A/N: thank you so much for following me and liking my posts! Hope you will like this too, i mean, i tried c:
Parties weren’t Jimin’s thing. Loud noises, incessant laughter and chattering, alcohol, overcrowding. They caused an excruciating headache, his sensitive fox ears ringing for days, unfortunately prolonging the pain.
This time his mate was there though, and he couldn't help but come to get another glimpse of her.
Given the rarity of the occurrence, it was unlikely for hybrids to face such a situation. Compatibility was almost nil even among the hybrids themselves, nevertheless there were still instances of them finding their mates.
He never thought he would meet someone who would completely flip him out, yet here he was, at a party planned by their director in his huge villa celebrating the successful outcome of the drama in which he and his mate had starred as the main characters.
He knew her only by name, how her acting chops made anything to do with the world of entertainment look good, her respectful and gentle way of communicating her thoughts, and even her beauty.
Kang Eunmi was the best actress with more awards won for her talent in the last years, a gem in the acting career. And Jimin was convinced that her fame would increase in the nineties as well.
He was no less. If Kang Eunmi was all over the news and newspapers, the name Park Jimin was not missing.
His donations, the love he showed for his work as an actor and his fans, the way he connected with people.
Both of their fans wished to see them paired up in some drama or movie, and they too had happily expressed that they would love to be cast together for something. That day came along with an overwhelming twist for Jimin.
Just a whiff of that delectable scent of her was all it took to unhinge his senses, overscenting every other scent in the place. It made its way into his lungs and became air to breathe. Intoxicating him.
A brush of fingers, arms, any part of him against hers would blaze and cause goosebumps all over his body. Craving not to pull away.
Her dulcet voice drawing him in as she flashed her dazzling smile to ensnare him even more, like a siren with a sailor. Her dark eyes finally dragging him into her sorcerous world.
Bewitched he was, willingly bewitched, and it was apparent that she was also attracted to him. She was not hiding her interest.
Longing and fleeting glances were being shared across the room, a small alluring smile tugging at their lips, to elicit any kind of reaction from each other. Attentive not to get caught to keep up their game of seduction.
There was something so beautifully intimate about that brief eye contact that happened clearly but also covertly.
Two lovers speaking only with their eyes.
But when that brief oh so intimate eye contact suffered an intrusion, the cocoon of affinity and attraction that surrounded them would be torn apart.
And it irritated him.
There was always someone interrupting. As co-actor Jung Hoseok was doing now, snatching his partner's attention with words whispered in her ear after approaching her with a smirk he would have loved to wipe off his face before having both of their gazes on him.
The man raised his drink at him with a slight movement of his head and a waggle of his eyebrows. Jimin’s fox ears twitched, returning the gesture with a forced smile.
“I see steam coming out of his ears,” Hoseok giggled and Eunmi followed suit, smacking his chest with the back of her hand.
"Hold this for me," she said, handing him her glass, her eyes still locked with her favorite hybrid. "I'll be back later."
She heard him whistle and she chuckled at it, knowing that a grin was making its way across his face at her intentions as she headed for the stairs to the upper floor,
Eunmi stepped into one of the many guest rooms, lucky to find it unoccupied as she started to kick the black heels off her feet, breathing a sigh of relief.
The door being closed caused her to turn and she saw Jimin leaning against it with his arms crossed and his head tilted slightly to the side, his golden eyes sparkling with jealousy.
“Don't you think you've gotten too much into your character? The drama is over, you don't have to play the jealous part anymore, Mr. Park.” She cocked her head to the side, a teasing smirk spreading across her face.
Jimin hummed, nodding his head, his tongue playing with his inner cheek, and those simple gestures provoked a sudden wave of heat between her legs.
He took a few steps towards her, his hand stretched forward in a tacit request for permission to have hers, which she accepted without faltering, putting her palm on his.
“Can you blame me for that? Spells are hard to break if you don't know the formula well, Ms. Kang,” he whispered one of the lines played by him in their drama before placing his lips on the back of her hand in a lingering kiss, a desire-filled look exchanged between them, tension sensed in the air.
Eunmi tittered, a little alluring giggle that tickled his eardrums, “How flattering.”
Her eyes followed the fingers of her other hand lightly caressing his chest until they reached the hem of his turtleneck and slipped inside, sensing his muscles beneath them and hearing his breath hitch.
One last glance was enough for their lips to meet in a ravenous kiss, his hands gripping her body tight but gently to not hurt her with his hybrid strength as her hands pulled hard at his hair, eliciting a soft moan from him.
He trailed a hand down to the hem of her black short dress to lift it a little bit – tenderly, like touching something precious – and she could feel it sneak into her lace panties, sliding a finger into her and making her shudder.
A low chuckle left his mouth, breaking the kiss, the warmth of his breath hovering over her face as he looked at his finger playing with her folds, “So wet already…” He glanced up at her, “Are you that eager to fuck me?”
It was like a switch being turned off, eyes darkening and pupils dilating.
In an instant, her palms collided with his chest, and Jimin saw himself being pushed backward toward the bed, ending up flat on his back on the mattress, his shoes touching the ground.
“You seem surprised, baby,” she chortled at his astonished being, dropping down to her knees in between his legs, nudging his thighs a bit wider to get as close to the edge of the bed as possible.
That pet name almost made him whine.
Slowly, eyes locked together, she drew her hands up his thighs until her fingers reach the bulge in his pants and pull his hardened cock free from his pants and boxer.
“Oh, fuck!” he grunted, dropping back on the bed and gripping the sheets when she slid her hand up and down his length.
She swiped her thumb over the swollen head, picking up the leaking precum and tracing the tip of her thumb around the tiny opening, before she parted her lips and took him slowly into her mouth.
He shuddered and inhaled sharply when she began to bob her head, her tongue swirling and working him at a painful, slow pace.
She was torturing him, sending him through the ecstatic thrill of the oncoming orgasm with her tongue and moans vibrating against him and then depriving him of it by excruciatingly slowing her rhythm.
He loved it. He loved it so much that it surprised him.
“Oh, please, please-“ He tugged at her hair, his head spinning and body tensing, desperate for his release.
She pulled off his cock with a pop and he whimpered at another one of his failed relief.
Oh, his pleas were such a turn on, and now, with his half-lidded and pleading eyes glistening with a craving that wanted to be satiated, he was so adorable.
She had not expected to have this Jimin before her, at her mercy, but she loved it.
She flashed him a mischievous grin as she stripped off her dress and tossed it to the side, her bra and panties next, and his breath hitching at the sight of her completely naked.
“What’s the matter, baby? Why that look? Mmh?” she taunted, helping him take off his pants and underwear. “You just found out that you like it when I take charge, didn't you?” She set her legs on the bed, moving forward to straddle him and get rid of his turtleneck. She didn’t get a response and this made her grip his hair, lifting his head to meet his eyes, causing a wail to escape his lips. “Answer me,” she growled, teasing the tip of his cock with her thumb, making him whimper again.
“Yes, yes- I- I- love it so much I-“ he cut himself off with a hitched gasp as she put the head first then let her folds run up and down his length, a sinful moan escaping her lips.
“Don’t worry, I’m on pills.”
She kissed him and he nipped at her lip as he placed one hand on her back to bring her closer while the other cupped one of her breasts, playing with her hard nipple before placing his lips on it and licking it sensually.
She threw her head back, bouncing on him and clenching tight and hot around him, eyes closed and fingers playing with his fox ears, an overwhelming feeling invading their senses.
Jimin looked at her with his eyes half closed, his mind invaded only by the image of her even now.
Her touch on his burning skin, her body heat warming his body as the mere closeness made his heart burst with glee, feeling her in every way.
He felt her fingers slide through his hair, grabbing it and giving him another of her mischievous sneers, their breaths mingling together.
“So hard and ready…” she teased, pulling at his hair even more as she giggled near his ear and this had his eyes rolling at the back of his head. “Are you so eager to fuck me, baby?”
“Yes, yes, yes! I want to fuck you so bad, I- I want to-“
His lips found the skin of her neck, licking it before taking a deep breath of her scent. The same scent that was now awakening his hybrid instincts.
To mark her. Make her his. Make everyone know she was his mate. Make her know she was his.
He growled, pressing his tongue to the crook of her neck and when he sensed they were close, he sank his teeth into her neck.
She let out a scream of pleasure in a blend of pain at the sting she felt, tightening her grip on his hair as he moaned loudly against her neck, their bodies tensing before relaxing against each other, his forehead resting against her shoulder.
When they both came down, Eunmi moved slightly away from him to touch the wounded part, letting out a hiss at the contact. After some liquid found the tips of her fingers, she glanced at what it was, surprised to see blood, her own.
She shifted her attention to Jimin, who just before hearing her hiss was still immersed in that intense moment and now had a pale face and wide eyes, fear filling them.
“Oh, God- I’m- I’m sorry! I’m- I didn’t want to-“ he stammered, his trembling hands seeming to want to touch that spot but pulling back at the very last. His eyes darted from her face to her neck over and over again, panic taking over him. “I’m so sorry! Please, please- It wasn’t-“
“Hey, hey! Look at me!” her voice was gentle while she cupped his face with both hands, noticing his puppy-like eyes filled with unfallen tears. “Breathe, slowly, and tell me what happened.”
He did as told, looking at the two red dots adorning her neck, “I… marked you. I…” he gulped, heart constricting with guilt. “It’s... one whiff of your scent is enough to send me over the edge. My senses are always on high alert. I'm drawn to you and can't tear myself away. Because…” he sighed, “you’re my mate.”
She was caught off guard. It was totally unexpected. She was aware of their chemistry, the sexual tension – shit, she didn’t even know how they hadn’t had sex before for how blatant it was!
But from this to say she was his mate? Her?
She knew that a hybrid was capable of controlling themselves in the presence of their mate, but there was a limit to it and if it was crossed over it was difficult to turn back. The mark strengthened the bond, adding more hardship to it. A hybrid could also go bersek if someone or their mate themselves attempted to break it.
“I didn’t want it to end like this. I wanted to tell you everything first. But maybe I messed up with my jealousy and- I’m sorry- I’m- “ he sobbed and she bit her bottom lip, feeling her heart clench.
How could she hurt him? How could she refuse? He was not his fault. His mate was in front of him, someone that not eveyone of his race had.
She stroked the skin of his cheek with her thumb while the fingers of her other hand gently brushed against one of his ears, a gentle smile forming on her lips, “It’s ok, Jimin. You did nothing wrong.”
“You mean…” he trailed off, unsure if what she wanted to say was what he thought.
Her smile widened, resting her forehead against his after placing her lips on his for a tender kiss, “Yeah, we can make this work.”
Jimin couldn’t believe his ears, which now twitched after hearing her answer, and pulled her in for a tight hug. His tongue ran over the mark to get rid of the trails of blood and soothe the pain caused by the bite and he nestled his face into the nape of her neck, pulse quickening with an euphoric energy.
Eunmi rubbed his back, with him still inside her, not pulling away. Another way of reassuring him.
And this was all he needed, grinning from ear to ear, the tears forgotten.
Their connection was more than just mates, it did not stop at simply becoming one. It was far more than that, they were above that. Deeper and more unconditional than she thought. Like the main characters in their drama.
Being an actor had advantages.
Indeed.

Reply to kappu-ke-ki-67's OCs reactions to being broken up with:
Ash: She flinches slightly as he raises his voice but held her stance. "I think we should break up-"
Lucifer: He shakes his head. "AJ get up."
Nicholas: "I would never lie to you about serious manners like this. I think we should think about this."
Jaeyeong: Jae hugs herself and took a deep breath before calling out to him again. "Min... Minmin please-"
Nasya: Nasya hugs her pillow closer to her chest "Charlie don't go- I wanna talk about it..."
Haneul: The young man gave out a sigh and ran a hand through his hair "Eunmi listen to me. You aren't a side bitch but god are you ever treating me like one-"
Celestina: The singer ran off stage after her final song and rushed to her dressing room. She paused once at the room knowing his answer on her phone waited for her. A moment passed before she dared to enter and picked up her phone. She listened to the voice mail and without realizing it redialed his number
Mei: She stumbles back reaching behind her so she didn't slam into the closed door behind her "S-sam there isn't anyone else!"
Sherlock: The angel shook his head hearing her laugh. "What is so funny-?"
Hobi: He felt his heart ache seeing the demon tear up at his words. Despite his lack of feelings for her it still hurt him to harm her. "Listen Lilith I.. I just- I didn't mean to hurt you-"
Dmitri: He had carefully picked his words for her but his words falter at her response. "You.. You knew this would happen-?"

idk if u saw my last ask BUT what is devil in a new suit! jk had a girl flirting w him at like a club or smtg and he goes along w it to make oc jealous but instead makes her sad n insecure🥺🥺
[ read devil in a new suit ]
pairing. jjk x f!reader. rating. general (for once!!). tags. this kook. that’s it. that’s the warning. wc. 0.7k. author note. i really wanted to do this but... i couldn’t, because this kook is just so sweet on reader and also a lil too innocent (maybe wrong word) to do this to her. i’m sorry! instead, you get this fluffy, cracky goodness. if you’d like to see this with another couple though (might i suggest ghost!JK or finders!JK), i’d be happy to do it. 😭
Jungkook looks good. Jungkook looks really, really good.
It’s one of your favourite fits: a simple black dress shirt under his lucky leather jacket, tucked in and cinched around the waist by the Ferragamo belt you’d gotten him on a whim. It throws his body proportions into insane relief, makes your inner pornstar want to throw it back on him (not that you don’t want to do that all the time). The jeans he wears cling to his legs, stick to his muscled thighs and nearly weep with the tension of keeping everything held together.
You find yourself staring at his ass more often than not, taking any excuse to slide your hand into his back pocket. Walking from the valet to the elevator? Hand. Standing in the lift? Hand. Standing by the bar with his friends, leant over the surprisingly neat wet-top as you wait for your drinks? Hand, baby!
You’re wholly unabashed, snickering to yourself when he flicks his stare to you, lets his pretty doe eyes peek out from beneath his fringe.
“Baby.” It’s almost a reprimand but not quite, too patient and kind to bother you as you sink your hand back beneath denim and squeeze. (You’re not always like this. Rarely, in fact. But there’s something about Jungkook in those jeans and that shirt and—
Okay, maybe you’re just a sucker for the man.)
“What?” You croon, all fluttering lashes and a curl of your gloss-slicked mouth. You love teasing him, love watching that gentle candlelight twist into a raging inferno. It makes him rougher in bed (but never mean - never ever mean), occasionally even stirring that surprising side of him to the surface.
He’s about to speak - give you a list from A to Z with full MLA citations as to why you need to stop pushing his buttons, all while looking at you so cutely you’ll want to devour him - when the chance is snatched away, just as your hand is. He glares at you with whatever his version of a glare is, anyway, and you beam, preening like the cat who ate the canary.
“I’ll be right back.”
You’re not gone long. Five minutes at most. (You’d caught a glimpse of two colleagues on your way in, had waved and mouthed something about two seconds before you’d been tugged to the bar.) You’re surprised by what you return to.
Jungkook - your baby bunny turned muscle man, your might-as-well-be-a-Boy-Scout boyfriend - is making conversation with someone you don’t recognise. Someone terribly pretty, in a skirt that hugs her curves and makes her legs look a mile long, with the creamiest blonde you’ve ever seen. She’s wearing shoes you own - Valentino Rockstuds in grey, because it’s a Saturday in Seoul and the night is young - and has a hand on his arm, giggling up a storm like every word out of his mouth is the funniest thing she’s ever heard.
The lurch you feel isn’t just physical - it happens in your chest too, heart slamming into your ribcage so hard it hurts. Had you just broken a bone? Collapsed a lung? Surely you were seeing things.
There was no way your dear sweet Jungkook was… flirting with someone else?
It takes you too long to find your voice, his coming first in the form of your name.
It takes you even longer to acknowledge it, blinking at the sight before you.
“_____?” He’s repeating himself, glancing toward you with concern in his stare, the twinkling rooftop lights reflected back at you. (What else does it reflect? If you looked closely enough, could you see your crumbling expression, the sadness that sweeps in and tears you apart like a sand castle at high tide?) “This is Eunmi.”
When he says her name, it’s too much. Too familiar, too sweet. Sounds like the beginning of the end.
And then, all at once, everything snaps back into place. Jungkook reaches for you - glides ink over porcelain and pulls you to his side, hooking his arm around your waist to bring you where you belong. He stamps a kiss right against your cheek, seals up all those little cracks with his affection, and looks at you so full of love you wonder how you could’ve even doubted him for a second.
“Nice to meet you.”

Daddy Day Care | Chapter 4
pairing; jungkook/female OC
genre; fluff, romcom, smutty in the future, Dad!Jungkook rating; explicit (IN FUTURE CHAPTERS ONLY, not yet) words; this chapter 5001 (lol), total so far (18.547) Ch 1 / Ch 2 / Ch 3
— synopsis; Jeongguk is your average 25-year-old - job, work, friends - everything regular. Except, he has a 5 year old daughter. And he’s single. Until a “princess” waltzes into his life.
warnings for this chapter: You still very much want to have Jungkook’s children. Cursing & Banter. Traces of Jinslut. JK is hopeless. You’re going to want to punch and hug him at the same time. Unable-to-flirt and struggle-to-adult Jungkook. A/N: PLEASE have mercy on me if there are any mistakes, English has been kicking my ass lately. Hope you enjoy. Sorry it took me this long. Let me know what you think, my ask is always open <3
It took no less than 10 minutes for me to see and understand why Eunmi is as whipped for Gayoon as she is. See, when you’re five, adults seem so cool, so serious, so grown up. Parents are parents, even if they are cool, they are simply not cool enough. If there is an adult in the mix that is old enough for it to be WOW to a five year old and also doesn’t have the responsibility of being the parent – jackpot.
Eunmi was acting like she and Gayoon are attached by the hip and Gayoon just played along with it. Even when Eunmi wanted to show her every single toy she has, even when she took her by the hand and dragged her away to show her every possible corner of the apartment. What would normally at some point become annoying to anyone, even me as her father, Gayoon took like a champ and not only played along, but actually seem interested. Hell, she even asked Eunmi questions.
She’s a natural and I can see why she’s Eunmi’s favorite teacher. I’m also suddenly very glad Yuki insisted that we pay an insane tuition for Eunmi to go to a private kindergarten.
And the little one did not hold back – she clung onto Gayoon like a koala. So much so that I got a heavy case of second hand embarrassment with how clingy she was being. I’m just glad she’s five – no matter what she does, ‘she’s five’ is always an excuse to get us out of any mess.
Two hours from the moment we stepped into the apartment and one impromptu tea party with stuffed animals, Eunmi managed to doze off, despite the excitement she had been feeling the entire day. Her words were dragged and her eyelids were barely open but she still refused to nap – until her head fell down onto Gayoon’s lap, her lips open and eyes shut.
“Let me help you with that,” I smile at Gayoon, keeping my voice low and my hands gentle as I pick Eunmi up, very careful not to move her around in my arms too much. She normally sleeps like a log but I can’t risk it – if she wakes up not only will she be cranky but she will probably refuse to sleep again. Not that it would do her much good, seeing as her eyes simply refused to stay open.
“Wait, let me help you,” Gayoon whispers as she gets up from the couch, walking in front of me to open the door of Eunmi’s room for me to walk through. I put Eunmi down on the bad, smiling when I notice her signature nose scrunch – for a second, I freeze, scared that she will wake but it turns out to be a false alarm. Very gently, I tuck her in and put her favorite teddy bear underneath her arm. Gayoon closes the door after me, smiling at Eunmi. “She is beyond cute.”
“I know,” I smile stupidly, unable to ignore the urge to gush about how adorable Eunmi actually is. “She is a little cutie but she already has a temper,” I add.
“No,” she laughs and shakes her head as we make our way back to the couch. “I don’t think she does. I suppose she can be a bit tricky but you have no idea how bad the other kids can be,” she tells me, giving me a pointed look as she reaches for her cup of hot chocolate – hot chocolate she had to help me with because I nearly burnt it. “There’s a reason Eunmi is one of my favorites.”
“Is she good to others?” I ask, making Gayoon look at me in confusion. “I mean, I’ve never heard anything about her fighting with other kids but… is it really like that or do teachers just say that to make parents relax and don’t ask stupid questions?”
“Oh boy,” she chuckles, smiling at me. Yeah, that’s the kind of smile that makes me swallow a lump when it’s directed at me. “It’s really like that. We wouldn’t lie, at least I wouldn’t. It’s important for parents to know what their kid is actually like, even if that means that they sometimes hear something they’d rather not know of. You have no reason to worry, though. Eunmi is a proper sweetheart and she’s nice to everyone. She’s also not a pushover, so don’t worry – she would hold her ground if need be.”
“Good,” I breathe a sigh of relief. “You’d think that after five years, I’d be sure of myself and of what I’m doing but most days… I swear I’m more like a headless chicken than a fully functioning adult,” I admit.
“Oh come on, we all have our headless chicken moments,” she reassures me, a smile still plastered on her face. “She’s your only child, it’s not like you have experience of raising one. I’d say both you and her mother are doing a good job. Both in general and in your circumstances.”
“What circumstances?” I ask, noticing that she suddenly looks uncomfortable. She’s looking away and her face is the face of someone who said something they shouldn’t have said. “If you’re referring to us being young, we’re well aware of that,” I laugh.
“It’s not that,” she shakes her head. “You’re young, of course you know that. But it’s one thing to have a teacher of your daughter point it out in a way that might sound condescending, even though it isn’t.”
“Don’t worry, I truly didn’t take it that way,” I tell her. And I mean it. “I was just confused as to which circumstance you’re referring to, us being young or separated, because both are quite specific circumstances and both are very much true.”
“Age can mean something, in my opinion, but it’s definitely not a rule,” she tells me. “Like I’ve said before, we can all be headless chickens every now and then. And as for the two of you being separated, I will let you know that my mother raised Jimin and myself all on her own, since Jimin was three and I a baby. So yeah, circumstances be damned.”
“That’s quite impressive,” I nod. I never knew that Mrs. Park was a single mom but then again, I had no clue Jimin was her son either, and I just recently saw Gayoon for the first time, so I probably shouldn’t be surprised how little I know about Mrs. Park’s family tree. “You’re one of the few people that actually don’t appear all judgy and mighty. I’ve gotten used to it by now – half the parents of Eunmi’s classmates look at me like I’m a high schooler or something.”
“Jeongguk… more often than not, you or Eunmi’s mother pick her up from kindergarten before other parents do. You both pick her up early to try and spend more time with her. Some of those kids stay in the kindergarten until five, six PM. I understand that many of those parents have jobs and obligations but so do you. And yet you still do it. If I were you, I wouldn’t worry too much about what they think.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you are just a nice person?” I ask.
Fuck, verbal diarrhea. Why did I say that? It is true, I’m not denying that but why did I say it? I could have just said thank you or something like that. Well, at least I didn’t say that she’s the nicest person on the planet – it could have been worse.
“I’m not gonna lie, I have heard it before,” she laughs. “But it’s always a good thing to hear. And you seem pretty nice too.”
“Even with a daughter that clings onto you like a koala?” Jesus Christ, Jeon Jeongguk, shut the fuck up!
“Well, if you don’t mind me being honest, she’s the best part,” I laugh at her comment. She’s not wrong – Eunmi is the best part of me. She’s the best thing I’ve ever done and pretty much the only thing in my life I am genuinely and completely proud of. If someone thinks she’s the best thing about me, I’ll gladly take it.
“I’m sorry we kidnapped you for the whole of Christmas Day,” I tell her, feeling guilt rise again. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t expecting to stay at our place for three hours and counting. “I’m sorry if we ruined some plans for you. I’m an idiot who forgets his wallet everywhere he goes and Eunmi didn’t want to let go of you.”
“No, it’s okay,” she shakes her head, smiling with that adorable, small smile that makes me swoon and want to punch something at the same time. “I was literally working back at the kindergarten. We had a family lunch and we all went our separate ways. The only plan I had was Netflix and food. I got cake, Super Mario and a tea party, so I would say the day was quite fruitful.”
“Would you like to add some wine into the mix too? Eunmi seemed pretty knocked out, we can be adults until she wakes up?” I suggested.
Perfect, you fucking fucktard idiot person! You are literally asking your daughter’s kindergarten teacher to get drunk with you in your apartment while your daughter is sleeping in the next room. Are you absolutely out of your mind? She’ll run and probably get Eunmi expelled or something.
“That sounds like a great idea,” she surprisingly agrees. “I’ll just call Jimin to let him know he should take a taxi when he leaves for home so that he can drive me and my car back home.”
“Perfect.”
For a usually quiet person, I realize that I am surprisingly chatty with her. In the little I’ve known Gayoon, she always seemed like a good listener. She would listen carefully, nodding along and looking directly at you, asking you questions when you pause for a breath. We had red wine and talked just about anything and everything until Eunmi woke up. Before we ended up playing Super Mario, we talked about her, about how difficult it is to raise kids, how difficult it is to work with kids, how I never thought I’d end up being an office worker and how Gayoon was positive she would end up opening a bakery.
Hours passed in good fun and before we knew it, it was Eunmi’s bedtime and of course, my daughter had to backstab me and refuse my offer to read her a story and saying she’d rather have Gayoon read it for her. I got a pat on the back from Gayoon, probably because I looked and felt like a kicked puppy, before she agreed to read her a story.
I was leaned on the door, listening to the two of them talk about princess and mermaids, because not a single page could go by without Eunmi asking both related and unrelated questions.
The teacher in Gayoon was present – well, either that or the fact that she actually does seem like a genuinely good person. She clicked with Eunmi so well, I could feel my heart swell.
I have only ever seen Yuki acting this way with her. Perhaps Byulyi and Hyejin, occasionally, but never anyone else. She… she seemed almost motherly. After having random girls run from me because I’m a father, run from me as if I am the plague itself, it’s quite shocking to see someone not doing the same thing. Of course, the context is different – Gayoon hasn’t shown a particular interest to get into my pants, nor have I shown interest to get into hers, at least I don’t think so. The context is different but it still feels so damn nice to see someone being so good with Eunmi.
I don’t move from my place until Gayoon does, moving gently to tuck Eunmi in and smiling up at me as I turn off the lights and make my way back to the living room. She closes the door carefully, quietly and smiles at me again. “I hope this wasn’t too much – I just can’t say no to her.”
“Of course it wasn’t,” I shake my head immediately. “Thank you. Thank you for doing that. Whenever she’s not with Yuki, I feel as if I’m not… you know, doing it well.”
“Please,” she rolls her eyes. “You’re much better at this than I am. Being a teacher and nice to kids is nothing more than my job – this is the role of your lifetime and you’re playing it perfectly, from what I’ve seen so far.”
“It’s almost sickening how nice you are.”
She bursts into laughter, quickly covering her mouth, not wanting to wake the little one up. I was wrong when I thought her smile is the most charming thing about her – now that I heard genuine, surprised and uncontrolled laughter, even if for a second, I know this one takes the cake.
For someone her age, our age, she sure does have a childlike laughter. And I’m pretty sure I’m staring at her now. Good work, Don Juan! How very smooth of you!
“I’m not that nice,” she shakes her head. “But I do have to say that… Oh!” she hurries to answer her phone, pulling it out of her pocket in the speed of light before the ringtone manages to wake Eunmi up. I even manage to recognize the ringtone. I pull the song out from the old, forgotten, punk brain of mine – The Ramones, ‘She talks to rainbows’. Of all the songs I expected to hear coming from her phone, this was not the one. “Yeah. Yeah. I’ll be down,” she ends the call. “Jimin’s waiting for me.”
“Oh. Okay. Well, thank you for bringing me my wallet. And staying with us. And playing with Eunmi. And talking to me. And reading her a story. Yeah, thank you for everything, I guess.”
Nice work, Romeo. Smooth talker, that’s what you are. Smooth fucking criminal.
“Stop thanking me,” she laughs as she moves towards the hallway, grabbing her purse and jacket from where I hanged them earlier. “I had fun. It’s safe to say we’re friends now – and friends do spend time with each other and their kids. And they give each other cake and bring each other lost wallets, so stop thanking me so much.”
“In that case, thank you for a lovely day.”
Okay, that actually was smooth.
“Hmm,” she narrows her eyes at me. “I’ll take that one.”
Before I could say anything or think about the position of my hands, she hugs me. I am completely frozen for a moment, before I realize that I have less than a second to react before she pulls away and this turns more awkward than it already is. So I hug her back, tapping her shoulder with my hand. She smiles as she pulls away and my face is probably nothing more than a painful grimace.
“I’ll see you around,” she smiles. “If you ever need a babysitter, you know my number.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” I chuckle. “Merry Christmas Gayoon.”
“Merry Christmas Jeongguk.”
I stand at the door as she walks down the hallway, waving like a complete idiot even though she doesn’t turn around – I’m waving and she doesn’t even see it. I shake my head, snapping out of it and closing the door before she has a chance to see me standing here like a complete idiot.
I close the door, lock it and bang my head on it, hard enough for it to be painful, faint enough to keep Eunmi asleep and Gayoon unaware.
I think I’m in the beginning stage of having a crush on my daughter’s kindergarten teacher.
“Could you at least try to pretend like you’re having a good time?”
The problem is, I did. For a good half hour, I looked like the very gif of The Office’s Michael Scoot gritting his teeth and looking as awkward as possible. For half an hour I did my very best to look as if I am having the time of my life.
The truth is, I don’t remember the last time I felt as uncomfortable as I do now. Seokjin insisted that I should not be alone on New Year’s Eve, which is exactly why I ended up following him to what he called the hottest club in town. Him and six of his best mates, most of whom I’ve known for years, but in passing, as I never really wanted to be a part of their sausage fest. Which is exactly what I am now.
Seven men and me, as bored and as uncomfortable as I could possibly be.
They come here with a goal – get drunk and get laid. And I just want to be home, in my sweatpants, eating ramen and playing Super Mario or finally catching up with Black Mirror. Literally, every possible scenario that includes me staying at home is better than the current situation.
My brain is one generic EDM song away from turning into pudding and my stomach is one fruity drink away from giving up on everything. I’m a stay-at-home, beer-drinking kind of guy. This is not my place.
So, to answer Seokjin’s question – no, I can no longer even try to pretend like I’m having a good time.
“I’m sorry,” I sigh, watching him shake his head in disappointment. While I know he’s joking, I also know that my mood is affecting his and the last thing I want to do is ruin his night – New Year’s Eve, of all nights. I don’t want to be that person, I hate to be that person but I can’t fight it. “It’s just not my scene.”
“You always adapted before. This isn’t your first rodeo,” he tells me and honestly, he’s right. I used to go out with him before and while it was never my favorite thing to do, I could handle it.
“I don’t know, I think I just have too much on my mind,” I yell, in order to overpower the bass.
“You’re thinking about your girl?” Seokjin yells back at me.
“No,” I shake my head. “I mean, I always think about her but it’s the way it is – I had her for Christmas, Yuki has her for New Year’s Eve. It’s the fairest deal possible.”
“I’m not talking about Eunmi,” Seokjin laughs. “I’m talking about her teacher. You know, the girl you’re crushing on?”
I don’t know why I thought it was a good idea to tell Seokjin about it. I guess I expected advice, seeing as he’s my big brother and a ladies man extraordinaire. Instead of a good, solid piece of advice or even a rude wakeup call while reminding me that she is my daughter’s teacher, I just got laughed at. I called him the same night Gayoon left my apartment, and since then, not a day has passed without him mentioning it in a way that could appear humorous to anyone but me.
“Seokjin, I’ve told you, I am not crushing on her.”
“No, you just like her,” he corrects me and leans over to yell directly into my ear. “Look, you are making questionable choices because you can’t even remember the last time you had anything with any woman. You’re over Yuki and you’re not ready for commitment again but you need to get yourself out there and do something because crushing on your daughter’s teacher is not a common storyline. Find someone else to crush on before you and your ex need to change your daughter’s kindergarten!”
God, he’s right. Yuki will kill me if we have to change Eunmi’s kindergarten and judging by the way Eunmi seems to be attached to her friends and even Gayoon herself, she’d kill me to. I’d rather wait for her teenage years before I hear the first “I hate you” from her.
“Or, if you’re really hung up on her, ask her out,” Seokjin completely changes his story. “Just pick a side. Either grow a pair or take your pick,” he waves his hand around, as if he’s showing me all that the club has to offer. Outside the sausage fest we are in, the club really is full of girls our age, most of them in a pack with other girls, very probably looking for a hook up, the same way all of Seokjin’s friends know that if all goes according to plan, not a single one of them will be going home alone.
It’s like watching National Geographic or something. Two packs of opposite genders eyeing each other from different sides of the club, picking their pray and getting all hyped up before they strike. Words of encouragement shared, pats on the shoulders, a few giggles here and there and the plan is set in motion. Of course, not all is a hunting field – there are packs that are here just to have fun. I can see a group of laughing and dancing people who are…
“Holy shit, that’s her!” I all but yell, pointing to the dance floor.
“Her who?” Seokjin looks around.
“Gayoon, Eunmi’s teacher.”
For a second, I am sure that I am imagining things but as I watch her throw her head back while laughing, I am positive that it is Gayoon – it’s just not the Gayoon I saw a few days ago. This Gayoon has fairly shorter and curly hair – she had pretty long hair the other day. And this Gayoon is definitely not wearing the casual clothes Gayoon from the other day was wearing – unless a tight, black dress can count as casual. I’m a guy – what do I know?
“Wait, which girl are you talking about?” Seokjin asks as he leans into me, wanting a better view.
“Shoulder length hair, black dress.”
“Holy shit!” he yells and for a second, I forget we’re in a night club and my blood freezes, thinking that Gayoon must have heard him. “That’s Eunmi’s teacher?! No wonder you’re dying to live out a teacher kink!”
“She’s not MY teacher, you idiot!” I smack him on the shoulder, making him laugh out loud. I’m not laughing – this is becoming too much. “It’s not like that.”
“Looking at her, it should be like that,” Seokjin comments.
“You don’t get it,” I shake my head – of course Seokjin would not get it. He’s been in love once and after that particular train wreck, he hasn’t bothered looking for anything other than easy sex. “Yeah, she’s pretty and yeah she’s hot but she’s actually nice and friendly and most importantly, good with Eunmi.”
“You don’t know what you want,” Seokjin shakes his head.
“Yeah, because I can’t develop a proper interest into someone after like… a few hours spent with them! Just as I don’t want to have a one night stand with my daughter’s teacher! Of course I don’t know what I want – I might not even want anything and am just confused! I don’t know what I want and it would be very weird if I did!” I yell over the music.
“Well, I think she knows what she wants,” he nods his head and when I look back to Gayoon, I can see what he means – she’s definitely closer to one of the guys in her group than she was just seconds ago. They are dancing together, they’re bodies almost completely pressed together, his hands on her hips as they sway together, much too slow for the beat that’s threatening to make my brain explode.
“Oh.”
“Yeah, oh,” Seokjin rolls his eyes. “Go there! Say hi! Talk to her! Dance with her! Get to her before he does!” he tries to push me away from our booth but I stay frozen, shaking my head.
“Nah, I just told you. I don’t know what I want and judging by that,” I wave my hand to her and the guy she is dancing with. “It’s a bit too late anyways.”
I have no right to sulk, I know that very well. Not once did Gayoon show any signs of being interested in me in any way other than a teacher-parent one, perhaps a friendly one too. She did not flirt, she did not say anything that would make me wonder if it has a double meaning and let’s not forget about the crushed mistletoe. Not to mention that I haven’t done anything either – of course I didn’t, I just think I might kind of like her.
I have no right to sulk at the sight of her expressing interest in another man and even though I try to fight it, I know I end up pouting, sitting in the booth and glaring towards them, sipping on the shitty cocktail Seokjin insisted on buying for me.
“You’re a complete idiot,” is Seokjin’s conclusion he reaches while looking at me in disappointment.
“Maybe I am.”
15 minutes after the clock strikes midnight and the whole club drunkenly yells New Year’s greetings – that’s the time limit I’ve given myself. Long enough to not seem rude, just enough to not lose my mind.
“You’re actually leaving?” Seokjin once again looks disappointed. As bad as I feel, he had it coming. He knew I was not going to enjoy myself, he knew this is not my scene in any way. As bad as I feel for leaving him, one – I know he won’t miss me and 2 – he should be the one to feel bad for dragging me out to begin with.
“I handled it for as long as I could. Happy New Year, brother,” I pat him on the back and make my way through the ocean of bodies, towards the exit. I don’t look back, not to Seokjin, not to Gayoon.
I made a point of not looking her way for as long as I have been in the club – staring at her just seemed a bit too creepy, especially given that she was obviously pretty close to hooking up with the guy she was dancing with. It felt creepy, wrong and uncomfortable – so I decided to simply not look her way while I was there. I doubt she saw me but if she did, she made no move to approach me.
Outside, the weather and the atmosphere is hellish – snow started falling again and I obviously wasn’t the only one with the thoughts of leaving early – one by one, groups of people were getting into lined up taxis, while others were waiting for the next ones to drive by. Imagining the price I’ll have to pay for the drive back home on New Year’s Eve felt like a punch to the gut.
“Jeongguk?!”
Oh crap.
I want to hide, I really do. Maybe it would be believable if I don’t respond? It’s pretty crowded, I think I can play it off as if I hadn’t heard her. “Jeongguk!” her voice is raised now, as she is obviously certain that she’s not imagining things. I can’t hide.
I turn around, pretending to look confused and I see her walking my way, still in that short sleeved dress, looking as if she’s freezing her butt of, but still smiling at me. She even has blue highlights in her hair. I don’t know what happened to Gayoon from the other day.
“Oh! Hi! Hey! Happy New Year!” I sound like an idiot to myself but really, what else can I do?
“Happy New Year!” she beams up at me as she stops a few feet away. “Were you here the whole night?”
“Yeah, my brother dragged me out,” I roll my eyes. “I am escaping now. You’re leaving too?” I ask, noticing that the guy she was dancing with doesn’t seem to be around.
“No, not yet – I’m here with Jimin and a group of our friends, I can’t leave without them,” she explains. “I just thought I needed a bit of fresh air, after one too many tequila shots,” she adds, although she doesn’t appear to be drunk at all. “In hindsight, stupid idea – it’s freezing.”
“What happened to… No, never mind,” I stop myself at the last moment.
“What happened to what?”
“No, nothing.”
“Jeongguk, don’t be that person,” she laughs. “I hate it when people do that. Spill it.”
“What happened to cold never bothering you anyway?” I utter my lame joke, watching as she frowns in confusion – it takes her a moment to realize what exactly I’m referring to but when she finally connects the dots, she seems equally amused and pissed.
“I hate you,” she tries to sound serious but I can tell she’s fighting off a smile.
“You set yourself up for that one,” I laugh. We might not be friends now, hell, we might not even be friends in the future, but after our meeting, I am forever entitled to make Frozen jokes on her expense.
“The price I pay,” she sighs before smiling again. “Anyways, I’d better go inside before I turn into Olaf,” it’s a bad joke but I still laugh – that’s what she’s making me do now. I’m laughing at fairly stupid jokes. This isn’t good. “I’ll see you around. Happy New Year Jeongguk.”
“Happy New Year Gayoon,” I smile, waving at her once before she wobbles back inside the club, still trying to keep herself warm with her arms wrapped around her body – she’s right, it was stupid to go outside in this weather without a jacket. I should have offered her mine.
On the drive back to my place, I stare through the window and watch all the drunk, well-dressed people stumbling around, laughing, hugging one another. I watch and wonder when that stopped being me. I wonder if even I miss that being me.
The only conclusion I could come up with is that maybe Seokjin was right after all. Maybe I am a complete idiot.

My OCs as Fae
Amasa: Corrupted Seraph; A once Elite Angel with several pairs of wings and an Army of heavenly creatures to command. He was greatly respected, not quite the General, but close to it. One day, after a battle with Demons, he and a few others were tending to wounds over a pint. An argument broke out, leading to Amasa driving his sword through their middle. He was swiftly thrown from the clouds and onto the mortal plane. His wings ripping and tearing on his way down. He spends his days wandering the land, still slaying Demons that threaten humans.
AJ: Flesh; A normal looking Faery with long nails and sharp teeth that hide behind a bubbly smile. Her psyche is a little fragile as a negative emotion or the sight of blood with flip her bloodlust switch. She hides out in the deep wood in her cottage, only leaving to carry out her murderous tendencies. She tries to stick to mostly animals, deer and elk that roam free. But the call of human and Fae hearts pulls her to society. Wherein she forces people to walk with her home and will rip open their chest alive with a high pitched laugh. She can also control bodies by manipulating their blood.
Melanie: Wolf; A friendly and protective Shapeshifter that takes the form of a giant wolf. She has her friends as her pack, even though they're all different from her. She can change at will, but usually tries to keep it at night to prevent humans from hunting her. Very loyal and energetic, if she considers you a friend she will do anything for you. In her human form, she retains her canine eyes and pointed ears.
Minhyuk: Troll; A short, pale skinned creature that is tasked with guarding bridges. He keeps to himself and uses selfmade potions to ward off passerbyes rather than deal with them face to face. He's super shy and prefers just hiding under then bridge at all times. Igs hard getting him out into the open.
Samuel: Gorgon; With the torso of a man and the lower body that of a giant snake, he is one of the biggest Faeries alive. He spends most of his days slithering through the heavy wood and marsh lands, preying on humans that try to slip past his gaze. He likes to play with his food, wrapping his purple scaled body around their fleshy ones, squeezing until their eyes pop. He does have the ability for his gaze to turn on to stone, but doesn't bother. Why eat a rock when he can swallow someone alive?
Eunmi: Fire Nymph; Created at the base of an erupting volcano, this Red skinned Faery is the paramount of beauty. She is usually found by ashed remains of forests, she being the one that set it ablaze firstly. She plays around with men that try to catch her, sometimes flicking embers onto their feet or disappearing into sunlight. When not toying with men, she drinks with other nymphs, enjoying herself to the fullest.
Kyungah: Kelpie; A water horse that often takes form of a Human girl, she walks the shores of her beach, waiting for an unfortunate soul to be lured in to the waters. She drowns those who think they'll be lucky enough to court her. Still refusing to kill children, she will save them from her waters dark depth and carry them to shore, choosing to drown the neglectful parents instead. she passes her time watching sailors and mermaids mingle.
Lilith: Changeling; A Fae child, glamoured as a human at birth and swapped for their place. She has gone through her life knowing she is different but not truly how. All she knows is she has a weird allergy to iron and has a really vivid imagination.
Siren: Siren; A half woman, half bird that sits upon the rocky shores of islands and sings sailors to their deaths. She has green and blue feathered wings and yellow eyes. She talks to her Kelpie and Mermaid friends in between devouring the bodies of men. She takes time to herself every once in a while and ventures into the islands landscapes.
Charlie: Elven: An Old, Tall and Wise Elf that spends his days dping research into the world around him. He is Uncourted but will sell his findings to whoever pays the most and can actually benefit from his discovery. He is a famous Author for potions and Spells. He usually stays inside his cottage, mixing various ingredients together and record their reactions. Often enough, he goes out and studies fhe Fae around him. He's particularly fond of the murderous one that sneaks past his home.

Finding Cinderella | Series | Chapter Four
Title: Finding Cinderella
Pairings: Donghae x reader,(Primary) Heechul x reader (Secondary), Kyuhyun x reader (Secondary)
Author’s Note: I have been planning this story for a while but have been battling many writers’ blocks in doing so. This story will mainly focus on Donghae and the reader but will have branching stories between Heechul, Kyuhyun and two secondary OC characters.
Sidenote: Yes, this series will include Kangin and Sungmin. This was originally started back when the two of them were still active members and in my heart they will always be members so I will include them wherever I see fit.
“Cheers!”
Both girls smiled as they clinked their shot glasses with a clear sound before pouring it down in one shot. After Eunmi finished work they met up by a little food and soju stall not far from her office there the two regularly met up if their planning allowed it for some much needed mindless fun.
“Ah… You have no idea how much I needed this!” Miya stretched her arms above her head with a soft groaning sound before reaching out for a piece of dukbokki. “I have been living on coffee and power bars for the last week!”
“That bad, huh?” Eunmi mused as she reached over for the bottle and poured in some more in both their glasses.
“Are you kidding?! I swear, they just decided to fit as much new stuff in the last week before exams and just expect you to catch up on time!” She slammed her fist onto the table as a growl escaped her lips, “It’s like they want us to fail!”
“Are you sure it’s not because you’ve been dozing off during lectures and now realize that the things they tried to teach you were actually kind of important?” The redhead snickered as she twirled the piece of dukbokki in front of her own face thoughtfully. Knowing her friend, especially from the brief time they spent together taking the same classes, her mind was usually everywhere except with the class.
“Yah!” The dark haired girl glared at her friend as she casually kicked her leg underneath the table. “You hush and be glad you don’t have to deal with that stress anymore!”
“Oh, like I’m living the lazy dream,” Eunmi scoffed, finally stuffing the piece of dukbokki in her mouth and chewing on it with a soft hum before continuing. “I have been on my feet running all over the place for the last couple of weeks trying to get stuff arranged for that party event.”
“At least at the end of it all you get to attend your own party!”
“You mean, I will get the honor of supervising the party,” A sigh escaped her lips as the realisation hit her hard. Sure, the party was meant for artists, celebrities, fans AND staff but since working for the company she couldn’t remember a single instance in which she was able to enjoy any event they organised. If she was even present, she was busy running around armed with a clipboard and her Bluetooth headset.
“Didn’t you say it was held on your day off, before?”
“Yes, but I think I’ll just not attend instead,” She pursed her lips thoughtfully, mindlessly poking a piece of food with her plastic fork. ”The moment they see me, they can’t help but ask me to do stuff.”
“So?” Miya’s brow shot up as her eyes focused on the piece of dukbokki her friend had been poking, reaching over with her own fork as she tried to push her friend’s away. “Just tell them no, it’s your day off and it’s your right to party hard with the idols!”
“And lose my job? No thanks!” She let out a soft laugh, quickly followed by a cringing whine as she sunk in her seat. “And I think it’s better if I don’t bump into any idols anymore… I make such a fool out of myself.”
“Hah!” Miya exclaimed proudly as she had succeeded in sticking her fork in the dukbokki and held it up in triumph, happily showing it into her mouth. “Anymore? Hold up, who did you bump and how did it feel?!”
“I don’t want to talk about it...”
“Ya~ah! As your best friend and wifey I have a right to know if I’m going to lose you to a famous hottie or not!” Miya protested as she once again stomped her hand onto the table, almost knocking over the glasses of soju in the process.
“Oh, now you’re my wifey again?” Eunmi stared at her skeptically, “But when I ask you to buy my coffee you suddenly don’t know I even exist!”
“Hey! I am a poor college kid, I barely have time to buy myself coffee, let alone buy yours too!”
“I was going to pay you back later that day!” Eunmi clicked her tongue. “And so you choose your own needs over your wifey? Aishhh, this is the person I married?”
“Yes, and until you tell me what guy I have to give you away to, you’re stuck with me!” She grinned proudly as she pointed her fork at Eunmi. “So, spill.”
Eunmi let out another groan as she recalled the moment in her head, the embarrassment rushing over her once again. “I… Ugh… I made a complete fool out of myself...”
“Yes, we’ve established that. What happened?”
“Well, I was asked to order some food for Super Junior by their manager as they were reviewing the entries for the invitation event...” Eunmi explained, so far in the story nothing weird had happened. “And when I came back for delivery, their manager slammed the door into me and I almost fell… come to think of it it might have been better if I did fall...”
“Yes, because falling on your butt with take out delivery scattered on the floor would be better than… what, exactly?” Miya couldn’t quite follow how anything could be worse or more embarrassing than face planting in front of a group of world star idols, much less if food was involved.
“Instead I fell into… him...” She cringed as the moment replayed in her mind. Her skin tingling as she could once again feel his hands on her shoulders, the warmth of his chest supporting her tumble.
“Like… On top of him? Both asses down on the ground? Yours coincidentally but strategically placed on--”
“YAH!” Eunmi interrupted her friend loudly, which caused some of the other guests to stare their way, the redhead quickly sinking back into her seat. No, if the scenario her friend was implying had really happened she would have never been able to show her face anywhere ever again. She’d probably get fired, too. “Nothing like that, aish… I just… He caught me in my fall and then I just… zoned out.”
“Zoned out like zombie zoned out? Drool dripping down your chin zoned out?”
“Can you take this seriously, please?” Eunmi huffed, glaring at her friend across the table.
“Sorry, but you’re so vague… If you don’t fill in the blanks then I’m forced to let my imagination do so and well… The results may differ from reality.”
Finally, Miya shot up in her seat as Eunmi proceeded to punish her comment with a firm kick against the shin. With a pout curling her bottom lip, she rubbed the spot that got hit before reaching out for more food to ease the pain.
“It wasn’t even me bumping into him that was so embarrassing… It was…” She bit her lower lip as she thought back again. The way his eyes felt like they were staring straight into her soul, taking away all confidence and making her heart stop beating for the slightest of seconds. It was something she had never experienced before. A feeling she couldn’t quite place, like she wasn’t herself. “Aish… He must have thought I was such a nuisance to say the least… And how could I possibly have thought for even a second that he was complimenting me?! AISHHH!” She ran her hands through her hair in frustration as she started scolding herself for losing her composure.
“Please, like you’re the first person to get weak in the knees before him? He’s an idol, he’s used to it.” She laughed softly, shaking her head. “By the way, who is this he we’re speaking of here?”
“Yeah, but I work for the company. I’m the most reliable source they have, I can’t just get all uncomfortable just because some random guy stared at me...” She huffed, quickly downing her shot of soju as she needed something bitter to punish herself and get her mind out of the cloud of embarrassment and self-cringing she was in. “Lee Donghae is the he we are speaking of.”
“Oh! The fishboy!”
“He’s not a fish.”
“Isn’t that his nickname, though?” Miya frowned as she tried to recall what her friend had once rambled about. She wasn’t a big Super Junior fan herself, or at least not as big as Chanhee for example. She appreciated their musicality and found their appearances on stage or television rather amusing but she couldn’t exactly be placed in the ELF fandom just yet.
“I suppose...” Eunmi shrugged, a lot less interested in his nickname as she was in pouring herself another shot.
“And he complimented you?”
“Nah, he complimented the pizza and chicken...” Eunmi pursed her lips as she remembered how awkward she felt when he pointed that out himself. Of course he was talking about the food.
Miya stared at her friend before bursting out in laughter, so much so that she had to hold onto the table as to not fall off her chair. “Oh man!” She breathed in between laughter. “You got… food-zoned!”
“Yah! I did not get food-zoned!” she pouted as her friend kept laughing. “There is no such thing!”
“If there wasn’t then you guys just invented it!” She continued her laughing fit as Eunmi poured down her shot in frustration, a constant pout on her face. “What if he went back to his members and talked about you?” She wiped away the tears that rolled down her cheek from laughing as she leaned in, lowering her voice so slightly to resemble a man. “Ay, I just bumped into the weirdest chick ever. She stared at me all googly eyes and thought I complimented her on smelling nice when really… I was falling in love with chicken! How weird!” Another round of laughter rolled down her throat as leaned back, clutching her stomach as it was starting to hurt.
“Aishhh...” Eunmi felt even more miserable now that she mentioned it, sinking even lower in her seat If she were lucky, he had forgotten all about what happened or the way she looked at him back there. Out of sight, out of mind, right?
After finishing their food and the bottles of soju they ordered, the two friends parted ways.
Miya couldn’t help but stumble her way over to the nearest convenient store, drinking soju always made her hungry even if she drank it with a meal and she was in dire need of some delicious instant ramen. It also didn’t help that it was one of the few things she was still able to afford, being the poor college student that she was.
She had her hoodie pulled over her head to shield her from the cold, waddling slightly as the alcohol managed to throw her balance off just a tad. She wasn’t drunk, tipsy at best but the ability of walking in a straight line had long since disappeared.
Humming softly and with exaggerated steps, she turned the corner to enter the convenient store and found herself slamming into something, or rather someone. Her head collided with something hard, immediately snapping her out of her thoughts as she stumbled back and promptly landed on her butt, accompanied by the sound of cans dropping onto the cold hard floor.
“Aishh...” She muttered with her eyes pinched close as she tried to ignore the ringing in her ears after headbutting whatever it was she hit, rubbing the spot roughly as if to wipe the pain away. “Stupid lamp post”
“Yah, who are you calling a lamp post?!”
The rough voice hissing at her surprised her, as she finally opened her eyes. Her gaze was on the ground first, noticing the cans of beer, packed ramen and cat food scattered around on the floor as she then began to note the shadow cast down on the floor beside it. Following the shadow lead to a pair of black sneakers belonging to a black haired, averagely built young man. He wasn’t too big nor too small, he didn’t seem to be extremely muscular but he wasn’t scrawny either. His face was partially covered by his black mask but his dark glare shot daggers straight through her heart.
“Ah… I’m… Sorry...” She mumbled as she got up from the floor, collecting some of his groceries that had falling because of their collision.
“Sorry?” He muttered back, his voice muffled behind his mask. “Aish… What is your head made off? Wood?” Rubbing his own head painfully, she could hear him groan ever so slightly.
“Yah... ” She began as she held out the groceries to him. “Your head is pretty hard too, I thought I bumped into a lamp post...”
“Do I look like a lamp post to you?” He hissed as he grabbed the groceries out of her hands in a hasty manner. He glared at her again before checking if everything he bought was still in order. “Watch where you’re going next time! Or don’t go on a stroll when you’re drunk!”
“Drunk? I’m not drunk! I am perfectly sober!” She protested, at first she felt sorry for bumping into him as she knew she was walking a bit too fast and reckless for it to feel like a simple nudge, but the way he was scolding her didn’t suit her at all. “You’re to blame too! Who walks out of a store without looking?!”
“Please, I could smell the soju from a mile away!” He replied with a soft scoff accompanying his words as Miya sneakily tried to smell her own breath to see if he was right. “Me? Who enters a store without politely waiting for all other people to exit?!”
“Aish!” She clicked her tongue as she averted her gaze, trying her best not to stomp his foot out of frustration. Typical guy behavior, always blaming it on someone else. “I hope my head left a bump!”
“This punk!” He growled. “Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?”
“Yeah,” She replied with full confidence. “A reckless brat, that’s who! Calling me drunk when you’re the one carrying beer! Aish!”
“At least I am old enough to drink!” He growled back. “You’re lucky I was in a good mood before this...” He seemed to be threatening her, the attitude with which he spoke didn’t help his case either.
Miya wanted to respond when another voice from across the street caught their attention.
“Hyung! Hurry! It’s cold!” Both pair of eyes gazed over to the person waving on the other side, he looked a tad smaller than the man she bumped into, the light too dim for her to get a good look at his face but his tone of voice sounded a lot friendlier than the stranger she was arguing with.
“You got lucky...punk!” He growled as he passed her, not helping himself as he nudged his shoulder against hers as he did.
Miya glared after him. “Yeah? Well…. L-lamp post!” She called after him, not being able to come up with a better insult at the moment. She hissed to herself as she turned around and stomped into the convenience store. “Aishh...”
“You look angry, Heechul hyung...” Donghae stared at the older male’s face as he casually draped his arm over his shoulders. “What happened? Did that girl reject you?”
“Please!” Heechul immediately bit back, still feeling irritated by his unfortunate encounter. “I wouldn’t give a person like her the time of day!”
“That bad, huh?” The younger male couldn’t help but chuckle as he lowered his arm, nudging him in the side. “Why did you give you that adorable nickname then? Lamp post hyung?”
“Aish, this punk… Are you asking to be punched?” He stopped, turning to glare at the younger male who couldn’t stop grinning as he dared to tease the almighty Heechul. Donghae was probably one of the only people who could nag and annoy him and get away with it, but that didn't mean he wouldn’t retaliate with some sort of threat.
“You wouldn’t,” Donghae grinned proudly as he continued walking. “Lamp post hyung loves me too much!”
“Yah! Lee Donghae-yah!”

Dirt. Dirt. Dirt.
So much dirt covering her once grey fur turning it brown.
A bath was needed as soon as possible.
These are Eumni’s thoughts as she trots down the middle of the wet road before turning into an alley. Moving further into the dark, she ducks under cables and leaps carefully over barbed wire that the alley was filled with. Reaching the other side, she peers around before trotting across the road and into another alley.
At the very back of the alley, she sits and begins bathing herself with her tongue, trying to remove a layer or two of the dirt coating her body.
A black cat, named Minho, hops down from a higher place and lands softly beside her. It sniffs her then nips at her ear. In response, Eunmi swipes at the black cat with a hiss.
Felix, a lighter cat, jumps between them as a growl is heard from the dark.
From the shadows of the alley, a wolf steps out. Its ears are pinned back in annoyance.
Eunmi rolls her eyes as much as a cat can before stepping away from the black cat and closer to the wolf. Twining between the wolf’s front legs, she lets out a meow.
The wolf leans its head down and sniffs the top of the Eunmi’s head then licks it. The dirty cat purrs as the wolf cleans it, eyes closing in bliss. The wolf’s tongue could reach a lot more of her body quicker than her tongue or her paw.
There’s a sudden yip from the opening, causing all the animals in the alley to freeze.
A fennec fox dashes into the alley and yips again before darting into the hole in the wall. Eunmi is the first to follow it with the other two cats on her heels. The wolf is left outside to survey the surrounding area. Its swiveling ears catch the sound of wheels screeching to a halt prompting it to shimmy into the hole after the other animals.
Moments after the alley empties, four men rush into the alley. They’re all dressed in dark uniforms with white letters on the back stating “HCA”. Each of them carries a pole with a loop on the end, designed to catch animals by the neck.
“They were just here!”
“They couldn’t have gone far!”
“Check for holes!”
“I found one!”
Clicking on a flashlight, one of the men inspects the hole the five animals had disappeared into. A scan with the light shows the inside of an abandoned warehouse with the animals nowhere to be found.
“Let’s check the inside of this warehouse.”
“We’ll need to get permission first.”
“It’s abandoned.”
“We don’t need any infractions against us.”
“Call the local authorities then.”
On the other side of the warehouse, five young adults, four males and one female, sneak out of the warehouse through a side door. Each of them wears dirty and torn baggy clothes with beanies and sunglasses. Although tense, they walk calmly away from the warehouse and to a park a short distance away.
Eunmi, adjusting her beanie, glances around warily. “We should split up. They’ll be looking for us together.”
One of the boys, one with bits of blonde and brown hair peeking out of his beanie, shakes his head. “Not a good idea, Mi. If we’re together, we can take them. Alone, they’ll snatch us right up.”
“If we’re careful, they won’t.”
The youngest looking of the group looks around. “Whatever we decide, we should do it soon. The catchers aren’t far.”
“Chan, we need to split up. Minho, Felix, and I can blend very easily. You and Innie, not so much. You two need to find somewhere to hide.”
Chan sighs. “Fine. Just be careful.”
Everyone nods.
“We’ll meet up in a day or so at the safe house across town.”
“The others too?”
“Yes. We’ll make sure everyone is there.”
The female nods. “Okay.”
Chan freezes as he hears a truck nearby then relaxes when he sees a delivery truck pass by. “Okay. Let’s split up now. I’m getting anxious.”
The five split. Chan and one of the males go one way, the other two males go another way and Eunmi goes off on her own.
Eunmi strolls through town, keeping an ear out for any signs of the catchers.
Entering a crowded area, her stomach grumbles. The aroma of food surrounding the area makes her stomach tighten and her mouth water.
Looking around, she zeroes in on a platter of chicken sitting on a table not even 100 feet from her. The table was occupied by a brown-and-cream-haired hybrid who had a phone pressed to his ear. He didn’t appear to be paying attention to his food.
Taking a step forward, Eumni keeps her gaze on the hybrid. The closer she steps the more her mouth salivates at the thought of eating hot food.
Her hand is reaching out to grab the platter, or even just one piece, when it’s grabbed.
“What are you doing?”
The voice comes from the hybrid, who she had stupidly taken her eyes off of.
He stares at her, waiting for an answer, her wrist firmly in his grip.
Eunmi never gets to answer as her stomach rumbles loudly.
The hybrid’s face instantly changes and he releases her wrist before pushing the food to her. “You’re hungry. I’m sorry. I should have guessed from your attire. Have this, please.”
Eyes darting between the hybrid and the food, Eunmi cautiously pulls the platter closer. She sits down across from the hybrid and begins eating, physically holding herself back from shoveling the food into her mouth.
The hybrid’s voice is significantly quieter when he says, “Do you need somewhere to stay?”
Eunmi’s eyes narrow behind her sunglasses.
“That sounded creepy and totally like a ploy. I’m sorry. I just can see that you’re in need and my owner and I like to take care of people.”
At the mention of an owner, Eunmi begins shaking her head. She would go nowhere near a human that could turn her in.
The hybrid looks sheepish. “I promise I’m not trying to lure you to a center. From your reaction, I’m guessing you don’t like owners. That’s okay. My owner is out of town for the next few days. You can come stay at our place, clean yourself up, sleep comfortably, and then decide whether or not you want to stay.”
“I just met you.”
He smiles. “Hybrids can trust one another.”
Pulling her sunglasses off, Eunmi meets his gaze and holds it. “I don’t trust anyone outside my pack.”
He seems to startle a bit at her use of the word pack but has a smile back on his face a second later. “That’s fair, but I’m not out to hurt you. I want to help.”
“You can help by forgetting that you saw me.”
As Eunmi stands to leave, she catches sight of a group of catchers entering the square.
“Damn it.”
The other hybrid is suddenly on his feet. “Please come with me. I promise you’ll be safe.”
Eunmi turns to look at him. His face is scrunched and his eyes dart from her to the other side of the square where the catchers are. “Fine.”
He grabs her hand, pulling her behind him as he makes his way out of the square and down the street. “Our apartment isn’t far.”
Nodding, Eunmi lets him guide her to a modern-looking apartment building. It’s cleaner than any place she’s ever stayed in with the exception of the adoption center that she was born into.
Once inside, he leads her to an elevator and presses the button for the sixth floor.
“The catchers won’t look here. This complex is protective of hybrid residents and doesn’t allow catchers on the property unless they have a warrant.”
Eunmi’s eyes widen. She had heard of such places, but they seemed like a dream.
The elevator opens to a woodsy smelling hallway. There was a door across from the elevator that the hybrid with Eunmi ignores, instead of heading down the hall to another door, this one with a little cartoon Siamese cat on it. Under the cat, it says, “Beware: the cat will judge.”
The hybrid chuckles. “That’s my owner’s doing after I judged one too many of his outfit choices.”
Eunmi giggles. “Your human sounds nice.”
“He is. A bit neurotic about things staying clean, but then again, so am I.”
Walking up to the door, the hybrid unlocks it and pushes it open, stepping inside before waving Eunmi forward.
“Ten? Is that you?”
Eunmi freezes midstep. There was a human. A human who could see her and report her and then she’ll be taken to a center and brainwashed. No. She can’t let that happen.
Turning, she dashes down the hallway and then another and ends up at a set of stairs. Scurrying up down them, she pants as she runs through the lobby of the complex.
There’s a shout behind her so she quickens her steps, pushing through the large door of the complex as she hears the hybrid behind her, yelling for her to stop.
Once outside, her eyes dart back and forth before they land on an alley. Making her way quickly to it, she hides in the darkness and reverts to her animal form. Finding a box, she curls up as tight as she can and hides from the shouting she hears.
The next few weeks make Eunmi wish she had sucked it up and stayed with the hybrid and his owner. At least then she would have been clean.
Meeting up at the safe house went fine, all things considered. It was chaotic, though, with so many strays there.
“Why are there so many here?” Eunmi wonders aloud. “There’s usually not this many.”
“One of our other safe houses was raided yesterday.” One of the organizers says. “It has everyone on high alert.”
Chan sighs. “That’s the second one this month. Where are they getting this information?”
“The hybrids they took into the centers. I’ve heard they have mind control devices that can make someone answer whatever they ask.”
Minho scoffs. “Mind control? As if they’re that advanced. They still think they can catch us with those stupid snare poles.”
The organizer shrugs. “It’s what I’ve heard. Whatever’s going on inside those centers is starting to flush us all out. I would stay away from all safe houses for the foreseeable future.”
Eunmi frowns. “But how will we get supplies?”
“I don’t know. We barely have enough here for this crowd. The same goes for the rest of the operational safe houses. I’m sorry, but you’ll have to fend for yourself tonight.”
That led to a night of dozing in alleyways only to run anytime someone caught sight of them or made a noise. Some of the alleyways were downright disgusting with rats running around and garbage cans overflowing. Others were decent, but those were the ones the pack were most apprehensive in.
The third truck of the night passes by the alleyway, making the five hybrids in the freeze.
“I don’t like this,” Eunmi says, pulling on the hem of her shirt. “It’s too nice.”
“I agree,” Minho says, looking around. “There are no cameras either.”
“There should definitely be cameras for this nice of an alley,” Chan says, eyes narrowing. “Let’s go. We’ll find somewhere else.”
As the five stand to prepare to leave, a door opens not too far from them and a human steps out with a bag of garbage in her hand. Spotting them, she gasps.
The five take off in a mad dash for the other side of the alley. The door smacks shut behind them, propelling them forward faster.
Entering the street, Jeongin, their youngest, yelps as a car screeches to a halt, narrowly avoiding hitting him. Pulling his arm, Eunmi pushes him ahead of her as the driver of the car steps out.
In the next alley, the five hurry to climb up the fire escape and get as high as possible. The make it to the roof and hide behind two giant air ducts.
“That was too close,” Eunmi whines.
Chan, catching his breath, nods. “We may have to split up again.”
Felix groans. “I don’t like that. The last time we did that, Minho and I were almost picked up by animal control.”
Minho frowns. “It might not have been a bad idea to go with them. We seem like regular animals in our animal forms, so we could, theoretically, go to an animal shelter and stay there for a while. If we get adopted, we can just run away.”
Chan shakes his head. “Too risky. Some of us have microchips.”
“You mean Eunmi. Eunmi has a microchip. The rest of us don’t.”
Eunmi huffs. “Sorry my owner was mean enough to put a chip in me.”
“You can survive out here. Me and Felix should let animal control take us.”
“I don’t like that idea,” Felix protests, shaking his head. “Both leaving Eunmi and getting taken. So many things could go wrong.”
“Do you have a better plan?”
Felix, as it turns out, did not. Neither did Chan for that matter, which surprised all of them. So Minho went ahead with his plan.
The four of them watched from afar as Minho pretended to be hurt from a cut he had given himself. Attracting the attention of nearby citizens, animal control is called and Minho is taken in.
The last they see of him is his limp feline form being placed into a carrier which is then put in the back of a van.
“So what now?”
The question takes a while to answer.
Chan is finally the one to say something. “We lay low. Hide in places we know are safe. Stay out of sight.”
Nodding, Eunmi stands. “I’m gonna see if I can scrounge us up something to eat.”
“Be careful.”
“Yes, dad.”
Chan chuckles. “Go.”
Walking out of the alley, Eunmi adjusts her beanie before shifting into animal form. Wandering around, she comes to a stop in front of a delicious smelling alley.
Curious, she shuffles forward, hiding behind a dumpster.
At the end of the alley, she can see a hybrid, just as dirty as her, ravenously tearing into a plate of food. The food appears to be fresh, by both its appearance and smell.
Stalking closer, she sniffs at the aroma wafting towards her, only to freeze when she hears a low growl.
The hybrid’s voice is garbled and rough as it says. “Get out of here, stupid cat. I’m not sharing.”
Eunmi warily shifts back to her human form. “Please. I haven’t eaten in days.”
“You think I have?! This is my first meal in months and I’m not sharing it with you, you little brat.”
“Please-”
Eunmi’s words are cut off with a painful slice to her cheek.
The hybrid had moved without Eunmi realizing it and now stood face to face with Eunmi, its claws on full display and face twisted up in a sneer.
“I said I’m not sharing. Get lost, brat.”
Holding a hand up to her bleeding cheek, Eunmi stands up straight. “I’m sorry for bothering you.”
Turning, Eunmi jogs out of the alley, keeping her cheek covered.
As she exits the alley, she runs into someone, causing her to stumble. She’s caught by the arm, which hurt a bit, so she doesn’t actually fall.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t-” The familiar voice cuts off.
Looking up, Eunmi internally sighs when she sees the hybrid from a few days ago.
“It’s you! Are you okay? You ran out in a rush. I’m sorry about that by the way. I didn’t know-” He suddenly stops. “You’re hurt.”
She shrugs him off. “I’m fine.”
“You need to have that looked at.”
“I said I’m fine.”
“I know a really nice hybrid doctor. Please let me take you to him.”
Eunmi backs up a step, shaking her head. “A doctor will call the catchers.”
“He won’t! He helps strays! I promise. Please. I don’t want you getting sick.”
“It’s a scratch. I won’t get sick from a scratch.”
“You could. All sorts of nasty things can happen if something like that gets infected.”
“Fine. Fine. Okay. Only to the doctor though. And I get to leave as soon as I’m uncomfortable.”
“Of course!” The hybrid smiles. “Now let’s go!”
The hybrid clinic was too sterile in Eunmi’s honest opinion. She couldn’t smell anything, not even other hybrids or humans. For being in the lobby of an establishment that hybrids frequented, she should smell at least a trace of one of them.
“They use a lot of scent blockers,” the hybrid says, smiling. “As calming as some scents can be, most unfamiliar scents will stress a hybrid out so they just rid the entire place of scent. It’s disorienting, but it’s better that way.”
“Ten,” a soft, soothing voice says, coming from the doorway that must lead to the treatment area. “What are you doing here?”
When Eunmi looks over, she has to resist the urge to purr. The doctor looked classically handsome even if he didn’t look Korean. He also looked like he would give the best head scratches.
“My friend is hurt,” Ten, the hybrid you’ve been with, says. “Do you think you could take a look at her wounds?”
The bunny-looking doctor looks at you. “Of course. I assume this is to stay off the record?”
“Yes. She’s very adamant about not being discovered.”
“I understand. Sichengie was the same way when I first found him.” The doctor turns to Eunmi. “Hello. I’m Dr. Qian. Would you be okay following me to an exam room?”
Eunmi glances at Ten then looks back at the doctor. “I guess.”
He steps to the side and holds out his arm, motioning for her to go ahead of him. When Eunmi hesitates, Ten grabs her hand and pulls her along with him to the back.
“On your left,” Dr. Qian supplies.
To your left is an open door with all the clinic things that Eunmi had seen in passing the few times he had been caught. It does nothing to ease her anxiety about being in the office.
Dr. Qian follows her and Ten into the room and closes the door before turning to her with a smile. “We’ll stick with cleaning your cheek, although I’d really like to give you a full examination.”
Eunmi, who had hopped up on the bed, shrinks back at the mention of an examination. “Please don’t. I’m healthy. I promise.”
“I’m not going to,” Dr. Qian soothes. “You look healthy, so I’ll just clean and bandage your cheek and then you can be on your way.”
“With me,” Ten states. “You’ll be coming home with me.”
Eunmi freezes. “I- But- No. Can’t. Human. Not safe.”
Dr. Qian is suddenly in front of her, cool hands placed on her cheeks. “Calm down for me, Eunmi. Deep breaths in and out.”
He leads her through a breathing exercise that slows her breathing and heart rate.
“Good. There we are,” he praises with a smile. He then turns to Ten. “Abide by her wishes, Tennie. I understand you want to help, but she’s obviously had a rough experience with humans. Pushing her into a situation where a human would have control over her is too far for her right now.”
“I just don’t like the idea of her being out on the streets any longer than she has to.”
“I have a pack,” Eunmi says, her voice barely audible. “We take care of each other.”
Ten sighs. “A pack is not enough. The catchers have been more aggressive about catching strays. I’m scared that you’ll end up in one of the centers and then I’ll never see you again.”
Eunmi blinks up at him. “You don’t know me. It doesn’t really matter that much.”
“I was in your place once. I don’t like when anyone has to go through it.”
“Ten is just looking out for you, Eunmi,” Dr. Qian says, smiling. “He did the same for my Sichengie. It’s a bit heavy-handed, but it’s the only way he knows that works.”
Eunmi looks between the doctor and Ten. “I’ll think about it.”
“Good.”
The doctor then draws her attention as he pulls out a bunch of medical stuff and gets to work cleaning her cheek. She has to hold Ten’s hand as Dr. Qian wipes her cheek off, even if he’s gentle. The disinfectant stings and makes her grip Ten’s hand even tighter, a whimper slipping out.
“Easy,” Dr. Qian soothes. “We’re almost done. I just need to bandage it.”
Eunmi relaxes her grip on Ten’s hand as the doctor carefully bandages her cheek.
“There. Since you got here right away, there’s very little chance of infection, but I would still watch for any swelling or weird appearance of the scabs. Make sure to let it breathe every day and apply an antibiotic ointment.”
Eunmi nods. “Okay.”
The doctor walks over to the sink and washes his hands. “I’ll leave you two to discuss things now. Please let me know when you leave.”
“We will,” Ten says, smiling.
With that, the doctor is out the door, leaving Eunmi and Ten alone in the room.
“Taeyong is the sweetest, most laid-back owner ever,” Ten informs her suddenly. “I honestly have more control over the house than he does.”
Eunmi frowns. “But he still sets the rules and tells you what you can and can’t do right?”
“Not really. Well, I mean, we have house rules, but those are for everyone that’s in the house, not just me.”
“That sounds too good to be true.”
“I told you, not everyone views us hybrids as pets with no brains. Taeyong knows I can take care of myself.”
Eunmi nods but isn’t convinced. There was no way that a human would let a hybrid have that much control.
“Sounds unrealistic, right?”
Nodding, Eunmi hops down from the bed. “I’ll give it a try.”
Ten’s smile is blinding. “You won’t regret it!”
The trip from the clinic to Ten and his owner’s apartment is short, even walking.
As they reach the correct floor and stand in front of the apartment door, Eunmi trembles.
“Hey, you okay?”
She looks up at Ten. “I just- I’m not sure about this.”
Ten smiles. “It’s okay to be nervous, to lash out, to be scared. I scratched Taeyong so many times when he first took me in. I was convinced, like you, that it was all this grand ruse to gain my trust so he could break me. But wanna know what happened? He took care of me. He kept me safe and healthy. He gave me the time and space I needed to heal but also let me know that he wasn’t giving up or turning on me.”
Eunmi scrubs a hand over her eyes where tears were starting to bubble up. “I’ll try. Just please don’t get upset if I’m slow to adjust. I’ve lived on the streets since I was a kitten.”
Ten nods. “Of course. I won’t and neither will Taeyong.”
“Then let’s do this.”
Opening the door, Ten lets Eunmi enter first. They both take their shoes off before making their way into the living room.
In the living room, a pink-haired ethereal looking man is sitting on one of the couches and doing something on his phone.
“Yong-ah! I’m back!”
The pink-haired man looks up and smiles. “I got worried when you didn’t come back right away, but now I see why.”
Ten moves so Eunmi is in front of him. “This is Eunmi. She needs somewhere to stay for a while.”
Nodding, the pink-haired man stands, walking over to them. “Hello, Eunmi. I’m Taeyong, Ten’s owner. That’s really just a title the government forces me to have. Ten’s a friend that lives with me. And you can be the same.”
Eunmi smiles, even if it is a bit shaky, at the kind words. “Thank you, Mr. Taeyong.”
Taeyong chuckles, shaking his head. “No need to be formal.”
Eunmi’s cheeks heat up. “Right.”
“If you’ll follow me, I’ll take you to the room you’ll be staying in.”
Following Taeyong to the steps, Eunmi realizes just how big the apartment Ten and Taeyong live in really is. The first floor is mostly an open plan, the only walls being the ones around the entryway. The second floor, from what she can see, has many doors, one of them cracked open to where she can see a toilet and a sink.
“Your room is beside Ten’s,” Taeyong informs her. “I’m on the other side of Ten, so if you need anything, feel free to come get one of us.”
Eunmi nods.
Taeyong smiles, opening up the door to the room that would be hers for however long she stayed. Eunmi is immediately in awe.
The room was nicer than any she had ever seen. The walls were a cream color and the floor was a plush white carpet. The bed looked incredibly comfortable if a bit bland. She couldn’t wait to sleep in it. There was a sliding door next to the bed and another door on the wall across from the bed which was open to reveal a bathroom.
“I’ll leave you to freshen up,” Taeyong says. “Grab Ten or I when you’re done so we can replace your bandages.”
Nodding, Eunmi watches as Taeyong leaves the room, shutting the door behind him.
Not even an hour later, Eunmi finds herself scrubbed clean and curled up comfortably in the softest bed she had ever laid in. She felt a sense of relief at finally being clean and a sense of contentment at finally having a full belly.
There’s also Ten’s scent on the clothes that she borrowed that is lulling her to sleep. The hybrid’s scent was a weird mix of calming and spicy and left Eunmi feeling warm inside. Ten had chuckled when she stuffed her nose into the collar of the shirt and mentioned that his friend Sicheng had the same reaction.
Eventually, she lets her body relax and her eyes slip closed.
