Rupaul Drag Race Season 9 Episode 4 Review: Good Morning Bitches

AJA: Your bitterness isn’t clashing well with your “confidence” get it together boo.. I see Valentina was her first choice in selecting teams, she knows what’s up. What was that challenge look.. that crunchy wig.. that cakey makeup..  she better forgave Valentina..

How did u feel abt Eurekas comment/joke when Valentina was talking about her disorder????

Post-S7 im very reluctant to jump on a “bully” because it’s all feelings that are being orchestrated by the editors... this might be similar to the “blame it on the edit” scapegoat, and I know that everything that was said was said, but idk. It’s very tricky (and almost unfair) to jump on a reality show contestant just because they don’t know how to be sensitive to others’ feelings, or properly resolve an issue.

When I first watched it, of course i was super over Eureka + her fucking attitude, especially since she’s had at least one strike in every episode so far... however, when i watched it the second time (when the clip of it circled tumblr last night/this morning), i noticed that the way the situation worked out was Eureka was inserting herself into the conversation to make a quick joke, expecting the whole room to cackle with her, and then Valentina would finish her story or whatever, but when she was met with awkward silence she immediately jumped on the defensive, which escalated the entire situation higher than it ever needed to be.

Also the “Why push it straight to negativity” doesn’t even make sense. LOL Even if someone wasn’t offended by the term “eating disorder,” how would someone asking if they can open up about a disorder + being laughed at ever be seen as “positivity” lol

If you look at the notes on the Tumblr post of the clip, you can definitely see that the way Tumblr people (and millennials as a whole) are reacting to this is very “by the book;” ‘the book’ being Tumblr’s viral how-to posts in being sensitive to triggers, immediately apologizing the second someone says that you hurt them, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I do agree with most of those posts, and of course I am not happy with anything Eureka did in that moment, but idk.

This fight isn’t even worth arguing about in my book, Eureka was in the wrong, the joke was in bad taste, and she clearly already has a history of being in bad taste, with picking on Jaymes in 9x01, speaking over Charlie in 9x02, Sasha + Trinity in 9x04, etc. The point I was trying to make was that people shouldn’t immediately hate a contestant based solely on something mean they said. That is looking at the show at such a basic level that you might as well be straight. Aside from personality, a RPDR contestant should be looked at for their creativity, their presentation, their talent, (charisma uniqueness nerve talent blah blah blah), and so THAT is what I’m really looking at, not a lack of experience in conflict resolution.

That being said, Eureka has been boring to me from her promo look, her entrance look and her knock-off Violet princess look, and although she did good in the cheer challenge and the news anchor challenge, there are much stronger queens on this season anyway, so tldr? i never cared for eureka + even though I gave her a chance, i’m sure many others will get much further than her, and I’m at peace with that.

Also heres some thoughts on s9 so far

first of all its shaping up to be one of my favorite seasons yet! Not so much in the Looks department because theres really only been one or two looks every other episode that i actually am SLAYED over... (shea’s all white, peppermint’s gaga at the 2016 grammys, etc)... but i think this group of competitors are the toughest yet and im genuinely, for lack of a better term, shook at the eliminations because even though jaymes was edited to be the weakest, i think he wasn’t that bad, and i truly thought kimora was going to make it around halfway... same with charlie, i thought they were gonna let her float until after the snatch game but wow guess not!

Also is it weird to anyone that the guest judges are all just a little off? for example, Naya should’ve been guest judge on the cheerleading challenge since she was made famous as a cheerleader on glee... Me*gan Tr*inor should’ve been guest judge on this week’s “Naughty Nighties” runway since she decided to show up to RuPaul’s Drag Race in her fucking onesie from the Me Too video ugh. idk just nitpicking

At the start of the season, my top 6 favs were Valentina, Nina, Peppermint, Kimora, Alexis (in no particular order). Trinity and Jaymes were my guesses for the earliest outs, and Aja was right there next to them.

But now I’m thinking it’s something more like Trinity, Shea, Valentina, Nina, with wildcards being Peppermint, Alexis, or Aja. Based on the edits alone, Trinity and Valentina are definitely poised to be top 3, and, again, based on the edit alone, if Peppermint or Sasha aren’t top 3, one of them will probably be Miss Congeniality.

I still don’t see the hype in Sasha... though hers and Shea’s news anchor part was my absolute favorite omfg LMFAO. Farrah is very pretty but tbh I thought Kimora was prettier and she got the boot VERY early-on, so I’m prepared for her to go home within the next couple of episodes (for the record, I thought Farrah should’ve been in the bottom for her princess look, but she did REALLY good on her news segment!). I was fucking TIRED of a feud storyline the second Trinity and Eureka announced that they had history, but I’m also hoping for a Trinity vs Eureka send off ngl.

God I fucking hated Aja 9x01-9x03, ask anyone LOL. After every episode, I would text my friend and give my opinion of her and say “...but I’m willing to give her a chance if she improves soon...” and then by 9x03 I was like . Enough. So I’m glad that episode really shook her up, and even though some of the drama is annoying (Eureka), I mostly like how much more drama this season has, even though they all still manage to keep it RuPaul’s Best Friends Race!

Like many others, I was over Cynthia the second she turned around in 9x02 ngl LOL I recently saw this post on the rpdr reddit, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

If I’m thinking about it REALLY hard, I would say:

9x05 (“Reality Stars: The Musical”) - There are two ways this will work: either Cynthia makes it to 9x05 and gets the boot before she can make it to Snatch Game to do her shitty Sophia Vergara “impersonation” that she did on Hey Qween, (she made it a point to say she only made it to episode 3 in season 8, so maybe they’ll allow her to go just a little further)... if not, I have a feeling since they’ve patronized her for this long, they’ll probably continue patronizing her through the rest of the season so that she’ll just skate by on safe through Snatch Game and through the acting challenges by just shouting, like she did for “I am a proud, gay, W0men!”, but will be eliminated before top 4 or 5. I can not imagine them patronizing her all the way through end... That’s just sad.

9x06 (Snatch Game) - IF Farrah can sing, she’ll either go on this challenge or the 90210 parody challenge, just based on others being quicker + funnier than her.

9x07 (90210 parody) - Unless there’s a bigger storyline that has yet to unfold, I feel like Aja may go on an acting challenge, as well, just from others (Eureka, Nina, Trinity) being funnier/louder than her.

9x08 - unless Eureka completely tanks and can’t make it past the musical episode in 9x05, I would say she would go after the Snatch Game or the 90210 parody, since I think she can act and is funny, and that might be enough to keep her afloat until another type of challenge.

9x09 - I have a feeling since they’ve patronized Cynthia this long, they’ll probably continue patronizing her through the rest of the season so she’ll make it past Snatch Game with the shitty Sophia Vergara “impersonation” she did on Hey Qween she’ll make it through the acting challenges by shouting like she did for “I am a proud, gay, W0men!”, but will be eliminated here. Sasha has also been irrelevant until they show the talking heads during the producer-lead discussions on Pulse and the AIDS epidemic. That, paired with her being the victim in the Eureka fight in this past episode while opening up about eating disorders, makes me feel like Sasha might be getting a Miss Congeniality edit, and will make it to 5th place like Katya and Dela. Peppermint could totally go either way for me because I don’t see her WINNING based on the show alone, but she’s also been getting more screentime than the majority of the remaining girls, so that’d be a very interestingly contradictory edit.,

Top 4: Trinity, Shea, Valentina, Nina

I thought Nina was the frontrunner based on 9x01, and although I LOVE everything she does, she’s been fading lately, so I’m sort of hesitant to bet on her I guess. Crazy how things work, since I though Nina was the frontrunner and Trinity was the first or second out, but it’s currently looking like Nina might go soon, and Trinity may even win the entire thing.

Drag Race Edgic- Season 9 Episode 2

Ok so this episode was a return to the normal editing format. Not much has changed for me on the front of a winner, this episode helped prove some of the picks i made last week too so that’s why there’s no changes. Here’s the summaries:

Aja- This week she got like no airtime at all which helps me to believe she’s not going far. She still has potential to be a big character but at this point i’m definitely ruling her out, she got no confessionals this episode besides during her runway.

Alexis- Is it me or does she really sound live Raven (S2)?? Besides that she had some screen time with the boot this episode but I suspect that was just to show Jaymes and why she ends up going home. Alexis was commenting on there and had a brief confessional on her being able to handle any role because she’s an actress. I still see her going deep but I don’t see the winner’s story really articulated yet so for me she’s in the maybe boat right now of potential winners.

Charlie- She got a confessional on her team thinking it was right for Jaymes and Alexis to switch roles and then got a very OTT comedic scene of her in practice which was there I assume to justify her bottom 3 placement. To me, there’s no chance she wins at this point.

Cynthia- Second favorite line came from her “Hallelujah my pussy and my cucu is burning” LOL! She got a lot of focus from being team captain, the returnee queen and from her opening up about her liver cancer. Still as OTT as always with a lot of positive tone from her cancer which was mentioned in two separate scenes at the beginning and middle of the show. This is her first episode so she has less to go off on than the others but still a strong showing. Although I think a double miss congeniality is more likely, there is a story with her and if she won I can her story being like what she has right now. I think next episode will tell if this edit was only for this episode because of her return.

Eureka- High visibility has me thinking Eureka will probably go far as well but I don’t see her winning at all. She had a lot of confessionals giving general thoughts on the challenge, the return of Cynthia etc. and those all were very MOR

Farrah- She went UTR again and so her edit kinda is giving me even more vibes of Joslyn Fox. Not much on her or her story but her relationship with Kimora was totally ignored this episode.

Kimora- Her rating was easy from her saying she doesn’t wear panties to her telling Eureka to do her work for her, she was definitely OTTN this week. Her story and character is as a beautiful person with an ugly inside. I see her going soon.

Nina- Although i’m a bit wary she was captain of the team that got the main focus and was still UTR I think this is an acceptable cool down episode for Nina especially in an episode where the focus needs to be on other people, like the first boot and the returnee queen. I think next episode will give more insight on her story and edit.

Peppermint- So Peppermint got a lot of visibility with her story of getting beaten up in high school. It was a very positive scene for her and gave us a personal look at her. I think her edit is still good right now but if she only gets personal content I would start to worry.

Sasha- She didn’t get that much airtime or complexity this week. Her edit isn’t weak however since I think this was a challenge that she didn’t have much affect on, the stories really didn’t need to involve her but even then she still got a confessional on her thoughts on Jaymes, so I think she’s in a much better position than the other UTR people like Aja or Farrah.

Shea- So Shea got an edit like Eureka did, they basically commented on the same things but I still can’t rule her edit out as she has nothing against her at this point. Really she’s only 4th in my winner picks because I need to put someone there at this point lol.

Trinity- She was involved in Cynthia’s story by talking with her during her second segment on her cancer. She even got a confessional on that iirc? Her feud with Eureka was ignored in the actual episode even though they were on the same team. 

Valentina- All her confessionals were pretty OTT and the scenes she was in were all very OTT. I think her edit is still good compared to the others at this point and there’s nothing that I can explicitly rule her out for at this point.

Jaymes- She got a lot more screen time, mostly because she went home this episode. She got a lot of negative tone during the team practices and her confessionals weren’t that complex. We were shown the reasons why she was booted and it was justified by the edit.

i was actually really pleased witht he choice of guest judge this episode, bc altho cheyenne jackson is not super relevant, hes gay, is on shows with large gay followings, and is super hot, so he himself has a lrge gay following. hennyways, im wondering if they stopped doing minichallenges this season? weve gone three episodes without one, iirc. this episode was actually super disappointing tho, and alot of the funny moments were just kimora being a fool like she straight called herself princess banana lady and talked about how stressful it was not to have a breastplate, im lit worried that this season will flop without her one liners

Aja- Dear diary, Practice was beyond stupid today. If we don’t get our shit together we won’t even stand a chance against the B-52’s! I understand Nina is a senior and gets to call the shots, but when I become captain next year… we are going to be fierce! And when Nina is gone we won’t have to see her huge ass hanging out her skirt! UGH she is almost as slutty as that Kimora girl on the bombers team… well no one can be that slutty. Actually Shea could. That bitch is pussy poppin everywhere she goes. She is as easy as minute rice. I just wish she wouldn’t get so much attention from Farrah. Nina- Dear diary, We are going to MURDER the B-52’s!! Our routine is polished and on point!! Once they see our routine their beehives are going to fall flat! I’m such a good captain, like I don’t know what these girls are going to do without me next year! Well, If Aja gets to be captain then they will probably lose every competition. ok so i have lots of things to say so im just gonna put it all in one post. its how school has been going, how my relationship w caleb is going, my rpdr pre season rankings, my thoughts on bbcan5 even though i havent watched a single episode, and my progress in botw

so first its school. so i literally failed my orgo test yesterday. i gave up on the last 2 synthesis questions bc i just didnt know what to do so thats like 30 points off right there. i most likely got this other synthesis and a mechanism question wrong so honestly i prob got like a 50. he drops the lowest test grade so i just need to step it up after this but like...rip. i studied but i got all the reactions and reagents and stuff mixed up in my head bc theres so many different things yet theyre all super similar so i just couldnt keep the information straight. so rip to my gpa this semester i guess

today sociology was cancelled so i just had psych and anatomy. i fell asleep in psych and anatomy was boring 

so today i had a date w caleb and it was v nice. BUT he asked if we could bring leeann along again!!! like wtf its been not even a week since that disaster of a date and you already want to bring her again??? like he really just does not get it smh but i said yes bc i didnt want him to think i was being difficult. luckily she was busy so she couldnt come anyways

we had lots of fun in the park! he like undid my jeans and started playing w my dick while we were sitting on some concrete block and it felt like i was in one of those porn videos that take place in the woods or something. there was like no one else there obv

he did say one thing that really got me pissed though. and i didnt think too much of it at the time like i was kinda :/ but then when i got home and thought about it some more i got a little upset about it. he called me on the phone to talk as usual and i told him about it and he felt really bad about it. he didnt think much of it in the moment but after i told him it bothered me i could tell he felt really bad and honestly? good! i hope he did feel bad about it bc he was being a dick for absolutely no reason

also i found out the stuff with alex! and like its so weird bc caleb has previous interactions with like 4/6 of the other guys ive been with. so ya apparently they both worked at mpowerment together and caleb just didnt like him lol. so today alex sent me a friend request on fb and followed me on insta bc he found both bc hes friends with/follows caleb on both things. and caleb posted a pic of me on insta w a bf goal type quote but once again it was NOT a good picture of me!!! i looked sooooooo pale bc of the lighting and my facial expression idek 

so i saw alex liked the pic and THEN tonight during our phone call caleb told me that alex messaged him on fb asking if him and i were together and caleb was like yeah and alex didnt respond so caleb asked why he was asking and alex just replied with “...” like he really is cracked! idk if hes like offended or something but like idk why he would think he has any chance with me after ive literally ignored like at least 10 total texts/messages/etc from him! like smh every time i think hes finally given up he tries to come back into my life like it was a one night thing stay away! *naomi campbell/naomi smalls voice* check your asshole before you come and talk to me

so yeah. that all w that. caleb wants to take me to the movies on saturday for our next date. but also another issue im starting to have is that caleb is starting to talk a LOT about eating my ass and fucking which is getting on my nerves bc i told him that it will be a while before we get to fucking and he keeps bringing it up its like being w freddy all over again

and now for bbcan5! the only bbcan season ive seen is 3 but i am officially team ika and gary! idk which one i like more but those are my top 2. sindy is 3rd karen is 4th and i guess cass is 5th. i didnt like her on s4 but from what ive seen this season i think i like her. idc about the rest. tbh i dont plan to watch a single episode i just want ika gary or sindy to win 

now for zelda botw. i just finished the vah medoh quest. so i have 2/4 divine beasts done and im going for the gerudo one next. im just hoping to finally find some cute armor in the gerudo town bc i am sick of only finding ugly clothes! for the map i think i just need 1 more tower to finish it. i also killed my first guardian today which was satisfying but not really bc i didnt even know what i was doing bc it all happened to fast lol. ive also been kinda reckless w my horses bc i wanna see what happens in one dies but they are resilient! my horse accidentally got hit w the blast from a bomb arrow when i was trying to hunt and it caught on fire and still survived! i dont wanna straight up kill it bc thats weird but i want one of these horses to die already! i feel like it would add some drama. so ya my main focus rn is just exploring while slowly doing the divine beast quests
