That’s actually likely the real reason Square decided to make “The First Soldier” a mobile game story. It’s not that the writing is bad or any lesser than their other stories, it’s because they wrote a whole ass narrative about the realistic horrors of imperialism and child soldiers. They keep having these kids dying and killing each other in the wake of Shinra’s casual genocide.

Can’t show kids brutally dying and stabbing/shooting each other in a teen-rated game, really. YOU CAN KINDA SHOW IT IN CHIBI FORM THOUGH.

Buck has always been just “Buck” so “Pops” falls to Tommy as his moniker. No one tells him to do that but he likes to remind Tommy that he’s part of the family (especially if he wants something from Tommy)

i will forever have a love/hate but mostly hate relationship with this butch interaction bc (if you dont have the dlc) you're literally abt to sacrifice yourself and all you can do is beg him to go in for u which obviously he WONT, and hes like HELL NO MAN! Javert’s favorite wii game? oh, it’s Just Dance. which one? oh, the whole saga. he really enjoys the lore, but the dances are fun as well. he really likes the night swan dancer, but plays her songs with the volume turned the whole way down. what? oh, haha, yeah, he’s not a big fan of majesty i guess! now his favorite DS game is a whole different story

okay but following the trend of adding a more obscure game in the collection, fully remaking the N64 games (who are from what I know in sore need of one, much more than the PS2 games who might get away with a few tweaks) would be the biggest-balled move from Konami

finally got to play through naruto ultimate ninja connections which was supposedly the one game that would feature the most important boss fights (which are literally copy pastes from the remastered past games) across all games for people who wanted to get into the series

well guess which boss fight they left out and what generic pvp they replaced it with instead

this is gonna sound so backhanded but after 3 letdowns in a row from pokemon (followed by a game which isnt terrible but i dislike because of how much it fucked up the plot of sm), then a game that i genuinely really love and want more in the style of and largely because of how it deviates from the main series, im genuinely so shocked that i love scarlet and violet as much as i do. like when i was going through that tutorial i was just cautious and waiting for the other show to drop and be bored at best, but like, graphic glitches aside, it never came. it stayed really fun and charming
