I'm gonna be thinking about this scene forever. The slowly unfolding rage, quietly realizing and absolutely rejecting the possibility that the evil he's done might have been for nothing. He sees it, and it's impossible to bear, so he replaces it with fury and decides that this will not be. He won't let it. He was already in too deep, but this is the moment when he rejects any possibility of turning back or repenting from this path. You've already done evil--so double down, dig the grave deeper, if you're going to be this, you better fucking win. Chilling.

okkkk some jumbled thoughts from my 3rd macbethening, this is a combination of things related to the film version plus just the production in general because i love it so much
i don't think i'll ever stop being floored by the opening scene. the music, macbeth's expressions (the exhausted, haggard way that he moves as the praises for his viciousness on the battlefield ring out behind him)... i'm deranged forever. bonus points this time for the close-ups on his face
the macbeth's embrace when they first reunite is so tender :( the way they hold onto each other :(
thanks to me having the soundtrack on loop i noticed a few interesting things re: the soundtrack. for instance the motif of the psalm first plays when duncan is naming malcolm heir (although much less dark and creepy i think). then it comes in at full force when macbeth is crowned king
it was stated in the traveling folk interview that iomar ò illean mhara was the song played at the irl funeral of duncan, and quite fittingly the first time it plays in the production is when lady macbeth welcomes duncan to inverness. though over the course of the play it definitely becomes lady macbeth's theme and plays over/in between her most pivotal scenes (including before and after the sleepwalking scene and right before her final exit). this makes me think about the parallels between them and how duncan's ghost haunts her (this production keeps the line about him reminding her of her father...!) def need more time to marinate in this
the little cascade is definitely banquo's motif (or the motif representing banquo's lineage). it plays during the first scene with him and fleance and then when the apparitions show macbeth banquo's legacy becoming kings !!
love the bird's eye view of macbeth bowing to duncan (and how it establishes a visual parallel w/ him on the ground before getting crowned, and him being lifted up by the witches)
LOVE how the ceilidh was filmed, it was even more stunning (!) than when i saw it live although that may have been where i was sitting lol
the only parts of the film version i don't think live up to when i watched it live were the "stars hide your fires" scene (i would like to see more of the slo mo clapping!) and the final fight (i think the choreography prob improved when staging it at the harold pinter, it was cleaner and less chaotic having everybody come at macbeth from only two directions)
of course it is stated in the credits that the "child" role is fleance, the macduffs' son, and young siward, but there are a few moments i think are solidly the ghost of the macbeths' child (he's behind the glass the whole time). when he appears over lady macbeth welcoming duncan to inverness, when he's walking along to the ceilidh (and you see him between the macbeths during the time-slow bit), and when he's frantically knocking as the macbeths dance together (after they resolve themselves to murder duncan). in this way i think he serves both as the embodiment of their reason to kill duncan and the embodiment of their guilt
the big, single knock of the ensemble behind the glass before macbeth has his monologue abt how "every noise appalls him".... the hands pressing against the glass when macbeth talks abt how he'll never sleep again..... so delightfully creepy. i love it so much.
i didn't have a good enough angle to see it either time i watched it live but the Look between the macbeths after lady macbeth pretends to "faint" was so good... i think dt's macbeth makes me actually believe that him killing duncan's servants was like this fucked up manifestation of his guilt and "violent love" and he was dissociating badly + didn't know what he was doing. anyway now in this scene he's making himself look insanely guilty so lady macbeth has to take everyone's eyes off of him for a hot second. love how the murder power couple are kind of cringe fail in their own funny way
the very uncomfortable look that the murderers share with each other when macbeth brings up killing fleance. suuuuuch a good touch to that scene
you all know i am a huge fan of the dagger soliloquy cuz it was macbeth grabbing at his own shadow, macbeth as the "dagger", resolving himself to be more a weapon than a man, etc, but also this theme is repeated in his last monologue in 3.2! he talks to his shadow again when he's justifying arranging the murders of banquo and fleance to himself. OOF
in my notebook for one of my points i just wrote "3.4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" cuz, obviously, david's acting in this scene is just fucking riveting and still gives me full body chills. also, staging note, i love that when he hallucinates the ghost for the second time everyone at the "table" moves away and it's like we're not watching him lose it in the eyes of everyone else we're being fully dunked into his head as he completely unravels
i think i like both the donmar and harold pinter versions of the 2nd witches scene equally! the choreography for the donmar version is a lot cooler and makes the witches feel more otherworldly but the harold pinter version connects it back to the theme of macbeth's trauma and grief and how the witches take root in that
i think it's just the fact i could see her expressions better but i teared up during the sleepwalking scene.. like aughhhhhh cush jumbo you came for my knees!!!!!!!!
the deranged grin on macbeth's face when he disarms macduff and he says "thou losest labor" i am soooo. i am SOOOOOOO. [chews on my arm]

Arcane and Macbeth, and what this means for Caitlyn, Ambessa, Jinx, and Isha Theory
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Somebody on Reddit mentioned that this image from the season 2 intro of Caitlyn looked like a Macbeth poster. Obviously I wasn’t the first to notice this, but I did decide to make this post explaining what this means.
Caitlyn being in the position of Macbeth immediately tells us something- She’s in a position of power. One she feels guilty for being in- The guilt eating her alive. After killing King Duncan, Macbeth begins frantically washing his hands in water, and comes to a sudden realization that becoming king comes with the cost of guilt for the unjust way he obtained his power-
“Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No, this hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red” (Act 2 Scene 2) the literal meaning of this quote is that no amount of water can wash the blood off his hands and that his attempts to clean himself would turn the entire ocean red. Taking this metaphorically, he’s saying he’ll never be free of his guilt and anything he does to try and save himself would just poison the world around him.
I see people wondering if Caitlyn will have her own “pitfighter Vi” moment. I think the Macbeth symbolism is proof she will. Following the parallels, Caitlyn will act in ways to try to rid herself of the guilt she feels for hurting Zaun, and for hurting Vi. Whatever she does in an attempt to rid herself of guilt will backfire and hurt the people closest to her, and Piltover as a whole.
Based on LoL lore and the fact Caitvi are canonically together by then, I have a hard time believing Caitlyn won’t get an onscreen redemption arc, meaning her similarities to Macbeth end there. However I think this could still give us insight into how Ambessa, Jinx and Isha will fair the rest of the season.
I’ve already seen people compare Ambessa to Lady Macbeth, given that she’s the pulling the strings, the one who convinces Macbeth to kill King Duncan and take the throne. Lady Macbeth goes mad of grief throughout the play. Act 5 Scene 1 shows her sleepwalking and revealing the truth as she speaks. This could possibly indicate that Ambessa herself isn’t as unfazed as she first appears to be, and will reveal the truth through an unintentional admission of guilt. I personally don’t see Ambessa doing this, but I thought I’d mention it regardless since I’ve seen others draw parallels.
Now, something I haven’t seen mentioned at all is that there’s one key thing stopping Macbeth’s future lineage from becoming king: A vision that Banquo’s children will become the future kings of Scotland. After obtaining power, it becomes Macbeth’s mission to eliminate Banquo and his son- A parallel I think best suits Jinx and Isha. Jinx has become the defacto leader of Zaun and represents every bit of grief Caitlyn feels. By killing her- She solves “the problem”. But if Jinx became leader in place of Silco, her father figure, who takes Jinx’s role? Logically, a child who looks up to her. enter Isha, the stand in for Banquo’s son.
In the play itself, Banquo is killed, but his son survives. Do I think this means Caitlyn will succeed in killing Jinx, but not Isha? I can’t say. I feel as if these parallels exist solely to set up the way Caitlyn feels/reacts in Act 2 as opposed to a step by step instruction on how the plot will move forward (Hence why I’m hesitant to claim Ambessa revealing the truth as akin to Lady Macbeth seems like a stable idea- It does not). I do however think there is intentionality behind adding in Macbeth symbolism, and I fully believe that some parts of the play will parallel with the plot of season 2.

I noticed this painting properly for the first time after the episode, which is a depiction of the three witches from Macbeth (thank you Screen Rant) and it got me thinking (prepare for some really wild overanalysis of a Marvel character, apparently Marvel just Does This To You).
Tumblr media
I think there's some interesting stuff to be said about the parallels between Agatha/Macbeth and the way power is depicted/used in the show. Obviously they're using the word power in a really literal sense to mean, for example, that Billy can shoot lightning out of his hands or that Agatha has lost her power and can't do magic.
Meanwhile in Macbeth, you have Macbeth taking the literal power of becoming the king for himself, but you also have much softer forms which he spends most of the play desperately trying to grasp onto. He worries that Banquo's sons will inherit the throne and so tries to have them killed, and Banquo's ghost haunts him after his death. No matter what Macbeth does, he can't have ultimate power over death and the natural order of the world.
Then you have Agatha who has killed a lot of people in her search for that literal power and she has historically been an extremely strong witch. Now though, she's lost her power, and that really parallels Macbeth in the way that ultimately she can't control death (personified by Rio) and her quest to get her power back is really a quest to control what she can't - i.e. get her son back.
Interestingly, for Shakespeare, witches were very much outside the "natural order" of the world, and while I don't see that for Agatha I DO see that for Rio. She is a representation of death, she knows things others don't (e.g. that Billy wasn't Agatha's son), she comes and goes as she pleases. And that kind of represents where Agatha is as a character: she desperately wants this other worldly power over death, she both despises it and lusts after it, but ultimately can't possess it.
Anyway, I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts and also I hope Agatha and Rio make out.

I mean... think about it. Who does Banquo love the best after his son? Who does he trust the most, and confide in, and tell endless stories of to his wide-eyed son? Who would be the most important person Fleance would know to run to, should anything go awry?
He's maybe 12, coming back to the palace with his father after a long ride, all pink cheeks and tired but happy, and still thrilled that his father is the closest friend of the new king, and they're staying at the palace now. He takes the torch to light their way down the path from the gate, because he always carries the torch for his father.
His father remarks there will be rain tomorrow.
And then the rush, the torch knocked from his hand and gone out, the scraping of steel as his father tries to draw his sword, and Fleance reaches for his dagger, but the shadows are hulking and his father is shouting over the attackers grunts and complaints. "Fly, fly, fly!" he cries, and the boy obeys.
He knows who to run to for help, he knows who he can trust. He knows how brave and fierce a warrior Macbeth is. So he runs, small and slim, and sure-footed even in the dark.
He does not hear the death gurgle, though his own fear chokes him, knowing his father is probably dead, hoping with the wild hope of youth that Banquo can fight, can fend them off long enough, until Macbeth should come. He doesn't know how many more attackers there might be, he can't be sure they won't come after him. So he skitters off the path, weaves through the trees, trying to remember where the side entrances are, thinking he should slip in through the kitchens. He can't trust anyone until he gets to Macbeth, until Macbeth knows. Macbeth will protect him.
So he slips and he sneaks through the dark, through the doors, taking the round-about way even if it's longer, moving fast, thinking forward, only ahead, not back, he can't think back, not now. There's a feast on, he and his father were supposed to be guests of honour at it. But now the food smells make him nauseous. He skulks through the shadows of the scullery, catching snippets of chatter from the servants: the meal is being served, the feast is gathered, the king is in the hall.
Scottish castles aren't much for decoration, not even the king's, but there's enough people coming and going for him to slip through, and he takes refuge against a chest in a corner, trying to catch his breath, trying to listen for Macbeth's voice. He thinks that voice will mean safety, will mean rescue.
He hears the murderer's rough voice first, and his heart near stops with terror. They've come after him, they'll find him, they'll kill him too. His fingers tremble as he wraps them around his dagger hilt, remembering his father's plea to avenge him. And he determines to take at least one man with him. He doesn't hear Macbeth's approach, or he may have leapt up with a wild determination to save at least Macbeth from the killers.
The first thing he hears from Macbeth is quick, anxious, so much so he's not quite sure it is Macbeth. "There's blood on thy face."
He's gone still, so still, stiller than a rabbit under the eye of a hound, he does not even blink, because the voice is right above him now, both of the voices...
"Oh, tis Banquo's then."
Father...
"Well, better you without than he within. Is he dispatched then?"
"I cut his throat myself. But the son is fled."
The son is fled, yes, the son is fled to sit by and hear his father's best and dearest companion delight in his father's murder, and wish for the son's death. The son is fled to the shadows he thought would protect him, but he sits in the shadow of death.
He doesn't blink or twitch or even breathe for what seems a long time.
When he comes back to himself, the banquet is prepared, everyone is in the feast hall, where he can hear Macbeth's voice. The kindling of rage sparks in Fleance, and he draws his dagger, rising from his shadowed corner, suddenly uncaring for his own life, when none better than Judas stands in the other room. But he looks up, and... he would speak but he cannot, for he thinks he sees his father standing there, over by the stairs, shaking his head, and there's blood all down his shirt, but he's looking at his son, and Fleance can hear the words as if in distant echo—Fly, fly, fly!
Fleance is a dutiful son, he loves his father more than anyone else in the world, he will do what his father commands. So he sheathes the dagger. He slides back into the shadows, and fancies the shadow of Banquo follows him. (They are the lights relegated to the shadows, reduced to flickers.)
In the quiet stables (grooms away to their own supper) gathering the saddle, hands slipping over his father's handsome seat, seeing Banquo's sweet grey mare nicker at him, his hands begin to shake.
In the distance the hue and cry is raised, but he does not hear, for he is weeping suddenly, stumbling to Thistledown's side to cling to her neck, before he turns away and is violently sick.
No one hears him, no one finds him.
He takes Thistledown, rather than his own pony. Somehow he cannot bear to leaver her behind, as if she might be next for Macbeth to want dead. They ride out into the night, a chill rain blowing in from the east, and covering their passage. The boy has only his plaid, his dagger, his flint, a bit of bread and a small skin of wine pillaged from a groom's things, and heart breaking under the weight of betrayal and loss and loneliness.
He does not know where to go now. He knows he can never return. He knows he will survive.

The *New* Fassbender Psychopath Scale 😈
Tumblr media
*Updated 02/23/2025*
I wanted to expand on the one introduced on the Kelly Clarkson show, below are the Fassy movies I've seen, my general "psychopath" rating for each character and reason why
Disclaimers:
For context I am essentially swapping "psychopath" with "evil," I am in no way trying to tie this to any psychological disorders or do a deep dive into any characters. Just a very surface-level "how nefariously evil is this character?"
These are my opinions, I encourage you to share, comment and make your own ratings. I will also be updating as I watch more of his films.
There *will* be spoilers so if you haven't seen these movies/shows, consider yourself warned!
The scale will also be a 0-5. I'm using 👿 and a zero will be a 👍
Let's go! 🦈
Movies 🎥
Hunger: Bobby Sands 👍
Only going off the context of the movie, he was on hunger strike for his cause and ended up starving to death. (Not doing a deep dive, don't know too much about the real person or protest).
Eden Lake: Steve 👍
Guy and his girlfriend just trying to escape and survive a gang of murderous teenagers.
Fish Tank: Connor 👿👿👿👿👿
Oh boy, this guy... He grooms and r*pes a child, and then if that wasn't bad enough, she's the daughter of his girlfriend, and if THAT wasn't bad enough, we find out he's got a wife and child he's been keeping this from.
Inglourious Basterds: Lt. Hicox 👍👍
Goes undercover to help defeat the n*zis (helps get a few killed too, even though he dies in the process).
Centurion: Quintus Dias 👍
Just a soldier, trying to survive.
Jane Eyre: Mr. Rochester 👿👿👿
Keeps his wife, suffering from mental illness, locked in the walls and keeps it a secret so he doesn't scare off another woman he's trying to marry.
X-Men: Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto 👿👿
Erik's anger comes from a place of trauma and his worst fears keep coming to fruition. That being said, he does blindly distrust all humans, betrays Charles multiple times and causes so much unnecessary destruction.
A Dangerous Method: Carl Jung 👿👿
Doctor cheats on his wife with his patients, twice.
Shame: Brandon Sullivan 👍
A man suffering with addiction and trauma, plus added guilt when his sister stays over. Wish I could give him a hug.
Haywire: Paul 👿👿
I wasn't paying attention (he's not in it for that long) but I think he double crossed the main character and shot someone?
Prometheus/Alien Covenant: David 8 👿👿👿
I will defend David with my dying breath but to be honest, he does some horrendous things. Intentionally infecting humans with alien parasites, massacring an entire planet, killing and experimenting on someone he loved? Sorry David, you're getting a 3!
12 Years a Slave: Edwin Epps 👿👿👿👿👿👿
Sadistic slave owner and r*pist, about as evil as it gets (and yes I put an extra 👿).
Frank: Frank 👍
Poor Frank has done no wrong, just wants to make music and wear mask.
Slow West: Silas Selleck 👿
Starts out tricking the main character so he can find a bounty but has a change of heart.
Macbeth: Macbeth 👿👿👿👿
M*rders the king in his sleep so he can become king, orders Banquo and his son killed (although the son does escape) and burns MacDuff's wife and children at the stake.
Steve Jobs: Steve Jobs 👿👿
Greedy businessman, neglectful father and stole credit from his friend and business partner.
The Light Between Oceans: Tom Sherbourne 👿
He and his wife were heartbroken after their miscarriages but he does technically kidnap a child, keeping her from her grieving mother. He does eventually turn himself in.
Assassin's Creed: Cal/Aguilar 👿
Callum 'the pimp killer' Lynch "avatars" his assassin ancestor Aguilar. (It is about assassins after all, had to give him something).
Song to Song: Cook 👿👿
This movie was hard to follow but I'm giving him a two because he might be a groomer (he met the main character, who he later sleeps with, at 16) and he screwed Ryan Gosling's character out of the copyright to his songs.
Alien Covenant: Walter 1 👍
Don't really think Walter can be evil, he doesn't have the capacity that David does.
Next Goal Wins: Thomas Rongen 👿
Intentionally misgenders and deadnames a character because he's upset at her, later apologizes. Also a bit of a jerk to everyone at the beginning.
TV 📺
A Bear Named Winnie: Lt. Coleburn 👿
He brings a baby bear to a military camp. Also leaves the bear at a zoo, letting her live out her life in a small cage instead of releasing her back to the wild when he had the chance.
William & Mary: Lukasz 👿👿👿
Jumped through the episode to watch the Fassy bits but ew... Guy m*lests the midwife that just delivered he and his girlfriend's baby.
Sherlock Holmes & The Case of the Silk Stocking: Charles Allen 👿👿👿👿👿
Even though it's two characters, I'm rating them the same. One's a child m*lester and murder and one knew about it and did nothing.
The Agency: Martian 👿
He is knowingly putting himself, his daughter, the cia AND his girlfriend at risk all because he can't let his relationship go? (Spoiler: he still can't and ends up going double agent to rescue her).
Here's the original video for context:

Let me know what you think!
Share any suggestions of what movie or show I should watch next.

Macbeth cope list
What a lovely theatre it was so beautiful in there the CEILING was so nice. The chairs were comfy too. Uh the walls? They were great also. And the floors were walkable no doubt about it
No problems with the headphones at all except for early on when they all started dancing and jumping around the sound went nuts and the music got really staticy. Not sure if we just got a fritzy night or if thats a problem theyve consistently dealt with. The second the dancing stopped though it was fine again so!
Thats a big part of what really impressed me with the sound too it felt like you could really hear how tightly controlled it was and how much attention to detail theyd put into it with switching peoples mics on and off and adjusting volume when they shouted and looping and overlaying voices. And the sound effects worked really well!!! Incredibly effective and immersive. Sidenote a lady sat in front of us was like oh theres headphones? What are these for? Like i forgot not everybody has dedicated their lives to seeing this play and knows all about it
One downside might be that the audience cant hear themselves so theres a lot of coughing and sneezing and snuffling and snorfing and at one point someones alarm went off and when macduff was doing his all my pretty chickens moment someone was genuinely hacking up a lung behind us. I wonder if thats annoying for the actors LOL i hope the donmar proshot doesnt have a lot of that in the final mix because ill just die
LOVED the use of the glass partition the way theyd have everyone seated in a row and delivering the sort of expositiony lines like i said before. Especially in the second half of macbeth theres a lot of back and forth between lots of short scenes so i really liked the way they dealt with that it never lost momentum. And when they opened the glass and started CLIMBING OUT that was so great
Actually a favourite element was how everyone would start climbing onto the stage and crawling towards macbeth and grasping out at him that was so DELICIOUSLY creepy. Shout out to rona morrison who played lady macduff the woman with the red hair in braids she would crack this extremely unsettling smile whenever she went witchy mode and my eye was always drawn to her.
I have so many macbeths to compare this to bc i watched so many this year and this one is up there as a favourite for sure. I think the descent into madness is hard to do in a way that feels natural and not hammy but we can HEAR the voices in their heads and feel the pressure they feel as everything goes weird around them and the guilt starts to eat at them. I believed it i really did!! The sort of Snap the shift between when hes seeing the dagger versus when duncans dead and hes covered in blood again. YAYYY!!!!! I especially believed his speech about banquo that sort of escalation drawn out by paranoia when hes like make THEM kings???? The SONS of banquo. KINGS??? its like here we go girls…
Also comparing it to all the other macbeths i saw its SO GOOD to have an all scottish cast LOL it really is crazy how that simple change adds so so much
Cush jumbo and her big bright eyes HER EYESSSS shes a very powerful glowy presence in her white dress i loved the way she did this sort of gesture like shes having a migraine paired with the sound and the lights sort of getting keyed up and the ghostly child behind them both and the way she did the out damned spot WAIL and how she said come come give me your hand down low and sweet like to a little kid oh my god…
Im jumping around a lot but the porter was really fun and the way they really harshly snap back into the world of the play after it was really cool like the whole scene was all in HIS head too mmmm
I love when its funny GENUINE comedy like hahaha laughing out loud. It was a rough night! So annoying when you know it could be funny but the actors like nah this is serious business or my name isnt sir kenneth charles branagh. Lets have a giggle mate it makes the frightening parts scarier it makes the tragedy more depthful lets experience the range of human emotions together come on lets go
I just want to keep saying things that worked like the music worked the lights worked the smoke worked the bit where everyones being the witches worked the one child actor playing all the children worked the banquos ghost scene REALLY worked you have DISPLACED the MIRTH the idea that the two of them are carrying a lot of baggage from war and the loss of a child really REALLY works. I think thats the best compliment i can give it like theres nothing i feel like didnt achieve what they were going for or fell short. Im really really impressed by it super super super pleased for everyone for bringing the vision to life so clearly and effectively
David tennant was really good

To be thus is nothing,
But to be safely thus. Our fears in Banquo
Stick deep, and in his royalty of nature
Reigns that which would be feared. 'Tis much he dares,
And to that dauntless temper of his mind
He hath a wisdom that doth guide his valour o act in safety. There is none but he
Whose being I do fear; and under him
My genius is rebuked, as it is said
Mark Antony's was by Caesar. He chid the sisters
When first they put the name of king upon me
And bade them speak to him. Then, prophet-like,
They hailed him father to a line of kings.
Upon my head they placed a fruitless crown
And put a barren sceptre in my grip,
Thence to be wrenched with an unlineal hand,
No son of mine succeeding. If 't be so,
For Banquo's issue have I filed my mind
For them the gracious Duncan have I murdered,
Put rancours in the vessel of my peace
Only for them, and mine eternal jewel
Given to the common enemy of man
To make them kings, the seeds of Banquo kings.
Rather than so, come fate into the list,
And champion me to th' utterance.
thats what i was gonna say

fix-it fic to macbeth where upon hearing “macbeth will be king but banquo’s heirs will succeed him,” macbeth DOESN’T go on a killing spree and instead has a daughter after taking the throne, who then goes on to marry banquo’s son and the two of them continue the banquo family line....
...followed up by an UN-fix-it fic to that fic where macbeth’s daughter takes after dear old mom (and dad too let’s face it), decides her husband is unfit to rule, and that she would be way better at it, and gets a little stabby in the process

🗡MacBanquo🗡
Headcanons
♥️No room for midlife crises here, only husbands and their love for eachother✨
♥️Macbeth may be able to dominate his kingdom of Scotland, but he certainly can't dominate Banquo - Macbeth's 110% a bottom
♥️Banquo loves to give Macbeth surprise kisses and to get him all flustered and defensive even though he secretly loves it as well
♥️For fun they often play with eachother's beards and facial hair as a tease
♥️Banquo always reminds and praises Macbeth's masculinity, it's mostly for fun, but it's also because it always makes Macbeth smile
♥️Despite how stern and stubborn Macbeth can be, Banquo finds it very easy to humble him
♥️Banquo is the therapist husband, he encourages Macbeth not to bottle up his feelings all the time; he can confirm that even kings need to vent sometimes
♥️Making up after a disagreement involves a long snuggle and make out session until they fall asleep
♥️Macbeth is very honoured to be the stepfather of Banquo's son, Fleance. He wishes and does his best to be just as good as a father as his dilf husband is
♥️They both fear death, but what makes them feel better is that they know that they will still be together, even as ghosts
Songs
♥️Don't Delete the Kisses - Wolf Alice
♥️LIGHT SHOWER - Melanie Martinez
♥️Make you Mine - PUBLIC

ok spoilers for macbeth i guess . incoherent ramblings and immediate thoughts abt it bc i'm crazy
- the opening scene made me gasp and cover my mouth the entire way through. the way it opens w a BANG and macbeth washing his hands of the blood while praises of his prowess on the battlefield ring around him but he just looks so haunted and miserable the whole time sets the tone of the play SO well
- macbeth is Losing his fucking mind. from the START. and this is such genius characterization. he is so unwell. he is so on the edge of something terrible from the very beginning of the play and the pushing from the witches and lady macbeth is the catalyst that tips him over the edge. there are remnants of his consciousness and guilt ringing around in there and when they bubble to the surface it is so heartbreaking bc you know they will be snuffed out as the play goes on
- lady macbeth's humanity. i think this is the most human lady macbeth i've ever seen she is so in the throes of loneliness and grief and she misses her husband and thinks the murder will bring them together but instead it sends macbeth into this awful downwards spiral and the guilt eats her alive. when she says macbeth is "too full of the milk of human kindness" it's a mischaracterization. she doesn't know how much her husband has changed while he's been away fighting the war
- THE DAGGER SOLILOQUY the way it's lit and staged and acted like he's talking to his own shadow and convincing himself to do the murder. this scene was fucking amazing from the balcony the way he crawled around on the ground UGHHHHH IT WAS SO SO GOOD
- david looked right up at me when the crown was put on his head and my heart fully stopped right there
- the "full of scorpions is my mind" line reading deserves every single theater award ever on its OWN i DO NOT CARE GIVE DAVID TENNANT EVERY AWARD EVER
- macbeth taking off the crown to talk to the murderers because his killing spree is driven by macbeth the sharp edged violent soldier and not macbeth the king. like Oh my god
- BANQUET SCENE IM CRAZYYYYYY OH MY GODDDDDD FJCKKKKKKK THE WAYYYYYYYY THEY LIT THIS SCENE TO SWITCH FROM MACBETH'S TERROR AT BANQUO'S GHOST TO THE PERSOECTIVE OF THE THANES !!!! I KNEW DAVID WOULD EAT THIS SCENE UP BUT GOD. MY GODDDDD.
- the second scene w the witches was staged SO good and SO creatively like macbeth hallucinating his peers and friends and family and his son being killed and brought back in some twisted possessed form to tell him the prophecies OUGH
- fleance walking up and down the side of the stage. both macbeth and lady macbeth repeating this motion like they're remembering their son and they're haunted by his ghost . FUCK
- the death scene of lady macduff and her son was so violent i gasped out loud again
- malcolm is so fucking good in this like i REALLY like the idea of him being a teenager and the friction between him and macduff comes out of a difference in amount of life lived. also the "face it like a man"/"feel it like a man" lines become so Interesting with transmasc malcolm i need to process my thoughts on this further
- tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow was SOOOOOO. IT WAS SOOOOOOOOO. LIKEEEEEEE even though she pushed him towards duncan's murder lady macbeth was the last tether macbeth had to his humanity at the end and it's so so fucking tragic and sad. like i felt that "signifying /nothing/" within the DEEPEST pits of my soul.
- THE YOUNG SIWARD SCENE. I THOUGHT I KNEW WHAT WAS COMING AND I DIDNT AND I NEED TO BE FUCKING SHOT I NEED TO BE SHOT I JEED TO BE SHOT I NEED TO BE SHOT JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
- macbeth's death was played so perfectly like i don't even have the words for it the whole final fight scene and his death was so fucking good i need to be shaken like ragdoll
- i'm insane

to be thus is nothing; but to be safely thus. our fears in banquo stick deep; and in his royalty of nature reigns that which would be fear'd: 'tis much he dares; and, to that dauntless temper of his mind, he hath a wisdom that doth guide his valour to act in safety. there is none but he whose being i do fear: and, under him, my genius is rebuk'd; as, it is said, mark antony's was by caesar. he chid the sisters when first they put the name of king upon me,and bade them speak to him: then prophet-like they hail'd him father to a line of kings: upon my head they plac'd a fruitless crown, and put a barren sceptre in my gripe, thence to be wrench'd with an unlineal hand,no son of mine succeeding. if 't be so, for banquo's issue have i fil'd my mind; for them the gracious duncan have i murder'd; put rancours in the vessel of my peace only for them; and mine eternal jewel given to the common enemy of man, to make them kings, the seeds of banquo kings rather than so, come fate into the list. and champion me to the utterance!

Ok so, after reading Macbeth and needing to do a scene performance and getting the scene where the witches tell Macbeth the prophecy, I may or may not have gone a little over board on designs for the witches. I dont care if they are possible in the time allocated to me, I will make them happen.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
All the witches will have black cloaks that will have a green interior. For when they disappear they throw the cloak over their person and run off stage.
Witch 1: they will have their hair braided. They will have an even number of braids. A headband from headscarf will be tied in a ring around their head. Two long red strips of cloth tied to frame the face (down to waist). They will have ribbons tied to the headband and crossed to the next braid over. Forming a cross between two ribbons. One white and one blue. White a d blue like the Scottish flag, and the cross as well. They will tell Macbeth he will be king of Scotland.
Witch 2: she will wear a blue headscarf, though now changed to the flag of lochaber, like how Banquo is the thane of lochaber. She will then have on a red head band like the first witch. Then above each braid (twenty preferably and braided in are red ribbons) a red strip of cloth is tied. Then loosely tucked in at the knot of the next cloth. Framing her face is two red strips of cloth.
Witch 3: a head band of lochaber used as a head band. Her hair is tied into two braids that are tied in the back to form a crown. The ribbons are yellow and blue. Tied to her headband, framing her face are again. The two red strips of cloth. Braided into her hair are blue and yellow strips of cloth, not full braided in and left to dangle in the wind.
So now to explain the details.
Witch one will place a crown on Macbeth's head, a bloody dirty one, one Macbeth will try to refuse(he did not want blood on his hands to be king). Macbeth will proceed to tie a red scarf around his neck, for it is cold (a little hint his head will get cut off). The two witches will proceed to take some liquid and write something along the crown of Banquo's head (he will know that Macbeth has taken the throne by not the most honorable of means) and a powder on Macbeth's eyes (when blood touches his hands, blood that was birthed from murder, he will be unable to sleep), he will send this powder to Lady Macbeth who will use it as make up for the rest of the play (she too has trouble falling asleep, and that soon kills her). One witch will place a dagger in Macbeth's hand, which he fails to give back (he did not want to kill). When Banquo asks about his own prophecy, the witches will make a close arch around the front of Macbeth, hands open with a smile, as if ready to accept something; and Macbeth will place the dagger to witch one's hand (Macbeth instructs murderers to kill Banquo). witch one takes the dagger with a smile and picks up Macbeth's crown using it making a slight sweep by his neck (Macbeth will be killed, his head cut off, stuck on a pike, and the crown taken from him). The witch will then say that Banquo would not be as happy while using the dagger to undo the loosely bound cloth on witches two's head, the cloth will hang down (Banquo will take twenty blows to the head, and Macbeth speaks of his bloody locks when he sees his ghost). Before this thought, witch two pushes witch three aside, as if witch three is unable to follow instructions (Banquo urges Fleance to flee). Witch one then places the crown on witch three's head, she is shorter than the rest and looks up at Banquo with a smile like a naive child (Banquo's son lives and will be king). Then Witch one places the dagger she used in Macbeth's hand (this will be the same one used to kill King Duncan). Then as the two thane's beg for more info the witches throw their capes and vanish.
I have more Ideas, I can share more if y'all want

Okay so didn't have enough time 2 infodump for 2day but. I'll just briefly talk about important characters in macbeth .
Macbeth the man himself: super kool soldier who is loved by the king
Lady macbeth: macbeths wife, super slay and manipulative n girl boss . Peer pressures macbeth 2 kill the king so they can become king n queen themselves
King Duncan: the king that macbeth kills
Banquo: Macbeth's friend
Malcolm: I think he's Duncan's son or smth idfk he becomes king at the end basically
There's some other characters but rhey ain't that important lol
Few questions
Why is the King called fucking Duncan
Why does Macbeth sound like a McDonald's menu item made to celebrate the queen's death
Why is Macbeth's wife called Lady Macbeth

IF MONSTER HIGH WAS DOING MACBETH (Now turn three time, spit and swear)...
Okay, here's a deep psychological exercice since the previous post about IF MONSTER HIGH WAS DOING (insert random shakespeare's piece you were forced to read when you were in school).
Just imagine that all of these catastrophic teenage monsters actually put on a good show, without ANY problem (yes I know, I'm asking much), and that Mr. Where, who is already a masochist by being DRAMA teacher in the less safe monster school EVER, want another one for the next scaremester : what can possibly go wrong when the title is actually Macbeth (angel and ministers of grace defend us) ?
Yes, we talk about the cursed scottish play....
THE CURSED CASTING -
King Duncan – Nefera de Nile. She wanted to be the ''Pharaoh'', because daddy dearest is kinda immortal you see ? She never read the play, however, at the joy joyful catharsis of Cleo.
Prince Malcolm - Amanita Nightshade. She just wanted the spotlights into the ''royalty''. She also seems to have read the play, for once...
Prince Donalbain - Scarah Screams. Don't ask. This ghoul just need to have the spotlight and SURVIVE to it, okay ?
Macbeth - Cleo de Nile. She is certain this will be a great lesson for her in the future, by opposing and.... doing wise things ?.... against her sister ? Mr. Where don't really understand these ''De Nile'' things, this is as old as pyramids....
Lady Macbeth - Deuce Gorgon. The snakes will do the stuff, they are this kind of troublesome, at least... But this is weird, because Cleo keep reminding him how gorgon blood can heal and kill alike... What the f... ?
Banquo - Clawdeen Wolf. She don't know again what she is doing here, maybe because Howleen is there also... This is not good, but she don't care about it, because if a Wolf is not in the worst situation at least one time, he can't be a Wolf. This is what her brother said after this whole ''date'' with Draculaura (see Romeo and Juliet)...
Fleance - Howleen Wolf. Never wanted to be there on the first place ! But there was some strange arguments with her siblings about her not be mature enough to do that, so, here she is ! Yes, this is the spirit !
Macduff – Catty Noir. The problem with Black Cats, is that Bad Luck is Good Luck for them. So, now, you can just imagine when Catty just mentionned the Scottish Play by her REAL NAME, said ''Good luck'' before all sessions instead of ''Break a leg, darling'', never done cleansing rituals, call the roles by their real names, came at rep in green and blue.... There is a reason why she was the only one left standing, not only because, hey, she was Macduff. That badass girl SLAYED the curse herself.
Lady Macduff – Seth Ptolemy... Pharaoh. He is fed up with mama, and there some need of a ''sacrificial soul'' for the scottish play, so here he is (and he is like, the official partner of Catty ! Faboolous!)
Macduff's son – Catrine DeMew. A Cat is a Cat, and a Cat for a Cat. Here's the answer. Maybe this is a variant of the play where this poor lad is actually Lady Macduff's ''one night stand''.
Scottish Thanes - Twyla Boogeyman. Yep. You read this correctly. Shadows can be very useful sometimes, even for yourself when you ''have to play''... Which is technically what she is about to do. And she is there for Howleen, also.... Yes, there is a ship going on right now.
Siward - Johnny Spirit. ''Wait... I tought this was going to be ''metal'' and ''mortal'' ?!'' - ''Listen Mr. Spirit ! This is Shakespeare, there is metal in the sword and death at all corner, what did you except ? ''
Young Siward - Kieran Valentine. It's apparently Kieran's ''next therapy's role''. Apparently, there is a catharsis moment when he die as a pure and brave heart, and by being reborn, the curse of Macbeth will give him luck and incarnate himself as a good person in the eyes of other... Maybe he should already decide if he REALLY want to see a REAL therapist ?
The Three Witches - Toralei, Purrsephone, and Mewlody. There will be chaos, they're here for it... So they are going to cause chaos all over this pathetic place, and then, the three witches will not play and disappear (magically) from the final representation.... Well, if you read all of that thing until now, you have to think about that as the smartest move in all the casting.
Hecate - Kjersti Trollson. She want to be recognized for her multi-tasking and multi-roling in Dungeons and Dragons. She also want to put inside of that her overpowered (lv. 50) magician (godling) character who was refused in that same game, AND NOTHING WILL STOP HER.
Three Murderers - Neighthan Rot, Sirena Von Boo, Avea Trotter. The first will kill you accidentally, whatever.
The second will don't remember that she have killed you because even her concept of death is weird. Even before, his her concept of therapy...
The last will absolutly undertake the killing and be proud of it, because you will accuse the two other of murder, and she need to be part of all their shit : real or not, their hybners in crime, at some degrees.
THIS SECTION IS CURSED
The Apparitions - (Insert any Canon ghost name... No, not you're OC or Y/N). There is ghosts at Monster High, you know ? This the largest species's poll in all the present, past, and future characters. Even species that are ambiguously or aren't litteral ghosts, ARE ghosts. We are haunted by ghosts. We are cursed by GHOST. So yes, there is GHOSTS in this play....
The Doctors - The Nurses of Monster High. Yes, not even a joke. Mr. Where is scared that all of this will make him responsible for some very cursely cursed... accidents (the Scottish PLAY !!!). So he's doing like every responsible teachers at Monster High since the symbolic disappearance of Robecca Steam : always some money on the side for the table... for the Lawyer !
Other Roles - Again, innocent and tortured souls, despite all this madness and the word of the cursed Deus Ex-Machina, honor Shakespeare until their last breath (which will be for soon, I fear...). But Mr. Where hold all the money for his lawyer, so yeah, no Backgrounder... :-(
THE LESS THAN FORGOTTEN OTHERS (CURSES)
Technician and special effects – Invisi Billy. He is pistoned. Guess why ?
Prompter - Spelldon Cauldronello. There is a good reason why he was enrolled at the instant. He know cleansing ritual... But he's only understanding now that this is actually ''curse cleansing ritual'', and not ''skin cleansing ritual'', the second ''magical secret'' of the descendants of Circe.
Deus Ex-Machina - De Nile bodyguards and Ramses De Nile. Mr. Where, and all the other students, doesn't understand what's actually happening. Deuce start to understand with the slowest metaphore of ''SHIT''.... It's a De Nile's thing.
How he will explain to Mom-Dusa at this point ?
EPILOGUE – No one will understand what possibly happened on these cursed grounds, for the name of the Scottish Play shall never be uttered (as per by Mr. Where's point of view after that, I guess). But, we can easily say, If we shadow had offended, that Monster High was cursed for another year.... But nobody will care, because, seriously, this is what happen EVERYTIME !
Don't forget to perform you're cleansing ritual, you all ! And thank for reading !
