can't be ASSED to do banners atm but uh. i wanna talk abt kairi's relationship with riku, or really, the lack thereof.

because through my Many playthroughs of kh games, kairi and riku always have the strongest relationship with sora, and virtually no bond with each other, save for kh1, but i cant speak much for kairi's thoughts about riku for the most part, but kairi is the one to suggest that she and sora take the raft, just them, and prior to that, she tells sora that she thinks riku's changed, as though she doesn't like that.

and i honestly think it boils down to the fact that kairi has more of an emotional attachment to sora, but she couldn't have sora in her life without riku. she accepted that the two of them were a package deal, and while she makes no real effort to drive any wedge between them, it's very clear that riku is not her friend, he is sora's. riku and kairi are only connected by virtue of their connection to sora. at least, that's how it starts.

because really, i think it boils down to kairi having struggled with her self-determination for her entire life. kairi has never had the chance to be kairi, whoever that may be. she's always the object of someone's affections, the carrot dangled on the stick, the princess, the ideal, the daughter, the light. and none of those are who kairi really is, but even she doesn't know by this point.

the only people who didn't expect anything of her were sora and riku, but kairi didn't know what to be. the version of herself she presented to sora changed as they grew, and by virtue of that, so did how she perceived riku. from the start, we don't see kairi show a lot of care or concern for riku the way she does sora, but again, she doesn't have a lot of screentime in which to do so in kh1, she's a prop for sora and riku's opposition. she is the thing they are fighting for and over, until she is no longer relevant. in kh1, kairi was presented as the damsel in distress, needing sora to come rescue her, and then she's the girl back home, who sora promises to return to. even riku tells sora to take care of her, but that speaks more to riku's feelings about kairi than it does to kairi's feelings about riku.

even in kh2, when her memories of sora are gone, kairi doesn't seem to spare much concern for riku, and while i don't think she holds any disdain for him concerning the events of kh1, it once again reinforces that riku is not kairi's friend, not from her point of view. in kh2 she seems to understand even further that she cannot have sora without sora having riku. and from what little we see of riku and kairi interacting, riku seems to care a great deal more for kairi than she does for him. & i'm not saying kairi hates riku, she doesn't. but the problem with her relationship with riku is that it's entirely reliant on her ability to define herself as a person and by what she wants, which she's mostly unable to do before the end of kh2.

by 2.8/fragmentary passage, we can see that kairi has truly grown to care about riku as a person, as by this time, she hasn't been able to spend much time with sora, and she's likely seen more of riku than she has of sora lately, which i think opens up the chance for them to actually be friends. it's only by kh3 that i believe kairi could truly, honestly say that both sora and riku are her friends, because it's only by kh3 that kairi has started to discover who kairi actually is, and even then, the narrative ( and the subpar writing ) are determined to reduce her to the princess and the love interest.

by the end of kh3, i think it's safe to say that kairi's bond with riku is just as strong as her bond with sora, even if they're different. riku is to kairi, at this point, a close friend, someone she would easily trust with her life. she cares for him deeply, and as we see, riku is deeply saddened when xehanort shatters her heart, though again, it's not and never will be quite like her bond with sora.

but the overall reason that kairi and riku are not friends from the start entirely lies with kairi. she's insecure with herself, struggling to know who she really is and weighing everyone's expectations of her with who she actually is as a person and i think, to some degree, riku and kairi can understand that aspect of themselves and see it reflected in the other. i think kairi and riku have the potential to understand each other in a way sora can't.

post melody of memory, i think kairi feels more secure in who she is and her relationship with riku is more familial, he's someone very dear to her, someone she cannot imagine her life without, just as sora is. she's more comfortable around him, she feels closer and more connected to him, and they lean on each other more, i think.

there's a parallel to be drawn about kairi's feelings towards riku and the evolution of their relationship to kairi's feelings about herself and how they change overtime. she was never sure where she stood with riku early on because kairi was unsure of where she stood with herself, who or what she was supposed to be. and although she and riku may not have always been friends, kairi intends to make sure they stay friends.

A character for the ask: Rinoa

Hello! Ah okay!

Sexuality Headcanon: this may make me wildly unpopular but I view Rinoa as straight. She’s pretty much never had to question her feelings about romantic attraction but she’s probably the biggest Ally you will ever meet.

Gender Headcanon: Rinoa is gender questioning I’d say. She hesitates to use words like fluids and binary only because she has a complicated relationship with her body and liking it. Pronouns are She/they. But she uses She quite a bit for ease. Squall and Selphie are generally the only ones who use They with Rinoa and it makes them feel happy.

A ship I have with said character: hmmm I do ship Squall X Rinoa (Squinoa! God I love that ship name) but I don’t know man I don’t really have another one for her.

A BROTP I have with said character: Zell and Rinoa. Big irritating little siblings vibes off of these too. Squall trapped in the middle of their horrendous “ya huh-Nu uhh” every as they fight about something stupid. Love that for them. Also I’m a big fan of Selphie and Rinoa being the dream/nightmare team. They spend all there time lightly bullying Squall and Zell it’s great!

A NOTP I have with said character: Rinoa x Siefer. You knew it was coming. I’ll scream all day about how much I hate Siefer Almsly till I’m blue in the face. Keep him as far from Rinoa as possible.

A random headcanon: Rinoa is type one diabetic and Angelo is trained to let her know when she’s dropping.

General Opinion over said character: I love Rinoa. She’s my girl! I love all final fantasy women to be honest. I will admit to not having as many headcanons for my girl cause I get a little fixated on VII and KH sometimes but I really do love her a lot. She’s probably one of the first female characters I knew of from FF and thought “god she’s just the fucking best”. I do not stand for Rinoa slander, and it does irritate me in fics when she’s reduced to an annoyance, or less then extremely important to squall. If I’m reading Strifehart one of my big Icks is when Rinoa is made out to be abusive or cruel to Squall about it. I truelly hate it because where the fuck does that even come from?? Don't get me wrong (love that for him) but I always imagined him idk I wouldn't say that he has internalized homophobia in canon but that he's either too oblivious to even get that he's attracted to boys (always imagining him thinking that a certain boy is sooo cool or "even prettier than a girl" - especially Sasuke ofc) or him being scared to come out because of his craving for acceptance and affection from ppl (villagers, friends etc). Obviously this doesn't mean that ur wrong or something like that :D KH Naruto is canon to me! I never read a fic where Naruto feels so natural like KH Naruto. But yeah, I'm really interested in what you think :)

you know, i had been fully prepared for that to have been something I would have to address at some point in the narrative, but it just never naturally occurred ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. i think it was a mixture of how slowly things between them progressed combined with naruto not really being the kind of person who reflects back on his actions like that. i always joke that i dont think Naruto has an internal dialog, and what I mean by that is that he exists so solely in the present, doing what his heart wants in the moment, that he rarely questions why he does what he does or how each specific action he does could affect the future (this is paralleled with how Sasuke rarely ever lives in the present, always flopping between analyzing the past and shaping his future).

so when these moments between them happen, Naruto doesn't really have the kind of brain that asks why or what does this mean. he goes off of his first instinct. the first moment between them was another accidental kiss, which we see him react very similarly to how he did in Sasuke's introductory chapter- he acts grossed out. you can view it as internalized homophobia, which i do see a bit of, but for me I always viewed it as the fact that it was Sasuke, whom he had such a conflated opinion on pinning him as his rival. he hated sasuke- or so he told himself. likewise with the sai moment we get in canon, which always felt like a mixture of internalized homophobia and the fact that it was sai.

but the moments with Sasuke keep coming, and Naruto just never put any thought into them at all. he acts on his instinct, which tells him that he actually really likes kissing sasuke so like you should keep kissing sasuke bc it's really nice kissing sasuke. he admits to thinking other guys are hot, because he does, but he never had the thought to question what that meant about his own sexuality. he just never reflected on it, so it never came up as a plot point that affected the narrative at all. hell, in Sakura's pov in kizuna shiten he was shocked to hear her call sasuke his boyfriend, and that was months after the events of his birthday. I'm sure if at some point during the early chapters some external source put it to actual words for him and forced him to confront the fact that he's sexually attracted to guys, he would have had a bit of a crisis. but because no one did and things between him and sasuke moved so slowly that by the time we get to the end of the original fic, he rates the intimacy with sasuke too highly to have any negative reaction to the fact that it makes him queer. honestly I'm not convinced that even by the end of shiten does naruto realize that he's not heterosexual lmaooooooo

i wonder how long he'll go before he realizes. i kinda wanna wait until the epilogue of the sequel to give him that revelation solely for the meme of it all. i definitely know I won't but the thought of how funny it would be is very tempting

Just wanna drop some personal opinions. I. I swear to god i have heard people complaining for a thousand times about how Ayato’s LE route was “horrible” and all of them has the same reasoning being “it’s unfair”, so i came to share my point of view:

His route wasn't even that bad? 😅 Yall r pissed bc he got treated like shit in his route (yeah, bc he hurted his brothers. He blinded Laito and broke Kanato’s leg. Accidentally or whatever.) What everyone has already known is the S boys' relationship is trash from the begining, ofc they'll act like that? Kanato the one who will scream at your face and treat you with the "idc what tf your reason is i want YOU to take responsibility" and Laito who has grudges with Ayato all the way at the begining? Then comes Reiji who tried so hard for years to become the leader/ leader's right hand man just to serve a person he view as narrow and incompetent (bruh idk about Kanato but everyone else' has something that makes others respect them for. In the Sakamaki family. Shu's smart and know how to act like a big bro when needed, Reiji's a strategist and has been studying to be the heir for years, Laito's intelligent af, and Subaru is the purest among vampires, it’s will be pretty hard to explain this now but all i can say is “it’s smth related to politics in the DL world”), with the last straw being that one hurting his own people? And Ruki who longs for the king's title, who's as dedicated to Karl as Reiji, and is able to seethrough the same Ayato who's unfit to rule all along? 💀 girl. If you people's going to play blame game, blame everyone including Ayato then. He DID made a big mistake. Even it isn't his intention to do so. Try to walk in other people's shoes (in term of mindset and feelings cuz you're oh so capable to do so when it comes to Ayato in other people's route ^^.)

This IS the route suitable for smo with the title "main hero". Because it's different from every other routes. S boys have to deal with both personal problems and their leader position. Now, what kind of personal problem does Ayato have? ^^ Egomaniac, solved. Hatred for Cordi, done in DF. Hating his father? There are some, but not as much as Laito, cuz Laito’s a big personal grudge that can make him going from borderline suicidal to try everything in everyway to khs because he has to receive smth from Karl (No takesy backsy~ Your supplier Karl’s ded). Ayato doesn't. The writers tried their best to make a big ass personal problem for him ya know ^^. 5 other routes r pretty much… peas in the same pot, but Ayato got the element of surprise 👍 Wouldn't that make his route stand out from his brothers', like what a "main hero's route" will be? ^^ Talking about surprises,

Rejet's marketing strategy. Do you know what do Ayato's Daylight aka the most “well-liked daylight cd” and Ayato's LE route have in common? They doesn't follow the stream every other routes does. They stand out. Yes. Because what people like, isn't just sweet moments and fanservices. They long for new things. Creativity. Ayato's route has both of these. Decent amount of sweet moments with Yui, a tear he never shed. So not too much Overall, balance 👍.

II. “The M boys are so narrow-minded when they be like “Aristocrats this aristocrats that” to the S boys, S boys went through traumas too”

THEY-WON’T-KNOW?????? If the S boys don’t share????? Where do you think they’d get that information from? Karl casually telling his surbonates “I traumatized my sons”? The players, aka us, know about their pasts because Rejet puts them in every opening of the prolouge/ epilogues, so we can read their thoughts, sympathize with them, whatever, but can the M boys/ any other boys see them too? You finish the puzzle.

(Trivial matter, if my memories is correct M boys, (for example Kou) have been showing sympathy everytime S boys told them something about their past (in that drama cd where 2/3 of the triplet doing recalls about Cordi’s cooking)).

In conclusion, the “narrow-minded” one is the one saying the similar statement above. ^^

III. There’s no “main character” in otome games.

I don’t think i have to explain the reason, since someone has already said that out loud (“If there’s one “main character”, what are the other 12 for?”, i recall) And i thought everyone knows this already. Because there’s has already been a term for that in the otoge community, being “posterboy”. Yes. The one appearing in almost every posters, the one having the most screentime if the project has an anime adaption, whose cd is the 1st ever to be released. Ect. So. Let’s talk about Young Blood. I see a lot of people thinks that “Oh the story revolves around Ayato and Karl in this manga favors Ayato more than any other sons of his. He must be the main character. If otherwise, why didn’t they make 5 more mangas?” Have you ever thought about how making 5 more manga, with the same plot would spill the budget and no company is dumb enough to not realize that so they just do one that revolves around their representative aka the posterboy and let their audiences do the math that if we change to other boys’ perspective the story would go on the same way (with some tiny events/ details being changed?)

I hope people grow some perspective.

IV. Nothing much. I’m just a little disappointed on how most people i’ve seen here have nothing to say about but how “nice and helpful” the boys is (judging characters based on their moral. I mean there’s more to talk about than just that?)

V. Ruki along with Reiji, Kanato and Laito (idk about other boys) are the most misunderstood character in this fandom (Ruki alone, all because people doesn’t understand his action and try to rationalize them in their own one-way, tunnel-liked, logically wrong way of reasoning, causing the action to look totally stupid and meaningless. Even some resources of him are translated wrong causing even more misunderstandings. (By the way, Reiji fans, Kanato fans, please tag me in posts solving misconceives about your oshi please. I would love to read them. 😔) P/s: Oh and something about Ruki, ofc him killing that cat is wrong, no question asked 👍 Though “=> He should not be entrusted with a pet of all kind bc he’ll kill them” + “=> he hates cats” is also wrong (yall be paying too much attention to the cat and forgot about the bird scene. What are some of your favorite headcanons of "they should have been fat"? Like, characters you super duper view or hc as fat but they're not in canon, so seeing canon or fanart of them is shocking. It could be complete headcanon or ones with actual reasons where the characters are "fat-coded"! (I feel like that sounds really silly to say but I do genuinely think it's a thing)

It can be hard for me to figure out who falls under this and it isn't just indulgent "I kin them/in my kin canon they were fat" but I realize now that it doesn't actually matter which is which XD—and also this is distinctly different from "I headcanon them to gain weight/become fat as canon progresses or post canon". (But what I mean moreso is like a character that you just SO strongly view as fat that them being not fat is practically shocking.)

Like, I headcanon Mondo to get more chubbier muscular as he gets older and heals as a person and has a much more bear like (but definitely super strong) physique than when he was younger, which is different than for example, Makoto, who I headcanon to just be fat as is without any progression of time.

Azure made a post of a few of his (and well mine too) headcanons like this but it's super limited because it's just 3 x 3 and I know we both share more strongly believed fat headcanons than that including within just one series!

Definitely two of my biggest headcanons like this are Bianca from Pokémon and Usagi from Sailor Moon. I dunno why but Bianca just looks almost chubby in some art? And she just FEELS chubby to me... She is a fat trans girl to me!!! Usagi also is to the point where I'd say she just is fat-coded because it seems like the viewer is supposed to see her as fat because other people do and she often diets or has a very fat relationship with the world, but she's just not depicted as fat because like...either it's all in her head or it's just...animanga has a fatphobia problem

I've been thinking about all this because of Azure's post and it definitely makes me want to make a "bingo" of characters where they're fat. To me.

I agree with the ones you mentioned!! Usagi is absolutely fat to me and always will be and I love her for it :3 and Bianca I never thought of but absolutely as well she totally is to me!!

Some I can think of is Rosalina, Shadow the Hedgehog, Ness, Ninten, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Fluttershy, Hatsune Miku, Lum from Urusei Yatsura, Mami Tomoe, Isabelle from AC, those are some that come to mind ^w^

Characters who are kintypes of mine I also would say a lot of them are fat, such as Galacta Knight (he’s a borb but like, particularly just is FAT to me ya know..), Sonic the hedgehog, Sora from KH, Derpy Hooves, Applebloom, some Link iterations from LoZ, Mae Borowski, Madoka Kaname, Ryoga Hibiki, you get the idea but those are some I can say XD

Another category I can think of is characters who were fat but kinda slimmed down for some ungodly reason :/ that are fat to ME no matter the canon! Like Glimmer from spop, from Willow from TOH, and Mario (a kintype of mine but fits this category). I’m sure there is more but I just hate how common this is to me 😔

Been thinking a lot about how Aqua’s popularity is basically due to the fact that she’s one of the only women (aka not minors) in KH (the other 3 are Larxene, Invi, and Kairi’s Grandma, fyi—yes there are actually only 4 girls who aren’t literal children in the whole series how am i just now realizing this??)
