The Exterminator’s Guild by Viirin
Faction Name: Exterminators Guild
Main Faction Concept: Originally developed during the settling of Stone's Throw by the Khaloric Swarm by order of Empress Dorian Cook, the Exterminators have always maintained a respectable position in whatever civilization they have ever been part of, usually focused on emergency defense, scouting, diplomat escort, army support, and civil welfare.
The Exterminators Guild receives funding from businesses, religions, governments, individuals, their own production, adventuring, donations, and many other sources. Low- or Null- income people can set quests for home repair, deliveries, monster slayings, or anything else. Normally such quests would be undesirable to an exterminator, but since the income doesn't necessarily come from the client, helping an old man to fix his fence might yield three months salary in gold because it was intentionally overpaid by the state. Sometimes no pay is given, sometimes minor pay compared to the quest requirements. Those who earn respect in their local guild branch easily get compensated for their patience and obedience, and clients who invent complaints are easily refused further services henceforth.
Component Concepts
Minor Concept: Thematic Consequence (+1 Unity) No one knows why, but preparing for the wrong type of dungeon often gets Exterminators killed, almost as if they're being directly targeted for being stupid. Wear a fur coat inside a fire dungeon? You're probably going to have to fight something that breathes fire, whereas the other party members wearing smarter clothing don't get targeted at all, or see a creature with such an ability to begin with.
Minor Concept: Magic Door (+1 Influence) The Exterminators agree that dungeon entrances are a strange phenomenon. A 20 foot wide hill might have a dungeon entrance on one side, and go straight forward for a full mile, even though that shouldn't be possible given the geographical constraints. What's more, that the area around an entrance and the type of dungeon seem to blend into one another; sometimes you have to travel quite a bit inside to even know you're in a dungeon because it looks like the city's walls or whatever else.
Minor Concept: Mutation Acquisition (+1 Military) It's a widely known fact, to Exterminators at least, is that creatures in dungeons gain odd abilities periodically, and those abilities or other types of changes that make the creatures more dangerous often spread through the entire population of that type of monster, but only if it is killed inside the dungeon and its body left there. Learning new fighting abilities due to ever-changing combatants serves a purpose.
Minor Concept: Quest Reward (+1 Unity) The fact that any quest might reward s/he/they who complete it a substantially higher pay than would otherwise be expected unites the Exterminators in the shared hope of a gambler. On the client side, it makes those excessively wealthy happy to save so much money as long as they don't overdo it, and those destitute are pleased to be treated with dignity.
Moderate Concept: Expel Overflow (+2 Espionage) When dungeons aren't invaded for long enough and the creatures inside are able to breed to the point they get crowded, the excess population leaves the safety of their dungeon and come out to the vicinity, becoming even more aggressive than usual. Information about the other side is easily able to be acquired this way. Luckily, the Guild has offices near each such known entrance.
Moderate Concept: Treasure Chests (+2 Influence) Sometimes some type of container might be located within a dungeon. Sometimes they even seem to appear just behind an adventurer as soon as they turn their back- turning around again could get them something valuable or useful. Because of the spreading of this knowledge, the Exterminators Guild periodically acquires some hopeful volunteers, since it isn't safe for someone without training to enter such places.
Advanced Concept: Untraceable Income (+4 Wealth) The centuries-old tradition of ensuring accredited volunteers never learn the connection between their payment and their client ensures professional behavior is observed in all interactions, no matter how major or minor. No government or other organization makes attempts to demand such information because it's so intentionally convoluted on every level.
Heritage Concept: Insect Hive (+3 Influence) The Exterminators Guild was first formed of ray-das, but wildwings joined almost immediately after. Since humanoid insects breed and mature at a higher rate than mammals and have more potent forms of pack instincts and tradition, most Exterminators Guilds primarily employ spiders and moths (drider, galan, wildwing).

In the world of Amarithia...
In the world of Amarithia, which is much like our own, there is a species of humanoid creatures called Chatlau. They are like humans, except they have various horns and long pointy ears.
In the northern parts, the Chatlau are hated, many are even executed for having their blood. There is a resistance in the north, based in the Khalor forests near Mount Khalor. It was founded 50 years ago, and many times have the humans tried to stop their resistance, but they’ve stayed mostly hidden. They have studied the ancient Chatluc culture and magics, living in their temples and grottos in the mountain side and throughout the forests. They’ve revived a particular practice of the ancient Chatluc, which also plays into their magic. The practice of covering their bodies in tattoos that run along what they call the Voluthra, lines of Volut, or life energy, throughout the body. When they tap into their Volut and use their Chatluc magic, their tattoos begin to glow. The colour of the tattoos when they glow depends on the person using them. For instance, Gimal, a high-ranked Chatlau in the resistance who always wears a mask and never reveals his face or real name, has tattoos that glow a deep yet bright red. Whereas Gimal’s partner, Baltazar’s tattoos glow green.
The effects of the Volut are also different for each person. Gimal’s Volut grant him great speed, and superhuman reaction time and agility. He once even jumped to the top floor of a 3 story building once. And Baltazar’s Volut allow him to produce electricity from his body as well as increased physical capabilities, using this to disarm and stun his opponents, or if need be, straight up killing them. Though he tends to try to avoid killing people himself, unlike Gimal. Theres also the dwarf Kaimen , who can manipulate earth , And Rowan , the blind , whos senses (other than sight) are incredibly heightened to the point that he can even see where people are by feeling vibrations through the earth , or feeling the movements in the air , or their heartbeat.
Not all Chatlau are great people though, such as the terrorist group known as The Chatluc Resistance Against Humans, or CRAH. Though theyre also a resistance against humans and their name sounds relatively good, their ways of resisting against humans is not the most peaceful or morally good, often invading human land and massacring them instead of just defending themselves against human invaders. They also aren’t too fond of other Chatlau that aren’t a part of them, as they wish to be the most powerful over both Chatlau and Humans. This means that the Northern Chatlau Resistance, or NCR (the group chat Gimal and Baltazar are part of) does not have the best relationship with them, as the NCR try to bridge the gap between the 2 species and generally will only hurt humans if they themselves attack them.
Some of the highest ranked members of CRAH consist of Dawnstar, the golden king and leader of the CRAH, Calamity, Vulcan and Behemoth. Many of them, especially the higher ranking ones, do not use their real names, rather Aliases that reflect their powers, and will often wear specific outfits. They do this as even their acts would be looked down upon by many other Chatlau, such as the NCR and the Central Chatlau Community, or CCC, who try to take more peaceful approaches to their goals and try to maintain order and revive the old Chatluc traditions.
Dawnstar, the leader of the CRAH, has the ability to produce light from his body. He uses this to blind people, or concentrating the light and creating immense amounts of heat, able to cause this to combust or ignite. He wears a very regal outfit, mostly consisting of gold and black, with a crown, magnificent body armour and a cape, and sometimes a helmet. Most the hard parts of his outfit are gold, such as the crown and armour, whereas most of the softer parts such as the material underneath the amour and his cape are black.
Calamity can cause things to combust, though the further away from his body the point of combustion is, the weaker the explosion is, and takes a little bit longer to activate. Though that does not mean that you can beat him by simply staying far away, his attacks are still intense and deadly. He can also use the explosions to propel himself forward, meaning that staying far away may be a bit hard unless your power makes you fast, like Gimal. He wears a more laid back and less dark outfit, mostly consisting of blacks, reds and oranges. He has an orange mask over his eyes, with 3 points reminiscent of an explosion. He also has 2 leather-looking black things along the sides of his upper body and around his arms, with red spikes on his shoulder blades also reminiscent of an explosion. For lower garments he wears a red flowing garment with orange flame design coming from the bottom, with black pants underneath
Vulcan can cause things to melt, but of course the higher the melting temperature of something is, the harder it is to melt. Ice, which melts at 0 Degrees would be incredibly easy, but Steel, melting at 1370 Degrees would be quite a bit harder. He can’t cause organic material to melt though, meaning he can’t melt animals, people or plants directly. He wears whites, blacks, reds and yellows, having a fairly regal design also, with a crown, body armour and a cape, though appearing more like a fantasy elf prince than a menacing evil king.
And finally, Behemoth, whos power allows him to grow his body up to 5 times its average size. Though he has limitations too. The bigger he makes himself, the more strain it puts on his body and the more painful it gets, he could only stay in his 5x size for about 10 minutes before the pain became unbearable. When he becomes bigger, his appearance also becomes more monstrous, growing fangs and claws and his skin becoming slightly blue, with the intensity of these appearance changes increasing the bigger he gets. He could technically make his body even bigger, but the duration and pain of it gets too intense so he never does it. He normally only goes to 2x, as any further is often unnecessary. He doesn’t have really one solid outfit, but there is consistency between his clothing when in any battle or dangerous situation. He never wears a shirt, and wears very large and flowing lower garments, leaving room for his growth. He mostly wears earthy colours such as browns, greens and oranges.
2x size (12 feet): 4 hours 30 minutes  3x size (18 feet): 1 hour 30 minutes 4x size (24 feet): 30 minutes 5x size (30 feet): 10 minutes
Dawnstar is the only significant member of CRAH who has Chatluc Voluthra tattoos, as he was one of the original members of NCR, which is where he learnt to use his power. He also took the knowledge of how he learnt to use his power, and the experience he had teaching others in NCR to use theirs, to form CRAH and teach Chatlau how to use their powers, but without the tattoos as he wanted to distance his group from NCR and CCC. His tattoos are one of the major reasons he made his outfit and why it covers most his entire body besides his face (sometimes even covering his face), opposed to Calamity and Behemoth, whos outfits reveal quite a bit of skin. He wanted to hide his past association with such Chatlau groups. Though him having an outfit that covers so much has a major downside, it limits the points from which he can emit the light to really only his hands, which still isn’t too bad as that’s the main point he would use in combat. But it does prevent him from doing things like emitting light from his whole body and blinding/stunning , or possibly even burning (depending on the intensity of the light) everything around him. His tattoos glow bright white.
There is a Chatlau, who was once part of CRAH, as he was taken in as a child, and is now part of NCR. His power allows him to control temperature. For most of his childhood, he couldn’t find much use for his power, mostly using it for trivial things like cooking food or heating the room. But CRAH had heard of his power through people talking about him, and they saw great potential. And one fateful night, Dawnstar and Calamity appeared at their door. Special guests for an especially powerful ability. They took him in, telling his family theyd teach him to use his power and teach him how to defend himself. This is how it started, but their malicious and violent ways tainted him. They taught him how to murder and destroy, and destroy he did. He became jovial and hedonistic about his killing, though he never really had a real life-risking fight, as most all confrontations were heavily favoured towards him. And eventually, when his family tried seeing him again after a while, they realised that he had changed. They had changed him. They had been exposed to CRAH’s malicious ways. So they reported this to NCR, specifically Gimal and Baltazar. Gimal was hesitant at first, just seeing him as another violent CRAH member, but Baltazar saw hope in being able to change him, as he often did in young people. So he managed to convince Gimal, and the 2 partners went on a rescue mission to save him and bring him into a better world. Baltazar could relate, as he had to learn to use his power for good and not violence
