Drag Race Edgic- Season 9 Episode 12 + FINALE DISCUSSION/EXPLANATION

At this moment all I can really discuss is how Sasha won and how this changes things in Drag Race. To the best of my knowledge from here on tumblr, this is the first episode solely produced and constructed to be shown on VH1. The reunion which aired first was chronologically the second produced after the crowning. This contrasts to the whole season which was produces and constructed to be shown on Logo but instead got switched over to VH1. From what I’ve gathered though twitter, tumor etc. is that this episode’s twist was thought of by VH1. This all may seem like useless information but this is actually the key to how Sasha won with the edit she had. 

Originally the whole season was gonna be aired on Logo and presumably without VH1’s interference, this twist wouldn’t have occurred  and our crowning would have been the season 4-8 style of crowning we’ve become accustomed to. However, with VH1 changing how the finales are done AFTER the season has been edited and our final 4 is locked and solid, the room for an outcome being different from the intended one was there (especially with how this twist worked) like it was with this season.So considering all of this, this is how Sasha could win with her edit. She didn’t get a shit edit on purpose, the editors just didn’t know she was gonna win which is a HUGE reason why edgic for this season shouldn’t be taken seriously. In Survivor and every season of this show before this season, the editors knew who was going to win the season when they edited it and they thought they did as well with this season and that Shea was gonna be the winner. But with an eleventh hour twist that changed the entire story the editors worked on 12 episodes to convey, there wasn’t much they could’ve done to prevent this (aside from re-editing the season after knowing the twist VH1 had in mind.)

How is this going to change the next season and its edgic though? Well, it depends on if this twist is staying or not. If it does stay, I could see a lot more even development of our final 4 so that any of the 4 can be seen as a viable candidate to win and not to have this Sasha situation again. We might see a lot less villains in the end as well since production wouldn’t want a villain/negatively edited contestant to win the season and be called “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” However, this twist could create enough controversy where there’s an uproar over Shea’s loss and how this twist essentially negates anything that happened in the competition, theoretically giving someone with 4 bottom 2 lip syncs the win over someone who won 5 challenges. If there is a public outcry over this result, I could see VH1 reverting back to the previous crowning style and maybe just implementing twists into the actual competition so there’s no shock over the winner.

And with that I’ve spent 12 weeks just to get lolpwnt at the end! VH1 has fucked up drag edgic!

10. Ryan

Ryan could very well be at the FTC, but he is not winning. The edit is making him a punching bag and is telling us it is ok to laugh at him a little. I find Ryan's oblivious nature endearing...he is such a sincere guy but that isn't going to snag him the win. I don't think anything could make me move Ryan up from last place in the rankings.

9. Owen

Owen's uptick of content only coinciding with him being the new Jeanine is not good. He's got this battle with James coming up, and while I think he's winning that fight it doesn't put him any higher in winner contention. Owen's a sitting duck getting his quick merge arc before he's in jury.

8. Noelle

Noelle's strategic mindset is never at the forefront of the episodes and while she's as much of an underdog as Owen, she's not been given much care with her edit. It really feels like production is just milking her story for as much content as it is worth before she inevitably plays her steal a vote and is eliminated. Feels like Noelle is more of a plot device than a plot point in the season.

7. Gabler

Lots of people hopping on the Gabler train are forgetting how awful his premerge content was. Gabler's maybe the last of the easy boots to go but it really does feel like he'll be going. Nothing last episode really changed things for me, and if he is truly gonna try to suck up to the seven-person alliance I think that's really bad for him.

6. James

James has to be bumped down because last episode was a bad look. Building up a narrative that James is the kingpin of a cocky seven-person squad is awful for him. Combined with the fact things are angled to have us rooting more for Cassidy in the little Coco feud we saw and Owen getting a ton of good content...very worried about James right now.

5. Karla

We are just too far into the season for a winner to not be getting more consistent strategy confessionals. Why is Karla constantly entertaining flips and backing out? Why is she always edited as wanting to go women-strong but then never does? We get no explanations as to why Karla makes the decisions she does. We see she's a great player, but there's no care put into showing Karla's thought process to make her more complex. I just think it is too late to put in a winner storyline for her, but I hope I'm wrong!

4. Cody

This is the first serious contender I got on my list now. I'm finally coming around a little to what others are saying regarding Cody as a contender. He had a great episode despite not needing to be the focus of things. He's a big part of the power structure in the tribe too. My issue is he's still outshined by Jesse and until that changes I'll always at least rank Jesse higher.

3. Cassidy

Having Cassidy in the third slot here is admittedly wishful thinking, but she is the only woman with a shot at winning this IMO. Cassidy didn't have a great episode- she's shown to be the only one against the Jeanine vote and she votes wrong despite likely being aware of how things were going at TC. That being said, we get an explanation behind her incorrect vote that we as viewers not only understand but are expected to support. I think little things like these keep Cassidy clinging on edgically as being a contender.

2. Sami

If Sami isn't the winner then he is production's favorite. He had a great episode despite totally and completely failing to flip the vote...and not only that but backing OUT of the flip and undermining his own mission. Yet Sami gets edited as making a strategic call and not as someone who failed, or as your typical petulant teen that doesn't get taken seriously. Further, as if to prove Sami's backdown on the Ryan vote was the correct call, the edit dunks on Jeanine HARD for no reason with the rare voting confessional played in-episode. Maybe next episode we will see things take a turn and we get some pouting about the failed flip, but Sami's one to watch.

Jesse

I don't think there's much I got to say. Until Jesse's edit shows ANY sign of slowing down he's got to remain the top contender for a slew of obvious reasons.

Survivor 5 Best Changes Made Since The First Season (& The 5 Worst)

Right after the turn of the century, Mark Burnett and Jeff Probst combined to give America it's 'first' reality show contest, and it still kicks on to today. While Survivor is no longer a television juggernaut like it was, it maintains a respectable audience of devoted fans who love watching people get progressively dirtier for 39 days—both physically and strategically.

The contestant's strategies have evolved through the years and the game has attempted to stay ahead of them at every turn, resulting in several changes throughout the show's lifespan. Some of these changes were to the central contest, but others are to the television presentation, while still others were to the format and advantages in play. It still resembles the contest as it was originally presented, but there's a deep history of tweaks and twists that fans have adored and abhorred in their wake.

10 10: Worst - The Outcast Tribe

One of the problems with a show like this is that great 'characters' often get voted out early. The Outcast Tribe of Survivor: Pearl Islands was the show's first major attempt to rectify this.

Unknown to the remaining players, the ones they'd voted out continued separately and ultimately were able to vote some of their numbers back into the game. Due to the unspecified circumstances of the Outcasts conditions, the remaining players not knowing this was coming, and the added advantage of being immune for an additional Tribal Council, this was seen as massively unfair.

Opinion has softened over time, but essentially teleporting players who 'lost' into the middle of a game where constant tension has been applied to everyone else is questionable at best.

9 Best: Edge Of Extinction

Redemption Island 4.0 seems to have finally gotten the 'save cool players from elimination' twist right. Making a Survivor's final elimination a matter of willpower rather than a carnival game of chance gave this twist the spice it needed.

Eliminated survivors were marooned on an island separate from the game with little to no aid or contact. If they couldn't hack it, they literally raised the white flag/sail and were gone. Their only action available was to await chances to re-enter the game against each other. Once in the middle of the game, and once near the end. It produced both a powerhouse player and the eventual winner, lending credibility without seeming to favor them directly.

8 Worst - The Final Four Fire

Plenty of fans cried conspiracy when this alternate elimination came into play. Season 35's Ben Driebergen had gotten himself into a difficult corner. He looked destined to be voted out by the others who knew he'd win if he made it to the end. That knowledge is essentially a death sentence in Survivor and had been for dozens of seasons by that point.

Then, suddenly they couldn't vote him out when the opportunity arose. This was because he and another would be going head-to-head in a fire-making challenge instead. Whether it was brought in to keep an audience favorite from going home with a whimper or was always planned so the finale had someone who 'earned/fought' their way in, fans debate its legitimacy.

7 Best: A Million Little Idols

A way for players to save themselves from a vote, but only if they intuit the right moment to do so? Hell yeah! This is the perfect blend of strategy, gut-instinct, bluffing and boasting that makes Survivor great.

Idols have been so well received by contestants and fans that it has appeared in every season since it's inception in Guatemala. They've been hidden requiring precise steps to find like a treasure, scattered around the camp, snuck into challenges, and put everywhere the show can think of to heighten the drama. They're renowned for a good reason and won't be going anywhere.

6 Worst: Except For Those Other Idols

The idols that could be played after all votes were read were too overpowered and made a person nigh-invincible for the remainder of the game. The initial Idol worked more like you'd won an immunity challenge and kept people from voting for you at all. In both cases, it required too much coordination from the remaining players to overcome. Thus, holding onto those idols had players walking through the game threatening to play them at every turn.

This stunted the dynamic social game Survivor is meant to be. They've thankfully been rarities since the 'vote negating' Idol became the norm.

5 Best: Tribe Swap/3 Tribe Splits

In earlier seasons, it wasn't uncommon for one tribe to dominate proceedings. This lead to them heading into the merge with 'the numbers.' The show cleverly caused some wrinkles to that safe (aka boring) situation by mixing things up. Some seasons have begun with (or temporarily split tribes into) 3 groups instead of 2. This strategically allows smaller teams to band together to overthrow dominant factions.

The Tribe Swap variant is now in every season and also improves the overall game. It ensures no one can simply ride early success without the possibility of having their allies removed from them or them from their allies. Both elements also increase the likelihood of lesser contestants finding their feet in the game and their voice for the show.

4 Worst: Unbalanced Or Pointless

Survivor has been tempted at various times to experiment. Sometimes, that is in ways where the outcome proves the experiment wasn't worth it in the first place.

For instance, in Fiji, tribes were split between the 'Haves and Have-nots' where one group lived in relative luxury to the other. Surprise surprise, the tribe with the advantage dominated early.

In Nicaragua, the Medallion Of Power flumped into the game. Tribes could 'play' the medallion to gain challenge advantages. It became an almost instant afterthought and was retired relatively quickly, never to be seen again. Essentially, anything that makes one appearance and never returns in subsequent seasons falls into this category.

3 Best: High-Risk vs. High Reward Advantages

It could be argued that there are too many 'shenanigans' on Survivor. These are balanced just right to be worth it. There have been several types that work in this way. Advantages that require dropping out of an Immunity Challenge to receive. Advantages where other players will know you have it, but not know it's specific details. Clues that tell you of an Idol hidden in plain sight that you will need to be bold to go after.

These types create great tension within the show without unfairly tipping the balance. Survivor often experiments with variations on this core concept, hoping to catch players unaware without completely upending their game-knowledge.

2 Worst: Schoolyard Pick Double Elimination

Sometimes, Survivor instantly realizes when they've hatched a dud, and this was it. At the very beginning of Survivor: Palau, two contestants, one guy and one girl, were forced to pick from the currently unsorted mass of players.  From this, they'd form the two tribes, swapping genders at each pick. Ok, so far. Then, the final man and woman unpicked were unceremoniously sent home. That was it. Wanda and Johnathan were simply gone, and any investment in them was snuffed.

It was unfair, unfitting of the game, and left a bad feeling in fans and contestants alike. The only small solace to this misstep is that in future seasons when Jeff has instituted situations where some players may be left out, there is legitimate tension. Nevertheless, they've rightly never revisited this.

1 Worst/Best? (Depends On Who You Ask): 'Edgic'

'Edgic' is a term hardcore Survivor fans came up with where they get into the depths of discussing how the show and contestants are presented. Portmanteau-ing 'editing' and 'logic' together, the theory is that examination of someone's weight of television time and type can 'predict' each season's likely outcomes. Whether they're shown in favorable, foolish, or an antagonistic light, you can 'know' their destiny well in advance.

Early seasons didn't skew as far in tipping their hands. Seasons like Survivor Samoa, Cagayan, and Redemption Island had a single player dominate the game and show entirely. Latter seasons have seemingly taken this fan phenomenon into account and attempted to lessen the obviousness. This has resulted in more well-rounded contestant showings and better critical reception, more like the original layout but sharper. Either way, it's an element of meta-analysis that undermines the show for some, yet totally makes it for others.

Tribal/Idols

1. You may only change your vote once. Tribal will never be posted early, so do not feel pressured to vote early.

2. While LIVE tribals are being conducted, players are not allowed to communicate through private messages. All communication during a LIVE tribal MUST be done verbally through the platform where the tribal council is being held. If a player is discovered to have broken this rule, they will receive a punishment up to the discretion of the hosts.

3. In the event of a LIVE Tribal we will notify/coordinate with everyone a time that suits the majority of player’s schedules. If a player can not attend a live tribal council, they will be required to vote before the start time of that said tribal.

4. In the event someone gives up individual immunity, all votes will be reset and the deadline will be extended. (If this occurs at LIVE Tribal, then everyone will be given, exactly, 5 minutes to adjust their plans.)

5. Votes and idol plays must be submitted to your respective host chat. (If this occurs at LIVE Tribal, then votes can be sent live at tribal, and Idol plays can be done LIVE as well.)

6. The decision to revoke idol usage is allowed only prior to the votes being read. HOWEVER, if you do decide to use an idol even if you then choose to revoke usage, the claim of using an idol will still be announced. (You can’t just stand up, say you want to use an idol and then back out only to think that no one heard you.)

7. If you wish to give your idol away, then you must notify the hosts and write a small excerpt to the recipient on your intentions.

8. Idols can be transferred across tribes. You must notify a host via host chat of this decision, and we must receive confirmation from the recipient.

9. In the event someone quits or is med-evaced before tribal, tribal will be canceled.

10. There will not be a revote if a tie occurs. If the vote ties, the players voting at that particular tribal council will have a set amount of time to unanimously decide on one player to eliminate. If the players the vote is not tied between can not unanimously decide on one player, the players the vote is tied between will become immune, and the remaining players will draw rocks.

11. In the event of a tied vote, players will receive 24 hours for a non-live tribal council and 15 minutes for LIVE tribal councils. If a unanimous decision is reached before the deadline, the elimination will happen before the deadline.

12. In the event someone does not vote, they will receive a self-vote.

13. If someone self-votes two tribal councils in a row or four times overall in the game, they will be medically evacuated and removed from the game.

Challenges

1. All challenges must be posted before the deadline.

2. In the event you require a challenge extension, please talk to the hosts. If you have events that require an extension we are willing to change deadlines. This is HIGHLY situational and may/may not require a majority ruling. Otherwise, you will receive an exemption pending approval.

3. If one tribe has more players than another, someone sits out. In the event the tribe does not inform the hosts who they have chosen to sit out, it will be randomly selected by the hosts.

4. Someone cannot sit out two challenges in a row.

5. You may only use the link for a challenge that the hosts have provided. In the event you wish to use a different link, the hosts must approve it beforehand.

6. To submit a score, please post a screenshot of your entire screen with the date/time visible and with your name in the URL box/search bar of your browser. If scores are not posted in this format, they will not count.

7. You can only submit once.

8. Please post your score(s) to the host chat.

9. In the event a score is not posted, it will be counted as a challenge strike. Two challenge strikes in a row or four overall means the player in question is medically evacuated and removed from the game.

10. If a score is posted but not submitted correctly (ex name not in URL box, submitted to blog instead of host chat) then the score will not count but the player will not receive a strike.

11. Photoshopping is prohibited and any photoshopped scores will result in the player’s immediate removal from the game.

12. In-game glitches are acceptable but using computer programs to achieve higher scores is forbidden.

Jury

1. Those who are medically evacuated, quit, or removed will not be on the jury.

2. Jury members are forbidden to talk to those still in the game about the game. Breaking this rule will result in both players in question being removed.

3. In the event a jury member quits/is removed, it will be up to the hosts’ discretion as to how this juror is replaced.

4. When a juror is voted out, they may say their goodbyes in the tribe chat, but once they’re removed they can no longer speak with the other players.

5. IF added to tribals, jurors are NOT allowed to talk to the players. They may post reactionary emoji’s, gif’s, images, etc but talking is forbidden.

Final Tribal Council:

1. In the event friends of a finalist are caught trying to interfere with the jury, the finalist in question will be removed.

2. Jury speeches and responses must be submitted to the blog - do not post your speech or response in the tag. (If FTC is live, all of this can be done live or sent to us pre-recorded for us to show.)

3. In the event of a tie, it will be up to the hosts how to handle the situation.

Episode 10: “I Mean, Whatever, I’m Having Fun Lying” -Jack E

It’s merge! It’s jury time! Lots of fun things are happening now. For one, Lily is finally going to tribal! And she was loud and proud about that fact. 

Once again, Charlotte and LA reunited, and this time they solidified their duo-ness and solidified their alliance to be an F2 alliance. Their intent was to play different sides while secretly working together. 

Another alliance formed: an original Motomaiqi alliance, minus Billy. Jordan was kind of the head of this alliance. LA, though, wasn’t keen on staying loyal. She was playing with the two heads of the opposing alliances: Steffen and Jordan. She was doing her best to make Steffen trust her. And though she was officially aligned with Jordan, she wanted to flip on him ASAP for being a threat.

That would have to wait, because Jordan won the first individual immunity. Things didn’t look too bright, because so far the name floating around was Jack C’s, his closest ally. After talking to Lily, who suggested either Jack or Billy, Jordan pushed for the latter. Jack C was paranoid, leaked the plan to vote for Billy, and was scared of how close the vote might be (not very) and was wondering if he would need to use the idol (he didn’t).

Steffen at first had some confidence in the game. He thought he had a few people on his side: he had an alliance with Tyler and Charlotte, and he felt he could trust people such as Lily, Billy, Jack E. Things started collapsing. Lily told Jordan that Steffen had all 7 stamps by now in the Rainbow Reef, making Steffen suspicious of their relationship (Jordan also told Steffen that he only had 2 stamps, which...was true in, like, the first round of the game). And once the plan to Billy was leaked, he lost all hope. He deleted his spreadsheet for navigating the Rainbow Reef. However, he did find an idol! Perhaps there was some hope... 

Ultimately, though, Steffen decided to let Billy go and not play his idol. It appears third time was the charm, and Billy was sent home 9-1, with his 1 vote for Jack C cancelled by his idol, because it appeared to Jack C that he wouldn’t be needing his idol anytime in the near future, apparently.

Dear Bumbleshocked Diary, WELL HOLY BUTTGILLIAN, THAT WORKED. I don't know it almost felt like this thing and plan went off without a hitch, which I'm kinda obsessed with but also kinda worried about, but I'm pumped about a couple of things so I'm excited.  OKOKOK so firstable, I'm just floored I got the plan to work, like Billy had his death sentence because it felt that we couldn't get anywhere on Bouma and he was dead, BUT NOOOOOOO, apparently I got better skills than I could have ever thought and I got Charlotte and Tyler to flip on Shea, and boy, lemme tell you, that kinda makes up for how Shea treated Gage in Midway at the tribal that Gage went home in.  The ironic thing was, Gage was the last pre-juror, and guess what happened to Shea, he made f11, but no jury....BAHAHAHHAHAHAHA ok sorry that was mean.  ANYHOE, so I'm sitting here, with my 3 advantages in my pocket, no votes cast against me and guess what......WE MADE MERGE AND JURY, so now there's that little bit of breathe before things likely go to hell but still, I'm excited, my worst placement is out of the way and I can sit in f10 knowing I at least made jury.....but I want to win so everyone else can cheauxke. I am very happy that I made the merge. Both other times I played I never ended up making the merge, so this is very exciting for me. I have no idea what is going to happen tonight. Hopefully it's not me going home. I really don't know though.

Dear screwed up Diary I don't really care anymore people are pegging me as a duo with Billy, and here I thought I'd be able to hold onto an extra vote in Billy for longer but apparently thats not a good thing now people think I have a rainbow idol even though thats not the case because I tried swapping the rainbow pass for the rainbow idol but nothing, so I'm thinking Lily or Jordan has it because well Lily has all the stamps but Jordan could've gotten it too, so that's real grand. SO I deleted the spread sheet with the instructions on where the stamps were, now I personally dont care about what happens I'm going to vote out Billy because I saved his ass twice and now he's on jury, so if I survive 6 more tribals then we might be in business but that all depends on tonight. I feel like I'm being too honest with Steffen right now, but I wanna work with him and if I blindside him or lie while he knows the truth, he's not gonna trust me and I need that. Char seems to be on the bottom of the alliance she has with him so I need to be good with him and hope he doesn't flip on me. I also don't want people figuring out Char and I are working together, I want Steffen to think he's my solid person, and get rid of Jordan ASAP because he's just going to keep "winning" challenges and he's already in a position of control, sort of, but that's fine with me cause as long as he looks like controlling things he's a bigger target than me. Plus once Jordan is gone Jack might become a solid number for me, since we've been working together but he also slipped the plan so who knows, he might need to go too. We'll see how this plans out tonight, Steffen knows the plan so if he or Billy have a hidden immunity idol they can save him and I should still be good with him and I can blame Jack for him finding out so I should still be good with Jordan too. Drag Race Edgic- Season 9 Episode 8

Alexis- She was very OTTN this episode, they butchered her in the editing lol. alol @ her dragging Tamar Braxton.

Nina- Not much for her in the episode. Why couldn’t her edit stay like her episode 1 T_T

Peppermint- Her story about being in Russia gave her positive tone and helped to humanize her even more but other than that she only set up the storyline of the 2 people left who didn’t have wins (herself and Farrah) being the ones to win the challenge and get eliminated. She didn’t really expand on it other than stating she wants to win the challenge. I think she might be in the top 3 but I think she’ll definitely make it to 4, it seems like they’re setting it up with her positive edit.

Sasha- She is starting to emerge but it’s kind of like what’s happening with Peppermint too. I’m more certain she’ll be at the end (final 3) because of these last couple of episodes. We’re starting to see a developed persona/contestant emerge but it’s too late in my opinion to be who the winner is pushed to be. I think it’s like what they did last year to Naomi Smalls to make her seem like a threat to win by final 3 but it wasn’t something done throughout the season to give us a consistent well-developed story.

Shea- Yet another MOR rating lol. No way she doesn’t end up as a MOR lol. I kind of want to rewatch her content to see if I was being too strict on giving her a CP in a couple of episodes. I think in the last couple of episodes she will emerge more and give us a well-rounded character. She was established as a front-runner this episode too so that’s also something that helps her edit.

Trinity- I really like her and I think she is also being developed as a threat coming down to the wire like Shea. I think however with how her edit is going, I can easily see her getting CPNs and OTTNs at the end and I kind of see her in the 4th place spot as well.

Valentina- For her getting these episodes without a lot of content while people like Shea who aren’t as charismatic still get consistent content it’s a huge worry. I think next episode is make it or break it for her.

Farrah- Ugh i’m gonna miss her so much <3. Kimora and Farrah for All-Stars 3 <333. The M tone is something i’m debating but I think it fits since she was in that mess with Alexis about the reading challenge but we were shown her realizing she made a mistake and apologized. Her roast was really awkward though so i’m conflicted tbh.

Drag Race Edgic- Season 9 Episode 10

Sorry for being this late for this week but I still haven’t watched this week’s episode rip!! I hate being busy lol. Ok so I don’t really care to go into the edits of anyone other than my two winner picks at this point, so let’s dive in!

Shea and Trinity are the two queens I can consider at this point so let me dive into how i’m weighing one against the other at this point through editing and then i’m going to talk about each queen’s individual edgic strip and what I feel about it.

Shea has been a pick since episode 1 and she’s been the top pick since episode 6 and I’ve never considered Trinity until about Farrah’s boot. To me Trinity had a lot of storylines that didn’t get resolutions we saw from her perspective like with Eureka. Shea has had fleshed out relationships like with Sasha and Nina and up to this episode (10) she has barely gotten any negativity and none that was actually done to show Shea in a negative light. There’s just a lack of complexity in her confessionals both in development of her as a contestant and in the content of the actual confessionals.

Recently we’ve been getting a storyline of Shea and Trinity being the frontrunners in the competition which has me thinking that either Shea or Trinity will be in the top 3. In my opinion, this show does not want to have a close winner. This show doesn’t want another Raven and Tyra situation where the fans say the winner didn’t deserve the win. Even though the like to advertise their top 3s as being a close draw, through the edit it was easy to tell that Bob would win over Kim, that Bianca would win over Adore etc. Having Shea and Trinity in the finals together makes it seem like there will be another Tyra situation if Shea wins over Trinity. As of right now Trinity has more visibility and confessionals than Shea and I think most of the fanbase would rally for Trinity. I could be wrong however and the show could have Trinity win over Shea, especially if the next two episodes bury Shea in the edit. But also they could just have Shea win over Trinity for the shock factor for people not really paying attention to the story being told with each queen. I don’t have much else to say on that so let’s move onto their individual strips and I’ll try to go over the big moments each queen has had in their story.

SHEA

So Shea has had a lot of MORs and this episode is her first CP and even then I think I was kind of stretching it too. I think If I rewatch the season I can make some changes in her chart and there might be a couple of other CPs I can put in for her but really her edgic is not bad compared to others in the final 5 with her. Consistent content and screen time help her case a lot because if she wasn’t going far or even the winner the editors wouldn’t be inclined to show her every episode especially since she’s not an OTT character like Alyssa Edwards. She got a prolonged streak of positivity in the middle episodes like her talking about her battles with an ED. I think her strip is fine but there’s just some more complexity left to be desired.

TRINITY

Trinity’s strip is more varied and toned than Shea’s. Starting in episode 1 her and Eureka’s feud was given a mini Alyssa and Coco treatment that lasted through the talk show challenge. Weirdly, she was UTR after Eureka’s departure although this may have been if Trinity didn’t have such nice things to say about Eureka and her DQ. We do know more about her as a person and about her personal/family life than we do with Shea which is a plus in her corner. She also is more developed than Shea having 5 CPs to (currently) Shea’s 1, although most times she’s developed as a character with mixed tone rather than positive or toneless development. The next two episodes will tell which one of these will win if they do end up in the finals together in my opinion.

Drag Race Edgic- Season 9 Episode 7

There was a lot of tone this episode lol and no UTRs <3333.

Alexis- She has no shot of winning. This episode she was painted as really annoying and a know-it-all. Not a good look!

Farrah- She’s my fav <3 if god was real she would win this season <333 she has like no chance however :/

Nina- She’s completely eliminated after this episode, she got a lot of negative tone and didn’t even get a confessional until the runway looks segment.

Peppermint- Her edit is okay but she hasn’t gotten anything that makes her standout but episode 6 helped her edit a lot. I think she might be in the top 4 maybe the 4th place boot? Not sure though but I feel like she is going far.

Sasha- I was conflicted on whether to give her CPP or OTTP just because she only got 1 confessional but I thought it was profound enough to warrant a CPP. She related something in her personal life to her drag while talking about how she expresses her drag. Her edit is still way too under-edited for a winner.

Shea- I was also conflicted on whether to give a MORP or OTTP but I felt like her edit was less OTT and that MOR fit her better. With this being her 3rd straight week with positive tone, I really find her starting to separate herself from people like Valentina.

Trinity- I also love her too <33. This was a good episode for her but the thing that holds her down was how she was acting in the beginning it was kinda seen as shady and the music played during then supported that. Like her general demeanor

Valentina- I was really conflicted on what to give her. I went with MOR but I kinda feel like maybe UTR3 might be better???? I just hate giving UTRs to people with ≤ 3 visibilities lol. What concerns me is when Trinity was talking about not getting comfortable we were shown shots of Valentina which made me think a downfall edit might come for Valentina where she gets too comfortable and then goes home?

Aja- She was the center of drama this episode, mostly because she created it lol. For her overall rating I gave her an OTTM because I felt like overall, as a character, she was more on the dramatic OTT side.

Drag Race Edgic- Season 9 Episode 6

I just don’t like this season lol. None of these queens are really getting developed and they don’t even do mini-challenges anymore! I’m so late on this episode lmfao. Valentina’s decrease in visibility as the competition gets smaller and smaller is a big reason why I put someone with a much more consistent edit like Shea over her. Peppermint is less likely and Nina is hanging on by her press on nails. I could’ve eliminated Nina this episode but i’m still holding out for a CPPP5 next episode lol (I haven’t watched episode 7 yet!)

Drag Race Edgic- Season 9 Episode 4 + 5

At this point I really can only realistically consider Valentina or Shea to be the winners. I can’t completely rule out Nina although her negativity this episode is a big blemish. Peppermint’s edit isn’t something I can rule out either but her edit is less consistent than Shea. Everyone else I don’t really see winning. This season’s edgic is kinda tragic lol. I’m not gonna do episode 4 summaries, too much typing lol. Let’s dive into the summaries for episode five now. 

Aja- Ok so she did get directly called out by Peppermint with negative SPV but I didn’t really see this warranting a N tone. OTTN for her just felt weird to me, same with the others that Peppermint mentioned. 

Alexis- She would’ve been UTR if not for her first confessional. These last two episodes have started to show the divide between her and Shea who got the same ratings from episodes 1-3. I feel like she might leave soon.

Cynthia- For her I think her edit is too OTT to be a winner. I don’t see her going far though, this episode she was in the bottom 2 and didn’t go home yet we barely saw her.

Farrah- In the episode she got a lot of content but it was all mostly emotional and very one-toned. She didn’t really explain how she feels about the challenge, what she’s doing and how she thinks she’ll do. What cements that she can’t win even more was the disregard of her personal relationship with Cynthia. This weighs just as much on Cynthia too. In untucked we find out Cynthia gave Farrah her first gigs and how emotional their lip sync would actually be. Not showing this in the main show gives us an idea that the editors know Farrah (or Cynthia) won’t win and therefore won’t build/explain her relationships.

Nina- Her CPN this episode really weighs her edit down. I won’t rule her out completely yet due to the meh edits everyone else has but she’s definitely not as strong as she once was in terms of edit. If this attitudes persists through next episode, she’s toast.

Peppermint- She got a lot of visibility this episode but not that much development of her character. She got a couple confessionals about other people, had 1 throwaway confessional about being back in the workroom and then 1 confessional where she did actually get some development. I don’t think she’s winning but I could see her going far maybe to the end?

Sasha- She was basically nowhere to be seen this episode. At first I thought she might be UTRM since she got some negative SPV from Nina and then positive tone from the eating disorder scene but after the episode ended I felt like that negative tone was just to show Nina being bitter, jealous and thinking everyone is out to get her. This applies to the negative SPV she gave to Shea. Her edit is kinda Naomi Smalls like i’d say (I’m not looking at the S8 charts rn so I can’t say for sure lol) but there’s no way in hell she’s winning imo.

Shea- Pretty good episode for her. She didn’t get the development I’d like to see but the consistency of her edit and how she was the one to get the confessional on the eating disorder scene when it wasn’t her scene to begin with (it started with Eureka, Sasha and Valentina) have me seeing her as more of a viable contender with Valentina.

Trinity- They really milked her and Eureka’s feud this episode. 4 out of 5 of her confessionals related to Eureka but they also gave us her thoughts as well, so that’s why I gave her a MOR. 

Valentina- What worries me is that she didn’t get a confessional this episode, although she was just safe and didn’t really need to have one. It just gives me pause how the scene with her Eureka, and Sasha wasn’t shown from her perspective. What she said about her eating disorder could’ve really been made into a more positive moment. I think her edit is still good though.

Eureka- So we’ve gotten our first medical disqualification on Drag Race lol. Just like on Survivor, people that leave due to circumstances outside of their control especially health get OTTP ratings. Even though she got negative SPV from Trinity in the beginning, it was just kind of a rehash of what happened last episode and I feel like it was there because this was the last time we’d get to see this feud play out.

I’m really busy this week so I can only post my chart. This season is weird atm, my winner picks are weird bc there’s not 1 person I feel that has a viable winner’s edit at this point. Nina is too invisible right now, Valentina is too OTT for my liking (the least worrying tbh), Cynthia is too positive and OTT and Shea has no personal development. So I feel like there might need to a couple more episodes until I can see who’s being set up for the crown.

But <3 at Kimora being OTTN in ep 3 but OTTP in ep 3 untucked. Iconic!
