Do you know where I can watch Good Doctor (the Japanese one)? And is he still a surgeon or just a doctor? One problem I have watching the American one is even though it's good I hate having to cover my eyes for good chunks of the episode bc I get grossed out by all the surgery stuff they show.

My memory is always a bit hazy when I just watched something, but from what I remember, he’s in the pediatric department and working to be a surgeon, just like in the Korean version.

Yeah, I loved the American one, but some of the scenes made me feel sick. It was very graphic sometimes.

Anyone having trouble watching stuff on PS4′S web browser?

Excuse me-Can I have everyone's attention please! Has anyone ever watched videos using the web browser, but has trouble watching anything during the past days this week? Because I have gone to watchcartoononline, able to watch one video, but wjen going to the next video-nothing happens it says Error loading media. It's not just watchcartoononline, but kissanime, kissasian.ch, kimcartoon. So I was wondering if anyone else is having problems watching stuff on PS4's web browser these past days

Oh…that is a very delicate question because a ‘legal source’ for tokusatsu…as far as I know that’s difficult to find and/or I just don’t know what sites are ‘legal sources’ but I’ll simply write about where my go-to for tokusatsu is

Usually I go to kissasian.ch (it appears as kissasian.sh in the search box but it’s the same site) as they tend to upload the subbed versions of episodes faster than most websites, I believe, and are more likely to have complete seasons + the best viewing quality available. It’s my go-to for anything related to live-action for Japanese and Korean media.

kissasian.es seems similar but they have a slightly different way of filing episodes (i.e. episode 1 will be listed as episode 001). Nothing too radical, though if you want to type into the search box a website address that goes to an episode you want, kissasian.ch is the better option, as kissasian.es puts in these odd numbers into the URL that personally annoy me.

Some tips for kissasian.ch (if you’re using a computer)

Sometimes the default server won’t work, so the best one is the RapidVideo option. RapidVideo can also go defunct at times, but it isn’t a big problem - just reload the page and try playing until it works.

If it’s a very recent episode you’re looking for, the Facebook or MP server is good

Turn off any Ad-Block apps you’ve installed when you go on the site, otherwise you can’t watch any of the videos provided.

The servers that aren’t Kissasian Beta/Alpha tend to make pornographic/game/virus/dating advertisements pop up in new tabs when you try to press the play button the first few times. The trick is to close them as fast as you can, but even if you get an annoying virus ad, don’t worry - it’s a big scam. Don’t provide your personal details under any circumstances (including your username and password for the computer) or call that number that’s supposedly the “help line”. Just close it either by exiting the tab or the window itself.

Another site that comes to mind is jatoku.com - they also upload good quality videos of tokusatsu. But I stopped going on that site because I couldn’t view certain episodes for some reason, so try your luck with that site.

Thai Drama (Lakorn) Recommendations #1

Recently I fell in love with Thai lakorns and Thai series. Not only do they help when trying to study Thai language but they are pretty entertaining. (Disclaimer: I am not an expert, this is just my opinion. I know some shows can be intense with certain themes so I will be putting trigger warnings below with strike through only two dramas need these, but I feel like I need to put them. I know these are not for everyone and I respect that.) 

So what is a lakorn? Lakorn is short for lakhon thorathat, or "television drama." These tell a complete story in a certain amount of episodes (unlike American soaps) and usually have a runtime of 1 hour + per episode. (I have seen them equated to Hispanic telenovelas.) The ones I have chosen to start with don’t are more mild in my opinion and stay away from being too extreme. (Okay there is one on my list that is a bit extreme. I would like to add I don’t condone all of the themes in these shows but I liked them inspite of that.) Without further ado (and in no particular order) my first five recommendations ^^

#1.) รักล้นใจนายแกล้งจุ๊บ Rak Lon Jai Nai Klaeng Joob (Kiss Me) [comedy/romance/school] starring Mike D’Angelo and ‘Aom’ Manaying Sushar. This story is the classic story that has been remade many many times (Itazura na Kiss/Playful Kiss/It Started with a Kiss) but with a Thai spin on it. (aka don’t think you are going to get a regurgitation of those dramas, it delivers some of the classic tropes but adds and subtracts making it its own thing.) This story is about Taliw, who is cute and lively and has a crush on TenTen, a grumpy genius with an IQ or 200. An accident causes their cohabitation, and that is just the beginning of their chaotic story.

#2.) เล่ห์นางฟ้า Leh Nangfah (Angel Magic) [comedy/romance] starring ‘Vill’ Wannarot Sonthichai and ‘Push’ Puttichai. This story centers around Lallalit (Beauty,) a spoiled and selfish heiress who is cursed by karma to live as a human by day and a bird at night. To break the spell, her good karma must out way her bad, and she must also receive a kiss from a man that she loves more than herself. She has her work cut out for her dealing with her karma as well as trying to prove to her childhood friend Teepob that she can handle her half of the business with smarts and grace.

#3.) ภพรัก Pope Rak (Two Worlds Love) [action/comedy/romance/drama/supernatural] starring Mark Prin and Bella Vanita. This story centers around two main characters, the rice socialite Naamrin (Naam) and a police officer named Yeeo.  After leaving a dress fitting, Naam is involved in a street race which escalates and causes an accident for both drivers resulting in Naam becoming a spirit. Officer Yeeo is the only one who can see Naam and thus is tasked with solving her story and figuring out her identity while also helping to unravel a twisted plot directed at Naam’s mother.

-No trigger warning needed. (Even though this deals with spirits and the theme of death it isn’t horror genre or scary)

#4.) เล่ห์รตี Leh Ratee (A Woman’s Trickery) [drama/romance/light slap-kiss] starring Sean Jindachote and Ester Supreeleela. (Now hear me out because the plot sounds insane but it is really good.) This story centers around multiple families. On one hand we have Sake and his family, they run a lucrative business and are very wealthy. He is married to Idsaya who is kicked out when Sake’s mother finds out she is a liar and a gold digger. Kate is a strong young girl who’s father works for Sake’s company but has been embezzling money to spend on his gambling problem. Kate’s childhood love is Poo who wants to marry her when she finishes school. However the plot starts thickening when Kate’s father’s embezzling comes to light and he flees. Once he is found however he is discovered to have a medical condition, and he decides to sell his daughter Kate to Sake in order to produce an heir and in turn pay off his debts.

-Trigger warning: There are two scenes with forced kisses.Their initial consent is dubious but it quickly turns into consent.

#5.) กาลครั้งหนึ่ง…ในหัวใจ Karn La Krang Neung…Nai Hua Jai (Once Upon a Time…In My Heart) [action/romance/mafia/drama] starring Pimprapa Tangprabhaporn, Mik Thongraya, and Boom Piyaphun. This story centers around Fahsai who accidentally finds herself stuck between two warring mafia clans and a plot for revenge. On one side you have Daniel who coerces Fahsai to help him when he is shot in Japan and on the other you have Chen Min who attempts to use Fahsai to gain information on Daniel.

-Trigger warnings: In a fit of anger a character forces a kiss on Fahsai and also rips her shirt. There is mention sexual assault as well as a clip of a girl tied to a bed. Since this plot involves mafia, there is violence. so i came across this webdrama by chance and i cried so much while watching it. it was by far the most beautiful webdrama i’ve ever watched and it felt realistic even tho slightly dramatized but i loved the plot and the hidden messages behind it.

New Show - A Korean Odyssey (S. Korea)

Ending out 2017 and kick starting 2018 with a big fantasy Korean drama, tvN brings us Hwayugi also known as A Korean Odyssey. Based off the Chinese novel Journey to the West, Hwayugi is a story about Jin Sun Mi (Oh Yeon Seo) who has always had the ability to see and exorcise demons. As a child she was tricked into releasing Son Oh Gong (Lee Seung Gi) a troublemaker deity. They meet again 25 years later.

To demons and deity’s Sun Mi is known as Sam Jang and if she were to be eaten they would gain enormous power and strength.  Oh Gong desires to eat the Sam Jang to gain this incredible power but when he finds out it is the same girl who set him free it causes him to hold back. He lives with Woo Ma Wang (Cha Seung Won), another deity who runs a entertainment company using other deities as his stars to absorb fans energies. Extremely successful idol P.K. (Lee Hong Ki) helps him in keeping Son Oh Gong from trying to gain extra power helping turn him into Sun Mi’s protector from demons trying to eat her. Coming from the writing team of the Hong sisters, this drama is bound to be huge for the year and only two weeks in the viewing numbers are proving so. Lee Seung Gi returns from his military service with this role playing a very cheeky but bad ass deity who is easily lovable. So far it is very exciting to watch and funny, a nice blend of cheesy humor in it as well and I hope it continues on this interesting path of putting the story in modern day Korea. Airing on the weekends you can find it on Viki streaming services, will be also showing on Netflix and for quicker less formal services you can find on “ondramanice.go” and “kissasian.ch”
