Doesn't she look nice? I first saw @manishalakhe ten years ago on stage at the @kgafest hosting a @caferati event and I was captivated by her confidence, her mastery over literature and performance and the stage. I didn't have a lot of female role models and then suddenly there she was, commanding Saturday evening in a white linen suit. I discovered her bizarre imagination, her egoless thirst for good poetry & stories and her unpredictable (and utterly rich) sense of humour only later. Conversations with her are books and music and people and love and passion and art and travel and food and Marathi culture and oh language! Who else do you know who can follow at least 7 languages (at my last count) and write in several of them? I guess if you are hungry enough for good company, the universe will provide you with a fellow traveller eventually. You may have to bear with her unaccountable disdain for baingan however. Manisha Lakhe is an author, poet, teacher and also hosts the @caferati open mic at @prithvitheatre café on the 4th Monday of every month. 2019 AD: Post 9 This iconic location in our city of dreams requires no introduction. Named after the statue located here, it is easily identifiable, even when bereft of the statue itself, missing even in this image, captured in 2015. However, since two years, the statue is back on its rightful place, in its full glory, presiding over on an equally iconic art festival that is back on its annual visit in this precinct this week. Yes, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival - KGAF, where you celebrate the extraordinary creativity out of what could otherwise be quotidian objects of Mumbai.  KGAF is indeed a celebration unparalleled - unmatched even for this pulsating city of ours; countless people thronging around appreciating those lively inanimate objects & moments full of gaiety & sparkling energy; possibly chaotic elsewhere but not in this city. How tempting it would be to pen the stories behind all those moments & lives around! How onerous the task would be! Not for a gifted raconteur perhaps, but for me surely. So I found a better way to celebrate: to whirl around like a dervish, lugging around the camera  and capture through my lens-eye the symphony of those chaotic moments on the street.
