“Look, it’s raining.”

Your boyfriend points at the street, observing the water droplets racing on the thick glass of your kitchen window and listening to the faint pelting outside.

“Cool.”

You shrug, too busy making tea to look at him. Jisung turns his head to you and observes you for a moment. He admires how your body drowns in his oversized hoodie he could also claim as yours and how your messy hair gets into your vision. His eyes soften when a focused pout appears on your face.

He glances back at the dark street when an idea pops into his mind.

“Do you have anything important tomorrow?” This time his whole body turns to face you.

“No, just some shopping maybe, why?”

Your gaze finally shifts from the two cups placed on the clean counter to what you recognize as a hint of a smile on Jisung’s face. You already know this look; the hesitant smirk tells you he’s up to something.

And you’re right—after not even a second he’s next to you. He grabs your wrist gently and quickly leads you out of your apartment. Your endless questions about where you’re going and what’s going on get ignored by Jisung, as he only responds with little chuckles that escape his mouth.

When you exit the building, you finally understand his plan. He gives you one last smirk before pulling you into the pouring rain. Goosebumps spike up on your body when the heavy raindrops pound against your skin and your eyes blink uncontrollably as you struggle to keep your head up. The loud downpour hitting the ground blocks Jisung’s words. Your clothes are immediately soaked, trapping your bodies in wet materials, but Jisung doesn’t seem to mind.

He leads you onto the middle of the narrow street after making sure no cars are around, draws your body close to him, and pulls you into an electric kiss.

Jisung kisses you slowly. The taste of your chapstick mixes with fresh rain as the water gets between your lips. You squint your eyes, hating the way water blurs your vision, so you wrap your hands around his neck and pull him closer, hoping his height will block the rain, and start giggling when you feel the raindrops dripping from his wet hair on your forehead instead. Jisung smiles into the kiss and wraps his arms around your waist, pressing his drenched body to yours. You feel a hot blush cover your face as butterflies tickle your stomach from the inside.

His warm hand grabs yours and lifts it in the air. He starts to sway slowly. The water under your feet creates a melody for you, and you laugh at his cheesy behavior when he spins you around.

“There’s no music.” You giggle at the way your soaked hair hits your giddy face.

“So what?” Jisung brushes his hand through your hair, his soft eyes staring right into your heart.

Rain keeps pouring on your heads as you dance in his arms under the warm streetlights, forgetting the feeling of your clothes sticking to your body. Your cheek presses into his soaked hoodie, puddles splash lightly with every step on the concrete ground. Your nose hurts from the amount of fresh air you breathe in, and a gentle smile appears on your face as you listen to the loud pattering hitting the road and distant thunder combined with Jisung’s steady heartbeat. You close your eyes, wanting to remember every detail of this moment and wonder how, after so many years, Jisung still makes your heart race with excitement.

“We’ll be sick.”

You realize, admiring the light scent of his cologne.

“Yeah, we will,” he rests his head on yours, “but we’ll be sick together, so it’s fine.”
