Al-Khidr (/ˈxÉȘdər/) (Arabic: Ù±Ù„Ù’ŰźÙŽŰ¶ÙŰ±, romanized: al-Khaឍir), also transcribed as al-Khadir, Khader, Khidr, Khizr, Kathir, Khazer, Khadr, Khedher, Khizir, Khizar, Khilr, is a figure described but not mentioned by name in the Quran as a righteous servant of God possessing great wisdom or mystic knowledge. In various Islamic and non-Islamic traditions, Khidr is described as a messenger, prophet or wali,[3][4] who guards the sea, teaches secret knowledge[5] and aids those in distress.[6] He prominently figures as patron of the Islamic saint ibn Arabi.[7] The figure of al-Khidr has been syncretized over time with various other figures including DĆ«raoĆĄa[8] and SorĆ«sh in Iran,[9][10][11] Sargis the General[12][13] and Saint George in Asia Minor and the Levant,[14] Samael (the divine prosecutor) in Judaism, Elijah among the Druze, John the Baptist in Armenia, and Jhulelal[15] in Sindh and Punjab in South Asia.[16][17][18][19][20][21]
Though not mentioned by name in the Quran, he is named by Islamic scholars as the figure described in Quran 18:65–82 as a servant of God who has been given "knowledge" and who is accompanied and questioned by the prophet Musa (Moses) about the many seemingly unfair or inappropriate actions he (Al-Khidr) takes (sinking a ship, killing a young man, repaying inhospitality by repairing a wall). At the end of the story Khidr explains the circumstances unknown to Moses that made each of the actions fair and appropriate.
All Time Muslim Fish Guy
The name "al-Khiᾍr" shares exactly the same triliteral root as the Arabic al-akhᾍar or al-khaᾍra, a root found in several Semitic languages meaning "green" or "verdant" (as in al-Qubbah al-Khaᾍrā’ or the Green Dome). Therefore, the meaning of the name has traditionally been taken to be "the Green One" or "the Verdant One".
(brb syncretizing him with the green man)
Next, the Servant of God kills a young man. Moses again cries out in astonishment and dismay, and again the Servant reminds Moses of his warning, and Moses promises that he will not violate his oath again, and that if he does he will excuse himself from the Servant's presence ... The Servant of God replies" .. .And as for the boy, his parents were believers and we feared lest he should make disobedience and ingratitude to come upon them. God will replace the child with one better in purity, affection and obedience"
hey whats up with this story
oh! probably related to that story about elijah where he seems to do bad stuff and then explains why its actually good. some people think this story comes from that one, but that one is first attested after the quran, so it might be that story comes from the quran

Roger Taylor live at the Astoria Theatre in London, UK - April 3, 1999
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fan Stories
“The last night of Roger's UK tour finally arrived, and it had by far the largest audience. With numbers at most other shows ranging between 300 and 500, the London Astoria was packed full on both floors with over 2000 fans. Whilst certain people (you know who you are!) had waited since 8am to ensure their place in the front row, Rachel Brown, Matt Tunney, Dan Wilkes of "Maybe?" fame and myself strolled along twenty minutes before the show to find the queue stretching for about half a mile around the venue, but we all still managed to get where we wanted to be. After Treana Morris' brilliant support, charmingly described by the Scotsman beside me as "the best support act he'd ever seen", Roger took to the stage. The roof of the venue was close to being lifted off for the rest of the night, as RMT blistered through his usual set-list to thunderous applause, singing, screaming and the occasional bra-throwing. Alas, no unexpected surprises were afoot; Brian had disappeared to Los Angeles after Tuesday's guest appearance in Wolverhampton, and the only other celebrities to be found were those spotted after the show & Bob Geldof, Tony Hadley and George Doors amongst others. Special mentions go to Becky, Helen, Lulu, Deborah, Nicky, Frank, Jen, Miklos, Khizar and the gorgeous Julia for making the evening even better. That was a night, that was :)” - Khashoggi

Magic of Turkish Festivals: A Journey Through Culture and Tradition
Tumblr media
Turkey, a nation where East meets West, boasts a rich tapestry of cultures and traditions. This vibrant blend is beautifully reflected in its numerous festivals, each offering a unique window into the country's soul. From religious holidays steeped in spiritual significance to lively folk celebrations and modern cultural events, Turkey's festivals promise an unforgettable experience for every visitor.
Tumblr media
Embracing Religious Traditions: Kurban Bayramı and ƞeker Bayramı
Turkish Islamic holidays hold immense importance for the nation's predominantly Muslim population. Kurban Bayramı, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael. Celebrated after the Hajj pilgrimage, it's a time for families to gather, share special meals, and donate meat to the less fortunate. ƞeker Bayramı, or the Sugar Feast, marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. Characterized by exchanging sweets and visiting loved ones, it's a joyous occasion overflowing with sweet treats and vibrant decorations.
Celebrating National Pride: Cumhuriyet Bayramı
Every year on October 29th, Turkey erupts in a fervor of national pride as the country commemorates Cumhuriyet Bayramı, or Republic Day. This momentous occasion marks the anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey in 1923. Grand parades, vibrant street decorations, and heart-stirring performances pay homage to the nation's rich history and the legacy of its founding father, Mustafa Kemal AtatĂŒrk.
Welcoming Spring: Hıdırellez
As winter loosens its grip and spring awakens the land, Turkey comes alive with the joyous festivities of Hıdırellez. Celebrated on May 6th, this ancient festival marks the meeting of Prophet Hızır (Khizar) and Elias (Elijah). It's a time for welcoming new beginnings, fertility, and abundance. People tie colorful wishes onto trees, prepare special foods, and participate in lively gatherings, all while basking in the beauty of the blossoming spring.
A Whirling Dervish Ceremony: A Spiritual Experience
Beyond the festivities, Turkish festivals also offer a glimpse into the country's profound spiritual traditions. The Mevlana Whirling Dervishes Ceremony, held in Konya, is a mesmerizing spectacle. This ritualistic dance by Sufi dervishes embodies their journey towards spiritual perfection through love and devotion. The twirling white robes and rhythmic music create a truly captivating atmosphere.
A Celebration of Cinema: The International Istanbul Film Festival
Turkey's cultural scene flourishes not just with traditional events but also with modern extravaganzas. The International Istanbul Film Festival is a premier event that attracts international acclaim. Held annually, it showcases a diverse selection of films from around the world, providing a platform for cultural exchange and artistic appreciation.

A truly outstanding and perplexing work of poetry from the pen of visionary poet, thinker and philosopher Allama iqbal.
It's an imaginative conversation between Archangel jibreel ( Gabriel) and fallen angel/jinn iblish (satan).
I don't know what allama iqbal truly wanted to say through this poetry as it's difficult to come to conclusion whether there is any hidden message in it for believers or it's just written to imagine/show Satan's point of view as we can feel from reading it that Satan's answers are too strong and deceiving.
Gabriel's character here seems to be mere Questioner or should I say used just like a prop to explore Satan's point of view. Only in third question we can feel that there is a tone of complaint or disappointment from Gabriel.
The last verse of this poetry is particularly provocative where Satan self proclaims his superiority over Gabriel by saying " I rankle in the heart of God like a thorn" Meaning that's his importance and all you (Gabriel) do is chant "Allah hu" "Allah hu" "Allah hu".
Perhaps one has to truly understand meaning of "Allah hu" to withstand Satan's strong arguments.
My favorite couplet is probably where Satan talks about battle between good and evil with a metaphor of storm and also use of that line containing Quranic phrase "taqnatu" And "la taqnatu" Was brilliant wordplay.
#iqbal #allamaiqbal #muhammediqbal #thepoetofeast #jibreel #iblish #jibreeloiblish #gabriel
Apart from that there are many interesting bits like Satan's description of this world in first answer, his description of heaven in second answer, describing humans as handful of dust, calling khizar and iliyas(elijah) as no match against him etc.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has instructed banks to comply with the guidelines of its recently issued circular on import facilitation. According to journalist Ali Khizar, the central bank has warned banks of punitive action in case of non-compliance. SBP has strictly instructed (verbally) banks trading heads to comply (punitive action for non-compliance) to the guidelines of recently issued

Races Among the Stars 4: Khizar
When folks think of sapient species living on Castrovel, they probably think Lashunta or Formian, with a handful more thinking of the insular elves. However, they are not the only sapient beings living on the jungle world.
Indeed, deep in the jungles of Castrovel dwells a race of humanoid plants that have dwelled for a long time on the remote continent of Ukulam, evolving from carrion-eating plants that developed the ability to seek out new cadavers and food sources, slowly becoming fully-fledged sapient and civilized beings, which eventually reached out to the rest of civilized life on Castrovel, and have reached the stars, most notably colonizing many of the ice wells of the neighboring planet Aballon.
Curiously, in the rules of the game, khizar count as plant-like humanoids, rather than as plants, even though other plant creatures would become playable races later on. This can be chocked up to general early-development nervousness about giving full plant immunities to a playable race. Future races would either follow suit or allow them to be plants but strip them of most of those immunities.
In any case, the khizar resemble viney humanoids with two arms and legs, as well as an extra set of vine tendrils protruding from their backs which are mostly vestigial, able to support the actual arms, but not handle items on their own. Most prominent, however, is their “head”, which is not a head at all, but rather a seedpod, most closely resembling Earth’s “Chinese-Lantern” or Bladder Cherry seedpod during winter when it loses most of the skin leaving a lattice of veins, with a large round fruit or seed in the center. This seedpod glows from within, communicating the khizar’s emotional state, which is ironic because the khizar are blind, sensing the world through vibration and the ability to sense life. (Perhaps this shifting glow evolved to signal to pollinators in the distant past?)
Deeply individual, the so-called lanternfolk are eager to wander far afield in search of new experiences, and among their own kind do not compete for anything other than food sources. However, they have a deep appreciation for the balance of nature, and will fight viciously to defend it from being despoiled, something that has guaranteed a large membership in the Xenowardens.
Without any real interest in an economy as a species, as well as the protected nature of their continent of origin, khizar are mostly ignored on the galactic stage, but they are eager to learn and understand other peoples, finding fascination on the perspectives of other living things.
Khizar are durable and open to new things, but their bodies are not the most agile.
No matter what their creature type is in the rules, they do photosynthesize, and can even provide oxygen to other species in situations where that is relevant.
The blurred lines between plant and animal with the khizar does mean they are still vulnerable to effects that target either, but their plant physiology does grant them appropriate resistances. Their photosynthesis allows them to go longer without direct nutrient intake too.
Like many other species on Castrovel, the lanternfolk are capable of limited telepathy, communicating with those that can understand them.
That detail is important, as the khizar are otherwise mute, as well as blind, only able to perceive their surroundings through sensing vibrations and a supernatural life-sight, as well as a sense of taste in their hands.
Their telepathy can also communicate with other plant creatures that have some measure of intelligence, and gives them insight into the wants and needs of the biosphere around them, as well as how to survive in it.
Khizar seek to understand, so naturally they make good intuitive biohackers and mystics. Their eagerness to explore and learn makes them a natural pick for the envoy class as well. Khizar may have difficulty using and understanding advanced technology without adapting it to their senses, making mechanics and technomancers less common, but not impossible. Their high constitution makes them well suited for nanocytes and vanguards, as well as tanky soldiers and solarians. However, their dexterity penalty makes operatives and ranged builds somewhat difficult. Witchwarpers perhaps represent the most extreme instance of the species’ exploratory nature, as not only do they wish to understand the universe as it is, but also how it might be. In any case, lanternfolk can be the basis for deeply curious explorers that are quite different from most of their compatriots, while also having motivations rooted in ecological preservation.
That’s about it for today, tune in tomorrow for a race from another part of the Pact Worlds!
