Kiyomizu temple famous places in kyoto
Kiyomizu-dera is a representative Buddhist temple in Japan, located in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. The official name is "Kiyomizu Kannonji". This temple was built in Heiankyo (present-day Kyoto City) during the Nara period. The most distinctive building is a wooden tower approximately 13 meters high, with a unique structure made of giant logs. This building is built on a plateau and is supported by long timbers drawn from Lake Biwa. The name Kiyomizu-dera comes from the fact that the building is built over a spring. Kiyomizu-dera Temple is a famous tourist attraction, especially crowded with tourists during the fall foliage season and cherry blossom season. There are many Buddhist statues and cultural assets within the precincts, and the garden is beautiful, so you can get a feel for traditional Japanese architecture and culture. Inside the temple, there is a wonderful view from a high place called Kiyomizu no Butai, where you can see the entire city of Kyoto and the surrounding scenery. The view from this stage is especially attractive to tourists who visit during the autumn leaves and cherry blossom seasons. Religious festivals and events are also held in the area, with many people visiting each January for Hatsumode (a traditional Japanese event of visiting temples and shrines at the beginning of the new year).

My Japan Trip : Kiyomizu dera
Despite the crowd, Kiyomizu dera is still one of my favourite places in Kyoto that I will always visit. Not only is the view of Kyoto from the top is stunning but the shops lined up along the way are worth it.
