It’s heartwarming to see the cast’s sympathy for Thomas:
It’s whether or not other people will let him change his spots I think is the real thing, isn’t it? You know, you can turn over as many leaves as you like, but if everybody is expecting and looking for the worst in you, sometimes the only thing you can do is revert to type.
- Raquel Cassidy
I think he is very lonely. And I think in the acceptance of his loneliness comes a tragic storyline. Rob plays him brilliantly. His own justification for what he is doing, you can almost see in everything that Rob does. It’s almost a constant turmoil of that he wants to be good, the frustration, the evil, and he wants to take it out on someone. But it’s not evil, it really isn’t. It’s frustration and sadness and bitterness over the fact that he can’t have what everyone else can.
- Allen Leech
Also pleased to see Jim Carter (aka Mr. Carson) speaking well of Thomas for once.
This interview is my fantasy of what everyone at Downton realised at the end of the series.
Can Thomas change his ways for good?

34 ORCHARD ISSUE 10 IS HERE!
This issue plunges into the cavern of feeling forlorn, lost, and left behind; sasquatches, mermaids, street dwellers, siblings and jobseekers watch as the world chugs on without them. But although abandonment may feel like a death knell, we shouldn’t underestimate its positive power: a woman seeks justice, a grieving spouse turns grateful, and a mother finds strength. If you’re feeling forgotten…

David Badash at NCRM:
Billionaire Elon Musk, the world’s richest man who purchased the social media platform Twitter and renamed it X, is “all in” on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, The New York Times reports. X has “reportedly worked with Donald Trump’s campaign to censor material that could be harmful to the former president’s White House chances as part of a pattern of election interference that is unprecedented in U.S. history,” according to The Daily Beast. Musk, The Times reports, “seen over the weekend jumping for joy alongside former President Donald J. Trump at a rally in Butler, Pa., is now talking to the Republican candidate multiple times a week.” Video (below) shows Musk wore a black “Make America Great Again” cap with the words “Never Surrender” embroidered on the side and praising the ex-president’s actions during the attempted assassination.
The relationship between Musk and Trump “has proved significant in other ways. After a reporter’s publication of hacked Trump campaign information last month, the campaign connected with X to prevent the circulation of links to the material on the platform, according to two people with knowledge of the events. X eventually blocked links to the material and suspended the reporter’s account.”
The reporter, Ken Klippenstein, whose work often focuses on national security issues, published the document because “it’s of keen public interest in an election season.” Klippenstein last month called his ban “political,” and wrote: “It’s been widely reported that my suspension from X (Twitter) is only temporary. Those reports are false. My ban from X, the company says, is permanent.” The New York Times’ Aric Toler writes: “Trump’s campaign worked with Musk/Twitter to implement a blanket ban on sharing the link to the Vance dossier.” NBC News’ Kevin Collier adds, “Per NYT, X’s crackdown on Ken Klippenstein and the Iran-hacked Vance doc came after the Trump campaign reached out. Well within each party’s right, but this is the exact same thing Musk, Trump, and the right threw a yearslong fit about over Hunter Biden.”
Right-wing psycho X owner Elon Musk has repeatedly engaged in election interference to help Donald Trump, such as banning Ken Klippenstein and suppressing the Vance Dossier.

Downton Abbey‘s final act appears to be nigh. A third and final film in Julian Fellowes’ storied historical franchise is in the pipeline, co-star Imelda Staunton revealed to BBC Radio’s Zoe Ball.
“There will be [a] final final,” the actress behind Lady Maud Bagshaw confirmed on Wednesday.
The news comes roughly two years after the release of Downton Abbey: A New Era, which followed the Crawleys and their staff as they welcomed a movie crew to Downton for the filming of a new silent film, while other members of the family embarked on a grand adventure to a villa in the south of France to uncover a mystery about the Dowager Countess.
The second pic starred Downton mainstays Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Joanne Froggatt, Harry Hadden-Paton, Robert James-Collier, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Tuppence Middleton, Lesley Nichol, Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton and the aforementioned Staunton.
Shortly after A New Era‘s release, Bonneville suggested that franchise fatigue was setting in.
“I suspect, on a practical level, it’s run its course now,” the actor told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “I think [A New Era] was a good time to quit.”
Bonneville went on to call A New Era a “joyous” potential conclusion, “and such a good note on which to end the story,” before adding, “There’s still open doors in it, but I think it might be the right time to stop.”

The Paddlewheeled Tugboat Eppleton Hall
Above photo is from Kevin Blair unknown date
The Eppleton hall was built in 1914 by the Hepple and company in south shields England for the Lambton and Hetton collieries Ltd. the Eppleton hall was named the Lambton family's ancestral home. she was built to tow ocean going colliers (vessels that carry coal) for wharf to sea on the River Tyne and to tow new ships out to sea. with a speed of 10 knots (19km/h or 12mph), her engines could function independently to help with maneuverability has she came in at 30.6 m (100.5 ft) in length.
continued below the cut
The Lambton and Hetton collieries Ltd merged with the joicey Collieries in 1924 to form the Lambton, Hetton & Joicey Collieries Ltd. in 1945 sometime before the collieries where nationalised and operated by the national coal board, Lambton, Hetton & Joicey Collieries Ltd where sold to the France, Fenwick Tyne and Wear Ltd. in 1952 she was modified to obtain a passenger certificate, so that she could transport officials from newly built ships after their sea trials.
Above photo is from Kevin Blair unknown date
In November 1964 France, Fenwick Tyne and Wear Ltd got rid of their last paddle tug the Houghton (built in 1904 by Hepple and had been once owned by Lambton Collieries and was scrapped) and the Eppleton hall was sold to the Seaham harbor dock company where she worked alongside the reliant (built 1907). She was sold to the shipbreaker's clayton and cavie Ltd for scrap in 1967 and was left sitting on a mud bank in Duston. As part of the scrapping process, she was set on fire to help the process. she would remain there for 2 years partly flooded and rotting away.
Above photo of EPPLETON HALL lying at the breakers is copyright of Malcolm Donnelly sometime between 1967 and 1969.
The news that the sale of the last steam paddle tug still in service anywhere in the world the Reliant had reached Karl Kortum, who was then the director of the San Francisco Maritime Museum. Karl's friend and museum trustee Scott Newhall was informed about the sale. Scott flew to Newcastle, England to obtain the Reliant for the museum. this plan was met with opposition as the British National Maritime Museum had prior claim to the Reliant, as they planned to scrap the hull and preserve one or both of the Side Lever engines and perhaps a paddle wheel. 3 times did the British National Maritime Museum stop Scott from getting the Reliant, the last attempt Scott even hired people to collect the tug, who pretend to be representatives of the British National Maritime Museum. This attempt apparently failed when the police were called.
The day after his last attempt Scott when to have a look at the Eppleton hall, he was surprised that she was mostly whole. that night from his hotel room he called the shipbreaker's clayton and cavie Ltd and brought the Eppleton hall. she was rebuilt at Bill Quay, near Hebburn at a small shipyard from sometime in June 1969. she was modified to help her cross the Atlantic Ocean under her own steam. modern navigational aids, radio, a new wheelhouse saved from a fishing trawler, 2 masts for sails and she was had a conversion from a coal burner to a diesel oil firer. this cost $150,000 at the time. she Templary become the SS Eppleton Hall for this crossing and was re-registered as a private yacht so that the Uk broad of trade cerftion for the crossing.
Above photo is from Kevin Blair unknown date
On the 18th of September 1969, she set sail on the first leg of the journey to San Francisco via the Panama Canal. Sailing via Dover, Lisbon, Cape Verde, Georgetown, via Panama and San Diego to name a few of her scheduled stops. she did have some problems during the journey: she ran out of fuel in the Bay of Biscay, her vacuum pump failed in the middle of the Atlantic, she helped rescue a fishing vessel off the coast of Mexico and nearly sunk in a storm near San Diego on the final leg. she passed under the golden gate bridge in late March of 1970, making the journey a 6 months and 9 days long adventure for the 12 man crew on broad. Scott wrote the book: the Eppleton hall, which tells the story of the discovery and restoration of the ship, the events about the reliant and the 11,000 mile journey to bring her to San Francisco. she was donated by Karl Kortum to the national park service in 1979.

Time to blame Russia for everything again.
Russia’s 2024 election interference has already begun
Dan De Luce and Kevin Collier
Mon, February 26, 2024 at 7:00 AM EST·9 min read
Russia is already spreading disinformation in advance of the 2024 election, using fake online accounts and bots to damage President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats, according to former U.S. officials and cyber experts.
The dissemination of attacks on Biden is part of a continuing effort by Moscow to undercut American military aid to Ukraine and U.S. support for and solidarity with NATO, experts said.
A similar effort is underway in Europe. France, Germany and Poland said this month that Russia has launched a barrage of propaganda to try to influence European parliamentary elections in June.
Lol because 2016 and 2020 were so much fun, we just can't miss a chance for Round 3
