Note
keyboard drumset fucking werewolf is what i imagined yura sounding like before the voice post thing
Honestly that voice post has a lot of inaccuracies (mostly because I initially tried to restrict myself to weeb russian covers for some reason) and Yura’s voice was definitely one of the more “ok that’s not REALLY what I imagine him sounding like but it kinda works ig idk”
So if you mean the middle part of the song where the dude sings normally then it is actually a lot closer to what I imagined Yura’s voice to be (but ofc you were talking about the high-pitched screaming parts weren’t you you meme man)

Video Game Lab
Three of the games I played during our in class video game lab activity were:
Keyboard Drumset Fucking Werewolf
Tumblr media
Magical Maiden Madison
Tumblr media
Don’t Shit Your Pants
Tumblr media
These games were all strange by conventional gaming standards. They felt more like one-off experiences than a set of systems that lend themselves to repeated play. These three games exemplify the transformation that has occurred in the gaming industry over the last several decades, from games as a highly specialized entertainment medium produced almost purely for commercial reasons, to games as a means of self expression and a vehicle for expanding the player’s worldview.
Keyboard Drumset Fucking Werewolf has simple mechanics that engage the player, and is reminiscent of a simple platformer from the early 8-bit console era, but the actual gameplay feels more like a tacked on afterthought than the main attraction. The far more dominant element of the game is how it assaults the players senses with loud and intentionally grating music and visuals. And features scenes designed to shock and provoke a visceral reaction. This game demands your attention, and I found myself fully immersed in it even though I found it mildly annoying, which is a compliment to the designers as I felt this was the experience they intended to craft.
Likewise, Magical Maiden Madison isn’t a game so much as a spoof of Anime tropes that the player experiences from their point of view. While the subject matter was of course a joke, and a fairly entertaining and well written one, the device the game’s author used could also be used to put the player in the shoes of a refugee fleeing Syria, or a homeless man trying to survive on the street. This game type, a sort of interactive visual novel simulation, is a great method to generate empathy from the player. Even though my character was an obvious parody of an Anime heroine, I did feel for what the character was going through.
Don’t Shit Your Pants was another game that felt like it was designed as a quick and one-off experience, as though the player was only meant to play it once. Although I have read there are multiple win conditions, I only saw the most straightforward one when my partner beat the game by typing a correct sequence of commands: the game character took off his pants, opened the door, and sat on the toilet. After watching my partner beat it, I tried issuing alternate commands and did manage to lose in a unique way, when I tried kicking the door down. In this way, the game encouraged experimentation. I already knew how to win, but wanted to test the system to see what other commands and consequences the designer included.
These games demonstrate that video games have evolved far past an activity that was primarily a big-budget and commercialized one, into a widely available medium that has yet to be fully realized. In this era, video games are currently an unknown frontier. Many indie studios and ordinary people are exploring what can be done with the video game medium, and creating wholly original experiences.
