“Ta-da!” Buck whips off the napkin. “They're crow-lipops!”

Tommy grins. “They look amazing, babe.” He picks one up and bites its head off. “A murder of crows are angry and holding a grudge against you,” he reads through a mouthful of cake.

“That's real, it happened to Chimney,” Buck says solemnly.

“...Okay. You know, these hay bales could be polenta cakes.”

“Ooh, that's good, remember it for next year. Now you go.”

Tommy uncovers a dark chocolate cookie bar. “I call it… the Burnt Lasagna.”

Buck groans. “You were distracting me….”

“Ask nice and I'll do it again,” Tommy smirks.

“This is why we don't have time for polenta cakes,” Buck informs him, before asking very nice indeed.

truly though @kinley-cafe is just such a joy for this fandom to have. they're always bringing a smile to my face and there's always such lovely artwork and it's always fun to see so much joy and positivity when there is so much of the opposite out there. we're so lucky as a fandom to have have this positivity project.

Top 5 Tommy Headcanons

Tommy grills. He's not a kitchen man. He likes to be outside, he likes that primal edge of just meat and fire. Buck really balances him out in this aspect. Before Buck, Tommy was a bagged salad or frozen peas kind of guy. Boring and basic. He didn't put too much thought into side dishes, or ways he could elevate his proteins. He'd grill something, slap it on top of some romaine, and call it a day. Now that he's got Buck bumping elbows with him while they cook dinner, he's on cloud nine. Buck can make a regular schmegular salad feel like an entrée. Buck can throw together a side like no one's business. Tommy can and will kill a man to be bossed around his own kitchen as Buck instructs him on how to build a pasta salad.

Tommy has too many hobbies because he's lonely. Dating has had it's ups and downs for him, and because of that he's been feeling adrift. He really wants someone to share his life with, and he tends to keep a busy schedule. He wants to sleep because he's exhausted, without having to stare at the ceiling and feel like he's too alone in his bed. And then suddenly Buck is spending the night. Tommy doesn't wake up alone in the mornings anymore, and it makes him want to slow down and enjoy his day to day, instead of being busy all of the time.

Tommy got into cars in the army, and has had several project cars over the years. He likes to buy something that will take A Lot of work, and then take his time with it. There's something very satisfying about having to hunt high and low for parts, and slowly turn a hunk of metal into a functioning vehicle. He does sell them after the fact, and has managed to make a narrow profit every time. Which is a miracle. Unfortunately it looks like his truck is now his new project car. It's a 2003 Chevy Silverado, and now that it's old enough to drink, he really has to put effort into keeping it running.

Tommy's got terrible and embarrassing music taste. He got deep into nü metal as a tween/teen, and it's stuck with him. Corey Taylor was and is his number one celebrity crush. Shut up. He doesn't go to shows very often anymore. When he does, he will get in the pit, and regret it deeply the next morning. He's pretty sure a wall of death will actually kill him one day.

Tommy is transgender. I'm about 50k into it, with about 30k posted so far.

Buck and Tommy have truly reconnected. They've gone from only spending their free time together at the café, to going out to dinner and movies every week.

Even though they feel like they're in a great place, they've both been worried about pushing each other away, so they haven't talked about where they stand.

With Valentine's Day coming up next month, all Buck can think about is spending another holiday with Tommy.

Tommy, of course, wants the same, but he's got time to figure that out, right?

(I feel like it's really telling in a mushy sort of way that last time kinley cafe did an event I was too shy and didn't really feel like I knew anyone well enough to send anyone anything and now like what, a month or two later I'm sitting here contemplating how many I can send before it's Too Many and the only real difference is me choosing to step in and engage with the fandom. it's pretty insane that this is maybe the third?? fourth?? time we've had to deal with anonymous fics on ao3 mistagging on purpose and trying to trigger people. this shouldn't have even been a discussion we had to have once and it just keeps happening.
