Consider the following
Two of the kits in Dappleflint's story share names with two of Tigerkit/cloud's siblings
Specifically Antkit and Cinderkit
So let's say, hypothetically, the kits do go to the Dark Forest
And Tigercloud sees Antkit and Cinderkit, is reminded of his siblings, and feels bad for them
So he convinces his dads (Rookstorm, Aspenroot, and Kiteburn) to adopt them
Ooooh
maybe the other kits separate into different families because of conflict from not agreeing on who’s to blame for their deaths and Parsleykit (some taking blame, others refusing to, others taking the blame for the death but not agreeing that it warranted their own murders)

I wonder how far a singular family tree could stretch....
FadingFlea's family extends to the Tunnel Family through Proteafang and Tawnytrot's relationship.
The Tunnel family extends to the SmallBasil family because of Lark/Leaf (surrogate) and also because Emberdawn herself was a surrogate for them.
SmallBasil's family also extends to the JackdawFern family because of Tawny/Leaf (surrogate)
JackdawFern's family also extend to the Tunnel Family through Tawny/Lark.
SmallBasil's family also extends to Sparktail's family for the same reason.
SmallBasil ALSO extends to the Gaping Maw family, because of Blood/Leaf (mates).
The Gaping Maw family also also extends to the Eye-Out family because Blackfinch and Falleniris are mates.
JackdawFern would also extend to the Eye-Out family because their kits are mates, and that would also extend to the Aspenroot/Kiteburn/Rookstorm family because those mates are in a poly with the three's own kits.
and those are just the main big families that I could remember on the top of my head!
There are so many more connections with smaller families or individuals
(family trees are now on the pinned post)

Updates and corrections for the list of couples and kits:
-Tigerkit has been adopted by Rookstorm, Aspenroot, and Kiteburn
-Volenight, Stonesun, and Lighttail are now a poly
-Waspkit and Nightkit were born outside of the Dark Forest
-Tansykit (from the BegoniaWeb litter) is dead
-Mellowkit has been adopted by Daisysong and Wordweaver
-Daisysong and Wordweaver are now a couple
-And if you want a little bit of a sneak peek, Gorseheart and Emberdawn will soon get two new additions to form a poly: Birchflight and Foxfire 👀👀👀
@residents-of-the-darkforest @ambitiousauthor please correct me on anything I may have missed myself!
I’ll update it in the morning! Thanks! :D

RookAspenKite bio kit 1/4, Honeykit/Honeyflower!
-oldest and only female of the RookAspenKite bio litter
-named after Rookstorm's grandmother Honeyshade
-most closely resembles the litter's surrogate carrier Shiverrose, her bio dad is Aspenroot
-inherited Rookstorm's NPD
-a spoiled AF daddy's girl and she knows it
-a disaster lesbian with a big AF crush on Proteafang
SHE'S SO PRETTY and can definitely see Shiver and Aspen in her
and I absolutely adore the fact that Kite and Shiver went from "killed the other / planned to kill the other to being close enough for Shiver to be a surrogate to Kite's kit. Truly amazing

RookAspenKite bio kit 4/4, Stonekit/Stonefrost!
-named after the Moonstone, where Kiteburn murdered Shiverrose, as a way to spite StarClan (Shiverrose suggested the name)
-bio son of Rookstorm, takes after him appearance wise
-the sweetest and gentlest of the RookAspenKite bio kits, very similar to Aspenroot in personality
-loves his dads and siblings very much, but is closest to his "uncles" Batlight and Gorseheart (especially the former)
-best friends with Treespall, has a bit of a crush on him
--aw Treespall has a best friend
--sweet fluffy boy!!
--Shiver suggesting the name is so chaotic, imagine having to explain that to Stone

RookAspenKite bio kit 3/4, Hawkkit/Hawkflight!
-named after the hawks that Aspenroot used to carry out his murders, as well as continuing the bird theme that Rookstorm and Kiteburn have with their names
-bio dad is Aspenroot, takes the most after him appearance-wise
-free-spirited like Aspenroot, rebellious and anti-authority like Kiteburn
-the troublemaker of his siblings
-aroace and loves to laugh at his siblings' romantic misadventures
he looks so kind, I can imagine him using that to his advantage--probably by getting out of trouble
--

#I just imagine Aspenroot so happy that he didn't do what his parents wanted#cause then he would have kits he didn#t want with a mate he didn't want#and now look at him! two mates and kits he can truly lovw#that is when they're not getting in trouble#aspenroot#kiteburn#rookstorm#hawkflight#wc#dark kits

RookAspenKite bio kit 2/4, Blazekit/Blazestrike!
-named after Rookstorm's mentor Tigerblaze
-bio son of Kiteburn, takes the most after him in looks
-aggressive and fights anyone who looks at his family wrong
-very proud of his strength
-also inherited Rookstorm's NPD
-hopelessly in love with Drizzlestare
I can just imagine Drizzle dragging him into so many chaotic and unhinged adventures
and his strength would be a good balance for her lack of!

also I realized when making his ref that Tigerkit hasn't been adopted yet
I was thinking maybe Rookstorm, Aspenroot, and Kiteburn would make good adoptive dads for him??? 👀 has some angst potential too with Rookstorm's mentor/older brother figure/killer also having the Tiger- prefix lol
double-angst when you remember that the trio also adopted Cloudpaw, who as a kit killed his sister and would now would have a kit-aged sibling

Rabbit Rhymes (short story)
“‘What do hawks sit on?’ Frog asked. ‘hawks sit on hot rocks!’”
“Ouch!” Honeykit piped in, giggling.
“Yes, ouch!” Fungichomp agreed with a purr, his gaze warm on the kit between his paws. “What animal do you think is next?”
Honeykit thought for a moment, her chin shifting to the side and her eyes looking to its corners. “Rabbit ‘cos they have big legs!”
“Rabbits have big legs?”
“Yeah!”
“Do they sit on something big?”
Honeykit nodded. “Uh-huh. They have big legs and they sit on big things because they have big legs.”
Fungichomp smiled as he searched in his mind for something that rhymes with ‘rabbit.’ “‘Hawks sit on hot rocks–yeouch!--and rabbits sit on....maggots!’”
“Not maggots!” Honeykit giggled.
“‘That doesn’t sound very comfortable,’ said the frog,” Fungichomp went on, “‘it’s not about being comfortable,’ said the mouse, ‘it’s about doing the right thing.’”
Honeykit shifted. Fungichomp waited until she was settled before continuing. “‘What do foxes sit on?’” He lowered his head. “What do you think foxes sit on?”
“It has to rhyme!” Honeykit pointed out enthusiastically.
“Yes, it has to rhyme,” Fungichomp agreed. “Can you think of what rhymes with ‘fox?’”
Honeykit tilted her head so high in thought, she was practically looking at the leaves in the trees above them. “Uhuhuh! Hawk!”
“You’re right, hawk and fox do rhyme.” Sort of. “Do you think foxes sit on hawks?”
“Hawks won’t like it!”
Fungichomp gasped. “You’re right again! You’re so smart. Do you want to pick something else for foxes to sit on?”
Honeykit nodded vigorously. Then she giggled triumphantly. “Phlox!”
“That’s a big word!” Fungichomp responded, genuinely surprised.
“Fadingstar saided it and I like it,” Honeykit explained.
“I like it too! Phlox! Phlox! Phlox!”
Honeykit laughed more fully, eyes narrowed in her joy. Fungichomp felt just as warm. Of all the tasks he had in the Daycare, taking care of kits one-on-one were by far his favourite of them all. They continued on until the story finished, Honeykit bursting out in laughter–again–at the ending.
Fungichomp waited until she was fully asleep, head flopped on his foreleg, then slowly stood up. Gently, he took her by the scruff and into the napping den, where she was placed onto her nest with only a wriggling toe of protest. Her fathers should be picking her up soon. Rookstorm had gotten into a tussle with Applefoot, and both toms had gotten sick from infected wounds–because of those, sickness follows cats here, too–and Aspenroot had to train his apprentice, so Kiteburn took their litter here until they could set things back in order.
Not for the first time, in fact, it happened every time he blinked at a kit, he was glad that he decided to make the Daycare–though he would forever be furious that he needed to. But before that anger could settle any deeper than a passing thought, Mellowkit rushed toward him. “I found a ant!” he announced loudly.
“Why don’t you show me?” Fungichomp suggested, and followed the little tom across the small clearing.
=============================
--A NICE story? Written by me? And not of the same characters I write about all the time? What is happening????
Lol yeah I got inspired because I’m working at a Daycare. I’m still just starting, so I don’t know how right the speech is (mainly for Fungi’s responses), but I think it’s pretty okay.
--Surely not all stories parents tell their kits are warnings. Some can just be goofy fun! This is a very slightly edited version of Frog On A Log.
--Fungi belongs to @wills-woodland-warriors
Honeykit/flower was named and designed by @starfalcon555 who also owns Rookstorm
Mellowkit/tooth belongs to @ambitiousauthor at this point in time, he only has a single mama, so she probably uses the Daycare often for support.
This would also make Mellowkit and Honeykit least five moons of the same age.

Honeyflower x Spiderspots kits!
Litter 1 (mother: Honeyflower):
Vulturekit: brownish-gray tabby tom with reddish-brown eyes (named after Kiteburn, since vultures and kites are in the same family) (donor father: Smokyflame)
Poplarkit: cream she-cat with jet-black tabby stripes and green eyes (named after Aspenroot, since poplar trees and aspen trees are very closely related) (donor father: Adderclaw)
(Smokyflame and Adderclaw were both friends of Honeyflower and Spiderspots, they both offered to surrogate at the same time and Honeyflower didn't want to choose so they both did it lol)
Litter 2 (mother: Spiderspots):
Rhubarbkit: a torbie (tortoiseshell tabby) she-cat with orange eyes (named after Aloemist - rhubarb and aloe are both used as laxatives)
Almondkit: a white tom with small brown spots and pale green eyes (named after Fungichomp, who I think Spiderspots sees as a father figure - almond is specifically a reference to the almond agaricus mushroom)
Hawkflight is the surrogate father for both kits in this litter - he's aroace but wanted to help his sister Honeyflower start a family :3

okay going to start making up some extra bio info for the BasilSmall litter, starting with Smokyflame!
Mentor: Kiteburn (he wanted Sparktail but Alderstar and Myrtlewing were like HAHAHAHAH NO WE DON'T WANT TO BE BURNT ALIVE)
Dark Defects: His voice is always scratchy and hoarse, very similar to a heavy smoker. Very thin and ragged.
Dark Benefits: EXTREMELY good sense of smell
Extra Fun Facts:
-His best friend is Beechblaze, a fellow pyromaniac Dark Kit (who was also Sparktail's apprentice!)
-Out of all his siblings, he's closest to Deertongue and Sandspark - they're kind of a chaotic trio
-Also pretty close to his "cousins" Cypresstail, Badgerfoot, and Pebblespots (Cypresskit, Badgerkit, and Pebblekit, who have gotten their warrior names by now!) :3
amazing! chaotic trio!
Myrtle would LOVE to be burned--he's a weirdo for pain, but his poly would be like 'ARE YOU INSANE??"

Dark Forest Resident: Shiverrose
Aliases / Nicknames: ??
Gender: she-cat
Sexuality: homosexual
Family: unnamed mother, unnamed father
Other Relations: unnamed mentor
Clan: Windclan
Rank: medicine cat
Characteristics: kills pure-blooded warriors to prevent future discrimination
Number of Victims: 4
Number of Murders: 4
Murder Method: poisoning
Known Victims: unnamed warriors and elders
Cause of Death: face bashed into the Moonstone, killed by Kiteburn
Cautionary Tale: ??
Story:
It took time to become clear to her, but once she received her full name, Shiverrose could no longer ignore the harsh truth.
The Clans, in spite of years of growth, were still discriminatory toward those of ‘impure’ blood. Time and time again, cats, simple and legendry, had proven that blood does not make a warrior, and time and time again they were ignored or forgotten.
It wasn’t until she came to terms with it did she realize that, in a way, she always knew. She was made to stay away from her best friend, Greykit, because he was Half-Clan. She watched as he and his loner father were shunned, saw how no matter how hard they proved themself, there were still those that believed they were a plague on Windclan.
But apparently, even having a bad limp, she wasn’t?
It was infuriating.
Greyheart’s death had nothing to do with her, or anyone for that matter, a simple hunting accident. But her grief along with the rage from whispers claiming if he were Clan-born he would not have failed a hunt was enough to push her to murder.
After all, a Clan cannot shun those who are not Clan-born if no one left in it is Clan-born.
She wondered how she would do it. Slit their throat? Bash their skull in? It was all too obvious, not to mention the blood..
Oh, how silly she was! She was a medicine cat! Their lives were already in her paws. She just had to do the opposite of saving them.
She started with a burst of sickness, which may or may not have been caused by poisoning the fresh-kill pile. It wouldn’t kill them, but would ensure that plenty of warriors would need her attention.
Anyway, it was perfect. Instead of waiting moons for every Clan-Clan warrior to come by and having them all die, she would kill them all at once! Then it would be believable, a bad sickness that took many lives. Sad, but it had happened before.
Well, not all at once. But all while they were still sick, and it wasn’t like they were going to get better soon. Not with her giving them their medicine. The only one who did get better was Stoatpaw. He was young enough to learn better ways, and besides, she didn’t have the heart to kill someone so young.
A few deaths there, a few deaths here. She would have missed the Half-moon meeting, with so many warriors to care for, after all--even including Kiteburn, who hadn’t been poisoned--but the leader was so distraught, and asked her to go seek Starclan’s advice.
She did, going extra early this time to avoid talking with the other medicine cats. If the leader asked her if she asked them for help, and she lied, and he later asked them and found out that she had lied, what then?
She sighed in relief when she arrived, and no one was around. She was about place her nose to the stone when a shadow appeared.
Additional Information:
--Changed it from Moonpool to Moonstone because I really like the idea of Shiverrose having shards of glowing rocks in her face.
--Funnily enough, she likely would have killed Kiteburn if he hadn’t killed her first. He also inadvertently saved his Clanmates.

Dark Forest Resident: Kiteburn
Aliases / Nicknames: Starclan-hater
Gender: tom
Sexuality: heterosexual
Family: unnamed mother, unnamed father, unnamed sister
Other Relations: unnamed mentor
Clan: Windclan
Rank: warrior
Characteristics: kills to prove a point, kills those that annoy him
Number of Victims: 2
Number of Murders: 2
Murder Method: slitting throats, bashing heads into rock
Known Victims: Stonefoot, Shiverrose
Cause of Death: feline leukemia virus
Cautionary Tale: ??
Story:
It was irritating. All his life, his opinion never mattered. The only thing anyone ever seemed to care about was Starclan.
Don’t talk back to your elders! What would Starclan think?
Listen to your mentor, or what would Starclan think?
They even put it in the code to thank Starclan! If they were so great, what did they think the amazing Starclan would do? That their brilliant, kind ancestors would punish them for failing to say ‘thank you’ after catching some random mouse?
His feeling of injustice increased when, refusing to thank Starclan, he was punished and made to take care of the elders in the hopes that the older cats could talk some sense into him.
That, they certainly tried. Complaining about today’s youth and all. Nothing that actually changed Kitepaw’s opinion. In fact, it greatly hardened them.
For refusing to thank some random ancestors he never even met, he was forced to stop all hunting and fighting, things actual useful for the Clan to know, for an entire day.
And what of his opinion? No one bothered to hear him out, to even ask why he felt such a way.
Brainless ants, the lot of them! Mindlessly following the laws created generations ago, believing that some dead cats could control anything that happened in the Clans if they didn’t like what someone was doing!
If that was the case, wouldn’t all the stories of Tigerstar, Scourge, Sparktail, and who knows how many others, wouldn’t exist? Starclan demands thanks for all they do, and in return they allow murderers and killers to roam free, doing no more than to give a vague warning only helpful when the warriors are at the brink of irreversible damage?
They couldn’t stop him from being diagnosed with Pale-sickness, that was for sure. Laying in the medicine den with an elder, Stonefoot, it was hinted to him that maybe, just maybe, he would be perfectly healthy if had never bad-mouthed Starclan as an apprentice.
Was he joking? Bad-mouthing a sick and dying Clanmate, blaming them for their death?
At least that was the good thing about dying, wasn’t it? There was no such thing as consequences.
He killed Stonefoot to begin. He wasn’t going to initially, but the old bat had dug his own grave. He slit the elder’s throat after the medicine cat left for the Half-moon meeting, then hurried after.
Shiverrose made sure to be early due to her limp that often slowed her down. Lucky for Kiteburn, she was quick enough to ensure that they would be alone long enough to get the job done.
Afterall, if Starclan is so powerful, surely they can prevent the death of a devoting medicine cat right at their most sacred spot?
Ha.
He wasn’t surprised when they failed. He padded away, seeing the other medicine cats arrive in the distance, off to a field of heathers and gorse, where he happily laid to die.
Additional Information:
--Pale--sickness is FelV disease, and is called so due to paling gums and whitening eyes, both of which Kiteburn had as symptoms.
--Shiverrose was actually a killer too, and likely thought it was a revenge killing until Kiteburn told her “nah I just wanted to prove a point.” To which she would respond, “oh damn, me too.”
