Here's an oldie WIR-Verse idea I had!

Since Ericka's a later update character only really in half of her game, she has quite a not of free time during hours some days. Ericka often uses this to watch the others in-game, but sometimes she also game jumps, and she's sometimes in charge of babysitting her little Vampson when they're both off-screen.

This is one of those time, where Ericka and her Torracat, Kitty-Cat, occupies "Captain Blood" by sneaking into Sugar Rush with him during hours.

Sprigatito

Hyahhh, what horrors will you...! Huh? This thing is adorable! You guys really didn't have to hold me at gunpoint to make me review this guy/gal/vegetable. In fact, why don't you just untie me so that I can... no? Alright. Where do I start:

Sprigatito! Lovely name. I think its origins are pretty straightforward, it's a small cat with small leaves. Its facial markings even look like leaves, but knowing what I know about its later evolutions, I can see them for what they truly are: the beginnings of a marvelous sort of facialwear.

Its animations are about what you would expect from a relatively frill-less kitty cat like itself, characteristically sweet and inspiring many loud and obnoxious AWWs from myself as I watch them. I may not be a cat person, but I'm also not a callous beefcake who holds people hostage, and so I can appreciate them very well.

I'm enjoying this too much for my situation? Drat. It must have been Sprigatito's soothing scent--supposedly it smells rather nice. I'm thinking something like a cool mint, sharply fresh and distracting. Do they make Sprigatito leaf-flavored toothpaste? Sprigatito leaf-flavored... altoids? Chewing gum? There are so many possibilities, dear captors, if only you had a few with you now, you could demonstrate their efficacy for me personally! WOAH, not so close! *mutters* with your breath, I don't even care about the gun at this point...

Upon its reveal, a combination of its cheerful pink-colored eyes and its other features lead to many exciting and imaginative comparisons that surprised everyone. But in any case, a pink and green color scheme is essentially impossible to screw up, and Sprigatito is no exception, especially when all of its colors (well, all of its three colors) are so vibrant.

Floragato

I want to be a yoyo man, I cry, make me a yoyo man!

Floragato doesn't seem to hear me, but let's see. Hmm... nope, I am still a clumsy woman who can't do anything cool with a yoyo, such as unexpectedly fighting off nonspecific swarms of burly thugs who have me captured with what appeared to them to be merely a children's toy... Maybe next time. Floragato has no such limitations, however.

Sprigatito has evolved, and now walks alongside the trainer on its two hind legs! This might bother some people, but I don't mind it. Personally, I find walking on two legs to be a very beneficial undertaking in day to day life, as it frees up my hands to do important things, like practicing yoyo skills. That's just me, though; Zacian gets along fine with its mouth-wielding.

Again, Floragato's name is straightforward enough. It is still a leafy cat, but it's older now, and carries with it a little flower bud. Aww. Of course, in a classical cat fashion (Do you remember Torracat's "bell" and Incineroar's "belt buckle"? The mind games never end), the bud which appeared to be nothing but a charming decorative pin at first glance actually can extend out on a vine and functions as its favored mode of attack.

This is pretty original, isn't it? I freaked out when I first saw it. My god. Yoyos. Next thing you know, there'll be Pokémon with coins or surfboards, or even spoons. (Nah, that last one is too ridiculous.) Yo-ing requires a lot of skill and dexterity, making it a very flashy art form and perfect for an evolution line themed around showmanship. Also, on a cat Pokémon, it brings to mind the image of a cat playing with a ball of yarn or a cat wand. I'm not sure if that factored into the design, but I do like it.

Meowscarada

As pretty as Meganium, as cool as Decidueye, and as tricky as... hmm, Greninja? And also, as cool as Greninja? Is Greninja cool? Its tongue is... *Hank Meatloaf, one of my most terrifying captors, growls or possibly laughs* anyway, it's MEOWSCARADA!

Its shawl/scarf/poncho thing has grown out into a magnificent dual masquerade/magician's cape that refracts light around Meowscarada to aid it in its increasingly extravagant sleights of hand, and also looks a bit like a fleur-de-lis. Meanwhile now-hidden vine's flower bud has also apparently opened, but all that's normally visible is four sepals with nothing at all in between. This changes in battle, blooming into an explosive six-petaled flower that looks suspiciously like a young pomegranate.

In fact, I rather suspect that it actually is based on a pomegranate and its flower, particularly with the historical importance of pomegranate iconography in particular regions of Spain, such as the aptly-named province of Granada in Andalusia, and the fact that Meowscarada uses the flower as a bomb. Did you know the word for grenades in many languages comes from the word for pomegranate? I bet you did, huh. *I pat Bloody Kate's beefy arm knowingly and am rewarded with a riveting punch to my solar plexus*

Now why would a pomegranate grow on a vine? Well, here's my conspiracy theory about the vine. Meowscarada's paws look suspiciously like beans. I don't mean like, cat toe beans. But like, actual beans. Their claws, which I have never seen protract, look exactly like the germ of a bean. There's no way they didn't think about this, come on, you should just beanlieve me on this one.

Regardless of what flower it actually is, the same one blooms around Meowscarada's neck in the manner of a collar. Cats wear collars, of course, but I think this is more of a traditional ruff. Its mask is potentially a part of its fur; Floragato's dex entry mentions that its fur can stiffen up into a very hard and tough consistency, and so so far as evolution is concerned, this feels like a logical continuation. Who can say, though.

Between the diamonds printed on its mask, its diamond shaped flower (the idle version, I mean), and the many acute angles across the rest of its body, diamonds are important to its design in some capacity. I'm inclined to think its a reference to harlequin print, as Meowscarada itself seems to take a general influence from the harlequin character, but along with its refractive cape it could be something crystalline as well. Maybe if we get something like Terastrallized forms in the DLC, that could end up featuring a bit more prominently.

It's really very impressive how much they integrated all of its fancy faux "clothes" with its nature and gameplay, isn't it? Well, that's Pokémon for you. *starts thinking about Greninja's tongue again*

The official Pokémon website justifies its overall flashiness by saying that it, along with Floragato, is a very needy Pokémon that loves attention, and grows lonely and jealous easily. That's such a perfect explanation for why it would develop such a showy demeanor, though it is a little sad. But really, if you can give it the attention it wants, who doesn't love a velcro cat? All the more cuddles.

Wrapping up!

Unless my zooarchaeological knowledge of real-life Iberia is severely lacking (*pushes up glasses but then devolves into a coughing fit*), all members of this evolutionary line don't appear to be based on any sort of extinct fauna, which means that the rough-and-ready theory that grass starters are based off of extinct animals can at last be discard... no, adapted! The Iberian lynx, which Meowscarada seems to take a spiritual inspiration from, is endangered. Therefore, it is very nearly extinct (nevermind the ongoing and relatively successful conservation efforts for the species, this ain't about them). Dearest captors, you needn't throw out that dollhouse-scale child's boot just yet. If you managed to shove it on poor Grookey, Rowlet, Chespin, Snivy, and that Sinnoh twig turtle whose name escapes me, no doubt you shall continue to be able to do so for the rest of time. Huh? No, I'm not being a smartass! Aaaghh no I'll behave I swear just back off with the peashooter I'm [muffled] [indecipherable]

But all in all, the Sprigatito line is cute, complex and interesting, and visually quite stunning. The sundry themes and influences you might expect to be a little discordant come together just perfectly for my tastes. It purrforms its duty as the primeowry starter and face of the beautiful Paldenya region very nicely, and it's basically everything I could ask for from a cat made of salad. I'm looking forward to finally having one myself. Have you seen how Meowscarada run??

For my special personal rating, I give it a Mari-approval mark: GOLD EDITION. This is a real thing now, I'm totally sticking by it. Unless you threaten me some more about it.

POkemon variations were some of my first popular posts and tbh i’ve always loved them. 

SO i decided to get my butt around to doing more finally! I chose persian, cause i love persian, and thought itd be easy to cross breed. Turns out its simpleness makes it harder in many ways haha

Longer thoughts under the cut  

Standard Persian - Found most commonly in Kanto, but its a rare region that doesnt have atleast one gang of meowth and persian in its cities. A chill kitty

Alolan Persian - Larger and fluffier than its standard version. Much more of a domesticated breed, whilst it can be found rarely in the wild when they were first introduced to alola they were seen as a status symbol of the elite and this mentality has persisted. 

S.Persian/Liepard - A super clever and skilled crossbreed, it is mostly commonly found in Unova. They are infamous for running gangs of pokemon in the larger cities and causing general disruption. 

A.Persian/Torracat - A common cross breed in alola, this xbreed is often considered the battle cousin to the normal a.persian. Always looking for a battle, they are headstrong and barrel straight in to fights. 

S.Persian/Meowstic - Shiny - A precious and very domestic breed found in kalos, they are considered a great pet for kids as the breeding has quelled most of the psychic powers down but they are great empaths knowing when someone is sad and instantly going in for comfort. 

A.Persian/Purugly - The largest of the Xbreeds. This fluffy beast is the mob boss of persians, lazy most of the time but formidable in fights due to their enormous size. Theyre great guard cats. 

S.Persian/Delcatty - Hoenns resident crossbreed. Initially looked down up on as a scruffy cat theyve become  welcomed housecats across the region. Very clever kitties, they are helpful around the house. 

S.persian/Luxray  - A proud and scrappy kitty, this cross breed is found in sinnoh and is considered the beginners pokemon before training real luxrays. They are found a lot in the wild and in the mountains and are rumoured to feed on lost trainers and pokemon. 

S.Persian/Pyroar - A very common cross breed found in kalos, prides of pyroars are often mixed with these kitties though they are always the beta in the prides. They are quite commonly used by trainers as they easy to train, very loyal and patient with beginners. 

A.Persian/Sableye - A sneaky kitty, this hoenn native has spread across the other regions in search of gems. They have a thumb on their front paws that allows them to steal and pickpocket. Many meowth gangs have one in their ranks for their skills. 

S.Persian/Zangoose - A wild and vicious cross breed, it is always looking for a fight. Often caught or breed by trainers for its ferocity in battles. This kitty doesn't stop slashing until someone is dead.

(Keith, Age 17)

“They look kind of…” Lance began, staring out into the field. “Intimidating, all in a group like that. Are you sure this is a good idea?”

Keith looked out at the herd of wild ponyta, scattered with evolved rapidash and grazing in the field. “It’s just some ponies, Lance. What harm could they do?”

“Trample you to death,” Lance insisted. “Set you on fire the moment you try to touch them.”

“Dude, are you scared of horses?” 

“Only rapidash!” Lance defended hotly. Paused. “And mudsdale, and sometimes zebstrika.”

Keith’s turn to pause. “Didn’t you grow up on a farm? How can you be afraid of mudsdale if you lived on a farm?”

“I’m afraid of them BECAUSE I lived on a farm!”

Keith considered that. “Did you get kicked in the head?”

Lance flung out an arm to point at the field of ponyta. “Don’t you have a ponyta to go catch?!”

Keith adjusted his hat, signaling to his torracat to follow him as he ducked out from the trees they’d been hiding behind. “I don’t wanna waste any time, so. I’m gonna go for the rapidash, actually.”

Lance’s eyes widened and he flailed a little after Keith. “Don’t get killed, you idiot!”

Which was ridiculous. It was just a herd of wild horses.

Keith crept slowly through the grasses, sneaking up on the ponyta as they grazed. Once they were close enough he signaled to his torracat, gesturing that it should run in and break off one of the three rapidash from the group so Keith could single it out.

Torracat ran in, and a squeal of neighing commenced as the cat picked out the rapidash towards the back and started blowing flames at its feet to try and trip it up. The rapidash reeled, delivering a harsh stomp attack right on poor torracat as the rest of the herd all started going crazy.

Shit, and torracat was caught right in the middle of the rampaging crowd. “Torracat, get out of there!” Keith commanded, reaching for his pokeball to withdraw the still relatively small cat. He’d been chosen for stealth but it looked like Kosmo would be better suited for the job now that the herd had been riled up...

He heard torracat’s familiar yowl, and Keith called after his cat once again, rushing to try and get to it through the herd. He had no need to worry so much though, because the howl was accompanied by a glowing light as his torracat glowed with evolution.

Bursting out of the crowd of wild ponyta was Keith’s adorable new incineroar, about six feet of pure kitty-cat muscle ready to take on whatever these horses had to offer. “That’s my boy, Incineroar!” Keith shouted. “Now grab one of those rapidash by the neck and hold them still for me!”

Incineroar howled a mighty roar, leaping up into the air for some ungodly reason that did not involve Keith’s order, and coming down hard with an elbow to rapidash’s head. 

The rapidash dodged most of the hit to only get a graze, shaking it off with a confused whinny. “Good enthusiasm but that’s not what I told you to do! Try again, Incineroar, hold it still for me!”

The rapidash charged at Keith’s incineroar and Incineroar charged back, grappling the horse with it’s great arms and this time actually following orders to hold it by the horse’s thick neck.

The rest of the herd took the time they were charging at each other to all scatter off, leaving Keith and his pokemon alone with their chosen rapidash. Keith ran up to rapidash’s side, leaping up onto the horse’s back.

Incineroar let go of the rapidash’s neck and leapt out of the way, letting the pokemon go wild with Keith still on his back.

Keith clamped his legs tight around the rapidash’s sides, leaning forward to get a grip on its neck. The rapidash took some time to get used to him, running around the field in huge circles and trying to buck Keith off for a few long minutes before finally settling down and letting Keith ride him.

Keith led the rapidash back to where Lance was watching with a dropped jaw, pointing at Keith like he’d just grown a second head.

“THAT’S NOT HOW YOU CATCH POKEMON, KEITH!” He shouted, for some reason offended. 

Keith slipped off the horse’s back, taking out a pokeball and tapping the button to let Rapidash inside and officially capture it. “What are you talking about? I just did it.”

“You can’t just -“ He flailed. “Jump on a wild horse’s back and instantly TAME IT, Keith! That should have killed you, not caught you a pokemon!”

Keith shrugged. “Incineroar helped,” he said, turning over his shoulder to watch the giant cat charging after them from where Keith had left him in the field. “Right buddy?”

Incineroar roared in delight, wrapping his huge arms around Keith and lifting him up off the ground in a bear hug. “Roooaaarrrr!”

Oh, okay, that was disorienting. Keith was pretty sure he’d never been picked up before in his entire life, so this was… A new thing to get used to, right here.

Lance was just watching from the sidelines as his excitable incineroar gave Keith one last affectionate rib-crushing squeeze before putting him down. “You know you’re a freak, right? Like a total weirdo?”

Keith just smirked. “Hey, Incineroar, don’t you think Lance looks like he could use a hug, too?”

The giant cat rumbled in delight, turning to Lance with outspread arms. Lance swallowed thickly, and Keith laughed.
