Took a break this afternoon to go get some ice cream with the kids, since it was BOGO due to the impending storm. We were all too willing to help them clear out their inventory before the storm hits and they lose power. 😂 During our ice creams though, we learned that all of the schools are closing at least through to Thursday and the county just below us is evacuating, as well as several above us. It’s only a matter of time before the orders for evacuation come our way to #CamdenCounty and we decided we are leaving in the morning. We are hustling around and packing right now, grabbing everything that’s important or irreplaceable and we plan to leave first thing in the morning. I have no idea where we are going yet, but, I’ll let y’all know as soon as I figure that out. TBH I’m getting really upset and emotional about the idea of leaving and not knowing what we will be coming home to when the storm passed. The kids are all upset and taking it out on each other (sorry, neighbors! 🙈), and I’m trying my best not scream right along with them. Okay, that’s a lie 😬 - I’ve raised my voice more in the last hour than I have in the last 6 months, and I’m currently taking a breather in my bathroom to compose myself. Not my finest moment, but, I gotta just ask for some grace from my kids and my poor husband who is stuck at work in Jacksonville. I’ll keep y’all posted as I can. Brew #260: Arthurstown Brewing Co. Kings Bay Maple Ale

ABV: 4.4%

Served: From the fridge

Aroma: Malt, caramel

Pour: Dark amber, clear with bubbly off white head reducing to a skim

Taste: Sweet sticky malt wash with those maple notes all over and under. Finishes out on a light dry bite, fairly one dimensional, the sweetness isn’t over powering but there’s not enough going on taste wise. Fine for pairing off a dinner course but I wouldn’t be seeking out otherwise.

Served: From the fridge

Aroma: Strawberry, grass, slight malt and honey

Pour: Lightly clouded gold with bubbly white froth reducing

Taste: Really nice bubbly mouthfeel, wheat and malt wash, very light with some citrus notes before a very fine, tart strawberry fruitiness comes in to bite at the finish. Well balanced and refreshing, as recommended on the bottle perfect for a sunny evening with the barbecue on.

Notes: 500ml bottle, Celebration Wexford strawberries, malt - Hook Peninsula Lager malt / Munich, hops - Noble.
