the Jay they lost, not really caring to know the Jay that is here?

I wanna see that conflict happen, I wanan see Nya being that hypocrite. (albeit unintentionally and trying to help of course) i wanna see her be that pushy and disregarding Jay's feelings cuz she thinks that she knows better. And I want the reality that she hasn't really cared about the Jay of the current to smack her In the face, to smack them all In the face and face that reality perhaps from a new ally of Jay's(me including my huge copium) who doesn't care about his past and just sees him for who he is now

I want Nya to realize how she had been treating Jay this whole time and realize that she messed up. That in her desperation to get her love back, that she had been ignoring Jay's feelings, ignoring his words and trying to decide his life for him, without considering HIM at all, the same thing that had been done to her all those years ago

I got another headcanon on the og4 and their elements cuz fun

Kinda a continuation of this post but also kinda not. I vaguely mentioned a bond they had that was unrelated to the main headcanon, but it's not a necessary read but I still encourage it cuz the overall headcanon is fun

The og 4 are connected on a much deeper scale. A much deeper scale that none of em like but cannot do a damn thing about

Because they have the elements of creation, they originally came from the FSM and as such used to all be together. So when they were seperated into the 4 seperate elements we know today, that "bond" from once being "one" didn't leave and instead traveled into the future wielders

This means that Kai, Cole Jay and Zane all have an inherent bond with eachother that they don't have with anyone else that is directly tied to their elements. Think soulbond essentially

The urge to be around eachother, the feeling of distress and loss and dread when they aren't, that all stems from their elements seeking to be near eachtother

The bond isn't harmful physically but the emotional distress do be there

The further away they are the bigger those feelings of distress and loss etc become. The longer they r away from eachother causes those same feelings

The first time they had to be seperated for longer than a few minutes didn't go well. At all.

That was when Sensei Wu told them about the bond they share snd are unfortunately stuck with as there is no way to be rid of it. Their elements desire to be near eachother and as such act out(and therefore causes the user to act out) when they aren't.

Sensei then had to put them through another series of training sessions to get then used to not being around eachother often. He taught them many methods of calming themselves down and clearing their mind which they still use to help today

They have a much better grasp of their bond now and as such don't freak out as visibly or as bad as they used to. The urge and discomfort is always there but they have better control to not act in those urges recklessly.

Each of the ninja respond differently to being seperated as well

For Kai his temper becomes shorter and shorter. He becomes more snappish and willing to fight. Explosive essentially

Jay's anxiety gets worse and he becomes more paranoid. He's more jumpy and easy to panic. Static shock is common when he's in this state

Cole becomes clingy to an unhealthy degree. He's the one most likely to stop whatever he's doing and leave to seek out the others no matter the situation.

Zane becomes more distant. Like it seems as if he isn't fully there if that makes sense. His emotions take a huge backseat and he seems like a husk

Lloyd is lucky to not have to deal with this. Due to him having all four elements he doesn't have to worry about that feeling of dread or loss when he's separated from the others (though a part of him wishes he did so he could understand what they going through more, but at the same time hes glad he doesn't cuz hes seen how it affects them and he wants none of it)

I wanna make a diagram to show the bond on a visual scale bit that will have to wait till i feel like it LOL

This headcanon also isn't meant to be inherently romantic tho it definitely could be (Especially since I am a Polyninja(or Lifeship) fan) but the concept of the hc is not to imply a romantic bond LOL

...yall Ronin has hair In the show even tho his set piece with his hat had no hair

...They have given characters hair that wear hats before in the show

There is an absolute ZERO chance that Jay will be bald relax lol
