I redownloaded that MLP mod and made my ponysona in it. Her cutie mark is a paint brush if you can tell rip! Anyways I fucking love her and I actually plan to do that hair dye job on myself once my hair is longer.

i made….. a ponysona

ive wanted to make a sona for SO LONG… i definitely made attempts in the past… but I never really felt connected?? to the characters i made? if that makes sense? like, i could certainly create a character concept that i liked and found aesthetically pleasing, but it never felt like me necessarily

then i saw someone who made a kinsona (where you basically take an existing character and then recreate them based on yourself, your personality, traits, etc) and that sounded cool and based. so i gave a go at making one of those, and.. heres how that turned out!

she’s… some sort of mix of twilight and fluttershy. mostly twilight. think twilight’s perfectionism + fluttershy’s anxiety

Bio:

Aster grew up on a farm with her family. After demonstrating an interest in magic as a filly, she moved to Canterlot to pursue an education in the magical arts. Despite her aptitude for magic, she never received her cutie mark- no matter what she tried. The other students’ teasing eventually became ostracization, and Aster’s self-consciousness began to eat her up from the inside. She became reclusive, fearful of her peers’ scrutiny and judgement, and threw herself into her studies- partially to have an excuse to not attend social functions, and partially to distract herself from her ever-growing insecurity. She never leaves home without throwing on a sweater or cardigan to cover her flank.

Despite her friendly and pleasant exterior, she takes everything she does very seriously. She expects complete perfection from herself, and is desperate to avoid failure in all forms- because maybe, if she’s perfect in every other way, no one can mock her for what she’s lacking.

Aster soon received an assignment that required her to be thrust into a new environment, with new ponies- maybe here, the walls she’s built to protect herself will slowly melt, and she’ll learn more about what friendship really means.

21. weirdest thing you've ever drawn?

oh I've got plenty of weird stuff hiding in the deep recesses of my old hard drives, but mostly just in the sense that I drew it when I was 12 and now I find it cringe 💀 the most fun one though is a ponysona of robin lord taylor (the actor) that I drew as a gift for a friend from DA who really liked him (and from memory I think they ended up getting a plushie made based on it?)

I wish I had actual examples but my browser likes to clear my history after a while and I've been BUSY 😭 based on the references I had to search for my last post they'd probably assume I'm having a kid or that I'm getting into gardening

also it's very fun to look at my search history on my ipad specifically bc I only use it for art, so it ends up being like. 20 searches in a row of the same fucking 3 anime characters (I'm sure you can guess which ones) and looking at that you might also think I'm a little unhinged

Everytime I struggle to draw something I just start drawing ponies instead. It's my one thing I can always draw regardless of anything else. Years and years as a kid of making ponysonas has trained me in a way that cannot be untrained.

First ponysona and OC

The bronies got their claws in me again and i'm falling into the pit of MLP drawings and OCs (help) I haven't actually drawn a lot of mlp (except those pony hearts as a kid) despite having been a fan for min. 8 years lol. Anyway, threw together a pony-sona

i guess it's drudging up old feelings of being a really unwell child on deviantart and being met with the same mocking attitude i got from my dad by a bunch of 15-20+ year old men on deviantart, and the other preteens surrounding me mimicking those behaviors to try and appeal to those men. i was in a group called "sicksonas" or "sickponies" which were just essentially ponysonas based around your trauma and it was a very good way for me to express my feelings as child going through intensive emotional abuse and hospitalizations, and its what led to me being groomed by an older guy on deviantart because he made parody "fan"art of my "sicksona", and hid his anger behind him pretending to try and offer "actual criticism." and because i was abused and sheltered and 12 years old i didn't understand that he was making fun of me, i thought his criticism was valid and that i needed to "fix" my art. this eventually lead to me being groomed by him to be essentially a gore fetish machine for him and a bunch of other people who acted like that.

and i'm oversharing mostly because while my case is extreme, it's like, man the kids you're making fun of are not well. you are not making fun of children who are okay. i don't understand where the justification of mocking kids for cutting themselves is that theyre just "privileged spoiled children who need to make up issues by hurting themselves" because if you know anything about child psychology it's very clear that cutting and self injurious behavior is nowhere near normal or okay for a child to do and is almost always indicative of child abuse. and people know this, they know this and then they just conveniently ignore it when they want to make fun of the edgy emo kids on deviantart. it just breaks my heart. it reminds me that no ones willing to actually listen to them, and thats why they end up in the positions they're in.

i'm definitely over reacting to this drawing, but also, i mean, its on theme with my blog. every single drawing i do, all the art i put my effort into, its a homage to the 13 year old i was online. it's a love letter to every edgy oversharing mspaint drawing done on deviantart, an appreciative work for the art that i made and loved when i was younger, that helped me get through a genuinely bad time. i've spent too long embarrassed and ashamed of myself for my weird "creepypasta-esque" edgy teenage deviantart art, im sick of it. that IS a real expression of emotion and abuse i was going through and that needs to be respected, and if no one else is going to do it, i will.
