Watch out! It's Nightmare Gaze, or "what if there was a Nightmare version of Looksee?" Rather than looking out into the world to find the things that bring them joy, Nightmare Gaze tries to find that which would cause them harm before it can do so.... which prevents them from engaging with the brighter elements of life. If misery loves company, why wouldn't fear love the same?

Some of the stylization in this piece is inspired by the Nightmare designs by @janegumball, which you should take a look at if you haven't already seen.

Teensy bit of ponysona lore and some luna hcs below cut :3

Ok so Luna is a bat pony to me cause literally all of her guards are so it just makes sense. My version of her looked fairly similar to her original design in the show (the one that has the lighter blues) before the thing that turns her into nightmare moon corrupted her (I'm sorry I'm a fake fan I forgot what the thing is called 😔). During her time trapped on/in the moon she was stuck as nightmare moon, so even though she's no longer corrupted some of nightmare moon still remains.

This shows in small ways like her horn having a bit of a bump on it where there used to be a whole protrusion (basically like her horn branched off into 2 horns), the tips of her mane being darker in coloration, and her fangs being a bit larger than the average bat pony.

She also has some marks left from being imprisoned, like the lighter circular patch of color on her face and the multiple clumps of almost white hair. I might make it so the lighter patch on her face is like some sort of mark from the main 6 blasting the corruption away or something idk.

Anyway my ponysona (I still haven't named him 💀 I'm kinda thinking something to do with night or stars idk) has been sorta adopted by Luna after she came back from the moon. Luna hasn't told anyone where she found him cause I want him to have come from some sort of evil. Like he's not a changeling, maybe something like when Luna made the tantibus to punish herself in her dreams it at some point somehow created a pony? Idk something like that.. also yes he's an alicorn cause I said so 😤

There's actually some symbolism in this drawing too :3 like my sonas horn crosses over Luna's horn cause he's younger and therefore is like "next" if that makes sense. But then Luna's wing crosses over my sonas cause she's like a mentor/mother figure to him (like she literally took him under her wing)
