3月23日発売の『VOICE Newtype』No.083にて、小野賢章さんと畠中祐さんのインタビュー記事をそれぞれ執筆しています。

久々にお会いした小野賢章さんですが、いつも心地良い空気を作ってくださる方で、今回も楽しくお話しできました。 声優アワード主演男優賞についてはもちろん、近年の出演作から最近ハマっていることまで、たっぷりと伺っています。お写真も素敵なので要チェックです！

畠中祐さんは1年前のKIKIぶり。当時語っていた「役者として糧になるような刺激」をこの1年でたっぷり得た畠中さんはさらなる刺激を求めて活動されていました。最近ご覧になった『偶然と想像』について、わたしが濱口監督を取材していたこともあり深くお話しできて嬉しかったです。

Nakajima Yoshiki's "Tomorrow is Better Than Today" #4

...The makeup artist gave me a coat of base makeup to make me look unhealthy, but then they said "huh....Nakajima-kun, that suits you..." I'm happy, but what am I supposed to feel about this (lol)

This is the fourth part of a series of translations of Nakajima Yoshiki’s first year of KIKI VOICE diaries. The entire post is crossposted onto Wordpress but can be seen under the cut!

#4: "Staff meeting: 'Huh? Cool?'" Original date: October 20, 2016

Hi everyone, it's Nakajima Yoshiki. It's October already! Somehow autumn brought the cold upon us from god-knows-where, have you been feeling alright? My infamous runny nose is getting down to business. I'm dying. Well, well, let's get to the main topic 'cuz it seems that there's a lot of pictures this time! I took a LOT of pictures this month!

Just like those. You see, last month, I carelessly said something in this column.

Next month! I wanna wear a costume! I wanna...! I wanna...! *echoes*

I actually didn't have any plans of being in costume then, though. Isn't that normal? But just as I was thinking "aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAHHH what should I write for Octoberrrrr," KIKI's editor came to me with a great suggestion.

"How about you have a photoshoot wearing a costume?"

Somehow!! They took the bait!! (lol) I'm grateful!!

And so!! With the full cooperation of KIKI by Voice Newtype, Nakajima Yoshiki got his first photoshoot in costume!! Here's the finished product!!

Pros are amazin'.

With the power of the makeup artist and cameraman, Nakajima can pull off a costume with this atmosphere...amazin'. The concept was "a dangerous doctor". It was rough! By the way! I messed up that coat myself! Using fake blood for the first time!

Spilling stuff here and there,

That "I did it!!!" face.

This is amazing. It got all red. Somehow, it's amazingly gross. I used two kinds of fake blood, "Freshly spilled blood and blood which had been spilled some time ago!" The staff in the area were also very hyped. It took me quite a while. I don't know how many people had went past by then.

And then, when I was done messing up the white coat, the makeup artist gave me a coat of base makeup to make me look unhealthy, but then they said "huh....Nakajima-kun, that suits you..." It's supposed to be makeup of the dead, but somehow it feels faintly like Visual Kei makeup... I'm happy, but what am I supposed to feel about this (lol) The makeup artist actually took some of the fake blood on the bowl and put some on my face with their fingers!

Even the photogs and staff told me "you look cooler than expected". Good job Nakajima. From then on I thought I'd get more interested in costumes and cosplay. (How fickle...) I got all caught up in the lighting and the set, and enthralled by the overall composition...it's not surprising that I had fun in such an exciting set! (lol)

And that's why, for this month's column, we took a tremendous amounts of pictures. Have this little photo gallery.

My own glasses were used as props. I had a terrifying face on.

Also take note that there were signs of resistance from a victim left on the cuff of my coat.

This one's my favorite.

There's really a lot lot lot LOT more shots, But let's cut it off here now! I dunno where I'd even use those!! (lol) But I think I understand people who get addicted to cosplay a bit more now. There's the "I can be someone other than myself!" feeling, I wonder if this is how actors feel. Even when we were putting on makeup, it was interesting to see how my face became paler and paler and how my hair became different from the usual. And cosplayers put on their own makeup and do their own costumes! That's amazing. I wanna do this again, but I'll DEFINITELY still borrow power from the professionals (lol)

Just like I did last month, I'll write something I wanna try doing, who knows maybe they'll lemme do it again (lol) Here goes.

Someday, I'd wanna collab with other voice actors doing columns for KIKI, and do projects with them! KIKI's also serializing a lot of my senpai and friends, and my column's got no theme anyways, yanno? That's all I wanna do! D'ya hear that right? (lol)

I wanna get into doing more interesting things! That's my thoughts from this month! November's just gonna get colder and colder, so be careful not to catch a cold, everyone!

Hello everyone! This is Umehara Yuuichiro. We just finished the photoshoot for Newtype Voice. Thank you very much. As you can see behind me, you can tell that we are in a hotel suite room. We were able to take many different shots. Of course we took shots in other locations besides the hotel room. I think it was a beautifully done photoshoot.  Thank you for your support! Bye bye~
