The Romance of Inao
The story of Inao originally comes from the Javanese and Malay Panji stories, centered around Prince Panji and Princess Kirana.
The stories have spread throughout SouthEast Asia and they have their own versions of the tales with different names for the characters.
I am going to focus on the Thai dance drama version where Prince Panji is called Inao.
Brace yourselves, this one is long and complicated and a lot of information is not easily available in English so it's not as complete as I would like it to be but here goes.
Inao is the son of the king of Kurepan
Bussaba/Kirana is the daughter of the king of Daha
At birth they are betrothed to each other
When Inao is 15, his grandmother passes away in the kingdom of Manya.
The kings of Kurepan and Daha send him to represent them at the funeral.
In Manya, Inao meets and falls in love with princess Jintara.
After the elaborate funeral celebrations are over, he wishes to stay in Manya with Jintara.
But his father orders him home and Inao leaves, after sending a lovelorn letter to Jintara.
At home in Kurepan, his father decides to speed up that marriage! (Clearly sensing trouble.)
But Inao refuses to go along with this plan and goes off hunting.
Having left the palace, he takes on a disguise, along with a few loyal followers and after an encounter with a bandit, he acquires two captured princesses.
They all head to Manya where the king happily welcomes him and Inao makes Jintara his wife.
Jintra, clearly drunk on love, decides to magnanimously invite the two princesses to be Inao’s concubines (polygmy was standard in this time.)
Inao’s father orders him to return home and marry Bussaba but Inao send’s word that he is no longer willing to go along with those plans.
The king of Daha felt slighted and angry and Bussaba too, felt shamed by Inao’s actions, although at this point, they had never actually met each other. (Can you guess what is going to happen?)
Rather recklessly, the king of Daha decides to marry her off to the next person that asks and the king of Joraka, famously ugly, promptly proposes, much to the King of Daha (and Bussaba’s) dismay. Unable to back out of his rash declaration, he reluctantly accepts the proposal.
But, plot twist, the king of Kamang Kuning ALSO wanted to marry Bussaba, because unlike Inao, he knew what she looked like and he was prepared to fight to have her.
Daha Vs Kamang Kuning
Fight!
The King of Daha was obliged to ask Kurepan for help (which must have sucked) and Inao was ordered to go to Daha and help the king sort out this mess since it was all his fault for backing out of the betrothal.
Jintara does not want Inao to go, fearing the worst but Inao decides that this is one summons that he cannot ignore. Perhaps a twinge of guilt at work there too. He promises to return though. (do you think he will?)
(now in SOME versions, an alternative situation occurs where poor Jintara is tricked away and murdered and Inao goes mad with grief for a time before finally regaining his senses when his original intended comes to save him. In this version poor Jintara is usually a commoner and so, sadly, easily got rid of.)
Inao rides in to the rescue and kills the king of Kamang Kuning.
Entering the palace of Daha to celebrate, he finally comes face to face with Bussaba.
(I like to imagine a Bollywood slo-mo moment here, where a mysterious wind blows Bussaba’s hair back from her face, as their eyes meet and a song starts to play.)
He instantly falls in love and realises what a MISTAKE he’s made. (It’s really all your own fault Inao. Minimal sympathy right now.)
I particularly enjoy the accounts where he is standing by Siyatra (Bussaba’s brother) when he spots her and he is so overcome with passion that he repeatedly kisses her brother, mistaking him for her. (Ok, Inao, you tell yourself that.)
The King of Joraka was ALSO on the way to help Daha but he arrived too late to be of any assistance. (Ugly and useless!)
Inao was now desperate to prevent Joraka’s marriage to Bussaba and the king of Daha was sympathetic but he had already given his word. (Unlike some, he doesn’t renege on a promise.)
Beach holiday filler episode time!
Ok, not really but the king of Daha and his wives and followers decide they simply must climb the mountain Wilismara to make offerings and worship to the Buddha image there.
Madewi, the king's second wife, suggests that Bussaba go and ask the image about her fate. Using lighted candles to decipher the Buddha’s message.
She lit three candles, one for Joraka on the left, herself in the middle and Inao on the right.
Bussaba asks the sacred image to extinguish the candle of the person who is not her soulmate.
Inao had secretly followed her and overheard this conversation and he plays a trick, pretending his voice is that of the god’s and persuading Bussaba and Madewi that Inao is her true soulmate.
He sends his follower Prasanta to drive out the bats and extinguish the candles and the darkness he finds and embraces Bussaba.
Madwei is furious about this (Bussaba less so,) and she argues with Inao who has the audacity to claim that he never refused Bussaba. (I think your dad has a letter suggesting otherwise buddy.)
Inao reluctantly hands Bussaba back to Madewi but asks Bussaba for a piece of cloth from her clothes, to hold when he is missing her. (smooth.)
What comes next is a cycle of adventures where the lovers are separated and have to search for each other before they are eventually reunited in a happy ending but they are not all told in the Lakhon Nai dance drama.
In many versions, Bussaba has to temporarily take on the disguise of a man and she has an active role in trying to help rescue Inao.
In a Javanese version, a demon takes her place and pretends to be the princess, called Candra Kirana in this story and the real princess appears at the court, disguised as a man to win back her man.

Surya, also known as Aditya, is the Hindu god of Sun, celebrated as the creator of the universe and the source of all life. He brings light and warmth to the world, traveling across the sky each day in his golden chariot pulled by seven horses, driven by Aruna, the personification of Dawn. The most famous temple of Surya is in Konark, Orissa, but it is worshipped across the Indian subcontinent and is also a minor deity in Buddhism.
Mythology and Origins
Surya first appears in the Rigveda, one of the oldest Vedic texts, dating back to between 1500 and 1000 BCE. It is depicted as the bringer of the Sun, riding his chariot across the sky and defeating the demons of darkness. According to myths, Surya is the son of Kasyapa, a Vedic sage, and Aditi, representing the infinite heavens. In other tales, his father is Brahma or Dyaus.
Surya had three children with Samjna (Conscience), the daughter of Visvakarma: Vaivasvata (one of the original men or Manu), Yama (god of the dead), and Yami (goddess of the Yamuna river). Samjna, unable to bear Surya’s brilliance, left him and lived as a mare in the forest. Surya, disguised as a stallion, mated with her, resulting in the birth of Revanta and the twin Ashvins, who accompany Surya in his chariot.
Surya’s Many Names
Surya is known by numerous names and epithets, reflecting his various aspects and powers. Some of his names include:
Vivasvat (Brilliant)
Savitr (the Nourisher)
Bhaskara (Light-maker)
Dinakara (Day-maker)
Lokacaksuh (Eye of the World)
Graharaja (King of the Constellations)
Sahasra-kirana (Of a Thousand Rays)

A Game of High Stakes by In_Dreams
In theory, the task is simple: kill Draco Malfoy. In practice, putting a curse through the Dark Lord's favoured lieutenant will take everything Hermione has―especially since he's trying to kill her, too. Even more so when the lines between them start to blur. Sometimes, the only way out is through.
fic by In_Dreams
1,122 pages / 263,110 words
Title Font: Abandon
Body Fonts: Adobe Caslon Pro, Far From Homecoming, Indie Flower, Headline One, 1782 Thurneysen, Dark Twenty, Kirana Script, Arial
More on the process + video below the cut!
My Exchange book is finally done! What a journey. This was a new fic for me, and a whopper too, at over 263k! I love being exposed to new recs though, one of my favorite parts of Exchanges!
I leaned into the theme of the "game" that's so prevalent in this fic; the characters move like pieces on a chess board, so I incorporated that into my design elements with checkerboard endpapers, dice on both the cover and in the typeset, and the king and queen on the cover of the third volume.
There's a coin in the fic that Hermione and Draco use to communicate with each other; each chapter begins with either heads, tails, or the side of the coin, for a "flipping" type of effect.
Handsewn endbands in the checkerboard white & black, and this was also my first time foiling a cover! I'm really pleased with how it came out; freehand foiling on stencils cut out with my Cricut.
Hope you enjoy, dear giftee! Happy Exchange!

The Tale of the Golden Snail (a Fairy Tale from the East with Curse element in it)
Before going deeper, I want to say that CPC depictions is lacking eastern (Asia and Africa - and maybe southern America as well?) fairy tales that depicted on the media - the closest of the eastern tale depiction is the magic lamp from "Aladdin" which is from middle east asia. Jack finds the Braided Island that inhabitants with people with appearance that different than him, is also similar with how westerner see easterner folks [which either got amazed by their exotic appearance or horrified with them to point of being racist]. It's a shame IMHO because as someone from East, I want to say that Eastern Fairy Tales is a giant gem box that ready to be explored.. Especially from my own country, there's many fairy tales with curses on their story - like becomes animal (monkey, snail etc), petrified to becomes a stone (Malin Kundang) or born cursed (example, has face of a gourd). I like to introduce my own country and it's culture but without being posh doing it, slow and honest introduction by said my country as Batik Kingdom - islands based Kingdom from faraway place from the continent where Plaid-Pastel-Polygon Kingdom resides. I am headcannon-ing that Frederick reads fairy tale from faraway continent as well, based on ep 34:
Well, let's move on to next topic which is about the Golden Snail Tale!
Once upon a time, Daha was a prosperous kingdom under Prabu Kertamerta's reign (Prabu means a king in English). He had two beautiful daughters: Galuh Ajeng and Candra Kirana.
When these two princesses had come of age, a crown prince from the Kahuripan kingdom came to propose a marriage. Raden Inu Kertapati was a handsome, strapping crown prince from a prosperous kingdom, so Prabu Kertamerta welcomed him and accepted his proposal.
Despite Princess Galuh Ajeng being the eldest, Raden Inu Kertapati chose Princess Candra Kirana. It rose Princess Galuh's wrath. She plotted a devious plan to expel Candra Kirana from the palace so she couldn't marry Raden Inu Kertapati.
She sought an evil witch to cast a spell on her sister. She wished Candra Kirana became so disgusting that no one wanted to get near. Not long after that, the witch cast a spell on Candra Kirana to become a keong emas (a golden snail). Before she threw the snail into the river, she told the princess the curse could only be broken by meeting Raden Inu Kertapati. [Note: the curse is broken not by "True Love's Kiss" but could simply by meeting the beloved, this nice insight]
In another version of this tale, the one that cursed as golden snail actually a queen which got cursed as bad karma by bad mouthing a 'magical' golden snail that she founds at the street. I take the most popular version instead because the character's name fits better ("Kirana"). Kirana is my OC of my planned multiple chapters fanfic series, her summarized backstory as the following: A witch cursed her to becomes a golden snail every night and teleported her to far away place (similar with Thermidora's story) - the Male Monastery site.
Kirana meets Whitney and they're platonically becomes close - her ideal that every curse could be broken eventually leads Whitney to becomes a curse breaker [which very important as being the one that recognize Frederick's curse properly]. Meanwhile Kirana go to get more informations and money so she could return to her kingdom someday, by becoming a journalist/reporter. This will be important plot point later on
^ How I imagined Kirana looks like, with her kingdom's outfit - Batik - and blonde hair which similar with her curse. Credit of the art piece with the watermark on the upper part
One day, a poor old lady caught a snail on her fishing net. When she saw it was a beautiful golden snail, she brought it home and kept it in a crock (an earthenware pot).
The next day the old lady went fishing. Unfortunately, she only caught a few fish. She was devastated because she could only buy a bit of rice. Imagine her surprise when she found plenty of food on her dining table. Feeling so hungry, she ate them without asking questions. Since this bizarre experience occurred every day, one day, the old lady pretended to go fishing. Then, she sneaked back into her hut and found a beautiful maiden cooked and cleaned.
She immediately confronted the maiden, who happened to be the cursed Princess Candra Kirana. As soon as the princess told her story, she became Keong Emas (golden snail) again. That's the beginning of the friendship between Candra Kirana and the old lady.
In the meantime, the news of the missing princess spread throughout the kingdom of Daha. Feeling that she had no other competitors, Princess Galuh Ajeng tried her hardest to replace her sister as the bride of Raden Inu Kertapati.
However, since Raden Inu Kertapati was deeply in love with Candra Kirana, he set off on a journey to find her. Knowing this, the evil witch shapeshifted into a crow and followed him.
When the crow talked to him in human language, Raden Inu Kertapati was amazed. He believed it was a magical creature that could help him found Candra Kirana. So, he followed the crow's leads. He didn't realize that the crow led him further away from Candra Kirana.
One day, Raden Inu Kertapati met an elderly, who asked for some food. Being the kind person he was, the prince happily shared his food. It turned out that the elderly was a wise man; who knew the evil crow had tricked the prince. So, as a payback to the prince's kindness, he hit the crow until it evaporated into a puff of smoke. Then he told him where to find Candra Kirana.
Thus, Raden Inu Kertapati set off to Dadapan village. It was a long journey. Several days later, the prince ran out of provisions, so he approached the closest house to ask for water. Imagine his delight when he saw Candra Kirana was cooking in there. He rushed into the house, and their reunion broke the curse.
Soon the couple returned to the kingdom of Daha and told the misfortune of Candra Kirana. Afraid of King's wrath, princess Galuh ran to the woods. That's the last time anyone heard of her.
In the end, Raden Inu Kertapati and Candra Kirana lived happily ever after. They invited the old lady to live in the palace and took care of her.

Chapter 318: Notice of Arrival
When her personal cell phone rang, the former Princess Caroline of Corwyn – now Abbess of St. Kirana’s Convent – was surprised to see her mother’s name.
“Mother,” Caroline said, answering. “What a surprise.”
“Hello, Caroline,” her mother’s voice said. “I wanted to let you know right away – the king has consented to help us get your sister released and sent to you in Umbomo.”
“That’s wonderful news, mother,” Caroline said. “I know how difficult captivity has been for Grace, and I have the perfect assignment in mind for her.”
“Just be careful, Caroline,” Anne replied. “I know she’s doing much better, but she’s still fragile. I just don’t want you to push her too hard.”
“Of course, I won’t,” Caroline said. “But I think focusing on something positive will be good for her. Helping others is always healing – I know that from personal experience, and have treasured the work I’m doing here in Africa.”
“Oh, of that I have no doubt,” Anne said. “I wish I could come with her. I’d love to see the work you’re doing with my own eyes, but unfortunately, that’s not possible. Nonetheless, I hope to have Grace on a plane by tomorrow afternoon.”
Caroline leapt to her feet.
“That soon?” she asked. “Then I need to make preparations. Call me when you’ve finalized her travel plans. It’s more than an hour to Konchatta, the closest airstrip, and I want to be there to greet her.”
“I will,” Anne said. “Take care, Caroline. And please know how proud I am of everything you’ve done. Your dedication has made an old woman very happy.”
“Thank you, mother,” Caroline replied. “I’ll talk to you soon.”
Slipping the cell phone back into her habit, Caroline leaned on her desk, considering her next move.
“Nileaus!” she called, and the sister entered.
“Yes, Abbess?” she asked.
“Have a car prepared for tomorrow,” Caroline said. “I’ll be travelling to Konchatta, and then on to Ambuja to check our progress there. My sister will be arriving at the airstrip, and I want to get her acquainted with my mission here.”
“You’ve been spending a lot of time at Ambuja lately, Abbess,” Nileaus said. “Are you sure you don’t want me to accompany you? I’m sure I can be of help.”
“No, old friend,” Caroline said. “I need you here.”
“Very well,” Nileaus replied, disappointed, then turned and left the room.
Caroline stood in silence for a moment, crossing her arms firmly.
“Oh, I’m sure they’ll go quite well,” Caroline said. “Quite well, indeed.”

5 Ghats To Experience The True Essence of Banaras
There is no place like Banaras to experience eternal peace. The temples, people, shops, and most importantly the ghats are famous all over the world for their rich culture and tradition. The sacred city, Banaras is located on the banks of the river Ganga in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. All of the ghats hold immense religious and cultural significance for Hindus and are an integral part of the city's identity.
However, picking 5 ghats in Banaras will be helpful in guiding you through the streets of Benaras.
Dashashwamedh Ghat

Kirana King - A journey from kirana wala to Kirana king
Our Story
During the year 2014, when we started the business considering India as one of the largest consumer markets for grocery retail, we came across one big question - 'How to survive in the constantly changing challenging circumstances?'
Though the way of doing retail business is evolving at lightning fast speed across the sectors and even the consumer buying behaviour is also changing rapidly, it is the Kirana shops that remain unchanged over the years.
So the major question that hammers the head is how they are going to survive & sustain in the future if they don't adopt the new business methods?
And that's how the idea of Kirana King was born. Our mission was clear. We wanted to create India’s largest offline marketplace for grocery retail by way of focusing on standardization, centralization & digitization and by giving new look & identity to Kirana shops in India.
Empowerment
The company headed in the direction of empowerment under the visionary guidance of our founder& CEO Mr Anup Kumar Khandelwal. Using his decades of global and local business experience and unmatched expertise, we planned a structured system and set the achievable goals.
Started with thorough field research in and around Jaipur, we moved pan India to understand the local grocery retail at length. Our experts also studied traditional and modern grocery systems in various parts of the world. After significant research, we concluded that the problem isn't with the demand but it is with the unorganized way of doing business.
Considering a list of issues throughout the supply chain, infrastructure, we created a unique ecosystem to empower the entire grocery retail ecosystem. This robust ecosystem involves the retailers, suppliers, and consumers with Kirana King as the main connecting link. The initial results surpassed our expectations and gave us the strength to achieve our aim and it was practically realized that 'Changes are good for Growth'.
About Company
Kirana King is the fastest growing grocery retail company that marked its origin in Jaipur since 2014. Its core mission has been to encourage retailers to adopt transformation of their Kirana stores and to bring them on an organized retail platform. Kirana King primarily focuses on standardization, centralization & digitization of traditional Kirana system.
Kirana King’s prime objective is to empower and elevate the traditional Kirana stores while seamlessly tether these outlets to a never-before-witnessed transformation and get the grocery retail landscape revamped.
Innovation
At Kirana King, we commit relentless dedication to innovation. We take pride in the success of your business and do everything we can in our hands to make that happen. Your grocery retail outlet is your brand, and at Kirana King, we have a clear objective to maximize the “Brand Uptime” of the traditional retailers under a unique brand name ‘’Kirana King – India Ki Nayi Dukan ‘’.
Kirana King believes in implementing its vision and dynamism to the abatement of all support in not only recognizing the challenges that lie ahead but also provide critical support at every step for overcoming all knowledge gaps
