So I told Cypress, who lives in Emerald, that we can wait to evolve him. He can stay a Kirlia for the rest of this game and then I'll bump him up to 4th gen where he can be a Gallade if he would prefer that over Gardevoir. But that would mean having unevolved base stats in the championship fight...or worse, sitting on the bench.

He said he'd rather have the base stat boost NOW rather than later. I didn't even tell him about the dragon immunity Gardevoirs get in gen 6. That can be a surprise present for later.

I think once I have the money for it I'm getting him a Thunderbolt TM, and I might give him some yellow streaks in his bangs for it? When he finally gets to learn Magical Leaf (will have to be postgame, sob) I'm gonna get him a neat hand tattoo for it.

royce / male / rash / scizor ; obtained at level 26 on route 130, royce is the former co-leader of a biker gang he had with his friend, setsuko, before her sudden decision to leave and join the team. regretting saying goodbye to her without telling her something he felt important, he left to pursue her, but he found that by the time he discovered her new team she was already gone. while her disappearance was sudden and left no trace but her hair ribbon behind, he has not let go of the hope he will see her again. he vowed to complete the mission she had left behind with her team.

sasuke / male / timid / houndoom ; obtained at level 5 on route 101 as my starter, sasuke is a distant individual who doesn’t have much of a past to speak of. while commanding, he lacks leadership qualities that would be necessary for a starter to unite a team. he finds no reason in possessing strength without meaning, and as a result he began to travel in search of a purpose. he is brash in speech and dislikes forming new relationships, which makes it hard for new members to truly get to know him. he, however, does seem to have a good relationship with both lyn and toto; despite the tragedy that has occurred around them, they have always managed to survive, together.

lyn / female / lax / gardevoir ; obtained at level 3 on route 103, lyn is a runaway that comes from a line of talented mages who found she couldn’t handle the pressure of her linage. she wanted to put her talents to use for a cause of her choosing rather than one determined for her. she joined the team when it was just her, sasuke, and their friend kael. after kael’s death, she found her will to stay dwindle; it was only after she felt she got a glimpse of sasuke’s true nature when he helped her escape her mother’s pursuit that she decided he was someone she wanted to work alongside.

toto / male / quirky / feraligatr ; obtained at level 5 inside petalburg woods, toto joined the team after a brawl with sasuke, being baited by his sudden declaration that they were rivals. he derives his sense of fun from training, and more often than not he is five steps ahead of everyone else on the team in terms of strength. he has much of the charm that sasuke lacked, and he would eventually become the unspoken leader of the entire team. his best friend was bernadetta, before her death.

nicolette / female / calm / muk ; obtained at level 28 on route 121, nicolette was rescued by toto during an attack when he happened to be passing by. she is a lady of higher status who found herself ill equipped to handle being on her own after abandoning her house in the face of an arranged marriage. she is uppity and blunt, unabashedly judgemental, and despises brutish behavior. still,  she has the clearest mind of the team and is seldom clouded by emotion. she was in a relationship with bernadetta before her death and carries around her sunglasses as a token. she is closest with royce.

clementine / female / naive / kecleon ; obtained at level 32 in the cave of origin and defeated at level 52 during my battle against wallace, clementine was a scholar who spent a majority of her studies investigating hoenn legends. her desire to learn more made her seek out experience rather than simply research, and it was with the team that she gained that experience. she saw sasuke as an inspiration, royce as a dear companion (she is also the only one who has seen his face!), and nicolette as her confidant.

Errki(As Kirlia), Errki evolved into Kirlia at haunted rock. Well Errki whined that he didn’t wanted to look like a girl, but as Kirlia he looked like a girl. So after turning into Kirlia Errki begged Erika to not turn into Gardevoir and get dawn stone as fast as it is possible, well Erika really wanted to do so, thanks to her uncle that sent some evolutionary stones to Erika Errki evolved into Gallade, and not only he evolved. His psychic powers got little bit stronger so he became little bit more useful in fights. And he is still smol bean.

In the game his stats are still uh... Bad, because of his adamant nature and Kirlia’s special moves, but since his special attack got little bit better he became more useful at fights. I’ve made Errki’s eyes different colours as a special token.

And also drawing is old, i drew it at autumn.

My hand hurts!  Anyways, I had been thinking ‘Oh I only need to do megas for Kojiki and Hitorigami’ and I forgot I had a Gardevoir on the team.  Kushinadahime is too many letters for the nickname limit so she’s just Kushina.  Conveniently I can use the mythical figure’s comb motif with the Gardevoir line’s horn things.

I’m really fortunate to have stumbled upon this Japanese costume museum and this blogpost about wedding kimono.  Tonight I learned that the dangly tassel ornament on a wedding kimono is actually the sheath of a KNIFE!  I love it.

Also I forgot at first that I was going for a mask theme with my megas so I kinda tacked that little accessory mask on her head at the last minute.  The symbolism of ‘they turn into something different’ is gone, but Mega Gardevoir isn’t that different from regular Gardevoir so let’s say it’s on theme.
