Me explaining to my sister that if Kingston NY had to have a “superhero” they would be better off with a Batman (comics one, if movie one, he’d be killed so quickly ly) rather than a spiderman because the fights in Kingston are usually personal or some shit. If there was a spiderman, the people in Kingston would blame him for the DUMBEST MOST PERSONAL SHIT (Like “you saved me last Tuesday and that same Tuesday my cousin’s kid wound up in a hospital?? wtf is up with that you bitch???”). Not to mention, he’s “too friendly” so many in Kingston would hate/degrade him tbh. But a Batman in Kingston??? Definitely better than the fucking cops there (they suck big time). Like, he would be feared so people would (usually) stop their bullshit instantly. PLUS he’s lowkey good to the “villains” of places. People (even people committing the crimes) would feel like they can talk to him. Spider-Man is a good superhero BUT FOR KINGSTON?? Yeah, he would not be able to do his hero job stuff there without like 10000 interruptions… people would make fun of him… yeah…
((Side note: Billionaires, please DONT move there tho because there is this thing called gentrification, and it’s starting to get really bad in Kingston. I think that the best hero is Medicare for all and housing everyone who’s homeless personally. Not this shit.))
#also if anyone showed UP in a Spider-Man costume in Kingston obviously they’d be loved#I’m talking about just the kind of superhero he is… he would be ripped apart there#people wouldn’t trust him etc#the KIND OF HEROES they are and how much they’d fit that city is what I mean#Kingston#Kingston NY#not actually upstate ny for those who live here but if#upstate ny#kinda#cat rambles#batman#marvel#spiderman#dc comics#dc

our neighborhood isn't big on lawn signs and the first Trump sign just went up at the neighbor's house who runs the greenhouse where I get all my plant starts for the garden.
it scares me and it's so weird to have that fear of a neighbor I trusted at least somewhat, and come on here and watch people throw around the phrase "genocide apologist" in response to any statement of preference for Harris.
you don't vote for the candidate you like. you vote for the candidate you'd rather organize against. I don't know if these folks are young or inexperienced or just ignorant but US funded genocide didn't start in October 2023. if you weren't aware of it before then I kinda think that's on you.
do you talk to older organizers who were active during the Reagan years? a lot of people died for no reason because he was running the joint. your life sucks worse today because that guy was briefly in charge. can we please stop talking like there's no difference or like a vote is an endorsement. it is a tactical decision. it is not a fucking reward for good politician behavior. I don't know where that idea came from but it makes me feel insane.
I am continuing to organize for Palestinian liberation irl and also my trans commune would feel safer if our neighbors had Harris signs. it is weird that these things seem to be in conflict.
#this isn't even saying people have to vote. I'm not the boss of you!#I'm just bewildered by the rhetoric#y'all are traumatized by the atrocities as makes sense but please take a second to regulate#and tell your allies from your enemies#or even your enemies from your worse enemies#idk maybe everyone is your enemy. that would explain a lot.#personal#i can't remember my tag for this i apologize#anyway if you're in the Kingston NY area and would like to make life worse for our pro-israel representative hmu - mutuals only tho#not trying to blow up anybody's spot

"BASEBALL IN PRISONS." Kingston Daily Standard. August 3, 1912. Editorial. --- We learn from the New York World that on Sunday last there was played the first of a series of baseball games at Comstock, N.Y., having a considerable interest for others besides "fans." It was played by two teams made up of convicts in the Great Meadow Prison, where the Warden has organized a five-team league from among the 540 prisoners to contest for the prison championship.
Those who think that prisons are intended to reform the criminals will welcome this as an enlightened policy; those who think that punishment is the primary object of imprisonment may object to it. For our own part we welcome it. It is in line with what the Hon. Mr. Hanna is doing on the prison farm. How would it do to try a similar experiment out at Portsmouth? They have an excellent umpire out there in the person of one of the officials while we have no doubt there are many good ball players among the unfortunates confined within the four walls and for whom life at best is none too inviting. To be sure it is their own fault that they are there; but would not this taste of freedoms make them long yet more for the greater freedom that comes from clean, honorable living? Punishment is punishment; but back of all the law is, or should be, the higher purpose of reformation.
