Hair
Kili x human!reader
Summary: Kili learns something new about you and loves it
Warnings: nudity but no smut
"Y/N?" Kili called through the door. You had been getting ready for bed at the moment. Dressed in soft pajamas and ready for slumber. Your room had a great fire burning, and due to that, you stuck to just a night shirt this evening.
"Kili!" You were not expecting company tonight. You raced and put on the first pair of pants you saw. The shirt and pants combo you currently had going on was a fashion felony. You could only hope he wouldn't ask about it.
You walked over and opened the door. He stood looking up at you with a smile. "Hello," he spoke softly with a smile. You had joined him on the journey to reclaim this mountain. You've known him for over a year, and yet he still looks at you like it's the first time.
"Hello," you said in the same tone, "what are you doing here?" You smiled after your question, so he knew you weren't really upset.
He walked forward and placed his hands on your waist. His thumbs caressed your stomach as he spoke, "I can not visit the woman I love?"
You rolled your eyes at his comment. "Come inside. I'm not in the mood to be battered by lectures tomorrow about what 'is' and 'is not' proper."
"I will always gladly enter your chambers," he said in a smug tone.
"Kili," you laugh and pull him inside. He removed his outer layer and helped himself to sit on your bed. Once comfortable, he was able to get a better look at you. He looked you up and down, then cocked his head to the side.
"Interesting form of dress, Y/n... is it the new style?"
"Very funny. So what if it is? Not a fan?" You posed in your atrocious outfit as if it were fine fabric.
"Oh, of course," he said sarcastically. The fire roared on, and you had been sweating since he walked in. Kili stood and placed the sleeve on his shirt on your forehead and wiped some of the perspiring off. "Too warm? Are you feeling alright?" His eyes scanned all over your face for any other discomforts.
"No, it's just hot in here," you told him.
"Would you like me to put out your fire?" he began walking to the hearth, "it's no trouble."
"The fire is fine it's just -"
"Just me?" He smirked at his comment.
"No," you smiled, "I'm just warm."
"You can always remove a layer..." His smile grew, "I don't mind."
"See, that's why I won't. Someone refuses to control himself," You joked.
"What!," he spoke with mock offense. "Can't control himself?! I'll have you know, I have always been one of great control," He smiled brightly.
"You are ridiculous," you smiled and reached for the tie of your pants. You weren't sure why you were worried. Your shirt was long and came to your thighs. You pushed the worries away with the pants. You could tell he was resisting looking, to prove his claims of 'self control'.
"Feeling better?" He asked as you sat on the bed beside him. His eyes were boring into yours, and you found it hilarious. You wanted to test his patience, so you crossed your legs, letting one brush his.
"I am, yes," you spoke like this was nothing. "It's okay if you look, you know... I won't tell." You let your words trail off, and one could argue it was suggestively.
He gulped before letting his eyes climb down to your now bare legs. He cocked his head again, and his brows furrowed. "Oh..."
A wave of fear flooded you again. Suddenly insecure due to his reaction. "Oh?" You hoped that he would take the hint to elaborate as to why he had the reaction he did.
He noticed the unease in your voice and clarified, "Oh! I was just surprised. I wasn't aware that human women also grew hair on the bodies. I thought it was only dwarven women." He looked up at you with wide eyes, trying to convey how genuine he was trying to be.
"Is that a problem?" You wanted to sound strong, as if it didn't get to you.
"Oh no," He placed a hand on your bare knee, "It only makes you more attractive." He began placing warm kisses by your ear and worked down the neck.
You exhaled and laughed. "You scared me for a second! I thought you'd be disgusted! Also, I was right," you pulled him off, "No self-control."
His eyes looked foggy, like the idea of doing something else other than talking had taken over his mind. "Can you blame me, amrâlimê?" He leaned in and placed a heated kiss on your lips. You had always underestimated the strength of dwarves. So when he pulled you into his lap, like you weighed nothing at all, of course you gasped.
You felt him chuckle on your lips. You never thought that a new discovery of hair could turn him on so much. But now you know you never have to spend money on a razor ever again.

My Sweet Valentine ~ Kili x Human!Reader
A/N: So yesterday I asked who shall receive a lil love on this day and Kili won!! So here ya go it is literally just a tiny little short one shot but its smth :)
⇢ ˗ˏˋ Warnings: fluff ࿐ྂ ⇢ ˗ˏˋ Words: 424 ࿐ྂ ⇢ ˗ˏˋ Request: No :) ࿐ྂ ⇢ ˗ˏˋ Amrâlimé ~ My Love ࿐ྂ
Summary: You spent your morning hours with the wonderful dwarf prince Kili
Soft fingers stroked your cheek gently, making you stir awake from your slumber. You see Kilis brown eyes fill with warmth, as you woke up beside him. After the two of you decided to court, you were basically inseparable. You even shared a bedroom with the prince, which of course he doesn’t mind.
“Good morning Amrâlimé. Did you sleep well?” A smile graced your lips, as his groggy morning voice filled your ears. “How could I ever sleep bad beside you my love?” Your arms snaked tighter around him. Head on his chest you listened to his heartbeat. Chuckling at your words, he gave you a gentle kiss on the top of your head.
“Well if we consider yesterday-“ Your hand slapped at his chest playfully to stop him from finishing his sentence. Yesterday was another one of the infamous festivities that are celebrated in Erebor. And of course you attended them with Kili by your side. So one thing led to the other and now you were waking up beside him, completely bare.”You are such a tease.” You say while hiding the blush on your face by cuddling further into his chest.
One of his hands moved from your back to your head. His fingers nimbly brushed through your hair to get rid of knots while you hummed contently. You loved it when he played with your hair. And so did he. One of your favourite past time activities is braiding each other’s hair. Sometimes you sing during these times. And sometimes Kili plays a few soft notes on the flute while you add cute accessories into his braid.
You remember the first time you braided his hair. You were on your journey to win Erebor back when you found beautiful wildflowers which you thought would look stunning in Kilis hair. So you asked him if you could do so. Which resulted in him suddenly getting really quiet and blushing a bit while nodding. After you have finished his braid he asked you if you knew what it meant to braid a dwarfs hair. And so he explained the customs of courting to you. Which in return coloured your cheeks red. He even offered you a courting bead.
The sudden kiss on your lips takes you back to your reality. Smiling softly you let your hands brush over his stubble. “I love you Kili.” You gave him another soft peck. A sigh left his lips, as he pulled you closer. “Let me show you how much I love you Amrâlimé.”

How would the fellowship, Thorin, Fili, Kili, Haldir, Arwen and Eomer react to someone they like who always calls everyone by cute names like ‘love’, ‘babe’, ‘hon’, ‘darling’ etc.
Oooh, good question! I’m going to split this up into LoTR & The Hobbit imagines for the whole casts if that’s all right 😄
LoTR Characters When You Call Everyone Pet Names
Aragorn
His favorite part of your habit, in all honesty, is other people’s reactions. The first time you do it to him he sort of quirks up a brow, but others take it more extremely, offense or otherwise. He gets protective, though, if those others respond taking it too far. He’ll step in front of you if they start flirting with you or try to touch you unbidden even if you’re just friends at that point. No matter who in his group that is, unacceptable. At the use of a regular name slid into the flows of your conversation, something akin to "Oh, honey, you have no idea", his lips quirk up and privately he wonders if you’ve ever meant it.
Legolas
Your first meeting is you brushing past him at Rivendell with an "Excuse me, darling". Needless to say he stares after you with wide eyes because you must know him, but from where? Then you greet Elrond with an enthusiastic "Sweetheart, how I have missed you", and while the Lord of Imladris appears aware of the affront, he is also amused. Clearly this is simply your manner. Because of this, he accepts it without much overthought, though your pet names never fail to bring a smile to the elf prince's lips.
Boromir
The kindness you show him almost breaks him- is he worthy of your honeyed words? "Easy, dear heart, the troubles you carry are not even your own, are they?" The part of him tempted to lash out almost wins, but at the end of the day, you are right. All he can do is shake his head. He's heard you say call such sweet names before, but alongside your other words they pierce his heart like nothing before. He bids you sit by his side. "Wish me to speak or to listen?" You ask, and that is when Boromir knows he has fallen for you.
Gimli
"Who are you calling sweetheart, darling?" Offended as he may be, Gimli also takes it as a challenge of sorts, leaning in closer with smug satisfaction. It becomes a sort of tension for you both, an odd banter of affectionate nicknames tossed out even with the bloodiest challenges. "Cut his head off, Gimli darling!" "Wouldn't dream of doing any less, dear!" Gimli begins getting offended as your habit pops out with others, asking you pointedly what you think you're doing calling the elf sweetheart. "What's he done to earn that, eh?" Leaning in, your noses almost brushing, you give him a smile dripping with smug mock-sweetness. "I thought you didn't enjoy being called that." "Well," he crosses his arms stubbornly, eyes falling away from yours, "I suppose I've gotten used to it now."
Frodo
"Frodo, my sweet, please eat just a bit more for me, I worry so." Frodo's heart does a somersault- he's made sure notice of your habit by now, heard you speak your darlings and sweethearts aplenty. You often said it to tease the others when spirits were light or when you cared for them, but that was not all. The words my sweet were reserved for him. Everyone else got a plethora, it seemed, but him, and it vexed him in the best way possible, twisting his heart like nothing else. The sound of it was like a balm to Frodo, and he dared hope it held the meaning he dearly wished it to, for he was too shy to ask it of you just yet.
Sam
“Sam, love, pass me the ladle, if you please.” Samwise, thinking his heart might burst from his chest and run right up to you, pauses, speaks carefully. “What was that?” He asks, your name falling softly, almost delicately, from his lips. He’d heard the way you tease people before, usually addressing them as ‘my dear’. This was something else. The smile you gave him in response, too, was practically enough to kill him- could you tell? “I just asked if I might borrow the ladle, love.” Yep, the jig was up now.
Merry
“It’s got to be some sort of custom.” “That or you’ll be very, very wrong.” You arched a private brow over Merry and Pippin’s back-and-forth whispering, but thought nothing more of it until your next interaction with the blonde hobbit. “Merry, sweetheart, what are you doing?” Looking up from his knife, he held up a small chunk of wood with a strangely cocky grin. “Just a bit of whittling, dear.” Something about the roguish look he gave you, the confidence with which he adopted your habit, had your heart fluttering; you faltered a bit in your response before you sat at his side. Unbeknownst to you, he was elbowing Pippin triumphantly on the other side.
Pippin
His heart soars the first time he hears you call him honey. No matter what attacks you or what happens that day, day made. Then he hears you saying "No put that down, Merry sweetheart" and it all comes crashing to the ground because he’d gotten it into his head that he was special- was he wrong? He had to have been. When the words so easily pass between your lips again, this time in the form of '"Gimli dear, let me see that", hurt mingles with realization of your manner- that is just how you are. Moments pass, thoughts drifting by as clouds deciding whether or not to storm, before Pippin makes up his mind: he'll make known his interest, try everything he can until he truly does stand out.
Faramir
Publicly he barely humors it, trying to keep a tough face when his seniors or especially his father are present. Privately? It amuses him. Pleases his heart to see one with light spirits in the face of everything. Your ways make you something of an anchor, a reminder why he does the things that he does. You make Faramir laugh and he knows Boromir enjoys your company too- the three of you together form an escape that reminds Faramir of his younger days. And perhaps that happiness you always brings him has slowly metamorphosed, glimmering with hope every time you call him dear.
Eomer
This man, a military leader, and you call him honey? Eomer is shaken up honestly. He can’t even be annoyed because he’s too busy freezing with a slight frown upon his face. Wits coming back about him, he opens his mouth to question you, ask in his blunt way why you address him so... then you turn around and call his sister my dearest and oh, perhaps he was truly overthinking it. He laughs it off, swears to put it out of his head...but the mental image of you calling him a name of endearment plays over and over again whether he wills it or not.
Haldir
“And what has our precious jewel brought to us now?” Since discovering Haldir bristled a bit at your little names, you had decided to find the most ridiculous ones possible for the marchwarden. It worked every time, too, judging by the furrow of his brow. “They go to the Lady of Lórien,” he replied simply, not to be goaded so easily. The man he seemed to know the best, the ranger, exchanged looks of amusement with you. “And what do you have to say for yourself, my dear?” You asked the man. Just as you suspected, Haldir’s expression darkened a bit further- perhaps he had gotten a bit more used to his names than he let on. At that, you couldn’t help a chuckle and a smirk.
Eowyn
Though she may not voice it, she is questioning of your ways at first because she has firsthand experience of people using words as weapons, saying whatever they can to influence others’ will. So sure, call her dear but you will get nothing of her she does not want to give. The day this changes is actually when you call her brother a pet name and he’s shocked and the wide look in her eyes has both of you laughing in a way you usually do not. She envies your carefree ways and from that moment on enjoys basking in them. It is impossible to help the way her heart gives a little flutter whenever a 'dear' or 'my darling' is directed her way, however...
Arwen
The surprise she fixes you with upon playfully addressing her as ‘my pretty’ encourages you, if you are being honest. It’s a pleasant look, flattered and floored, that you think a lady like Arwen deserves to make again and again. As a result, while everyone else gets a casual darling or dear, you make it your mission to fluster Arwen as much as possible. “Ah, treasure, how has this day treated you so far?” She flushes. “…Well, I say. Thank you. And I wish you to know that you are no less than you say I am. The way you speak to me? It can also be said of yourself.”
Elrond
You are caring. Parental. As a father of three, Elrond appreciates the way you speak gently and warmly. Assist his healed patients with soft whispers of be free of your pain, dear heart. As he granted you leave to use his name rather than My Lord you still slip up at times…until it becomes quite the opposite and a good night, dear slips from your lips upon parting for the evening. Elrond accepts and assures your every apology with an affectionate smile, shocking himself with the realization that his feelings for you are much stronger than he had allowed himself awareness of.

___________________________________________________________
So much has happened in such little of time. First Gandalf offers me a proposition for aiding a company of Dwarves, then we’re being pursued by orcs, then get imprisoned by the Elven king Thranduil. Now we find ourselves at the mercy of the Men of Laketown.
Thankfully another friend of mine Bard was willing to let us stay the night at his house but of course the Dwarves had to screw it all up by going to the armory to steal the weapons and end up getting caught by the Master of the Lake’s guards. But by some miracle, we were granted the supplies we needed to get us to Erebor to complete the quest before sunset. Of course I knew it was because of the Master’s greediness that he agreed to help, he never was a good man.
“You do know we’re one short, where’s Bofur?” Bilbo asked.
“If he’s not here, we leave him behind.” Said Thorin.
“We’ll have to, if we’re to find the door before nightfall. We can’t risk no more delays.” Balin agreed grimly as everyone began piling into the boat. But as I was just halfway over the plank, I felt a hand stop me.
“Not you.” I turned to see Thorin.
“What?”
“We must travel at speed, you’ll only slow us down.” He told me.
“I’m coming with you all to the Mountain. I promised Gandalf that I would.”
“(Y/n), you have been a big help to me and my kin. The first Ranger to truly stand for our cause. But lately you haven’t been up to par on your health. Stay here and rest, rejoin us when you’re healed.” Just because I’ve been feeling a bit sluggish since the river incident, doesn’t mean I’m helpless.
“Thorin—”
“I will say no more on the matter.” Without another word, Thorin went back onto the boat whilst I had no choice but to sit back down on the docks, feeling a chill suddenly come over me.
“I’ll stay with the lass, my duty lies with the wounded.” Oin said as he voluntarily got off the boat and came up to me.
“Uncle, (Y/n) has done more for this company than any other outsider could’ve done for us. You cannot repay her by leaving her behind.” Fili stepped up for me.
“Fili no.” I told him.
“I will carry her if I must!” Fili argued.
“Fili, one day you will be king and you will understand. I cannot risk the fate of this quest for the sake of a Ranger. Even if she were the only one willing to help us.” As Oin began feeling my forehead for a temperature, I soon watched as Fili stormed off the boat but Thorin stopped him. “Fili, don’t be a fool. Your place is with the company.”
“My place is with her!” he snapped back at his uncle before taking back his arm and came over to me.
“Why did you do that? I thought you always wanted to see Erebor, you told me so yourself.”
“I’ll have plenty of opportunities to see the kingdom in my lifetime, but your wellbeing is more important to me than all the gold in Erebor.” I felt my cheeks grow warm as I softly thanked him.
“And don’t think it’ll just be Fee that’s gonna help you get back on your feet.” We turned to see Kili had also left the boat.
“Kili, you didn’t have to stay behind too.” Fili said.
“Yeah I could’ve gone but it’s my decision too.” He came up to me and stood on my right side. “You saved my life back in the Woodland realm, I’ll gladly do everything I can to help you now (Y/n).” I smiled and looked at the brothers.
“You guys truly are the best friends I’ve ever had. Thank you.” They both nodded and as the Laketown band played a victorious fanfare to wish our friends luck, a sudden dizziness overcame me.
My vision was going in and out of focus and as the crowd cheered as the boat with our friends departed from the docks, I suddenly fell forward, the last thing I heard was Fili’s voice calling my name.
*3rd Person POV*
When (Y/n) had passed out on the dock, Fili cried out (Y/n)’s name as Oin came up and began searching over her body for any trace of an infected wound or trace of blood. Knowing that she had saved Kili from that arrow back when they were trying to escape the orcs on the river, there must’ve been a wound he might’ve missed before they came across Bard.
“OH, did you miss the boat too?” they soon heard the missing Dwarf, Bofur’s voice say. But the moment he saw (Y/n) passed out, his concern grew as he asked Kili. “What happened to her?”
“We don’t know. She just—suddenly passed out.”
“Her fever’s spiking lads. We have to get her help right away!” Oin said.
“Kee, help me out here!” together the brothers lifted her up by her arms while Oin and Bofur got her legs and they walked back towards the Master’s manor to ask for help. After pushing through the guards, Fili cried out. “Please wait! Please, we need your help. Our friend is sick!”
“Sick? Is it infectious?” the Master exclaimed fearfully as he covered his nose with his handkerchief and fearfully cowered behind Alfrid. “Get back! Alfrid, Alfrid don’t let them come any closer!”
“Please. We need medicine.” Oin pleaded. Alfrid walked closer as he sneered at them.
“Do I look like an apothecary? Haven’t we given you enough? The Master’s a busy man, he hasn’t got time to worry about sick Rangers! Let alone this one right ‘ere. All she’s ever done for this town is ruin the Master’s good name and turn the people against him.”
“She’s helped these people in their hour of need! Are you willing to let her die because of your own selfish needs?!” Kili demanded.
“None of our concern. She’s not a paying citizen here, therefore she’s not our problem. Now off you pop! Less we use more drastic measures.” With that Alfrid and the Master shut the doors and the guards ordered them away.
After being rejected by the Master, they tried going to other people to see if they could help but all of them were either too scared to go against the Master’s wishes, or didn’t have enough supplies to help aid her as well as their own sick family members.
With no other options left, the Dwarves raced back to Bard’s home. Knowing of their friendship, they’d hope that at least he could help them. Bofur knocked on the door frantically and as soon as Bard saw them, he sneered.
“No, I’m done with Dwarves. Go away!” he went to shut the door but Bofur stopped him pleading.
“No, no please! Please! No one will help us. (Y/n) is sick.” Bard opened the door further to see his good friend now sickly pale, strands of her hair stuck to her face from the profuse sweating she was doing, and her breathing was now choked gasps. “She’s very, very sick.” Even with the grievance he had with the Dwarves for risking the safety of not only his children but the entire town of Dragon fire, he didn’t have the heart to turn his dear friend away.
“Bring her in.” Bard stepped aside and the four dwarves quickly piled in while Bard quickly looked around before shutting the door. “Put her over there. I’ll see what I have.” Bard went to the back of the house as the Dwarves set her down on the nearby couch. Fili took her hand between his and squeezed it.
“Hang on (Y/n), we’re all here to help you. Just…..don’t go where I cannot follow.” He whispered to her stroking the back of her hand with his thumb. Kili watched his older brother and knowing of his feelings towards the Ranger, he couldn’t help but feel guilty knowing that it was because of his carelessness that the woman his brother loved got hurt to save him.
As the night overcame the lake, (Y/n)’s health was gradually becoming worse. Oin did managed to find a small graze just underneath her elbow. A graze that came from an orc arrow tipped with poison. Already the wound (even for as small as it was) had already started to become infected and the poison was spreading fast.
(Y/n) was tossing and turning, panting as her body was glistening with sweat.
“Nothing’s working! Can you not do something!?” demanded Fili who was growing more frantic by the second seeing the woman he came to love be in such agony.
“I need herbs! Something to bring down her fever.” Bard soon came in with some more supplies and began listing them off.
“I have nightshade, feverfew…..”
“No, no there no use to me. Do you have any Kingsfoil?” said Oin but Bard told him.
“No. It’s a weed we feed it to the pigs.”
“Pigs? Weed. Right. Don’t move.” Bofur said before leaving the house. As Kili was continuing to dab a damp, cool cloth across (Y/n)’s face and neck to ease her of her sweating, a rumble was soon heard coming from the mountain.
“Da?” asked one of Bard’s daughters Sigrid.
“It’s coming from the mountain.” Answered Bard’s son, Bain. Bard had feared the worst, the dwarves had awoken Smaug the Terrible and soon the prophecy would come to pass, the Lake will shine and burn.
“You should leave us.” Fili said as he walked up to Bard. “Take your children, get out of here.”
“And go where? There’s nowhere to go.” Bard told him in defeat. Little Tilda stepped in front of her siblings and asked her father fearfully.
“Are we going to die Da?” Bard looked at his youngest child and assured her.
“No darling.”
“The dragon, it’s going to kill us.” Bard then turned towards a beam just above the kitchen and gripped a thin but firm piece of what appeared to be black iron. He pulled it down from the beam to reveal that it was a Black arrow, the very same black arrow that can only be used to kill the dragon.
“Not if I kill it first.” Bard said determinedly. He then asked his son to come with him while the girls stayed behind with the Dwarves to help take care of their Aunt.
Time passed and (Y/n)’s fever was getting even worse. Her breathing was sharp and panicked and she was now starting to writhe in agony.
“Durin’s beard where is Balin with that Kingsfoil!?” Fili demanded.
“I have the right mind to go out and look for him myself!” Kili snapped.
“You can’t leave! With the guards on patrol, they’ll arrest you too and aunt (Y/n) will never get better!” Bain said. “No one is leaving this house understood!?” hearing the young man take a stand against the Dwarves made them both feel shock and admiration.
“Very well laddie. But I don’t know how long (Y/n) has got left, she’s growing weaker by the second.” Oin said to Bain.
“Tilda, Sigrid, come with me to get more rags and water for aunt Hela.” The siblings soon left while Fili gripped (Y/n)’s hand tighter.
“Fi…….li.” she choked out.
“I’m right beside you (Y/n).” he whispered to her. Slowly opening her eyes she croaked out.
“Fili…..if anything hap-happens to me—”
“Don’t talk like that (Y/n). We’re going to heal you, Bofur’s probably found the Kingsfoil by now, he’s just probably ducking the guards and taking longer. Please don’t give in now.” He squeezed her hand between his. “Don’t go where I can’t follow.”
Suddenly a scream was heard and next thing everyone knew orcs began dropping down from the rooftop or coming in through the front door. The dwarves grabbed whatever they could to fight off the orcs but there were too many of them, and with the tightly constricted area the house provided, there was hardly any fighting room.
Kili got the children to duck under the table and fought off any orc that tried to come close to them, while Oin and Fili worked together to fend off any orc that came near (Y/n). When they thought they were done for, help came from both Legolas and Tauriel who had been tracking down the orcs since they left Mirkwood.
As Fili managed to block an orc’s attack with a kitchen knife, (Y/n) had managed to crawl out of the couch and use a fire-poker to stab the orc through its spine. But she soon let out a cry of agony as she collapsed to the ground, the poison fully starting to overcome her. Eventually, all the orcs were either killed off or had begun to retreat from the house.
“You killed them all.” Bain said as he and his sisters got out from under the table after all went quiet in the house.
“There are others, Tauriel.” Legolas ordered but Tauriel was hesitant. As Oin came down beside (Y/n) and felt around her neck to feel her pulse was slowing down, Fili and Kili came down beside her as Oin said fearfully.
“We’re losing her!”
“Tauriel.” Legolas said to her. She turned back to her prince and said.
“The Ranger has done no harm to us, is there nothing we can do to help her?”
“She is beyond help. I’m sorry, there’s nothing that can be done for her.” Footsteps could soon be heard racing up the stairs and as the two elves prepared for another battle with orcs, they stopped to see that it was Bofur carrying some Athelas in his hand.
“Athelas,” Tauriel exhaled as she took it from him and admired it. “Athelas.”
“What are you doing?” Bofur asked nervously. Tauriel looked into the room before looking back at him and said.
“I’m going to save her.” Legolas’ eyes briefly narrowed.
“Tauriel…..”
“You may go if you wish Legolas, but I cannot leave the she-ranger to perish in such agony. Not whilst she still clings to life and that I now have her only salvation.” The young prince took a deep breath then exhaled.
“What would you have me do?” the two elves raced back inside and Tauriel ordered.
“I need water fast. Get her on a solid, stable surface. Lay her flat on her back.” Every in the room reacted quickly. Tilda gave Tauriel the bowl of water for her to mix the Athelas together, whilst Legolas and the Dwarves worked together to get (Y/n) on the table.
She was screaming and writhing in pure agony, her mouth starting to grow black with the poison.
“Where is the wound?” Legolas asked.
“Underneath her left elbow.” Oin said. Legolas took hold of her left wrist and raised her arm above. But when she tried to struggle, he was forced to also grab her forearm to pin it down and there he saw it. The black graze and he could see the infection had fully spread and blackened her entire elbow.
“Hold her down.” Tauriel said. Kili and Bofur held down her right leg while Bard’s children held down her left. Fili held (Y/n) by the shoulders and Oin helped Tauriel brew the medicine. Once it was brewed, Tauriel cut through the sleeve of (Y/n)’s shirt to get a better access to the wound.
The female ranger appearing like a rapid animal, screaming, grunting and thrashing about trying to free herself. Tauriel took some of the Athelas and began rubbing it onto her hands as she chanted.
“Menno o nin na hon i eliad annen annin, hon leitho o ngurth.” She then placed her hands over the ranger’s wound and (Y/n) let out an agonizing scream. Fili softly shushed her stroking through her hair and whispering in her ear all the while Tauriel kept chanting the spell.
Bit by bit, (Y/n)’s animalistic behavior quietened and then she went still. Her breathing now soft and not as frantic as it had been. Fili looked down at her worriedly and Kili asked.
“Will she be alright?”
“Athelas has powerful healing properties. With time and rest, she’ll regain her full strength. A few more minutes and she would’ve been beyond even with the aid of the Athelas.” Responded Tauriel. The dwarves and Bard’s children breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank you.” Fili said to Tauriel. She gave him a soft but tight smile as well as a soft nod. Then both she and Legolas left to deal with the orcs.
After her healing, Fili wrapped up (Y/n)’s wound with some bandages and kept vigil at her side. Never before had he felt so scared than he had felt at that moment. Fearing that the woman he had come to become fond of—nay love throughout this quest, he wouldn’t have known what to do had she been lost to him.
“She’ll be alright Fili. She’s strong, she’ll be back on her feet in no time.” His brother tried to assure him.
“I know. But seeing her go through all that pain, all that suffering, and who knows if she even knew she had been hit.”
“Even if she did, she’s got the stubbornness of a Dwarrowdam. Perfect woman for a guy like you.” Fili turned to his brother. “You may try to have hide it from the others but you can’t hide anything from me Fee. I’ve seen how you’ve been looking at her since Rivendell. You care for her more than just as a friend.” Fili sighed and looked down to her.
“I don’t even know how it happened. But after all that we’ve been through, seeing her in a—domestic way. The way she was with her younger cousin, the way the sunlight seemed to reflect off her hair, and the way her eyes shone like jewels in the dark. Kee……I feel as if she is my One.”
“And you should follow through that brother.”
“But would it work? A dwarf and a human? It’s never been done before?”
“Is that what’s really troubling you? Or is it that you fear she doesn’t feel the same way?” Fili remained quiet.
“This quest has shown me that life is too fragile. And at any moment, any one of us can be taken away by any means. I want to tell her my true feelings but—not now. Not while our lives are still in danger. Perhaps when we reach the mountain, I’ll work up the courage to tell her but I—”
“I understand brother. The turmoil that must’ve been stirring in your heart seeing her on death’s doorstep, if you had confessed your love for her beforehand and it be too late to save her……I can’t imagine the pain that would’ve been.”
“She’s too precious to me.” Fili said as he stroked her cheek with the back of his finger. “I feel like if she had died tonight, my heart would’ve died with her. My body may have continued to live on but my heart would never be full again.”
“Take comfort now that she’s alive and that she’s recovering. No more darkened thoughts need cloud your mind anymore.” Kili said as he placed a comforting hand on his brother’s shoulder, gently shaking it. Fili turned to his little brother and nodded giving him a soft smile.
“Thank you Kili. I know I’m supposed to be the older brother here but, I’m glad that you were here to be the one to ease my mind.”
“I’m always here for you brother, and I always will be. Together forever right?” he extended his other hand out.
“Together forever little brother.” Fili clasped his other hand with Fili’s as they pressed their foreheads together, drawing in each other’s strength.
*My POV*
All I remembered was darkness, as well as a voice reaching out for me. Then a bright light and soon silence. I don’t remember much after that but I do remember hearing Fili’s voice along with Kili’s.
“She’s too precious to me.” I felt something graze my cheek with the most gentlest touch. “I feel like if she had died tonight, my heart would’ve died with her. My body may have continued to live on but my heart would never be full again.”
So did Fili actually feel the same as I have come to feel for him? Oh Fili, I-I love you too. And I do hope that one day I can say that aloud, but for now I was just too weak to even open my eyes. I soon passed out once again but it wasn’t until the sound of giant wings flying towards us had me opening my eyes.
Smaug was coming for us. And he was out for blood.

Raspberry Leaves
Chapter 15
Thorin Oakenshield x AFAB!Reader
Summary: It's the morning after, and the long-dreaded visitor has finally made an appearance. Luckily, Thorin has just the cure. However, resuming the journey has forced you to wonder once again: What is this new relationship you share with Thorin, and how long will it last?
Warnings: no use of y/n, angst, 18+, NSFW, minors do not interact, mentions of menstruation, mentions of period sex (not described in much detail lol sorry), angst, allusion to breeding/pregnancy kink
Author's Note: I know this one took a while, so thank you so much for your patience! Life has been crazy lately with my job and writing my own book so I couldn't give this story as much of my attention as I'd like. However, I've already started on the next chapter and have plenty of fun things to come!
Word count: 1833
When morning comes, you wake up aching. An aching no longer only for Thorin, but because of him. You haven’t even moved a muscle and you can already feel the soreness between your legs. And not just between your legs. In your back, and low in your belly. Sharp contractions come in waves pulling you from a blissful sleep.
A telltale sign of what is to come. Your monthly pains have returned, no doubt thanks to Thorin’s steadfast dedication to keeping you fed and well nourished. For the first time in ages, you feel safe and cared for, which means your uterus is ready to riot.
With a groan you roll over onto your side, nuzzling deeper into Thorin’s warm chest. His breath hitches with the movement and you feel him start to stir beside you.
Still clinging to the haze of sleep you refuse to open your eyes just yet as strong arms wrap tighter around you. Maybe if you pretend to be asleep you won’t have to get back on the road just yet. Deep down you know as soon as you step out of this room everything will have to go back to normal. Save for a few knowing glances and snickers from Kili and Fili. You’ll pretend as if nothing has changed between the two of you and Thorin will do the same.
That’s the way you need it to be.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t hold onto this feeling for just a little while longer.
Thorin’s lips brush against your forehead, pressing a gentle kiss to your hairline.
“I know you’re awake,” he murmurs.
“Am not,” you insist, stifling a yawn. “I’m still asleep, and not at all sore.”
He chuckles softly, running his fingers through your hair splayed out across the pillow beneath you.
“Apologies,” his voice rumbling through his chest sends tingles down your spine. “I got a little carried away last night.”
“You should be, but it isn’t that,” reluctantly you reach a hand up to wipe the sleep from your eyes as you blink up at him. “If you hadn’t insisted on feeding me every chance you got I wouldn’t feel like someone’s using my womb for target practice.”
You can practically hear the gears turning in his head as he’s silent for a moment.
“Oh, I see,” he finally says with a laugh. His hand playing with your hair travels down your naked body to rest over your pelvis, his fingers gently pressing into the muscles of your angry uterus. The warmth of his hand is a soothing relief and you hum as he massages slow circles into your abdomen.
“Do you need anything?” he asks but you just shake your head.
“I have plenty of rags, I should be fine.”
The sun has started to stream through the dusty window above you. Dust particles float in the air as the light touches the worn floorboards. You both watch in a comfortable silence as the sun beams gradually shift from a gentle orange to a brighter yellow. “Most of the others will be up by now,” Thorin says and you stubbornly squeeze your eyelids shut again.
“Good for them,” you grumble, refusing to move just yet.
But despite your whines of protest, Thorin reluctantly slips from the bed with an apologetic kiss to your cheek.
“I’ll bring some breakfast and hot water to clean you up,” he says as he starts to pull his clothes back on. “You should start getting dressed.”
He disappears out the door before you can warn him not to get his hopes up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thorin does indeed return with food and hot water. And he’s not the least bit surprised to find you still in the same spot he left you, moments away from falling back asleep.
He knows better than to try and argue with you in this state, so instead he just pulls back the covers and runs a warm, wet rag along your inner thighs to clean up the sticky mess.
Despite his urgency to get back on the road soon, he manages to get side tracked while his hands are already between your legs. And within minutes he has you writhing and moaning atop the mattress, now very much awake and wet for a completely different reason.
“I do believe you’ve finally found the best relief for menstrual pain,” you tell him breathlessly as you begin dressing yourself.
“Second best,” he corrects you with a grunt as he shoves the rest of your scattered things into your respective bags.
You lift a brow at him in confusion, tossing him his shirt you slept in to swap it out for one of your own. As comfortable as it is, wearing it the rest of the day would be as good as announcing to the rest of the company that you and Thorin were intimate the night before.
Thorin catches the shirt, his eyes locked on yours as he says: “you can’t bleed if your belly is already full with a child.”
Then he goes back to packing like he didn’t just drop a metaphorical boulder on your head, causing your core to clench in an entirely different way.
“What did you say?” your voice comes out as a squeak as you clutch your shirt to your bare chest.
He rises to his feet, towering over you as he takes a step closer, his scent overpowering your lungs as a chill runs down your spine.
“You heard me,” his voice rumbles low in his chest. “And I would if you asked.”
“What?” you blink up at him, your mind too cloudy to think straight.
“If you asked me,” he brings a hand to your bare arm, tracing his fingers across your skin, “I would give you a child. My child. I’d fill you with my seed until I was sure it took, so you’d never bleed again.”
Your mouth opens and closes a few times. You can’t think, let alone form a coherent sentence at his implication. But before you can settle on anything to say, a knock comes from the door.
Neither of you move, maintaining unblinking eye contact, until the knocking gets more persistent.
Thorin finally breaks away from you, suppressing a knowing smirk at your shocked expression. Finally snapping out of your daze as he moves towards the door, you quickly pull on your shirt as he undoes the lock.
“What is it?” he grunts, pulling the door open just enough that you can see Kili standing in the hallway with his hands covering his eyes.
“Are you both decent?” he asks and Thorin rolls his eyes.
“If we say no will you leave?” you finish pulling the rest of your clothes on as Kili hazards a peek through his fingers. Seeing you both fully clothed and on opposite sides of the room he lets out an exaggerated sigh of relief.
“The rest of the company is ready,” he informs the two of you and Thorin grunts in understanding before looking over his shoulder at you. With a nod you grab your pack, tossing Thorin’s to him as well. “We’re ready.” You push past the two of them, heading for the stairs to rejoin the others.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You remain silent for most of the day's journey. Thorin’s words continue bouncing around in your mind.
Did he really mean what he said? Or was he just joking? You can’t tell which you want to be true. Heat rushes to your cheeks at the image of him dripping down your thighs, only for him to scoop his seed back inside you, so as to not waste a single drop.
But then the more logical side of you kicks in, and you think about what comes after. You, pregnant with Thorin’s child. His heir. If the two of you were anyone else it wouldn’t seem so crazy. But that’s not the case.
He’s a king, marching to reclaim his kingdom.
And you’re… you. You might come from a good family but you’re still only half a dwarf. As soon as your quest is complete you’ll be setting out on the road again. Once your family is laid to rest there will be nothing left keeping you in Erebor. It will no longer be your home and you will be destined to continue wandering Middle Earth for as long as there is still breath in your lungs.
Besides, even if Thorin suffered from a bout of temporary insanity and asked you to stay there would be no point. He’s not your childhood friend anymore. That dwarven prince was lost to you long ago. He has a duty to fulfill, and you have…well whatever you want.
And what you want is definitely not to be a king’s whore. You refuse to be the plaything he keeps poorly hidden in the shadows of the mountain.
You are too uncivilized to be his queen, and too prideful to be his mistress so this thing between you will only end as badly as it did the last time you parted ways.
The rest of the company must sense your inner turmoil today because none of them bother you once you continue back on the main road. Either that or Thorin already warned them about the return of your monthly visitor. The Dwarves take turns silently handing you snacks when you start to feel irritable. And when you stop to make camp for the night, Oin boils some raspberry leaves he picked to brew into a tea for you to sip by the fire.
The others are in much better spirits after a good night’s rest. As you wrap yourself in a blanket, clutching your tea at the edge of the fire’s glow, the others talk and laugh jovially. Even Thorin joins in, swapping stories with your kin. He’s in a much better mood than you’ve seen him in since… well ever. His scowl has been replaced with hearty laughter and a grin that lights up his face. Every so often he glances over at you as if he needs to keep assuring himself that you’re still close by.
You give him a small smile of reassurance but still can’t bring yourself to join the rest of the group. The tea Oin brewed has helped ease your cramps, and the rest of the company has already ensured that you’ve more than eaten your fill for the evening. But it’s not pain or fatigue that keeps you from joining in.
As the fire illuminates him before you, an ache builds in your chest. An ache so strong you can’t suppress it any longer. Just because you know how this journey has to end, it doesn’t stop you from wishing things could go differently. It only makes it that much more painful when you realize Thorin is starting to look at you the same way he did before the dragon came. Like nothing in all of Middle Earth could separate the two of you.

I Think I’m Gonna Be Sick (Kili x GN!Reader)
You sit quietly at the table trying to take in all the information. “Why do I have to go?” You ask sounding more scared than you’d like. Thraduils face remains unreadable so you look over at Legolas for answers.
“It’s time for you to go find your roots. It’s the perfect time. It’s a new start for everyone .” He explains with a sad smile. Legolas had found you in the forests of Greenwood when you were a baby and had demanded that Thranduil let you stay. How he did that is beyond you as you are very obviously a dwarf, but he did and you had grown up in the palace with Legolas as your father figure. That is what had led up to this current moment. Thranduil had just informed you that the king of the newly reclaimed kingdom of Erebor had agreed to let you come live there and that his sister would be coming to bring you to your new home in a month. You aren’t sure what to say. “You know that I love you more than anything. It’s because I do that this has been agreed upon. You are a dwarf and you deserve a chance to learn about your people.”
“They aren’t my people! You are! I’ve never known another dwarf. All I know is Greenwood and Rivendale and Lothlorien! I am home!” You cry looking desperately between Legolas and Thranduil
“This is your home and always will be, but you know that you need this. You can feel it in your bones.” Thranduil finally says and you hate that he’s right.
“Think of it as being a diplomat. You can forge a better relationship between the elves and the dwarves. You can always come home. Don’t ever doubt that. I just want you to try.” Legolas looks heartbroken but he is firm in his words. You let out a shaky breath and nod.
“She’s coming in a month?” You ask. They both nod and wait expectantly for your response.
“I’ll try. For Greenwood.” You say after some more thought. Legolas hugs you tightly. You struggle to come to terms with what your life will be in a month, but you know you need to try. Maybe this will settle that restless part of yourself. “I’ll need to start studying khuzdul. I don’t think elvish will do me much good there.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Are you ready?” Legolas asks softly.
“As I’ll ever be.” You sigh watching as the last trunk is carried out of your room. Legolas rushes forward and hugs you tightly.
“You’ll always have a home here, but please try your best.” He whispers. You stifly nod as you wrap your arms around him. After a moment he pulls back and leads you out of your room and to the throne room. As the doors slowly open you see a woman about your height looking around impatiently.
“Lady Dis please understand I’m just as ready as you are for you to leave.” Thranduil sighs from his throne. “Ah, there they are.” The woman, lady Dis, quickly whips around and smiles at you brightly.
“Hello dear. I’m Dis. It’s so wonderful to meet you.” Her kindness throws you off. While you are a dwarf, you were raised with elves so you expected some sort of resistance from her. She makes her way to you and pulls you into a tight hug. “We’ll be leaving once you’ve said your good byes. Take your time.” You can’t do anything but nod. You make your way over to the throne and look up at Thranduil.
“Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful home.” You finally get out. Your eyes are watery and you have to fight to keep your voice level. Thranduil cracks the smallest smile and nods.
“I hope you find what you’ve been looking for.” You smile back and nod. Next your go over to Legolas for one last hug.
“I’ll miss you so much.” You whisper.
“We’ll always be here for you.” He whispers back. After a moment you let go and walk over to lady Dis. She gives you a kind smile and with one last glance at the only family you’ve ever known, you follow her out the door and to your next great adventure.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You feel yourself being softly shaken and slowly open your eyes. “We’re here.” Dis says with a large smile. “Welcome to Erebor.” You quickly move to look out the window of the carriage and are shocked at what you see. Dis was the first dwarf you’d ever met and now you’re looking out at a sea of them. “I’ll take you to your room and you can freshen up then I’ll take you to meet Thorin.” All you can do is nod as you continue to look around.
Once the doors to your new room close behind you you flop down on the bed. “You got this. You’ll do great. No pressure. You’re just about to meet Thranduil's sworn enemy. No pressure.” You mutter to yourself. You take a moment to pull yourself together before you do as Dis said and get ready to meet Thorin.
When you’re ready you poke your head out the door. There’s no one in the hallway except for a blonde dwarf. You can’t help but smile at the beaded braids that hang next to his mouth. Elves don’t have facial hair so you couldn’t help but think his was odd, but it fit him. “Hello. I’m Fili, crown prince of Erebor. My mother had something to attend to, so I will be taking you to meet my uncle.” His smile is just as kind as his mothers. You silently follow his through the halls trying to remember any land marks to help you feel a little less lost. “What do you think?” He asks, noticing your careful examination.
“It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It’s beautiful.” You could never have imagined that Erebor would be like this. It was breathtaking.
“You can see why we fought so hard to get it back.” All you can do is nod. “I hope you will grow to see it as a home.” He gives you another soft smile and stops in front of a large set of doors. He pushes them open and your eye immediately go to the dwarf on the throne. All the nerves hit you at once. You shakily curtsy once your reach the bottom on the steps that the thrown is at the top of.
“Yo-your majesty.” Your words are scarcely more than a whisper.
“So this is the dwarf raised by elves.” Well he’s certainly not one to beat around the bush. “Welcome to Erebor and welcome home.” You bite back the words that this is not in fact your home and it may never be, but you know better than to say that to Thorin.
“Thank you for allowing me to come live in your kingdom. I know that the relationship between elves and dwarves is not the best, but I hope to help better it.” Thorin stiffly nods and leans over to say something to a dwarf sitting next to him. The dwarf in question appears shell shocked, but quickly composes himself and jumps up making his way over to you.
“Prince Kili at your service.” He says with a wide smile. “I’ll take it from here Fi.” Fili nods and sends you a kind smile before walking to Thorin. “I’ll be your tour guide around Erebor and your main tutor to help you learn Khuzdul.” All you can do is nod. Your heart feels like its stopped and restarted ten times faster. Maybe all the change is too much and you’re dying. No, that can’t be it. The feeling is oddly pleasant. You suddenly feel as if everything will be ok. You don’t think you’ve ever known a calm like this. Kili pulls you out of your thoughts with a clap of his hands. “Right. Let’s get going. There’s lots to see.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“And this is the market. You will mostly find things made in the mountain or from Dale.” You nod at Kili's words and continue to look around wide eyed.
“It’s magnificent!” You practically run to a nearby stall with intricate beads proudly displayed on the table.
“Do you know what these ones are for?” He asks with a big grin. You shake your head no as you carefully pick one up. “They’re courting beads. You gift them at the beginning of a courtship and put them at the end of the braid you put in each others hair. Usually you hand make them yourself, but not always” You can’t help the soft smile that makes its way onto your face.
“What a beautiful custom.” There’s a strange pang of longing in your heart that twists when you look at Kili. You must have made a face because Kilis expression shifts from one of pride to one of concern.
“Are you alright?” He asks softly as he places a hand on your shoulder.
“I uhhh I think the day is starting to catch up with me. Would it be alright if I went and rested?” Kili quickly nods and begins to lead you out of the market.
“Of course. I’ll take you back to your chambers and you can rest until dinner.” You smile at him gratefully and follow him through the winding halls of the mountain. Once you arrived at your room Kili gave you a blinding smile and said he’d see you at dinner. All you could do was nod.
“It must be all the change. Erebor is rather different than Greenwood.” You mutter to yourself as you shuffle across your room to lay down. You heave a sigh and stare at the ceiling in your room. “Day one of being a full fledged dwarf is almost over…”
Unbeknownst to you Kili was practically dancing down the hallway on his way to find Fili. When he finally does he breaks out into a sprint and practically tackles his brother. “They’re my One!” He whisper screeches shaking Fili by the shoulders.
“What?” Fili asks trying to get out of his brothers grip.
“They’re my One! Can you believe it?” Fili looks at Kili confused for a second before it clicks and a wide grins breaks out on his face.
“What did they say?”
“Well nothing yet. I think they think they’re ill.” Kili shrugs.
“They think they’re ill?” Fili asks slowly.
“It makes sense they wouldn’t know what a One is, they were raised by elves after all.”
“What are you going to do?” Fili has never seen Kili happier as they make their way to their rooms to prepare for dinner.
“Obviously we’re going to get married.” Kili says with a love sick sigh.
“Before that. You said they think they’re ill.” Kili waves Fili off surprisingly unbothered by the fact that you could be interpreting your tie to him as an illness.
“No need to worry brother, just start writing your speech for the wedding.” Kili practically skips ahead of Fili who can only shake his head with a fond smile on his face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s been six months since you arrived in Erebor and the adjustment has been smoother than you expected. You’ve picked up Khuzdul fairly well and are no longer so lost in the mountain. You are currently seated at the desk in your room writing a response to your most recent letter from Legolas. While you miss Greenwood and your elven family dearly, you are happy to let them know you’re adjusting to well to life in the Lonely Mountain. You’re pulled from your thoughts when you head a knock on the door. “Come in!” You call setting your quill down.
“Hello dear.” You quickly make your way across the room and hug Dis.
“To what do I owe the honor of your visit?” Dis holds a book out to you.
“A gift. It’s a book of dwarven fairy tales. I read it to Fili and Kili when they were little. Kili was actually the one who recommended it when I said I wanted to give you a gift.” You take the book into your hands and run your fingers along the intricate designs stamped into the cover.
“Thank you!” You gasp. “It’s beautiful. Thank you so much!” You say louder.
“Of course my dear. Being with us for half a year is an event deserving of a gift.” The two of you exchange smiles and another hug before Dis has to leave for a meeting. You’re quick to curl up in a chair and flip to the first story.
A few hours of you slowly reading the Khuzdul on the pages pass before there’s another knock on your door but you're so engrossed in the book you don’t notice. “There you are!” Your hand flies to your chest as you let out a scream.
“Kili why would you do that?” You hiss as he has the nerve to laugh.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. You missed lunch so I brought you some food. What’s got you so entranced?” He asks leaning over your shoulder to look at the book in your hands. “I see mom gave you her gift. What do you think?”
“They’re so different from the stories Legolas read me as a child I can’t wrap my head around it.” Kili smiles proudly and puffs out his chest. “There’s some parts I don’t understand tho.”
“I’m sure I can help explain it. What’s got you confused?” He takes a seat on the arm of the chair you’re sat in.
“Well first off the stories keep mentioning finding your One.” You point to a sentence on the page and when you look up at Kili he has an odd look on his face. Before you can ask what’s wrong he begins to speak.
“Your One is your other half. The one that Mahal put here to complete you. To find your One is to find unending peace and happiness. Finding your One is finding home.” Something in your heart twists at Kilis words.
“That sounds wonderful.” You whisper, staring at Kili. It feels like the world has stopped as the two of you stare at each other. Without thinking you both start to lean in. Your faces are inches apart when the book slips out of your lap and slams closed on the floor jolting you out of the moment. You awkwardly clear your throat while Kili looks like he’s trying to burn the book with his glare. “I umm I mean uhh yo-you said you brought lunch right? I don’t think I have any more questions so why don’t we eat?” Kili nods and quickly moves to set up the food on a nearby table.
The two of you eat in silence for a while before Kili clears his throat. “So, it’s been half a year. What do you think of Erebor?” He asks
“It’s nothing like what I imagined. The way dwarves live is so different from elves, but still so beautiful. It was odd at first to be around so many people like me, I mean I was the only dwarf I know for most of my life…” you trail off as you reflect on just how different the Lonely Mountain is from Greenwood and how much your life has changed.
“I’m uhhh I’m glad your not feeling ill anymore. I know how worried you were about it for the first few months.” He says after a moment.
“Ohhh ri-right. Yeah I’m feeling much better.” You try to smile but you think you probably look like you’re dying. Truth be told the odd feelings never went away, but as time went on they turned into a feeling of calm and safety so you stopped saying anything. “Kili, can I ask you a question?”
“Anything.” He says immediately with a big smile.
“Have you found your One? Do you know what it feels like?” His smile grows impossibly wider at your words.
“I have. It felt like my insides were exploding in the best way. I couldn’t breathe. It was like I hadn’t really been alive until then. In that first moment I knew that they have my heart in their hand and all I wanted to do was let them know.” His eyes have a look in them that you’ve never seen before. “I met them months ago and it still feels the exact same every time I see them.” Something in you shifts in a way that makes you feel like you’ve been stabbed in the chest. You look away from Kili and try to compose yourself.
“That’s wonderful.” You finally get out. As you bring your eyes back to Kili you can see the battle being waged behind his eyes. He takes a deep breath and nods to himself
“I’d really love for you to meet them.” Those words plunge the knife deeper into your chest.
“Who am I to say no to a prince of Erebor?” You try to laugh but it tastes bitter in your mouth.
“Tonight after dinner. Meet me in my room.” He stands so quickly it flings his chair back. Your eyes widen in surprise and all you can do is nod. “Great! I’ll see you then!” Without another word Kili is out the door and down the hall.
Kili has his One. This is something you should be happy about. He just told you how wonderful having your One is. So why does thinking about it make you wish you’d never come to Erebor?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dinner comes and goes far too fast for your liking and now you find yourself outside Kilis room. You debate running away to your room and never coming out, but Kili is your friend and he was so excited for you to meet them. You can’t ditch him. With that thought you knock on his door. “Come in!” You can hear the excitement in his voice.
You slowly push the door open and find Kili in the middle of his room. Alone. “Have I come too early?” You ask as you continue to look around the room for another person. Kili says nothing and sets to the side to reveal something behind him covered in a sheet. He wordlessly motions for you to move the sheet. “Kili if this is another of you and Filis pranks I will snitch to your mother.” You warn as you shakily reach out for the sheet. As you pull it away you close your eyes and flinch back moving your hands to cover your face. After a moment of nothing you open your eyes a see a full length mirror.
“Meet my One.” Kili says softly. You step closer to the mirror confused.
“Is this a dwarf thing I don’t know about?” Kili laughs. “Why are you laughing? What’s going on Kili?”
“It’s you. Your my One. I’ve known it since the moment I first saw you.” Your speech less for a moment before a huge isgh of relief leaves you.
“Oh thank Mahal I’m not sick!” You say as the feeling of dread you’d been carrying lifted. Kili shakes his head fondly.
“No you’re not sick. Just in love.” He has that look in his eyes again and you’re pretty sure yours mirror it.
“Just in love.” You repeat. Kili takes hold of you hand and places something in it. When you open your hand you see a small intricately designed bead in it.
“I made it in the weeks after we first met.”
“Kili are you asking to court me?” You tease.
“I’m asking you to marry me one day.” He corrects with a proud smile on his face. You take a seat on the chair by his desk.
“Well then get braiding.” You didn’t know someone could smile so big until you see the one on Kilis face. “I can’t wait to tell Legolas.” You sigh happily as Kili begins braiding.
When he’s done you examine the braid before pulling him into an excited kiss. “Just in love.” You murmur happily when you pull away. Kili kisses your forehead before leading you toward the door to his room.
“We have to tell Fi! And amad! And uncle!” He cheers as he pulls you out of the room and towards his brothers. In that moment you decide that you love living in Erebor.
↳ ❝ Hi can I request the prompt "It ain't home without you" with fili please? ❞
: ̗̀➛ It's your job to protect him and to keep him alive, but it isn't your job to worm your way into his heart.
•───────────────★•♛•★──────────────•
It was a lonely and cold night, and unable to get warm enough in your spot at the edge of the camp, you settled for instead heading over to the small fire where Fili was sat; in the moonlight, his pretty blue eyes looked electric.
Alight with thousands of stars that you could not see, and aflame with the soft crackling fire as it reflected the orange and yellow hues.
You sighed as you sat beside him, shuffling forward slightly so that you could rest your head on his lap; gazing up at him as he flinched for a moment at the sudden contact.
But he soon settled, relaxing and letting his hand drift to your forehead as he felt the soft head radiating from your skin. Of all of the Company, you were closest to Fili without a single doubt.
You had been with the Company since the beginning, hired by Gandalf to protect Fili and Kili and to ensure that the two brothers survived everything that was thrown at them; but what you had never expected was that you would end up becoming rather attached to one of the brothers, and that every time you looked into his beautiful eyes, you would feel like you were finally home.
You shifted around a little, almost nuzzling into his stomach as you got comfortable against him; Fili didn’t mind, although he couldn’t help but to smile.
He knew that you had a reputation to uphold, after all, you were famous throughout Middle Earth - from the Shire through to Rohan - for being essentially fearless.
A warrior so strong, you had fought in many wars, and had been decorated by your King accordingly; those who bore white flags with red crosses were terrified of you, and would cower at the mere mention of your name.
They knew who you were; the warrior with the red dragon on their breastplate and the sword made of dragon bones. The warrior who spoke a language older than Elvish, and who would stop at nothing to defend his homeland from those who carried the white banner with the red cross upon it.
The warrior who spoke the dragon’s tongue, and who had charmed their way into Fili’s heart so easily.
Fili knew your reputation, but he also knew Thorin’s words about you, as they echoed in his head every time you were close.
“Be careful of that one, those who sell their swords sell their souls along with it.”
But you weren’t like that, Fili knew that. You accepted the job because you owed Gandalf a favour, and that was all. You didn’t sell your sword at all, you were hired to fulfil the end of a favour.
That was all, and you made it incredibly clear that you would never accept another job offer of the same or similar calibre again.
But Fili’s uncle’s words weighed heavily upon his shoulders, even if you did feel like home every time you were close to him; even if the soft warmth of your forehead felt the same as coming home to a familiar bed.
He knew, though, nothing could or would ever come of it.
You wriggled a little, humming softly to yourself for a moment. “Fili?”
He nodded, a soft thrum coming from the very back of his throat as he lazily looked down at you. “Yes?”
“Is it odd that I feel like it ain’t home without you?” You asked quietly, all but twiddling your thumbs as you stared up at him so gently, your gaze all too soft on him.
But he shook his head, daring to lick his lips as he tilted his head slightly to the side. “No… in all honesty and truth, I can’t help but to feel the same - I feel as if the softest of touches from you is the same as coming back to my own bed.”
You could only smile as you let out a quiet yawn, stretching ever so slightly. “And what about your uncle? Thorin doesn’t exactly seem all that keen on me.”
Fili shrugged as he dared to smile back, slowly shaking his head. “Allow me to handle Thorin. I can deal with him, I can convince him that you are not what he thinks you are.”
You frowned a little, swallowing thickly and hoping that he didn’t see how you were struggling to get through to it. “But how confident in that are you, exactly?”
“Very,” Fili nodded, daring to grin at you as he gently stroked your cheek. “As long as you are my home, I will be yours, and I will do everything I can to convince my uncle that we belong together.”
Struggling to sit up, you rolled your eyes when he laughed at your efforts before pulling you onto his lap; letting you straddle his waist as he rested his hands on your thighs and tilted his head to the side, humming ever so softly. Gently, he ran his hands up and down your thighs.
“Tell me that I am yours,” he whispered softly. “And I will tell you that you are mine.”
You nodded, clasping your hands behind his neck as you stared at his mouth for a moment. Your voice coming out as a mere whisper. “I am all yours, Fili.”
“And I am yours,” he murmured gently, his hands trailing up so that one rested on your middle and the other rested at the back of your neck. All too tempted to pull you in closer. “Always.”
“Always,” you repeated. “Are you sure you don’t want my help with confronting Thorin?”
Fili nodded slowly, licking his lips as his gaze dropped to your mouth. “I might need you to keep me alive.”
“That’s my job,” you laughed gently. “Isn’t it?”
He laughed along for a moment, but when you leaned in slightly, he could not help but to close the distance. His kiss was so soft and tender, and when you kissed him back, you could not deny: you were home.
Kili x Elf Reader
Summary: While the days were going very calmly and peacefully in Rivendell, the visit of the dwarves accompanied by Gandalf interrupted this. However, over time, you begin to get close to a certain dwarf.
As you followed Lord Elrond and Gandalf, you smiled at their little banter about 'dressing appropriately'. While they were settling down at the table, you walked over to your cousin Lindir and gently clasped your hands in front of you. "Your face looks like you're in pain..." you said loud enough for him to hear. He glanced at you briefly. “It's not wrong… I'm just… wondering how this would turn out.” You wanted to laugh at his attitude but you didn't, yet you couldn't help but try. "I honestly expected better from you, your expression is still a bit soft. Try not to waste yourself too much." You gave a small smile as he shifted uneasily.
You watched the surroundings, or rather the dwarves, throughout the meal. You weren't very familiar with them, so you wanted to observe. In any case, it was not difficult to predict that things would explode at some point. They were quite rambunctious… in one word, attenuated.
You were talking softly with Lindir, at this moment you came face to face with one of them. It was obvious that he was much younger than the others. When you didn't look away for a while, he smiled at you and then winked. You were amazed at first by his bold attitude, but then you reminded yourself that he was a dwarf. Of course it would happen. He looked surprised when you went beyond your limits and gave him a small smile. He never thought that you would respond to him, especially after a few unsuccessful attempts... Your sensitive ears had heard his conversations with his friends, which were louder gossip than they thought anyway.
At some point things really broke out. Suddenly all hell broke loose, a food fight broke out between them, accompanied by the dwarf who climbed onto the table and sang. You'd never admit it, but it seemed kind of fun. Poor Lindir's horrified expression amused you even more, and you almost laughed, but held yourself back again.
As you were about to turn around, you froze in place as a piece of food hit your chest. The front of your light-colored dress and the curls hanging down the sides of your face were stuck. There were some dwarves who noticed this. One of them was that young dwarf...
His eyes were wide open and confused as he looked at you. Embarrassment... that's what happened and he was definitely the one who accidentally threw that food at you. You left there with Lindir. You quickly went to your room and cleaned up.
You did not meet the young dwarf for the next two days. At some point you realized he was running away from you.
The next day, after doing your work, you went out to the balcony, the sun was setting. You leaned your hands on the railing and began to watch the view you always see.
Just then, you heard a pair of footsteps. It was definitely not an elf. You slowly turned and looked.
It was that young dwarf. You saw him looking at you with the same embarrassment. You were the one to break the silence, "Your name is Kili, right?" He nodded and agreed. “Yeah, that's me… well…” you then gave him your name and added, “What are you doing here?” He took a few more small steps towards you. "I owe you an apology... I'm sorry. For what happened at dinner. I swear I didn't do it on purpose... I- believe me, it happened by mistake." He arranged the words one after another. You weren't actually really angry, you knew it was a mistake. You had incredible patience and were not easily angered. You were calm again now, but your facial expression was not that soft. This made him even more nervous. "I have a condition." He jumped right in, "Sure, whatever you want."
"Tell me your story, from the beginning. Where did you come from? What have you done? Where are you going? What will happen next? I have heard some things, but I want to hear it from a dwarf myself, I must know it all. Maybe then I will forgive you for what you have done, young dwarf." The nervous look on Kili's face was gone, replaced by a smile. You gave a small smile and invited him over. You sat together and started talking while watching the view. He literally told you everything he could think of. You listened to him with interest. You made occasional comments and laughed at some of his jokes. It was almost night when you were there. You lost track of time, but it was the first time in a long time that you enjoyed it like this. The same was true for Kili. He watched you while talking. You were so perfect... in fact, you were the most beautiful being he had ever seen. He had flirted with many women throughout his life, he had seen many women, but you... you were completely different. The moment he saw you he was speechless, almost choking on his own saliva. No one could fault the beauty of the elves walking around, but you were on a different level. So much so that you were considered one of the most beautiful elves.
Kili fell in love with you even more that night. He was the kind of guy who fell hard. You caused him to fall seriously hard. He made some flirting attempts when he dared. He was trying you. You also gave him small feedback. It was unclear whether this would go anywhere, but you went with the moment. You've been living for centuries, and by now, of course, some people came your way, but you never went forward with any of them or allowed yourself to be courted. You thought you had more time for this. Maybe one day it would... but after you met Kili, you started to realize things about yourself. Were you falling in love with this dwarf? Some thoughts began to haunt your mind and continued as the days progressed.
You both started meeting on the same balcony at night. Almost every day for two weeks. But you knew it would end because he had to go and they didn't have much time left. The day of Durin was approaching.
You walked to the balcony and paused at the entrance. Kili was standing by the fountain, looking at himself in the reflection of the water pooling below. You had noticed that he often played with his hair and face. But it wasn't like arrogance, it was more like insecurity. You directed your steps towards him. "You may have a sweet face, but such arrogance hits hard." There was a hint of mischief in your voice. Kili jumped when you spoke, startled. "Oh! Mahal!" Then he quickly recovered and smiled at you. "Did I ever mention that you float almost like an angel? Do your feet touch the ground?" You giggled happily as you approached him. "I didn't mean to scare you, I'm sorry."
"No, you didn't." in a mischievous manner. You laughed.
Then a silence fell and as the silence fell you were looking at each other. Instinctively, you slowly reached out your hand to the strand of hair that fell in front of Kili's eyes and combed it to the side with your fingers. Even this small movement caused Kili's breathing to hitch. He swallowed. It was you again who broke the silence, "They need to be shortened a bit. They cover your face." He barely heard what you said at the time, in fact it only sounded like a mumble.
"You are so beautiful... flawless. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life." he said softly. He seemed fascinated. You looked absolutely ethereal as the starlight reflected on your face, illuminating your pure white skin, full pink lips, and long dark curls. You looked like you came out of the most beautiful fairy tales and Kili was fascinated by your appearance. His eyes were pensive and he was watching you with admiration. For a moment he thought he was in a dream, in fact he felt that way most of the time he spent with you because you were too wonderful to be real to him. Your beauty, your kindness, your deep and velvety voice, your awe-filled gaze... At the same time, your knowledge and experience gained over the centuries you lived, your advice and stories were interesting. He lost himself in you. He was becoming more certain with every second he looked at you.
He had fallen in love with you.
What you heard had filled your heart with excitement, and those looks you received had increased it even more. There was something much different in those eyes now... more serious. Yes, Kili was a fun guy and you had definitely seen similar things in him, but this time it was different. The rhythm of his heartbeat changed.
“Kili…” you mumbled his name softly… soon Kili slowly pulled away, looking away from you. You frowned slightly, trying to understand. "Please talk to me."
Kili was so caught up in all these moments that he forgot the facts. You couldn't love him... how could you? Such a perfect and immortal being had no business being with an ugly - by dwarf standards - dwarf like him. Yes, he was incorrigibly flirtatious and outgoing, but deep down, his self-confidence was sometimes slipping. By dwarf standards he was considered ugly, he didn't have a proper beard and he certainly couldn't grow it, and his hair wasn't long enough. He didn't have as much hair on his body as there should have been. He wanted to be like his brother and uncle, but it was impossible, he could never be like them. Any woman would never be with someone who wasn't masculine enough, right? You wouldn't like it either.
He thought so, but he didn't realize how wrong he was. "You can never love me... why would you? I have nothing to love... I don't even have enough beard. I'm a hopeless person..." sentences suddenly came out of Kili's mouth. He looked at you, realizing what he said. You even thought it was cute that he could make such a simple thing such a big problem with his childish attitude, but of course, from his point of view, this was a serious thing. Well, this was normal for his young age.
He was about to get up, but you held his arm with a gentle smile on your face. "Oh Kili... you're so naive. Did you really think I would make a problem with this? I'm not a dwarf or a human. The things that bother you about yourself are not for me." He looked at you confused and thought about what you said for a while. Then you added again, "I'm an elf, and the things you mentioned don't apply in elven culture. But either way... you're beautiful just the way you are." You reached out your hand and placed it on his cheek. “You are so beautiful… in everything. I swear.”
Kili's eyes filled with tears at your attitude. He had never heard such things from anyone before, except his mother. But that didn't really count. He watched as his wet eyes found yours, he knew you wouldn't lie to him. Maybe someone else would make fun of him feeling such intense things and developing a sense of confidence in such a short time, it might seem like nonsense, but it wasn't like that. He trusted you and you always approached him with all your sincerity. He closed his eyes and leaned into your soft touch. He could stay like this forever and never complain. You gently caressed the side of his head with your thumb.
In some moments words were not necessary, you could only find peace in silence. It was exactly like that right now. There was no need for words. There was peace.
You and him.
Just the two of you.
The distance between the two of you was closing with each passing second and finally, as your eyes closed, both of your lips slowly met. His hand found your soft hand. Kiss was full of tenderness. You were as close to each other as possible. You both broke the kiss to catch your breath as your lips burned like fire. Foreheads met.
Kili whispered against your lips, "Amrâlimê"
And you whispered, "Meleth nîn"
I tried something new. Writing a Middle Earth story about young Fili and Kili and Uncle Thorin. I was inspired by this amazing piece of art by @sugarsu Here is the link to the original post. If you like the artwork, please consider reblogging the original post as well.
In the woods of Ered Luin
Summary: Uncle Thorin is taking care of young Fili and Kili and they visit the woods in the area of Ered Luin, The Blue Mountains. Just a lot of fluff and a somewhat anxious Thorin at times, but we all know the boys, so we can't really blame him 😉
divider created by me
It was still early, but Fili and Kili had already been running around since their eyes had opened to a beautiful day in Ered Luin. Dis and Thorin were sitting at the kitchen table, quietly drinking their coffee and listening to the chatter and laughter of the boys. Thorin usually didn’t have a lot of time, so he valued these family moments very much.
Thorin had offered to spend the day with his little nephews. His dear sister Dis had gratefully accepted the offer and looked forward to having some time to herself. But as soon as Thorin had offered to take the boys, next to excitement a little pang of fear hit him. What mayhem would he encounter this fine day? Nothing ever did not happen, something always did.
Thorin mustered up his courage and got up to fetch the boys. When he saw a heap of pebbles, blankets, pillows and a cat on top of it, he wondered what had happened in the few minutes he had taken his eyes off of them. Shaking his head, he said, 'Come on boys, get your coats, put on your boots.’
The heap of blankets, pillows, pebbles and cat immediately came apart and two pairs of eyes looked at him questioningly. 'Where are we going uncle Thorin?' they asked.
“You’ll see. Now come on, get ready,’ he told them.
Not long after, they entered the forest near the Blue Mountains. It was a beautiful day so far, but the big furry clouds in the distance promised some well deserved rain for the plants and wildlife in the forest. The leaves were softly rustling in the breeze, birds were chirping and singing, insects buzzing. The forest was so full of life, yet so peaceful.
Kili was jumping and running around. There was so much to see. Flowers, plants, little rocks, insects. Thorin smiled. That boy never seemed to run out of energy. Fili was usually much more reserved and quiet. He was walking alongside Thorin, observing the woods, asking him all kinds of questions and Thorin was answering them patiently.
‘What animals will we see today uncle Thorin?’ Fili asked. ‘Will there be moose? And wolves? What about bunnies? Oh look, uncle Thorin, what kind of bird is that?’ his little fingers pointing at a bird with a bright red chest, singing its morning song on one the branches of a big oak tree.
Thorin cringed at the idea of encountering a wolf and the pebbles being in danger, but he didn’t have a lot of time to think about it, for Kili came running up to him.
‘Look uncle Thorin, look what I have!’ he exclaimed enthusiastically. He was holding something in his tiny hands, careful not to drop it. Thorin crouched down. ‘What have you got there little man?’
Kili opened his little hands and a black spider crawled out. ‘You can have it uncle Thorin,’ he said proudly and with a big grin on his face. ‘I fetched it for you.’
Oh dear, how to get himself out of that situation.
‘I think the spider is …,’ he started
‘Ciaran’, Kili said.
‘What?’ Thorin looked at Kili, confused.
‘It’s name is Ciaran,’ Kili explained.
Thorin raised his eyebrows at that and scratched his beard. Wow, he had only just found the spider and it already had a name as if it were part of the family and needed to be taken up in the Durin family tree.
The new addition to the line of Durin was quickly forgotten though, when a rustle of leaves alerted Thorin and he looked in the direction of the sound. The word ‘wolves’ still fresh in his mind, he grabbed Kili and told him to be quiet. He checked on Fili, who was crouching down beside Thorin, imitating his uncle and all three of them looked in the direction of the moving bushes nearby.
A little spooked by Fili’s question about wolves, Thorin wished that he had brought his sword. He held his breath, but he sighed with relief when a deer and a fawn appeared and not a big bad wolf.
‘Oh look uncle Thorin,’ Kili pointed at the fawn, ‘A baby deer! Can we go pet it?’ he asked excitedly.
‘No, Kili,’ Thorin said, ‘They are erm … having breakfast. It’s best to leave them be.’
Kili sighed disappointedly and Thorin chuckled.
‘Come on boys, let’s go about our way. There is a stream not far from here.’
That also got Fili excited and both pebbles ran ahead, their chatter and laughter echoing between the trees. It warmed Thorin 's heart to see them so excited and happy. With a smile on his face, he followed his nephews in the direction of the stream.
The clouds, which had seemed so far away at the start of their walk, now gathered above them, hiding the sun and making the forest a little darker. Drops of rain started to fall and the calming sound of the raindrops falling on the foliage and the fresh smell of wet earth had a calming effect on Thorin. All anxiety about wolves forgotten.
He loved the woods, the sounds, the smells. He filled his lungs with a deep breath of fresh air and for a moment closed his eyes and held his face up to the sky, the fresh rain drops gently falling on his face, his beard and his long, dark hair, which was held back with a beautiful handcrafted clip in the form of a raven.
He stood there, enjoying the moment, but then, at once, snapped back to reality. It had gone quiet. Even though shouting and noise usually didn’t mean anything good when the boys were concerned, neither did absolute silence. He quickened his pace and almost tripped over a boot and another one and another. He followed the trail of boots, picking them up. Apparently, the boys had decided that they no longer needed those.
He approached the stream and saw Fili crouched down, his blue cape over his head and his chin resting in the palm of his hand. Kili was perched on his hands and knees on a flat stone in the stream. They were studying a black bird which was hopping from stone to stone in the stream. The bird paused, sat on a stone and curiously turned its head from side to side, seemingly as curious as the boys. It was altogether a peaceful sight, the dripping sound of the raindrops making little circles in the water, the gently flowing stream, and the boys watching the bird, watching the boys.
Thorin crouched down next to Fili and put his big hand on Fili’s tiny shoulder. So that’s why the little rascals had gone quiet, he thought and smiled.
‘Can we keep him uncle?' Kili asked, breaking the silence. ‘Can we take him home so that we can show him to amad?’
‘No my dear boy, your mother wouldn’t be very happy if you took a bird home. It lives here, in the forest, you know. This is its home. Everyone and everything has its own place in this world and the woods is where the bird belongs. It would be sad if it had to leave his home. You don’t want it to be sad, do you?’
Thorin heard himself say the words and for a moment sadness hit him. His thoughts went to Erebor, his home, where he belonged and which he had been forced to leave and for which he longed with all his heart. One day, he would return to the Lonely Mountain. He was sure of it.
He didn’t have long to think about it, because a frog hopped out of the water, onto the stone chasing off the bird.
Kili giggled and reached for the frog. ‘Can we take …’ he started.
‘No, Kili, we can’t take the frog home either,’ Thorin said sternly, but he had a hard time keeping a straight face. Kili seemed to want to take home every animal and insect he encountered. Thorin was sure that Dis wouldn’t appreciate a zoo in her home.
After a moment, Thorin got up and said, ‘Come on boys, put your boots back on. Let’s go see if amad has something nice to fill your bellies ok? You must be hungry after all these adventures.’
With that, the frog was all about forgotten, the boys hurried to put their boots on and off they went with Thorin in tow. Thorin was quietly enjoying the walk back home, while Kili and Fili chased after butterflies, found treasures - read 'stones' - along the way, chased each other and left Thorin wondering if he, Frerin and Dis had ever had the same amount of energy as these two boys.
The rain had stopped, the sun had broken through the clouds, its rays illuminating the way home and he couldn’t have been more relaxed.
By the time they got home, Thorin was quite proud of himself that so far, the day had passed without any incidents and mayhem under his supervision. He was grateful for the family time, but also, deep down, grateful to be handing them back over to their mother, his dear sister, whom he admired more and more, every time he looked after the boys. But also deep down, he longed for another day with his nephews, whom he loved as if they were his own sons.
Kili- We Didn’t Start The Fire
Number 7 from this post
Sitting by the fire you poke at the embers. Trying to stay awake during your watch, the snores of the dwarves keeping your eyes from fully closing.
Hearing earth shift and the log you sat on moving, you look over and see the sweet eyes of Kili.
“What are you doing up, Ki? You don’t have a watch tonight. Go back to bed, hon.” You sleepily tell him, the cute name causing him to smirk.
He stares at you a little, like he was trying to think of how to word what weighed on his mind. Smiling at him, your eyes return to the fire.
“Why do you never speak of your world?” Finally came the question.
Staring at him your eyes soften.
“I suppose because things from my world are difficult to explain, and I also suppose because if I explain some things, even if they’re nice things, I’ll also have to explain some terrible things too.” You reply honestly with sad but warm eyes.
Kili looked down at his hands a little embarrassed, beginning to fiddle with his gloves. You both sat there for a bit, the silence some how both comfortable and awkward.
“Well maybe just tell me some nice things and if they relate to bad things we can just skip to the next nice thing.” He looks up at you with big puppy eyes.
“Okay, Ki, sounds like a plan.” You smile at him, your hand softly resting on top of his.
Kili has nightmares, he’s had them since he was but a child and he learned that his Adad would not be coming home. The adults would not tell the young dwarf what had happened and that might’ve been for the worst, as Kili’s imagination was more than willing to fill in the gaps even if he wasn’t correct.
You were familiar with these nightmares, you don’t spend years sharing the same marriage bed and not notice that your husband wakes in terror some nights.
It had gotten worse since the battle, he had almost lost his life. He had almost lost his brother and uncle and it was taking a toll on him.
Kili was thrashing next to you, “I’m sorry” over and over again spilling in anguish from his lips.
“Darling” you call, shaking his shoulder, “My love it is only a dream, come back to me.” You caress his shoulder softly until he stirs. His eyes open suddenly but he does not jump.
“I am sorry I woke you amralime. You can go to sleep again I will be okay.”
“Ki, I’ve never heard you say anything during your nightmares, are you sure you’re okay?”
“I- I will be fine.”
“Don’t hide from me Kili. I am your wife. I am here for you.” You turn so that you are lying on your side. Facing your husband whose eyes are holding a deep pain, one that you long to take from him.
Kili is silent for a while. “I worry that Mahal will not forgive me.”
“Forgive you for what? You’ve done nothing wrong?”
“A lot of people died because of us. Good people. The men women and children of lake town burned because of our hubris. That is my fault.”
“It is not. It is sad that those people’s lives were lost yes, but the only one who can be held responsible is that Monster Smaug, you did not take their lives, my love, don’t let that guilt swallow you.”
“I just cannot bear the thought of losing you, the idea of not being able to spend eternity in your arms because of what my hands have done… I would never be able to forgive myself.”
“Kili, I do not care what your hands have done, I know the man you are and I love you, I will always love you, in this life or the next. Let Mahal try and separate us after our time in Middle Earth has passed, I will not let you go.” You grasp his hand in yours and bring it closer to your chest, resting your joined hand atop your heart.
“You must know,not even death could stop me from coming home to you.” Kili presses a kiss to your lips. You do not hesitate to return the affection. Kissing your husband is like heaven on earth and you’d gladly do it for the rest of your life.
You pull him in close, entertaining your legs and running your hand through his hair. His responding groan is enough to make you smile into the kiss.
“Do you still want me to go back to sleep, dear husband?”
“Not yet amralime, your love is the sweetest thing I have ever tasted and you know I have quite the sweet tooth.” Kili practically pounces on you, the rest of the night is filled with love and light, pushing the dark thoughts away from your husband’s mind.
Straggler
Kili Durin x human!reader
Summary: An au where everyone lives happily in erebor and kili is in love with you (lucky)
Warnings: ONLY TWO uses of y/n, and fluff ofc
A.N. i love kili and he loves me tbh.
Bagginshield mention lol.
Also: -ê khi love: my one love and Ghivashel: treasure of all treasures
Kili is 4'8, Reader is around 5'4
"You look beautiful in the sunlight," the dwarf beside you said. You jumped, you swore when you left this morning, and you didn't have any stragglers. However, here you are, with Kili Durin on your tracks. You weren't going to lie, you enjoyed the princes company, if only he gave you a warning beforehand.
You all had been thriving in Erebor upon a year now. Now that things had settled and riches distributed, everyone was able to return to a simpler life. Ori began exploring crochet after mastering knit. You enjoyed going on walks around the mountain, and Kili enjoyed you.
You looked down to him and furrowed your eyebrows, unsure if you heard what you thought you did. "I said um," he began to look sheepish, "you look beautiful in the sunlight, Y/n."
"Thank you," you bowed your head in appreciation, then began to continue your stroll when he said, "Wait!" He grasped your forearm, "may I join you this morning?" He gave you a warm smile in addition to the sweet eyes you could hardly resist.
"You already are KIli," I told him, returning the smile. "But sure, why not." He wasted no time in meeting you at your side. "I really love the view," your gaze followed over the trees and valleys and into the overwhelming beauty of Middle Earth. After being on the year-long quest and exhausting final battle, you can finally appreciate the scenery you're surrounded with. It sends waves of peace over you that you only wish to bask in until the end of time.
"So do I," he whispered. But instead of looking at the young rising sun over the horizon, his gaze on you didn't falter. To an onlooker, it would look as if his sight upon you had grown more intense.
You, of course, noticed this. "Kili, I'm serious!" You playfully shoved him to the side. You let laughter spill from your lips, and he joined you. You paced forward slowly, "you know... would you ever like to see it all?" Your voice matched your vision, very distant.
"All..?" He asked you whilst meeting your speed.
"Of middle earth. Would you ever want to see the entirety of our world?" You spoke quietly, thinking of how you would answer that question. In all honesty, you would. But not for a long time. You needed a couple of years before venturing on your next quest, and with the knowledge you now know, you would not want to go alone.
"I see the entirety of my world every day," he spoke softly. He stopped walking and looked at you. You halted and looked at him. He had a gentle smile on his face. Crossing the short distance, you stood before him.
"Must you always be a flirt?"
Looking up into your eyes, "I must," he mused.
"And why is that, Kili?"
"Y/n, -ê khi love, I think you know," he took your hand in his. He held you like you were the rarest treasure, and for how he was looking in your eyes, to him you were.
"Kili..." You were speechless. His eyes were studying every movement your face made, trying to learn as much as possible about what you were thinking. But you saved him the trouble, "amrâlimê." You had so desperately wanted to give that name to him. You smiled so brightly, and he returned it. It was debatable who out shined the other.
"Really?" He couldn't contain the excitement he felt inside. All the talks with his uncles about how properly court had finally paid off. He knew he needed to meet with Thorin and Bilbo as soon as possible, but it could still wait until he completed the courting tradition.
"So does that mean we'd give each other the braids?" You felt like a child for asking that question, but being human, this was new to you. Thorin had conveniently told about the practice yesterday.
"It does! It does, indeed." He reached back and released his shiny brunette hair for the silver clip he had installed and turned his back to you. You don't think you've ever seen him so eager. Upon picking up some strands, you heard your lover sigh deeply. If only you were a dwarf, to fully understand this significance. You've noticed Fili's braids. Maybe he's waiting on his turn since.
When you finish the braid, you let your fingers run through the rest of his locs, as if hypnotized. He turned to look at you, tears in his eyes. His hand took yours and placed a lingering kiss on the back of it. He did not break eye contact during the small gesture, and it sent waves of emotion through you. "Your turn, ghivashel."
His gentle tone woke you from your thoughts. You gasped a little and smiled. You turned your back to him and sucked in a breath, beyond excited to receive a braid of your own.
After finishing his portion, you hear Kili release an uneven breath. You turn around to see him with tears in his eyes. You don't ever think you have been gazed upon in such a way as he is gazing now. Eyes wet with tears, but full of passion and love that could never be shown to anyone other than his One.
You held his face in your hands and looked deep into those eyes. He leaned his forehead up to rest against yours, and you closed the gap. The feeling surging between the two of you could never be measured. Without a word, you both aimed for each others lips, a final collision to seal tradition.
It was languid and slow but full of life. Pulling away, you both looked each other in the eyes. "If only I could tell you how many nights I've laid awake... waiting for this moment, -ê khi love." His eyes looked over your face as if taking it all in for the first time. Not getting enough of every inch it crossed over.
"You will never have to wait again."
