sometimes i'm so glad that I never got into idol worship when I was a kid cause it genuinely makes me care less about modern celebrities. All I know is that I felt insanely jealous about cartoons portraying teenage girls with these shrines relating to their celebrity crushesss and they have sleepovers talking about how hot jason isss...

Okay, so, I think that I'm going to make a Network site on neocities and that can be a hub for me and anyone else in here who wants their own website. And we can have a page for intros that are brief for anyone who doesnt (that we just copy from SimplyPlural lbr) and then if there's a plurality or fictionkind webring we can just add our hub site. Or maybe we could make a webring? Would anyone be interested in that? It might not get off the ground if I'm the only Network member doing it but I think it would be cool I did a light snoop and only found resource sites but I also just got off work and am going to bed so who knows. I don't think it has to be a neocities site to be in the webring if the webring is just like a directory of sites.

if my game gets any degree of audience i feel like the fandom's gonna be the kind to put up pictures and little shrines of the characters. like you know that one guy who put a framed picture of kim kitsuragi in their fridge? i feel like people could do that with pretty much any of the main cast, excluding arctus. i do feel like if it gets big enough there's gonna be a subset of Freaks who think arctus is hot, which i can't control but i'm marginally worried over. a bit of a "you'd fuck a fence if it was white" moment, i'd imagine

I just keep thinking of the fan made spontaneous Kim Kitsuragi shrine that popped up at the event ZAUM was at right before the news broke. like that’s not going to happen again. The DE Twitter gets yelled at for interacting with fanart now. When they show up to some event again it’s gonna be nothing but egg throwing.

I’m sure the investors behind this don’t understand that people are loyal to disco elysium and not to their Brand but. Once again I’m just kind of flabbergasted by how poorly they’ve handled their takeover. The attempts at damage control were laughable, news has spread to the international community and now outside of DE fans entirely. The press is not good.

The only thing I want to say about ZAUM is that it’s kind of shocking, just how badly they’re handling this. Like @mindblownie said If they had just disclosed that Kurvitz, Rostov, and Hindpere were no longer there for some vague shit like 'creative differences' the fandom would’ve been sad but willing to move on. It happens, like that’s just a thing that happens sometimes, especially with game development.

When I heard Kurvitz might not be there a few months ago I genuinely believed he might’ve quietly backed out because who knows what happens when your game gets big and you aren’t exactly a big boy game dev, you know? Lots of stress I figured and Kurvitz has always been pretty reserved and not much of a public figure.

But they fired them last year, they’ve had months to prepare for the fallout and they just decided to pretend like they were still working there? What did they think was going to happen? Now they’ve burnt up so much goodwill and their responses are so feeble and half assed…it’s just a mess. We may not have full information about what went down but it’s clear ZAUM never really had a plan for handling this either.
