just read ur entire essay about vegeta and like.. goddamn you just gave me a whole new perspective on that funky little man. i love the way it was written and organized
ALSO ALSO i read this bit and am begging u to expand on this concept it sounds so interesting /gen
Oh you would, would you. I am delighted to oblige.
So. Super Saiyan. A transformation available to Saiyans past certain power thresholds that, while more or less freely accessible after first awakening to it, needs a trigger to become accessible in the first place. Over the course of Z in its many adaptations, we see the first awakenings of Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Gohan onscreen. Goten, Trunks, and Future Gohan are also Super Saiyans, but we don’t know for sure how that came about. Goten and Trunks in particular are why I say that Super Saiyan (more specifically, the first time you access Super Saiyan) can be read as a trauma response, because there’s no real evidence this is the case on their parts. You can make an argument for them, but in general I choose to believe they’re exceptions to this take, so I won’t be discussing them.
Oh and as for Cabba, Caulifla, and Kale…… they’re literally from an alternate universe. Super Saiyan just has different rules there. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Getting back on track. Goku’s the obvious place to start, so let’s look at him first. In the entirety of Dragon Ball (that I’ve seen), not counting the comedic needle bit in that one episode of GT, Goku has only ever been seen crying three times. Once was his reunion with Grandpa Gohan in early Dragon Ball. Once was in the anime’s version of the Tournament of Power, after Roshi’s near-death incident.
Once was at the beginning of King Piccolo, when he finds Krillin dead. King Piccolo saga is a little infamous for the sudden tonal whiplash—yeah, Tien breaks Yamcha’s leg in the tournament just prior, but they make up about it and it’s not as dire as someone dying. What’s really striking to me about it is Goku’s reaction. He’s more upset than we’ve ever seen him. And he loses worse than we ever see him lose because of it. Sure, in the end everything is put right, but.
But, the thing about trauma is that it makes time go weird. Fast forward about ten years. It’s suddenly happening again. His best friend is dead. He couldn’t do anything to stop it. He doesn’t know that Porunga can revive people who have already died once. As far as Goku knows, Krillin’s gone for good this time. And he watched it happen and watched Freeza laugh about it.
And he reacts essentially the same way. Only this time, he’s orders of magnitude stronger than he was when he was 15, and he has the experience and the wherewithal to control himself somewhat better. Emphasis on somewhat, because it’s very clear that he’s worried about going completely off the deep end in the grips of this power. And he’s right to be! I’m willing to bet money that in Gohan’s whole life, Goku has never pulled the ‘I’m your father, don’t talk back to me’ card on him, and that’s one of the smallest ways this power changes him. When he’s fighting Freeza, he’s a lot more like Vegeta, down to the way he smirks. He’s condescending. He’s brutal. I’ve seen comments to the effect of ‘Freeza’s not fighting Goku anymore—now, Freeza’s fighting Kakarot’ and that’s truly what it feels like.
I could go on, but the particulars of the Namek fight aren’t the important part. The important part is that Goku recognizes how badly that whole thing fucked him up and stays on Yardrat for a year explicitly to get a handle on Super Saiyan before returning home. He knows that if he loses control like that again, there’s a very real possibility he’ll end up hurting someone he cares about, or worse, becoming someone he really doesn’t want to be. (Call it a reach, it definitely is one, but I like to believe Goku picked up Instant Transmission while he was there so he’ll never be too late or too far away to help ever again.)
Vegeta’s case is less… visible? So, much of this is going to be purely my extrapolation. If you take him at his word, Vegeta triggered Super Saiyan with the sheer amount of hatred he felt toward himself for his inadequacy and like. Hello. That’s already a giveaway. I don’t believe he’s outright lying, but I also believe he’s simplifying matters a little. Or a lot. Per My Last Long-Winded Essay, he only gets that far because he leaves Earth entirely for areas uninhabited, which is good for him in some respects and bad for him in others.
The sweet irony of it is that it was Vegeta’s own efforts that locked him out of Super Saiyan. He tried to brute-force his way into it singlemindedly, in the belief that he was simply not strong enough, but Super Saiyan’s trigger is raw, overwhelming emotion. It can be one very clear emotion, or several different ones mixed up, but it’s emotion. It doesn’t answer to logic by its very nature, and frankly, neither does trauma. So Vegeta’s removed all the distractions to his training, yes, but in doing so he’s also removed all the distractions from everything else. Without anybody else around, he doesn’t have anything to get himself out of his own head, so now he’s got a whole universe of space for two and a half decades’ worth of repressed shit to come raging out. Funny how the minute he lets himself feel actual emotions other than the ones he wants everyone to see, the transformation explicitly tied to and powered by emotion rears its head, huh.
Vegeta makes several really dumb decisions once he gets back on Earth, in sharp contrast to the way he handles himself on Namek before he’s face-to-face with Freeza. On Namek, he’s careful to fly under the radar whenever he can, which is why I love the fit he launches into when he realizes Gohan played him, because that’s his control slipping. He’s opportunistic and sneaky and it’s clear he’s doing his damnedest to get what he wants without having to fight people who can kill him. He doesn’t hear the Ginyu Force is coming and rush off to challenge them, he’s like ‘oh shit’ and immediately fucks off elsewhere. I can only make sense of the way he acts during the androids/Cell as a symptom of his need to prove himself.
And make no mistake—it is a need, not a want. The power’s meaningless without people to witness and acknowledge it, the same way the authority of royalty is. His chosen course of action, though, is sort of like painting over rotten wood, if that makes any sense. Letting himself get high off the power, pretending that everything went exactly the way it should have gone from the start, refusing to acknowledge all of his Issues more than passingly. Furthermore, his victory must be complete and unquestionable: that’s why he lets Cell take Android 18. He can’t just… not lose, he has to win. Anything less is anathema to him. You see, he hasn’t yet figured out that he can survive without it.
Okay sorry that got a little in the weeds but I hope you get what I was driving at there. Vegeta’s a mess and talking about him makes me Unstable. Let’s move on.
Of the main four Saiyans, I think Future Trunks’ awakening is the simplest to understand: his trigger is that moment of pure, crushing grief when he finds Gohan dead in the rain. And it’s no wonder. Aside from Gohan and his mother, who does Trunks even talk to in that timeline? We never see him with friends, not until Super. Trunks’ ‘You were everything to me’ in the dub version of the special might be only debatably canon but it’s hardly an exaggeration. Friend. Teacher. Comrade. Brother. Perhaps even a father figure, in some ways. Certainly the only other one of his kind—half-human, half-alien from a long-dead warrior race. There was literally nobody else in the world who could come close to understanding him to the degree that Gohan could have. Gohan dies and Trunks is effectively all alone, the terminarch of one species left to shoulder the fate of another.
It’s a staggering loss for anybody, let alone for a boy of 12 or 13.
Speaking of. Gohan. I think Gohan’s a strange case—not powered by grief or anger, but something different. In the moments before he unlocks Super Saiyan, he’s thinking ‘I have to do it’ before flashing abruptly to all the different times where he was ‘too weak or too scared’ to fight. I personally believe that it’s less determination or ‘the power coming in response to a need’, as Goku puts it, that tips him over the edge. Fear, I think—while not being the whole reason, there’s surely some self-directed anger or disappointment involved—is probably the biggest factor. That’s Gohan’s whole thing—he’s scared of fighting, and to some degree of his own power. If I laid out all the specific examples we’d be here for another thousand words, so I’ll just say that he’s been Through It. We all know this.
This sort of has a continuation in the iconic Super Saiyan 2 transformation against Cell. It’s all on him and it’s not until Cell actually kills someone in front of Gohan that it really twigs that it’s do or die for him. And as much as he’s angry at Cell, the realization that Cell means business, that he really will kill them all? It scares him. Fight or flight takes over. The only real difference is that he chooses fight. The change in how Gohan handles Cell is what really convinces me that emotionally he’s going through something similar to Goku and Vegeta—because it’s almost to the letter exactly what happens with Goku against Freeza. The cruelty, the condescension. I’d argue Gohan leans into the mean demeanor, subconsciously or not, to keep from feeling the fear. And it costs him. But the Gohan discussion is a whole other discussion.
As for Future Gohan, I’m putting a disclaimer here now that none of what I’m about to say is really provable—just really really interesting to think about.
Future Gohan’s life is maybe the worst-case scenario. Like the future timeline sucks specifically for Gohan because he doesn’t like to fight and he has to anyway because what other choice does he have? Let everyone on Earth die without at least trying? He couldn’t, not in good conscience. And it’s not like he’ll have a normal life so long as the androids are around anyway. So in the middle of grieving basically everybody he’s ever known and felt affection for (sans his mother and grandfather, it’s more implied that he’s estranged from them, or at least intentionally distancing himself from them to keep them out of harm’s way), he's also making himself channel anger he hates feeling so he has a shot of even surviving these killers that only exist because of something his father did at least ten years ago. This shouldn’t be his fight, and yet.
Here’s my personal theory. Gohan goes into that final fight with the androids fully intending to die. Not just expecting to, but hoping to. He knows that if he was only barely scraping through those fights with both arms, there’s no way in hell he’ll kill them both when he only has one. He’s not an idiot, but you know what he is? Exhausted. Twelve years of this, being the only resistance to this threat and failing each and every time. He knows what will unlock Super Saiyan for Trunks. He knows there’s someone to carry on the torch and lift the burden. And it’s cruel and selfish of him to put all of that on Trunks and throw himself to the wolves, but it was cruel that he had to carry that all by himself for so long.
He’s fucking tired.
Anyways. That’s my TEDtalk on Super Saiyan. If you read it all the way to the end you’re a real one. Thanks for this ask, you two!

Ambition
❧
PAIRING: Vegeta/F!Reader RATING: Explicit CONTENTS: Planet Vegeta AU, Saiyan Reader, Explicit Sexual Content. WARNINGS: DUBCON, Anal Sex. WORDCOUNT: 1675
Summary:
You weren’t royalty, but you still got recognition, and that was as powerful as you could get. You couldn’t have more unless you joined the royal family, and that meant marriage. To Prince Vegeta.
Notes:
For kinktober! I had this idea in mind for a while, I'm glad to be using this for this event 😈 @vegeta-bananabluish enjoy it, honey!
Day 6: Dubcon
Being one of the strongest Saiyan women was a benefit you wanted to exploit to the best of your ability. You had participated in every public battle, every tournament, and every battle royale there ever was, made yourself from the bottom, until your own name had been made. You weren’t royalty, but you still got recognition, and that was as powerful as you could get.
But you wanted more, more strength, more power, more everything. Your ambition was insatiable.
That was it, however. You couldn’t have more unless you joined the royal family, and that meant marriage. To Prince Vegeta.
While it didn’t thrill you to think about such a thing, King Vegeta, on the other hand, saw you as the best suitable partner for his son. Obviously, the lineage had to be only with the strongest warriors, and you were one of them. Which was the reason why you were currently at the palace, standing in front of the prince, with his father by your side.
“Your offspring would be incredibly powerful.” The king’s voice resonated loudly in the room as he casually looked at you like he had caught the most precious gem in the universe.
You tried to contain your expression, but your grimace must have been obvious, especially because the prince kept his eyes on you.
The conversation was one of the most awkward ones for you, but King Vegeta seemed mostly interested in trying to convince the both of you that your union would be the most beneficial (for the Kingdom or whatever). You didn’t necessarily disagree; if you both were the most powerful Saiyans, your children should be just as strong, or even more.
But if the snorts and glares the prince was giving you was any indication, he seemed as thrilled about the idea as you were.
“You seem too feeble to be as strong as my father says you are.” The prince commented casually once the king had left to leave you both alone to ‘get to know each other’.
“I could say the same thing about you.” You arched an eyebrow, scanning him quickly.
Prince Vegeta was actually fierce when it came to power levels, but his appearance didn’t give it away. He was just about your height, short for a Saiyan man.
“Aren’t you rude?” Vegeta snorted, and you caught the twitch in his eye, but he otherwise seemed unbothered.
“Just the right amount.”
“Why does the king even want me to mix with you?”
“This isn’t that great for me either, I know you have a lot of whores you can fuck instead of me.” You rolled your eyes, averting your gaze to the wall on your right.
“Watch your tongue.” Vegeta’s tone was hard, but you paid it no mind. “If you must know, I don’t have whores. I don’t invest my time in such a frivolous and pointless activity.”
“Ah, that explains it.” You sneered, smirking.
“Excuse me?”
“Rumor has it that you’re kind of a prude, and you just confirmed it to me.”
“Not just rude, but also nosy. You have some guts to say all that to my face.”
“Well, it does look like you need it.”
“Need what, exactly?” Vegeta practically growled, and you had to contain your laugh.
“You know, a good lay.”
“And you’re suggesting you’re the best at it?”
“I wasn’t, but I have nothing to lose.” You shrugged your shoulders, smiling cheekily. “After all, it might be frivolous and pointless, but it can be so much fun.”
“I can think of doing something else that could be more fun, which involves me beating you to the ground.” Vegeta grinned, showing off his teeth.
Your excitement was bubbling inside, making the tail wrapped around your waist bristle. Now you were talking.
“You think you can beat me?” You taunted him with a smirk, staring directly into his eyes. “I think I trained more than you have in your lifetime, my prince.”
“Prove it, then,” Vegeta replied with a cocky grin on his face.
You were confident in your abilities, but the fight that ensued on the training grounds moments later had caught you off guard. Vegeta was strong, incredibly so, and you had been positive you could be a match for him when it came to one on one combat, but not only did he outclass you, but he was literally beating you to the ground, like he said he would.
And you were pissed. Which only made you much more sloppy.
Vegeta had you pressed face first into the ground, with a hand on your head and pinning one of your wrists to the dirt. You were both covered in bruises and cuts by then, but the humiliation you felt for being so clearly overpowered hurt more.
Squirming underneath him, you unsuccessfully tried to free yourself from his hold, earning a scornful laugh in return.
“Didn’t you say you had trained more than I had? Is this the fruit of your efforts?”
You growled, angry at him and yourself, using the little strength you had to free yourself, but it was pointless.
“This wasn’t nearly as fun as I expected it to be.” Vegeta mocked you, and even when you couldn’t see him, you knew there was a shit-eating smirk on his face. “Maybe you were actually right before. Fucking you would be have been fun.”
Your mind froze when his words reached your ears, in disbelief of what you had actually heard.
There wasn’t much time to think when Vegeta pinned your arm behind your back, making it easier for him to keep his hold on you as he shifted, reaching for the hem of your pants with his free hand.
“Get off me!” You groaned, attempting to move your legs to kick him off.
Vegeta had completely subdued you, and you could barely even move as he crouched down, pressing his knees on your legs. You gasped loudly when he pulled down your pants and underwear in one move, but it was even worse when you felt his eyes fixed on your behind, simply staring for what felt like ages.
You hated it to admit it, but as much as you despised losing, this situation was turning you on more than you would have ever expected. But you hoped to God it wasn’t noticeable, and that by some miracle, his sense of smell was failing him too.
His glove was off in an instant, and you flinched when his hot fingers glided over the skin between your legs, dipping in just a little inside your folds.
So much for hoping it wasn’t obvious how aroused you were; the wet sound from his touch was obscene.
“What a lewd little creature, this wet from being thrown to the ground?” Vegeta teased you, and you didn’t have it in you to even reply. Why even deny it?
He slid three fingers in at once, and you practically jumped, taken aback by the sudden fullness. You tried to keep as quiet as you could, biting your lips so as not to moan, or worse, whimper. He was clearly toying with you, his touch was vague, soft, slipping in and out absentmindedly.
“Are you actually going to do something?” You finally asked, once you felt your clit throb with want after being ignored the whole time.
“Shut up, I’ll do what I want, when I want to.”
You grumbled resentfully, until you felt his fingers slip out and up, making you gasp and jump when his digits pressed against your asshole.
“Wh-What are you doing?!” You growled, attempting to fight him off once more.
“I’m going to fuck you here, stay still unless you want this to actually hurt.” Vegeta said, voice low with lust and dominance.
“No! I don’t-I don’t want that!” You protested, still squirming to get rid of him, but knowing it was pointless.
“Who said this was about what you wanted?” He sneered, tightening the grip he held on your wrist, making you wince. “You’re not in any position to demand shit.”
Resisting all you could with the little strength you had left, you flinched when you felt one of his fingers slid inside your rear entrance.
Vegeta was actually doing that. In the training grounds of all places.
It was one of the most humiliating things you had to endure, and you hoped to God no one would actually walk in and see what he was doing to you. What hurt the most was how aroused you were at being in such a helpless position. Even after he got three fingers in, you couldn’t help but be dripping wet, and he must have known.
You couldn’t help the moan that slipped out when Vegeta finally pushed his cock in, making him laugh hoarsely once he was pressed flush to your ass.
“Didn’t you say you didn’t want this? Your body is saying otherwise.”
Once he started pounding into you, the noises coming from your lips were inevitable. Gasps, whimpers and moans spilled out incessantly. You didn’t want to admit that you were enjoying the way his hips snapped against yours; even when he let go of your arm, you didn’t even dare to try and get away like you had before, completely submitting to him instead, digging your hands into the dirt to get some kind of hold as your body was dragged with each harsh thrust.
When Vegeta grabbed your tail, tugging at it hard as means to keep you in place while he rammed into you, you were too far gone to even care, lifting your butt as best as you could to offer yourself more to him, like a cat in heat. It didn’t really hurt when he held your appendage, but it left you even much more sensitive to his ministrations.
Any shame you could have felt was forgotten as he kept pummeling you into the ground, and his dark chuckle mixed in with your whimpers as you quickly sneaked a hand under your body to touch yourself.

Oh, shit. New episode of Daima. For some reason I thought this aired on Saturdays but apparently it's a Friday release schedule?
Hahaha, what? Since when is that a thing? XD That is not a thing.
There is a bit of inconsistency with Shenron in post-Z materials. Resurrection F had a plot hole where Shenron only granted two wishes.
So, the way the rules work, Shenron will grant three wishes unless one of them is a mass-resurrection; That basically uses up two wish slots. You can also bank wishes, having him grant less than three in order to shorten the Dragon Balls' recharge time.
But a lot of people struggle to remember how this works, including official creators who work on Dragon Ball. Resurrection F had a notable plot hole where Shenron granted only two wishes despite not granting a mass-revive.
The Broly movie (the good one) only had him grant one. So this new rule Daima pulled out of its ass kinda works like a rules patch to fill in those plot holes. Oh, that's why Cheelai only got one wish!
Resurrection F is still borked. You can reason out that, because the Pilaf Gang were there and they've summoned Shenron once, the group counted as a regular. But the original problem of only getting two wishes granted remains a plot hole.
So... yeah, okay. It's a rather abrupt fix but I'll take it..
...hang on, remind me what the wish was again?
Oh! Okay. Carry on. I was confused by how people like Dende, the Muten-Roshi, Bulma, and Chi-Chi qualify as having fought Majin Buu but the "and their friends" bit covers it.
I mean, they were killed by Majin Buu. But if that was enough to qualify, the entire planet would be children right now.
So, yeah, this threw me but no, we're good. Nothing to see here. The wish was suitably broad as to cover the entire cast.
Far away, in a park somewhere, Ranger 17 is trying to figure out if spontaneous chibification is byproduct of being made into a bio-android that Gero didn't live to explain to him. Is he going to keep de-aging until he's a fetus!? Bulma's voicemail is blowing up right now.
Yamcha's date just got super awkward.
Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu are continuing to spar and refusing to acknowledge it.
We are all going to ignore the existence of Mr. Buu because this plot is not ready to deal with the fact that it just turned him back into Pure Buu. But that's okay because Dragon Ball is used to ignoring Buu. Maybe the paradox of being, himself, Majin Buu but also being a friend of the people who fought Majin Buu shielded him from the effect.
Shapner and Erasa are even worse off than 17, since they don't even have a contact to get answers from. Fortunately, the rest of Gohan's class is probably fine. Those two were the only ones he seemed to talk to.
Somewhere, deep in space, exactly one member of the Frieza Force hung out with Vegeta during off-hours way back when, just enough to be having the weirdest fucking day right now.
Piccolo has not caused a single person to be afflicted as collateral damage. Let us all take a moment to celebrate his dedication to loneliness.
I want him on the team.
...actually, I want Videl on the team, but since they obviously won't give me that, I will accept her father.
Where are Videl and Gohan, anyway? They're right on the fence where they could have gone either way with that wish.
I can't stop looking at Popo's horns. We've never seen him without his turban anymore. Are we finally about to get an explanation for what he is and where he comes from? Is that answer going to be Makai?
Oh, I'm sorry, Daimakai. Not the Demon World. The Great Demon World. Like how "Demon King Piccolo" is actually Piccolo-Daimao, not Piccolo-Mao.
Goku: Man, I wish I had a brother! Popo: Goku, didn't your brother kill you? Goku: Nah, that was Piccolo. I don't know what you're talking about. I'd remember having had a brother at some point.
Really. We're doing "Kami's Spaceship"?
(sigh)
Playing the hits.
DON'T BREAK POPO'S STUFF DON'T BREAK POPO'S STUFF DON'T BREAK POPO'S STUFF DON'T BREAK POPO'S STUFF
SIXTH RULE OF POPO'S TRAINING
Karin didn't get hit by the wish? Man, if I were him, I would feel so disrespected right now.
His godhood can't be what shielded him because Dende did get hit, and he's a higher rank of deity than Karin is. He was just protected because nobody who fought Majin Buu loves him. Awww.
He lost it to Maron (not to be confused with Marron) in a game of strip poker.
I mean, he didn't. That only happened in anime filler, so it's non-canon. But I desperately want that to be where it is, if only so we can send Chibi Krillin to talk to the woman his daughter is accidentally named after.
(By his own admission, Toriyama didn't watch the anime. Which makes that particular oversight hilarious.)
I hope we can spend as little time as humanly possible with the Muten-Roshi.
The "joke" of him being an insatiable sexual predator is generally noxious and the anime often dials it up to 11. But in this particular circumstance, where he's way too young to be hitting on adult women but also a 300-year-old man which means inflicting him on girls "his age" would be extremely gross?
Yeah. Let's just. Have as little of this guy as possible.
That said....
The other recurring Roshi gag where he is unforgivably irresponsible with ancient magical artifacts of legendary repute is put to great use here.
Piccolo: I don't even remember Namek. Do you remember Planet Vegeta? Vegeta: I remember Planet Vegeta. Piccolo: Nobody cares, Vegeta. Vegeta: :( If I wasn't chibi I'd kill you all. Bulma: That's nice, dear.
Oh, I am absolutely going to underestimate the shit out of him.
He only became king of Daimakai because Dabra was killed in action. From this, we can presume that he is less powerful than Dabra, who is equal in strength to Cell.
Also. Just. Considering the source. It was literally a running bit that people Kaioshin considers unbelievably formidable were hopeless pushovers against Goku and Vegeta. He is not a reliable judge of who is and is not a thing to be feared.
Still likely a dangerous foe but only because the post-Buu era cast have had their abilities nerfed. If Goku were at full strength he could definitely finger-flick Gomah into the sun.
Daisanmakai, or Demon World #3.
Not the same dai as in Daimakai. 大 Dai means "Great" while 第 Dai is basically a # mark. I wonder if Daimakai is the main Demon World, or a term for the collective of all Demon Worlds? I bet it's the latter.
Oh, hey! We're playing the hits with "Baby Bulma inspects Jaco's spaceship". Congratulations on making it into the Dragon Ball Referential Hall of Fame, Jaco.
It's subtle, and it's remixed very well into the plot which makes it less noticeable, but I still caught that.
Ahh, this was way better than the first episode. Judging from the credits, it looks like Bulma, Vegeta, and Piccolo will be joining Goku and Kaioshin in Daimakai, but the rest of the cast can get fucked.
That's a shame. Not really any point to casting such a broad net with the wish if we're keeping the cast trimmed down this far.
Still, looking forward to exploring Daimakai!

I'm hyped for this game!
(I was supposed to post this like 2 weeks ago & didn't. Gonna post it now even tho some new information has came out.)
youtube
I wanted a game where there are what-if scenarios. But my idea was that it completely altered the story. Idk if Sparking Zero will do that tho. Probably to a lesser extreme than what I thought.
WHAT IF SCENARIOS:
I made this and didn't post it. Then more info came out that kinda confirmed some of what I speculated.
But with scenarios like this??? Goku refuses help from Piccolo so Krillin follows Goku to fight Raditz (Battle of Z did that scenario too). Krillin was gonna go help Goku too even tho he knew he sould likely die. And if Goku refused Piccolo's help, of course Krillin would go help his bro save Gohan.
Krillin fought Freeza in his 1st, 2nd, & final forms. Final Form Freeza was far stronger than Krillin. Goku was closer to Freeza in strength but still weaker. Yet Krillin hung in there against Freeza & even almost killed 2nd form Freeza with a Kienzan. Goku & Krillin could realistically team-up against Raditz & win (with help from Gohan) if they outsmart him along with outmaneuvering him with their synchronized Turtle School style.
I watched Dotodoya's videos & without spoiling too much... I was right, but with extra steps. And the characters were implemented well & the dialogue was interesting.
Then, we have a scenario where Krillin dies fighting against Oozaru Vegeta (he probably saved Goku from getting crushed) which makes Goku turns Super Saiyan during the Saiyan Saga.
Is this a result of Goku not dying against Raditz because Krillin helped defeat Raditz without Goku dying? If so, this means Goku never trained with King Kai, so Goku doesn't know the Kaio-Ken nor the Genki Dama. Krillin dies helping a weaker Goku sho doesn't have King Kai's techniques, then Goku gets more than enough power to defeat Vegeta by turning Super Saiyan. So, some scenarios may actually change the story more than we think.
How would this effect the Freeza Saga? @dragon-ball-meta has a good answer.
My thoughts are that changes in one saga have to be course corrected in the next saga.
Oozaru Vegeta kills Krillin
Goku turns SSJ & defeats Vegeta
SSJ Goku spares Vegeta & mocks him by saying Vegeta lost to a low-class Saiyan (like how SSJ Goku spared then mocked Freeza for being defeated by a Saiyan)
Krillin, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, & Yamcha go train with King Kai (maybe they learn Kaio-Ken & the Genki Dama instead since Goku has SSJ)
Depending on if Piccolo survived the battle against the Saiyans, perhaps he & Gohan accompany Goku to Namek
Vegeta is on Namek too and tries to become a Super Saiyan by trying to be like Goku (and trying to be more like Goku what Vegeta does after the Cell Saga & is why Vegeta became a kinder person)
The Namekian Dragon Balls are used to wish Krillin back to life, Chaotzu back to life, then Namekian Dragon Balls become inert before they can make a 3rd wish (or Piccolo is wished back if he is dead)
Over the battles, Goku gets stronger and learns how to turn SSJ when facing Freeza instead of using Kaio-Ken & Goku believes he killed Freeza
Once back on Earth, the Dragon Balls are used to resurrect Yamcha & Tien along with those killed on the day the Saiyans attacked
Now at the start of the Cell Saga, everything is pretty much reset to how it was supposed to be, but Goku might fight Mecha Freeza & King Cold on Earth as Future Trunks watches then delivers a grave warning
This outcome may even result in Vegeta being a kinder person earlier than in canon & him teaching Trunks his new technique, then we get a Father-Son Final Flash
(The arena is still there, so maybe Vegeta takes Goku's offer to fight Cell first, then Trunks hops in to help Vegeta survive against Cell)
Goku sacrifices himself when Cell is about to self-destruct, thus the Saga ends how it did canonically & then we go into the Buu Saga. Then Goku can learn the Kaio-Ken & Genki Dama from King Kai during the 7 years between the Cell Saga & the Buu Saga
So, if there were major alterations in the Cell Saga, the Buu Saga would restore things back to "normal" depending on the altered scenarios. Or at least those are my thoughts/hopes. This game could have tons of replay value. The type of DB game that I always wanted!
CHARACTER POV:
There is also something about the story following from the pov of 8 characters.
More info came out. You can watch scenes normally or switch to watch them from the POV of the character available for the scene. We see this in a trailer when Goku is using Instant Transmission to move Cell from Earth. We also see this 1st person POV when Piccolo uses a Special Beam Cannon on Raditz & Goku.
I think it will be, Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Future Trunks, Tien, Yamcha. We already saw some events from Goku's POV during the Saiyan Saga & Cell Saga.
However, there are two POVs I want to see... 👀
I'm joking lol 😅 (kinda 👀). But, I bet we could see everyone get defeated from Krillin's perspective, then when 18 kisses him.
OTHER THINGS I WONDER ABOUT & HOPE FOR:
The story for Super Hero will be fun. That will mainly be a Piccolo POV. I wonder what changes could be made too. Will there be an option to request the help of 17? What will the fight against Cell Max be like? Can you choose who to play as during the battle between Gohan & Piccolo?
And the unlockable costumes? All the different costumes from DB to DBS plus the Super Hero & Daima DLC will be so cool! I wonder if you can mix some costumes up. Like give Krillin his DBS hair while he is in his Buu Saga outfit.
I'm excited for certain team attacks too. The main one being K18's team attack they did during the Tournament of Power. And interesting enough, 18 didn't form this pink energy attack, Krillin did. So maybe he would have to be on her team for there to be this special team attack.
I hope we get other cool team attacks. Like Roshi performing a Kamehameha with his students, a 17 & Krillin team attack, Videl & Gohan, Vegeta DBS & Future Trunks DBS, Goku & Krillin spiral Kamehameha (from DBS EP 76). And I hope we get get special animations for finishers like 18 vs Giant Ribrianne.
So why not add other things from the DBS anime continuity? Most of the character designs & techniques of the characters are from the DBS anime continuity.
One stage is from the DBS anime continuity of Universe 10's Kai planet
Full Power Jiren who is shirtless aint in the manga
Kakunsa's attacks aren't in the manga, I don't recall Max Power Roshi being in the manga
SSBK isn't in the manga
Certain orb attacks that Beerus has is anime exclusive
God of Destruction Toppo is anime exclusive (I'm sure that will get a reveal too)
Bergamo & his team attack with his brothers is anime exclusive
SSJ2 Kefla's attack is anime exclusive
Spirit Sword Future Trunks is anime exclusive
The halo behind Fused Zamasu & the ki bird thing he creates is anime exclusive
Corrupted Fused Zamasu is anime exclusive
Alot of the supers and ultimate come from the DBS anime (like DBS 17's attacks).
The Gamma Burst Flash for SSB Vegeta is from the DBS manga continuity.
The very end of Krillin's Ultimate Attack is the Super Destructo Disk & to me it resembles the big Kienzan he uses against Cell Max. (This move will look so cool on Cell Max!)
I'd like to see an option to give Krillin his attacks from DBS as interchangeable supers; Solar Flare ×100 which would blind the opponent & make it so that they cannot lock on to Krillin for a few seconds even is they turn the camera to see him. An attack where he throws his stinky shoe at his opponent then blasts them with a Kamehameha. And I would really love it if they give Krillin his Non-Self State power as a power-up similar to Kaio-Ken for base Goku (early & mid), Kaio-Ken for Super Saiyan Blue Goku, & Golden Freeza powering up to True Golden Freeza. They could call it "Dormant Potential" or something & it gives Krillin a buff, a different aura, & slightly changes his combat.
This link, but for Sparking Zero instead.
So, there is a chance Krillin could get his power-up from DBS EP 76 as a sort of Kaio-Ken type of techniques. I just hope it happens since I'm a huge Krillin fan 🤞
DBS MANGA CHARACTERS:
It's probably unlikely for DBS manga exclusive characters to make the roster. Unless its a DLC then maybe we could get Moro, Merus, Gas, Granolah. Which would be the first time they make an appearance in a game. We already have Vegeta's Gamma Burst Flash from the manga's Tournament of Power Saga & Future Trunks using Solar Flare like he did in the nanga. So these characters could be on the way if they aren't on the main roster.
I doubt there will be a "True Ultra Instinct" because that is just convoluted & pointless. Probably no susanoo Ultra Instinct Goku either. If it is in the game, maybe its a DLC super move to give Goku a Giant form. Then ppl could do Susanoo Goku vs Oozaru Vegeta.
I feel like Ultra Ego could be possible IF they do a manga DLC or make a poll for characters that players want to have in the game. I personally dislike the design of UE, but that's just me. I dislike the lack of eyebrows that SSJ3 has. I like the design of Ultra Supervillain Vegeta from Xenoverse 2 better than Ultra Ego. Anyway, what would Ultra Ego Vegeta's moveset be? His Ultimate would be a giant Hakai ball, a technique that is similar to super armor where getting his amplifies his strength... Stuff like that I guess. Some melee attacks from the manga as a super too.
GT & DBZ MOVIE CHARACTERS:
Idk if there will be GT & Z Movie characters this time in the base roster. But I feel like GT has to be included at some point. I just believe DBZ through DBS will be the main focus for characters & story. The Main Continuity is DB, DBZ, & DBS (and probably Daima too) while GT is a separate continuity that includes Z Movie characters. But I feel like they have to include SSJ4 Gogeta & Z Broly at some point. They are too iconic to the series and to the Budokai games.
Sorry I put so much of my thoughts all here. If I make other posts, they will remain as drafts for way too long & become pointless.

Dragon Ball Z: Abridged – Plan to Eradicate Christmas Review
Originally posted... today!
Instead of the true meaning of Christmas, we see the true meaning of an abridged series.
Over the course of Dragon Ball Z: Abridged, Team Four Star has established a lot of minute details about its characters. We saw in Christmas Tree of Might that Goku is earth’s most ardent defender of Christmas. We also learned that across the universe, very few people got to celebrate Christmas, as it was replaced by Freeza Day on any planet he conquered. And we learned that even before Freeza conquered Planet Vegeta, Santa was never able to visit them to spread love and good cheer, because the Saiyans tried to shoot him down.
Every single one of those details is capitalized on here in Plan to Eradicate Christmas. Through snippets of character interaction, we learn that Goku has been itching to defend Christmas yet again. We see Freeza’s ego displayed as he commands the Villains of Christmas past to referthemselves as the Villains of Freeza Day Past, despite them having agreed upon Christmas. Even Santa’s inability to deliver presents to Planet Vegeta is called back to, as Vegeta nostalgically recalls his favorite Christmas pastime of shooting energy blasts at Santa’s sleigh.
If these callbacks rested solely on referring back to things we already know, it’s possible that they could fall flat, but every single one is rooted in the nature of these characters we’ve come to know and love. Of course the violent egomaniac Vegeta would try to shoot down Santa’s sleigh. Of course Freeza would refuse to bow to the demands of Cooler, Turles, and King Picc…Lord Slug, who he all views as his lesser. And of course, the battle hungry, ever optimistic Goku would be salivating over another opportunity to save Christmas, his most wonderful time of the year.
The specificity of these characters is also what makes Santa work so well as a villain here. After our heroes defeat the Villains of Christmas Past, they are confronted by Santa, who reveals that all have been naughty and fallen short of the glory of Santa. Vegeta is, well Vegeta, we know what he’s done. Goku’s lust for battle endangers the entire universe, brought to the forefront with a perfectly timed ad for Dragon Ball Super, and Piccolo is held to account for his and his father’s past attempts at world domination.
Even Trunks is at fault, having time traveled so recklessly as to endanger the space-time continuum, brilliantly highlighted with a cut to what I believe is Dragon Ball GT footage. Only Gohan is without naughtiness, and is granted a present by Santa, but like every Christmas before, Santa gives him what he likes, and he likes books.
The jokes in this Christmas special all land so well because they draw on our understanding of these characters, who we’ve gotten to know over the course of the last decade Dragon Ball Z: Abridged has been produced. It’s genuinely delightful to see Team Four Star tackle a Christmas special once more as well, as they manage to turn a story from an uninteresting OVA with a generic villain into a hilarious Christmas romp.
Plan to Eradicate Christmas is a great example of what abridged series can do at their best. They can take weak ideas and repurpose them, giving them new life and meaning with a comedic edge. Team Four Star really did go and give us a gift in Christmas 2018, and showed us what abridging is really all about.
Rating: 4.5/5
Stray Observations
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the fantastic music Cliff Weinstein composed for this special. Christmas Eve-olution / Carol of the Hells is the standout track in particular. It is wonderfully ominous and builds perfectly to the final confrontation and group Kamehameha.

Dragon Ball Super manga ch.81-83
Yeah, that’ll happen.
All right, so the Heeters tricked Granolah into fighting Goku and Vegeta, when in fact they were the real enemy the whole time. During the fight, they ripped off Granolah’s idea to just use the Dragon Balls to wish for ultimate power, and they made their own top fighter, Gas, the strongest warrior in the universe.
Granolah had been holding his own against Gas, despite being in second place, but once Gas got his shit together he quickly beat Granolah down, breaking his arms, hurting his eyes, and now Elec has shot him for good measure.
You know, it seems kind of weird how Granolah was the literal strongest warrior in the universe only a few chapters ago, and now that he’s #2, any rando with a gun and put a hole in him. And by “kind of weird”, I don’t mean “unusual”, because that’s how the power scaling in Dragon Ball has worked from the beginning. For decades now, fans have understood the top of the pecking order to be very clearly defined. It used to be Vegito and Super Buu at the top of the scale, and these days it’s pretty much Whis and Beerus if you don’t count deities from other universes. All the arguments fans have are always about the lower tiers. Is Ultimate Gohan stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku? Where’s base Vegito go on that list? Stuff like that. And it’s fuzzy because once you stop being a top dog in this franchise, it sort of stops mattering, and any dope with a gun can kill you.
All right, so Granolah’s down, and Gas had used some sort of power on Goku and Vegeta to immobilize them, so Vegeta gives his power to Goku to give them a fighting chance. Goku keeps Gas busy so Monaito can heal Granolah, but there’s not much he can do against Gas. At first he’s livid over the way the Heeters seemed to kill Granolah, but then he tries to quell his emotions so he can use Ultra Instinct. Gas doesn’t get it and neither do I. Neither does Goku, as we’ll soon see.
So this all started because the Heeters have been using Granolah for decades, and now they’ve decided he’s become a threat. But Gas doesn’t really care about Granolah anymore. He wants Goku, because he just learned that Goku is the son of Bardock, the Saiyan who rescued Granolah and Monaito during the sack of Planet Cereal. At that time, Bardock and Gas fought, and Gas wants to avenge that loss. But Goku has no memory of his father, and Gas is frustrated that it just isn’t the same. Goku doesn’t even comprehend who he is, so Gas dismisses him as a threat.
So they do a bunch of cool shit where Gas telekinetically throws trains through the air, but he’s just toying with Goku, and Goku’s just stalling for time. At last, he uses Instant Transmission to take Gas to another planet altogether, which gives Monaito a clear shot to heal Granolah.
This brings us to Chapter 82, where Goku keeps teleporting across the universe, hopping from planet to planet and daring Gas to chase him. Apparently, when you wish to become the strongest warrior in the universe, the Dragon Balls will give you teleportation powers, possibly superior to Goku’s Instant Transmission. But Gas only just got this ability, while Goku’s been practicing it for over fifteen years. He can’t hope to go toe-to-toe with Gas, but this way, he has the initiative.
Anyway, this leads to a quick tour of the galaxy, as Goku leads Gas to characters like Jaco, the Galactic King, and Monaka, who is apparently delivering space manure to the middle of nowhere for some reason.
We also stop at the Galactic Prison, because most of the stops on this trip are just places we saw in the Moro Saga, which is kind of weak, honestly. The recaptured prisoners recognize Gas and start talking about how he wet his pants once, which Gas can’t actually deny. I had to read this and now so do you.
At last, Goku lures Gas to wherever Whis happens to be, and then he just nopes right back to Planet Cereal, leaving Gas completely bewildered. This way, Goku can return to keep the other Heeters from killing Monaito and Granolah, and it’ll take a while for Gas to return to the battlefield.
So the gang head back to Monaito’s house to regroup. Oatmeel drives them, because Oatmeel can transform into a little pit-droid from Phantom Menace. On the way, Goku gets a call from Whis, who slipped a communication device on Goku during their brief interaction. He informs Goku that Gas is already heading back to Cereal, and this time he’s just flying through space at incredible speed instead of using Instant Transmission. His ETA is 20 minutes, which... isn’t that about how fast Whis can travel through space? It’s about 26 minutes from Earth to Beerus’ planet, so is Gas on Whis’ level now? Then again, Whis can’t do Instant Transmission.
Anyway, the point of all of this is that Whis asks Goku how his Ultra Instinct training is going, and Goku admits he can’t seem to get the hang of calming his emotions the way Whis does. Whis isn’t surprised, since he’s an Angel and Goku’s not. They’re fundamentally different beings, so it doesn’t make sense for them both to use Ultra Instinct the same way.
And this was where Goku’s been missing the point of Whis’ lessons. He thought he had to be more like Whis to master UI, but Whis was trying to tell him that he can’t be more like Whis, so Goku will have to master UI in his own unique way. Fundamentally, Goku has to understand himself, not imitate someone else.
And this may also be what Vegeta was doing wrong with Ultra Ego as well. When he lost to Granolah, he lamented that he couldn’t apply Beerus’ teachings to their fullest, because Vegeta couldn’t be as callous as a God of Destruction. Well of course he can’t, because he’s not a God of Destruction. Beerus knew that, but he taught Vegeta anyway, because he had a feeling that Vegeta could learn to master the training in his own way.
Early into this arc, it started to feel like Goku and Vegeta were becoming proxies for Whis and Beerus. Beerus gave Vegeta one of those earrings he wears to signify Vegeta as a being who can wield Hakai energy, and Whis wrote his name on Goku’s shirt again, like he did in Resurrection F. And we just saw Goku get worked up into a classic Super Saiyan rage when Elec shot Granolah, but then he calmed himself down because he didn’t want that righteous fury to get in the way of his best technique. It all seemed very out of character for Goku and Vegeta, and now we learn in this chapter that this was by design. They were trying too hard to imitate their masters, and now they’re finally realizing where they went wrong.
So there’s still a few minutes to prepare for Gas, but Monaito’s healing abilities aren’t fast enough to get Granolah back in the game. Instead, he shows Goku something Bardock left behind on Planet Cereal: his scouter, which had been damaged during his own fight with Gas. Monaito suggests that it might contain recordings from the Bardock/Gas fight, which could give them a lead on how to beat Gas today. That seems like a stretch, but whatever. Maybe Monaito understood Whis’ riddle about “understanding yourself” better than Goku did.
Anyway, the scouter is damaged, but Oatmeel can read the files and play back the audio, and Goku hears his father’s voice for the first time as he tells Monaito to take kid Granolah away from the battle. He specifically tells him to “stay alive”, and that awakens something in Goku, as he seems to finally remember the moment when Bardock shot him into space as a baby. Bardock told Goku to stay alive, and I guess hearing the same words in the same voice are enough to bring back those memories.
Then we get a flashback to the Bardock/Gas fight. Then, as now, Gas transformed to get the advantage. Monaito couldn’t convince Bardock to withdraw, so instead he pulled out the Dragon Balls and tried to wish for Bardock to be teleported to his home planet. The trick is that the Dragon had to ask Bardock’s permission first, and Bardock refused, because of his SAYIN’ PRIDE and such.
Monaito can’t convince Bardock to abandon the battle, so he finally jumps in to save Bardock when he gets in over his head, and then he passes out, which is why Monaito doesn’t remember this part of the fight. Bardock makes the babyface comeback and wrecks Gas’ shit, and when Gas asks him what could possibly motivate him so much, Bardock tells him that the only thing going through his mind is the pursuit of victory, and he wins.
Then Elec shows up to pick up his baby brother and he hints to Bardock about Frieza’s plans to wipe out the Saiyans. At first I was annoyed that Elec would know anything about this, since at this point in the timeline, I’m not sure Frieza himself had made any hard decisions. But Elec is an intel junkie, so he’s probably heard plenty of rumors and it’s like I said before, you don’t need to have psychic foresight to predict that Frieza would destroy the Planet Vegeta.
What is a little weird is how Elec makes a joke about Bardock needing to watch out for meteor strikes, a little call-forward to the lie Frieza spread to cover up his crime. Except that hasn’t happened yet, so how would Elec know to make such a reference...? Unless Frieza has done this sort of thing before and used the same meteor story. Maybe Elec knows what’s going to happen to the Saiyans because it already happened to his own home planet... Food for thought.
Anyway, Elec shoots Bardock but he gets called away to deal with Frieza, so he can’t be bothered to make sure Bardock actually died. Monaito also survived his injuries, and they both recovered. And I think that covers the flashback part of this arc. So we now know how Bardock beat Gas, but does that help Goku and Vegeta in any way? We shall see...

Why I ship Ancient Snow (Shallot x Weiss Schnee)
Disclaimer
The following post will contain the writer's justification and defend his reasons for what some may see as a crack ship. This pairing will most certainly conflict with Canon and the personal Headcanons of others. So, please at least engage in civil conversation/debate once you read this post. Thank you.
So, Shallot of Dragon Ball and Weiss Schnee of RWBY. Some would ask, why? A former Heiress to essentially a defunct company since Volume 8 and a temporal displaced Saiyan that is connected to the Super Saiyan God and Sadalan parts of DB Lore? A strange pairing and you would be right in your assumptions. And yes, I know some would assume/headcanon Shallot not caring for romance and Weiss being a 'comphet lesbian' in personal headcanons. Dragon Ball is one of the more famous Shounen Anime/Manga to establish tropes that the genre is (in)famous for and RWBY is a franchise of breaking certain tropes in the eyes of others.
On the subject of
Weiss Schnee
As described by her voice actor Kara Eberie, Weiss is "nice but also can be a little bitchy", which is evidently demonstrated in the Beacon Days (Vols 1-3) through her irritability and her confidence in her abilities. Though, she also acknowledges her own deficiencies and the need to hone her skills further. Weiss' confidence in both her skills and intellect come off as arrogant to others, especially to her own teammates. Over her time in Beacon, her 'ice queen' demeanor began to thaw through getting to know her peers, especially with Blake as she accidentally revealed her Faunus heritage and her being an ex-White Fang Member. When Beacon Fell and after being retrieved by her father, Weiss was affected by the traumatic events and she grew intolerant of the lifestyle she grew up in.
Going through the adventure with her team over the course of the series, Weiss grew from the typical Atlesian to a young woman who sought to make a name for herself as a Huntress. Out of her father's shadow and right the wrongs of the SDC and Schnee family that was done under Jacques' control and influence.
On the subject of
Shallot
Like any Saiyan, Shallot is aggressive and short-tempered, but he has his own morals and doesn't like to be commanded. Though he can be initially cold toward others, he can't stand to see innocents such as children being harmed. Hailing from an Era before the Saiyans joined the Cold Force, Shallot is very different from the usual Saiyan. Sure, he desires to get stronger and a good fight, but he's not one for wanton murder like the Saiyans under Cold/Freeza's/King Vegeta's orders. In his original timeline, he and his twin brother Giblet fought against the amoral faction of their people.
Seeing the results of his side losing, even being referred to as the 'Blood of the Defeated', he's willing to prove himself strong, but not resort to the barbarism of the vicious Saiyans who became infamous in the universe. Pure-Hearted like Goku, he's willing to fight for others, even if it costs him his life.
How would they work?
Despite Shallot having little interest in romance like most Saiyans, he would see Weiss as a determined warrior to fight with in battle. Weiss, being one to prove herself in combat again and again would gain Shallot's respect and admiration. In turn, though Shallot's demeanor would make things rocky at first, she would grow to respect his willingness to help others. Plus, there's that tidbit mentioned in the Dragon Ball Super Manga about Saiyans and strong-willed women.

Broly movie semi-liveblog because of reasons
I only ever watched the original Broly movie once or twice cus of the suuuper long fight scene ending (and I think it came out, or we borrowed it from Blockbuster, around the time I was losing interest in DBZ)…which is great cus watching it now after the reboot movie has me going in almost totally fresh
Krillin’s puppy song (and how he just pauses then keeps singing after the ship lands X’D so you just hear him wailing in the background during Paragus’ big speech)
Paragus: I’m starting a new planet and I want you to be king Vegeta: :/ Paragus: Uhh…there’s also this big strong bad guy and only YOU can stop him! Vegeta: :/ Trunks: Dad, don’t go with him Vegeta: DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO! *goes out of spite*
Vegeta gets to the planet, gets his ear talked off by Paragus, sees Paragus’ whole army, doesn’t react to anything, but takes one look at the big buff shirtless dude covered in jewelry and decides “I want to be alone with that guy for a while” (Trunks: “DAD NO” Vegeta: “DON’T KINKSHAME ME”)
Son “cat trying to convince you it didn’t just eat five minutes ago” Goku
“Golly, who could the Legendary Super Saiyan be?” *shows a whole flashback of Broly being the Legendary Super Saiyan and names the movie “Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan”*
Still gets me that the fan-favorite His Power Is Maximum villain’s weakness is that he flips out at the sight of the guy who cried in the crib next to him when they were babies
I’d still fight Master Roshi if I could risk getting within ten feet of him but thanks man for deflating the tension every time it gets serious here. And more importantly, giving my boy Oolong an actual reason to be here (designated driver). Which kinky freak on staff came up with that sequence of the two of them in bed together though?? XD
Realizing I haven’t seen the old DBZ movies since before my dad got his giant TV, and watching this thing in HD on a huge screen with surround sound blasting the doofy 2000s grunge rock songs shoehorned into the soundtrack just feels so wrong X’D
With Paragus’ whole thing being about trapping Vegeta on this planet so a comet can smush him, how much funnier would it have been if Goku had just shown up and immediately IT’d everyone back to Earth
This version of Broly is SO annoying, OMFG. Hulked-out glowing guy cackling about how he was gonna kill a child, “What do you expect from a true freak?! Wahaha~” Like 100% one of those guys who saw The Dark Knight and went “the Joker’s so dark and edgy, I wanna be just like him” Shut up already
Actually Broly’s fixation on hurting Gohan to upset Goku plus the Trunks-Vegeta dynamic could’ve made for an interesting subplot about father-son relationships, but nope I guess. Gohan and Trunks aren’t even in the reboot movie where they really dig into Paragus’ abuse of Broly (just a brief scene of Goten and Trunks calling Bulma for two seconds to tell her plot stuff)
Piccolo dragging Vegeta to the battle by his hair
I also actually love sad scared Vegeta because it makes him so much more interesting. Goku’s an excitable child whose relationship with martial arts is basically like a good work ethic, so he hears about someone stronger than him and gets all excited cus he wants to test his strength by fighting them. Vegeta’s an arrogant jerk generally used to getting his own way, so he hears about someone stronger than him and his first instinct is to go “pff, no way,” then when it’s clear the person IS much stronger he just shuts down. Probably a remnant of being terrorized and probably physically beaten by Frieza or his minions as a kid, cus you KNOW he wasn’t gonna just start taking orders from some guy who isn’t even his king dad
The classic DBZ squeaky foot noise when Broly walks...bless
“I’m the prince of all Saiyans, even you, Broly” “Then please try your best to make me kneel before you” Get a ROOM
“Did he really think I would die just because this planet is about to explode?”
*gives you my power, but in a tsundere way*
I’d been wanting to watch the first bunch of movies for a while since they use clips from em in the Ocean dub opening, but wound up with the 2nd movie set cus I found a good deal and the Broly reboot made me curious to revisit the original…now I’m torn between going on to Return Of Cooler & Super Android 13 my dumb funny beloveds, or going back to the 1st movie set and working my way up to truly Earn them XD

Dragon Ball Legend Part 19
Frieza's Terrifying Transformation,
Frieza smirked as he began to build more energy. Then everyone saw Frieza body stretch, growing a little taller. Then Frieza's armor began to crack, and it shot out everywhere almost hitting everyone. Dende yelped as a sharp piece landed near him. Vegeta gritted his teeth as he wiped off the blood from the scratch on his cheek. "Is that all? You grew two inches and got rid of your armor. You call that a transformation?"
"Oh Vegeta, it pains me to see you behaving this way. What a waste. I have favored you so much. Why couldn't you just have continued to obey me?" Frieza asked.
"Obey? I only pretended to obey you, idiot! I've been waiting patiently for any chances I get to destroy you once and for all!" Vegeta shouted at him.
"Yes. You're just like your father. A good king. You probably don't even remember him very well, do you Vegeta?" Frieza smirked.
"What are you saying?!" Vegeta demanded. Frieza chuckled.
"You remember? You were there safely tucked away on my ship while your father was making his ill-fated plans. He planned a rebellion to get you back but failed. So I killed him, along with everyone on the planet. I really wanted you to enjoy the fireworks, Vegeta. They were to die for." Frieza laughed. Vegeta snorted.
"How absurd. You were afraid of the Saiyans so you destroyed their entire race along with the whole planet and yet you left the strongest one alive. You fool! This is one mistake that you're going to pay dearly for!" Frieza twitched angrily and glared back at Vegeta.
"Why you insolent tree monkey! I've had enough of this! You're the one who's going to pay! Talk! All you are is a bunch of talk. Allow me to show you something that not even your father hasn't seen in his lifetime!" He shouted, furiously.
"What?!" Vegeta exclaimed, shocked. Then Frieza yelled as he started to build up his energy again!
"I don't believe it. Absolute madness!" Vegeta stammered.
"It was nice knowing you Krillin and Ocarin." Gohan replied.
"So long Gohan." Krillin said.
"We are not going to die here. We can't!" Ocarin shouted as she looked at Frieza gritting her teeth. How can he have so much power!? This guy is a freak! Frieza began to grow even more taller, his body getting more bulkier and his horns even longer. As he finished, Frieza looked back at everyone else. No one moved a muscle as they stared back at him at his unsettling appearance.
"Well, this is it. I hope you're not disappointed." Frieza smirked. "My, my, what's the matter with you little insects? You seemed frightened. Vegeta, your speechless." Then Frieza's tail shot out from the ground, hiding underneath it. Necke quickly moved and It was heading directly towards Dende!
"Dende, watch out!" Ocarin cried out. Dende screamed barely managing to dodge Frieza's tail in time and it crashed into the cliff's behind everyone. Frieza pulled his tail back to him.
"It retracts!" Krillin exclaimed shocked. Ocarin glared, angrily at Frieza. Her body and hair began to flicker turning blue and white before returning back to normal.
"You bastard!" She shouted. Frieza stared at her silently in shock for a moment before he smirked.
"Oh, now this is surprising. You want to go first?" He taunted at Ocarin. Ocarin growled at him but didn't move from her spot. Frieza turned to Vegeta. "By the way, Vegeta, didn't I forget to mention that while I'm in this form, my fighting power is at least over a million?" Everyone's eyes widen in shock.
"What?! No way!" Vegeta sputtered.
"O-One million?!" Gohan stammered nervously.
"Allow me to demonstrate." Frieza began to gather more energy and the wind began to pick up, spinning wildly. Before anyone could react, Frieza created a whirlwind blowing everyone off their feet. Everyone was scattered and separated from each other as they were violent tossed into the air. The wind tore the plateau apart, completely demolishing it. Ocarin saw Necke close to her struggling to fly and she quickly grabbed him. Soon, the attack stopped. Ocarin looked down at Necke in her arms.
"Are you okay?" She asked. Necke nodded.
"Yes. I'm fine." He replied. Ocarin smiled then started to look around, trying to find Krillin, Gohan and Dende or Vegeta, even though she didn't like him very much. But they needed all the help they could get at the moment.
"Krillin! Ocarin! Where are you?!" She heard Gohan cry out and saw him a few feet in the air further away from her.
"Over here, Gohan!" Ocarin called out to him. Gohan smiled before he spotted Krillin with Dende and Vegeta floating next to them. Krillin had a scratch on his head.
"Are you okay!?" Gohan asked, worried. Krillin smiled.
"I'm fine. Just a scratch. No problem." He assured Gohan and Ocarin.
"What's with the long faces?" Everyone quickly looked down at Frieza, seeing him standing on last remains of the island. He smirked maliciously looking at each one of them. "Cheer up! It's a beautiful day to die! Don't you agree, Vegeta? Now all we have to do is decide which one of you gets to die first." Ocarin, Krillin, Gohan and Vegeta braced themselves, getting ready for whatever Frieza had planned. Dende and Necke cried out as they hid their face, scared to look at Frieza.
Before anyone could react, Frieza quickly darted a fast speed heading towards his target.
"Ocarin!" Gohan screamed out to her in alarm.
Damn it! Ocarin quickly closed her eyes as Frieza darted straight towards her. She gripped Necke tightly in her arms and just before Frieza was an inch closer, Ocarin quickly vanished within thin air, along with Necke. Frieza's eyes widen in shock as he stopped dead in his tracks.
"What?!"
Ocarin appeared behind him a few distance away, teleporting next to Gohan. He let out a startled yell when she suddenly appeared beside him. Ocarin panted as she tried to catch her breath, slowly regaining back her energy, to keep herself stable in midair.
"Ocarin?" Necke asked, worried.
"I'm fine." She assured Necke. Then her eyes widened when she saw Frieza make his move again.
"KRILLIN! MOVE!" She screamed out to him. At the last second, Krillin quickly tossed Dende away from him and Frieza collided into the Z fighter, impaling Krillin on his horn. Ocarin and Gohan and Dende and Necke gasped in horror.
"Krillin, no!" Gohan cried out.

Submit as many dads as you want, but only submit each dad once per person!
Please provide a link to an image of each dad you submit, especially if you're in a smaller fandom! (Unless your dad is a disembodied voice or otherwise can't be perceived visually, in which case just lmk instead of linking and I'll work something out!)
We'll be going until we reach 64 dads, but if there's enough extra dads, I might be convinced to do a B-side bracket with the dads who don't make the cut.
I may add a dad or two of my own to the lineup, depending on how many submissions I get, but we'll see how that goes.

I present to you: My take on the Future Gohan Survives AU
Somehow, Gohan survived in his final stand against the androids. Whether if it's by the will of Kami, or pure concentrated luck, he lived. He's beaten, broken, when Trunks found him he thought that he was dead and in his grief he finally went Super Saiyan. Of course, when he took a minute to really try and feel his Ki, he discovered that Gohan was very much alive, but, he was in a coma.
After Trunks tries to take down the androids and obviously fails. But, once Trunks finally recovers and Bulma completes the time machine, Trunks is finally ready to go back in time, in fact, he's *in* the time machine when Bulma gets the alert.
Gohan's awake
Trunks and Bulma run over to the recovery branch as fast as they can. Gohan is up and worried. He's terrified. After the two of them try and calm Gohan, Trunks and Bulma give him the biggest hug. Gohan takes a good look at Trunks
Gohan, tearing up: "You've... gotten so big!"
After everyone has their tearful reunion, Bulma fills Gohan in on the plans.
Bulma: "...and now we're about to send Trunks to the future to give your father the cure to his heart virus"
Gohan: "and you think that's going to work?
Trunks: "hopefully"
Gohan: "Okay, I'll go, are we still going to when my father got back from the Yardrats to fight Frieza?"
Bulma: "Ummm Trunks is going. Not you. You literally just got up, you shouldn't be moving around like this"
Gohan: "Do you honestly think Trunks should be going over there to beat Frieza? He could barely match me in my base form. I need to give him a lot more training before he can match Frieza."
Trunks: "But, Mr. Gohan, I'm stronger now. I can even go Super Saiyan!"
Gohan takes a pause. Trunks can already go Super Saiyan? He didn't notice at first but Trunks' ki definitely feels like Vegeta's after he learned how to go Super Saiyan. It's not an unreasonable conclusion that Trunks figured out how to go Super Saiyan by himself. Then, Gohan felt queasy. He realized...
Trunks probably went Super Saiyan when he died
Gohan was horrified. He was pissed. Once again, because of the Androids, somebody he loves has had to suffer. He was angry at himself for even training Trunks. He was no better than his father. He hated himself for allowing the past to repeat itself. He thought he was better than this. He wanted to be better than all of this. He's no better than his father, forcing him to train under who knows who and then leaving because he thought it would be a good idea. He was a failure. No time to think about all of this. Trunks has become his own man because of Gohan's failure and that's just how the cookie crumbled. He'd better see if Trunks is capable of taking on Frieza at his current level.
Trunks: "Mr. Gohan, are you okay?"
Gohan: "Go outside. I'm sparring you"
Bulma, trying to hold Gohan back: "Dammit, Gohan, you just recovered. You can't go out fighting"
Gohan, looking at Bulma with a look of determination: "Bulma, I almost died. I'm stronger than ever due to the Zenkai Boost. Hell, I could probably even beat the androids at this rate. Now put your hand the hell off of my shoulder."
Bulma takes her hand off of Gohan's shoulder. She's scared. She's remembering how Goku was when King Piccolo killed Krillin. She knows that Gohan is just scared and overreacting. She doesn't blame him for that. She completely gets it. She remembered almost going in guns blazing full kamikaze when her baby boy came back beaten and broken because of those damned androids. But she realizes that she's probably going to have to be the one to teach Gohan how to deal with these feelings. The only problem is will Gohan accept it? She figures probably. But she's going to be subtle just in case
Trunks was afraid, too. He'd never seen his master be that angry. Was Gohan going to be this bitter forever?
Bulma, sounding concerned after Trunks has left the room: Gohan, I get that you're angry you weren't there. But, it's not your fault. Don't blame yourself. You're beginning to look like Go-"
Gohan, turning on Super Saiyan out of rage: "Don't you dare finish that name."
Bulma: "..."
Gohan turning his Super Saiyan back off: "You're right, Bulma. I know you are. But I failed your son, I failed you. Just let me be bitter for a little bit. When those androids are dead. I'll try my best to mellow out."
Gohan lets out an exhausted smile. Yet, it still has the same warmth as his father's
"Don't worry! Everything's going to get better."

DBZ: Return of the Saiyans (fanfic) | Chapter 24: Joining Warfare
The war on planet Vegeta has begun. The saiyan arms and the Frieza/Cooler force fight on the ground. Blasts of energy are flying everywhere. The rest of Bardock's team fight on the ground where the Ginyu Force and the Cooler squad fight them. Soldiers fall many after the other. Bardock uses all his power to try to break through Frieza's ship. Nappa, Raditz, Zarbon and Dodoria fight on the ground where the battle of the other soldiers are taking place. King Vegeta wakes up in the hospital bed as he hears the sounds of warfare outside in the distance.
*A saiyan nurse walks in to bring the king breakfast. He smiles at the nurse*
Nurse: Good morning, your highness. Here is your breakfast for today.
King: Thank you, nurse. *takes the plate with a fork and a knife and eats*
*The nurse opens the blinds of the window to let sunlight in. She recognizes the ship in the far distance instantly. Smoke is billowing from the outside of the hull*
Nurse: What is Lord Frieza doing here? Did he say he was visiting?
King: Miss… there appears to be a war transpiring before us. Frieza does not visit often. But when he does, it is not pleasant…
Nurse: I assume this is about your assassination attempt, your highness?
King: That's part of it, yes. But the bigger picture is that Lord Frieza tried to end our race in the blink of an eye. *Drinks his coffee* He is very afraid that the saiyans are getting way too powerful. Now tell me. If you were the empress of a galaxy and you were afraid that the saiyans were getting to strong and dangerous, would they even pose a threat to you?
Nurse: Not at all, your highness. I would only form an alliance with that race to benefit their society and keep strengthening them to make them thrive.
King: That is what a normal ruler would do. But Frieza is anything but normal. I had my suspicions from the day he became the new ruler of this side of the galaxy. He is nothing like his father, whom I knew very well. His name was King Cold. Unlike the namesake, he was honorable, noble, always kept his word, had every admirable trait in the book. But most of all… he was a good friend. He passed away many years ago from an illness when Frieza was only a child. His teenage brother Cooler at the time was sent off to rule the opposite part of the galaxy. This is why Frieza became the madman he is today. If King Cold were here to see all of this chaos… he would be very disappointed in both of his sons…
Nurse: I didn't know any of this, your highness. I hope you recover soon so that way you can join the prince in battle.
King: *Opens his eyes wide as he finishes his coffee* What did you say?
Nurse: Prince Vegeta is fighting Frieza at this very moment. I overheard him talking about wanting to start this war to get rid of Frieza once and for all. I guess it's happening now from the looks of it.
King: Has my son lost his mind?? I heard him talking about wanting to kill Frieza but I didn't know he wanted to do it himself!! I'm going over there to stop this madness! I don't care how damaged I am! He is NOT stronger than Frieza!
Nurse: He even told you that he was going to do it, your highness. I was there a few days ago when he said it! I feel like you should have at least a little bit of faith in your own son right?
King: This cannot be happening today…
*King Vegeta struggles to get out of his bed. He clutches his abdomen as he still feels a great amount of pain. The nurse tried to stop him but pushes her out of the way*
Nurse: Are you sure you’re feeling better, your highness? This war is going to be very detrimental to your health and well-being!
King: I will make sure my son doesn’t get into any more trouble then he already is. If he dies at the hands of Frieza, then it’s my fault. There will be no one left. Eventually I will pass on and then there will be no one to rule the planet. That is something I cannot bear to witness. My grandfather started this kingdom of valiant warriors. If it ends with me and my son both dying, the planet and the saiyans would be in great ruin… I must go. To save the saiyan race, and the royal bloodline.
Nurse: If you insist, your highness…
*The king walks out of the hospital room and into the main lobby where everyone watches him limp. They offer him help but he is not having any of it. He walks out into the sun, the clear vision of war in the distance. He thinks about his reign and about how it could all be over soon. He thinks about his son, Vegeta IV, who is fighting a tyrant who has been secretly plotting the destruction of the planet since the initial alliance. His face is determined as he flies towards the battlegrounds*
King: This is all going to end today. I will see the end of Frieza, Cooler and their men if it's the last thing I do…

DBZ, rewritten
while i was brainstorming about my own main au, "From Eden", i was also thinking about a rewritten version of db, another AU i'd like to write someday but for now i just summarized it. you can read it under the divisor!
premise: there aren't ocs or too many headcanons of mine, just some ideas i thought they would've been cool to see instead of the plot we have now. i removed some things but i also inserted some new things i thought they would've been interesting. i didn't add moro or granola's sagas for some reasons i'll explain better later. hope you like it!
Until Frieza Saga, DB-DBZ stays as it is. But, from Chapter 330 of the manga things start changing. Mecha Frieza doesn’t exist, Future Trunks only comes (with a mask on his face) to warn Goku about the heart virus, then goes back to the future.
Although the warning, Goku carelessly dies anyway. Piccolo still trains Gohan and lives with him, the Ox King and ChiChi, who’s pregnant. After the Androids defeat, Piccolo trains Gohan at the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, making him transform into Super Saiyan for the first time. Thus, as in canon, Gohan transforms into Super Saiyan 2 and defeats Cell.
For the 25th World Tournament (and so Majin Buu saga) Goku comes back to Earth for 24 hours and meets Goten for the first time. Goku tries to fight against Majin Buu, but he doesn’t stand a chance against him and is defeated. Goku and Piccolo train Goten and Trunks to make them fuse into Gotenks who, with Vegito’s help, tries to defeat Super Buu, but they get absorbed in the process. All of this happens while Gohan is trained by Shin and Old Kai, who awakens his potential and thus gains a part of Godly Ki. Shin and Kibito use their Potara earring to fuse into Kibitoshin, and helps Gohan to defeat Kid Buu. All the lives get resurrected, Gohan chooses to train with Shin on the Sacred World of Kai, becoming a Supreme Kai apprentice next to Kibito. Yet, still lives on Earth and marries Videl.
At Age 778, Bulma organizes her birthday party. At the same time, Beerus wakes up after his 39 years of slumber to look for the Super Saiyan God. After knowing there is a Saiyan with a glimpse of Godly Ki, he travels to the Sacred World of Kai, looking for Gohan. He isn’t there, so Kibitoshin tells him he shouldn’t disturb his apprentice while he’s on Earth—but Beerus goes there anyway. Vegeta tries to stop him, but he, along with Android 18, Piccolo and Gotenks, is defeated. Beerus only wants to fight Gohan, thus he chooses to try to fight him only with his Unlocked Potential. At a certain point of their fight, Gohan is able to transform into Super Saiyan God, leaving Kibitoshin speechless. After their fight ends in a tie, the birthday party continues and Gohan acknowledges he will be a father.
For formal reasons, Kibitoshin decides to unfuse and Shin continues to work as Supreme Kai, still having Gohan as his student. Since ChiChi has a lot of potential because of her demon origins, Shin chooses to train her, as well as Whis decides to help Gohan with his training too. During Gohan’s training, Vados and Champa pay Beerus a visit. Vados finds out Universe 6’s Earthlings are extinct, thus Champa wants Universe 7’s Earth for himself. They decide to do a Tournament between Universe 6 and Universe 7, where Gohan meets Hit and Cabba for the first time. Gohan doesn’t need to transform into Super Saiyan God, until he fights against Hit and reaches Super Saiyan Blue, leaving Beerus and Shin surprised. Universe 7 wins and, like in canon, Beerus wishes for Universe 6’s Earthlings to be alive. In the same period, Gohan knows Zen’Oh due to one of the gods’ reunions.
At Age 780, Gohan realizes his daughter is starting to mysteriously develop some Ki alone and when he asks Shin to check her, he says she has definitely taken it from him. Gowasu and Zamasu pay Shin a visit and Gohan sees Kibito training with Zamasu for the first time. Zamasu, though, notices Gohan and thinks he’s even more powerful than Kibito--when he sees ChiChi being trained by Shin as well, he starts despising mortals even more and tries to attack ChiChi in front of Gowasu. When Gohan surprisingly blocks him, they start a battle that ends in a tie because both Gowasu and Shin forcibly stop them. When they return to Universe 10, like in canon, Gowasu makes Zamasu see the Babarian population from afar, but Zamasu kills one of them and his master tells him not to do it anymore as they return back home. A new Time Ring is created and when Shin notices it, Gohan starts wondering if it’s because of Zamasu like he previously thought when ChiChi was attacked. Gowasu returns to Universe 7, telling Shin that Zamasu disappeared. In fact, Whis finds out Zamasu has collected all the Super Dragon Balls to wish his body to be immortal. Piccolo and Dende confirm Zamasu is coming back and plans to destroy all humans. Gohan prepares for the fight, as well as Gotenks, while Bulma, Whis and Beerus watch them. During the fight, Gotenks is seriously wounded and Gohan’s Super Saiyan God transformation fades, while Zamasu’s body starts corrupting due to an overcharge of energy. Shin teleports both Gowasu and ChiChi with him, she surprisingly attacks him with the Z-Sword--that only Gohan was able to wield. Zamasu is finally wounded, but with Bulma’s plan, Beerus is able to kill him with his Hakai.
In the meantime, Dende tells Goku about Uub. So Goku teleports to the Sacred World of Kai to tell Shin about him. When Shin acknowledges Uub is actually Kid Buu’s reincarnation, he first thinks he could be a menace--but probably isn’t since he’s good. Gohan brings him to Mr. Satan’s house and meets Majin Buu, who apparently can take the form of the Grand Supreme Kai. Both Shin and the Grand Supreme Kai travel to find Uub, who’s currently training with King Chappa. Shin offers to fight Uub, and surprisingly finds out the child has a great potential. The Grand Supreme Kai is aware of the fact Uub is holding part of his power and suggests him to train with the two deities.
Twelve years later, Pan is thirteen years old and follows the same training as Gohan, who’s now the new Supreme (Demi)Kai. Shin, having now the rank of Grand Supreme Kai, is watching them through the training and Beerus wonders if Pan will ever be as strong as her father, Shin thinks the same about Bra, since she’s trained by Beerus and Whis. Bulma kept the Dragon Balls for another birthday party, but when she and the rest of the group summon Shenlong, a black dragon appears to explain the Dragon Balls have been overused, so they now have a negative energy within them. The Dragon Balls separate into several deities, thus Beerus suggests to send Pan, Bra and Uub to defeat the Shadow Dragons and recover the Dragon Balls in their normal state. Bra is the one who drives the ship, so she decides where to go first. The dragons are all pretty much the same as in canon, but the trio will fight against the last three evil dragons, Uub fights against San Shenlong, Bra against Shu Shenlong, while Pan fights against Omega Shenlong, unlocking her potential as her father did. Once they defeat the dragons, the Dragon Balls return back to normal. Shenlong asks Pan if she wants to train with him, but she refuses and says she soon wants to become Supreme Kai as Gohan did.

I was reading your unpopular opinions post and saw your buccellati is an incompetent capo without integrity point which is an interesting take! Would you mind explaining your thoughts to me?
I have hinted this in previous posts but time to compile them in a long one. However, do keep in mind integrity as a capo is different from that as a person. Sometimes they overlap: Polpo was corrupted as a person (a personification of greed) and that greed leaked into his integrity as a capo. As we see his own zone is in shambles during the opening of VA and probably what inspired Giorno to decide Passione needs a better leader. For Bruno, he is actually a kind person, but he doesn’t make the best leader.
So by *integrity* I will use the meaning of “being whole and undivided”, or said in a better way “how much do your decisions or ideals conflict?” So a person would have low integrity if his decisions really go in conflict with his stated ideals. Integrity is befuddled with morality plenty of times, but I want to make the case that it is separate: integrity only measures how much the actions of a system conflict with its core values. Morality comes into play when these conflicts have real consequences on people’s lives.
I’ll also compare Bruno with Risotto, because I see Risotto as a better leader and I want to illustrate by contrast. LONG POST AHEAD
So to start, why is Bruno inefficient? I think his inefficiency as a capo comes from his inherent kindness. It’s a bit like that part in Black panther, where the now dead king says: You are a good man, and it’s hard for a good man to be king. As a capo you have to prioritize your own team; because that’s why they are willing to sacrifice for you in the first place. So sometimes to be efficient you have to take decisions that to you as a *person* may be morally appalling but they’re needed for the greater good of the team. If you think about it murder doesn’t sound okay... but you can justify why Bucci Gang had to commit plenty of murders with regards to their team goal of getting up in the ranks. Or that it is just work assigned by the boss, and so on.
When it comes to Bruno we see him unwilling to harm citizens. Yeah I know he used this guy’s body in his fight with Giorno, but could be the Vegeta effect: at first the author makes us see this guy as bad bc he’s a villain and his personality suddenly changes a lot after he’s baptized as a good guy. I feel mangakas do change small details about characters as time goes on; overall their personality is constant but there are slip ups. Also Bruno may consider those that take drugs to not be worthy citizens... But overall Bruno is okay with torturing a 15 year old boy bc this boy is linked to the mafia by killing Luca, but he’s not okay with sacrificing a 15 year old girl bc she didn’t choose to be thrown into the mess the boss made. That’s a kind decision, and Bruno really acted like a father to Trish; but that’s a dumb and inefficient decision with regards to his team. As Fugo said, they had done plenty of vile things before, so what’s special about abandoning another girl? You can’t endanger the whole team that has served you and put their life on the line, and then just quit and tell them go do whatever, follow me or not, I don’t care.
In my opinion, one thing people don’t talk about leadership, is that when shit hits the fan the leader is someone that is willing to shoulder the responsibility. A team-member can be relieved from the stress of making a hard decision if they say: my capo made me do it. You can’t be blamed if you are a mindless machine that follows orders. And that’s what keeps you sane in morally grey situations where the answer is not obvious. The leader on the other hand, in return for all the power and the willingness of each team member to be his pawn, has to shoulder the burden of the hard decision as well as its moral blame. He has to live with the fact of being the hand that pulled the trigger, and be the ONE to take the decision that no one else wants to take (bc it’s a mentally taxing thing to do).
So you can’t have a capo like Bruno who cannot take hard decisions, but instead unloads that burden on their team: think for yourselves. Definitely makes sense for the team to be self-sufficient on their own, but the capo sets the team goals, so if you area capo, in a hierarchy, you can’t have every member doing their own thing bc it will lead to chaos. You can’t unburden the decision of “following the capo or not” onto Narancia, bc he didn’t sign up for it. He signed up to be a follower and Bruno just changed the terms and conditions (more on this in a moment). Deciding to betray the boss was a capo-level decision, getting on that boat was a capo-level decision, and Bruno the capo just throws that decision burden away and onto his teammates; you pilot your own plane now I don’t care I never trained you and it was out of the blue. (Don’t come with the argument of maybe they all wanted to be capos one day. Sure, but you don’t train fledgling capos on a life and death situation of betraying the boss! It should be a gradual process, not throwing in the towel so your members have to pick up your slack. Bruno highhandedly dissolved the Bucci Gang as a team with no warning and on the worst situation possible for all his members-- when shit hit the fan his answer was to prioritize this stranger girl instead of his own team.)
Inefficiency is linked with lack of integrity bc if your actions conflict with your core values you won’t get much done. A good capo (different from a good person) would have set some capo core values, as well as core goals for his team, and would disclose those to his team members. There’s a contract between the capo and the team member, with terms and conditions; the member follows and sacrifices for capo’s vision because of tangible benefits that come from rising up the ladder. Sure, in many cases people follow for reasons that are not in the “contract”: we have Narancia following bc he respected Bruno, Abbacchio has a one-sided crush, etc. But the reason they were all elated when Bruno became capo is that all members knew they would have power and other benefits coming from them raising in the ranks of Passione. They trust the capo to stay true to the disclosed values and goals, because TRUST is of the essence.
Now what does Bruno do? He has a different contract with the newcomer Giorno, which he doesn’t disclose to the other team members. It’s not smart to play favorites, especially if you have nothing to justify this preference with regards to what the other team members know. We slowly see signs of distrusts or at the very least anxiety appearing in Bucci Gang; Abbacchio and Fugo question why Bruno trusts Giorno so much. It eventually culminates with Fugo breaking away, because Bruno has no integrity as a capo.
In the boat scene, Bruno prioritized his personal trauma and feelings: Trish reminds him of himself and his complicated relationship with his father. But your personal feelings should not come above your capo core values. (There are core personal values and core capo values, and you cannot mix them up as you please). Other members also have had shitty lives and personal feelings, but they don’t deviate from the team values bc they trust their capo won’t either. Why should Bruno’s feelings be special? Fugo rightfully asks why Bruno suddenly changed their contract, for a girl they don’t even know. And Fugo is right; Bruno betrayed his trust, along with the team’s trust: he didn’t uphold the contract and didn’t disclose his real intentions and core values to them. Not only that, but Fugo is made out to be a coward for not getting into that boat, but how could he follow a capo that no longer has integrity? Fugo did the logical thing: his capo who he trusted broke his trust for a stranger, changed the contract, and no one even knows what the new contract is. What are the new core values for the team? What are the new goals? Bruno can’t even lead well anymore, and slowly everyone starts seeing Giorno as more of a leader (Narancia in the fight with Squalo and Tiziano). Because Giorno’s core values and actions align: he has integrity. Why would someone smart like Fugo follow a now chaotic leader like Bruno, who doesn’t even care how much the team has sacrificed for them and breaks their trust as if it were the right thing to do.
Compare that to a team like La Squadra, and it’s sad we don’t see more of their interactions. But from what we see, it’s telling that no one defected, unlike in Bruno’s Gang. And I doubt it’s bc these men were more friends or buddies than Bruno’s Gang. I’m willing to bet they have their own subgroups, and some severely dislike one another. But they stick together bc Risotto’s integrity has a leader has trickled down to his own team: they trust that Risotto will make the hard decisions when the time comes. And they trust he won’t betray the trust and sacrifice they have put into this.
Unlike Bruno who has favorites, it seems Risotto treats his men equally, since he divides the pay among them. It also seems the team clearly knows their core values and goals, otherwise they wouldn’t be so secure in following their leader. You can’t just follow blindly, if the leader doesn’t prove himself that his actions do align with the values he has disclosed to you.
As an example of Risotto putting his team’s values over his own personal feelings: Sorbet and Gelato’s death. We know he’s Sicilian and stereo-typically so at times. In the backstory, the murderer of his cousin is punished by law, but Risotto still kills him... bc blood is a family issue. You have to take honor in your own hands and inflict punishment. Mafia is a bit like family too, so the boss killing two of Risotto’s men has caused harm and humiliation to the entire team. No one will persuade me that Risotto’s initial reaction wasn’t to bust down Diavolo’s door (once he found him) and make him pay for the blood he spilled from his “squadra tree”. But he kept those feelings down, he swallowed the humiliation, bc seeking personal revenge on Sorbet and Gelato would be the foolish thing to do. It’s what Risotto the man would do, but now what Risotto the capo should do. He made the decision to bear the humiliation himself, as the capo who didn’t avenge his fallen men, and it took courage to say: “forget about those two, as if they never existed”. He swallowed both his Sicilian and capo pride in that statement. And he probably stays up at night thinking on how he would want Diavolo to pay through his nose.
In fact, La Squadra didn't’ defect again until Trish appears and they have a real chance at taking down the boss. And even then, Formaggio brings up the financial benefits of being the new leaders of Passione: it’s not just about the humiliation of having Sorbet and Gelato killed, but there are clear financial benefits to them following Risotto this time, and that’s worth sacrificing for. And Risotto doesn’t just up and change his terms and conditions as he pleases, so that makes their men feel secure. You can be angry all you want at Prosciutto killing an entire train, but if you’re need a team partner, would you want Bruno who will change his mind bc one guy on the train reminds him of his dad, or Prosciutto who to protect his own team is willing to kill an entire train? I think a lot of courage in Bucci Gang comes from the inherent virtues in his team members: Narancia is loyal by nature. In La Squadra, since even someone like Melone has “team virtues” it probably comes from the way the leader inspires them all and the kind of environment he has created. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather take the team that guarantees no one will abandon my ass in a mission, bc the capo has high integrity.
On a tangential note, I do believe Bruno is kinder than Risotto; I feel Risotto is more just than he is kind. But maybe for a leader it is more important to be just then, because too much kindness will get you into contradicting the core values you set up for your team.

Arranged (Vegeta X Reader)
Chapter Nine // Planet Vegeta Meet Frieza
A/N: So, incase you haven't noticed, all these chapters were on Wattpad before here. I haven't written for this story in about a month and it's because I didn't know the direction in which to take it. I still am not sure, but here it is.
Vegeta sat in his room alone thinking of everything that had happened in the past few days. It had been 3 days since the two of you had bonded, and he was getting annoyed with you being the only thing on his mind. He was aware that the only way to keep you out of his thoughts was to see you and speak to you.
Training had been rough too. He had been so off and the fact that you were avoiding him by training in a different room was really starting to agitate the Prince. He hated that you were trying to distance yourself.
You were just trying to give him space. You knew how he was. You didn't want to overwhelm him.
Vegeta couldn't take himself anymore. He stood up and marched to your room where he barged in without knocking.
"Woman!" He screamed. "I demand you presence immediately!"
You walked out of the bathroom to see Vegeta with his arms crossed, standing with fiery eyes. His jaw clenched.
"Yes, your majesty?" You sarcastically answered, putting your hand on your hip and raising a brow.
Vegeta ran his tongue across his teeth before speaking. "Tch. Why have you been avoiding me, woman?"
Your eyes widened as you realize you'd been caught. "I-I- uhm..." You cleared your throat before trying to speak again. "I just wanted to give you some space. Didn't want to bug you."
You shrugged your shoulders.
"You are not a nuisance to me! For heaven's sake!" Vegeta angrily said, putting his arms to his side. His face going red at his own words.
He didn't mean to admit that.
You looked down at Vegeta's clenched fists, noticing the ring you got him on his finger. You softly smiled.
You knew that by Vegeta's words, he meant he cared about you and wanted you around.
You walked up to him, wrapping your arms around him. You gave him a kiss on his cheek.
You felt heat rise to your cheeks as his arms went around you. You felt his tail intertwine with yours.
"Oh, Vegeta." You sighed softly as you fell into him even more, his grip tightening around you.
You could hear his heartbeat as he held you, the smell of him flooding your nostrils.
"You've made me all soft. I don't like it." Vegeta grumbled loudly. "But you are so addictive." He whispered in your ear, nibbling softly at the flesh.
His hand traced your hip as he gently said it. "I hate and love the way you make me feel."
Vegeta's strong arms hoisted you up so you were clinging onto him. You wrapped your legs around his torso and you felt your back slam against the wall.
You began to have flashbacks to the other day when you felt his lips slam onto yours.
You tossed kisses back and forth, Vegeta squeezing your butt tightly, making you squeak in surprise.
"Look at you." He smirked. "The strongest female warrior becoming putty in the Prince's hands." He chuckled as his mouth grazed your neck.
"Vegeta. I-I-"
His head poked up from your neck as he glanced into your eyes curiously.
As much of an ass he was, he still cared about you. He wanted to make sure you were safe and taken care of.
"What is it woman?"
You looked down.
"Vegeta, I love you."
His eyes went wide and cheeks went red. This was the first time either of you said it since...well, you know.
You kissed his nose and grabbed his face, squishing his cheeks.
You giggled softly as the Prince set you down.
"I think we should talk." You suggested and grabbed his hand. You pulled him to your bed where you sat down together.
"Vegeta I know this thing...you know the whole you and I bonding...it isn't easy for you." You started. "And no matter what decision you make, I don't want our relationship to change. You mean too much to me."
Vegeta grunted in response and pulled his hand away from yours. You fiddled with your ring in your lap as you looked up at him.
His profile was lovely. He was really so stunning and gorgeous. You could tell by the look on his face he was thinking.
Vegeta was silent. He could feel your eyes on him, but didn't give you the satisfaction of acknowledging it.
You took your tail and wrapped it around Vegeta's. You felt sparks fly through you and your heart pumped. He jumped at first, but then his body slowly fell into a calm state.
"Stupid woman."
"Stupid man."
Vegeta looked at you with a raised eyebrow and crossed arms.
"Oh. Yeah?"
"Yeah." You stuck your tongue out at him.
His eyes flickered between your eyes and your stuck out tongue before he let out a big sigh.
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do, Y/N." Your name rolled off his tongue as he covered his face with his hands.
You scooted closer to him, wrapping your arms around him. You placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
"It will be okay."
"Miss Y/N! Miss Y/N! Your presence has been requested in the throne room! Oh! And my Prince, yours too!"
You and Vegeta made panicked eye contact and rushed down the halls towards the throne room.
Once you reached your destination, you knew things weren't good by the look on the King's face.
"Prince Vegeta, Y/N...I'm afraid planet Vegeta is under attack. We need you both to get out there as soon as possible."
Vegeta clenched his fists and turned to his father. "It's Frieza. Isn't it?"
"Yes."
"That foul bastard!" He screamed, grabbing your arm and running out into the halls.
He picked you up and flew to the space pods. "I'm sending you away. You know, last time Frieza was here was a year ago. He said he would destroy the planet."
You began to fight against him. "I am not a coward! I can take care of myself, Vegeta! Come the fuck on! I'll kill Frieza myself!" You used all your strength to try and pry yourself free from him, but he had already forcefully shoved you into a pod and closed the door.
Vegeta pointed to a scouter laying next to you and then pointed up to his own.
You picked it up, tears streaming down your face.
The pod started to fly off as you heard Vegeta over your scouter. "I can't let you die. We had no time to fight over it."
"Vegeta. Why??"
You heard the sound of static come over your scouter, knowing that Vegeta's somehow had been destroyed.
You started to sob, wondering just exactly where Vegeta was sending you.
