I've had some bad experiences
My birthday 12/31 is the only way to make money. When I attended Spelman they mistreated me and said I was "WHITE" and not a member of the "Black Community". Lassiter High School for me was like finishing school after Fickett Elementary. I'm not even bi-racial. I'm light-skinned with mixed ancestry. All of these people got involved: Halle Berry, Julia Roberts etc. I never even got a phone call from the President, he just tried to embarrass me in my room. I have a high IQ but also have Narcolesy from second hand smoke in my childhood home. A lot like Elon Musk, I was abused and my parents tried to bring it over to adulthood after having a stroke. I was going to save most of the details for my book but I've been through so much for not sharing my story. Mass Surviellence nearly ruined my life. People looking into my room to decide whether or not I'm a model or saying I'm not a journalist. Stealing my money out of the spiritual realm etc. With so many lost stories, I'm sharing some details of mine. I have a 151 IQ and doctors have tried to slow me down. It's a shame. Haters are going to hate but #PressOn will solve my problems with the human race...I got recruited.

The Right to Protest...
The right to protest is a fundamental pillar of a democratic society. It allows individuals to express their views, grievances, and demands in a public forum, promoting accountability and fostering dialogue between citizens and their government. This right is enshrined in various international human rights instruments, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which affirm the freedoms of assembly, association, and expression.
Exercising the right to protest can take many forms, from peaceful demonstrations and marches to sit-ins and digital activism. It serves as a crucial mechanism for marginalized and minority communities to voice their concerns, draw attention to injustices, and advocate for change. Protecting this right is essential for ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances, have an equal opportunity to participate in the democratic process and influence the policies that affect their lives.
However, the right to protest must be balanced with responsibilities. While individuals have the freedom to assemble and express their views, they must do so in a manner that respects the rights of others, adheres to the law, and maintains public order. Governments, in turn, have a duty to facilitate peaceful protests, protect participants from violence and harassment, and address the underlying issues that drive people to protest.
In recent times, concerns have been raised about the treatment of protesters, particularly those from minority and marginalized groups. Instances of excessive force, unlawful arrests, and intimidation undermine the right to protest and weaken trust in public institutions. It is imperative that authorities uphold the highest standards of human rights and provide avenues for redress and accountability when these standards are breached.
As we observe and support the exercise of the right to protest, we must remain vigilant in defending this essential freedom. It is through the collective efforts of individuals and institutions that we can ensure a more just, inclusive, and democratic society for all.

El setlist fue breve, pero contundente: “Five to One”, “When the Music’s Over”, “Break On Through (to the Other Side)”, “Touch Me”, “Light My Fire” y “The End”.

The Curated UltraLuxe Singapore Fest Returns
The UltraLuxe Singapore festival, a 10-day event featuring curated jewels, precious stones, timepieces, designers, including from India, edu-tainment and more is set to make a comeback this October. Here’s a preview outlined by Richa Goyal Sikri.
According to the 2021 Global Wealth Report by Credit Suisse Group, Singapore may have 437,000 millionaires by 2025 compared with 270,000 in 2020: a jump of ~62%. While other nations could boast of higher absolute figures, Singapore has the second highest density of millionaires in Asia at 5.5%. All based on an island where you can drive from one end to the other in forty minutes. And where there is wealth, there is patronage for the finer indulgences of life.
The country has successfully transitioned from being one of the most cautious during the pandemic, to one that is hungry to recapture its status as a regional hub. Singapore is open for work and play bringing back much-loved events such as the iconic Formula One race, top-notch entertainment, and the return of JeweLuxe, a curated jewellery show that has been an essential part of the country’s winter calendar of events.
This year, JeweLuxe will be part of a one-of-a-kind luxury festival, aptly named UltraLuxe, which will also debut the Singapore Watch Show. The festival will be held from 21st-30th October inside a plush, air-conditioned marquee at Ngee Ann City on Orchard Road, home to the internationally renowned Takashimaya department store. The ten-day affair will be an amalgamation of the best in fashion, jewellery, watches, and precious stones. Additionally, the festival will also offer a schedule of talks, panel discussions, demonstrations, and fashion shows featuring an array of subject-matter experts in design, gemstones, timepieces, fashion, and culture.
There are two clear segments of UltraLuxe: JeweLuxe for jewellery, and the Singapore Watch Show for spectacular timepieces.
Within JeweLuxe, designers have been organised across two editions: Icons & Legacies from 21st-25th October, and Wonders & Passions from 26th-30th October.
As the name suggests, Icons features jewellery designers whose work is recognisable, distinctive, and stretches the boundaries of convention in the art of jewellery making. Some examples include State Property, The Jewel Box, An Order of Bling who will launch a new collection at the show, from Singapore. From India, the exhibitors include Masterstrokes, with creations blending precious stones with enamelling, Umrao, bringing modern interpretation of vintage style, and the new and up-coming brand Tichu. Other Asian designers include Kavant & Sharart, Mousson Atelier, and Shelly by Dynasty. Rota E Rota celebrate interchangeability with their edgy designs, along with Zydo from Italy. Representing the Americas is the celebrated Silvia Furmanovich, and her superb creations in marquetry, Daria De Koning and Kimberly McDonald’s, with their mesmerising creations featuring an array of gemstones, and geodes.
The Legacy part of the first edition includes jewellery collections with rare gemstones, coloured diamonds, highly valued, historic techniques in artisanship, contained within high jewellery creations, which the organisers believe will stand the test of time and value appreciation. Some names include, SICIS from Italy who bring the ancient art of micro mosaic to high jewellery, home-grown brand Caratell, TENZO who beautifully blends intrinsic value with quality craftsmanship and design. First time participant FREYA brings a delightful collection of jewels featuring unusual shapes and styles of diamonds. Other participants include diamond specialist MORCHA, Infiniti Jewels, YOEL DEIL from Israel, Renee Jewellers from the UAE, to name a few. Floral and architectural creations abound in the second edition of JeweLuxe titled ‘Wonders & Passions’ from 26th-30th October featuring GEMAYEL from Lebanon, Dejade from Hong Kong, Leonori from Italy among others.
Angela Loh, Founder, UltraLuxe, shares her vision: “UltraLuxe marks a pivotal point in the evolution of JeweLuxe. Over the past two pandemic years, the luxury market has seen continued momentum and interest and is expected to grow further this year. As affluent consumers around the globe rally behind niche brands in their respective cities, they are re-shaping their perspective of luxury. The pursuit of purpose and meaning in design and craft is the underlying force that propels this movement. UltraLuxe is the culmination of this trend, presenting “purpose-focused” luxury that extends beyond jewellery and timepieces to include fashion and living.”

My Students Deserve Better
As a teacher and an avid reader, I’ve always believed that books were the keys that could open any doorway. And as a high school English teacher in a low income district, I believed that if I could just get books in the hands of my students and got them to read a little bit every day it was a victory. But getting them to read every day, even as I make time for it every day in my lesson plans, was like pulling teeth. I kept pushing them to keep trying, to give it a shot, to just pick SOMETHING from my classroom library to read.
And after reposting all the comprehensive lists of black authors and characters and even the new release lists for Pride month I realized why so many were struggling to remain engaged with the books I kept shoving at them: I don’t have any of those books on the shelves in my classroom library.
I have been a terrible ally.
I spent so much time trying to get them to love the same books that I read and loved that I never paid any attention to the fact that they were always books with heroes and heroines that I could always relate to, because they were like me or mirrored my experiences. And it’s mostly because my classroom books have always come from my personal library or books that were donated, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that I haven’t done much to change that. And in this way I have failed my students.
So you can bet your ass my summer reading list and purchase list for the fall looks WAY different than it normally does. I’ve put the list I’ve compiled so far below. If you have any other recs you think I should add or if you can donate a book to my classroom library, PLEASE let me know. My kids deserve better representation of their voices in my classroom and I want to do my best to make it happen. Thank you❤️

City Lights Bookstore’s Antiracist Reading List | UPDATED
Human creativity is integral to revolutionary resistance—the urgent plea, the silenced cry, the righteous rage. It is imperative that we educate and illuminate ourselves to deepen our commitment to justice and equity for Black people and all people of color, and to pave the way for radical systemic change.

TO CLARIFY: I mean no disrespect towards the victims and I don’t condone the murders. May they rest in peace ❤️
On June 12, 2016, a mass shooting happened at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, FL. The perpetrator was Omar Mateen. The motive for his actions have many theories and aren’t set in stone. Overall, 50 people were killed (including Omar) and 58 injured. This shooting was once the deadliest mass shooting in history at the time it happened.
May they rest in peace:

Dear Mercer Police,
I would like to interview you about how POLICE were created to control slaves and the CJ program talking about African American History. I'm a Mercer Student and something went wrong last year. The therapist on campus couldn't explain AI of the brain. Julie Petherbridge is my dean and wouldn't contact the Psychology people for me. When I turn on my TV: I see the news (that's me), I see commercials and TV/Movies, I'm an actress. Growth hacking is very hard for me. Mark Zuckerburg took Facebook so far, I haven't made much with POSHGLAM so I'm still in school. In Marketing, what worked in the past doesn't necessarily work in the future. Google is saying: The only way to combat AI is "Real Intelligence". I also have a question about the FBI on campus: Are all COPS in the CIA with my middle name being "ERICA". My name went viral after 9/11 when I'd had one semester a Spelman. They said I was "White" when I have two light-skinned parents and mixed ancestry. I only have 3 more classes at Mercer, I trying to finish them somewhere that has oncampus classes. My charity is Chat for Charity and I'm working with Josh McKoon. It's a slow process. Either way, please send questions or ideas.
Kindest Regards,
~Kimberly

Books with Winged Characters
I’m working on compiling a list of books where a main character has wings or winged people are a significant part of the story. I have read a fair amount of these but not all.
Books
Above World (series) by Jenn Reese
Angelfall (Penryn and the End of Days series) by Susan Ee
Ascendant by Kimberly Grey
Between the Sea and Sky by Jaclyn Dolamore
Birdwing by Rafe Martin
Black and Blue Magic by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
The Book of Flying by Keith Miller
The Boy Who Could Fly by James Norcliffe
Catwings by Ursula K. LeGuin: Cats with wings.
The Cloud Roads (Books of the Raksura) by Martha Wells
Defect by Will Weaver
Down (Zalensia #1) by Jo Dresden Haskell
Feathers by Jorge Corona: a graphic novel.
Five Children and It by E. Nesbit
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
Growing Wings by Laurel Winter
Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
Harpy Thyme by Piers Anthony
The Icarus Project by Laura Quimby: Odd example since the title and cover imply a lot of this theme, but wings appear on like five pages.
Immortal City by Scott Speer
Mail-Order Wings by Beatrice Gormley
Maximum Ride (series) by James Patterson
Mr. Pye by Mervyn Peake
Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter
Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson
Raising Dragons (Dragons in Our Midst series) by Bryan Davis: One main character has dragon-like wings.
Rapture by David Sosnowski
Self-Portrait with Wings, by Susan Kohn Green
Skellig, by David Almond
Stormbite by T. Hearts
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender
The Tale of Angelino Brown by David Almond
Tama of the Light Country by Ray Cummings
The Things with Wings by Greg Holch
To Dream, Perchance to Soar by Ashlyn Nafina
Valkyrie by Kate O’Hearn
The Wayfarer Redemption by Sara Douglass
When the Wind Blows and The Lake House by James Patterson: The origin of the idea that was repackaged for younger readers as Maximum Ride.
When We Have Wings by Claire Corbett: The gold standard for sci-fi winged people as far as I’m concerned.
The Winged Man by A.E. van Vogt
Wings by Bill Brittain
Wings by Julie Gonzalez
The Wings of Merlin by T. A. Barron
Year of the Griffin, by Diana Wynne Jones: Main character is a griffin, but there are some good descriptions of flying and life with wings. There's a brief mention of the griffin's siblings who are winged humanoids (it's an unusual family).
Short Stories
“Men with Wings” By Leslie F. Stone First appearing in Air Wonder Stories (July 1929) and Women With Wings (1930)
A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings (short story) by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
“Wings in the Morning” by Sarah Rees Brennan, in anthology Monstrous Affections (Part of the world introduced in her book In Other Lands, which features harpies.)
Picture Books
Gwinna by Barbara Helen Berger
Wings by Christopher Myers
Feel free to add to the list.

Octopus - Thoughts on the deep parts of the oceans
Katana - Have you ever used a weapon?
Loceit - Tell us a common misconception
Intrulogical - Creepiest fact you know
Logicality - Do you tend to listen more to your heart or your head?
Roman - What’s your biggest dream?
Patton - What’s something you love about yourself?
I think the thing that gets me the most about the deep ocean is the incredible amount of water pressure that exists and the fact that these gigantic blind monstrosities just... live there all the time. Under all that constant pressure. It's a good metaphor. And real life.
The closest I've come to a real weapon was archery class at summer camp and I was devastated that I wasn't immediately good at it.
Common Misconception: blood diamonds don't actually make it to the jewelry market like ever. There's a whole system of checks and balances where mines and cutters and other parts of the diamond supply chain have to certify that they aren't dealing with stones sold to fuel wars and conflict(blood diamonds). Trust the Kimberly Process
The creepiest fact is cockroaches can survive for a very long time without their heads. I do not appreciate this as I have stared down a cockroach after coming out of the shower with nothing to exterminate it with.
I tend to listen more to my head because it n e v e r s h u t s u p. Also I desensitized myself to most emotions when I was in middle school because people suck :)
Right now my biggest dream is to own a house so that I can have a native plant lawn filled with grasses and wildflowers from the area instead of ugly lawn grass.
Love about myself? Hahaha have you met me? (No you haven't) I guess I love when I'm able to pull myself together to accomplish fricken impossible things like doing a report with almost 3k entries on it today and sending close to 300 alerts just to catch up on stuff I've kinda put off for months at work
