Ruby always struck me as Asian & since her dad's name is Chinese, I decided to use Empress Wu Zeitan as a reference for her attire. 

As for Oscar, I debated making him an African or Indian prince. I ultimately decided on using Indian prince attire for the sheer amount of reference photos I was able to find.

I finally watched this show and I love it! I've never watched any Star Trek before, so there are a few references that go over my head, but context clues make it a show anyone can watch. I’d definitely recommend!
