Porridge - Kíli Durin x Reader
Just a cute little winter themed drabble for our favorite little brother.
Warnings: mentions of broken bones, mentions of near-death, light crying, homesickness
Word Count: 0.6k
"Come in," the voice was muffled.
"How's my favorite—what in Aule's name," Kíli interrupted himself. Most likely because while he was expecting to find you on your bed, in your place was a very high pile of blankets, covering from the foot to the headboard.
"Shove it," the blanket pile groaned.
"What, are you hiding your shame?" Kíli chuckled, drawing closer and probing a corner of the bed before sitting down.
"No!" You exclaimed, finally throwing off the layers of blankets. "I—help me up, please," you muttered, and he obliged before you continued. "I have nothing to be ashamed of, that cliff was steep and I blame you for thinking it was a good idea to climb it—"
"When you said you adored goats, I assumed that meant you had some degree of their skill," Kíli smirked.
"—and I happen to be hiding from the cold because your mountain is bloody freezing," you finished with a dramatic pout.
"It's a mountain. In winter. Honestly, khebabmudtu, what were you expecting?" He teased, having found his way to the head of the bed and leaning his head against his hand, his elbow propped on the headboard.
He felt himself freeze when he noticed tears welling in your eyes.
"Hey," he said, voice softer. "What's wrong?"
"It's never this cold back home," you whimpered. "And no one here makes porridge the way Ma made it, and I can't make it myself because of my daft ankle, and I—I just..." you sighed, breaking off. "I miss home but I want to stay here, too."
Kíli frowned. He had seen you upset, sure, and he had seen you heartbroken—sure as Mahal when you thought he was dead—and he had more than definitely seen you angry. But he had never seen you distressed over something that even you would consider trivial.
"You mind?" he asked, already lifting the stack of the blanket corners to slide into the generous bed with you. You shook your head quickly.
"I'm not sure that it counts for much, but I understand," he said slowly. "I spent most of my life in Ered Luin, and I still feel a little homesick for it sometimes. I can't imagine what a big difference it is from the Southlands. But I'm glad you chose to stay here."
"God only knows why," you sniffled.
"Well, I was hoping for me," Kíli smiled, and you rolled your eyes. "But seriously, khebabmudtu, we all love having you here. Anything that can help make you stay, I'll do it."
You gave a grin-grimace. "Thanks, Kí," you said, and leaned into his side, much to his surprise. He was all too happy to wrap an arm around your shoulders to keep you there. "What does that word mean?"
He hesitated for a moment. "What word?"
"Khebabmudtu," you said, stumbling a bit over the consonants.
"Heart forge," he whispered, and when you looked up at him, confused, he knew he had to say it louder. "It means heart-forge. The forge where my heart is made."
"Hmm," you hummed shortly, snuggling into his ribs. "I bet you say that to all your lady friends."
He wanted to laugh. He couldn't believe you still didn't believe that he was the ugly brother. "No," he replied simply instead. "Just you."
Just you.
You liked the sound of that.

CozyTober Day 2: Wrapped in a Fuzzy Blanket
Fili x Hobbit!reader
wc: 0.8k
warnings: none
a/n: this is written in 3rd person which I haven't really done in my fics before. I really like how it turned out though, maybe not for an all the time kinda thing but I think it works really well here
Dwarves are sturdy. There is no doubt about that, they can go days without eating (though they will complain the whole time) they can fight long battles without getting tired and they can weather the cold with little struggle.
Hobbits are not sturdy, they are a gentle folk who enjoy the comforts of home and hearth and there is nothing wrong with that. It just means that on nights like these, where fifteen people crowd around one fire, they can get cold.
Fili hears her teeth chattering from across the camp, he notices the shake of her hands and the soft almost unconscious way her eyelids flutter against her ever reddening cheeks. He would find it deeply endearing if he weren’t so worried that she would freeze.
He swiftly cast a glance over to Bilbo, to see if the gentleman Hobbit was just as affected by the night chill as she was. A quick look told Fee that Bilbo was not cold, at least not noticeably. Although that could have something to do with the large fur coat draped around his shoulders. One with a royal blue lining that Fili recognized but would not dare to mention. At least not in his Uncle's presence.
Fili scans the camp in search of something, eyes landing on his own pack. Within it holds a handmade blanket his Amad had made him when he had told her he would be setting off on the journey.
“The mountains get cold Fili, even for Durin’s folk.” She had chastised him when he had tried to tell her that he wouldn't need it, that such frivolities would only weigh his pack down.
He makes a mental note to apologize the next time he sees her, she was right, he would need it. Just looking at the shivering lass was making his own bones feel cold. Without a word he grasps the soft cloth and tugs it out from his pack, it still smells faintly of home. An old comfort that he cherished more than the warmth the garment could provide.
He tries to be disappointed that the smell will be replaced by hers but deep down, he can’t even convince himself. It would be a gift from Mahal for her sweetness to seep into the fabric, for her scent to coat the inside of his pack. He represses a shiver of his own just thinking about it.
Standing swiftly he makes his way over to the lass, she doesn’t make a move to acknowledge his presence, just stares steadily into the burning flames as if the warmth would invade her through sight alone.
He wishes, with all he is that he could know what she was thinking. Just once he would like a glimpse into the beautiful creation that is her mind. Are her thoughts consumed with the songs he so often finds her humming under her breath? Does she tell herself stories of the world around her, like the ones she weaves for Ori when he pleads with her? Or does she think of someone in particular, of a love she holds dear? Perhaps it is a Hobbit from back home, perhaps someone else? What he wouldn’t give for just a single moment in her mind.
He settles for taking care of her body instead, fluffing the blanket in the air and watching it float down on top of her shoulders. He wraps it around her and catches her gaze when she snaps her eyes towards his.
“Thank you, Fee,” Her voice is soft, just like the rest of her. It floats gently on the wind into his mind, carving out a space in his memory. Not before long that is all his memory will be; brief moments of her. He can’t bring himself to care.
He says nothing to her, just smiles and nods and hopes that she understands. Understands that a blanket is nothing; that he would do so much more if only she asked. He would capture the sun in a bottle if it would keep her warm.
He catches the moment she brings the blanket to her nose, inhaling deeply. He watches with deep satisfaction as her shoulders loosen. The tension she had been holding all day melts from her bones.
Fili wonders not for the first time why she decided to come along with this rowdy group of dwarves in the first place. The reason she consistently gave was that she needed to watch out for her dear friend Bilbo, that she simply would not let him adventure without her. But Fili thought that it might have a little more to do with that look of longing he sometimes caught in her eye. With the fire that he sees raging within her soul.
Fili really would give anything for just a moment in her head.

A Surprise Proposition
Kili x Reader
Reader Pronouns: N/a.
Prompt: "Are we just gonna... keep holding hands?" "Dunno. It's nice though."

From the moment Bard appeared on the shoreline to collect the barrels from the elves to the two of you standing together on the barge for warmth, you had been hyperaware of a hand holding yours.
Maybe it was nothing and you were just overthinking it once again. Or maybe it was something, especially as the dwarf holding your hand had practically confessed his feelings for you whilst you were locked in the dungeons of Mirkwood.
Deciding to break the ice, unlike the barge, you were on, you cleared your throat to get your companion's attention.
"Are we just gonna... keep holding hands?" you tentatively asked. The brunette prince turned to face you whilst your other companions continued to squabble over money to pay the bargeman.
"Dunno. It's nice though." he shrugged back. Kili adjusted his grip on your hand before bringing it up to lay a kiss on the back of it.
"Kili." You stated, wanting a serious answer from him.
"Y/n." He replied in the same tone of voice.
Kili kept his eyes locked with yours before bringing his other hand up to brush a strand of your hair back behind your ear. You froze as he did so, knowing that him touching your hair was a big deal for dwarves.
"Well, when we finally get a moment to ourselves then I would like the honour of braiding your hair." Kili smiled at you, a hint of a teasing grin hidden underneath. He looked back out at the water covered in fog as your stunned silence allowed for a moment to gather his, and your, thoughts.
"I presume you understand our customs and what I'm implying," a teasing smile plastered on his lips. He knew that you understood the severity of his words, having explained with Bofur what different braids and beads in dwarves' hair and beards meant to you towards the beginning of the journey.
You let out a small scoff at his words, not one of displeasure no, but more in disbelief and excitement.
"You know, I'd never thought you'd ask." You teased back.

Notes: Alone during Halloween night (Sumhain), you notice two eyes watching you in the darkness of the lake.
Warnings: Kíli x fem!reader; Triton!Kíli; Reader has hair; Reader at the bottom of the sea; SFW.
The lights of the small house still shone behind you as you walked away, you could still hear the excited conversations coming from inside. It was Samhain night, your favorite night of the year, and you had just argued with your parents, to the point where you were so stressed that you chose to get up from the table and leave the house, slamming the door behind you. Hot tears clouded your vision but you refused to let them fall.
As you always did, you went to the large lake near your house. Something about dipping your feet in the cold water and playing with the smooth rocks you found on the shore while watching the light reflecting off the water calmed you. Distracted and a little calmer, but still upset, you picked up a rock and threw it at the water, it bounced twice before sinking. When you lowered your head to look for another stone you heard a sound in the water that made you alert, when you got up and looked around you didn't find anything at first, but when you looked more closely over the water you were surprised to find another pair of eyes, staring at you, shining in the dark of the night.
- Who are you?! - pressed the stone tighter against your hand, threatening to throw it, taking a step back.
The creature with bright eyes and wet brown hair that stuck to its face approached slowly, you didn't hesitate, little by little the being emerged from the water, it was a man, with long brown hair that outlined his jaw, a sparse beard and penetrating brown eyes, there were fins where his ears should have been, some scales on his shoulders. That glow in his eyes... You knew perfectly well what he was: a triton. You had never seen one so close up, only in books. As the man came out of the water, you reproached yourself as ran your eyes down his naked torso.
- What is a human doing alone on the night of Samhain? - all you could pay attention to was how his smile had sharper teeth than usual.
- You still haven't answered me: who are you!
- I'm Kíli, sorry I didn't introduce myself before, I've seen you here a few times, but never as angry as today.
Analyzing the man, you lowered your arm, but still holding the stone.
- If you had already seen me, why never came to talk to me?
- Well, there aren't many of my kind left, I had my reasons to be scared - he approached and sat down on the edge of the lake.
You had already heard many legends about merpeople, legends that told of their powers of manipulation to enchant people, to attract them and take them to the bottom of the sea. And yet you approached him, his eyes attracting you more and more.
- I see... I've never seen a triton so close up before - revealed and sat down in front of him.
- And I've never seen a human up close - he smiled.
- Can I? - you asked shyly as you raised your hand and approached his face, without touching him.
Kíli nodded yes, carefully you brought your hand closer to the fin. Was cold, his skin was thin and delicate, extremely smooth like silk, still damp. Your hand came down closer to his face, there were some scales on the side of his face, his eyes were the darkest you had ever seen, very carefully you ran your fingertips over the gills on the side of his neck, sending goosebumps all over his body. When you looked down you could see his tail, it was a shiny emerald green, the scales started just below his hip.
- Can I? - His sudden voice snapped you out of your fascination.
- What?
- Can I see you too? - he asked, extending his hand just like you did.
When you said yes, Kíli brought his hand closer to your ear, carefully running his fingers over it, curious. He felt your face and hair, admiring each new and different texture. Kíli held your hands and brought them close to his eyes, there was no thin and transparent membrane between your fingers like his, your hands were smaller and soft, when he looked up and met your eyes he became shy and let go of your hands.
- Yeah... As I thought - he said, crossing his arms.
- What? - slightly furrowed your eyebrows.
- You are beautiful - he smiled.
You automatically looked away from him and couldn't control a smile, deep down you knew exactly what that was, he was trying to seduce you, every merpeople did that, it was so obvious, but so addictive. You didn't want him to stop.
- Yes, you are exactly as the books say... - he opened his eyes wider, anxious - ... Charming - he smiled more cheerfully than before.
- You still haven't answered me why you're out here alone.
- I fought with my parents... I preferred to leave home and since I had nowhere to go...
- I understand... - he was silent for a while, analyzing the situation - ... Would you like to spend Samhain with me?
You couldn't hide how surprised you were by the proposal, eyebrows raised and eyes wide, the words getting jumbled on your tongue before you could say anything back.
- With you? Here?
- No - he laughed at your innocence - Not here, at my house, I can take you there and we'll be back at dawn.
- How? The merpeople's houses are underwater, aren't they? I have to remind you that I can't breathe underwater - you both laughed.
-Yes, I know that, dear, but I can make you breathe underwater... With a kiss - the surprised look returned to your face - if you want, of course.
Analyzing the situation, you studied every possible risk, remembering how you had never experienced any adventure, remembering your father's screams at you, the anger you felt...
- Okay, - you decided.
Slowly, Kíli approached, giving you time to give up, but you had already made up your mind. His lips were soft and rested gently against yours, his hands bringing you closer. The kiss was delicate, his mouth was hot, giving you goosebumps with the growing desire, his arms wrapped around you and you let yourself be carried away. Opening your eyes as your lips parted, you realized you were now underwater. Scared, you held your breath, afraid of drowning, you looked up and realized you were very far from the surface. You felt a warm hand wrap around yours, it was Kíli, with a smile he took your other hand away from your mouth and nose and said that you could breathe without fear and in fact you managed to your surprise.
Still holding your hand he took you deeper into the water, fish of the most varied types passed around you, a cloud of bubbles dancing as the school followed its path, sea flowers that you had never seen before opened up to you, it was like you were in a dream, and honestly, you didn't want to wake up.
Sorry for any typos;
Buy me a coffee?

I love Kili; I don't know how you can not love Kili. This is a sweet little drabble; read it!!😍🥰
Butterflies
I decided to make this a separate post, rather than an answer, and add this to my Masterlist later. :)
As requested: Imagine Kili kissing you for the first time.
Butterflies
There were hundreds of them. Their soft, gray and brown, velvety wings fluttered against the dark colonnade of the forest. You could almost hear them rustle quietly, although, of course, none of them made any sounds.
You winced, when another moth ghosted past your face, all but touching it for a fleeting second.
“What?”

Insecurities. . .
(Kili x Reader)
(A/N); Hello and welcome, readers!! As always, thank you for stopping by!! I thought it was high time to write a fic for Kili! After all, who can resist that cheeky smile of his?? Do enjoy! ❤
Plot; Comfort drabble
Pairings; Kili x Reader (Romantic)
Warnings; fluffity-fluff and some angy-angst
_____________________________________
The evening was cheerful, the Company of Thorin Oakenshield having stopped for the night after a long day's travels. Peaceful ambience of the forest began to increase in the nightfall, the breeze light and cool as it swayed through the rustling trees.
Firelight filled the camp with a warm flickering glow, the smell of woodsmoke and Bombur's cooking potent in the air. Conversation was easy to find and delightful, as always. Bofur, Dwalin, Nori and a few of the others were sat together, conversing in what sounded like their native tongue. The intricacies and mysteries of Khuzdul still left you amazed, despite how it was only merriful banter.
You had stood by Bombur, offering to take Bofur's place tonight as the food-server. Each bowl of soup was steaming hot, your steps having to be quick to avoid burning yourself too badly from the scalding liquid as it dripped from the bowl. Each Dwarf had eagerly taken the food that was offered, exhaustion fueling their hunger. Even Bilbo and Gandalf seemed relieved to finally be eating this evening. The days were long and draining, trudging through the wilderness in the everchanging landscape. You too found relief in finally dropping down beside the youngest of the two Princes once your rounds were finished.
Fili, who usually kept him company of a nighttime, was occupied in the audacious conversations nearby. The booming laughter that rang out almost startled you whilst you settled in alongside Kili, him offering the occasional soft chuckle at the words being thrown between bites of his food.
Darting to you, the Prince's hazel eyes glistened with the embers of the campfire. A soft smile of amusement crossed his face, the action always seeming to offer you comfort. "What are they on about now?", you quirked a brow, his expression becoming contagious.
"By this point in the conversation, I don't think you want to know".
"Enlighten me", you encouraged, laughter slipping from the Princeling's lips. It was hard for Kili to restrain his smile when he finally obliged.
"They're taking bets on whether or not Bofur uses his hat in the bedroom".
"Pigs", you huffed, a moment's silence passing before you added, "He clearly does". The Prince snorted, his soup suddenly travelling through his nostrils. Something akin to a guffaw escaped his lips, whilst he desperately tried to grapple his composure in your now shared laughter.
"Agreed", he managed to wheeze out, wiping at his face and mouth.
In moments like this, you appreciated the bond that had formed between you both. Despite the seriousness of the quest at hand, you always found yourself at ease within Kili's easygoing nature and cheeky humour. He always had a way of soothing your anxieties with his jokes and lighthearted conversations, always looking on the brighter side of things. And although he was oblivious to such things, you'd come to find him to be quite beautiful.
It was hard not to when the light of the fire danced over his features, illuminating the strands of hair that fell effortlessly over his face. You'd come to admire those wavy tresses with their now auburn glow, sitting over his strong and broad shoulders. You wondered how he cared for them, keeping them so clean despite the lack of hygiene this quest entailed.
With his head turned and gaze fixed on the forest ahead, you found that his messed half-up had lost a few strands that dangled, masking the Prince's handsome face from your current view. His metal clasp was now sitting loosely on the back of his head. And although it offered him a fitting style, you wished to fix it for him.
Dinner became suddenly forgotten in your new endeavours when you decided to test the waters with Kili. Reaching for the strand that had fallen loose over his face, your fingertips worked the silken strands behind his ear with a delicate precision. The Prince almost seemed to stiffen at your touch, his breaths halting whilst goosebumps ignited across his skin. His lips had parted, lashes fluttering. No woman had ever touched him like that before. And although there was nothing sensual about your touch, it made every part of him light up like fire, craving more of that soothing gentleness.
Sensing his quiet, you became hesitant to continue. "May I fix your hair for you?". Your question had his hazel orbs clouding in confusion, scanning your face for any sign that you may have been jesting. He nodded shyly, his voice seeming to waver slightly,
"Please". That being all the confirmation you needed, you pulled the large clasp from his hair, the thick layers falling loose. Excitement bubbled in your chest whilst you shuffled closer to the handsome Dwarf.
Steadying his breaths, he resisted the shudder that passed through him when your fingers began working through his hair like a gentle comb. You began to remove the small tangles, relishing in the soft touch of his hair. The moisture in the strands was not greasy or dirty in nature and his waves bounced back, unaffected by your touches. The Prince's eyes had fallen closed, his dinner being long abandoned in his blissful state. The sensation of your nails brushing over his scalp had him drawing his bottom lip between his teeth to fight the pleasurable sighs that dared to leave his throat.
The boisterous conversations that once ensnared his attention had faded from his ears. He was barely able to register your voice when you spoke so gently to him. "Your hair is so beautiful", you marveled, spindling his soft hair between your fingers playfully. "How do you keep it so soft and lovely?". The young Prince felt his throat tightening from shock, pondering what your interest was in his hair. In his opinion, there was nothing special about his tresses.
Kili gathered no attention from women, unlike his fellow kin. His complete lack of facial and body hair meant that to any respectable Dwarf, he was considered ugly or unattractive. At your compliments, it was only normal for him to be in a state of disbelief. You were the first and only woman to take interest.
"It's nothing special", he finally murmured. "I just use a light oil after I wash my hair".
"You need to lend it to me sometime", you insisted with a grin, your eyes seeming to sparkle with mirth. "It works wonders on your hair. It's so beautiful". Kili felt his heartbeat increase, his tone falling quieter amidst his further disbelief.
"Do you think so?". In a sudden surge of confidence, you replied,
"I know so. You have the most gorgeous looking hair out of all the Dwarves in this Company". His eyes had blown wide, his lips parting in surprise. "It looks lovely pinned back", you added, finally binding his hair securely with his clasp. "Or left out". You shrugged. He grew confused when you shuffled in front of him. "But, I think I like your fringe the most. It frames your kind face without hiding it".
You were so close now, your (e/c) eyes trained on the delicate strands that made up his bangs. Your touch was featherlight and uncalloused, your face screwed in concentration. In your current focus, you didn't see the admiration and awe for you that shimmered in his gaze. Never had he gotten attention like this, even from a friend. Friend. He despised that word when his thoughts drifted to you. But, how could you possibly ever find him attractive?? His lack of facial hair and muscle was unmanly, even by human standards.
You were strangely beautiful to Kili. You weren't as tall or lithe as the Elves, nor as creamy-skinned or graceful. You had perfect little imperfections in your skin and freckles. Your hair had character, being curly. And you almost always wore your hair out of your face, the odd stray hair coming to frame it perfectly. And from the moment he sensed his feelings for you some weeks ago, Kili had felt his confidence decrease. He felt as if he had no chance with 12 other eligible Dwarves in the Company that could easily win you over with their toned bodies and lavish, braided hair.
The Princeling wasn't oblivious to how you often spent your time with Ori, looking through his books and learning how to knit the varying patterns he practiced. And despite how Ori was much younger than Kili, he had an attractive amount of body hair. He was nowhere near as confident as the Prince, nor as rehearsed in the prowess of battle. However, it didn't stop the envy that crept its way into his heart and mind. Looks had always mattered to everyone else before, so why would it be any different now?
When your cooler hands brushed over his face whilst you worked, it left burning tingles in his skin. You noted the perfect shaping of his eyebrows, running your thumbs over them to smooth any stray hairs. His features were strong, to be expected of a man in Dwarven culture. You swept loose pieces of his fringe from his cheeks, his stubble seductively rough beneath your skin.
Some part of you preferred Kili without a beard. All the hair that hung from the others was so extravagant, but you liked seeing more of his face. His cheeky smile was your favourite thing to see, even on a bad day. Perhaps a beard would hide that?
Raking his fringe up for slight volume, you found yourself taken by how ethereal he seemed. You questioned yourself on whether or not it was your lack of food and rest from the day, but you couldn't ignore the fondness that crept into your soul at being so close with him. A smile marked your face, setting the last strands of his dark locks aside.
"Beautiful", you'd murmured, a sense of accomplishment filling your heart. The warmth of his skin increased beneath your lingering fingertips, his hazel gaze playing over your softer features. To his greater surprise, there was only genuity in your expression. Not wanting you to retreat from him, Kili placed his heated callouses over your own, fighting the way his eyes slightly glazed over with tears.
"Thank you". He offered you one of those boyish smiles, taking comfort in the suppleness of your skin beneath his own. You caressed the stubble beneath your skin, grazing your thumb over the smoothness of his sharp cheekbone. Kili chuckled in amusement, "I look a bit more dignified now".
"Nonsense. Your hair looked fitting either way", you laughed softly, squeezing the warmer hands that held your own. "It's truly beautiful. Stubble and all". His dark brows had risen, wonder filling his kind gaze. You really didn't mind his lack of body hair??
"I always thought my stubble was– I thought it may have been unsightly", he confessed with the hints of a nervous smile, your brows creasing in light concern. "Beards are of high importance in my culture".
"Not in mine", you shrugged, slowly trailing your thumb over his dimples and slightly chapped lips. "Besides, how else would I be able to see that gorgeous smile?". The shy grin that slowly splayed onto his face at your words was the happiest one you'd ever seen on the Prince. Your words had dissolved any unsurities in his heart. "That's the one", you giggled, Kili trying and failing to restrain his smile.
"I think I like yours better", he murmured, sweeping one of your stray curls from your face. "It's the one I fell for, after all".
The small gap between you both closed, Kili's burning lips meeting yours in a gentle touch. It started off unsure and light, becoming almost fervent when your head tilted and lips parted to allow his tongue to slip past them. Using his hand resting along your jaw, he guided your head closer to his own, relishing in the need to be as close to you as possible. His stubble scratched the skin of your face pleasurably, a soft sigh exhaling through your nose.
The both of you separated, your lips swollen and tingling from the caresses and nibbles of his own. Kili's eyes finally fluttered open after a few moments, skimming your face with a soft tenderness. "Abnâmul", he whispered, running a heated digit over your tingling lips. "You'll have to let me do that more often".
"I'll have to think about it", you mused, squeezing the hand that cradled your face affectionately.
"Hopefully not too hard", Kili sighed in pretend dejection, tracing his thumb along your cheek. "I do really love you".
"I'm glad the feeling is mutual", you chuckled softly, pressing your lips to his with a playfulness. No longer burdened with his insecurities, Kili's laughter chased your own,
"Me too".
The End. . .

Fever Kisses
(A/N); First, I’d like to apologize to everyone for falling off the face of the earth this last YEAR. I’ve been diagnosed as Immunocompromised, so it’s been a fun ride catching every single cold known to man :’) Currently getting over a 3-week long cold, and I’m Miserable, so I need a healthy dose of our favorite dwarven brothers. — This is also my 1st Fic/Drabble ever, so here goes nothing!
Summary: A wet rainy night proves no challenge for dwarves or hobbits. The same, however, cannot be said for humans.
Pairings; Kili x Reader, Fili x Reader
Warnings; Fevers/Sickness, Very soft and fluffy fluff, with a bit of angst and drama.
Translations:
Ibrizinlêkh: Sunshine
Bunnel: Treasure of All Treasures
—————————————————
The rain poured harder than ever before, showing no mercy to the trees, the bees, and certainly no dwarves.
The dark and stormy clouds blanketed the skies, casting shadows amongst the rolling hills. Soaked to the bone, through cloaks and tunics, still the company of Thorin Oakenshield trudged on.
Dwarrow are hardy folk; cold and damp environments bothering them none. Humans on the other hand, however, do not share the same trait.
(Y/N) found herself at the back of the line, trudging her way through ankle-deep mud, her arms wrapped around herself in hopes of holding onto whatever warmth was left. Kili stayed close, whereas Fili opted to lead the pack side-by-side with Thorin.
Quiet conversation could be heard from certain members of the company, including the one beside you. Kili regaled you with his adventures with the Blue Mountains and how Fili had scored a 5-point Buck with a single throw of a dagger, enhancing his story with wild gesturing hand movements.
“— And man, you should have seen Amad’s face when we got back with the buck! I daresay she had never looked more proud!” Kili boasted properly. “…(Y/N)?”
You looked up, meeting his soft honey eyes, not realizing you had stopped in movement. “(Y/N), are you alright? Are you tired?” Kili took a step towards you, concern etching its way onto his face. You stared at him, a strange, skin-crawling feeling rolling up your spine, a harsh shiver wracking your frame.
Kili closed the short distance between you, his hand gently landing on your arm before repeating his question. Only, this time, as the sound hit your ears, it sounded as though he were not speaking Common Speech at all. Your face scrunched in confusion, before it hit you. You felt a gasp rip through you as you quickly grabbed hold of Kili’s tunic, your legs feeling as though they were to give out. Your vision swirled as though you were one with a tornado, nausea quickly settling in.
Beyond the ringing of your ears, you could hear Kili yelling something, before the shadows of the others came into your peripherals. You tried to breathe, feeling the weight of a thousand bricks upon your chest — you felt as though you were suffocating; your vision began to darken with infectious black spots. Increasing your hold on Kili’s tunic as one last whimper escaped, you felt yourself fall.
—————————————————
“…(Y/N?)” Kili called back to you, having paused in his story at your stillness. He closed the distance between you two, lying his hand on your arm. He called to you once more, only to be met with confusion. He found himself mirroring your expression, if but only for a moment, before that expression quickly turned to terror as your body seized.
One arm shot out to hold up your weakening frame, the other gripping your arm tightly. “Uncle!” Kili shouted, his panicked tone ringing through the air. One look back from both Fili and Thorin had them sprinting to the back of the line.
“What happened to her?” Fili inquired while quickly reaching out with the goal of steadying you. His fear quickly grew as your weak frame shuddered one last time, before alast going limp. Barely catching you in time, he quickly hauled you upwards into his arms, your head lolling heavily against his chest.
Thorin laid his hand upon your too-warm forehead, quietly cursing in Khuzdul. “We need to find shelter. Now!” Thorin barked at the others, watching as they quickly scrambled towards the rocky cliff side.
—————————————————
Safely inside the dry remains of the cavern, a fire was hastily made while Fili and Kili worked to lay out a bedroll for you. Oin frantically dug through his pack, looking for his medicines and ailments as Thorin dug through his own looking for anything dry.
“We need to get her into dry clothes. This will do for now.” Thorin held out an oversized, but dry Tunic.
Fili and Kili shared a look, waiting for their Uncles’ instructions. Surely he didn’t expect them to undress her? Sensing his nephews hesitance, Thorin grumbled under his breath. “All of you. Turn away, now!” Thorin barked once more, before shedding your jacket. Together with his nephews, they worked to undress you, much to said nephews embarrassment.
Moments later, you lay peacefully upon a bedroll, clothed by nothing more than Thorin’s tunic, and a blanket modestly wrapped around your lower half.
Oin knelt beside you, lifting your head gently as he pressed a small glass vial to your lips. “Come on lass, swallow it down.” Oin quietly prayed, pouring the liquid onto your tongue, before sighing with relief at the sight of your body naturally swallowing the rather horrible tasting liquid.
“And now we wait.”
—————————————————
You were floating through the air — clouds more specifically. You were sure of it. You breathed in deeply through your nose, smelling the distinct smell of… a campfire? Surely not in the clouds…
You forced your heavily eyelids to open, finding yourself looking up at a pair of dwarves, whom were sitting side-by-side, heads leaning against one another as they both slept peacefully.
You attempted to recall how you got in said dwarves’ lap, but your brain felt far too mushy and not up to the task. You brought your hand up to Fili’s arm, with the intention of pulling yourself up. However upon doing so, you found yourself with not even enough strength to close your fist around said arm. Grumbling slightly, you tried again.
“Would you like some help?” A tired voice whispered beside you, causing you to jump. You looked up to see ice blue eyes peering back at you, a soft smile creeping their way into them.
At your silence, Fili brought his hand to your forehead once more, clicking his tongue at his findings. “You still have a fever. You need to rest more.” Fili pawed at your blanket, bringing it farther up your body, before tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear.
“Here, Fee. Get her to drink some water.” Kili, awakened at the commotion, handed Fili an opened canteen. Slowly, Fili helped you sit up with a hand at your back, the other bringing the canteen to your lips. You sighed at the feeling of the cold liquid sliding down your throat; Refreshing. A few sips and Fili lowered it, much to your dismay. “Not too much at once, Ibrizinlêkh.” He chuckled, handing it back to Kili.
Swiping your tongue over your now moist lips, you sighed contentedly and closed your eyes, before shimmying back down to rest your head upon Fili’s chest once more.
Eventually, quiet conversation broke out between the two brothers, offering you distraction while you rested your heavily eyelids. Before long though, you found yourself peering back up at them, breaking said conversation as they both returned your gaze, a sight of content and fondness donning their faces.
Without thinking, you found yourself gripping Fili’s outer coat, raising yourself up to his chin. Using your other hand, you placed it on the back of his neck, gently guiding his nose to rest alongside your own. Instinctively Fili closed his eyes upon the close proximity; you gently lifted your head slightly, to rub your nose along his. Up, down. Up, down. And a third time, before resting your forehead against his. “Thank you…” You whispered quietly, before pulling back to reveal a stunned look upon his face. Had your brain not been mush, you surely would have laughed.
Looking to his right, you found Kili staring, dumbfounded at your stunt. Chuckling, you reached for his cheek. Despite his confusion, Kili leaned forward until his nose lay along side yours. Up, down. Up, down. A third time. Slowly, intimately.
Pulling back, you found yourself wearing a content smile, theirs quickly mirroring your own. “Goodnight” you offered softly, before settling back down into Fili’s arms.
“Goodnight… Ibrizinlêkh.”
“Goodnight, Bunnel.”
—————————————————
As the sun climbed over the horizon, you stretched comfortably, before opening your eyes. Once again, you found yourself peering upwards at a pair of blue eyes, alongside a pair of honey-brown.
“Good morning you two!” You yawned.
“Good morning (Y/N)” Kili returned,
“Good morning.” Fili whispered softly.
The company worked to pack up camp after each companion ensuring your health, before Thorin set them off once more.
Beginning your steps, you were stopped by a couple of hands — one upon your wrist, and the other on your arm. “(Y/N), can we ask you something?” Turning to meet both Fili and Kili’s eyes, yours in question. “Last night… you had… uhm.” Kili started, looking to his brother for assistance.
Fili touched his own nose, before continuing: “you had rubbed your nose with ours… what does that mean?”
You quickly found yourself stifling a laugh behind your hand, furthering their confused expressions. “Did I offer you both one? I’m sorry! My fever must have did away with my manners… it’s called an Eskimo Kiss. Thank you for taking care of me yesterday, both of you.” You grabbed each of their hands, offering a quick squeeze before turning back and following the others.
Fili and Kili found themselves standing there, baffled, before your words soaked in. The next sight, was picture worthy… Their faces quickly resembled that of a strawberry.
“An Eskimo Kiss?!” They squealed, quickly chasing after you.
—————————————————
I wrote this on the fly, on my phone at 3AM, as I personally have my own fever, so if this is horrendous to read, I blame my fever.
I do not have a Beta, nor did I honestly proof this before posting… but regardless, I hope y’all enjoy! This wasn’t supposed to be this long, but, that’s how fics/drabbles are supposed to go, right?
Goodnight and to the doctors I go!

Kili Durin x Human!Soulmate!reader
Word Count: 1.8K
Thorin was getting worried, Kili had become somewhat of a ghost story over the past month. He had assumed that his nephew was simply doing his duty. Kili had volunteered to be the envoy between Dale and Erebor for the discussions of armament and training. However, that treaty was signed a week ago, and said envoy position was no longer needed. So why in all of Arda was Kili still going to Dale every day? The young prince left as soon as he was finished with his daily tasks and didn’t return to the mountain until well after the sun had set. Thorin was not worried for his nephew's safety, after all, Kili was an excellent warrior and could take care of himself, no, Thorin was worried for Kili’s heart.
Fili had also noticed his brother’s absence but the blonde prince had always been a bit more perceptive than his surly uncle. Fili had noticed that Kili was missing, but he also noticed that every time he returned to the mountain it was with the most dopey grin that he had ever seen. A grin that he recognized, for it had also graced his face a few months ago when he met his beloved Alma. Fili would bet his beard on it, Kili was in love.
You on the other hand were getting more and more annoyed each time the brown-haired dwarf walked through the front door. He was charming sure, and polite. But he stared. At you. The whole time he was there. And he was there a lot. His attempts to engage you in conversation were far and few between, the few times he was able to grab your attention away from the bustling building he became tongue-tied the moment your eyes landed on his.
Kili didn’t understand why he couldn’t say more than a few words to you without choking on his words. Your eyes had to hold some kind of spell within them. They enchanted him and left him bewitched every time he caught their gaze. It left him frustrated, he had never had this much trouble with women before, why were you so different? Deep down he knew though, you weren’t just any woman. He was afraid though, afraid that naming what you were to him out loud would make it real. And when it is real, it can hurt you.
There weren’t very many stories on One’s where the love didn’t end up requited, either because it just simply never happened. Dwarves were incredibly stubborn creatures after all, and it was entirely possible that they just wore down their other half until some sort of connection formed. It was also possible that those unfortunate few who weren’t able to woo their other half died of broken hearts. The former was unlikely as Kili kept having to remind himself, he couldn’t die of a broken heart. Right?
He was determined tonight though, to find out definitively if the sparks he felt for you were just interest in the handsome woman from Bree, or if you truly were the other half of his soul. To do that though he would need to say more than a few words to you. The problem with that was that you seemed exceptionally busy tonight.
Busy you were, Brant had told you last night that he was going to be leaving today to go to visit family for some type of emergency.
“If the place is still standing when I get back, we’ll talk more about it becoming yours someday.” He had said. You were hoping that that ‘someday’ was sooner rather than later. Brant was getting up there in years. Just last week he had hurt himself trying to lift one of the barrels of ale that had been shipped in from the Iron Hills. You had been taking on more and more of his old tasks and to be completely honest, it felt like you did the job of an owner anyway, just without all the benefits.
You weren’t going to let the man down though, even if it did mean rushing back and forth all night trying to keep up with demand all by yourself.
“Another! Y/N,” was yelled in front the back of the room. Roland was a boisterous man who got along with everyone, he was only a year or two older than you and was currently on his eighth pint of the night. He had a large countenance and seemed to fill up whatever space he occupied, he was handsome but the more and more he drank the less his looks mattered. Usually, this is the point in the night where he starts bordering more on unruly rather than fun-loving. Nevertheless, he was a paying customer and as long as he could still walk on his own out the doors, you weren’t going to say no to his money.
You grabbed another pint glass and poured one for him, balancing it and several other drinks on a tray. You steeled yourself with a deep breath before running back out into the fray.
Walking close to the stool he was sat on you leaned slightly over him and placed his pint down on the counter beside him. He was engrossed in the conversation between the large group of men, something about the best way to skin a buck, you weren’t really listening. As you grabbed his empty glass to take back to the kitchen to be washed, his large hand encircled your wrist none too gently.
“A pint is a wonderful thing, but it is even more delicious when served by a beautiful lady,” He whispered into your ear. You grit your teeth and roughly pull your hand back.
“Now, Roland, what have we said about touching things that don’t belong to you? Huh? Touch the wrong thing and you might just lose your hand.” You spit back at him. Cutting your eyes up at the mounted swords that rest above the fireplace only a few steps from where the two of you are. “I’d hate to have to clean those swords, they are sharp.” You look back into his eyes, satisfied with the fear that you see within them. You stand back up and place your tray back upon your shoulder.
“Anything else I can get you gents?” You question the other men scattered about the space. Silence reigned over the air for a few moments.
“Alrighty then.”
A pint here, a glass of wine there, and two hot meals delivered later, your tray was empty and everyone in the place seemed momentarily satisfied.
Letting out a breath you lean up against the counter.
“What did you say to him?” A somewhat familiar voice pipes up beside you. You turn your head towards the voice. It's the dwarf prince, and you are once again struck with just how handsome he is. You are also struck with the familiar feeling of annoyance, of course, he picked now to talk to you. Just when you had finally afforded yourself a break.
“Hmm?” You raise a singular eyebrow at him. “Who?”
“That large and very drunk man in the back, I couldn’t hear what you said but I could see the look on his face. It was similar to my brother’s when our mother would scold him for forgetting his manners.”
“That’s not too far off actually, Roland over there got a little too comfortable and touched something that didn’t belong to him, I had to remind him of the rules.”
“And what exactly did he touch that was so forbidden?” The prince smirks and laughs.
You smirk back and lift a glass to your lips before uttering one single word, “Me.”
All of the laughter drained from Kili’s face, “He touched you?” His voice had gotten much lower, his eyes darkened right before you.
You rolled your eyes. “I’m going to stop you right there Your Highness, I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself. I’ve been doing it for years. I don’t need some man, no matter how handsome he is coming to defend my honor every time I’m even remotely slighted. The trail of bodies will get far too long.” You stare into his eyes as you speak, putting all the righteous fury you’ve got stored inside into each word.
Seconds tick by before he opens his mouth to speak again.
“You think I’m handsome?”
“I think that we have bigger problems if that is the only thing you got from that.” You took another sip.
“No, no, no I got the point, you don’t need a big strong man to come to your rescue. Lucky for you, I am not big.”
The laugh that sprung from the back of your throat caught you off guard, you slap a hand over your mouth in an impossible effort to catch it and shove it back inside. He was funny, he had never been funny before.
Kili liked your laugh even though it was closer to a snort than an actual laugh, and he would be foolish to ignore the way his heart picked up at the thought that he was the one who made you laugh.
“You- I- I have never heard of a dwarf who makes fun of themselves, in my limited experience your lot are very prideful.”
“Not as prideful as some other races, I should think.”
“No, you’re not nearly as prideful as the pointy-eared bastards who hole themselves up in that accursed forest.” Your words held a healthy amount of rage as well as teasing.
“I sense that there is a story there somewhere.” Kili raised an eyebrow, mimicking your face from earlier. He was desperately trying not to think about the fact that this was the longest conversation the two of you had had up to date.
“One that I’m going to need a lot more liquid courage before divulging, I’m afraid.”
“We can make that happen.” Kili wiggled his eyebrows and pointed at the bottles of liquor behind the bar that separated the two of you.
At that very moment, a shout from the rowdy bunch of men in the back rang out, calling for another round.
“Duty calls your highness, but perhaps I will tell you that story… another time.” You winked at him and grabbed for your tray again, beginning to load it up once more. If that is how conversations with the dwarf prince went all the time, you wouldn’t mind having them more often.
You walked away before Kili could come up with a response, but he was more certain than he ever had been that your heart called to his. Why else would the very sight of you walking away feel like his heart was leaving too?

1. Aragorn
soft kisses - where they're just lying beside you, hands playing with your hair as they trail tender kisses all over your lips
The two of you were meant to be sleeping of course, but the gloom of the mines made it hard to settle. You supposed that's why he pulled you away from the others slightly, to a spot just that bit further away.
Aragorn was on first watch as usual, having made it his task since the beginning of the journey, and always insisted that the hobbits and Gandalf got plenty of sleep. But with that came the usual knowing looks between the two of you as Aragorn knew his love wouldn't sleep unless he would.
So with that knowledge, and him sensing his love's rising anxiety at being trapped underground, it now brought them to this.
He tilted your head up from where it was resting against his chest, his hand cupping your face. Aragorn brushed a few loose strands of hair off your face from where it had fallen out of place as his own head tilted down towards yours. His hand gently entwined with your other, and he paused in his movements, allowing you to decide next.
You gently reached up, threading your hand through his long locks and gently pulling him down towards you. He pressed his lips to yours, mouth moving slowly, softly, intimately.
He pulled away, your lips chasing after his, a small smile gracing his lips as he pressed another kiss, and then another, and then another to your lips.
the type of kiss where you can't find words to say after, or the ones where your forehead lingers against each other's
Aragorn's horse trotted through helms deep, having just pulled him up from the river bed where if not found, he would've succumbed to his wounds. He dismounted his horse and received a scolding from Gimli before forcing himself up the staircases and into the deep.
Legolas rose from outside the doors, greeting his friend who believed him dead. The elf pulled him into a familiar embrace before pulling back and making a sarcastic comment about the ranger.
The elf turned a small smile gracing his face before yelling the name of a person. The ranger followed his line of sight. It fell on his love, you.
You looked up after the elf who yelled out to you, before seeing the man you mourned for standing with him. Abandoning your stuff, you ran to him, arms thrown over his shoulders and crushing him to your chest as a few sobs left you.
His arms encircled you as he leant his forehead against yours. He didn't care at that point about the mud caking him and he didn't think you cared enough at that point, so it made no odds on whether he was careful or not.
He pulled back slightly, raising his hand to caress your face before pressing his lips to yours. Tears left both of you as his mouth moved languidly with yours.
Aragorn pulled away, resting his forehead against yours. He wanted to say so much to you, fearing that he would never see you again but all thoughts left him as he wished to stay in this moment, longing for nothing but you.
2. Fili
messy kisses - curly hair, ruffled sheets and half-buttoned clothes as you just want more and at that moment, they're the most beautiful soul to you ever
The sun trickled in through the window, bypassing the curtains that hadn't been fully drawn across the night before. The young (ish) couple lounged in the bed, bodies pressed together as close as they could get with the few layers of clothes still between them.
He tilted your head up to meet his, his lips pressing against yours, moving languidly in the early morn. Fili reached up, hand caressing your courting and marriage braids that were still somewhat intact.
He groaned, feeling one of your hands gripping the hair at the base of his neck and the other slipping under his shirt across his chest.
Fili pulled back, eyes fluttering open to meet yours; your own half-lidded as you drew in a few stuttering breaths. It was a pleasant greeting from your love first thing in the morning, one that you would be against again.
You gazed up at Fili, the dwarf hovering over you, careful not to rest his entire body weight on you. The tressels of sunlight filtered through his hair, causing a glow to shine over him.
His eyes trailed over your face, memorising every detail as if it was the first time he saw you.
kisses on your body ♡ frail kisses on your shoulder! on your lower back, belly and trailing to your neck, collarbones, lips.
A cry of pain left your lips.
Oin pulled the blood-soaked cloth away from where it was pressed tightly against your side. The infection from the arrow had spread, the orcs having laced it with something deadly.
The pain wasn't something Fili wished on anyone, much less you. So he did his best to comfort you whilst the infection ransacked your body. His hands firmly held you, one holding the back of your head, and the other gripping your forearm to stop you from forcing Oin's hand away from the wound he was trying his best to treat.
After Oin had doused the cut in water, trying to flood any dirt that wormed its way in, Fili pulled you closer. The healer moved back to gather some more altheas and cloths, leaving you curled against your prince's chest.
Fili dropped his head down to your shoulder, as your tears continued to douse his shirt - not that he cared as it was covered in sweat, grime, and whatever else from the trip across middle earth - his hand on your head slipping down to the back of your neck, stroking his fingers in what he hoped was a soothing pattern.
He pressed a kiss to your bare shoulder, the fabric of your tunic had been pulled away, cut away for easier access. It would need replacing, he noted, but hoped that it would be enough to cover you until the sun rose again.
Fili continued his ministrations, pressing another kiss further up your shoulder. And then another at the junction where it met your neck. He considered pressing one to your neck, in that one spot he knew made you shiver, but with the way you were sitting in his lap you were already considered improper in public, so he begrudgingly decided against it.
Oin chose to return at that moment, pressing the churned-up altheas against your wound and then tying the cleanest cloth over it. You cried out in pain, more tears falling. It was like someone was driving a burning knife into your arm, over, and over, and over again. The pain rolling in waves.
Fili kept whispering words of praises and comfort, the Kadzhul translations lost in your mind as all you could feel was the pain, and him.
The knot was finally tied on the bandage. Fili slid his hand from the back of your neck to cup your face, pressing a chaste kiss against your forehead before leaning his own upon yours.
I'm here, you're safe now, I love you, the action spoke more words than Fili could find himself saying.
3. Haldir
lazy kisses as they admire you - fingers delicately trialing your jaw as they kiss your lips
"Haldir," you groaned, leaning back against his chest, head turned up to face him. A smile graced his lips, his eyes locked with yours, shining full of love.
It wasn't often you got to spend a prolonged period of time with your Marchwarden, especially with him being gone for months at a time to guard Lothlórien's borders. So any time you spent with him was precious, even if you knew he would be leaving at the end of it again.
The braid in his hair was loose, albeit from your hands running through his hair earlier, causing him to have a sexy, but dishevelled look. The thought of elves being supermodels no matter what state they were in flashed through your mind again causing you to chuckle slightly.
Haldir raised his hand, letting it linger under your jaw as he delicately leaned down to place another kiss against your lips. Warmth bloomed through you and as his lips moved against yours, all thought about him having to leave again in a few days retreated into the depths of your mind.
You were drunk off the taste of him, off his kisses as he stole your breath each time. And nothing would ever change that.
goodbye kisses - kisses lingering like liquor in each other's lips, bitter but sweet, "I'll always come back to you, love. you're my home after all."
The boats gifted to the fellowship had just finished being prepared and were packed full of provisions to last you a good while.
The thought of having to leave your home again haunted you but not just because it was where you lived. No, because this time you were leaving your love, not knowing when you were to see him again. He was your home.
The Marchwarden was allowed to see his love off, having been granted a week's leave whilst you and the fellowship recovered and stayed in Caras Galadhon, Lothlórien. After you were sent as an emissary to Imladris, Rivendell in the common tongue, and word had returned that you had embarked on a journey to destroy the one ring, Haldir was worried for you.
He knew the history of the ring, as did most if not all elves and was worried about the dangers you may face. He knew that you could protect yourself, having been a sparring partner against you for years, but the worry did not dissipate.
He met you at the shoreline, his hand over his heart in the traditional greeting before he held your hand in his. Sadness filled his eyes as he wished not to see you leave, but knowing that this was a journey you were willing to take.
Haldir leant his head against yours as he fixed the cloak hung around your shoulders, ensuring that the broach was attached properly.
His hands lingered on your waist as he prepared himself to say goodbye again. It was one thing being the one who was leaving, but now that he was on the receiving side for once, he now knew how your heart felt each time he went on patrol. That feeling of not knowing if you were coming back or not eating at his heart.
Your hand on his cheek stole his spiralling mind from his thoughts as your lips pressed against his. A tear threatened to leave his eye as he consumed your kiss like a drug. The fear bubbling in his chest soothing to make way for the love he held for you but the melancholy feeling at having to be parted from you made it more bittersweet than anything.
His lips lingered over yours as you pulled away, his hand raising to stoke a strand of hair back from your face. Haldir wished he could keep you here in his arms but understood the task you had undertaken would not be dropped lightly.
4. Kili
kissing and realising this is the person you'll always love, you'll always want to touch and snuggle with
Kili didn't think he could hold you any closer than he currently was.
You were practically melded into him, hands gripping tightly to the back of his jacket. The clothing was still damp from the thunderous storm you had walked through, but nonetheless had to still wear.
The terror that shot through him as the thunder giant collided with the mountain, believing that he had lost not only his brother but you as well, was something he never wished to feel again. His hands trembled slightly at the thought.
He shifted slightly, taking some pressure off his shoulder whilst pulling you upwards slightly so you were level with him. The ground wasn't pleasant to lie on, less so on his side, and even less so with damp clothes on, but Kili knew this was the company's best option right now.
Kili rested his head against yours, his eyes meeting yours. He nudged his nose with yours affectionately, giving you time to pull away.
It was something he always did, you noted. Every time he wanted to kiss you but couldn't find the words to say it, or was surrounded by too many prying eyes, he did that. Gave you that tell that allowed you to decide what happens next.
You tentatively leant forwards, tilting your head upwards ever so slightly, letting your lips press against his. There was no rush. No incessant desire to pull the other closer, just him.
Kili moved his lips slowly with yours, savouring every moment that he got with you. Fuck, he loved you. The realisation pulled at his heartstrings more, knowing that he could've lost you today.
prohibited kiss - you're not even supposed to be seeing each other but your hands are on his hair and his hands around your waist, lower bodies pressing into each other as you kiss
Laughter radiated through your body as you were pulled through the endless turns and corridors of Erebor. The stone walls were lined with torches and braziers all lit with fires burning brightly.
To anyone else, it would be a maze, a catacomb of tunnels that unless sense was made of them, would surely lead to your demise. But years of living there had engraved the pathways into your mind, and no doubt Kili's.
His hand dragged you to a secluded corner, himself coming to a halt. He could no longer hear the guards trying to follow the two of you. Pride flooded his chest as he gazed back at you, finally alone with his betrothed.
You were finally able to get a good look at him, now that he didn't have all the dwarrowdams fawning over him. Even if he wasn't "beautiful" by dwarf standards, he was still a prince and would have people trying to gain his favour.
But his title didn't matter to you. Kili did.
And by the creator himself, did you love the way he looked. His hair tousled from the running, and the short beard he was so desperately trying to grow accentuated his face.
But the ceremonial robes that hung to his body? You couldn't resist.
He found himself pushed back, pinned against the pillar. Kili's eyes locked with yours, the same fire of desire within him, burning through you.
Your lips pressed with his, mouths moving frantically with the others. Your hands that gripped onto the front of his robes slid up, trailing up his neck and into his hair, pulling slightly to press him into you more. A groan left him at a particularly harsh tug before your hand moved to trace his courting braid.
He pulled away, panting, breathless, kissing you again and pulling you into him, arms gripping your waist, hands in his hair, your bodies practically merging into one. If his Amad caught him now, he wouldn't even have to face the scornful looks of Dwalin, he would already be lying in his grave.
But could he let you go? Fuck no.
5. Legolas
shy kisses - when you're the one pulling them closer, and they nuzzle their face in your crook after the kiss, hands around your waist as their ears get red
You were scared. If anything you were currently lustful, but you were about to fight in a war against ten thousand troops with an army of less than a third of that. So you were scared.
Legolas had turned to where you leant against one of the pillars, choosing to come and check all the fastenings on your armour. He was meticulous and methodical as he went to each and every one, adjusting where he deemed necessary whilst checking it caused you no discomfort.
A soft smile graced your face, as you watch his gentle movements before reaching out to cup his face in one of your hands. A blush, so subtle anyone who didn’t know Legolas would miss it, warmed his face, his head lifting and eyes locking with yours. It was as if he was staring straight into your soul, his piercing grey eyes full of love but fear.
You pulled him towards you, Legolas leaning his head down as his hand held over yours on his face, the other resting gently on your waist. Leaning up, you gently pressed your lips to his. Just once, mind you, the action as tender as possible, letting him come to you.
Legolas leant into you, pressing his lips back against yours, moving at a slow pace. He wanted to savour this moment as much as possible before the two of you walked to what could be your deaths.
ahem.
The clearing of the person's throat sprung the two of you apart, you mentally preparing for the endless stream of apologies to whichever passerby caught you, only for it to be someone you knew all too well.
"Aragorn." You spoke, heavily embarrassed to be caught with your lover.
The ranger looked between the two of you, his face being that awful neutral resting one making it so you couldn't judge his feelings on the matter. Aragorn must have read the panic starting to creep up in you as a teasing smile broke out.
“I have no qualms with this,” he began before looking over his shoulder towards the entrance of the armoury, “but the people of Rohan may not be as forgiving if you are caught.”
He turned on his heel, making his way up the staircase and leaving the two to their devices.
A moment passed and then a chuckle left your lips as a sigh left Legolas’. His head fell to your shoulder as the blush absconding his cheeks spread like wildfire tinting his ears a rosy colour.
At least it was only Aragorn, you mused, If Gimli had found you then he wouldn’t stop teasing your elf.
kisses of reassurance - saying that you're safe, still with them, that your heart is still beating wildly in your chest, that they couldn't get rid of you if they tried, that for some insane reason, you're not dead yet
Your chest heaved, trying to inhale as much air as possible as you sprinted up the mud-soaked hill. Aragorn had yelled for the soldiers to retreat into Minas Tirith and you were making your way as fast as you could until an arrow pierced your shoulder.
The doors were closed and sealed as you entered alongside the last few stragglers, a resounding bang from the wood hitting the stone frame. The room spun on its axis.
The throbbing pain in your arm continued, each ebb seeming stronger which was probably due to the adrenaline wearing off. Maybe you should've stayed fighting, it surely couldn't hurt as much as your arm did, you thought as your uninjured arm reached out to hold yourself up against the wall.
Giving up on keeping yourself upright, you slid falling somewhat ungracefully to the floor, blood dripping from your wound and soaking your sleeve. It was funny how much damage one arrow could cause.
You blinked.
The sun had risen, and from where you could see it, it was around mid-morning. Your eyes focused and you could see a worried face in a sea of platinum blonde hair. Legolas.
Ignoring the sound of the elf’s worry, you pushed yourself up into a seated position, as he gracefully knelt down next to you. His hands mindlessly moved to cup your face, as he had to pull his eyes away from your crudely bandaged arm. The arrow had been jagged and cut more as it pierced you, causing more blood to be lost.
Your hand covered one of his as Legolas moved to press his forehead to yours.
“I'm okay,” you whispered, breaking the silence between the two of you. Your thumb stroked the back of his hand absentmindedly, as you tilted your head up, meeting his lips with yours. It was one of desperation, longing and fear. A shuddered breath left you as the two of you broke apart.
“We’re okay.”

Notes: When crossing a bridge on Halloween night (Samhain) you meet a mysterious knight, does this remind you of any legend?
Warnings: Fíli x fem!reader; reader eats meat and drinks wine; persecution; SFW.
The icy wind forced you to bend down and hold on tighter to the cloak that covered you, your horse was already tired from the long journey, but even though the sun had long since set you couldn't stop, it was Samhain night, you had to get home. Further on, even though your eyes were begging for rest, you could see a faint bluish glow and you were right to assume it was a lake. Arriving at the water's edge, you stopped so that your horse could have a drink and took the opportunity to refill your canteen too.
As you searched through your bag for something to eat, believing it would give you the energy to stay awake for a few more hours, a sound of something moving among the leaves came towards you and suddenly stopped. Without delay, you climbed back onto your horse, which was now alert too. "Who's there?" you asked into the shadows of the night, bow in hand, ready to fire an arrow. With a quick movement and a sound as subtle as a mouse, something approached from your right, but your ears didn't fail and you unhesitatingly shot in the direction, hitting a large black wolf that cried out in pain before being seized by hatred. But you didn't give him a chance, already pulling on the reins to take your horse in a new direction, then starting a chase.
At first it was just one wolf, but after its painful howl, several joined it, hunting you. It didn't matter which direction you were going anymore, you just needed to escape them, lose them. You went down an old road and crossed a bridge that creaked with the horse gallop, only to come to the end and come face to face with a forest too thick for your horse to pass through. He stopped and skidded before raising his paws in fear of hitting the trees and knocking you down. Your back hurt and your head was spinning when you managed to get up, still in time to see him run away at a fast gallop that mixed with the sounds of the wolves approaching, thirsty, you knew you would never be able to run faster than them.
Before you could hide or think of any plans, you saw the black cloud they were forming cross the bridge, its white teeth gleaming at you. And when all seemed lost and you had accepted that there, on that cold October night, would be your end, a rider appeared. His horse was as black as the sky that covered you, he wore a long cloak, wielded a long bronze sword, from where you stood you couldn't see his face, but his hair looked like the first rays of the morning sun. Bravely he stunned and wounded the pack single-handedly, you were so surprised that you didn't even think to draw your bow and react, it didn't take long for the pack to flee, and when the last wolf crossed the old bridge he leaned forward, still with his back to you, and sheathed his sword. When he stood up straight again, his blond curls spread out over his long cloak, and he turned his face to look at you over his shoulder.
As he pulled the horse's reins to look you in the face, you stood up and adjusted yourself as best you could to make yourself presentable. He was a short man with great presence, furrowed eyebrows and shrewd eyes analyzing you, he had a long nose that ended in a braided mustache and a blonde beard. His clothes were beautiful and yours were dirty, you were about to say thank you when he spoke earlier.
- A maiden shouldn't walk alone on Samhain night, she'll end up getting hurt - he had a smug smile on his lips and now it was yours eyebrows that were furrowed.
- Excuse me? But I was perfectly fine and could have managed on my own, I don't remember asking for help from any flirt.
- What a sharp tongue you have, you should be more careful with what you say, you never know who you might end up offending - his look seemed curious, almost as if he was having fun with the situation.
- You're full of "shoulds", aren't you? If it's so dangerous "shouldn't" I know your name?
The blonde man remained silent for a while, analyzing the situation and thinking about whether he should really tell you his name, or better yet, reveal who he really was.
- I am Fíli, son of Dís, daughter of Thráin. And I wasn't lying when said it's dangerous to be alone in the woods at night. Much more on this particular night. Without further intrigue, allow me to take you to a safer place - he extended his hand to you, a new look on his face, sincere and welcoming.
You looked away from him to the bridge for a moment, remembering how close the wolves were before he arrived, how close you were to death. Turning away from this distressing thought, you accepted his hand, it was definitely not today that you would accept your death. With a strong tug he helped you onto the horse, you sitting right behind. When the animal started to run, you were forced to hug Fíli's waist to stop yourself from falling. As they rode away, you remembered how, before the man turned to face you, even as he fight, you couldn't see his head, only his hair, which now, when you thought about it, without the fear blurring your vision, looked very much like living flames - was your imagination playing tricks on you?
The knight took you to an old castle, it looked abandoned. He stopped and helped you get off the horse. You doubted he really lived there, branches had already grown around the towers, the stones on the walls were dirty with age and the windows were dark. The big door creaked open, and magically the torches in the hallway lit up, you don't know how but you didn't ask.
- You live here? - asked, looking at the grandeur of the place.
- Since I was a child. I'm sorry about the dust, I can't always clean everything myself - he takes off his cape and hangs it on the coat rack at the entrance.
- Only you live here?
- Yes, everyone left after... - he was silent - ... You must be hungry, come - he smiled at you and continued on.
Fíli guided you through the corridors to a large dining room with a table just as long. At the end, there was a hearty dinner set out for the two of you.
- Were you expecting a visitor? - you said, taking the second glass.
- Maybe I went out looking for one - he pulled out the chair for you and smiled.
Only when the cooked meat touched your tongue and the seasoning invaded your mouth did you realize how hungry you were. Without paying attention, you ended up exaggerating the amount of wine you drank and soon the alcohol started to go to your head.
- It was good? - Fíli asked when you finished.
- Very good - you smiled and suddenly remembered how rude you had been to the man who saved your life - Thank you very much for all this, you don't even know me and are helping, I'm sorry for being so rude to you.
- Don't worry about it, I would also have responded that way to a strange man on a horse in the middle of the night - he laughed - And I think it doesn't matter if I know you or not, it's Samhain night, there has to be at least one date in the year to be kind without future interests, right?
-I think so...- your eyes became heavy, you leaned on the chair, the tiredness from before returning even stronger.
When you almost slipped out of the chair in your sleep, Fíli caught you, carefully lifting you up, "come on, I'll take you to your room" he said before leading you down more hallways and stairs. The mattress on the bed was soft and the covers were heavy, that was all you could say about your room as your eyes were practically closed when you entered, the blonde helping you lay down and cover you up.
- Good night, Y/n - he said, but you didn't remember telling him your name, but you didn't question it because you were already falling into a deep sleep.
The next morning, you woke up in a silent castle, sunlight shyly coming through the window to illuminate the room. You walked down the steps with light steps, there were no more candles lit and everything seemed more abandoned than last night. You looked between the doors as you passed through the hallways, but they were all filled with just furniture and nothing else except some cobwebs, where was Fíli? When reached the entrance hall you looked back, waited for a moment for any sound that would indicate the presence of anyone else in the house, but nothing.
- Fili? - you called, but no one answered.
Before leaving you noticed a painting at the entrance that you had not paid attention to last night, the painting was torn, but when you stretched it again and completed the image you found those beautiful shining eyes, in the frame of the painting there was a small golden plaque that "Fíli" was engraved and next to it was the year of birth... And the year of death. You walked away and took your breath away, he had died decades ago, how was it possible that you had seen him yesterday? Having spoken to him, touched him and felt him, how?
Without further ado, you left the house and had another shock when you found your horse that had escaped, standing outside, waiting for you calmly while was grazing. You looked once more at the castle behind you and you could have sworn you saw a curtain move. You wouldn't forget that Samhain night so easily.

Hi friend how are you?
For your drabbles, what about a kiss to shut them up with Kili (who else) and reader??
Kíli x reader - to shut them up
You sat, motionless, as Prince Kíli dashed around the room frantically, picking up bits and ends and discarding them in another, just as inappropriate place again. All the while, he kept talking in the strained, fast-paced manner that betrayed a nervousness he would not admit to freely. "What if I stumble over my own feet in front of everyone?" he asked, wide-eyed and panting. Settling your small but steady hands on his broad shoulders, you pulled yourself up along his body and pressed your lips against his. Instantly, the flood of distraught words ran dry, and he sighed in relief.
Always a pleasure to write Kíli for you, my friend!
Lots of love!!!

Sleepless Nights. . .
(Fili x Reader)
(A/N); Hey, readers! Thank you for stopping by to read this!! You can probably tell that this was a "lying in bed whilst cold" idea. Cos let's face it - we all want to snuggle a Dwarf. Enjoy! ❤❤
Plot; Bedsharing drabble
Pairings; Fili x Reader (Romantic)
Warnings; if you like sweet fluff - you'll probs need a dentist, sexual themes / implied smut / brief scene (18+)
__________________________________________
The last light of the day had finally descended behind the horizon when the Company had finally set up camp for the evening. Although the wind of the evening was soft, its chill bit down to the bone. For the Dwarves of Thorin Oakenshield's company, this was not the case.
The Dwarves had thick, hardy blood from their upbringings and many winters spent within the Blue Mountains, making them immune to what they considered a light evening breeze. Gazing at their merriment, you found yourself envious of their indifference to the elements whilst you sat close to the crackling embers of the campfire. You had no such resistance in your blood. Your homeland was mild and warm, the summers being considered hot. None of the furs and clothing you had brought with you were enough to combat the chill of the nights in this part of Middle-Earth. Snuggling into your blanket that you'd draped over your shoulders, you sighed. You prayed that the cold evenings would cease or that you magically gain resistance to the elements over night. These were only the first nights of the quest, and there would be hundreds more. Bombur's hot stews only gave temporary relief, not being able to stop the suffering you felt in your nightly attempts to sleep restfully.
Night after night now, you'd slept horribly. In your futile attempts to rest peacefully, your sleep was light and consistently broken with your trembling. In the mornings, you'd been feeling drained and sore from being curled so uncomfortably in your bedroll. The Company had sensed your quiet and if they'd seen your exhaustion, they'd kept silent about it for your sake. Thorin Oakenshield was a hard man to please, still remaining unimpressed with your presence, like that of Bilbo's. He'd made it clear to the both of you that you were not to be liabilities on the Company. There would be no stopovers in cities, only the dangers of the wilderness. Despite Thorin's hardened will towards you both, you'd grown close with the Hobbit and become quite fond of him. His soft, kind nature had inclined you to feel more protective over the smaller man. However, Fili and Kili saw it as a point of exploit for their mischievous teasing.
There had been many wails and cries from the forest, heard within the evenings, some even managing to startle Thorin himself. He never rested easy either, to your understanding. "The Orcs must be getting restless", Kili mused beneath his breath, knowing that Bilbo was within earshot. The Hobbit had worriedly glanced around the quiet camp. Kili fought his grin, sharpening and cleaning his blade with careful strokes.
"I wonder how long it'll be before we come across them? Or how long it'll be until they find us?", Fili sighed nonchalantly. Your brows furrowed in distaste at their jesting. This was the second time over the course of the week that they'd done it, Thorin telling them off on the first time. It was your turn now.
"Don't listen to them", you chided Bilbo, sparing half a glare to the younger Dwarves as they sniggered to themselves. "They're just trying to be funny". Bilbo sighed, setting his bedroll next to yours,
"Don't you worry that they may be right??".
"No". Your flat answer and shrug surprised not only Bilbo, but the two mischief-makers across the fire. "We're in a camp full of Dwarven warriors armed to the teeth", you elaborated, eliciting smug brow raises from the Dwarven Princes who eavesdropped. "Their pained screaming would probably alert us so that we could escape". The Hobbit found himself chuckling at your addition, the two Dwarves quickly losing their smugness. Despite that, they found themselves in admiration of your fiery wit and sense of humour; Fili especially. He remembered your meeting in Bag End, when he protected you from Kili's food throwing. Although, you really didn't seem to mind it at the time. Both Dwarven Princes had taken to you quickly, despite their Uncle's coldness to you. You had been kind to them since the moment you'd met, carrying many hilarious conversations and jokes on the journey thus far. A smile curled onto the blonde Prince's face whilst he lit his metal pipe, his eyes dancing over to where you and Bilbo prepared to sleep. The Hobbit turned to you,
"Are you sure you want to sleep so close to the fire?". Pulling your blanket closer to your shoulders, you nodded,
"I'll be fine". Bilbo couldn't help his concern. One turn, and you could easily catch fire. He hadn't realised it, but you'd been trying to sleep closer to him each night, praying that some warmth might leech onto you. Even that had become futile now, this becoming your last resort.
Shuffling down, you started to make yourself comfortable for the evening. A soft hum left your lips once you settled, the deep warmth of the fire reaching your frozen limbs effortlessly. Fili watched in curiosity, as he'd done for the last few nights thus far, unbeknownst to yourself.
He'd noticed the paleness starting in your face, the way you constantly needed to stretch your limbs as if they were weak, tired and sore. You'd also developed a soft darkness beneath your eyes, seemingly more tired with each day's passing. Something was wearing you down. He even thought of telling Oin that you were unwell, Kili refusing the idea. If their Uncle caught wind that you had a sickness, he would leave you in the nearest town for care, unable to risk the safety and health of his kin. Kili was positive that it would pass. Yet, Fili wasn't so sure. Seeing you now trying to curl up to the fire after countless nights of lying extremely close to Bilbo had him worried that you had caught chills from a disease. That slowly, hypothermia may take you. Your eyes fluttered closed, unbothered by the world, Fili's brows creasing with worry.
"What is it?", Kili whispered, noting his brother's expression with equal concern.
"Something isn't right", he replied underneath his breath, eyes drifting to his counterpart. Kili's lips pursed, eyeing your form from afar.
"Agreed. She strays further from being herself every day, growing more exhausted".
"I wish I knew how to help her", Fili sighed. "But, she is silent about whatever this is. Maybe Oin—".
"No", Kili halted him. "I don't think she's sick". The blonde's brows rose, encouraging his brother to elaborate. Yet, before he could, a figure had crossed the camp.
"No, I've seen enough", Dori hushed his brother Nori, turning to your figure on the floor. "(Y/n), pardon me for disturbing, but I can't take this any longer". Propping yourself up on your elbows, you gazed up incredulously at the pompous Dwarf you'd also grown fond of. Dori had begun to fuss over you in previous days, ensuring that you were eating enough. You appreciated him and his motherly nature, yet now you weren't so sure.
"Dori?", you questioned, a brow quirking in confusion.
"You need to move from the fire right this very instant, lest you wish to burn yourself alive!". Sighing, you rubbed at your eyes.
"Dori, I'll be fine—".
"No!", he cut in harshly, silencing you. His eyes seemed to plead with yours, clouded in concern. "You'll catch alight being this close and I will not allow it!".
"Dori, please", you begged, the exhaustion in your voice softening his eyes. "I'm freezing. I'm cold—". Before the argument could get around the camp, Fili marched forward. He now understood why your nights had been sleepless. It all made sense. You were cold. He'd almost forgotten that you'd come from a more tropical part of Middle-Earth.
"Dori", his stern voice seemed to break the resolve of the older Dwarf. "I'll handle it from here". In his crystalline gaze, there was a surity and a sense gratitude for the other's efforts. Dori conceded hesitantly, sparing you a sympathetic glance before he parted. You came to dread the Prince's presence, grumbling to yourself in frustration. He was going to ask you to move as well, wasn't he?
"(Y/n), just move aside from the fire a moment".
Not wanting any more fights, you huffed, coming to a stand. The evening air attacked your form, your lower jaw beginning to tremble. The comfort of the fire was no more whilst you settled not too far from Bilbo. You curled painfully in your blanket, forcing your eyes to close. Fili had a sense of relief within him. You weren't sick, thank Mahal, but, he wouldn't let you suffer it out anymore.
In your numb, painful state, you hardly noticed the Prince setting his bedroll beside your own. He slid down, increasing the cold you felt when he lifted your blanket from your form. Your eyes shot open in a form of shock, your body tensing and covered with goosebumps. Instead, Fili set the blanket with his own, creating a double-layer blanket. Not only did the Prince cover you, but himself as well, shuffling closer to you. "Fili", you breathed out his name, your teeth beginning to chatter. "What are you doing?".
"It's okay", he murmured with a softness, wrapping you under one of his larger arms. Heat seemed to pour from Fili, his barely clothed form alike to a furnace. "Can I move closer?".
"Please", you shuddered, the Prince obliging quickly. Your arms came to wrap around him, the cold of your hands resting on his back seeming to give him shock.
"Mahal, you're so cold", he mumbled, curling his head over yours to comfortably have your head in the crook of his neck. You huffed harsh breaths, your body slowly becoming used to the warmth enveloping you. His large hands were like branding irons on your clothed skin as he rubbed circles over your arms and back, his hair masking your face from the cold. Once you ceased your breaths, your trembles coming to fade, he eyed your face for sickness. "Are you alright?".
"Yes", you sighed, nuzzling into his chest. "Thank you". A soft smile splayed on his face, relieved to see you no longer in pain. "Please don't leave".
"Just sleep", he encouraged, running his hand over your hair. "I won't leave you". There was a gentle compassion in his crystalline gaze that completely mesmerised you. Your tired gaze finally closed, fully trusting the kind Dwarf. Sighing in contentment, your body relaxed for the first time in many nights. Fili's heart thrummed like a lullaby close to your ears. His soft breaths were calm and steady, repeating in a blissful loop. It wasn't long before your breaths evened out, his callouses running gentle caresses over your cheek. And despite how he usually stayed up later, Fili allowed his eyes to come to a restful close as well.
The following morning came quickly over the horizon, your eyes fluttering open to find soft breaths fanning over your face. Fili's expression was peaceful whilst he slept, his arms holding you flush against his form. His legs had tangled with yours in your shared unconsciousness and you found that your muscles and bones no longer ached with inflammation. It had been the best sleep of your life.
With him already awake, Thorin's ocean gaze scrutinized your tangled forms from afar, yet said nothing. The rest of the Company didn't share his response as they rose for the day.
"You were awfully quiet for two people that bedded each other", Dwalin had teased, earning a disappointed look from Balin.
"Can't have been that good in bed then", Nori commented playfully. Gandalf had shaken his head at their antics.
"I was just keeping her warm!", Fili had defended, the Company laughing in their amusement.
"Aye, I believe that", Bofur conceded. "But, with or without yer pants on?". The blonde glared, sparing only you a sympathetic glance.
"Did you sleep well?", he asked, slipping his coat on over his tunic.
"Yes, thank you", you grinned, your muscles no longer stiff and your face no longer like death. Fili matched your expression. "I'm sorry about them".
"Don't be", he chuckled, shrugging. "They're just jealous". Some part of you felt as if you'd never sleep that well again. You knew Fili was doing this as a one-off and it saddened you. However, you would not waste this energy while you had it. You'd relish in it, even if it was for only one day.
Bombur had made a hot breakfast, rehydrating dried meats, cooking eggs, tomatoes and frying the mushrooms Bilbo had picked in the woods yesterday. Dori had set you aside a plate, ensuring that you had enough sustenance to carry you throughout your day. "I'm sorry", the older Dwarf planted himself beside you. "For everything". You turned to him, feeling the regret in his gaze.
"Don't be. I was lying too close to the fire. You cared for me, like Fili. Thank you". Dori offered you a smile of warmth, rubbing your back comfortingly.
"It's alright", he assured you.
As the day progressed, Ori had offered to knit you an extra blanket. Thorin didn't like the idea of his scribe forsaking his job for you, however, he understood why. Compassionately, he'd offered you his coat instead, which had shocked even his nephews. You didn't wish to deprive Thorin of his source of warmth, thanking him kindly, but declining the offer. The days were growing warmer, you'd noticed, but the nights were less promising.
The evening approached all too quickly, the late afternoon winds carrying a chill. Eagerly, you'd awaited Bombur's rabbit stew, courtesy of Fili and Kili's hunting skills. Ori had approached you whilst you ate, wrapping a scarf gently around your neck that he'd knitted post-haste for you. "I know it's not much", the young Dwarf fumbled. "But, I hope you like it and that it keeps you warm". You smiled, causing his expression to light up before you offered him a side hug. Happily, he obliged.
"It's more than I deserve, thank you, Ori". Dori smiled at your interaction, clapping his youngest brother on the shoulder in gratitude when he returned to his family. Bofur had taken to giving you his hat, lowering the flaps over your ears to keep them warm.
"Keep that safe for me, Lass. Can y' do that?". You grinned at his friendly demeanour, nodding.
"Thank you, Bofur".
"Was the stew hot enough?", Bombur asked with some insecurity. It occurred to you then that word had spread fast around the camp about your more tropical background.
"Beautifully so", you'd assured him to his delight. Oin had even taken to offering you a tea he'd made from chamomile flowers and honey-dipped sage for more peaceful sleep and happy muscles.
However, you dreaded only being with one blanket as the cold front moved in. You'd set up your bedroll as the trees rustled up above. The stone-covered floor beneath you matched the cold in the air, stealing the warmth from your form as you attempted to settle for the night. Steps approached your tensing form, the blonde Princeling aligning his bedroll with yours again to your surprise.
"What are you doing?", you whispered, eyes darting up at him in alarm. A soft laugh rumbled in his chest whilst he settled in with you.
"What does it look like?", he bounced back. "I told you I wouldn't leave you. I meant it". He offered you a lopsided grin that made your heart do backflips. "How close you snuggle up to me is entirely up to you". And despite his cheekiness, you didn't refuse his kind embrace, that same compassion twinkling in his icy blue gaze. His hot clothed skin met your own, a sense of bliss travelling into your very soul at the soothing feel of it. He adjusted Bofur's fluffy hat, ensuring Ori's scarf was also adequately covering you.
"Thank you", you hummed, almost gasping at his callouses trailing up and down your back, leaving goosebumps in their wake.
"It's alright", he murmured, his chin resting upon your head in contentment. Some part of you prayed that he'd never stop sleeping beside you like this.
To your delight, it became a nightly ritual. Most times, no words had to be expressed. It never mattered how involved in a conversation Fili was, he would always follow you to your slumber whenever you decided to sleep. If he was on nightwatch, he would hold you in his arms, bundled into his lap. It was in the quiet hours of the night in which Fili allowed himself to admire the evenness of your breaths and your restful expression. Sometimes, he would lay soft kisses upon your forehead when he was sure you were entirely asleep. Slowly, he came to the understanding that he was becoming taken by you.
Guilt had begun to fill his heart over time. This was an entirely innocent act and yet, Fili felt as if he had tainted it. You had no idea about his feelings and if you did, would you still allow him to be so close? To hold you with the hands he desired to do so much more with? He found it was selfish to keep you so close, feeling that you deserved more than him.
It mattered not when danger struck the Company.
First, it had been trolls who'd taken to stealing the ponies for their meal, before putting yourself and the Dwarves on their breakfast menu. But, with the coming of Radaghast the Brown afterwards, Fili realised there were far worse worries than the trolls they'd faced or his impure thoughts.
Wargs with Orcs astride were hunting you all and there was nowhere to run. Adrenaline carried the Company across a field littered with boulders. "Ori, no! Get back!", Thorin exclaimed, pulling the younger Dwarf back against the fifteen-foot boulder your group had begun to pass. Sweat beaded down your forehead, eyeing Thorin for further instructions. It was Gandalf who instructed you to keep moving instead. "Come on, come on, quick!!", he ushered everyone along. Fili stuck close to you, pulling you with an iron grip to ensure you kept up. You never fought his touch, holding onto his larger hand whilst your legs burned amidst your sprint.
"Where are you taking us?", Thorin had ground out in his suspiscions, eyeing the grey wizard who declined to answer him. The howling of the Wargs was enough to heighten your anxieties, alleviating your pain, pushing you forwards. Radaghast's cries of laughter descended over the hills ahead, alerting you all to the nearby Orc pack. What you weren't expecting was to see Radaghast leading them in the hills right ahead of you. The Dwarves were lead to a sharp left, you all ducking for cover beneath a boulder. Thorin pinned Bilbo beneath his arm and against the boulder face, doing a headcheck to make sure that everyone was accounted for. Fili had you pinned behind him, his large twin-swords drawn. Thorin admired his nephew's instincts to protect those weaker than himself. Not that you weren't a capable fighter, you just weren't as seasoned as the Dwarves. Dwalin growled beneath his breath, his axe at the ready. Ori clung to your arm, holding on for dear life. All of your breaths, despite wishing to catch them, shallowed as the jaws of a Warg gnashed menacingly above. Thorin's ocean gaze darted to his youngest nephew, armed with a bow. Panic leapt into your throat. You would get caught, you knew that. Your mouth opened to protest, but Thorin had given his orders. Kili stepped out from beneath the boulder, firing true between the Warg's eyes. This was not enough, to everyone's surprise. The Warg and his rider tumbled to the floor, the Dwarves striking hard and fast. Your face had screwed into a cringe, the wails of the two hellish creatures echoing throughout the hills. A moment of tense silence passed before a foul tongue was heard on the wind, Gandalf's gaze snapping to the hills ahead. Howls began to echo in the landscape, the wizard shouting, "Move!! Run!!". Your feet hit the ground, Fili pushing you forwards, ahead of himself. Noticing that Bilbo was lagging behind to your right, you gripped onto the Hobbit, pulling him with you.
"Ori, quick!!", you ushered the smaller Dwarf that flanked your left.
"I'm trying!", he gasped, gaining on your lead.
"There they are!!", Gloin yelled, pointing to your far right. You spied the many numbers they had, your heart battering within your ribcage.
"This way!", Gandalf called, looping you further left and down the yellow hills. Thorin was faster than the rest of his Company, taking the lead ahead of the grey wizard. Yet, it was all for naught. Thorin's arm stopped your group, growling at the Orc riders dead ahead.
"There's more coming!!", Kili shouted, arming his bow to fire.
"Shoot them, Kili!! Shoot them!!", his Uncle ordered with urgency. You drew the sword on your waistbelt, holding it in a defensive position.
"We're surrounded!!", Fili proclaimed, only a few yards ahead. The enemy had completely enclosed the Company in. And you were all heavily outnumbered. You darted forwards to help build the front lines, Fili catching you in his peripheral. His strong arm outstretched, catching your smaller form. "Stay behind me!!". The sternness and desperation lacing his voice whilst he held you back was almost terrifyingly different to the softness he usually offered you.
"I'll fight with you! I can fight!!", you argued.
"No!!". His voice dropped an octave. "Flank the others. Protect them. Let me protect you!". His eyes pleaded with you whilst he gently shoved you back. "Do as I say, (Y/n)!". Fili was a seasoned warrior. With so many enemies, you may be the Company's last line of defense. Kili shot arrows effortlessly into the wind, the other Dwarven warriors falling into a panic.
"Where's Gandalf?!", Dori shouted. Now that you looked around, running to regroup with Bofur, Bilbo and Thorin, you didn't see the wizard anywhere. Dwalin flanked your right, responding hatefully,
"He's abandoned us!!". You panted, watching to your horror as Ori took the first line of defense, shooting his slingshot weakly at the leader of the pack to no avail.
"Ori!!", your cry broke the air, Thorin charging forwards from your left to join the outer circle with his nephews.
"Hold your ground!", he screamed, Dwalin and Bofur lingering with you to protect the others. Readying yourselves for a difficult fight, you all jumped when hearing the voice of the wizard you'd all come to love so much.
"This way, you fools!!", Gandalf yelled, seemingly within a ditch in the rocks. It was your best chance. Everyone knew it, not hesitating to sprint in the opposite direction, towards the boulders.
"Come on! Move!!", Thorin barked, ushering Bombur, Fili and Ori ahead of himself. Kili had not stopped holding his ground courageously. "All of you, let's go!! Move! Move!!". As per Thorin's proclaimations, you helped Bofur, Bilbo, Balin and Dori into the ditch below. Meanwhile, the King skillfully struck down the Wargs that attempted to foil your escape. Oin, Gloin, Bombur and Bifur slid down, one by one. Dwalin grabbed ahold of you, once assuring himself that Fili, Nori, Ori and Thorin were near enough.
"Let's go!", he'd shouted, dragging you down into the darkness below. Eagerly, the Dwarves below attempted to catch you both, cushioning your rough fall successfully. Quickly regaining your foothold, you held up your weapon in renewed fervour.
"Kili!!", Thorin shouted, still not descending until all of his kin were accounted for. Gandalf helped keep track of that, having counted you all as you fell in. Ori and Nori had come tumbling into the cavern, everyone pulling together to break their fall. Nori pushed Ori behind himself, growling with a primal fury. The two Dwarves were followed by Fili, Kili and finally Thorin. Dwalin and Fili fronted a defense in front of you, the latter tucking his arm behind himself to cover you.
Instead of the onslaught you'd all expected to follow, a horn broke the air, hooves breaking the softer ground above with thunderous steps. An onslaught had begun, just not involving the Company. Metal clashed in the fields above and arrows flew, an Orc tumbling into the cavern with one piercing his chest. You all were ready to fight the creature, sighing in relief when you found it to be deceased. Not satisfied, Thorin ripped the arrow from the Orc's chest to examine its make. "Elves!", he spat, throwing it aside distastefully.
"I canny' see where the pathway leads!", Dwalin called out, having now moved ahead from the group. "Do we follow it or no?!".
"Follow it, of course!!", Bofur responded all too eagerly, pushing his way through the crowd his kin had formed. The Company didn't wait for further orders, Nori leading his brothers behind Bofur and his cousin and brother. Balin followed suit with Kili at his side. Gloin and Oin followed after them. Thorin's eyes darted between Gandalf and Bilbo with an unreadable amount of frustration before following his kin.
"I think that would be wise", Gandalf agreed with some lighthearted amusement. You breathed a sigh of relief, placing your sword back into its scabbard. The Company had survived, you were all alive. Fili waited for your steps to follow his own before moving forwards. Bilbo lingered with the wizard, their steps falling far behind your own.
"Are you hurt?", the Princeling asked, his gaze travelling over your beautiful body for any signs of injury.
"I'm fine", you sighed. "In need of a lot of rest. And you?".
"The same", he assured with an amused huff. You were all finally safe, having landed in the realm of the Imladris, better known as Rivendell; the home of the Elves. You had always wished to visit these lands, having read about this place only in legends.
The rays of the setting sun reached over the cliffs of the Valley. It provided a dim, natural lighting of a golden orange. Upon seeing the water that flowed freely through the small and beautiful city, your body craved a bath and a new set of clothes. Sweat and dirt had matted your clothing heavily, creating an unpleasant stink and stickiness to your skin. Thorin was in no way impressed about being in Rivendell over the next few days. Yet, most of you couldn't care less.
You all had descended the stone steps, having an Elf by the name of Lindir greet you upon entry. Gandalf had asked for an 'Elrond', a name you had read only in Middle-Earth's greatest history books and legends. Lord Elrond Half-Elven. And it wasn't long before he showed. He and his men came astride many stallions, surrounding the group of Dwarves that shoved you and Bilbo into the middle of their kill-circle. You had been relaxed all along, realising that there was no harm intended. The Elven Lord was kind beyond words, greeting the wizard as a very old friend. He had looked upon your group, noticing how weary everyone was. Without hesitation, he offered food, his house and all its amenities to you all. You didn't hesitate to thank him on the spot, Dwalin and Thorin rolling their eyes at your good manners.
"You are most welcome", Elrond had assured you with an inclining of his head, Gloin's words having been quickly forgotten in your kindness.
The day's passing seemed slower in Rivendell. You didn't feel rushed as you rinsed yourself in pouring water to remove any and all dirt before soaking in a premade bath. All of these amenities were in your room, the silk curtains closed for your privacy. The water seemed creamy, smelling floral as it softened your skin. Steam rose from the water, being just the right temperature. A clean dress had been set on your bed along with a night gown. You used the exfoliating oils on your scalp, rinsing out the sweat and dust once you had left the bathtub. The dress the Elves had been kind to leave you was a soft baby blue, sheer with many layers. The sleeves and underdress were silver silk that clung to your arms comfortably.
When you arrived at dinner, the Dwarves noted your sweet scent. You'd definitely bathed and left your hair loose to dry. Despite being offered a seat at Elrond's table with Thorin, Balin, Bilbo and Gandalf, you chose to sit with Bombur, Dori, Ori, Bifur, Gloin and Fili at their smaller table. You sat between Ori and the space on your left where Bofur sat at the head of the next table. Fili had eyed you from the moment you entered the terrace. Silken silver and sheer blue. It was a breathtaking combination on you. You sat across from him, the sun hitting your back and giving you an ethereal halo. His mouth went dry, but it seemed he wasn't the only Durin in the state of infatuation. Kili had eyed the harp-playing Elf-Maid, her delicate fingers tracing over the strings. He even offered a wink which faced scrutiny by Dwalin, seated across from him. You hadn't noticed Fili's gaze whilst you ate, watching as Kili further humiliated himself at his table. The blonde Princeling had taken his lower lip between his teeth, resisting the impulsive thoughts that raged like fire within his mind and blood.
Dori had trouble trying to convince Ori that salads were good. So you joined, coating some of his salad with the light citrus dressing on the table. "Dressing makes it taste better", you encouraged the younger Dwarf.
Dwalin seemed to disagree with your words, searching his plate frantically for even the smallest traces of meat.
Bombur wasn't fussed, stuffing his face without a care. "Change the tune, why don't you?", Nori groaned eventually. "I feel like I'm at a funeral!".
"Did somebody die?", Oin echoed, his deafness making his counterpart harder to understand. Nonetheless, a change of music was in order and Bofur was happy to oblige. He clambered onto a stone platform to your own surprise and had started singing the merriest drinking song that you'd ever heard. The Dwarves all seemed to know it, clapping and banging on the table, Thorin seeming to tap the floor happily in rhythm. Bofur leapt around, offering you a friendly wink and smile whilst he danced with not a care in the world,
"So, the cat and the fiddle played 'hey diddle-diddle', a drink that'll wake the dead! He squeaked and he sawed and he quickened the tune! And the landlord shook the man in the moon, 'it's after 3!', he said!".
The song came to a crashing conclusion, dinner becoming a foodfight fest amongst the Dwarves. What mattered to you most was that they were all here, able to be merriful. It was a lovely dinner, however, Elrond and Lindir were unimpressed with their guests' manners. With good reason.
After the festivities of dinner, you had chosen to retreat from the terrace on your lonesome to the Dwarves' disappointment. You wished to explore the Elven libraries, whilst the Dwarves took to wreaking havoc on the Elves' pantry. They stayed in a small room, all together with many chairs, a few beds and just their bedrolls.
Night had finally descended upon Rivendell, the evening seeming milder to you. Thorin, Balin, Bilbo and Gandalf had all disappeared for the evening with Lord Elrond, nowhere to be seen by anyone for many hours now.
The moon shone through the curtains of the Dwarves' shared room, exhaustion having taken them all after their post-dinner snacks. The fire they'd made in the center of the room was now dying into embers. Snores were heard for halls beyond, the Dwarves draped both comfortably and uncomfortably over furniture, the floors and the bed. Fili was curled up by the bedside table within his bedroll. He'd bathed and washed his clothes, setting them to dry over the balcony railings, wearing the soft brown tunic and pants he'd brought as a spare. Everyone was dead asleep, yet his eyes were wide open. Even Kili, who had his limbs twisted in many directions on a hard chair had fallen into a slumber. His mind drifted to you, pondering if you were sleeping soundly or not. Despite how he should've been glad to not be sharing his space for a few nights, Fili found himself distraught. He'd gotten used to hushed words being shared before sleep would take you both. He got used to the feel of you within his arms. Your nightly embrace felt right, your bodies snuggled together perfectly. Although he'd never admitted it, Fili had slept better since having you beside him. The Prince realised that he missed you. Packing up his bedroll and abandoning his belongings, Fili crept past the sleeping bodies of his comrades, beginning to wander the halls in search for your quarters.
________________
Bodies molded together in passion, hot breaths mingling. Kisses were like fire upon the skin, strong arms holding you to the mattress in your shared pursuit of pleasure. One could only wish, you thought, placing down the book you'd tried to read in your attempt to relax and sleep. When your thoughts drifted to passion, Fili's expression and tone of voice came to mind. He'd looked at you on the battlefield like nothing else mattered, your skin still feeling his hard grip. The deep warmth of his skin and his callouses often had you fantasising on what a heated night would be like with the Princeling. It had tingles building between your legs. Aside from such thoughts, your mind had drifted to him. Fili must've been glad to be without you for a few nights, surely. He had not the faintest clue of your fantasies whilst you shared soft whispers and warm embraces during the colder nights, nor the feelings for him dancing in your heart. You missed him, unable to chase sleep without his arms around you. Heaving a sigh, you stood from the chair in which you'd perched, your nightdress falling to your knees. It was strappy and hemmed with lace around the chest and ends. It was a pure white colour, sheer with an underdress. The colour matched the silken sheets of your bed, you finally lifting them to climb in. You had to attempt sleep. In the dimness of your room, your mind raced, thinking back on the few handmaids that had tended to your room earlier in the evening. They pondered to you about your supposed partner, noting Fili's glaces and protectiveness over you. You had assured them that he was just a friend. You were you and he was a Prince. He could never—
"(Y/n)?". Your head lifted from your pillow and snapped to the open curtains at the front of your room, the blonde Princeling eyeing you from the doorway. Your eyes had widened in surprise, hardly expecting his company at this hour.
"Fili! I—", you fumbled, trying to cover yourself with your sheets.
"Don't!", he'd halted you. "It's fine, I don't mind". He wasn't exactly dressed properly either, you noted. His tanned tunic hung loosely around his broad figure, the first buttons undone to reveal his chest. The sleeves had been rolled up to reveal the strongly built muscles of his forearms, wearing nothing but a pair of pants with a dagger attached to his leg. "I came to check on you", the Princeling's voice softened amidst his confession. "I wanted to see if you were safe". Seeing you like this had him at a loss for words. Your smile made you seem relieved to see the Prince, and perhaps you were. His eyes seemed heavy with thought, coaxing your next question.
"Is something wrong, Fili?".
"No, no", he assured, offering you a smile. "The lads are keeping me up with their snoring. I was actually wondering if I could stay with you for the night?". You matched his expression amusedly.
"Of course", you nodded, beckoning him to join you. "I'd actually like some company tonight".
"Makes two of us", Fili sighed, straying forwards to your bed. Climbing in on your left, his eyes lit up with gratitude. "Thank you, (Y/n)". His body heat had radiated outwards once he'd settled in beside you. And despite how you weren't the slightest bit cold, you still felt drawn to his warmth. Fili had moved his body closer to your own almost out of instinct, lying so close that you could see the curves of his lashes and the depths of his kind gaze. "Are you alright?". The way you'd withdrawn from the terrace on your lonesome and your sleeplessness had the Prince worried that the Warg attack had unsettled you.
"Better now", you assured, a content sigh leaving your form. "Are you holding up okay?".
"Better now", Fili mirrored with a fond smile. "I feel like I can finally get some rest now, at least".
"Likewise". His brows knitted together in confusion, silently asking you to elaborate. "It was different, trying to sleep without you next to me tonight".
"You missed me??". Fili's heart had begun to hammer within his chest, his courage slowly dissipating with every breath he took. Trying to avoid getting any of his hopes up, his crystalline gaze monitored your expression for any signs that you may be uncomfortable.
"I've hardly slept a night without you since this quest began, Fili. It's hard for me not to miss you". His lips parted, brows raising in slight shock at your confession before he murmured,
"I missed you as well". His eyes had grown sadder, as if harbouring some guilt. "It's also why I chose to come here. I sleep better when I'm next to you".
"Me too", your hushed whisper barely left your lips before you pressed them to his softer ones. Fili's eyes fluttered closed at the contact, his heart having leapt into his throat. His heated hand found your waist, slowly tipping you onto your back with him hovering over you. The beads of his braided beard hitting your face tickled and shocked you with their cold, the kiss becoming devouring, his tongue working into the wet cavern of your mouth whilst your hands wove into his golden mane. His kiss had you seeing stars when his lips retreated from your own, trailing down the base of your throat in soft, searing touches. Fili's hand gripped the delicate material of your nightdress, declining to remove it without permission. When his lips reached your collarbone, his head lifted to tease you, pressing a feathersoft kiss to your forehead instead. Spindling his braid between your fingers, you smiled cheekily up at the Princeling, "The lads will definitely know something's up now. We'll both probably never hear the end of it". A soft laugh rumbled in his throat. Something told you that he didn't really mind the idea.
"We probably won't", he conceded, raising his brows almost suggestively. "But, maybe we should give them something to tease us about?". Heat traveled to your core, noting how his fingers began to thread into the material by your waist. You saw the glint of dark mischief playing in his gaze whilst it danced over your features.
"I quite like that idea". Your response coaxed him into resuming the heated ministrations that he was desperate to continue.

-- Extended Ending --
When the first light of the morning sun rose from over the cliffs of the valley, the soft light poured into your open room. The sheer curtains moved with the cool breeze, encouraging you to worm yourself deeper into the hot embrace of your lover. A delicious ache remained between your legs, reminding you of the previous evening's delightful happenings. You could still feel the hard grip he had when he'd parted your legs, the tingles from the desperate kisses you'd shared whilst he pumped rhythmically into your core, the smiles both loving and devious; and the way the heavens descended to the Earth when he'd helped you reach your high. Fili had held you afterwards, grounding you from the dizzying pleasure, cleaning you up and pressing sweet kisses across every inch of skin he'd been privileged to see. You truly didn't care for the vulgar sounds that slipped from both your lips the previous night, sighing contentedly in the embrace you shared with the Prince. As if being called by your thoughts, his crystalline eyes opened, blazed with an admiration and a laziness. They traced the features of your face, his callouses working imaginary patterns on the skin of your bare back. Brushing your messed fringe from your face, his lips finally pecked yours lovingly. A sigh left through his nostrils blissfully. Nothing could make this moment any better than it was...
The sound of steps stumbling into the room caught your shared attention, a distraught and exhausted looking Bofur standing in the doorway. "Just lettin' ye know that breakfast is ready", he grumbled, rubbing at his head. "And that the whole building heard y' last night". The both of you pursed your lips in restraint of your laughter, Bofur remaining unamused. "I had to try and sleep to multiple horrifying renditions of a Warg's call. Scarring t' say the least". Bofur forced a smile before leaving, "Glad t' see ye slept well, at least".
When his steps faded, the dam broke loose, your shared laughter pouring from your very hearts. Fili laid back, a shiteating grin on his face. You had to wipe at your eyes that became tearful with amusement.
Maybe this moment had just gotten a lot better?
