  Truths told she's never known what to make of the Ghoul. Party is who he is (goodbadprettyugly) and Jet takes her calls and calls her sweet like she's little and Kobra- well. Kobra. But Ghoul? Dark hair and that grim smile at the opposite end of a long counter is about all she's got. Nothing else ever seems to stick. (Barring, of course, the grey-gritty fragments that rattle around in her head sometimes, like someone else's kicked-in teeth. Everyone knows those don't count.) So it's hard to say what the fuck possesses her to do it, but an impish smile coils at the corners of her mouth, sharp little teeth flashing, and she swings her bar stool side to side as she says, “Soooo I'm immune in the meantime?”

This is sort of a complicated one, surprisingly. At least when I really think about it.

On the surface level, I would tend to say no. Linus has a pretty decent memory; he may not linger on a lot, but most things stick with him well.

However.

Linus does have a very difficult time keeping a firm grasp on things that bring him consistent, roaring anger. It's not just that his anger makes it difficult to recall finer details, but when his temper flares for an extended period of time over something, I think he -- consciously or not -- will shove the good memories of someone into the recesses of his mind so that he can lash out at them and feel justified.

To pull from a canon event, his interaction with Nino on Cog of Destiny is a pretty good showcase of this for me. Nino is his little sister, a child, someone he loves and otherwise feels very protective of. However, with his incorrect take on the Lycian lords being responsible for Lloyd's death, Linus sees Nino being with them as the ultimate betrayal. With his anger and grief so tightly tied together, he's completely ignoring any love for his little sister to a degree that is, frankly, disturbing.

His grief and anger are valid, he's lost his brother -- but killing his innocent sister and being willing to so brutally destroy that important bond is insane.

In a similar vein, Linus has gone through the mental gymnastics of pushing down good memories of his mother so that he can focus on the bad. So he can hate her, feel justified in his hate, and let that old wound scar over.

So, it's not something out of his control, nor is it something Linus really worries about. It's still an issue, but possibly not in the same sense as the question.

Sort of...bonus, I guess: morph Linus in FE:H is shown to really, really struggle with keeping memories and thoughts in line. I think this is the only situation that makes him fear the loss of memories outright or his understanding of said memories. He doesn't remember how things happened, where important people are, how he gets from point A to point B. It's scary to be so confused and feel so wrong in his own body.

The funniest version of this was how the Minions were "always working for the most evil person on earth" or whatever so they conveniently got locked away for a few decades in the early to mid 20th century

1. Hibiko could tell Bastet is queer in some way after a couple weeks of mostly watching her. Her gaydar went off and it became kind of obvious to her why Bastet stood out from most of the other guards hired by her family. She comes with a different perspective on everything. It doesn't necessarily give her a leg up, but it's what separates her from the pack. But Hibiko just guesses that she's gay or something, not a woman. Though hey she's like somewhat right.

2. Speaking of other knights, Hibiko knows Bastet doesn't fit in very well with them because of gossip from maids she trusts. The knights can have a pretty jocky, testosterone-high culture of their own, and Bastet clearly doesn't want anything to do with it. Especially since they would try kind of hard to hear anything new about the princess that they could. Hearing the others whining about this is what would lead Hibiko to actually try being friendlier with her.

3. Once Bastet has gained enough of her trust, Hibiko's going to start pushing boundaries fairly aggressively. She'll want help being snuck into the city. She's going to use Bastet as her own spy on her parents and guests, or sending her into the city alone to grasp if there have been any developments in the public's opinion of her family/parents.

4. This would directly contrast with what the King and Queen ask of Bastet as things ramp up. They'll ask the knight to help make sure Hibiko isn't outside by herself, or at all, once the sun sets just to be safe. Bastet would be asked to stay with Hibiko when there are guests the princess isn't a part of. They can't hide what's happening, but they wish to shield her from it as much as possible. Hibiko after all has never dealt with civil unrest, and as brave as she acts, will flatline the moment something goes south.

  The question caught him by surprise: Henry turned, a look on his face that read like I didn't realize you were there. Then he glanced down. It was the sort of glance that could have meant he didn't know what blood she was talking about, except that he looked right at it. He swore softly at the stain, which had spread from beneath his collarbone out to his shoulder and down a ways onto his chest. He pulled at the neck of his shirt, peeling it away from his body with a light grimace to glance beneath. What little dressing he'd hastily slapped into place was soaked through. Two shirts down in one day. He wasn't completely sure he had another on hand. He let his shirt fall back into place.

  “It's nothing,” he told her in lieu of an answer. “Looks worse than it is, I think — listen. Uh.. I need to find a phone. Can you help?”
