How old was Ella when Lady Tremaine came into her life? Was she very young, or was she older and therefor not as eager for her new mother's love?

Please keep in mind that the era I placed my Cinderella in is that of the Rococo Era. When I first started rping Cinderella it was in 2011. So I chose Kirsten Dunst as my fc for her role as Marie Antoinette in the movie of the same name.

So my headcanons have adjusted to fit said era.

My personal headcanon for Ella is that she knew Lady Tremaine and her daughters before her own mother died. Ella’s father, Éduoard Tremaine ( I follow the trivia of that in a Disney release book early on that Ella’s family is the Tremaine name as it is women who take on their husband’s names during that time ), was indeed a very wealthy merchant in France and was one of the biggest names of those that helped export many goods for France, making France, and the royal family, very wealthy. Hence, the family was at court and often.

Ella knew court life well and her soon to be stepmother was also a member of court ( my personal headcanon ) through her ( at the time ) husband. So Ella also knew Anastasia and Drizella but often steered away from them because of how mean they were. Because of how well Ella’s family got on with the royal family LT was very jealous and wanted to find a way to be one of the favored and soon was ‘widowed’ and Ella’s mother, Astrid, soon became ‘sick.’ LT became close with Éduoard and consoling him while feigning help with Astrid. She was even kind to Ella and when Astrid died Ella was around six years old.

A year later is when her father married LT and she was near to ten when he died. LT slowly convinced to keep Ella away from court out of feigned concern, saying that the poor dear lost her mother, she doesn’t need to be around such malicious people ( the court ) while she mourns. And when her father died and the whole family stayed away from court it was not seen as strange. From there her true nature came out and was horrible to Ella. So she has been LT’s ward since she was ten.

She did want LT’s love, she was close with her own mother and thus when she died she felt very alone despite having her father. She did all she could to get LT’s praise but it all fell short after her father’s death and saw how cruel LT could be.
