When a ghost gets severely injured, they can revert back to their core to save energy and heal. Halfas are not an exception to this rule. The difference for them though is that a full ghost when healed goes back to being themselves almost immediately after healing. Halfas take significantly longer. They lack their memories and their original form even after healing, and it can last between weeks and years. During this time a Halfa relies heavily on ghostly instinct. Which almost always leads to them haunting.

This is how a small little baby man Danny ends up haunting an unused wing of Wayne Mannor.
