Hmm, not behind that one either?

Cale closes the secret passage; the latest one in the long line of secret passages and compartments that he has looked for the children in. Usually, the children spent at least half the day traversing the many hidden paths of the Super Rock Villa. Today, however, he hasn’t seen fur or scale of the children averaging ten years old, though he has caught sight of a flighty Korean teenager. Now if only Choi Han hadn’t kept escaping him.

Catching sight of a dark cloak once more, he resolves to catch the man off guard. If Choi Han was acting strange, then that means he knows where the children are. Or at least, that he knows something.

After even more searching, and eventually reaching the garden, Cale decided to take a small break. Who knew running around a five story villa looking for any sign of its occupants would be so exhausting..

-Are you sure you didn’t miss anything?

It seems even the Cheapskate was tired of this never ending search.

-We’ve been with him this entire time, of course he didn’t. Uuuugghhh. We’ve been looking for hours!! Cale, let’s take a snack break and continue searching after. You haven’t eaten anything aaaalll day!

Of course the Glutton had to chime in with her two cents.

-Hey Super Rock, why did you have to make this stupid villa so ridiculously big?!

-You of all people, Thief? I thought you would appreciate all of the valuables and secret passages.

-Anyone would be frustrated if it took them over two hours to search half a villa, old man!

-Hey! I was in my forties when I died! How is that old?!

-Heh. Well I was in my twenties.

The Crazy Kid complains. Surprisingly, without any cursing. Maybe she’s trying to be considerate? That or she’s almost as tired as he is.

-I mean, you make it sound like they’re never coming back! This isn’t that stupid Wind Island test!

The Super Rock mentally sighs. For what it’s worth, she really does sound remorseful, but remorse isn’t gonna change how Cale had gone completely stiff at her comment.

They know that Wind Island was a major sore spot for him. Heck, that’s putting it lightly. That test was quite literally his worst fears come to life. It was torture just for them to watch him go through that. To not be able to do anything during the test, Super Rock almost felt like he was going to go crazy with how scared he had been. For them, his friends, who had gone through similar things; for Cale, the child who had lived that nightmare again and again and still had to experience something so horrible; it was almost worse than when he realized that everyone he cared about was gone. Super Rock never wanted to experience something like that happening to one of his people again. And Cale, Cale is most definitely one of his people.

“It’s alright. I know you didn’t mean to.”

All conversation stops as Cale mumbles under his breath. The way his voice shakes ever so slightly doesn’t escape their notice.

It’s not alright. They know that. Cale knows that. It will never be alright. Especially not for him, who doesn’t have the luxury of forgetting something so horrible.

Cale knows she didn’t mean it. Obviously she’s not heartless. None of them are. He doesn’t blame the Crazy Kid for bringing it up,(but he was trying to avoid the comparison as much as possible. Even if the situation was scarily similar.) nor does he blame the Thief for making such a test. At least, not now. She had been insane with grief and anger, unable to make rash decisions, and she had already apologized to him for the test over and over since then. It’s just…It really is a sore spot.. And it seems that no matter how long it’s been, no matter how many times he sees his family happy and whole and alive, there will always be this irrational part of him fearing that what he saw could be his reality. That maybe this is his future. Maybe what he’s living right now is his past. Maybe he’s eternally stuck in a loop where the only thing he does is gain family just to lose them again. Maybe he’s destined to be alone and surviving and empty.

Sometimes he gets stuck in the records. And sometimes they come to him out of nowhere to drag him down into an endless abyss of despair and numbness. Sometimes he wakes up at night and his eyes are locked on a scene he desperately hopes is fake.

He’s been having a lot of those nights lately, now that he thinks about it. Maybe that’s the reason this is getting to him so much.

Step step step..

A shadow is cast over where he slouches on a bench in the villa’s garden. He looks up to see a pair of black irises locked onto his own. When had Choi Han arrived here? Had he been here the whole time and Cale hadn’t noticed?

“I’m sorry.”

What? He’s sorry? For what?

-This dense-!

-Oh come on!

-Sigh…

“I’m really, really sorry, Cale-nim..”

Cale would like to know what exactly he has to apologize for. Did he break one of the windows while training? Did he go too far with a sparring match? Did he try to cook again?

He startles when he feels Choi Han’s hands grasp on to his shoulders tightly, but not enough to hurt. When he looks up(when had he looked down again?), he sees Choi Han’s eyes that hold so much guilt that Cale is momentarily stunned.

“I’m so so sorry, Cale, Rok Soo..”

Huh?

“I’m sorry I left you alone.” Choi Han grits his teeth, eyes locked onto his, as if trying to convey how sorry he is feeling with one look alone. “I should have known-should have realized-….I never wanted to make you cry.”

Wait, what..? Cry?

He brings a hand to his cheek, stunned for a different reason, as he realizes that he was indeed crying. Huh. Why? Why was he crying?

-Cale..

-Punk. You were lost in your records again.

-Hnng. He really cares about you.. Sniffle. He reminds me of my own hyungs. Hic.

-….You do realize that he’s more of an ahjussi, right?

Oh.

For a moment, Cale wasn’t Cale anymore.

For a moment, he had been Kim Rok Soo in his twenties who had just lost everything again. He had been the Kim Rok Soo that never showed any tears outwardly, but inside he felt like he’d been torn to shreds. The Kim Rok Soo that survived because he could not do anything else. Who was numb and tried in vain to push out the bad records but kept drowning in the grief anyway.

For a moment, Cale had thought that he was never Cale in the first place.

-What a scary ability….

He couldn’t forget and he couldn’t remember. He had been stuck in limbo, and Choi Han had been able to see it.

Maybe it’s because he had Choi Jung Soo’s memories. Maybe it’s because he’d been around Cale long enough to be able to read him so easily. Whatever the case, Choi Han had been able to see what Cale was going through. And Cale can’t decide whether to be relieved or angry that he’s so transparent to someone.

The Super Rock spoke gently, yet firmly, as if sensing Cale’s own emotions rather than just hearing his thought.

-Cale, he cares about you. They all do. You know they would never want to hurt you. Cale…

-All they want is for you to be happy. Choi Han, Prince Alberu, Raon, Even your old team..

-Your family just wants to see you happy and healthy. Just like you want for them.

“haha..ha ha ha..”

“U-um, Cale-nim..?” Choi Han nervously looks on as Cale lets out soft laughter, unsure of why exactly his liege is laughing like that. It doesn’t seem like an empty laugh? But it’s not a full laugh? Why exactly is Cale laughing?? Choi Han keeps his hands on Cale’s shoulders, just in case.

Eventually, the laughter subsides.

“Sigh. Choi Han.”

“Yes Cale-nim?”

“You can let go now.”

“A-ah! Yes!”

Choi Han jerks back, as if burned. He nervously stands there, avoiding eye contact.

Cale stands up slowly, stretching his legs after sitting for so long. Huh. Has it really been that long? He can’t exactly see the sky down here.

He closes his eyes and sighs before opening them. He then looks straight at the not-so-young man in front of him.

“Choi Han. Thanks.”

Choi Han raises his eyes to meet Cale’s calm gaze. There’s a not quite smile on his liege’s face.

Choi Han is relieved.

He smiles brightly; what some might even call innocent.

“You’re welcome, Cale-nim.”

Choi Han later reveals that the kids and everyone else was planning a surprise birthday party for “Cale.” Which Cale didn’t know about because he doesn’t know “Cale’s” birthday. Choi Han couldn’t keep it a secret after what happened. I don’t blame him. Deal with your trauma, Cale.

OgCale hide the fact that he's a fudanshi (Someone who love Yaoi/BL Doujinshi). Because he's scared it's going to ruin his trash reputation.

One day, Roksoo, his senior who work in a bookstore, saw him buys a BL Novel. Cale was so embarrassed about it. And threaten Roksoo not to tell anyone about it.

Cale's not that worried about it, since Roksoo is a loner in school, and it seems like he doesn't have any friends. So there's a big chance that he's not going to tell anyone about it.

Roksoo's actually the one who write the BL Novel that Cale bought. He's also Cale's favorite author. But Cale doesn't know about it.

This is the first time Roksoo saw someone he knows bought his novel. So he bluntly ask Cale his opinion about his orher works.

Cale was flustered, and confused. But answer it anyway.

Roksoo thinks that Cale's really cute. Expecially his gap moe. He ended up observing Cale for his BL materials.

And he also test some BL materials on him. Like kabedon, sharing umbrella, etc. (Kinda remind me of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun).

Cale at first was wary around him. But started to warm up to Roksoo. And they got close with each other, and ended up falling in love.

I already felt like this but reading Forest's statement just reaffirms it for me. The treatment of the Koreans on the server just feels so emblematic of the character of qstudios. They built up a crazy amount of hype regarding the addition of the Korean cc's, the teases for their inclusion was heavily tied with the hype built around the reset given the cultural references. Only for them to join a server that is going through a major internal crisis (because god forbid qstudios let's all the precious hype they built up go to waste by waiting),  a singular fluent admin whose got constantly ignored by the higher-ups and then unceremoniously fired, and poorly accommodates for their timezone in it's events- leaving them behind as soon as they became 'old news' for the next big things- it kinda reminds me of how the french are treated on there.

They care more about flare and attention over putting in the actual work to make an enjoyable experience for everyone- just rush into new thing after new thing and leave everything else behind with nothing but empty promises and a bad taste in their mouth. (it even kinda makes me think of the feds and all of their abandoned buildings lol)

I care a lot about the server, I just wish it was anyone but qstudios running it.

This is the kind of thing that could’ve been shrugged off as « oh well they underestimate how many admins speaking the language they would need, they forgot to amenage events taking the new timezone into account, mistakes happen ! » IF ONLY IT WAS THE FIRST TIME.

PT, FR, and KR speakers all had very few admins sharing their languages on the server side of things, leading to the admins having to multitask like crazy, and the updates accounts for these languages also were understaffed, leading to the communities being sometimes sidelined.

FR speakers complained a lot at the beginning that the events were happening at 2/3/4am for them only for the same thing to happen to korean speakers, finale was at 4 am ????

I understand that with the addition of people from Korea, the timezones covered a huge part of the good making hours fitting everyone difficult but then only add more people when you’re ready to accommodate them ? Not even talking about events, without more ccs from timezones close to them, Korean ccs would have had the fame fate that Spanish ccs had at the beginning of the server aka logging on when almost no one was online.

7 months since the last time they had added people and this is how the new community is welcomed ? 😭 God this pisses me off because I know a lot of korean fans were so hyper by this only to be left feeling disappointed.

Like a lot of things, Qstudios had a good idea that they thought would give them hype, and then forgot that they needed to work on making sure the idea was well executed.

Me explain this to the wall in the middle of night that the trauma that Krs! Cale had is a very complicated trauma because it is very difficult to heal (well, I know there is never really a healed trauma) but most likely ... the posibility of trauma that Krs! Cale's had to heal is even smaller.

Because the trauma he has is not just a matter of his self-esteem or him thinking that he doesn't deserve love, he doesn't deserve happiness. NO, Kim Roksoo is not like that. He knows that he deserves happiness, he knows that if he wants to save others, then he has to stay alive.

He values (kinda) his own life.

But... he also firmly believes that the people he loves or cares about will end up leave nor dead, that's why he completely closed his heart and he did that for 36 fucking years.

Even though he has gained a new family, the anxiety of losing them is even greater, it's just... because our beloved Cale is not used to venting his own emotions (besides blowing up something), he doesn't know what to do to deal with his anxiety other than killing the white star as soon as possible.

The faster the better.

The ability to record he had will also be detrimental to him in this case because his trauma cycle will also continue to go round and round. He can't be triggered by something (talking about lsh or cjs) because his record will always remind him of events that he doesn't want to remember.

It's amazing for his new family to never give up to try close to him..

About the Thames's hyperfixations:

When I made the whole... the Thames bloodline having an hyperfixation they're pretty dedicated to (i.e: for Cale, it is business/economics). Originally, the thought came from Jour's canon fixation with looks.

So that's kinda why Cale's capitalism empire was born.

Why economics/business?

Well, isn't it common for villain-coded MCs to run business? It is a troupe that I believe Cale, of all people, would fall into. I mean, he's even born in the richest family of Roan.

Another reason why is because I want him to chaebol his way through the plot.

Don't get me wrong, KRS is still very much himself too, he's the wealthy cammer we all know and love.

But Cale is way more proactive. And unlike KRS, who can't bothered with it, Cale serves the purpose of understanding both noble and business society in a deeper manner, having a lot more of connections and presence whithin it.

Like. See. KRS normally makes contact with the ppl in high positions, or that would be soon in said positions. Meanwhile, Cale is meant to be more on touch with things, not only with people in high positions (think along the lines of "I know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows the guy you're looking for")

AKA: Cale's hand reaches where KRS doesn't bother to look at bc it's troublesome.

Kinda late to the party but your posts on "toxic positivity" reminds me so much of other fandoms where the big blogs would keep insisting that it was all part of a plan and that they actually loved what was happening on screen, even when what was happening was hot garbage, only for the entire deck of cards to come crumbling down. And no, I'm not referring to snp (I never watched it) but it's not the only show that had the same issue.

I know you still believe Buddie will happen (or at least I think you do, I don't check tumblr that often sorry), but going by history I fully expect something to happen that will have a lot of the people currently saying they love everything going "mask off" and admitting they hate a lot of it.

(I do still have hope for canon!Buddie, you're right! I have no genuine guesses for when it would happen other than trying to post-into-existence something good at the end of the season. If it doesn't go that way...I won't be surprised because of how 6A played out after the dinner scene.) I think 6A is slooowly exposing some of the cracks in the fandom - we've got people admitting that, for them : the emergencies don't hit the way they used to, the pacing still needs work after two (and a half) seasons of KR as co-showrunner, and those who acted like 5A was top-tier writing either use it as "evidence" that 6A fell flat, or have people on the other side going "5A was bad compared to this, actually." Plus, some have made it obvious that they don't necessarily like certain things, but being a blog that spreads *positivity* (or stays quiet) is their preferred reaction to discussions on the dash. Honestly...these people are so caught up in their personal view of the show where it goes on for several more years and nobody will leave (the SPN effect, I guess) that they'll just keep pushing back their timetables for specific storylines until they're proven wrong. I mean, now it's totally cool (for some) if Eddie dates again in 6B because Buddie didn't develop the way they thought and s7 is not that far away...even though Eddie breaking up with Ana was supposed to lead to him accepting his feelings...🤔 I don't believe it's about Buddie as a canon relationship as much as it used to be, tbh. It's about proving that FOX didn't shut down the idea. It's about being able to separate themselves from the other fandoms that were "baited". It's about being right, no matter how much time it takes to say so.

Hii, how are ya?about the recents ask on kirishima and as a formally mha manga fan well... it makes me really sad and reflexive to think about the wasted potential and the negative way bakugo affects other characters :/ if only bakugo had actually changed and develop at least the situation would be more understable. Anyways recently re reading the manga i just wanted to say all those ask bring really good points, yet im sorry as an still kiri fan these days and feeling attachment to him i don't completly agree and have to defend him a little </3 can't really speak about other mha media but in the manga at least more clearly in the beginning kirishima wasn't in my opinion the yes man to bkg or dormant to his bad attitude, maybe these instants aren't very significant but they are still there, calling out all might to stop the exercise saying bkg is crazy and wanted to kill izuku, calling a jerk when he turn the other students agains 1-A, telling him not to be rude to shinsou, calling him an idiot for going his own way in the license exam, like idk it's frustrating because back in the day it really seem their relationship was going to be significant and develop so much more, kamino was the first significant step towards a right direction, it had an emphaisis in the story but then..well nothing happened after that, and that's were the problem starts which was really sad cause at that time their bond(never ship them) seem very sweet to me, bkg was still an horrible person and needed to do so much more to improve but in these instants it seem he still kinda had a soft spot for someone and gave a little reciprocity or a "kind" action(giving kr money), encouragement(the rappa fight flasback)at least in "his way" it was the only positive thing he had going on for me and i think so much more had to have happened after all of this, but then hori seem to forget completely about these two so we just had to assume they were friends now because we were told so thought never actually really shown except for the few(i can testify to this) interactions they have which all can paint this bad image of kr's purpose just to be bkg cheerleader and remind us that he "changed".

Excuse my english and all this blabler that became this really long ass essay but just wanted to share this with u, can't really hold some things against kr cause i still love him from a far and i'm sad that his closeness to that gary stue harmed his potential and sweet character that he still is cause he's not the only one that suffer from this bkg influence(that still doesn't make this situation better) will still read and love fix it's were they show him directly confront bakugou and take real actions that make bkg really change, take responsibilty and atone for all he's done

You bring up a very good point and it’s that Ejiro wasn’t always Katsuki’s “yes man”. Same thing with Denki. They vocalized disagreements with things Katsuki did. Sadly it’s once we hit the post-Sports Festival arc that the characters lose their sense of agency. Where they would normally voice their disagreement (even if it was brushed aside) became them supporting Katsuki every step of the way. Like I’ve said before Ejiro has some of the best writing in the series but it’s unfortunately sucked away by Katsuki the leech.

I get why they couldn't let Kanon transform, and honestly I was never a fan of the Kanon Specter suit, but it still would've been nice if they filmed a fight scene for her prior to the suit's scrapping.

Tsukuyomi was great, even if the Jacket contradicted her usual Colour scheme.

The Girls' fight scene was so cool.

The old musical cues and background music, and Cherry-ish!!

KR Aguilera restyling is still strange.

Miss Titan's backstory is almost a 'blink and you miss it' thing.

The Photoshoot scene was nice.

Honestly, other than the dialogue calling them sisters, everything here otherwise felt in character to their subtle gay relarionship in the show.

The actual photoshoot itself wasn't that in character, but that's not a simple thing to do.

Girls Remix or: Lady Riders and Companions Get More Screentime, to Everyone's Delight

I don't think Hana's feelings were just jealousy per se. I think part of her resents Sakura seemingly placing more importance on blood family as one's "actual family". With how Sakura acted over her finding a possible blood relative, it kinda looked like Sakura didn't think found family was just as important, even though that was all Hana had.

Hana could always do Restyles- her Driver's just same as Sakura's, just modified slightly to fit her aesthetic better. They were both designed by Masumi after all.

Honestly Riot in Bloom MV made me a bit uncomfy in light of some of the stuff that since came out about Yui Asakura. Apparently she's not very comfortable doing gravure-type things, and the MV comes off as very gravure-like to me. The song itself is pretty good though, and if it doesn't confirm SakuHana as canon then I don't know what does.

Ironically, Kanon Spectre was apparently scrapped and reused as parts for Aguilera. So yeah there was no way those two suits were appearing together. Hence Kanon not transforming.

My favorite bit was all the civilian fights though. Koichi Sakamoto, who directed the movie, seems to like them quite a bit. I love that they went out of their way to use the main fight themes for the ladies' respective main Riders- for example, when Akiko was slippering those mooks to submission, the BGM was Hard-boiled. (Yes, that really is the title for that specific BGM.)

I need a photobook for that photoshoot. I won't mind spending money on it because they all look so beautiful goddamnit.

yesterday i went to the gallery... Akl gallery finally went through a significant redo of the exhibitions so it was fun. I was soo sick of the masculinity spread so I was glad to see it replaced with gothic

I remember I wanted to go to the tate light exhibition (bc I did olaf eliasson for y14 arthis) last year but I never did... huh

the highlight is definitely the impressionist-modernist canon they somehow secured but personally the most enjoyable was the top floor (contemporary)... sculpture and installation>>>... The piece from Venice Vienalle was also really good even though I didn't take a photo

I always preferred chch art gallery to akl's but surprisingly I like both better than Korean Nat musem of modern/contemp arts... maybe the space always meant more to me than the contents of the gallery and the Korean one was just (understandably) super dense with both pieces of work and significance and people.

chch gallery is bigger and less of a maze and so they always utilise the space better... but I guess exhibitions like THE art history collection from yesterday can only be done in auckland (the big city)

sometimes I forget the small-town feeling that was the warp and weft of christchurch. the other day I saw a scene-emo-goth girl on the bus and felt an odd familiarity/nostalgia

then I realised it's because that's how my friends dressed in high school. It was the look of an outfit (and character) pieced together in scarcity---you make do with thrifted (actually) old people clothes and mall stuff. In auckland (at least cbd) you see more kids wearing clothes that were produced with full intention of being worn in that style. No compromises and no mutations. They can get the details and completeness you have to pay for with money from overseas (old chch money won't do).

In auckland you get the sensation you're living in real time in sync with the outside world. In christchurch everyone walks knowing that they are not included in the main timeline; it's a vivarium that'll continue forever if you let it.

Thaat was so good! I started today's liveblogging (it's the 27th) at like 11.30 or noon & now it is 14.45 or basically 3pm so that's 3 hours, I usually allot myself an hour & a half, & I already liveblog watched it a few days ago & I liveblogged the transcript twenty days ago holy crap. At least I'm off my internship now, maybe I'll have more time to liveblog & clip & finish the series & finally return them to the library w/o paying too much in late fees. & then I can finish all the fanfics I want to read & all the fics I am writing or want to write & then I'll finally put this hyperfixation to rest & be free to do normal stuff again.. Until I get a new hyperfixation.
