Jaskier knew from very personal experience that Geralt had a tendency to think that the best way to take care of someone or something weaker and more fragile than him was to leave that person or thing behind, no matter what they thought, or to drive them off if leaving them behind didn't work.

Oooh, can you tell us about kittenskier?

Kittenskier is a fic in which, post-s1 (and obvs not s2 compliant as I started it well before s2), Jaskier accidentally runs afoul of a sorcerer who's pissed off at Geralt, and won't listen to him when he says he has no idea where Geralt IS, and turns him into a kitten in retribution, assuming he'll die horribly and Geralt will never know what happened to him etc etc.

And Jaskier is, instead, rescued from dying of dehydration and exposure by Geralt, away from Jaskier's camp and with Jaskier not having a way to communicate who he is, because if he tries to point out words or letters they get scrambled and he can't actually do it, bc of the spell. So he's just got Geralt looking after what he thinks is a remarkably brave kitten, even after Geralt stumbles over his old camp and thinks he's dead. But it's not so bad, Geralt's affectionate and soft and talks a LOT to him actually, and oh no he feels BAD about the mountain and---

Eventually, obviously, he is broken out of the curse, but it's Eventful(tm). :3

Kittenskier is a fic wherein Jaskier gets turned into a kitten while traveling apart from Geralt after the dragon hunt, and Geralt finds him and saves him from an ignoble kitten's death in the woods but doesn't realize it's JASKIER.

It's mostly an excuse to give Geralt a kitten and have him monologue about his feelings eventually, in the guise of talking to his kitten. XD
