Movies and tv shows that I have seen where they should have been lesbians
Eega (2012)- I too would come back from the dead as a fly for a girl I barely talk to. also something about Nani in this movie screams butch lesbian idk idk
Nuvvu Naaku Nachav (2001)- possessive femme, losing sleep over eye contact etc. Also I think it would have made the forbidden love part of it more intense/believable
Kabhie Khushi Khabie Gham- I already made a post about this on my page so I won't rehash that here but if you want my thoughts on it find that post
Ponniyin Selvin (2022) - Controversial? perhaps. Period accurate? definitely not. I don't care. maybe I just really liked this movie and I want more lesbian period dramas from India. maybe I just think they're really hot. either way aditha and nandini should have been lesbians. they're too hot not to be lesbians
Anne of Green Gables- I'm all for people just being friends and all that but I feel like Diana and Anne should have kissed at least once. they're so homoerotic friendship
Merlin (2008)- Gwen and morgana were my first introduction to queer baiting. ok maybe it wasn't actually queer baiting but it felt like it. they needed to kiss at least once, preferably more than once.they would have been so cute together. they were always the happiest when they were near each other. ugh
will update as I remember more

Fashion Magazines in Kabhi Khushi Khabie Gham (2001)
Click here for more fashion magazine identifications.
Kabhi Khushi Khabie Gham (2001) is a cult Hindi movie (Hindi, not Indie, enunciate the H). If you haven't watched it yet, run!
One of the main characters, Pooja, is a university student who is really, really, really into fashion. It makes sense, then, that when she first appears on the screen, she is literally surrounded by fashion magazines.
Next to her lay 8 magazines! All from a variety of publications and not even a duplicate. I'm impressed! Tracking them all down took me a good 2 hours, tho...
Some parameters:
The movie was shot starting on 16 October 2000 and was released in India on 14 December 2001.
The movie is set in both India and the UK, with this scene, in particular, being set in London so I'm assuming most of the magazines will be UK edition.
Ok, now we are ready to start.
From the left:
Harpers & Queen - May 2001
Cover model: Yasmin Le Bon (source1, source2)
This is not, in fact, an Harper's Bazaar issue, because Harper's Bazaar UK didn't exist at the time! According to Wikipedia: "In November 1970, New York City-based Hearst Communications amalgamated it with Queen magazine (which dated from 1862) to form Harpers & Queen. [...] In March 2006, it was renamed Harper's Bazaar, bringing it in line with its international sister titles."
Cosmopolitan UK - June 2001
Cover Model: Alison Meisonne (source)
Harpers & Queen - March 2001
Cover model: Sarah Jessica Parker
Tatler - August 1998
Cover model: Jemima Khan
Elle US - June 2001
Cover model: Fernanda Tavares (source)
You can find more info on the features of this issue on The Fashion Spot. (I think I've found my people)
Vogue UK - June 1998
Cover model: Kate Moss (source)
Harpers & Queen - April 2001
Cover model: Rachel Weisz (source)
Vogue UK - April 2001
Cover Model: Gisele Bundchen (source)
.
In case you need a recap:
Harpers & Queen - May 2001
Cosmopolitan UK - June 2001
Harpers & Queen - March 2001
Tatler - August 1998
Elle US - June 2001
Vogue UK - June 1998
Harpers & Queen - April 2001
Vogue UK - April 2001
This tells us that this scene was shot during of after June 2001.
Most of the magazines are from around that time, but two of them are from 3 years before, 1998! I wonder how they found them? It's not like you can waltz in any store and get 3 years old fashion magazines!
And most importantly, a US edition of Elle?? Of the issue of that same month? How?? They didn't shoot in the US at all!

Whenever I watch Kabhi Khushi Khabie Gham, I just sit there thinking what an amazing k-drama it would make, but then I think that maybe it wouldn’t, because half of the magic is the musical numbers, and Korea… does Not Do musical set pieces like that. But anyway, here’s a quick fancast!
Cha Hakyeon as the male lead / “Rahul” character
I love his charisma and easy blend of humor and earnestness, and I’m dying to see him in a leading man role. He’d pull off this role so well.
Park Eun-bin as the female lead / “Anjali” character
Her ability to play characters that would come off as annoying in the hands of anyone else, but she transforms into the most lovable character to have ever graced your screen… born to play Anjali
And yes, I loved the two of them in Castaway Diva and need them playing a couple like now
Choi Hyun Wook as the second male lead / “Rohan” character
He’s pretty and great at crying and I really think he and Hakyeon could pull off the siblings look.
Roh Jeong-eui as the second female lead / “Pooja” character
If anyone can pull off the “I’m pretty and I know it and wield it” character and still make her likable, it’s Jeong-eui. She doesn’t really look like she could be Eun-bin’s sister, but we can make it work!
For the parents, I’m not totally sure, especially for the dad. But for the mom, I’m leaning towards either Kim Mi-kyung (I mean, obviously 😌) or Seo Jung-Yeon. They can both play that tender loving mom that has a thousand secrets and feelings behind her eyes.
#okay this is what I did instead of getting an early night djsjdjdhdh#edit: i just remembered that Rahul and Rohan aren’t even blood related in canon so they don’t even have to look alike 💀#elly's posts#kabhi khushi kabhie gham#kdrama#fancast#k3g

jfdk watching Khabi Khushi Kabhie Gham again and got to the half that's set in London and they introduce the now grown-up Pooja as being all westernised, and that she now goes by the """""western""""" name 'Poo' like GIRL?????
#she would get bullied enough for having Poo in her name but let alone going by ONLY Poo!! :( :(#glad that they didn't just pick a random English name to change it to though which wouldn't been more realistic but sadder#liveblogging K3G#like last time I watched it I didn't even question it for some reason gjfdks

Top 5 Bollywood movies
Ooooh, you knew exactly what to ask me to make my day!
5 - Bajirao Mastani (I will never get enough of Deewani Mastani)
4 - Pardes (Mahima Chaudhry, Nahin Hona Tha, Meri Mehbooba...)
3 - Hum Tum AND Jab Tak Hai Jaan, because I can't choose
2 - Kuch Kuch Hota Hai AND Khabi Khushi Kabhi Gham, because it doesn't get better than SRK and Kajol (and Rani Mukherjee)
1 - Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela AND Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, because. Just. Because. No, I will never get over these two.
Did I went overboard? Maybe. I stand by it.
Mmh. Yeah. Lots of SRK-Kajol and DeepVeer, isn't it.
OH, and shameless promo for my DDLJ fic too! Golden Light On The Rooftops, part 1, and with any luck I'll post part 2 this autumn.

What kind of movies do you like to watch? I made a list of 42 Hindi movies from between 2010 and now for Bollywood recs, but once I finished I realized I don't know which genres you like so I don't know which recommendations to give you! 😅
As for stuff out right now, I liked Vikram Vedha. It gets really engrossing once Hrithik Roshan shows up like 20 minutes into the movie, though I don't think the songs were that memorable (and I thought one didn't fit in the movie at all, lol.) I had fun watching it, though I think it could have been stronger if it didn't explicitly explain things to the audience so much and had been more subtle about its points. For Indian movies in general that aren't Bollywood, I loved Ponniyin Selvan which is historical fiction plus political intrigue and some action. (The female characters were excellent I cannot stress this enough, and I genuinely loved so many of the characters.) I also really enjoyed Kantara (especially the climax which gave me chills!) which looks at themes of man vs nature, man vs man, and who can really 'own' or have stewardship over the land and uses religious traditions from coastal Karnataka in South India to explore that.
ooh you sound much more expert than me, haha! I mostly just watched all the biggest movies from like 10~20 years ago, so some of my favs are Kal Ho Naa Ho, Jab We Met, and Kabhi Khushi Khabie Gham.
I like all genres except horror, but I especially enjoy movies that have good songs and are fun and upbeat. I'd be psyched to see any of your recommendations! I haven't watched very many movies lately but maybe I'll get back into it! Thank you!
